I took Prof Villegas for POLS 005 and he was amazing! I usually HATE politics because everyone justs wants to argue. But he made the class fun and interesting especially with the election. I LOVED the memes and gifs! Study guides and discussion boards big part of your grade, but he also offers tons of extra credit. Easy pass if you do the work.

Best professor I've had so far! He seems really young but I can't tell since we were virtual. Definitly knows his stuff though and he has done a lot. He doesnt care if u are Liberal or conservative but u do have to participate in discussions and use the book. He really wants everyone to pass and accepts late work but you have to email him first

Out of all my professors, Prof Villegas was one of the only ones who looked like they ACTUALLY knew how to use CANVAS online. Super structured, but the work was doable. No live zoom but was pretty easy to reach in office hours. I got COVID and he worked with me to all my stuff in. Super nice guy and he really cares about students wellbeing.

Super intelligent and funny professor. He does lecture a lot, but he keeps it interesting with memes and recent examples. Lots of Extra Credit, but you do need the book for this class. I'm not really political but he made it interesting

Prof Villegas is one of the best professors I've had. His grading rubric is very clear & concise! And he is very approachable, so don't be afraid to ask him questions if you need to! The weekly lectures are long, but useful considering the reading is a lot & it basically summarizes it up for you. I've learned a lot this semester. 100% recommend :)

If Im gonna be honest, I was a little nervous to receive a strict, hard professor for political science, but instead I got a professor that is kind and respectful. Id highly recommend new students to take this class with him. I also really liked the memes that were used. Made the course more enjoyable than just a blank page/slideshow of words.

I loved taking his class, Proffesor Villegas, provided really great and helpful feedback. He gave lots of extra credit oppprtunities. I recommend his course, its well thought and organized. He would communicate with us constantly, and lastly was always there in case anyone was struggling via office hours. One of the best Proffesor's.

I'm glad I had Professor Villegas for this course, since everything was very clear, from the lectures to the homework criteria. The feedback on assignments helped me do better on the next ones too. He's also really nice and respectful, willing to work with everyone who needs it and gives extra credit opportunities.

Keep up with everything and you will do great. The class is laid out so it is very easy to follow and there are only 2 tests. Also if you are unhappy with your grade, messaging the Professor to pinpoint any issues that need to be fixed for further assignments is necessary.

I took his course online this summer, it was a lot of work, but it was way easier than I expected. I thought politics would be super hard, but he made it easy to understand and interesting. He was also very easy to get back to, offered plenty of extra credit, and had interesting lectures.

Professor Villegas is an amazing professor, he tries to inspire everyone in the class whether Political Science if your major or not. He shows you how important your voice is in matters happening all around us. I would take another class with him, he is also super understanding of any situation that might come up. Professor Villegas was by far my favorite professor at COS. He made learning about Poli Sci really entertaining and easy to understand. There is a lot of opportunity for extra credit also. His online lectures were great. and the SI sessions via zoom with his TA were so helpful. Book is online free. Participate in discussions and quizzes every week

Really chill, understanding, easy to get in contact with if you need any help, and his video lectures are entertaining (he understands memes!!!). There were many extra credit opportunities as well. Just watch the lectures, do the reading, take a quiz, and participate in the weekly discussion boards (these count as your attendance). TAKE HIS CLASS!

Prof Villegas is great. Prof Villegas records all of his lectures, provides an audio copy and then a written lecture copy so that it is accessible in all forms for all types of students and all different needs. Prof Villegas is relevant and current with his information and teaching style. He stays on topic and unbiased and educational. Great class.

Professor Villegas is super accessible aside from his lectures; he responds within 48 hours of emailing him, was accomodating to issues I was having during the semester when it came to getting assignments turned in. It was an online class, attendance was via a discussion post that is mandatory and affects grade. I enjoyed his class.

Professor Villegas is by far the best professor I have ever had. He assigns work twice a week, very efficient. If you dont know much about politics, his lectures are very useful and easy to understand. I was intimidated by taking this course at first because Im not much into politics, but he made everything understandable.

Professor Villegas is a great prof. Every Saturday, we a had a discussion post on different topics where we had to answer questions he listed. On Mondays, we had a quiz of 8-10 questions on the topic and a response comment to one of our peers. His lectures were very detailed. He made this class a great experience! 100% recommend!!!

I took a summer school course, so it was heavy but doable! Overall very Great class to take 10/10, Professor Villegas allowed us many extra credit points outside of what was due. 4/10 difficulty. If you can commit to the work it is easy! Many outside resources and help are provided with this course as well.

This was a 4-week course. You go through 17 chapters, basically going through a chapter a day. You do your initial comment, a response, and a 10-question quiz every day. There were 2, 2-3 page memos that had to be done. A midterm and a final. Seems like a lot but everything goes by quickly. Professor Villegas has great lectures!

Randy Villegas is a very easy-going professor. Advice: Watch the lectures, take notes, read each chapter, and participate in discussion boards, you will be successful. I do not recommend procrastinating, start on the work early! There are two political analysis memo papers for this course, which are not very difficult. Attend SI sessions!!

Adding on to the other positive ratings for this professor since theres literally nothing bad to criticize him for! I took his POLS online class and learned so much! He cares for his students and shows the importance for young generations to engage in politics. Being someone who had little interest in politics, Mr. Villegas convinced me otherwise!

I would be more than happy to take one of his classes again. He is an amazing professor and is a breath of fresh air compared to other professors I've taken in the past. He is funny, friendly, and inspirational. His lectures are extremely detailed and easy to absorb. I had fun taking this course.

He always had great memes and is extremely understanding about any sitution. He provides an outline and naritive for all of his lectures which is extremely helpful especially fro mid terms or finals. I would take him again and would suggest others do as well

The only complaint I have is that he does not allow outside resources (we have to use either the textbook, lectures, or something given to us to support our opinion). I understand this decision because it makes it easier for everyone, but I think political science should also teach people how to research. He also uses memes a lot so watch out ;)

I really liked professor Villegas. Good lectures (with transcripts!) and a nice variety of assignments, from essays and tests to personal opinion discussions. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. Only complaint would be the small discussion groups (5) and having to reply to people who don't give adequate responses on their posts.

Material is explained very well in lectures (he also provides narrative). Gives tons of extra credit opportunities and he is super flexible about deadlines if you communicate with him- very understanding of parent and working students. He does require a textbook but it's free! and the memes are great. Overall great professor.

I took this class fall 2022. I really liked Dr. Villegas. He shows that he cares about his students in so many ways. If you do not understand what he is talking about, he is more than happy to rephrase it to make you understand.

Professor Villegas is a great instructor hands down! His lectures are done in a way that is easy to understand and his PowerPoints are also available to view as he lectures, making it easy to follow along. FYI he does take attendance and it is a small percentage of your grade at the end. If you miss a lot or are late it will effect you.

He will work with you to get you ahead in his class.

This online course was free and the professor provided us online textbooks to read/ listen to. There's lecture videos to watch along with lecture notes to take. I heavily recommend taking notes because the lecture notes can be used for quizzes and big exams. This professor is really understanding, just make sure to communicate.

There are class debates where everyone participates to receive credit but they're very easy.

Very good professor. He is very knowledgeable and prepares you well for the quizzes and exams. Most of the exam questions are clear and understandable and easy to remember if you watch the lesson slide shows that he has prepared and read the textbook/take notes.

This teacher has future work posted, a lecture a day along with a discussion and quiz! Its a lot easier than it seemed at first and teacher is extremely caring going as far as reopening assignments for me when I was unable to submit. He not only cares for us learning but also cares for our education. If you are motivated enough you'll be fine
