The previous student must have been very lazy...Mr. Randall is a very intelligent, thoughtful man, and he always makes time to help you, if you help yourself. He is also very friendly and has a great sense of humor. I recommend him strongly!

Randall is pretty cool. He's smart and really funny (not to mention cute). However he does tend to be narrowminded. Don't skip class and do the assigned readings and you'll be fine.

Randall was great! this is the easiest class i've ever taken, but it also helps if you enjoy films and analysis of scenes (Film Studies). He's got a great sense of humor that makes him very approachable. He's great, and I wouldnt mind having him again.

Randall is one of the coolest teachers I've ever had. I normally hate english but he made if interesting and even fun. His class was easy as long as you do the assignments. He's very nice, funny and smart. I definately recommend him.

Randall is very laid-back. He is very helpful and friendly. As long as you go to class, write decent papers and read the assignments you will do just fine! If you want a good grade on your paper I suggest you go to his office during office hours.

Randall is a great teacher. He is always there to offer help on whatever paper you are working on. He makes class fun and interesting. It's as good as english gets.

I had Randall my freshman year at ECU and really enjoyed his class. (Also had his father for Psychology freshman year) Not so sure about the hotness factor, but he is a good professor.

He's a Great Guy and hes such a sweetie! Makes his class fun. hes a cutie as well...if you have him in the fall semester it is extremely hard to not look at him and think about the lil kid in the Christmas Story! Any other time he looks more like Dexter!

Randall is just a great teacher. You won't feel a whole lot of pressure from him. He'll encourage you and will make sure you do your stuff. As long as you put in the effort and come to class -- it'll be smooth riding. Classes are always interesting.

This class is fun...never a dull time in there, just be sure to come to class everyday and TALK, he doesn't want to be the only one talking in class...good professor..take him if you get a chance!

Randall is a great guy. He really cares about his students and is willing to talk to you. YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM!! I have him for 1100 and will have him for 1200! HE ROCKS! But please be lively in his class don't be afraid to talk! He is very fair.

Fun class. I like his sense of humor and grades fairly easy. He is willing to talk to you one on one and help you revise your papers for an A. Only 4 papers and not very long either. Good teacher overall.

This was a very cool and fun class to be in. He was very helpful on papers and just on any other questions I had. He does have quizzes but as long as you read the stories he assigns you will do fine. There was never a dull moment in the class.

I had him for Engl 1100 and 1200. He is the best professor at ECU. HE GIVES YOU CHANCES TO REDO YOUR ENTIRE PAPER! Very easy class. Randall is a cool teacher who doesn't have to act it. He's really funny and interesting. His papers are easy if you are prepared for them. The topics are easy if you find the right one for you. He shows great movies in 1100 and some good clips in 1200. The books he assigns are kind of strange though

hes pretty cool, writing the essays suck but other then that he didnt make us have class on fridays just online discussions which are easy.. id say take him..

Randall is pretty cool. He's very helpful, with a wierd sense of humor, but he grows on you. Writing sucks, but since it's a pre-req. to anything else in English and a Gen. Ed requirement, I'd take Randall anyday. One of the better teachers this school has had from what I understand.

pretty great teacher as far as english goes...do 3 papers and read two books. He will help you out a lot with your papers if you get them done early--he'll read the whole thing and make corrections! pretty good class, it's a gen ed. requirement, but def. suggest you take randall

I've had Martoccia twice- I enjoyed his class both times and I'll continue to look for more courses that he teaches!

Randall is a really good teacher. He is interesting, very laid back and explains assignments very well. The papers are not too hard, but be sure to read because you will have a quiz on almost every story. I would recommend taking his class.

Randall is the man! His class is pretty easy if you do the readings and put forth the effort on the papers. He is willing to help if you ever have any questions. I am taking him for ENGL 1200 as well. Very good teacher and highly recommended! Show him you care and you will get an A. Attendance is taken tho, but class is always fun.

Professor Martoccia is one of the fairest professors I’ve ever had, I really enjoyed his class. We wrote 3 papers, one 4 pages, one 7 pages, and one 3 pages. He is an extremely effective teacher.

Take this class if you enjoy reading, if not pass on it...he gives quizzes practically EVERYDAY so you are screwed if you don't read. There are two papers/projects, a journal notebook, a midterm, a final and zillions upon zillions of reading quizzes (they are ok if you've read though. Randall is cool overall...

Randall is great. He's kind of young so he'll let you joke around and stuff in class, but when he gets serious just shut up or he'll get mad and make you leave. Don't sleep in class! He has a few papers based on information from the books and such. No final, but he lets you revise previous papers to better your grade. Take him.

Randall is the MAN! He is not hard at all, he is young, so he likes to joke around. It keeps the class entertained, along with himself. Don't sleep or be rude in class or you will get your tail kicked out. You get to revise your papers, which helps you see what you screwed up and make a better grade. English has never been so likeable...

I have had Randall twice and think that he is a wonderful professor. Go to class, do the work and actually enjoy life and you will do well. Screw up, make excuses and complain about attendance, and you will fail...Simple as that.

He's a cool guy and gets you into the subject. I took the class in summer school and it got kind of tedious. But all in all I would recommend him if you want to learn more than just the basics. BTW he is so friggin cute!

I think he's a really wesome professor.. he has a short fuse, but if you don't make him upset you have nothing to worry about. All he did was give us 4 papers.. he's obvious with what he wants, usually gives you a paper he wrote as a guide line.. awesome teacher

He has got to be the biggest corn ball I have ever met. He is a great teacher though and he grades easy. You get to revise 2 papers at the end of the semester. Class is often canceled for conferences.

His class is like high school all over again. Most of his classes were a waste of time although he does cancel class often. He was very very easy though.

Cool guy, really laid back. Have to do 4 papers and they are decently hard assignments, but if you go to class and listen to what he says it really helps. I'd advise taking him for freshman English.

Most helpful, most interesting, funniest professor I've had in my 4 semesters. We read countless short stories and sometimes (not often) took quizzes on them in class, followed by a discussion. Go to class, read the required readings and you will not be sorry you took Randall. Read some poetry and a novel (Wicked) at the end. Awesome guy. Take him!

Randall is really cool. The readings that he gives are interesting, but almost always dark. If you hate stories where people get killed, don't take him, because that is what you'll read. I love his class.The book is manditory and so is the course packet.He helps with the few papers he gives.(4) He can be funny and a real down to earth guy.He has no exam and the papers we write are no longer than 5 pages. I recommend him!

He is my favorite teacher. I'll be taking him for the third time next semester. His papers are a reasonable length and he is very willing to help you with all of them. He is also very funny but will call you out if you get on his nerves. haha

He is a pretty easy guy as far as work goes. Quizzes on readings that he assigns. Only problem with him is he thinks he knows it all =(! He is a liberal all the way. Gets kind of annoying!

Assigned 3 papers, in class quizzes and an occasional reading. Grades papers strictly, but allows multiple revisions if you finish the original drafts on time. Interesting class, very much time spent discussing skepticism.

Great Teacher. not alot of work and is very helpful. you have 4 papers and he will let you revise them as much as you want. No final or tests and maybe 4 really easy one qustion quizes. Hes really nice and takes class days off just to have one on one conferences with his students. I would highly recommend having him as a teacher.

GREAT GUY!He's dorky and sometimes rambles but he's a lot more enjoyable then some other professors. You can tell when he's having a bad day cuz he doesnt crack in corny jokes! He gives easy quizes if you just read! I read my stories 10 mins b4 every class! He gives a lot of help on papers and gives you a chance to revise all of them but the final!

I loved Randall's film studies class. He's very into film and knows a lot. It was a fun class. I definitely recommend him. I'm taking him again next semester for Engl 2000.

best teacher ive ever had! he always is willing to meet before or after class if youre writing a paper or have a project. he gives great feedback on papers and is super easy going. i had him for film and english class and he was awesome! definitly take him if you want an A. all you have to do is the work and its really easy stuff, 5 journal entries

Extremely condescending. Grades papers based on his interest in your topic and his personal opinions. Expects entirely too much out of students. Don't take him. Ever.

Randall isn't that bad of a teacher! There's an unspoken attendance policy but I don't think there's a punishment for missing a few classes. He pretty much BS's every class in order to get through the semester. Get on his good side and have him edit your papers beforehand and you'll do fine.

Offers enough E.C. to get you a good grade in the class. Pretty easy, if you get on his good side the class is much more enjoyable. He is pretty nice and the workload is pretty light. I missed a couple Friday classes and he wouldn't let me make up any work ... still ended with an A though

He's a pretty cool guy, and the class is very routine. The movies are decent but some nights you just don't want to go, but if it's not on netflix then you better work up the motivation or else your grade will suffer. He grades super hard, but overall it's a good class.

Nice guy, seems a little awkward but obviously enjoyed writing and the creative process. You can write about whatever and he'll be fine with it. Read the book or you'll fail every single quiz.

The course is very interesting, but the assignments are tough. You have to read a lot from the textbook during the first half of your semester. Chapters are about 60 pages each. Then you have one long paper at the end. Quizzes everyday. The professor himself is really awesome, though. Jokes around a lot but still stay on topic.

Professor Martoccia is the bomb. He is a really well respected professor and makes class a lot of fun. No final in the class, easy grader as long as you do the work and come to class. Only 3 papers throughout the semester.

I love this class! he is a great professor. gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and in class assignments that are easy A's! go to his office hours for help on your papers and he will respect you a lot for it! the better he knows you the better you will do. love him and this class. easy A if he knows you're trying.

I took him for Interpreting Literature during the Summer and actually enjoyed the class. I was never good at English, but I reallly enjoyed what stories and poems we went though. He is a tough but fair grader. He is a very nice person as long as you show him respect. Quizzes almost daily.

Great professor but semi-hard grader on papers. Gives you a lot of feedback and lecture is not as boring as other ENGL classes. Cool guy

I have always disliked writing papers but his class was key to reversing my opinion. He is very approachable and helpful. I went to him before every due date and he would read through and correct my paper and tell me exactly what to do to get an A+ . So easy and such a good guy. Please take him.

My writing quality got worse as the semester went on because of stress & illness, but Mr Martoccia was understanding and gave good constructive criticism. The small class size gives him a chance to get to know each student. He had us do a lot of group projects & peer review each paper, so this class was the only one that I made acquaintances in.

Mr. Randall is a great teacher. He is a strict grader but he gives good feedback on papers and is always willing to help. There is homework due mostly every class but its never too much. There are 2 papers and the homework he assigns helps a lot with getting a good grade on those. Makes class enjoyable!

I took this class my sophomore year and really enjoyed Martoccia's teaching style and approach to writing. He took time to help me figure out the portfolio system and was always encouraging students to ask more questions. He can be sarcastic, I feel like this is misconstrued sometimes! Overall, I appreciated what I learned in his class.

I actually liked Mr. Martoccia! He is a tough grader but if you go see him during office hours then he will help you. He has helped me become a better writer. The only thing I didn't like was that you don't see your grade until the very end of the semester.
