It is a very easy 'A' (everyone in my class got an 'A' if they showed up and did the in class work, he literally didn't grade anything just entered it as an 'A', yay!) and fun class.

He made both Intro to Political Science and American Government a cakewalk to get an A. He gave you full credit on the pop quizzes as long as you back up why you support or oppose the issue. Although there's homework in nearly every class, they're not hard. I had Randy for Contemporary Social Problem. It was hands down the BEST class ever at KVCC. We all learned so much! Randy allows you to take your mistakes, think about why they happened, create new ways to deal with those mistakes, and then try it again. While the quizzes were hard and the paper long, what you learn from this class is AMAZING!

Enjoyable guy. Funny, knowledgeable. Yes, you have to study a lot. Yes, the tests were difficult (but not impossible). All info comes from lecture, and doing well on the quizzes and assignments helps significantly. He's very helpful, and really wants students to learn the material. I would recommend taking a course with him.

Randy is a tremendous and very well-liked professor with a great sense of humor. He manages to take a very dry topic (constitutional law) and make it so interesting that it will leave you wishing on some days that class time wasn't up. He'll happily explain things in different ways if you have questions and doesn't talk down to students.

I took this course just because it was a pre-req but I was extremely interested in it by the end of the course, and it really made me make realizations about my political beliefs and introduced me to many new ones.

Randy is the coolest guy ever. He is aware that probably 99% of the class does not want to be in a history course and makes it less painful. I found myself learning a lot more from him than any other high school teacher. Easy class. You have 12 quizzes he drops 2! 2 papers on 2 books, midterm and exam are also papers. CAKE!

Very easy class, he definitely makes lectures interesting. I took his class during election time, by looking at all of the positive reviews I must have caught his class at a bad time. I can see how he would be funny if his jokes aren't directed at you. I wouldn't take his class if you are passionate about your religion, race or president.

When my class with Randy first got started, I was a bit thrown off by how chaotic he seemed to be. He often changed expectations and rules on a whim, but never asks more of you than he expects from himself. He was never unreasonable and truly cares about what he teaches his students. If given the chance, take his class. It won't be a waste.

Now a senior at Western, I consider Randy as one of funniest professors that I've had at Valley. There are no exams, just daily writing assignments, pop quizzes that had no right or wrong answer, and a final group project (Truman Trial) at the end of the semester. As long as you do all of those, you are guaranteed an A at the end of the semester.

I get why everyone loves him so much. Personally, although I found class to be very entertaining, I do feel like he is unorganized when it comes to actually teaching the material. Maybe because he assumes everyone already knows about politics? He spoke too fast when we were told to take notes, but we did have some fun debates and conversation.
