Professor Murphy is a class act. He makes the class interesting and fun. You will not be bored during his lectures and he is fair in grading. He seems to care about his students and wants them to learn from his course. If you study the material he goes over prior to the test, you'll do fine.

I took this class online. It was easy...up until the midterm. It was 25 multiple choice and 10 essay questions. Yes! TEN! and not short answer. You actually have to write 10 essays. If you like to torture yourself this is the class for you.

Online. A lot of reading with weekly homework assignments (discussion topics that correlated with the assigned weekly chapters). Midterm was 5 lengthy discussion questions that had to be completed within 3 days. As long as you participate & keep up with your assignments you will do fine. Class is easy but time consuming. Would take proff again.

I took his online course. I enjoyed his course, it's fairly easy if you follow his instructions. Post discussions, from 400+ words due every week. One 5 page book report - the book changed my life tbh. I'm glad he assigned the essay to us. The final is 800 word essay. No quizzes or multiple choice, just writing. Dont worry, it's all from the book.

He is a great teacher, he is hilarious and will make you laugh, that is what makes class interesting and fun, he explains so well all the terms we need for the tests and if you don't understand something he will go back and explain it even better, his test though, are kind of difficult, but all you need is study and assist to his study sessions.

Took him for online lifespan psych. The class is fairly easy to make an A as long as you follow the directions laid out in the weekly discussions. The book is essential, but I didn't really read the book. It's basically all discussions and essays and responding to your classmates. As long as you turn things in on time, the class is not difficult.

I took professor Murphy online for the fall 2016 semester and would take him again. Every week there is a 300-400 word essay + 2 peer discussions. No tests. Also a book report due towards the end of the semester. The final and midterms are both essay form. Hes very understanding and organized and responds quickly to any questions.

I took 2314 fall 2016, Dr. Murphy is a great instructor. This class does require you to write a lot but it's NOT difficult. Pretty easy stuff, summarizing chapters while using terms from the chapter. Midterm n final are essays. & there's 1 book report, 5 pgs. I'm no writer but I recommend this class. Always gives feedback/answers all q's.

One of the best professors I ever had. His lectures are never boring and he gives a lot of extra credit (about 5%). Every assignment is worth a fifth of the grade so no need to panic if you do worse on the final. Definitely recommend.

He made the class very interesting by having us do research and then writing papers. He has always been encouraging and offering his help outside of class. It is evident that he wants all of the students to do well. He has a sense of humor. I hope to take a class from him again. He is one of the best teachers at HCC.

I have taken 3 psychology classes. The first one I failed and the second one I withdrew. This class of professor Murphy however was a true gem. He is very clear on what he expects and hes very helpful. I wouldve gotten an A+ but I didnt take each quiz 2 more times bc I was very busy but yes! You have 3 chances to do your quizzes! Professor Murphy made the class very accessible, opening discussions for us to engage in. Each week you will write a 300-400 word analysis based on the chapter you read. The textbook is the best way to go when writing these. The exam is open for 2-3 days and you will have to write around 5, 300-400 analysis, dont worry they are super easy!

Each week there is a discussion post to complete. There is also a mid-term, book analysis, and final exam throughout the semester. The work was not too difficult, but Prof. Murphy does expect thorough and thoughtful work, so definitely put in time and effort. He was also very understanding and easy to access, even with an online class.

Prof. Murphy laid everything out well Exams/Quizzes were 300/1000 (discussion based writing), Written Assignments were 300/100, Midterm was 200/1000, and the final was 200/1000. As other reviews have stated, this is an essay heavy course but with good time management and persuasiveness it was nothing you cant do. EC was also available.
