Her lectures are SO interesting and she has and enjoys what she does.
Great teacher! Go to class, test from lecture
No Comments
she's great, her lectures pull you in unless your a ****ing retard
she is cool
Knows her subject... Told us to rate her a chili pepper.
had a blast in her class. very colorful lectures
She is very passionate about History! Her lectures are interesting and the tests are easy! Just go to class and you'll pass! She has a bit of a sailor tongue though...just incase you don't like that sort of thing.
Great teacher, dissapointed she didn;t have a chili pepper though so i gave her one, makes class interesting
ochen' horosho! kruto! (very good! awesome!) made this history interesting....bol'shoe spasibo! (very big thanks!)

I thought she was great. She's really into the course material and she's willing to answer questions and to admit if she doesn't know something. Her tests are really easy if you stay awake in class and do the readings. She makes things easy to remember
She's a really interesting teacher but she has a very liberal bias on most stuff and it gets sort of frustrating. Good teacher though and not that hard.
VERY boring class, I wanted to fall asleep everyday. Only take this class if you enjoy reading history for quizzes every single class day.
readings help on the essay part of test, if you go to class you can ace the multilple choice
She is so cool... makes the lecture intresting. Because of her I like history! TAKE her if you can.. alhough I have heard that now she gives essays!
Great Teacher. Take during summer NO ESSAYS, NO INTERVIEW PROJECT. EASY
Dr. Cox is a great teacher. She is inotuch with the students, on their level.
Ummm... I know there has 2 b a better teacher teaching this course. She's unclear but knows her information, avoids some periods n history that should b discussed. She's okay better to take n the summer. Some lectures are really boring, b ready 2 read.
Great teacher. Easy tests. Great for summer!!!
She is such a wonderful teacher. Her lectures are very intresting and her tests are easy if you study for them. She will also help you out with any problems you night have!! Defintley take her if you can
Bad teacher. I had a 79 and I came to class everyday and she gave me a C. Quizzes everyday, she treated the class like it was a 3 or 400 level class when it was just a survey. It is one of the two C's I have ever made. She knows her stuff, but lousy prof.
Her tests are a little hard. She's a good professor when it comes to teaching..she knows her stuff and gets you to understand the material. But she teaches class as if your a junior or senior when its a freshman course!
She is an awesome teacher! Just go to class, take notes, and do the reading and it is an easy A. She likes to shock you. Probably one of the easier History teachers at SFA.
Cox is a pretty good teacher. She tries to make lectures as interesting as possible. The test aren't extremely difficult either. Just study because her lectures are really straight forward. Great teacher
Dr. Cox is the best history professor I've ever had. Just go to every class, take notes, read the books, and you'll make a good grade! Good teacher, and she's very friendly!! I think she's the easiest history teacher at SFA, too!!
This lady knows her stuff! She makes lectures interesting. The test are very hard! She is the best history teacher I've ever had. Take her!
Best History prof at SFA. Take her. To do well on the test you just need to take good notes, you don't really even have to read the text book, but she assigns other books to read, but they are interesting. Will help students who need it.
Knows what she is talking about and very easy to take notes from. Very specific about what she wants you to know and will usually tell u exactly which points u need to know. Quite a bit of reading too. Still a good professor though. Tests are semi-hard.
The best professor I have ever had period. She is also the best lecturer that's ever stepped foot on Nacogdoches soil. The books she assigns are painless to read. If you don't really like history this is the gal to sign up for.
She is interesting and has her own opinions about things. Read the books, not hard at all. Go to class because most of the test comes from her lectures. Gives good test reviews. Attendance doesn't hurt, but it helps alot.
She sucks. She is very biased and greades to her personal opinion and has no concern for the work has been done. She gives a review sheet and the information you work on to take the test is never on the exam. She is boring and instructs the whole class.
She has a way of making HIS 152 interesting to learn the material. She is very fair at the grading, and her tests are not too bad
THE WORST TEACHER EVER,ALL YA'LL ARE LOCO TO SAY SHE'S GOOD. SHE WAS VERY UNFAIR W/THE GRADING. ALWAYS CAME TO CLASS ON SOMETHING. ALWAYS WANTED TO TALK ABOUT DRUGS AND WHERE TO GET THEM. IF U WANT TO LEARN GO W/SOMEONE ELSE.
Too much reading. Very unorganized-takes forever to return grades. Tries to make it interesting but doesnt succeed. Essays are difficult...steer clear!
Shes very nice and interesting. Take this class if you like to learn about society. Shes very helpful and as long as you pay attention you should do fine.
quiz EVERY class. im an a student and i got a 79.3 and she gave me a c...makes you do a project and the tests are ESSAY and 10 Multchoice questions over like 100 pgs of material..very liberal and hates sorority girls..made fun of me in class..dont takeher
Very funny prof., but I think she's pretty boring, probably because my class is so big and she lectures alot. Very helpful outside of class, you have to read 3 painless books and tests are mult choice/essay and are not difficult if you do her study guide.
She is by far one of the best history teachers that I have ever had. She knows her stuff, and she is hilarious so class is always interesting. You have to read 3 easy books and you have quizzes over them that are very easy. She is also very nice and helpful. Take Randi Cox!
EASY!!! If you go to class and take the notes you will be fine! She tells you in the beginning of the semester attendance isnt necessary, it helps w/the notes! Take the notes and study them and you will be fine, the 3 books u read are easy! She gives study guides on what to study out of the notes!
Great professor. I have always HATED history, but after taking her class, it was actually interesting to me. For tests, you don't have to know dates and numbers, which is awesome, because who can remember those dates anyway? Would def. recommend Dr. Cox for history.
She is awesome! I never really liked history, but she makes it very fun and interesting. There is quite a bit of reading and studying, but it pays off! She is funny and is always willing to help you. The comments she makes are hilarious, and really get some people going. SHE ROCKS!
easy class, straight forward, always tells you exactly what she wants, enjoyed the class, would definitely recommend it
She is a very easy teacher if you go to lecture and read the assigned books. She is very relaxed in class and also in her office. Her tests are very easy as well.
I really loved the interview assignment that she had, but felt like the grading system really made it ahrd to make a good overall grade in the class. I hated the points scale and was very dissapointed in my final grade because of it. Nonetheless, Cox did make the class interesting in my opinion.
I had her last year and the class was interesting. She is a feminist though so guys look out. She is also an all out democrat. I wrote great essays on vietnam and other wars where I took a right wing stand and I got C's. While people with other opinions got B's and A's.
She is awesome. Very interesting prof.
Awesome teacher... made the class interesting and fun. Go to every class and take notes and you will at least get a B or C if not an A. Lecture is reinforced by the book. Must read 3-4 novels/memoirs that go with lecture... with quizzes. READ THE NOVELS and you'll do fine... don't wait til last minute to do interview project. Great professor!
great teacher. I've learned so much!!!!
clear, engaging, and sometimes pretty damn funny. if you're gonna take this course, take it with her.
I absolutely loved taking 134 from Carns. She made it very interesting and kept you entertained. She's an awesome woman. Take a history from her if you get the chance. She rocks my socks off! =)
awesome professor! she makes history entertaining and fun! she curses every once in a while just to get your attention. gives option to take an essay portion, but she is very easy grader on the essay. had no clue about most of the books and got a "b" on every essay! take her!
Dr. Cox is without a doubt my favorite teacher. She is really nice and the biggest thing is I am working harder than I am in any other class but somehow I still want to take her next semester.
great teacher, very liberal (though she'll never say it straight out, but she HAS to be) so props there love having liberal profs, um... yeah, she was prolly my 2nd best prof here at sfa, though i didn't go to class all that often
Made a low C in History 133 with a different teacher, but was able to make an A in this class. Easy, as long as you do the assigned reading and know the terms on the study guide.
AWESOME TEACHER...if you read the assigned books and study the key terms she gives you prior to the exam you will do great. I read the books and only studied the key terms and made A's on all of the tests. There is an interview project but she grades them easy and is fair. TAKE COX FOR HISTORY...
great professor, but not easy. it is fun, even when you work hard
Her class is fairly organized and straight forward. No surprises on the exam. For me, graded the paper assignments much harder than the exams. I found it difficult to locate her during office hours. But overall, I would recommend her. Come to class, study, you should be fine.

I hate history, last semester I barely passes his 133. I'm making a solid A in this class. She gives you every opportunity to succeed. Her lectures are interesting, and tests are easy (if you study). She gives you a study guide for each test and all the books too. I totally recommend taking her.
a very good teacher...i basically just wrote nonsense on the essay's and passed them..the test are pretty easy as well they are all multiple choice and then of course req. reading and quizzes are very easy...easy passing grade in my view...good teacher
Very good teacher. Tests are not hard if do the reading. Interview project is a little difficult. Her lectures are very clear and doesn't go too fast. I thought she was pretty interesting too. I have a borderline A/B. I totally recommend her.
Dr. Cox is not an easy teacher, but she'll pull the best out of you in your papers. I like her lecture style. She's upbeat and funny. Wonderful sense of humor too, at least with her honors :)class (take that one if you can). It's a lot more fun.
Man she grades really fair. She gave a lot of work and reading and papers, but man she grades really fair. Her tests and quizzes and papers were graded fair. She wanst you to read, but study notes and you will do well on the tests.
She seems to be nice. She does not seem to be interested in the subject material she is teaching. This may have been because I was in a class that she taught right before, so she was just going over material, but either way really boring.
She was a great teacher, you HAVE to go to class everyday or you will never catch up. Be prepared to do a lot of note taking and writing; for she gives essay tests, and essay quizes. Really knows her material and gives a good spin on a old subject matter and makes it interesting.
Awesome professor! You have to read 3-4 novels and take quizes over them. The tests were one short essay over one of the books, a long essay over lecture and textbook and 10 multiple choice questions. Dont let the essays scare you, she gives you 6 questions before the test and 2 of those questions will be on there and you pick the one you know best
I loved her class. She has the best sense of humor and is fair in grading all the assignments. If you have a conflict she works with you. I highly recommend taking her
Power point lectures are okay at best (boring) but make sure you take notes - tests need to be studied for. Required reading novels are terrible and are on tests/quizzes. Interview project is easy. Offers multi-choice or essay exams. Take her if another higher rated isn't available.
HILARIOUS! There are three books she assigns to read throughout the semester that you HAVE to read or else you'll fail the reading quizzes. As far as the textbook goes, you don't need to read everything she assigns. She gives a study guide before the tests to let you know EXACTLY what's going to be on the tests. She's great.
She's an awesome professor! But be prepared to work and read a lot. Her classes aren't easy, but we're in college, it's not suppose to be easy. You can tell she loves history, especially Russian history! She assigns a lot of reading so be sure to read. Tests in upper level classes are all essay and short answer so study notes and take them!
Dr. Cox is cool. She has a nerdy sense of humor sometimes, but she's very fair in grading.
cox is a good teacher she explains everything clear but her test are mult. choice and you have to write a three page essay.
Dr. Cox is a fantastic teacher! Take her if you can! Very helpful. If you have questions go to her office! She is very nice! Very fair grading. I made an A. Not hard if you go to class, study your notes, and do the required reading! Totally recommend her.
great teacher!!! She brags about her video game scores and she is in her 40's. very good speaker. easy to pay attention to what she says. take good notes. be prepared to write. great teacher, great class, would highly recommended!
I took history after 1877...shes awesome. Tests are DIRECTLY from notes and book you read for the course. Easy "b", you might have to work for the A. Take her
Great Teacher! Very helpful! She keeps the course interesting, you wont be bored.
Mrs. Cox is very good at her subject. She tries her best to keep history interesting; just take good notes, read the assigned books, and study the class should be a breeze.
Absolutely love her! She keeps the class funny and entertaining. She knows that the class finds as boring and will do her best to just give the highlights of the boring stuff. I HIGHLY recommend her!
WONDERFUL teacher! She's so nice and really loves what she teaches. She definitely cares about her students and will do anything to help. She doesn't take role, but her class is interesting so go! She tells you what is going to be on the exam and going to SI is really helpful. Totally recommend her!
EASY class. Go to class and sit there and listen and you will be fine. What she says is LITERALLY on your tests. very easy. We only had to read one other book and write an easy paper on it and I hate reading BUT it was a very very easy read. Take her for both 133 and 134 and you WILL pass.
I honestly did not like this class. She grades extremly hard on essay's and her lectures are not intersting at all. Really everything I learned from this class came from reading the book, not from her. I would not waste my time or money ever taking her class.
Take this professor. If I am one who can't stand a teacher putting a political spin on their lecture and can still enjoy her class, that says how good the teacher is.
Lectures are super boring. She grades really hard pn tests and essays. You have to read three books, and you'd be stupid not to get an A on all the book quizzes. Only reason I got a B is because she accidentally but in one of my exam grades as an A
Dr. Cox is amazing! I am considering majoring in history because of her. She is hilarious and so intelligent. She is helpful and kind. I honestly never used the book...as in never. You do have to read the three novels but my other history prof did that too so I assume that is fairly standard. Lots of extra credit. Would take her again and again!
Dr. Cox is great!! Very nice and helpful, not intimidating at all. Class can be a little boring but she makes a clear effort to keep it interesting most of the time. You don't need the book as long as you attend lecture and take good notes (although attendance isn't required.) Quizzes and tests are very easy. Would take her again!
She does her best to make history as interesting as possible. She is a good teacher who isnt afraid to curse in class to get your attention. She does grade pretty hard on essays. However, she will work with you if you need help or just extra time on an assignment.
She is an ok teacher. She has tests and quizzes that contain short answer and an essay which I didn't like. Try to avoid this teacher if you can to not have to deal with writing.
Sweetest teacher! she does her best to keep the class entertaining she does grade pretty hard. Quizzes over the books and short answers on the test. You have to read and pay attention in class to pass, overall if you takes good notes and read the books you will pass. Also she does a lot of extra credit. No textbook needed. shes a pretty great!
All good
She gives really good lectures, goes slow and repeats things when asked to. She really emphasizes important points and tells you when you need to write something down. There's a lot of reading and we have a lot of essays, but the longest one assigned was 3 pages. Slow grader, but gives amazing feedback.
Only have 2 test Midterm and Final they are worth a lot, you will have 2 debates and must participate to get full credit. She grades tough, she expect you to be very detail with answers if not you will not get a good grade. She makes it harder than what class should really be.
Grades only consist of 2 practice essays (1 page), 2 debates, 1 major essay (4 pages), and 2 tests. It may look tough but as long as you show up to the lectures and pay attention, its an easy grade. There's no memorizing random facts and dates, just understanding major concepts. She's super helpful, understanding, and friendly.
Very picky, test are hard you have 4 mini essays, also you have 2 debates best advice do not take her she will make it seem like your passing but actually failing you.
2 test midterm and final 2 debates and you must participate, she grades you on every little detail so b specific, her lectures are boring, she believes in giving flex points so take over the opportunity when given cause it might help you out. You would also be required to read a book and write a essay over it. OVERALL POO!!! class
When I first found out that this class did not require a textbook I thought it was strange since it's a US HIS class. I've used books for history classes since the beginning. Taking it without a book like this class is like learning a whole new language. She grades papers strictly. I recommend taking it under someone else that uses a book
She is extremely unorganized. Takes forever to get your grades back to you. Didn't need a textbook but wish we had because if you miss class, you have no way of catching up except office hours. She's a nice enough lady, but I would never take her class again.
She is a very difficult professor. She doesn't tell you when class is cancelled. She has made it to where we are behind from lectures. There is no book for the history class and it makes it extremely difficult. I would recommend taking it under someone else. It should be her consequence for cancelling classes not ours to where we are put behind.
Do NOT take this professor. At first I thought by not having a textbook it would be awesome, now I with we had one. She gives no extra credit and takes months to put grades in (never got our midterm grade). There are only two tests, a midterm and final as well as 4 essays (tests multiple choice and essays). She is a tough grader! Good luck!!!
First I understand special circumstances so late grades idk past semesters, but ours was pretty bad sadly. THERE IS a textbook it's online, and it can help just not too much. HOWEVER she posts a review for midterm and you need to learn that thing for the short answer response. Multiple choice is basic, but short answer will get you. Finals A PLZ
Every bad comment about this professor is probs by someone who just doesn't agree with some of her beliefs. She did struggle with timely grades BUT it was because of health reasons, not entirely her fault. I love how she is so open and honest about things and def makes class a joy, you learn abt history and how it relates to life today. SHE LIT
I loved this class. She was a great professor. She had several health problems which is why we didnt get our grade but besides that. She is a joy to learn from and a great lecturer. She knows her facts and explains in a way you can understand. The class isn't hard if you study and are prepared for class. She cares about what the students WANT.
Dr. Cox is definitely the best profesor I've had so far at SFA. She is hilarious and an easy grader. We did have a lot of homework but it was just reading so it wasn't bad at all. She is very sweet, passionate about her work, and always ready to help.
Definitely hated this class. Your grade is made up of mostly papers and some debates that she takes FOREVER to grade. She lectures the entire time so if you don't take notes you'll be screwed since her powerpoints are mainly just pictures. If you're not good at writing avoid this class bc she is a hard grader!!
She's a great lecturer, but gives you few assignments to learn from. She doesn't really respond to emails either. I really enjoyed the class in general, even though I hate history. She has an entertaining way of explaining boring things and it's an easy class to pass.
This class was different than I expected from a history class. Instead of learning everything within the time period being discussed, you go over 3/4 major concepts and you still are left not knowing much. Grading takes forever so you aren't really sure how you are doing in the class. Lectures are boring and I could've learned everything myself.
She's fun and does try to make the lectures funny by making jokes. The lectures had a lot of information but none of it was presented in her actual powerpoints so we had to guess what was or wasn't important. If taking her, avoid the 2 and a half hour class because it is hard to learn a week's worth of info in that time. Essays are BIG grades.
Dr. Cox is an ok prof. She can get off topic during lectures sometimes, and it's hard to tell what info is important. You will have to do a lot of research outside of class if you want to do good. Overall, she's not terrible, but if you can, try to take someone else
She was amazing, and she really prioritizes her students. She doesnt give out many grades and she isnt the fastest grader but she always made a point to check in on her students and make sure we understood the material. She is very big on class discussion, so you have to look over everything she tells you to.
Randi is BY FAR the best history professor here at SFA, she graded so fairly and actually cares about her students and their lives. Obviously there are things that she has to take into account when extending deadlines but as long as you keep a good communication with her she will always be willing to work with you. This Class is EASY, just attend.
When I read her reviews last semester I was so excited to take her but now I wish I would've taken anyone els. She's a very tough grader and takes forever to grade the assignments. Also she is never clear with the directions of assignments, and she doesn't respond to her emails.
I love Dr. Cox. She is so smart and she did an amazing job explaining the important aspects of Russian History. Because this class is foundational knowldege for most people, she does not ask for an extreme amount of analysis from you. Overall, this was an amazing class and her love and passion for Russian hisotry really shows.
Dr. Cox is a great professor. I took her 8 week US History 1301. It was challenging because everything came so fast, but she took that into account when teaching. I really understood her teaching style, and she really cared about her students. There was a lot of readings, but if it wasn't in 8 week form it wouldn't have been as difficult.
I loved her course! Though she makes you put in the work with weekly journals for online courses. The textbook we used was free that she provided online and she does a great job of posting things ahead of time so you understand what you have going on each week. Probably one of the most organized and understanding professors that have taught online.
Dr.Cox was lovely! This class really helped me improve on skills. She is understanding if you can't make it to class, but you should try to because she goes over important things that will help you with your projects and essays. There are a lot of projects and essays so beware.(but as a history major required course you should be well aware of that)
Overall she was a good professor, although i had the class online do to there being not enough people to sign up for the in person class so that was a bummer but make sure you do all the work and you should pass.
Great prof. The class was easy, but even if she'd thrown more challenge at us I can guarantee she would have ensured our success. She answers questions, is clear on homework, and has a sense of humor.
I'll be honest, I am not a fan of History, but Professor Cox made it easy. You will have to take notes every class, but she makes her lectures interesting and she teaches the subject amazing. Usually doesn't bore you. Make sure you go to class because you will miss things. Assigns quizzes every weekend, but they help you prepare for the tests.
Take notes while shes lecturing and youll be set for test. Uses a free online textbook and we only used it a few times, shes funny and really good about answering any of your questions in class. Youll have to write essays in substitution for some of the test, and midterms/ finals included both multiple choice questions and 2 mini essays, good class
I love Dr. Cox and her lectures, they're easy to follow and often very funny. Try to participate as much as possible. You HAVE to pay attention because her notes aren't directly from the slides, but this has helped me retain info a lot better. She gets peeved when students pack up early, so let her do her job and teach. Listen and it's a breeze!
