Helpful and Fair
Helpful and fair
understandable and for math that is a great thing!
A LOT of work for 1 semester!!!! Very Very difficult tests......................
Very helpful and more than willing to take time to answer ANY questions. :)
Great teacher..expects you to keep on top of things, but very willing to help
Great teacher, you leave the class really knowing the material. Just don't be affraid to work hard!
Worst teacher in the school! Extremely hard, hrades unfairly, never willing to help students. Plays favorites with students, which is unprofessional.
Worst teacher that I have ever had, very unclear moves to fast and expects student to keep up. Not helpfull at all do not take this teacher.
I liked this teacher. Makes you think. Homework is challenging, but he's willing to answer any questions in class. You come away knowing calculus very well.
Homework is a challenge, But Not tons to be turned in almost like gettting a free A on a test if all completed correct. Tests are pretty easy compared to the practice tests. Teachs pretty fast for a 9 am class, but willing to slow down.
Probably the worst math teacher i have ever had. THis is the first time i have gotten below an A in math....don't take his class. Also appearance very sloppy, plays favorites.
Worst teacher I have ever had, not only at this school but including every school I've ever been at. Very confusing and unhelpful. Unfair pop quizzes. Plays favorites, and is rude to all other students.
Randy is extremely helpful and very understanding. Moves fast... but is willing to answer questions and go back for you.
Very helpful and more than willing to answer any questions. He really cares about students succeeding if they put the time and effort into his class. I recommend this teacher. :)
Randy is the by far the best math teacher I have had at a college level. He has a very clear way of explaining things, and is very detailed in his lectures. I understood the material and learned a lot from his class yet was never overwhelmed.
He expects everyone to understand the stuff after he goes over it quickly. Does'nt explain the subject very well. Take a different teacher!
Not very good! Hard to follow and doesn't explain very well! If you have other options go for them!
He is a terrible teacher, he thinks that a C is outstanding, when a C- is no credit. I am struggling so bad with his class, do not take him, I'm warning you.
Randy is an awesome teacher! Very willing to help those students who take the time to do their homework and ask questions. He makes learning Calculus easy! Definitely cares about his students. :)
Good teacher, but moves fast. Willing to answer all questions.
good teacher, knows his material and tries to explain as best as he can. hard class. a lot of material, but i think it is 2 classes now so it should be easier!
Very serious and professional. I was riding a B+ into the final and I turned out with an A in class because I did well on the final. He helps you out in the end so keep trying hard and try to kick his final's A$$
He's confusing in the beginning but hang on it gets better. He is fair. Try to keep up 6 hours of math with anyone can be tedious.
his class can be difficult, but he's a good teacher, the only part of his class/tests are the homework notebooks that get turned in. i don't personally think you should be graded by either or not you do your homework.
I think he is out to prove a point to the math dept. Course has too much information and he has no understanding for anyone that doesn't 'get it' right away. Probably teaching college level because he couldn't 'teach'kids.
Randy is an excellent teacher. His class can be hard at times, but he is willing to help his students. This is not an "easy A", but it is a good math class that will teach you a lot. I would take Randy's classes in the future.
This guy sucked... he didnt care if you had questions, he couldnt explain anything so you could understand it he expected you to know it, tests were ungodly difficult, I would never take him again to save my life..
I've always prided myself on my math skills. But with Randy Icould not get it. With any and all math I have done, there is always a reason 'why' you calculate an answer. Randy could not help the class to understand 'why'. I do not recommend him to anyone.
He seems to lose his paitnece when a student doesn't understand the material right away. He did had some nice qualities but not very many. I wouldn't recommend him.
Horrible teacher do not take this teacher. If you try to ask a question he becomes upset and dosen't explane things very good at all. Somebody should contact the math department chair about this guy.
I didn't really enjoy this class-mostly because I'm just not good at math. Randy moves at a fast pace in class, but if you need help I'm sure he's there to help you. He is a tricky guy when it comes to tests.
Randy is very helpful and patient- don't listen to those whiners below! He grades fairly and gives easy points in the form of homework notebooks and an occasional assignment. Tests are not too lengthy and the material is not presented as a surprise to anyone..reviews prior. Flexible/understanding!
Hard grader, but explains theories well.
He is an excellent teacher who always stresses the point that he is there to teach us and will help you whenever you need it. He even gave us his home phone number! You do need to attend every class though or you'll have a hard time keeping up.
This instructor is very hard to understand. He says he will help but in reality becomes frustrated that you don't understand. His tests are extremely hard, way more difficult than the homework. Do Not Take this instructor......
Randy was the worst teacher ever. He loses his patience very easily. He also is a HARD grader. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He was an EXCELLENT teacher. I had never dealt with any math of this sort before and he explained everything so clear. If you have any ?'s he's there to answer. Never once did he lose temper in my class and he always explained "why" you do what you do on a math problem. I would recommend him!!!!!
I would not tell anyone to take this class that has a problem in math. He is sometimes unclear and moves along rather fast. I would suggest that if you have no choice but to take him, go see Dave in the tutoring center. He'll help you process the information better.
He explained everything excellent. This was my first college class in years and I felt comfortable and confident that I understood how to process the math problems. Because of this, MTH097 is very easy for me.
Hes a great proff, the class is ridiculously easy , and grades VERY EASY.. i woudl recomend u take him , very nice and courteous.
Great teacher... I did not do well in other math classes, but was able to get A's and B's in his. Explains material well, and very willing to answer questions or give extra help.
This guy is awesome, are you people nuts? He gives out his home phone number and is more than willing to help ANYONE with ANYTHING they don't understand. If you sit there and don't pay attention and don't ask questions, you get what you put in. He is very easy to follow and understand and I've never seen him anything but friendly toward his class.
I've always been horrible at math, but I feel like in Mr. Nichols class I really understand, for the first time I actually "get" math and I'm actaully beginning to enjoy it. He's very clear and asks questions until you get it. Do the homework and take notes and you'll do fine in the class.
This class was great. If you pay attention and have half a brain this class will be a breeze.
This prof is the one to take. He is very helpful and makes sure you understand the work. All you have to do is your work and you will get an A. Also he is a hottie in a big teddybear sort of way!
He is very hot-hot-hot
This guy is a great teacher. Trig isnt hard but identities can be confusing and he spends a lot of time on them and gives you many opportunities to practice in class. He works through all examples in detail, I would definately take him again.
He teaches things well, but goes too fast sometimes. Any time I asked him to slow down he did. He also helped me out during office hours a few times. His test and final were very fair. He let us redo 2 test. I usually get a c in math but ended up getting a B+ in Trig. I would strongly reccomend him.
It's a hard class, but if you pay attention it makes sense. He goes very fast, so if you aren't that good at math you have to be able to speak up, so he will slow down and explain things to you. The tests are not necessarily hard, but they aren't easy either. Good teacher!
helpful, fair, clear are the three best words I can think of to discribe Randy's teaching style
Randy is a very wonderful teacher. He really makes learning fun. He gives many different examples instead of just one...whatever you understand. He really wants you to suceed!!
Randy is a very helpful teachers. He understands that no one in the class has a masters degree in math so he takes his time explain everything clearly. If you dont understand something he will be more than happy to explain it. He always has reviews for the tests which help out a lot.The class isnt hard if you do the homework and make sure to ask ?s
amazing teacher i had him for two years and he rocks he explains everything very very clear and his tests are easy if you do your homework you will pass with out a doubt
Randy is a wonderful teacher. He makes everything extremely clear. He actually wants to see his students succeed and thats what makes him a great teacher. He's always available to help out his students. Ask questions about things you dont understand and you'll be just fine
DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE OTHER CHOICES!!!!! HE IMPATIENT AND CAN BE VERY RUDE!!
Mr. Nichols was the best math teacher I've ever had. Real down to earth guy and he always kept class entertaining. He shows lots of examples during the class and is always willing to work out / help you on any problems you have. His tests are straight forward and if you do the homework you should get an A.
Randy knows his Math junk. He's a good teacher and always includes time for questions. This was 119AW, extended hours. Ideal for non-math people like me. I recommend Randy.
I have never had a worse teacher. i would ask him for help and he would tell me NO!!! I have never failed a class until i took him.
Was not a good teacher. Not good at explaining things, and being a math teacher that is not a good thing.
He will go over any problems or questions that you have, but if no one says anything then he will move on. He gives good information so take lots of notes! You basically teach yourself the subject from your notes. You can retake quizes for better grades. He's helpful. Good teacher to take!
Worst professor ever. If you have the option, take someone else. Is not helpful and when you ask him questions he does not help you understand the material. Very rude and makes you feel like you are a failure. On tests, if you do not have what he wants you are screwed. In a nutshell, worst prodessor ever. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
I do not blame everything on Randy. I am told that Calc. II will be the hardest class in my engineering degree. I have aced nearly every class in five semesters of school and could not even get by with passing in his class. If your taking Randy for Calc., plan on spending a lot of time with tutors. Otherwise, take another professor! Thumbs down
I would never recommend Mr. Nichols to anyone. He alway tryed to rush through material before we had the basics down. Strongly reccomending here, that you take another teacher.
randy made the class way to hard. there are no points except tests. and even though everyone was failing he would not curve. tell me how a class average on a test can be 58 percent and not curve.
Very good teacher. This man knows his math and it shows. Will not coddle students however. If you're looking for a class to slack in, this isn't it. If you want to learn a LOT,take Randy, he's great. Two notes: 1)ASK if you have a problem. 2) DO NOT fall behind.
Randy is extremely knowledgeable of Calc 2 and knows what he is doing. It's a difficult subject so don't blame the prof. He will answer and demonstrate any questions, if nobody has any he will move on. The class moves quickly so do ALL of the homework. Majority of the points come from tests, they're hard but the final isn't so bad. Does not curve.
Mr. Nichols is a good teacher, but can move fast at times. You can't be afraid to ask questions or else he'll keep moving forward. Exams are challenging, and i took precalc in high school. Do the suggested homework!! It actually helps.
RANDY IS A GREAT TEACHER. HE MOVES VERY FAST SO STOP AND ASK QUESTIONS. DO THE HOMEWORK TO HELP GET BETTER UNDERSTANDING BECAUSE HE ONLY GIVES POINTS FOR MOSTLY TESTS SO YOU CAN FALL BEHIND IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. BUT HE IS A GOOD TEACHER AND HELPFUL.
Randy is very hot I really liked his accent. He sounds like he is from the south. I would marry Randy if he was not married.
He was not helpful. He said he would only do a couple problems from the students at the beginning of class. He kept saying you could go to the library for help. He repeatedly reminded us that the next class 119 was alot harder and was not at all helpful! He did not take extra time with the students even when we were failing. Dont recommend at all!
VERY VERY helpful guy. he knows what he is doing and will sit and help you one on one. i ery much like having him as a teacher. and he gives you some points on the test if you do the work! very much love this class!
He is an excellent teacher that I would recommend to anyone. In fact, I waited a semster to take the second half of this class (math116) because he wasn't teaching it that semester. He's always willing to answer questions and go over anything you do not understand. He's a very respectful teacher and does a great job teaching the material.
Goes a little fast but it is necessary. Willing to put in extra time for student if needed. The more effort you put in the better grade you will get.
Worst teacher, I had at Delta College!
One of the best teachers I've had. Very clear in teaching the basic rules to algebra. We finished 90% of the book, but didn't cover a chapter or two and I hope that doesn't come back to bite me in the arse. Otherwise it was the best math class I've ever taken.
I have Randy right now for spring semester and he by far is the worst math professor I have had. I recommend everyone to try to get Rivet or Wells!
Randy is a good teacher, he really wants you to understand the material. He can move fast at times but will always give another example if you ask. Tests are sometimes hard, and he doesn't curve so study hard!!! I had him for Calc 2 over spring, which is fast paced, but he made sure we were all prepared. It's a tough class, but YOU have to try hard
Randy is not forgiving with grading -- it can be frustrating if you lack the understanding. His class is difficult but if you're looking to get a solid understanding in the material, he will help you achieve it. Randy is an extremely nice and helpful person. If you're willing to put in the time, he will help you succeed.
My learning style and his teaching style clashed hard, all in all he is a good teacher. I would recommend him over any other math professor here at delta
Although his exams are hard, one could learn much from his class.
great teacher, do the suggested homework and you do good on the test and in the class
Randy's a good dude. He's strict with his grades and moves quick so keep up with the hw. You'll often 'go to the whiteboard' during class and do sample problems. Ask questions, stay after or hit him up via email, he's always more than willing to help out. A well spoken guy who knows how to teach math. The online homework sucks but, free points ;)
Randy takes Calculus very seriously. He was one of the most difficult professors I have ever had. I will not be taking him in the future. He will help you if you ask for it, but there are no other opportunities to earn points besides the tests. Good test takers will love his class.
Mr. Nichols is a great Math instructor. If you work hard and complete all of the suggested homework, you'll have no problem succeeding. His tests in Calc 2 were a bit challenging, but after reading the comments below I feel his course difficulty is exaggerated. Bottom line: If you have an interest in Mathematics, take one of his courses.
Mr. Nichols is overall a very good professor. Yes, he does base most of his points on tests. However, if you do the suggested homework that he assigns, you shouldn't have a problem. If you have trouble, he is very willing to help. He knows the material very well and will take the time to help his students understand it.
Randy is a good teacher, and expects a lot out of you. If you dont put in the work you will fail. if you are a ditz, you will probably fail. you need to know how to teach, and not just do. this is an elementary school teachers class. Its not easy. Sit in front, and do your homework, you will probably pass with at least a B.
Randy is the best math teacher I've ever had. The material isn't easy but he explains it very well. I was usually an A/B student in math and I did perfectly fine in his class and got an A. You will go to the board, but it helped me understand a lot better. You will have to work hard, but if you are at all competent in math I definitely recommend!
Tough Grading Teacher. You need to put a lot of time in to understand material. Limited homework graded. Mostly test's and a few online HW points. as well as 3 sections of trig review tested outside of class.
Worst math teach I have ever had, from the first day it's like whenever he is getting ready to start a new section he constantly says how difficult it might be and how fast he will go through it, which gets really annoying. I will never take him again
Moves way too fast through lessons, hard to keep up. He is very unforgiving and extremely strict with grading. If you're a math genius you'll be fine with him, otherwise he makes it quite difficult. Definitely would not take again.
Randy is by far the best math teacher I've had. He's very concerned about student progress. If you are willing to put the effort in, Randy will help you succeed. Great teacher, loves mathematics.
I took this class in the spring. Most people say Calc 2 is very well. He's a strict professor and expects homework to be turned in on time, but come on this is college! Do your homework and work out some suggested homework problems. Also, stay after class or go in early and ask for help when things are unclear. He's very helpful! I learned a lot!
I have NEVER gotten worse than a B in math class till him. He is a HORRIBLE teacher. He does barely any examples so when you get home and try the homework you have nothing to go off. He wastes time in class making us stand at the white boards doing problems in groups. Which is pointless because then when we get home we don't have ANY notes.
Randy is the best math teacher I've had when it comes to teaching. You will learn a lot if you pay attention and he's very enthusiastic about math. However, he makes his tests quite difficult. Simply understanding the ideas will not be enough. You will need to apply the ideas to the fullest extent in order to do good on the tests
Demands you to know your stuff. If you work hard in and out of class you will be fine.
For Calc I, Randy worked hard to challenge students but also provide support for them to succeed. He's a tough grader and tests are no joke, but I appreciated that in anticipation of the whole calc series. Randy will breeze through certain sections that students understand, but always stops to clarify even minute things if asked.
I took Mr. Nichols 2 years ago for Calc 2 and have since transferred. He is outstanding as a teacher an probably doesn't get the credit he deserves. If you have a problem with him, just wait until you transfer to a uni with an incompetent math department. He teaches you everything you need to succeed. If you care about success, take Mr. Nichols.
All we did in class was stand at the board and do problems. So when you got home you had no notes to look off of. He doesn't do enough examples for you to understand the hard questions when you get home. The tests are NOTHING like the homework or assigned work. He also doesn't give point even if you attempt the question.
Randy is good guy and his teaching is not bad. I could understand having him for a lower level math class but definitely not for Calc 2. The first problem is he has the longest tests of any professor. He even said so himself, and I have been told by another professor. Second, he grades insanely hard. DO ALL HOMEWORK. The pop quizzes are very hard!
Randy provides helpful practice problems for Calc I and scores quizzes and worksheets for you to assess your test readiness. Practice tests are a good start for test prep, but tests are tough. Randy regularly gives half-points for correct work with an incorrect result, which is nice. Put in the time and regular study sessions and you'll be fine.
The worst class I have ever taken. I have never made less than a B in any class. He is the first. Unapproachable and often tests are given when some of the material was never tough. When 70% of the class makes a C or less, then you know something is wrong. I absolutely hated his class.
Randy is the hardest teachers I have ever had. He expects you to devote your life to his class. When you go to him to ask for help he hurries to rush you out of his office so he can go back to being on break. The tests are difficult, has pop quizzes, and no curving of grades. Unless you had him before don't take him. About 12 my class failed.
It's like he's trying to fail people. Trig's a hard enough subject and he just made it harder. You have maybe 15 minutes to do a 10 question quiz. I took a test in the testing center and he actually dragged me out after an hour. There's no time limit in the testing center that's why I was there... No matter how much I did he nit picked everything.
Randy is very smart and a great teacher. Homework is a must, wont learn without it. Lecturesquizzesexamples were exactly like the tests. Tests are tough and will take you the whole class. Very helpful but need to ask questions. Be prepared for pop quizzes. Awesome teacher would take again!
I love Randy! I'm not sure why, I've heard a few students in my Trig class with him saying they don't like him. But I think he's absolutely hilarious and I love the way he teaches. I'll probably be taking one of his classes again!
Randy was not the best teacher I've ever had. He wasn't very helpful, and when we did board work, if you ask for help, he usually just came to your area, changed the things you did wrong and expected you to know. He is a tough grader, the tests are hard, and his notes weren't very good. Better study the book and not ask for help.
He is a nice guy but get ready for long and boring lectures. The tests are pretty hard and if you need help you have to ask him. your going touse the book for home work but not much else.
Exams don't reflect homework, pre-tests, or class lectures. Teacher is a tough grader. Not a lot of extra help. "Flying blind" is the best way to describe the class.
If you are engaged in his lectures, you're more likely to pass. I love his learning style, but it's not for everyone.
Randy is a great teacher. He covers all of the material in class and goes into great detail to make sure you understand the problems. The homework and practice tests are the material he covers on his exams. Would definitely recommend!
I took Randy for Trigonometry and I absolutely loved his class! I am not very good at math but I felt he really taught the class well. I wouldn't skip his class though otherwise you can get far behind and then it's difficult to come back. His test were pretty tough too!
He was a very mean teacher to my class because some people didn't fully understand. He would discuss a students grade in front of the class and is a big fan of board work l, leaving you with no notes for homework. Half my class dropped out, myself included. And his tests are nothing like homework or class work.
I didn't like Randy at all. He was rude and expected you to already know everything. Would not recommend.
I'm not sure why Randy has such a bad review. Obviously math sucks but for some reason he really loves the subject. He teaches in a way that it seems easier, and if you don't get it he is more than willing to show more examples to help. Sometimes he has "pop quizzes" but he tells you the only days he will possibly spring them on you. Great teacher.
I have had Randy for both MTH 115 and 116. He is, by far, my favorite math teacher I have ever had. He will make you work for your grade, but in the process you will learn a lot. He is truly there for you and class is enjoyable even though the material isn't always easy or enjoyable. I would recommend Randy for a class if you're willing to work.
Randy is an excellent professor. He is very blunt which I think some people may find off putting, but I find it to be a great attribute for a mathematics professor. He is very passionate about about the subject. Ask questions if you do not understand the subject matter because he tends to lecture at a quick pace.
Randy is a good teacher overall, but he is very demanding. I remember him blowing up at my class for not answering a question. He gives a lot of homework and will give you 0 on it even if it is 85% done. The practice tests are nothing like the exams, but the exams are exactly like what he does on the boards. I will never take him again.
First test was 4X the amount of points, and he switched up the problems. did so bad it would have ruined my gpa if i stayed
Very tough grader. If you don't show every single step of a problem, you get no credit, even if it is the correct answer.
I took Randy for trig and pre calc. He's a tough grader and I've never seen him grade on a curve and he says he rarely gives extra credit. There's occasional pop quizzes but you kind of know when they're coming. He actually teAches really well but you have to make sure to always be prepared and not fall behind.
Not by any means an easy teacher, but very helpful. I definitely effectively learned a lot in this class and would take another class of his in the future. Prepares you well for the tests and helps you understand the material.
Randy made the tough concepts of calculus easy! He taught at an easy to follow pace and gave excellent notes. The example problems he would do in class and put on the practice exam were pretty close to the problems he would use for the exam so you would know what to expect. I would recommend Randy to everyone!
Randy is a very good teacher, and you can tell that he is very passionate about math. He says at the start of the semester that you will have "pop quizzes" but there is a fair warning to them if you listen to what he says in class. DO THE HOMEWORK! His test are difficult, but he does give partial credit for problems.
This is for MTH122. The class is structured to where the final grade is 80% tests and quizzes, and 20% homework. Everyone in my class seems to be struggling. Common denominator? That would be the professor. It's not rocket science, its freshman level algebra, this should not be this difficult. I will most likely have to drop this class tomorrow.
Hes a good professor. Do your work and show a genuin interest and youll do well in the class.
Randy is honestly such a good professor, you can tell he really loves teaching math. He doesn't just give you formulas, but explains why they are used to help you understand math better. His class is much quicker than a high school math class, and there were only four tests to be graded on. He's a really cool guy and would suggest taking his class!
I Love Randy as a professor! He has a true passion for teaching math and he teaches it in a way that is more than understandable in my opinion. there is no homework grades, only exam grades. i love this concept because its less stressful and you can learn at your own pace outside of class. i'm a sports guy and randy teaches like a coach coaches.
Randy seems like a pretty cool guy but he doesn't do online learning well at all. From every rate I've seen you get all the bad and none of the good in his online courses. The problems he does in the videos and the practice exam look like they're from a different class compared to the exam. I got through every video he made for each unit in 2 days.
I have had Randy for 3 semesters in a row. The first time I had him it was for mth119. Im not going to lie, I never really wanted to go to class. Mth115 was an amazing class and as long as you really try, you will pass! Mth116 is a small class but Randy really cares for us. He is not the best for online classes, so maybe dont have him online.
Whole class was graded by tests only so if you dont get a good grade on one then your grade is already going to drop. Self taught chapters & the videos he did explaining the problems were very easy problems compared to the ones actually on the test. He marks you down on the test if you dont show every little step even if the answer is correct.
One of the worst professors I have ever had at Delta. He was rude to me. When I asked him questions, he would treat my like I was stupid and that I should already know the material. I strongly recommend staying as far away from this professor as possible.
Don't take this professor. Your entire grade is based on 4 tests. His videos don't explain everything you have to know and he relies on you reading a textbook instead of doing his job. I took the online version of this class so he has no problem putting students against each other in rigid competition by grading all of his tests on a curve. Sad.
Randy was a decent professor overall. He always answered emails in a timely manner and had decent lectures. However, the class overall is mainly graded on four tests and he is a tough grader. If you do not do a question in the way he taught or forget to show any work, you will get a zero on the question. The tests are also very hard so be warned.
Randy was a great professor and makes it very clear how his class material is a necessity to become a good teacher. He gives graded assignments almost every week and are quite easy if you pay attention in class. As long as you pay attention and stay on top of your work you can pass this class. I would definitely recommend his class 10/10.
Randy is one of the best math teachers I've had. During lecture he explains how and why everything is the way it is, and is able to answer any questions so that you understand. He cares deeply about math and wants to see students truly learn. He is a somewhat tough, but fair, grader and the tests are thorough. Grade is only on tests, no graded HW.
Great class! Mr. Nichols is a straight-to-the-point kind of guy. His lecture can get a little boring but are not difficult to follow. No required homework just suggested. He also likes to do lots of board work. In almost every class we went to the board. He is a nice guy who is passionate about teaching.
Amazing teacher, I loved him and learned so much. He lives up to his own title of "fastest grader in the midwest" because our tests were graded within 4 hours of completion. Bad side is all the grades are based on 4 tests and 10 graded assignments, so not a lot of wiggle room for mistakes. Really liked him tho, super cool guy.
I am not very good at math to begin with, so taking this class was not easy for me. There are only four tests and a few homework assignments that are graded. The lectures and expectations are clear, but if you are a poor test taker, I don't suggest this class.
Honestly, this professor was rude more than anything. He doesn't know how to teach math without sounding like a know it all. His tests are super hard and he doesn't give enough time for reviewing before a test. its either his way or your'e completely wrong, and he's not afraid to mark you wrong for a small error. I would not take him again.
Take notes! Everything he writes on the board write down! Your grade is earned not given. Overall I learned a lot and he is a great teacher! I would take him again if I needed more math!
I had Professor Nichols and he was the best professor I've ever had. If you had a question, he would stop class and make sure you understood the material before moving on. His suggest homework was actually harder than his tests in Calc 2, but it gave you a good idea of what was going to be on the test. Overall, wonderful professor and enthusiastic.
I took de calc 2 with Mr Nichols and he was great at explaining each topic because of his examples he had ready and his willingness to keep explaining until there are no more questions. It was clear that he prepares the lessons before class and has examples ready to explain everything. 10/10 would recommend and take again. #FastestGraderInMidwest
The best professor I've ever had - cool dude who knows his stuff well. He's enthusiastic about the material and is clearly interested in the subject. Not a super easy class but as long as you put the work the work in you'll do fine. No room to be lazy though.
Super funny dude. He is very helpful when it comes to homework. You just need to ask him to go over a problem and he won't fuss. The class is incredibly homework-dependent, with a few graded assignments and four or five tests. If you don't do the homework, it is very difficult to pass. He gives enough for practice so you flow through the class.
He was a great professor, always made sure to check if we understood and answered any questions. Classes were mostly lectures, and he'd show an example and have us work out problems on a whiteboard. Don't do the bare minimum and assume you'll know the material. The suggested homework seems tedious, but it's helpful to practice with harder problems.
Overall, solid class. I learned a lot of new things in Calc 2 with Professor Nichols. He held us to a high standard throughout the semester, which I respect because it made me a stronger math student. It's clear that he cares about his students and is always willing to help out, whether it's inside or outside of class. 10/10
He is very blunt, if he feels you aren't ready he will say so. He says you must do the suggested HW to pass the tests, and I agree. The suggested HW is great study material and he also gives practice tests. Randy is strict but reasonable. He doesn't deal with shenanigans, but when I had COVID he was very reasonable about allowing me to catch up.
Randy is tough but fair. He goes through content extremely fast and expects you to advocate for yourself if you have questions or need him to slow down. Tests were tough but were based on the lectures and practice tests are available. His is a class you have to show up for. He has videos online but they do not cover everything the lecture would.
Awful professor. Spends 99% of his time claiming "If you don't understand this, then drop out of my class, you are not prepared here", even on the first day. The course is 600 points total, and that's 100 for homework, and 500 for 5 tests! (100 points each.) He's generally brash, and also goes over work way too fast (he claims 2 months in 2 weeks.)
Professor Nichols is a no-nonsense instructor who expects you to put in the work. The homework is key, but he provides plenty of practice to help you succeed. I found unstuck ai and ChatGPT really useful for studying. Overall, a challenging but rewarding class.
Professor is a sloppy grader and speeds through your tests missing a whopping 28% worth of grade. Afterwords he will claim it was a glitch with the PDF which magically fixed itself when the dean asked him to check it again! Has no respect for those who are working while trying to take his classes, 0/10 on an assignment turned in 1 day after due.
Randy was a great professor. His lectures were great, everything was explained, and we did practice in class too. He tells you exactly what he wants to see on tests, and he's great at answering questions. There are only 10 graded assignments and 4 tests, but if you study using the textbook and practice he has on D2L, you'll pass.
Randy is a no-nonsense, level-headed professor who sets clear and reasonable expectations. I took him for both 151 and 161 pre-calc and calc. I wish I could have him for calc 2 next year. There are 4 tests and 10 graded worksheets for the course. The tests are difficult, but fair. Studying/homework 5-8 hours per week is essential to score high.
Down to earth with mathematics, gives very detailed lectures revolving how math works, and why numbers do what they do. Lots of in class practice, and assignment book homework. pretty decent guy in general
