AWESOME!
This teacher drops the student morale by making unapropriate gestures about ones grammar and learning abitilies. Usually quizes on items that have not been covered.
If you are attending college, then you have to do some moderate studying. The class is not rocket science but just a bunch of facts. I like the passion he has toward the subject. He does make negative comments toward Latinos but we should prove ourselves otherwise. I got an A but I worked hard.
He's ok not that hard not that easy. He dosen't respond back when i email and ask for my grades. His score scale is really hard.

I took him in the summer. he teaches with lots of visuals and they are quite helpful. Plus he's kinda funny so he makes the lecture interesting.

He gives allot of power point presentations in lecture which are somewhat helpful but very boring. He assigned a MANDATORY field trip to Devil's punchbowl & San Andreas Fault, the drive was 1 hour plus, he had NUMEROUS stops, 2 students were hurt because the area by the fault had barb wire. I don't recommend his Earth Science class.
He was the teacher that actually showed me what it should be like to be in college. You must study. It ain't high school anymore so don't complain, or else drop the class. If you do good, there is no point in going to the field trips. Earth science is not a big deal. It's not Calculus. Just read the book. And get used to his degrading comments.
Haha you go ahead and get used to rude comments about Latinos, I for one and most normal people would not tolerate it. I'm very aware this is not highschool and I think my 4.0 gpa proves that, I'm simply commenting on the class, not telling others what to do like you.
Calling himself a professor....what a joke. He makes inappropriate comments and is just there taking up space and air. He doesn't explain a thing and when he does it still makes no sense. He needs to be fired

he is a very very hard grader and his field trips were stupid and very dangerous. i fell and hurt myself really bad. he lacks communication skills.
This is a boring class due based on the subject matter alone. He is a good teacher very structured but you know what you need to do to pass, He is fair. He tries to be humerous I give him a A for effort. You have to read the txt and study to pass after all its a college level class. Put in some effort and you will pass.

I took him a couple of years ago. He was horrible! Only 3 passed in a class of 40+. Rained on his field trip but made class endure the horrible weather conditions. Weekly quiz and test were not always would he would say to focus on. DONT TAKE HIM! Seek out Grimmer instead.
He knows rocks,I'll give him that!Learned about the physical geology we take for granted. Notice ground u walk,drive by mntns,enjoy beaches more-class will open your eyes more to earth around you.Make study buddies fast,use tutors,it will help ur grade.Work tgthr.Study for tests(ie. timed 2min per-rock identify) do ur reading b4 class!Ask him ?'s!

he is extremely nice and funny, daily quizes and a good amount of homework.
I really enjoyed his class. he is boring and has the dumbest jokes. but his class is super easy. you get a quiz each week on the notes and text. then at the end he gets all the quizes and pick 100 problems(the same answer and all), and puts it on the final. I do say he can be an ass but hes cool anyway..
Had a quiz every week, which means studying 24/7. HW every week as well. If your HW is not worded EXACTLY in his words, no points for you. And on your extra credit, there is a chance of you getting 0 points. But if you study the quizzes, you will do ok on the final, which will not give you that much of a boost though. People always fell asleep too.
personality wise, great! i love his corny jokes... he has great information, and is interesting if you're some sort of oceanography/geology major. yea he's difficult but a 4year isnt gonna be a walk in the park either. he needs to lay off the power point it gets boring after a while because you do the same thing add a video or something.
My fellow ELAC comrades if you are looking for an easy geology class please take Dr.Micheal Forrest at Rio Hondo College, its just 5 miles away from the ELAC main campus. Trust me ! u wont regret it, i took him in summer 2010 and it was so easy u just need his lecture notes and attendance is not required, he has a crazy curve to a 70%=A Trust me
this teacher is probably one of the worst teachers in all of elac. when he talks he seems to stutter and seems to very afraid of speaking in front of a large group. his teaching is completely based on powerpoint and a little from the book but basically it is the most boring class i have ever taken. he also tries to be funny which doesnt work
This teacher is awesome and funny and is so willing to help you get a good grade that no one should fail! His HW is easy and he gives you almost all the answers in class. His test are a peice of cake but still very informative and educational. I would recommend this teacher to anyone who wants to have a fun time while learning.
Mr. Adsit has a passion for geology that bleeds into lectures and especially field trips. Mr. Adsit has an interesting combination of both real life and teaching experience that allows him to be well versed in his field and provide comprehensive answers to a variety of students questions. Mr. Adsit's field trips provide the keys to success in class
Professor Adsit is extremely helpful to anyone who requests it. He takes students on many field trips on his own time, which is what science classes at ELAC lack,field studies. He is genuinly passionate about his work and it shows in the enthusiasm he displays during his lectures. I recommend Adsit to anyone to anyone who is interested in geology.
I really enjoyed this class. There were field trips and lots of fun during lectures. Some of the homework was even fun! This class is great for those willing to make just a tiny bit of effort. Prof. Adsit is a really attentive and helpful teacher and truly wants to see his students succeed. Take this class with Adsit, and please go on field trips!!
Never take geo6 with this instructer. He's very impatient and gets annoyed when you come to him with difficulty on the labs. Im like dude are you serious? YOURE A FREAKIN EDUCATOR DO YOUR JOB TEACH!!!
Very interesting class. And the professor is very clear with his lecture. The quizzes are VERY EASY! just take good notes and study them before class. You can get a good grade in this class,just make sure that you do well on the Homework. He grades hard.The final is easy.
Geology is such a useful class espcially with this teacher. The class may be a lot of work, but if you pay attention and do the work, its quite easy! I would definitely take this class again!
Prof. Adsit's class is not difficult at all! His quizzes are super easy! All you have to do is take good notes and study before class. Go on fieldtrips for extra credit! Read the book! - He puts humor in his lecture and on quizzes! I recommend this professor!
Worst professor I've ever had. The class average was an F by the end of the semester. That's even after he curved the grading scale. He skips through the chapters. Not everyone get's wet over rocks like he does. Online copys of the power points would have helped. Or some type of study guide of what to read. He had to cut 2 chapters from syllabus.
Attendance is mandatory. I took this class in the summer of 2012 at 7am. I was consistently tardy so I missed valuable information. There is a quiz every week which is fairly easy if you read the textbook/ take good notes. He has a monotone voice which will make you fall asleep so I suggest you drink something caffeinated.
Detest his cronic cough. texts in lectures, answers phone in class. can be monotone. he is clear on assignments. gizes over rocks. really geeky prof.
to get a good/dedent grade in this class u really have to try hard.. u have to take good notes n read your textbook..he skims threw the slides fast. quizzes r easy if u study..not very boring..

Avoid if possible. Homework almost every week, quiz every week & tough grader. Studying, book & attendance mandatory. The whole class was below c half way thru class and no one had an A before final. Extra credit allowed but graded tough too...
Spends the first 1/2 hour of class cramming his political views down your throat. Doesn't follow his own syllabus. Unknowledgeable on rocks in areas he does field trips on. The entire class was below average on grades. Most students wee bombing his quizzes. Makes a lot of mistakes on what his own slides are pictures of. Very lazy.
I have to say he is a an okay teacher. he does get boring at times but yet he knows how to grab your attention again. I rarely pay attention to his opinions though. Even though he is a tough grader on extra credit, his quizzes are really easy and they are short and clear. You need your book to study but hardly use it in class.

Great professor, very knowledgeable about his subject area. Weekly quizzes that aren't difficult as long as you try. Field trips are fun. As long as you readpay attention (or go to office hours) you'll pass.

Lectures are sooo long and boring!! He does absolutely nothing to make lectures a little more tolerable. I thought I was the only one having a tough time in his class but when I studied with other classmates they told me they had a hard time with him as well. The information and concept is not tough but I don't understand his grading.
Basically the only thing students should be aware of is that he makes you do Environmental Service. (Basically community service like beach cleanups e.t.c) Lectures are boring but its what you'll be tested on, not the book. All in all easy A to be honest, but you wont pass if you don't do the service, i believe he required 16 hours. Good Luck!
Prof. Adsit is fair, honest & direct. Ignore the horror stories if you hear any, pay attention and study. He doesn't coddle or baby his students, which is totally fine. This is college, not elementary school. There's opportunities for extra credit, but don't be lazy and think it'll save you or your grade. Work and you'll get what you deserve. Duh!
Took his class for the summer, I had to drop it cause he's mean, and boring and he wasn't specific about the scantron, he threw my quiz away because it was the wrong scantron, got really pissed so I just left. He skips chapters and doesn't tell you about it so when you take the quiz it's all on a whole different chapter, he's very confusing .
He's a pretty tough grader especially with his homework. He wants you to be very specific and if you don't write down what he had in mind, he won't give you credit. The homework was my least favorite part . About 15 quizzes in the course which are about 90% based on lecture. I would use the book as a supplement. Overall an Ok class professor.

Professor Adsit really makes you work for your grade. Quiz every week, make sure to read all the chapter to prepare for quizzes. Tough grader when it comes up to homework. Also, take advantage of the extra credit he offers.
Just took Geo in the fall and it was incredibly tough. I wanted to ignore these comments and see for myself...I regret not heeding these warnings. He's very condescending-which makes it hard to ask questions and his grading on the homework is harsh-sometimes rude/unnecessary. I learned a lot from the class, but not enough to pass. Good luck.
He was late to office hours all the time. He calls students stupid if they are late! He is very rude, and when you ask him for help he choose to make fun of you and not help at all.
This is the worst professor at ELAC, he didn't accept my scantron on the first quiz b/c he wasn't clear on what he wanted and apparently was the wrong one. He gave us lectures on "how to be a better student" which took up half the class. Hes tough on grading homework, quizzes every week, and lectures are terrible.
Make you feel hopeless in the World. Don't get yourself feel hopeless. If you have a perfect GPA, take him and study hard, you will then see your dropped GPA. The average score in this course is "C" . if u take this class.. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tough grader on HW!!!!!!!!!!
Most students in my class got D or C. Very TOUGH professor, better take another professor if u can. Average grade is D. LOT of lecture but no useful, he is not helping at all, even in office hour.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. All the classes before me and after were at a D average or F. He doesn't offer any support even for disabled students. Speeds through lectures and gets angry if you ask him to slow down and tells u to learn how to take notes. He made my last semester at ELAC hell. Worst professor I have taken during my time here. He is one of the best professors. I learned a lot from him. His quizzes are based on what he teaches, so come to class! He gives quizzes every other day, with one FINAL. His final test you on how much you learned and understood, rather then how much you studied, but you should study if you want to pass with a good A. He also makes silly comments.
He did not grade everyone fair. I went on the field trip for extra credit, he said it would be worth 25 extra credit points he only made it 10 and out of that 10 he based it on our essay, which he clearly said he didn't care how it was written as long as we got to the point of what I learned. Only got 3 points for the everyhing, I wasn't the only 1

Adsit you are failing your students! I have always had a level of respect for my Professors, and acknowledge students responsibility over their success. However Adsit is belittling to his students ;His quizzes are extremely difficult even if you study. He failed 80% of his class; highest grade was a C in his class. Dean please do something.
This professor needs to be REPORTED. He supposedly gives extra credit for going on field trips. So on this one field trip he got 2 flat tires and made 5 people that went with him in his car split the cost of the tires. Some ppl went to "office hours" and overheard the teacher talk about money exchanges and they visually saw the tire receipt.

Don't expect to write everything down on his slides because he goes through very swiftly. Those are key point on quizzes. Also the quizzes are very hard, even if you study will only getting a D. The grading is tough on homework! Don't take him!

He's a very tough grader! Quizes have trick questions. no midterms just one final! goes through slides very quickly and talks during presentations so you have to also take notes of what hes saying at the same time. can be awkward sometimes with cheesy jokes. class is almost always empty. there were about 20 at first then ended up being about 10.
He's a very tough grader. The homework he assigns is pretty hard, his weekly quizzes are hard even if you read the material, he goes through the lecture very fast and will not slow down, and pretty sure he failed most of his remaining students.
This guy was over 20+ mins. late to his own class bc "he forgot" and when the majority of the class left, he still didn't give us a break. We showed up to the next class meeting and he didn't review anything bc we "shouldn't have assumed and left". You'll have quizzes, no midterm, & 1 comprehensive final based on all the quiz questions. Im taking him in oceanography litterly right now ,hes nice and all but his grading criteria sucks litterly will fail 95-98% of all ypur homeworks even if the answer is correct or partially true ,whines later that were not doing enough and complains about office hours . No midterms ever but he gives daily quizzes 15 questions each.
How to Pass. Not only do the reading, take notes on it BEFORE class. During lecture, HIGHLIGHT or star points he goes over in slides and add anything additional. These are your quiz questions. Don't memorize, understand underlying concept. Homework, EMAIL him or office hours HE WILL EXPLAIN THE ANSWER TO YOU. Lastly, save quizzes for final.
So I am halfway through with this class and I want to share some knowledge. He can be better. He does not give too much homework because he does give a week to do them (though they are in packets). BUT his quizzes are ANNOYING. They are once a week and does not mention the content that is on the quiz. Yeah, this class is on the IGETC and CSU but NO
He literally doesn't teach you. He goes by PowerPoints like there's no tomorrow. He repeats basic things from the chapter but gives out homework that should be given to university professors. The book literally won't help you with his homework no matter how much you re-read it. If you ask him a question he looks at you like your stupid. Run away!!!
This class is hilariously bad. Really, it's that bad you want to laugh. Every time you walk out of class you will say to yourself, "what was that?" You won't learn anything from this class. I cant believe I signed up for this.
Took him over the summer for 5 weeks. He gives you a fair amount of work and a quiz everyday based on lecture from day before and reading. Just pay attention and ask questions, visit office hours for help! Really not that bad!!

He was funny, but an extremely tough grader. Your hmwk has to be perfection. His daily quizzes are easy because they are literally mirror his lectures. The final was basically all the quizzes combined. He drops lowest hmwk, quiz, offers 2 10 extra credit opportunities (essay reflection 1-2 ), and rounds your grade if you are like an 69,79,89, etc.
I just show my simple basic respect to all the professors I had taken. But I will probably not going to recommend this professor to my friends in the future. I remember I had a nice English Professor from the English Department. I also remember that the first time I feel extra credit won't do too much to improve my grade. That's his course.
Honestly, any professor that starts out the semester with "I'm not a tough grader" has probably been reading his reviews here; why not just copy and paste the reviews from here into the syllabus on day 1? The homework assignments have got to be flawless, as if we have already mastered and majored in Earth Science. Better off with another prof.
His lectures are very boring and non engaging. The class isnt hard but I feel like he gives simple homework because he doesnt have any faith in his students. Sadly considering this is my major, professor adsit completely sucked the fun out of this entire subject for me. Would not recommend but I dont think theres many other options at ELAC.
This guy should have ever been allowed to teach. He doesnt do anything other than use PowerPoints and has no actual knowledge on the subject. Literally this guys sucks. Doesnt help the student learn and belittles students that dont know off topic trivial knowledge. Avoid this guy like the plague. Actually Id rather have the plague.
He is lecture heavy. PPT heavy. Textbook heavy. Homework assignments heavy and not easy.
This guy is an absolute abomination of a teacher,. Not only are all of his quizzes different from the reading material, The way he grades is very subjective and leaves no room for partial credit. Im glad i have to option to drop the class and still be ok with my major. I wouldn't pull this guy out of a fire, much less take a class from him again.

One of the worst professors very condescending and mean. This professor was rude and would always say “it's easy”. Was not much help when you would go in for office hours and the extra credit he offered required a trip to Joshua tree park which was far or doing extra work which required you to pay out of your pocket for extra credit.
