One of the most intelligent men I've ever met or heard speak, yet he is also one of the most friendly and helpful. He cares for his students and will take all the time they need to clarify something. Add his hilarity in, and he's the best teacher ever!!

I have never had him for a class, but I know that he is a very wonderful teacher. He is also one of the funniest guys you will ever meet!! Watch out for the right hand though!!

BEST ENGLISH TEACHER IN THE WORLD! Tough tests but makes every bit of it fun. Tells stories that are HILLARIOUS, but also relate to the topic at hand. (sometimes HAHA!) GREAT!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Dr. Cross is by far the best English teacher I have ever had. He is fairly easy as long as you read the material assigned and use his advice when writing your papers. His class is like watching a good stand-up comedian everyday, while still being on topic and informative (he actually does stand-up on the side. Buy his DVD it is pretty good).

Dr. Cross is awesome! I would absolutely recommend him. American Lit at 8 AM should have been the worst class ever but I couldn't have enjoyed it more. I would especially suggest taking his ENG252 class. It's worth it just to hear him read "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", his voices are so funny! Calhoun is lucky to have him. Take his class!

I've taken everything he teaches. His class is more about understanding than semantics. He make very clear what you will be tested on, but teaches far more than that. It's like being in Kindergarten - you just go every day, listen and what he says becomes part of you are. Learning doesn't feel forced.

I love this teacher and this was my second course under this him. He only has 3 to 5 grades during the semester, and I know this sounds bad. But he tells you exactly what to study. In fact I am taking him again this semester. If you take him you will love it.

Open your mind and listen; that is how simple this class will be. Dr. Cross is a skilled storyteller. He will always tell you a personal anecdote that relates to the material being covered. All you have to do is listen and you will learn. This will be the class you look forward to all day.

I took Dr Cross in 92-93. He was awesome. Don't write "warm spit" and know the stuff you should have learned in high school and you're golden. If he recites Gunga Din, you're in for a treat.

I took Dr Cross's classes in 1996. 3 bachelor degrees later...and many years since cutting in his class...I will tell you I have never encountered a better instructor with more passion for his subject and students. He is going to force you to open your mind and he does it so eloquently. I told him he was a cross of Plato and Willie Wonka. :)

He had 3 tests and they were literally just like 10 quotes, and he would tell you what the poems were. Not stressful at all! I LOVE Dr. Cross! He's hilarious and truly cares about each of his students. He gave 2 tests and a final exam for the entire semester. You have reading assignments out of class, but there's never a pop quiz. Take advantage of going to any events he offers extra credit for and bring him funny socks and you'll do just fine.

Cross is a hard grader but he explains why you got it wrong and doesn't keep marking the same mistake on the same paper over and over again to take points off, he grades it in a fair manner.

Dr. Cross is not a typical English professor. He grades harsh, but he gives good feedback and shows you how to correct that mistake next time.

After he grades your papers, everyone has a chance to explain what they did wrong so others can learn from it as well. Hes an amazing professor!

I loved Dr. Cross so much that I took a second English class from him. He graded very sternly, but allowed you to bring rough drafts for "pre-grading" before the final paper was to be delivered. He was opinionated for sure, but was always open to other points of view, regardless of whether he agreed with them or not.

Then write what he call big boy and girl paragraphs. He doesnt grade the first two, so you can learn how to fix mistakes. He goes over every paper with you. I highly recommend this teacher.

Super easy going. Does not give a lot of material through out the semester at all. I had about 4 test in both English 101 and 251. He gives not material other than the test. His lectures are long but entertaining. He talks about himself a lot but honestly there isn't a easier professor at Calhoun.

Gave 2 exams where we had to name the story and author the quote came from and on the final had us write a few sentences about 5 things we learned. He doesn't use Blackboard.
