Mr. Taylor is a great teacher. He gives great real world examples and drills them in so that you never forget. He is funny and almost made me like math unlike the other teachers I have had that made me hate it.
He moved through the material to fast without explaining it clearly. When 15 people failed the last test he still moved on even though it was clear that the class did not understand. His classroom always seems tense and he is more concered about finishing the chp. than making sure the students under
horrible teacher do not suggest this class if you struggle in math. He pushes through the book too fast without making the information understandable
Horrible teacher! I will avoid this teacher like the black death! I understand there are a select few that like he teaching, but if you are normal and don't get A's in math class: STAY AWAY. He rambles and doesn't explain topics in an easy manner.I really mean it. STAY AWAY! He does not care about his students or what kind of a job he does.
Despite what other people are posting, he's a good teacher. He can be a bit intimidating, but you just have to overcome that. He's helpful if you ask him. He also rents out calculators for $30 a semester instead of having to buy them. I found him amusing, he's got a very dry sense of humor. If you have questions, definetely ask.
I took him two semesters ago and I wasn't disappointed at all. Despite other people's opinions, he is a good teacher. he can be intimidating, and he does move fast during lecture, but he gives you easy examples so students catch on easily. easy tests. no collected homework.
He can be a very hard teacher and sometimes he rushes through the material but he is very understanding if you need help. And he seems like he really cares if you understand the material.
I failed the math placement test I took so they said I needed to take this class. So for people who understand the concepts of Algebra, but just need a refresher course, he is a good teacher for that.

Made sure class was keeping up by engaging them in the lesson. Good explanations on math concepts and very friendly. I reccomend him 100% and I am a poor math student...got B in his class!
Mr. Taylor is a great teacher. I have failed math classes since I was little, but when I took him last semester I got a B. Math never came so easy to me!!! I would recommend him to anyone!!!
Mr. Taylor is a great teacher. I took him for Math 65 and 55. Math is one of those hard subjects to pay attention in but Taylor makes you pay attention by constantly giving examples and calling on students to answer them. If he sees you not listening watch out he'll call on you. That may seem harsh but it helps you to really keep up with what's going on. His explanations are easy to follow and if you’re still having problems he is extremely helpful at finding you the help you need to get caught up.
This teacher is pretty cool, and keeps you into his class by calling on random people. No body wants to be called on and give a wrong answer or have him repeat the question. I think he loves math more than his family.
he doesn't explain very well but atleast i am passing the class so far
He is a gr4at teacher,a nd I think he really cares about the students, and he makes the problems understandable.
This is the best math teacher I have had by far! He explains things until he is sure everyone gets it, even if it means spending extra time. I felt he was very clear. His calling on people randomly in class was very effective for me because it made me study so I wouldn't feel stupid. Highly recommend
a really good teacher! You'll start loving math because of him.
He doesn't take any BS from the students... gives homework every class never collected it once throught he semester. on;y really does ILC labs and test. grading system is wired, off of points not percentage. Lightens up after the last drop date. really cares about his students, and having them do good. very easy and clear to understand.
He's a little coarse... But you'll notice I didn't mark him down for that. Prof. Taylor believes in his students and that is worth gold. He'll work with you as much as necessary. He will back you up and support your learning to the ends of the earth and he has numerous awards to prove it... Those of us who know him know that he's earned every one.
Pretty good teacher, had him for a summer class so that made the class harder to keep up with. Wouldn't warn friends away from his class. Homework assigned every session, but not collected, regular quizzes and tests.
AMAZING teacher! He wants you to pass this class more than you want to pass this class! He is so helpful and so good at teaching!
Best math teacher at this school by far! I would take this class over again just because he is so great! Mr. Taylor is helpful and makes his class enjoyable! I enjoyed every minute of his class. If you must take math take it with him. It isnt easy, but he wont go on until you get it!
Will always help you if you need it! Do not be afraid to ask questions!!!
Best math teacher I've ever had. Period. I can't even explain how good of a math teacher Mr. Taylor is. If you need to take a course he teaches, take him. His classes fill up quicker than any other math teacher at Las Positas.
Mr.Taylor is the best math teacher i have ever had,... extremely helpfullll. do the homeworks and labs, you will do fine... he is the best, take his class
He is great! Would recommend him to anyone
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. HE IS TERRIBLE AND DOES NOT OFFER HELP TO ALL STUDENTS. HE JUST PICKS THE ONES HE LIKES AND WILL ONLY HELP THEM.
Mr Taylor is really student focused. His Alg. 1 (math 65) class had me very well prepared for Math 55 (Alg. 2) that I took over the summer. I could still hear some of his comments in my head during my summer class! His teaching style is precise and clear, and he involves the class so you're not just sitting there.
Great teacher! assigned a lot of hw but never collected it. His ILC assignments really help you prepare for the tests. Tests are pretty easy if you do all the hw and ILC. Has an odd sense of humor that kept me more entertained than I would expect in a math class. I recommend him!
This is my second semester taking Mr Taylor's math class. He's a great teacher and grades very fairly. He gives some opportunities for extra credit and makes himself pretty accessible if you need help. If you attend the lectures and keep up with the homework, you'll do fine in his class.
he was terrible. went so fast it was not even funny. IF you could get his attention you could slow him down otherwise it was all about FAST FAST FAST. test over ch 4-6 next class he would already be teaching ch 7 before he gave the test on 4-6
Mr. Taylor is really one of the best professors I've ever had. He teaches in a way that everyone can understand. He does go fast but if your paying attention and go to class then its not a problem. I have received over 90% on all tests and am by far not an A student!Hes and amazing teacher! Not much homework required either.
He is a great teacher. This is my second semester with him. Really cares about students and wants to make sure you understand the material. His ILC assigments are great study guides for the tests. Would strongly recommend him!!!!
Mr. Taylor is a wierd dude, but very nice. For me his 65 class was easy, my test scores were 98, 96, 100, 89, and 96. He gives hard exaples in class, and easy questions on the tests. If you suck up, he'll invite you to alpha gamma or whatever its called...
One of the best teachers I've had. Doesn't collect hwk. Do the ilc and hwk and you'll do fine. Entertaining in class. If ur late he will def call on u but he asks every individual in class a question. Offers extra credit. HIghly Recommended!!!!!!!!!!

The best math teacher I've ever had!! He engages the class, makes learning fun, and works everything out on the board with lots of examples. Do the homework, even though he doesn't collect it. I would highly recommend him:)
Mr. Taylor was a pretty cool teacher, he never collected homework (altghough its a good idea to do the homework if you need extra practice). He is also an equal opertunist, so when he calls on you in class, and he will call on you, be sure that you can back up your answer or divert to the person next to you for help.
Mr. Taylor is an okay teacher. He grades very hard and doesn't give you any slack on the points.
Mr. Taylor is an eccentric man who loves what he does. He is a prominant figure at the college and is keen on making sure that his pupils succeed, which in math is not always easy. What I appreciate most from my time with him is that I still remember how to factor, graph, and reduce exponents to simplest terms... Thanks Mr. Taylor! Great teacher!
Great teacher...passionate and really interested in helping you succeed. If you do 65 or 55...take this guy!
fantastic teacher! his tests are easy if you do the ILC correctly, he explains the problems in different ways just to be make you understand them, he is helpful, super fun, nice, and i'm gonna take him for math 55 =)
His teaching style sucks! I would never take another class with this teacher again! He's ignorant and I learned math better from a 3rd grader then from this teacher
Great Teacher! Loved his class. He taught very well, and was very clear in everything he said. Requires no homework and grades amazingly easy. He had two grading curves last semester! I'm taking him again for 55!
his class is all lecture. he spends an hour and a half on 5 problems. His jokes are all the same and annoying. I literally hit my head on the wall during class. and i run out when its over. its the class that totally kills your day.
Great teacher. Easy and clear. He assigns homework but never collects them. Take him. He is a great teacher. He jokes a lot, but after a while he runs out of them and use the same old jokes which are annoying.
He is a great teacher. The tests are simple if you do the math lab assignments (ILCs). He tries to entertain the class with his cheesy humor, but it's better than a teacher who just reads from the books. The class goes by pretty quick when he uses a bunch of examples. He is super helpful! Definitely take him :)
Randy is an excellent teacher. He is hilarious and cares about you learning the material, however he does pick on his students for help to answer board problems. Do the homework assignments (not mandatory) to be successful on tests. Study hard since grade points depends on tests. Don't procrastinate & study, you'll be fine. I was lucky and got an A
I have to say Mr. Taylor has help me understand math more than any other teacher could. As long as you pay attention and complete the ILC assignments and exams you'll pass.
Hes the best math teacher i have ever had! He is the one that made me want to switch my major to math. He does call on students a lot, but he does it to everyone. He usually doesnt collect the math hw. I use to get f's in high school in math and in his Math 55/65 i got 2 B's. His teaching skills (to me) are very understandable and clear
Very clear when he goes over grades. He also grades tests in your favor. Very helpful.
Didn't care for the way he tought his class. He always calls on you to help with problems. I just didn't understand his way of teaching. Homework is not mandatory.
By far the best math teacher I have ever had! He explains the material very well. Even though homework is never collected, do it. It will help with your success. He is so knowledgeable and excited about math. He's kind of goofy. His corny jokes can get repetative but he is deffinetly entertaining. He is awesome! Taking him for 55 too!
He is the best math teacher eve. I actually liked math with him as my teacher.
Spends quality time on each section and does not move too fast. He's clear and consistent with his teaching style. 100% recommend him.
If you want an A in the class do the following. Sit front and center, listen to his lecture, and DO and understand THE MATH LAB ASSIGNMENTS. Also HW is not mandatory which is amazing. He LOVES teaching and genuinely would like to give everyone and A in the class if you put in the effort.
An excellent teacher, VERY willing to help students in need, even eager to do so. He teaches in his own way though, that you'll likely either get or not get. He's definitely not an easy teacher, and he expects you to learn the material well, but he is a great teacher.
He was the best math teacher I have ever had. The only rational one at least. Homework is assigned but not mandatory. He gives you practice exams as labs that are mandatory they contains everything on the actual exams. If you can do this practice exam/lab you will ace the test. Also ask him about the on campus events and scholarships. He is amazing
He is the best math teach I have ever had. He goes over everything very clearly and answers every single question you have. To get an A go to class everyday and ask lots of questions if you don't understand something, he was always happy to help.
Best math teacher I ever had! Mr Taylor is very helpful and wants you to succeed. Take his class! Study the ILC's and you will do fine. There is no need to buy the book you will never use it.
Best Math teacher I've had. He honestly cares about your success & wants you to learn! If you have trouble with a problem he's more than happy to help you with it and he knows how to work the problem.Best of all he explains it in a way that is easy to understand. I've always struggled with math, but I had no problem learning with him as my teacher.
He is a great teacher, very thorough when students need help and gives many examples! He assigns homework but we never turn it in nor checks it.. He likes to joke around and tends to reuse jokes but overall is a very nice and caring teacher that is very helpful! But you always need to show your work!
Mr. Taylor is a hilarious guy and doesn't collect the homework, curves the tests, and drops the lowest score, but his teaching methods can get a little confusing in Trig. Definitely recommend him for Math 65 & 55, but there are better professors for upper-division math.
This is an awesome teacher! I hate math but this guy kept my interest and really engages the classroom. Hes a great teacher, no homework just tests and lectures.
Mr. Taylor is hands down the best math teacher ever. He is so clear on his teachings and is very in class interactive which helps you learn. Interesting to listen to and doesn't make you feel dumb. Took him in the summer it was fast paced but I passed. If you are not good at math I suggest taking him during a full-term but yes you should take him!
This was my third attempt to pass intermediate algebra. His lecture style is awesome. Very helpful, will repeat important concepts, do the homework to practice the concepts. The ILCs are exactly what to expect on his exams. Excellent professor.
This guy isn't the best teacher but isn't the worst. He does teach at a fast pace but if your lost you need to ask questions because he will continue on with the class. The class is all about solving problems and i liked that. He doesn't use the book so don't buy it unless you need to practice! He base his exams off of the ILC Worksheets.
He shows up late and yammers on for ages about club meetings and other nonsense. Also cancels classes a lot, but you're still on the hook for the tests. His loud voice is annoying, and he bothers the students with constant harassment.
He is so overly dramatic about the class. He makes his students feel inferior by trying to drill them. He never makes sense, and he uses a lot of the class time drilling students who actually want to learn who don't know the material. Use Daubenmire for math. He actually wants you to succeed
One of the best teacher on campus. I passed math 45 with a C and got an A in his class. Plus, he never collects hw.
While he is tough he genuinely wants you to succeed! Ask questions and he will make a point to help you out until you understand. Make the effort to try hard in his class and he will remember! Best math teacher I have ever had.
Amazing teacher! ive never had a better math teacher! I wish he was teaching trig! :( you do have to know your math but is very forgiving!
I have never liked math & always struggled with it. In Math55 with Taylor I finally had a math teacher who taught & explained things in way that I understood. He is very helpful, the ILC assignments completely prepare you for the exams, & the lectures are engaging, funny, & easy to grasp. I ended up loving this class & wish he taught Math 40!
At first I couldn't understand his teaching style. He asks the students lots of questions that can make the lectures last a long time. But overall if you review all the study guides and can study on your own, you'll get an easy A.
Show up for class and be ready to participate, he likes to call on people at random. He is very effective with showing different ways of doing problems and is very serious about students reaching out for help in the ILC. I felt he was very fair and genuinely cares about students.
Mr. Taylor is hands down the best math teacher I've taken. He makes math fun and easy (as cheesy as that sounds) and is quite an interesting man. I would HIGHLY recommend him if you've struggled with math in the past (like the rest of us). Do expect a lot of work though. Test aren't easy but fair. Homework is given but for your benefit.
By far the best math teacher I have had. He makes you understand everything so easily and makes the students get involved which really helps coming from a student who barely passes any math. I wish he taught the math classes that I still need to to take! I recommend taking him!!
Hilarious , works with you if you need to take test another day , grade is mainly based by tests
By far the most amazing professor I have had at Las Po. He makes lectures interesting, his tests are based on the ILC assignments that are found in the ILC lab which makes it even easier to get good grades on tests. All around he is great.
Really great professor, really smart and cares about his students. Actually enjoyed his class
I really wanted to like Randy but he was just all over the place. The style of his teaching is very fast paced so if you find that math is hard for you this may not be the best professor. He does not review before tests and goes onto more chapters even though we will have a test at the next class meeting. It is hard to keep up in this class
He was/is a GREAT teacher! Before moving on to a new section, he'd ask if everyone understood the material before he continued.
Great teacher for trigonometry, all you have to do to get an A in the class is just show up and take notes on the lecture. Even on the tests, he's very leniant and shows you how to do the problems the correct way if you got them wrong and is not a hard grader. Would definitely take him again for another course.
He's a great professor who clearly cares about his students. He makes it a point to get everyone to participate in class, but does so in a respectful and often funny manner. He sets up clear expectations for what the test will be like. He understands what it's like being a student, and I really respect that.
I loved his class a lot. He makes a lot of funny jokes while teaching you math. He will walk around the class and make sure to get everyone to participate. He will not discourage you if you do not know the answer and understands really well what it's like to be a student.
I tried to like him. One thing I didn't like was the optional homework; he said it might be extra credit, but that never happened. He also doesn't use Canvas. Grades are not accessible unless asked. The class was tough, lecture after lecture with little practice, unlike other math classes I've taken. Though he does grade exams carefully.
