If you're trying to learn algebra, this is not the teacher. His lectures are very confusing and he's not much interested in helping you. He will refer you to the math lab. If you're taking this to get to 104 I highly recommend Mrs. Rhoads. She's great!
I took Calculus as a summer course, and find the course to be very fast paced. Saying that, the prof goes through most things clearly, and is pretty fair when it comes to tests and grading. He gives you enough opportunities, to get a decent grade. But beware the dry humor, and monotone voice. I would take him again...
Took his statistics class in Fall 2006. I found him to be pretty clear on everything. If I needed help he would stay after class to help. He would make sure that we understood everything. He even would tell us what to expect on test, and was very fair on the tests. He would give points just for trying to problem.
If you have military conflictions while you're in his class, don't expect him to work ANYTHING out with you!
Really good teacher, I was cool with the guy. All i had to do was participate with the class and everything he said made sense. Asking him lots of question. I would defintely recommend the guy
Robertson is a GREAT teacher! He takes the time to make sure the entire class understands before he moves on. He does prepare you for the tests with review and practice tests. He will make time to see you later if you need more help. He is extremly friendly and has a goofy sense of humor. I would definetly recommend him to EVERYBODY!just ask questio
Good teacher. Very helpful and does his best to make sure you understand. HW is assigned and makes own tests. I would've gotten a low B/high C by test scores alone, but he emphasizes attendance in lab as well as completing HW. All things combined, I got an A. I'd recommend him for anyone needing Math 4, and will look for him in Math 20 is possible.
I took Pre-calc and now calc 2 with him and he is an excellent teacher...very clear and helpful. He comes well prepared to lectures and makes sure that you understand what he is talking about. His tests are challenging without being impossible and he gives lots of credit for hw. Overall, one of the best math teachers I have taken.
Great teacher because he wants to make sure his students understand the material before moving on to the next lesson. I always try to take his classes, and when people ask who to take for math, I always recommend Mr. Robertson because he's excellent and very personable. He also gives study guides a week prior to the exams. No surprises!
Pretty good teacher. Some folks had problems in class but i don't think it was because of him. Just do the homework and study the test reviews and you should get an A or B easy. He doesn't go over homework in class though. Not a big deal because i didn't think it was that hard. He's a nice guy and explains everthing clearly. I'd recommend him
I took Math 104 during the 2008 summer session with Mr. Robertson. He is easily the best math teacher I have ever had. Go to class, ask questions, and do your homework and you will do fine. I have a really hard time in math and worked my tail off, but still got C+. If you aren't confident in your math skills, this man will help.
Good teacher, well organized course and very dry/sarcastic sense of humor. Tries to get everyone to understand before moving on, but led to us getting a bit behind (and rushing) for the more complex material at the end. Turning in HW early gets you E/C. One of the clearest math books (Triola Stats) I've seen; reading the sections is very helpful.
Math can get some people lost and Randy will just make you more confused. He goes over a lot of problems, but he still assigns a lot of homework. He never explains why we do certain steps, he just does them. Basically, he isn't the greatest at explaining math.
I took his Math 20 (Calc I for sci/eng) during the summer.Despite (probably) failing the class, I have to say that he is (IMO) a great instructor. You can ask him questions and he will answer them. His tests are hard for those who aren't good at math, there is tons of homework, and some opportunities for extra credit. See you again in the fall Randy!
While a little on the dry side, I think he did a great job explaining the material. he always asks if there are any questions, and will take the time to explain questions, until its understood by the majority. I would recommend this teacher to students.
he was an awesome teacher. stats is apparently a really difficult class but he made it really easy to understand & he let the class use the calculator to do all the work instead of having us memorize all the equations.
Robertson is a really great teacher. If possible I would take him again for another math class. He gives reasonable tests, and at one time let us even retake it (bc we're stupid -_-). He's a really great teacher, explains everything well and wants his students to learn. He's also always willing to stop if you need him too. He's also very sarcastic!
I am currently taking him for math 40. His class was relatively barable. I have had him for 020, and 021, and I would recommend him again. His tests are challenging, but his lectures are very clear. He has ample opportunities for you to see him outside of class.
Outstanding professor. Very good at teaching to the class. Makes sure everyone knows what is happening. Expects you to know basics. Does lots of examples from the book, which helps understanding more than the textbook does. Assigns a lot of homework, but it is worth 20% and helps you prepare for tests. No curve ball test questions. Very Fair
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. Definitely wish I could take him for future math classes. He even recommended me for a job in the math lab.
This professor is a good teacher despite my grade. It is a tough class but you will learn.
Out of all the math professors I have had at Solano, Robertson is by far the best.He gives you a practice test a week in advance and the exam will only cover material covered on the practice test. Also you can get extra credit on every hw assignment. He always makes sure everyone understands the material and is readily availible outside of class.
He's probably the best math teacher I've had. He takes the time to explain everything step by step. Which is really great if math just isn't your subject. The exams are hard but if you take notes, and do the homework, they're doable. I recommend him for the people that feel they need extra help with math.
Very quick paced but will slow down when anyone needs help. Will not curve grades at all but come to class, do your work and you will be fine. Gives practice tests which saved me every time. Highly recommended. I take him every semester that he is available
I took Prof. Robertson for Statistics. He's the best Math teacher I've ever had - he's clear and very helpful. Very fair, and if you go to class, you should get at least a B in his class. Gives practice exams and gives 2nd chance exams (altho those are supposed to be harder). He is well organized with material.
He teaches very well and even gives practice test But grades heavily on the actual tests. He doesn't give you an accurate grade which is bad on his part. No notes for test. Many people dropped out of his class cause his tests we're not reasonable. I take Wai over him.
Mr. Robertson is probably the hardest math teacher i have had. His practice tests always saved me, but he does grade exams very hard. If youre looking for an easy class, this is not it.
Do not take, take another professor for stats or Calc if your looking too pass. Grades heavily on Tests and Final, no notes, and hw barely counts for anything. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!!!!
I had Mr. Robertson for 21 and 22, and linear. He is a good teacher. He goes over a lot of problems in class as well as assigns a good amount of homework. He almost never goes into the theoretical side, which is frustrating because it limits your understanding to only what is taught and not the broader spectrum of the material.
I took Math 20 over the summer with Professor Robertson. I've taken lots of summer classes. His was not the most demanding one I took, but make sure you do your homework and study both that and the practice tests for each test and you'll do fine, unless you haven't had trig or precalc. He's a great teacher and really dedicated. One of the best.
One of the best Math professors I've ever had. I wouldn't take my math classes with anyone else. With that said however, his classes aren't a walk in the park, but as long as you stay caught up and motivated, there's no reason why you shouldn't pass.
Mr. Robertson is an excellent teacher, and I took him this summer 2011. The first day he tries to scare and intimidate the class to scare people away, but STILL TAKE HIM. He is very helpful and his class in my opinion is extremly easy. Take notes, attend class every day, turn the homework in early and do the math hours you'll for sure recieve an A!
Amazing teacher. His doesn't grade easy, but gives you everything you need for success. If you take his class, I recommend really studying the practice tests because they will really prepare you for the exam. Make sure to take advantage of extra credit for early homework!!!
Awesome teacher. Although he doesn't grade easy, he gives you everything you need to succeed. If you take his class make sure to study the practice test. This will really help you on the exam. Make sure to take full advantage of the extra credit he gives for early homework. He is very helpful and will take time after class to help you.
Great teacher, was clear on everything. Practice tests are very helpful. Tests arent too bad if you study and do the practice tests. Has a bit of a dry sense of humor. Will take other classes with him, if possible
I have tried to take math several times before. This was the only time I really got it. The teacher is dedicated and will explain and re-explain untill you understand. I am taking him next semester. DO THE HOMEWORK EARLY!! He gives you extra points that add up.
Good teacher, prepares you to succeed. Homework is mandatory and constant, but it helps you in the end.
I have taken him for 2 semesters now and will take his class again next semester. He is extremely helpful and makes sure you understand the information. A very, very good teacher I would recommend to everyone.
A clear, helpful, and funny teacher. He has a strong understanding of the material and explains it very well. The workload in his classes is A LOT! Be prepared to spend lots of time in the MAC. Overall, great teacher, one of the best math teachers at Solano.
Amazing teacher that sets students up for success, his tests are challenging but he gives practice tests that if studied well will make the tests fairly straight forward. I recommend turning all homework in early as it is the easiest way to average a 100 in homework which makes for easy free points. Best math teacher at Solano. Highly recommend.
Mr.Robertson gives extra credit on hw if turned in early! take advantage of that. Very helpful and nice when you need help. Very laid back teacher and somewhat old schooled and funny. Cares about every student and wants students to succeed. Tests were hard only because everything had to be remembered.
Excellent teacher, highly recommend! Mr.Robertson is a wonderful teacher, he definitely takes the time to help you when you ask or he sees you struggling. He makes the class easy and offers you extra credit, its up to you to take advantage of it. Only criticism is he can get a little timid of certain students and can lose focus of class sometimes.
Professor Robertson is AWESOME!!! He is a little quirky but he definitely makes math fun. Offers extra credit by turning in assignments early, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! Responds quickly to emails. People complain he goes too fast but if you speak up and asks questions he I more than happy to clarify.
Mr. Robertson is a fantastic teacher! He grades fairly, is extremely nice and approachable! He is clear on what he wants and easy to understand and is the only math teacher that doesn't make you buy the online math lab thing! Just the cheap book from amazon. Go to class! The 2 point assignment due at the beginning of class will help you!
Prof. Robertson is a wonderful teacher! He assigns and collects homework that he returns in a timely manner which is helpful. His tests aren't easy but they are fair and there are no surprises. Overall I would highly recommend Robertson as a teacher! He is approachable and kind. I just wish he taught calc 3 as well!
To sum up my experience with Prof. Robertson: he's like the Mr. Rogers of math.
this class was hard for me because I am not good at math. he talks like a robot, but he is very nice. he is a good teacher, just not the one I needed.
He is the ideal teacher for someone who has a strong grasp of Math. If you struggle with it, then this course will be tough. He rewards those who stay on top of the HW, and turn it in on the early date. The class is very fast paced, but that's only because there is so much material to cover, but he's very organized and helpful. Study for the exams!
I work hard to make sure I take my math classes with this professor. He is kind and really cares about what he is doing. He is clear and works really hard to get everyone to understand. He will EXPLAIN algebra (including why) until you understand. He really cares about what he is doing. He is also quirky and makes super corny jokes.
I'm awful at Math, but he did a very good job at helping me understand what we were learning. It was still difficult for him, but it wasn't at all his fault. Be prepared for lots of homework and hard tests, though! If you struggle with math, I would suggest taking him. He helps a lot. Just make sure to pay attention and do the work.
I am not a lover of Math but Professor Robertson really made it so that I understood. Homework is a must. He is available to answer questions and the part I love the most is that he still uses an old fashioned book for the class. Would absolutely take again.
He is a great teacher, definitely fair. Much better than the teacher I had this last semester. I did all my homework, which he gives you extra credit for if turned early, practice tests, group instruction as well as one on one. He sets you up for success if you choose to use that way. Never missed a class, great communication, EXCELLENT TEACHER
EXCELLENT professor. He is really passionate about teaching and great at doing it. If you put the effort into this class, and have the right prerequisites you WILL pass. He really works hard on making sure you know the material before testing you on it. If you want to learn this is the class for you. I've never enjoyed math until I took this class.
Mr. Robertson is the best professor I've ever had. I've always struggled in Math and he made it easy to understand. He really cares about his students and wants you to be well prepared. He does give a lot of work BUT its manageable with hard work. Don't miss a class and RQ add and def help your grade.
Great math teacher! He instills a good work ethic and truly wants each student to understand. He is willing to explain difficult concepts and is very clear with his expectations. Definitely prepares you for future math classes. Class is a bit fast paced but is doable if you put in the work.
Mr. Robertson is a tough grader, he deducts way too many points for any mistakes. Be prepared to get lots of homework. He makes it seem as if he wants math to be your #1 priority.
Professor Robertson, great teacher!
Literally the best math professor at Solano! He's really fair with his grading and there's no surprises on his tests. If you can take a Conrad test, you can certainly blaze through his tests. He actually gives the same amount of hw as most math professors, the only thing is you have to turn it in, so you'll actually do it.
He's a very patient teacher with an effective style of teaching you the material so you are prepared for homework and tests.
This is coming from someone who was never good in math, he definitely made it so much easier and clearer for me to learn and also teach others. He's not boring so it makes it easy to stay on task. Beware of the loads of homework problems! But it can all be done when doing your MAC hours. He's a great teacher.
Mr. Robertson really cares about the students. If you show him that you care he will go out of his way to help you, he would even come in early to go over any confusing problems we had on the practice test. He's very patient and clearly explains things. If you have DSP accommodations he's very understanding.
This teacher is awesome. I have never been very good at math but this teacher really wants you to learn. He will spend extra time trying to help those that don't understand. He really cares about teaching his students, he wants everyone to learn and pass the class. I wish I could take him for all my math classes. I highly recommend this teacher.
He is my favorite professor for math. I have a hard time learning math but he is always good at breaking down the problems and answering questions is class. A LOT of homework so get ready for that.
Professor Robertson spends his lectures going over problems straight out of the text book. He covers the basics of what you'll need to know for homework, and them let you work on more difficult problems on your own. The subject matter itself was very difficult but I feel like I left that class having learned a lot. Highly recommended!
His class is very straightforward. Classtime is only note-taking. Before a test, he'll give you a review sheet with exactly what's on the test. Optional review sessions before each test. He emails all the homework assignments a week in advance, so there's never any confusion about what's due when. I wish more teachers taught like him. 10/10 (1)
Prof Robertson is very patience and passionate about teaching. Students are given ample opportunities to succeed. Key to success in this class >>attendance, assignment (homework/test) and study.
Let me start off by saying I got an A in this class but this is by far the worst class I have ever taken at any college. I have never felt more uncomfortable in a class. Hes super creepy and gives off this strangely happy vibe. His tests are ridiculous and his hw is even worse. Hes never available when he says he is. Take calc at a diff college.
I have never felt this uncomfortable in a class ever. He indirectly belittles his students by proving himself in areas of math we dont even cover in the class. Theres definitely a creepy type of vibe to him. He has that look in his eye that is very unsettling. While some can look past this, unfortunately I couldnt and had to drop his class
I had read some not so favorable reviews prior to taking this class. However, they appeared to be from the same person, one with an agenda, and in no way related to the coursework - which is the primary reason most of us are on this site to begin with. This teacher is one of the best. Algebra is NOT my forte', and yet, I am expecting to earn an A.
Good Professor. He maintains everyone to stay on top of stuff. Checking if all other students are doing the homework. Would recommend!
He assigns lots of homework, but repetition truly is the only way to master math. Math isn't my strongest subject but I earned my A in his class. Pay attention during lecture as his way of teaching you the material is to do problems straight out of the textbook so take lots of notes for good examples. Homework is heavy but prepares you for tests.
Fantastic teacher. Makes you work a lot, but it's worth it. You really learn your stuff with him.
He is okay. Expect to teach yourself. The mandatory classes are annoying. He rambles a lot but the class is easy. As long as you can teach yourself stats you will get an A.
I personally am terrible at math but Professor Robertson offers every opportunity to succeed between the homework assignments and help that is offered. I have to admit that I was awake for probably 5% of the classes but passed with only a little difficulty. The homework will save your grade and the practice makes a huge difference.
I am very bad at math. I took a pre algebra class with him in my first semester of college when I was 17 and way too young for college. He is the only reason I passed. I am now in his online Algebra class and I am doing great compared to my last two failed algebra classes. He is such a great educator and is very kind and will explain it all well.
I absolutely enjoyed professor Robertson's lectures. They were very interactive and as long as you participated, you would generally do well on the homework as well. I believe he gives very good feedback and will definitely help you if you reach out.
I will take Mr Robertson class again he is very caring he take his time with you to make sure you understand what the work is about he is a amazing teacher if you have difficulties with math this is the class you wont to be in you will know math after this class.
Calculus is hard regardless of the professor you take, but if you are going to take this class MAKE SURE TO GET HIM. He is better than the other math professors and really knows what he is doing. His classes are long but you always get a 10 min break. He speaks clearly and professionally and occasionally makes a joke. He is cringey but special :)
Awesome professor, one of my favorites. He makes sure students understand the lessons! Always make sure to ask questions, and take advantage of his office hours! Made sure you understand the lecture and offers a lot of help to everyone.
Professor Robertson is great, he is willing to go in depth about anything you have questions about. In office hours he's also willing to go off on tangents about other topics as well. He forms a connection with his students and helps any way he can. He has plenty of witty math jokes that also fall into the category of dad jokes, most are funny.
Amazing professr, cares about his students and is willing to chat. Office hours are great and plentiful. Calculus is hard no matter who you take but Prof. Robertson makes it a little easier. He is willing to go over something multiple times and explain it multiple different ways. I took him for Calc 1 and 2, if I had to do it again I would pick him
Calc is a very difficult class and the longer lecture days can be hard (take a MWF instead of TR, 2 hr lectures will hurt you), GET PROF. ROBERTSON WHEN YOU CAN. Office hours are a gift! Use them!! Go every day that you can, even if you just want to get started on hw. Participate in class! He's more willing to help if he knows you're trying!
I highly recommend this professor. He is concerned about student's welfare as well as their excel in his class. IMO, he grades fairly, gives practice tests ahead of time and his tests don't drop any surprises. Calc is a difficult class but he ensures to help his students. 100% would take again.
Prof Robertson definitely wants his students to pass. Calculus is not an easy course, so be sure you are on top of your homework, your practice test review in order to pass the class. He is approachable and his teaching style isn't rigorous. However I took calculus in HS so my opinion may differ..
Professor Robertson is a fantastic teacher who really, really cares about his students. He acknowledges that students are human and gives breaks in the middle of the long classes. He also remains very accessible outside of class and is extremely patient. His class was a great community that he brought together. For ANY math class, get him!
Took him for Calc I and II. He's a good guy, never gives you any curveballs on any of the tests he gives out (4 tests and 1 final). You get a practice test for each test/quiz which tends to be a lot more difficult than the actual test. For every section you get a homework packet which is more difficult than the test too.
Professor Robertson is an example of a great professor who is passionate about their subject. Lectures are easy to understand and he assigns plenty of extra credit. The assigned homework and practice tests are harder than the actual test. His class prepares you for future math classes. I recommend that you take him over other professors at Solano.
Prof Robertson is the best Math prof I've ever had. He makes himself available with generous office hours, is always willing to help with HW questions, and his lectures are so helpful. Tests are easier than HW, and he grades so quickly (Grades tests within 3 days). He goes over every test and you can tell he is truly there to support his students.
Professor Robertsons difficulty is a 3.5, he is essentially preparing you for a future of Math past Calc 2 and other possible harder Math Professors. His tests are fair and just in difficulty. He does have four tests throughout the semester but they help you pass the class. His teaching method is effective but could use a more step by step guide.
If you want to succeed, GO TO OFFICE HOURS!! Do the hw - tests are just like hw. Do the extra credit too, it boosts your grade so much. He doesn't focus on theory/derivations of formulas. Instead, he does lots of practice problems during lectures. Learn your *Pythagorean trig identities well* - it helps greatly. Robertson is the GOAT. What a guy :D
Professor Roberston is hands down one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Though I had him over the summer and took calculus with him, he made it clear that the class would be rigorous. He always asks if everyone understands the lectures and genuinely cares for his students. He is always available and eager to help you in the ASTC and class.
Robertson is the best math teacher I've ever had. Initially, I was very intimidated by the course content but he made it super easy to understand and really drove my success. You need to make sure to do the HW and the practice tests that he gives out before every quiz/test/exam they prepare you extremely well. Love this guy!
We come out, we bang two 3's. They gotta come out of the zone. They start going man and then, you know, it's just barbecue chicken from there. Infinite aura from this professor. Pure barbecue chicken.
By far the greatest math professor at Solano College, nothing else needed to be said. Fair exams, extremely helpful, lectures are well taught and he has clear passion for what he does.
Prof Randy is such a divine and distinguished gentlemen. He comes to class with a good attitude and is always ready to teach. He explains lectures in depth and is always open to questions. Available outside of class and gets back to emails fast. He is hands down the beset prof at SCC. Bro actually cares. Feels like the father figure I never had.
Professor Robertson is a great professor who truly cares about his students. He was always willing to help no matter how “dumb” your question may be, I had plenty. Was frequently in ASTC, I had failed calc previously and took it with him and understood so much more. My only complaint is the review is too long before tests. Best math prof at Solano.
Best math professor I've ever had. Very easy to get ahold of outside of class, from office hrs to ASTC. Really cares about his students and makes lectures as engaging as possible. Tough class because it's fast paced, but he provides tons of support. Also do your homework!! If you really love math this is hands down the best class for you.
One of the best math professors at Solano. Lectures is him going over different types of problems that will be on your homework which will also end up on tests. He is accessible outside of class and explains concepts very well. He hands out practice tests before every test and questions are similar to what's on exams. Recommend having study groups!
Randy was a pretty chill professor, his lectures were good but I thought there were some things that could be explained better. He is pretty generous with partial credit. He's easy to reach outside of class.
Professor Robertson is great, he explains the abstract concepts in the class is a way that is much easier to understand. He gives outlines of what to expect for each exam which is very helpful and also gives good feedback. There is a lot of homework but most of it isn't very hard and is actually useful as study material
The subject was very difficult for me but he was an amazing professor. very accessible, lots of office hours/ASTC hours, funny and is very very patient. Do the homework, study for the exams. He can only help you as much as you're willing to help yourself.
He is the best professor ever. He understands the topic so well and makes the lectures very interesting. Also, if you are stuck, you can find him outside of class in the ASTC or MESA centers. That is such a beautiful dedication to his students. This is a hard class, but with Robertson, there is nothing to fear. He will relieve all your stress.
