easy A as long as u go online to review questions. same qustions on quizes and tests.
He wants to be an English teacher, but you're a moron if you don't get an A in this class. P.S. Don't neglect the listening on the mid-term. And laugh at his jokes to make him feel good.
I'd rather listen to someboby scratch a chakboard than sit through another of his lectures not an easy A. BORING CLASS
The easiest class in the world if you go to class and take the quizzes online. The answers to the tests are online. Boring lectures!
Great teacher and I enjoyed the class.
easy class but very boring. Just show up and you will get an a
he is very nice and his class is interesting. he is always willing to help his students.
he is a good teacher~but sometimes is so bored in his class, you will sleep in his class~ however, he gave many extra credit and take home quiz, just do well in that, then you will be fine
Class is so easy. He offers lots of extra credit and gives 3 take home quizzes with some online help. The class is all lecture though and it is so boring and mywhole class fell asleep. He will help you out though. Just show up and take notes. Easy A.
He's awesome! If you love Jazz, he loves you! Tests are pretty simple, just understand the material and the book, other wise you'll fail. I think he looks like Kermit the frog, when he's taking role... but that's me!
Good teacher. Make sure you go to class...if u miss 4 classes he'll drop you. Tests are pretty easy and so is material.
the midterms are easy, i got A in my concert report, and he also gives extra credit works to gain extra credit
Very possible to get an A. Takes attendance almost every day. Very boring class but he tries to make it as fun as he can. Write down all the jeopardy questions before the exam, cause you will see them on there.
THIS TEACHER WAS A VERY EASY ONE HE ALSO WAS VERY CLEAR ABOUT WHAT TO DO AND MADE THE CLASS VERY EASY I PASSED WITH A B.
Easy. Very nice guy, excellent jazz pianist, not the most captivating lecturer ever. He really enjoys getting to know his students. Assignments are short & graded easy. Extra credit if you need it. Comment in class (he'll call on you), know your listening examples, & the jeopardy review is basically the test, so write everything down. Good class.
Ecellent teacher. Her is very enthusiastic about waht he teaches. If you have any musical background, this will be a brezze. If you don't it is still easy! He is very nice and if he sees you trying he bumps up your grade if you are on the virge of failing. Great guy.
Mostly interesting with somw boring moments. Group projects, multiple chice exams (not ease)and live concert essays. i like his teaching style. I learned alot Get him to play the piano - really good! Good class.
if you are not a music major I wouldn't take him. He is a good teahcer but it is a lot of work studied at least four hours before both the final and midterm. You have to go to two concerts and watch two movies. I'm not into music but I did learn a few things. If you take it with him take it with a friend to help study. I got an "A" but worked hard
This teacher is awesome! His class is easy and fun. He plays jeoperdy befor each exam and gives you most of the answers. I studied about an hour a week and got an A. I have taken over 60 units and this is the easiest classes I ever had. The only people who don't like him are the loafers who think they are still in highschool. I loved this teacher
How sweet can a teacher be! I love this guy, his classes are interesting, fun, and easy!!! I am a science major...music is not really my thing....but after this class I know enough about music to awe the average coillage student!!!! Thanks professor, you are sweet, kind, sexy, and intelligent...I LOVE YOU
Professor B is a great teacher. For the most part he skips over the dry stuff and sticks with what he thinks you might find interesting. Great pianist. Fun class. An A is definitely achievable.
Boring. Has an interesting life though. But boring class
Not a bad teacher. Pretty easy. Don't sleep in class, his pet peeve. Assignments due are pretty much graded credit or no credit. There's no partial points, you either do it and get full credit or you don't. Tests are easy, he gives you a study guide and plays jeopardy. Lectures are sometimes boring but bare-able. Decent teacher to take.
he makes a rather dull topic such as classical music and tries to provoke interest and make what he knows is boring for our age a lot more tolerable to learn about. i enjoyed him, he has his moments where he's really amusing, it would have been more fun if the classmates were more awake and open-minded.
Tests are fair and assignments are easy. Be sure to make a friend in class because nearly all tests are taken from lecture. Go to class and you should get at least a B, probably an A.
The class was a lot easier for me than I expected because of the little musical background that I had. He made the dullest and mundane topics fun and interesting, teaches in many different ways, and bc of his class, I now pick out different instruments in all the music I hear, and appreciate songs more! Take him if you get a chance.
He does a good job making the material interesting. He plays the piano as a demo for what he's trying to teach. If you can't have a tiny interest in what he (great pianist!) plays, you're in the wrong place. Easy tests. Studying helps (gives study guide). Written stuff is easy. Laid back guy and great class. No regrets here! Thanks Professor B! :o)
Prof. Beecher expects too much. If want to take this class just to get a section of your GE of the way, then you are terribly mistaking. You expects you to know the material as if you were a music major.

beechers great! My friends took this course with other profs and all of them wished they had beecher.
slackers no doubt class is an easy B and a sure A if u do the work he gives u the tests orally the day before you take it duh u must go to two concerts and turn in rpts good class
well.. mr beecher, likes to treat you like your in high school signing in a little sheet if your 5 minutes late.. cool class.. nice guy.. but expects too much..
EASY TEACHER.. YOU HAVE TO DO A LITTLE WORK, YOU HAVE TO GO TO 2 CONCERTS AND DO EASY REPORTS, AND ONE GROUP PRESENTATION, OTHER THAN THAT THE TEST ARE PRETTY EASY! HES REALLY HAPPY ALL THE TIME, NICE GUY! KINDA BORING, TAKE IT WITH A FRIEND!
Class can get boring at times but I learned alot and its pretty easy. Tests are not really hard but it takes quite a bit of studying.
I like him. when i ask a question, he always welcome to the answer. he is thoughtful to me! We all attracted to his piano.
Beechers great but he hates tardy people and will drop you if your always late. There is definately boring times but he is always trying to pick it up and he finds ways to make it interesting. I am know about some of the other teachers and he is the preferred one.
Super easy and fun class! Randy is a really nice guy. The class can get a little boring but that doesn't matter, cuz in the end you'll be super happy you took him! It was an easy 'A' for me.
Mr. Beecher expects far too much from students. Disregard the positive and easy comments; I had to put in a tremendous amount work to get an A in the class. My major complaint with Mr. Beecher is that he can be very condescending. If you?re only looking to complete a GE course you might want to consider something else.
For a class where I just want a passing grade to get a section of the GE done, this class is hard. It requires alot of time (attending concerts, etc) and grades as if you were a music major.
This was such an easy fun class and Mr Beecher is a kick. He actually gives the answers orally to the tests the day before you take them along with study guides!
Great class, but I wouldn't take it if you don't like all kinds of music. He's very fair and easy going. I recommend him.
Worse teacher i have ever had i actually hated going to this class every day because beecher is a terrible teacher and not a good person. If you love music and want a good grade forget this class because he is a joke. If you want to beleive these reveiws and not mine go for it all I'm saying is you will regret this class.
omg this was such an easy class and beecher was great. sounds like someone needs a hug.
This class was a lot harder then anyone would have ever thought. Beecher must be writing half these cause i cant beleive this. Pretty hard class cant be late ever and boring i passed but it took to much for a GE music class.
a good funny teacher
Not sure what others are thinking. This was a great class. He is enjoyable. I looked forwrd to his class. He is totally cool. It certainly isn't a skate by class, you gotta work, but he is definitely entertaining. I would take him a million times over. Older, but definitely a cutie. funny but not sure that is intentional.
I think this professor has good personality, but class is hard as a GE class. For international students, this class was not good. It was hard to listening. Also, if you think you don't have sense of music, don't take this class. Bit professor's personality was cool.
Prof Beecher is always enthusiastic about his class. He has high expectations that are clearly defined in the first mtg and syllabus. Most tests can be passed without the book if you attend every lecture, but is still necessary for an A. He never gives you BS, but is always willing to help. He is a great pianist as well!
He is horrible!! This class requires alot of reading and memorizing! Too much work for a music class. Also he has favorites. Of course i wasnt one of them cause i was usually late. If you like to work really hard and be ALWAYS in class then take this class and MAYBE you'll get something better than a "C".
definatety way too much work for a GE class. He is funny though. He does have his favorites and I dont get his grading system. If you need to take this class take him but be prepared to do a little extra work.
This class was much more work than I expected. As a summer class, it's very fast paced and he expects you to read and listen to a lot of information. He's interesting and a great piano player, but be prepared for alot of work if you want to do well on tests.
I really liked this teacher. It was a fun class - pretty easy A
compared to my SDSU professors, this guy was awesome, funny, and easy-going. The workload required one easy group project, 5 exams (some open-book, and two live concert reports. Beecher was recommended to me - no regrets, and I learned a lot.
This is a good class. The first and final exams were open book and easy, but the other three tests were hard. There are forums in almost every class based on listening to music and he looks for you to talk. You have to go to a jazz and a classical concert and turn in reports. He is very nice and fair.
Professor Beecher is a great guy who really cares about his students. It is hard to find someone talented with a personality who teaches these days. I would definitely recommend him for an interesting fairly easy course to free the stress from the other courses!
EASIEST class ive ever taken, 3 exams, 1 presentation, 2 concerts. sounds like a lot but I promise its not. his lectures can be quite boring but you basically just listen to music and analze it. but make sure you do try and pay attention cause he makes you feel kind of dumb if you dont get it. also volunteer alot in class! he goes a easier on you
Beecher is one of the coolest teachers I've ever had. Totally nice guy and the class isn't hard at all. Highly recommended.
One of the greatest professor I ever had. Class is is easy if u keep up with the work. U should be able to pass his claass if do all the work and extra credit. Definitely recommend taken his class.
A great and fun professor. The class is very chill...perfect class that you will learn in and relax and enjoy. I encourage you to definitely attend because the notes during lecture are the most important thing for you to get a high grade...
Such a great teacher! He really likes what he teaches, and he makes it fun to learn! He lectures almost every day, but he goes back and forth between talking and giving an example with a youtube video. Great class, easy (especially if you know anything about music)...His tests are straight forward, and there is little to no homework!
Very friendly, funny, and helpful. This class is kind of hard for a music class but if you do a little extra work, you will be good. I recommend him!
Randy is one of the kindest instructors you will ever find. He knows his stuff really well, he is very friendly and understanding and his lectures are always a pleasure. He makes meaningful connections (from lecture to video or audio material) helping the student grasp the concepts easily. One would have to be completely disinterested to fail.
He is great, the best professor I have ever met at Grossmont.Very bright and lively, and is very nice to students. He always give students a sheet of paper with everything that you should study for the test, and if you pay attention on class, the tests are pretty easy. Absolutely an EASY A class even for students with non-music related majors.
Randy Rocks. Period. He's got a masters degree in Musicology and he's really sharp. Great ear. Tests are very easy provided you have SOME interest in music. Prepare to have your musical horizons expanded. Oh, and he's seriously hot.
Very nice teacher. Tests are easy. you have to go to two concerts but that's really no big deal. Can miss up to 4 classes before dropped. he offers extra credit too. Very easy highly reccomend
Excellent class. Great teacher. Not hard if you are there and you pay attention. If all else fails, at least pay attention to the review before the test. He lets you know what to expect. He does not expect or lecture on a music major level. You should read the book and be ready to apply yourself when it comes time to analyze the music.
Awesome professor! I earned an A in the class and didn't need to buy the book. Before each test he reviews and goes over all the questions and answers. Take notes! 1-2 extra credit assignments, 1 group project, 2 concert reports, and 3 exams. Super easy class, he does not ask for a lot; little to no homework at all. Easy A and you will learn a lot!
Easy A class! Do not take this class for granted. Come to class, take notes, study and you will pass. The exams are easy. Might be a little boring if you have no interest in jazz or classical. You have to attend two concerts. Two extra credit assignments given.
Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities if you desperately need it! Read all assigned chapters, test are based off of the material in the chapters! Go back and listen to the listening portions for the test!!!
Great professor. He gives extra credit opportunities and reviews the exam with you before the exam. He made the class enjoyable. I strongly recommend!!
Beecher is a great teacher, he likes to joke along as he lectures. Really good guy and gives some extra credit to help boost your grade if you need a few extra points. I would recommend to take him if you need this class.
My fav class. Beecher's great. You watch a lot of You Tube vids, just three tests with Jeoparady reviews the class before. He basically gives you the test before you take it. He posts tests scores after and most people get As and Bs. Attndc is important and he drops you after four absences. Pretty easy class.
Excellent teacher. His tests aren't too hard if you take good notes on the lectures. The good thing is he always uploads all the lectures and music examples online so it's easy to study. As long as you don't let the concert reports sneak up on you you'll do fine.
Mr. Beecher is an excellent teacher & lecturer. He made what could have been a dull and boring class into an interesting learning experience. I Enjoyed his class very much. Interested in getting a top grade--review the study guide, read your chapters, attend & participate in class discussions. Attendance @ a classical & jazz concert is required.
beecher is good teacher, but his class is definitely one you cant just show up thinking you're going to get an A . Tests are easy, but studying in needed. he requires you to go to two concerts and do a small work sheet on them, don't procrastinate until the last minute. and one group project, which is pretty easy. Overall his lectures are exciting
Only one group project. Try to not miss class because he says things that aren't on the powerpoints & are helpful for tests. Tests are easy if you study and have good notes. BE AWAKE, take the class during a time you aren't so tired, we listened to a lot of music, especially classical. Important to pay attention to listening parts.
The class is a gimmick. Show up, listen to badass music through the ages while listening to someone whose passionate about it speak on the subject. He tells you all the things you need to remember for the 3 tests, the final is not cumulative, and he gives you the test answers the day prior to the test. Its an easy A, and he's a great Professor.
Beecher is amazing! From the minute you start this class you will recognize how passionate he is of music and it will really rub off on you! Also he's a great storyteller which is awesome because he executes his lectures in a really captivating way! Definitely take this class :)
Although he noticed you about textbook, but as long as you paid attention to his class, you don't need it!! All he mentions in class already in the tests!! He is very passionate and professional. His music song choice is very great and enjoying. He loves to see you volunteer, pay attention and interact with him in class, but not require. Easy A!!!!
Mr. Beecher is a great professor and a very accomplished pianist. There is no homework, and all you have to do is attend two concerts, make one group project, and simply listen to music. He tells you to read the book but you can get an easy A just by listening to his lecture. He also offers a lot of extra credit. I definitely recommend him.
He is such a wonderful guy!!! His class is super interesting and I was never into jazz or classical but honestly... this class made me love all types of music. The extra credit assignment was so easy all you had to do is watch a movie and right about it (one page) seriously a easy class and very interesting. Take him !!!
I agree what others have said below. Mr. Beech is a great guy who is passionate about music history. I really enjoyed his class!
3 exams, 2 live concert reports and a paper. If you are not interested in music I would not take this class because its not enjoyable. Easy A but you have to put work into studying prior to exams.
I love this class with professor Beecher. I knew nothing about music before this class, and I am so glad that I learned more. He made me appreciate music and listen critically. It was a great class, even if music is not your passion, but you will love a good portion of what you are going to listen to. The study guide for the exams is very helpful!
AWESOME! Fun, informative, entertaining class. I learned soooo much about music and music history. I now have a more discerning ear when it comes to music. Plenty of extra credit. "Teach Beech" pleasant and fair professor. I took his 8-915am class. TAKE HIS CLASS!
One of the greatest people you can ever meet! A very humble, loving person. He walked in every day with such a big smile on his face. I personally felt like he made every day I saw him at! Easy class, well explained notes, and most importantly, easy tests! Just take notes and youll pass with an A. Never miss the chance of taking his class.
Beecher was such a good professor, he loved the subjects he discussed and loved teaching the students. He always wanted his students to excel and receive a good grade but he wasn't going to just give it to you. Loved taking his class and 10/10 would take another class with him.
Randy Beecher is such a chill and cool guy. The reason I put him as inspirational was because his class really encouraged my love for music. You really should come to class because you'll miss a lot that's on the tests that he talks about in lecture. Seriously take his class if you need MUS110.
Mr. Beecher was an awesome professor. Easily one of the best I've had at GC. He really knows what he's talking about and is actually a really good musician too. Lectures are straight forward and interesting. Only had like 3 exams and 1 group project. Not a hard class if you show up and pay attention. Notes can be a substitute for the textbook.
Coolest prof ever. You'll actually learn a lot w/o trying because class is fun and he has high energy. I left with a high appreciation of rock music. Gives in-class review sessions b4 tests which basically tell you exactly what will be on the exams. Don't take advantage of him being chill, if you start leaving class early he will be disappointed.
Overall this class is pretty chill. In total 4 exams. 1 group project. In this class, you are required to attend 2 concerts classical and jazz. This professor is very chill and is very passionate and organized with his lectures. 2 extra credit opportunities. A good GE class to take. He's a little strict with missing classes. Textbook not required.
He is awesome! He tries to make the boring lectures fun so pay attention because everything he talks about is on the tests. Not a music major and passed this class easy. Easy class but PAY ATTENTION or you will miss important things for tests. His lecture notes for certain topics are not always on canvas!
Prof. Beecher is very passionate about music; he's a great pianist. Very easy class. Everything on the test is covered in lecture and also jeopardy review before exam. No homework. 2 musical reports and 1 group analysis paper. Critical listening skill takes some time to understand. I had a better understanding for classical and jazz music (:
Randy is a chill music teacher. His online HW is easy. He gives you a link to a music vid and gives 2 assignments. In which they 5 questions and each of them needs 5 paragraphs. And 2 short ones. And gives you 2 extras credit assignment by watching 2 movies. His test are pretty easy just google every answer you need.
Professor Beecher is an amazing teacher! I LOVED his class, and it's another reason why I might major/minor in music. Super easy class and he's very chill! Instructions and grading criteria for assignments were straightforward, and he was very informative during his lectures. He also is a great pianist, and his lectures were very entertaining!!!
Very few assignments throughout the semester. Passionate about music, take him for an easy A!
Mr Beecher is an amazing professor! While attendance is mandatory, it is overall a very easy and enjoyable class. I highly reccomend. :)
This is a manageable class. Very clear on what he wants from you and don't be afraid to ask questions. DO the study guide. Hybrid class. While the textbook isn't required I do recommend just having it, cause it can help during tests. Open notes/textbook tests. Two extra credit assignments, 4 total assignments, 3 exams.
Great Professor ! I took a history of rock which was very fun, the exposure of different types of music got me to venture out. 3 exams and 3 assignments, make sure you use the study guides and actually listen to the songs for the listening portion. Good vibes and listening to music all through the semester.
Great professor. Textbooks are optional, but I recommend renting one. The lectures were easy to understand and provided extra credit opportunities.
Enjoyable and interesting lectures, be sure to take notes and familiarize yourself with the content. Only a few assignments over the course of the semester and they're quite simple to do. Exams are open-note, he bases everything off a textbook but it's completely optional to buy and I passed just fine without it! I recommend him.
Prof. Beecher was always willing to work with me on due dates, and even took the time to check in on me after I missed as assignment. He's really a great lecturer, and I was interested through the entire class. Even if you don't like the genre of music being talked about, there's always a way he made it interesting.
Very long lectures everyday that was not too appealing. Doesn't really encourage big discussions throughout the classes. Very few assignments throughout the semester, good grader just wish he provided feedback. Very nice guy his lectures just tend to be long and get quite boring halfway through the semester.
Professor Beecher makes this easy music class engaging. With clear instructions, straightforward grading, and helpful lectures, it's a breeze - especially with Unstuckstudy for study prep.
Overall chill + understanding. Textbook is available but not required, everything you'll need to know will be in the lecture (which he records and puts canvas). Only 3 assignments & 3 exams, but he'll take late work if you communicate. The worst part of class was the exams, they have a lot of little facts, but they're definitely passable.
If you plan on taking music 115, take it with this guy, he's extremely passionate about music, his piano playing was very cool. I would also take it in person with him if possible because the work is light, he grades exams and 2 papers.
Very amazing teacher and easy class. Very few assignments. I missed an exam because of a family emergency and talked to him about it and he let me make it up.
Great class, nice teacher I recommend taking history of rock & roll for a GE class. Graded by 3-4 papers. I didn't buy text and still passed with A. Most lessons are on a recorded zoom, usually 2 lecture recordings a week about an hour long for each, take notes the info for the class are from those lectures. There are 3 test one is the final.
