All tests based on notes he uploaded to the Blackboard... If you get anything lower than a B, you should be smacked... Study questions for tests are word-for-word!

Prof Barry is a really nice guy, always ready to help you. Very approachable, his door is always open and he is always there if you need any help or just an advice. He really cares about his student's success. I hope he doesn't leave anytime soon.

Very easy A. Makes learning extremely easy. You walk away actually knowing what just happened. He has a great way of explaining things.

Very Easy Class. I went like 8 times all semester. Review the notes on Blackboard. He teaches strait from those notes so if you miss class you're OK. EASY A. He gives extra credit on the hourly exams and even on the FINAL.

AWSOME GUY!!!! If you just study his notes, you can get an A or B in the class with the extra credit. without the extra credit I would of gotten a C, but thanks to the EC, I got a B. Very hard to get an A on the tests, quite tricky, but EC helps so much.

Nice guy, but incredibly boring class. Attendance not required, but he makes it sound like you have to be there. Don't bother buying the book, all notes are on Blackboard. Tests are alright if you study a lot, but he gives you a TON of information in his notes.

Easy A. Explains himself very well and has practice questions before every test. Just go over the lecture notes and the tests will go fine. Takes attendence but doesn't count against you if you don't go. I highly recommend this professor!

AWSOME!!! Shows a very enthusiastec passion for what he does and still doesn't feel "superior" in any way. He shows a strong effort in making sure that you understand and enjoy the class. I give him an A+

Barry Rocks!!! This class is one of the easiest classes I've had so far. Just study the Blackboard notes and be there when he hands out extra credit-it helps out for the tests. Barry office hours are flexible and he is more than willing to help you out if your having trouble. I am going to take Barry again for my next WX class! I <3 U Pro. Barry!

Wow does this guy love meteorology. If you stay awake during the classes, and review his super long presentations, then it's a no-brainer. I think I got a 104% after all the extra credit. Just make sure you do it!

I thought the class itself was pretty useless. Prof. Barry is a nice guy. He sometimes gives people weird looks, but I dont think he realizes that he's doing that. Class is extremely BORING! It's nothing but lecture and tests. Bring a laptop to class to help pass the time. Overall, nice guy.

Great professor! I hated everything about weather before this class and now I'm minoring in it! He doesn't use the textbook, so don't worry about buying it and for the exams, just study the lecture outlines online and you will be golden. The same goes for the final. I recommend him for any class he teaches!

Prof. Barry is awesome! He doesn't require you to have the textbook, all Q's on test are off his powerpoints. The material is a little dry but he tries to make it fun and explain it clearly. Great class.

Excellent professor, loves his field of teaching, but also has a passion for aviation; this is rare among the meteorologists. Great sense of humor. Takes questions all period. Lectures can be lengthy, but he does his best to keep it interesting. Decent tolerance for student-to-student chatting in class. Far from monotonous (this is what matters).

I had NO interest in learning about the weather at all before entering this class, but after the second week, I was getting into it. Mr. Barry does a great job of explaining things when you need help, and is very respectful towards students who, unfortunately, don't seem to give him the same amount in return.

Dr. Barry was an awesome professor. I had him early in the morning, which made the material seem even more boring. However, Dr. Barry taught very well, tried to keep the class involved by asking questions, and does a very comprehensive review for the exams. You NEED to study for the exams, but they are very fair. I recommend him. You'll learn alot.

Course was taught well, assignments and test material were easy and straightforward. One of the better professors at Embry-Riddle

One of the most detailed professors I have ever had. Take lots of notes because the homework and tests come from that. If you pay attention and go to class it's an easy a or b.

I have little interest in Meteorology, but Dr. Barry kept me interested enough. I would take him for another class if I could.

Dr. Barry was very informative and presented the material very clearly. All of the quiz and test questions came straight from his lectures. No surprises. Definitely an easy A if you put any effort at all into the class.

He is a very good and passionate teacher for meteorology. Try to stay awake in class and go everyday cause attendance is part of your grade. Study the homework assignments and the exam study questions. He is fairly easy but if you do not pay attention in his lecture you will be lost.

Highly recommend this instruct. He's courteous and clarifies any issues you may have. Quizzes, tests, and activities are applied knowledge from the lecture. This guy really knows his material.

Highly recommend this motivated professional instructor. Knows his subject in and out and will help you understand anything you need help with. Most enthusiastic teacher I have had at Riddle, if you like WX, Barry is the man.

Two things about Barry: He's picky with your answers to math problems, and he's very willing to help you with anything. These two qualities happen to make you learn quite a lot in his classes. Bottom line, he goes the whole 9 yards in everything he does. Class examples, explainations, HW problems, etc.

Dr. Barry is a great teacher. Course material is presented very well and he won't hesitate to answer any questions you have. If you pay attention and study for the tests, you're almost guaranteed an A. If you have the opportunity, definitely take his class.

Class material is difficult. But Dr. Barry does talk very clearly and writes excellent notes. Be prepared to write 5 or 6 pages of notes daily.

If you are thinking about taking Randy Barry, DO IT. He is a committed professor who is incredibly good at explaining topics from multiple aspects. You can tell he loves what he does, and that makes his class legitimately interesting. Do NOT abuse your electronic devices, or he will go nuts! You can use a laptop, but don't get caught texting!

He was one of my first teachers when I transferred in, finding out his hometown wasn't far from mine made things easy. Pay attention in class and reviews. DO NOT get caught texting or using a laptop for other than notes and DO NOT talk while he is, his scary side comes out. Overall he is a great teacher and he knows what hes talking about

He is a great caring teacher. Homework assignments are questions straight from the lectures. Not hard at all. Test are okay, nothing special about them. You have one homework assignment every week. Lectures can be long, but just pay attention and study for test and do the homework and you'll get a easy A.

Barry is so focused on making sure the students learn. As long as you show serious focus and attempt to put your full effort into the class, most assignments come back with a 100% on them. His tests can be tricky, as they require a lot of attention to the lectures. Lectures can be long but definitely one of the coolest classes I've taken at Riddle.

Randell sets you up to pass. You get 2 points onto your final grade (ie you can go from an 88 to a 90) just for having perfect attendance. In addition, every test is curved.

Simply put, Dr. Barry is a great teacher. He teaches in a very clear manner. Tests are directly from the lecture. Just a great guy, it's obvious that he cares about everybody learning the material and doing well in the course. Take Barry, you won't regret it.

Dr. Barry is a very passionate professor. Although lectures are long, they are usually entertaining, and his demonstrations of some concepts are awesome! He cares about the students and he is extremely knowledgeable, making it a fun and interesting class. Concepts are clear and easy to understand. Show up, pay attention, study the notes and pass.

WX 201 was a fairly straight forward class. This class can be pretty boring at times, but occasionally learning about weather can be pretty interesting. You'll definitely have to study and pay attention, but other than that it should be an easy A.

Easy enough class. All answers to homework are in his lecture notes. Tests are pretty much the same as homework questions. Gives lots of extra credit which is nice. The only con is his lectures can get boring.

Knows his stuff & explains it very well

This dude is a legend. He'll straight up roast you if you give him sass. However, hes an understanding guy and his wx201 class is easy if you take notes and pay attention. Every prospective student should get an easy A with him.

Professor Barry is a solid choice. We had several quizzes, a midterm, a group project, and a final throughout the year. 50% of your quiz grade is just showing up! Lectures may feel a bit boring at times. Overall solid choice; should be an easy A if you study a little.

Works very hard for his students. Great lectures and presentation of course material. Very knowledgeable about the material. Very well spoken. One of the hardest classes I've taken and yet I have nothing but great things to say. This is a testament to the quality of instruction.

Dr. Barry sets you up for success. Lectures can be dry, but sit up front to stay awake (to get an easy A). Homework (for us) was given every other class consisting of 15-25 M/C questions based on the his presentations. These are similar/same as his test questions (incl Cumulative Final). 2 Xtra cred questions per test. EC given for good attendance

Professor Barry is the best WX prof out there. Super fun guy especially if you enjoy weather. Tests are just like the quizzes so study those and you'll be all good for an A.

Dr. Barry is a really nice and very understanding professor. He tries to make the class as interesting as possible. The content of the class itself is pretty easy but it can get really boring some times. Take notes during the class and study for the tests and you should be fine.

Uses In-Class Exercises and Take Home quizzes to help you understand content and very helpful PowerPoints/lectures. He really does a great job and is very easy to communicate to. He does not really use Canvas (grades not posted anywhere) which kind of blows but he is quick to give you grade updates should you ask.

Dr. Barry is a great professor that genuinely cares about his students. Although his class was hybrid this semester which means we only had one class instead of two, the lectures were very good. They really helped us learn the course content. He replies to emails quickly if you have questions and is very helpful. Highly recommend him for WX.

My biggest issue was that my section was in the afternoon after lunch and he would turn the lights down low for the presentation which would put half the class to sleep. But he puts all the info you need to pass on his presentations which are available online. Quizzes and assignments throughout the semester but they are pretty easy. Easy overall.

Difficult material, but a welcoming professor. All material in the course (aside from hwk reqs) are delivered in-class. Do not miss lectures. Doesn't put grades online, but states overall grade after each exam. Regularly involves class to participate in critical thinking questions. Tough, but mostly reasonable grader. He's always got a smile on! :)

Hybrid Class. Online Exams and quizzes which are super easy. Lectures are boring, but only went to class for 1 hr, once a week. Which was nice. Takes attendance. Very easy.

Easy class. Homework is very easy as well as class. The tests are online and make up most of the course grade. Great Proffessor who actually shows enthusiasm and knows exactly what hes teaching and how to do it without you watching the clock.

every assignment is found on Quizlet, easy A. You only have to go once a week and if you even decide to go, his lectures and fun and interesting. You will always learn something even if you show up not wanting to learn anything at all.

Easy A. Just show up to know homework deadlines and get attendance credit through his two-question "in-class assignments". Tests are online, no shutdown browser.

He is VERY passionate about weather. Pretty funny guy too. Lectures in class with a weekly homework assignment. The tests are the same questions as the homeworks so not hard at all.

A good choice if you're looking for an easy class to pass. Dr Barry, however, is not the best at ensuring you understand the concept, so I would recommend you take someone else if you will use this class in the rest of your major. If you are looking for a class for an easy A/B though, Dr Barry is probably the way to go.

Probably one of the most knowledgeable people on campus. His lectures are incredibly detailed without being overwhelming and of great quality. Sandboxes are a great way to practice for tests, and the questions really help your understanding. Tests aren't too hard but make sure you know, but I wouldn't worry too much so long as you understand it.

Lecture heavy and sometimes tough to keep up with notes, but slides are available for review on Canvas. Practice quizzes available to study for the quizzes and exams. Multiple attempts on all homework quizzes. It's clear he cares about the material and will explain charts/diagrams in great detail as well as answer any questions.

Professor Barry is a super chill and interesting guy. His lectures are a lot of info at once but its all useful for the exams. There are 5 exams and the final. He gives you homework quizzes each chapter and "sandbox" questions (infinite practice) to go with each one so you can guarantee a 100 on each. Study sandbox for each exam and you'll ace it.

Dr. Barry is very kind, and he is passionate about the material he is lecturing on. He moves pretty quickly through the slideshows, but they are all available to you through Canvas to follow along in class. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be this: DO THE SANDBOXES UNTIL YOU CAN DO THEM WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED and you'll ACE the class.

Exams take up over 85% of your grade. However these exams are pulled from homework questions that you can practice endlessly until you feel set with them. I usually have anxiety about tests like this, but a quick day of studying before an exam by running through the practice questions will get you an A.

Dr. Barry is very passionate about the course content and teaching as a whole. Took the 8:00 am class but he was always very energetic. Lectures move fast and are slideshow heavy. Pay attention and do the Sandboxes as they are the same questions you will find on the HW/exams. 3 exams make up the majority of your grade so make sure to prepare.

Interesting class. Lecture/ slideshow every class and they are posted to Canvas. There are practice tests (sandboxes) that have the same questions on the test. Practice those and you'll be good to go. Attendance is mandatory.

Fantastic professor! He is a tough grader, but he teaches very understandable notes for a very complicated course. He is accessible outside of class A LOT, so make sure to talk to him! One of the nicest professors that I've had at ERAU!

Dr. Barry is a very knowledgeable professor from Upstate NY. His knowledge is made clear through his lectures. If you do not learn well from PowerPoints, this class is NOT for you. Every single class meeting was a lecture, besides the test days. Each test was 25% of the final grade! For exam prep, make sure to do the sandbox activities.

His experience and knowledge of material speaks for itself. Everything on tests/HW is in the notes and while they are lengthy, I have some of the best notes I've ever taken. He is genuinely a caring and nice guy and expresses this in how he teaches and talks to students. Don't miss class though or you'll miss notes.

Dr. Barry is very knowledgeable on the topics covered in class and is always open to questions. All my questions were answered well and helped me understand class content. Additionally he is very kind and is willing to work with you if needed. Overall the class is interesting and Dr. Barry is very good at elaborating on all topics in the course.

Prof. Barry is a good professor for the course! You can tell he enjoys teaching the course and wants you to get the most out of it. Quizzes are pretty easy and there is a midterm exam as well as a final exam. There are exercise assignments that help with learning and he grades it throughly- which helps when making mistakes with Skew-T charts!

He is the textbook, do not miss class. Very passionate and knowledgeable, wants you to learn, but is a very tough grader with very specific criteria. Effort is necessary, but it is a very enjoyable class with other upper level Met students

I am forever part of the Randell Barry fan club. I typically don't like lecture-heavy courses, but this was fine. Assignments are graded on accuracy, not completion. He really goes out of his way to make sure you get an A if you put effort into being present and doing your best.

Dr. Barry's class is challenging but engaging. Attend lectures and focus on the sandbox practice questions - they're key to acing the exams. Unstuck study AI can be a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.

The class was almost enitrely dependent on lecture from slides, but his teaching style made the material understandable and easily digestible. The exams require a decent amount of preparation due to high content, but there are ample ways provided to prepare. I purchased (but never used) the textbook, the "Sandbox" quizzes helped well enough.
