Worst teacher I've ever had. The homework was done through mystatlab, which the teacher never prepared us for. She would say something, then homework would tell us otherwise. She would not teach us correctly, and often times we would spend time together after class searching youtube to find the correct way to perform the homework. dont take her!
Get ready to spend several hours a day reviewing what was taught in class, because she cant teach you the correct way. The book says something different than she does, then she wont admit she was wrong. Stay away from this teacher, she doesn't understand how to keep class morale up, and she will insult your intelligence in class if you dont do well
Stat is a hard class, be ready to work hard. It is very time consuming, but she makes it clear and is always available to answer any question via email. She is super willing to help using all materials and special notes, and spending extra time after classes for tutoring. She wants you to succeed. A great teacher with lots of knowledge to share.
This a very good professor for statistics. To begin with, math is pretty tough, but the professor makes it very clear during her lectures what you will see during homework and exams. If you do not understand something in the class send her an email or print the question to bring for class and she will clarify it for you so you can understand it.
Listen, Math is hard, and Statistics is harder, but if you show up and participate in class. Be engaged in what is going on, and ask questions when you don't understand, statistics is still hard, but this teacher helps you when you need it. Overall a great professor that isn't about to let people fail her class that want to pass.
She is very patient, and is willing to help her students succeed.
Rania lectures well, and provides many additional learning resources to help you understand the fundamentals of the class. She has always been willing to go into further detail after the class if you have additional questions. This class requires allot of work, and nothing will be handed to you. If you put in the time she will help you succeed.
Rania is a wonderful math professor. The course has a lot of material to cover, Rania makes learning the material easy. Lecture notes are provided the day before class so you can review and prepare. Lecture notes are very organized and easy to follow. In class exercises provided to make sure you comprehend the material.
Rania is very helpful and, she always made sure that everyone understood the content. All homework is online with unlimited retakes. She always well prepared for every lecture. The materials are truly the best I've ever seen. I highly recommend her for this class.
She is a great teacher, she does a great job explaining the material and really does care about her students. She does a lot of efforts to make you understand. If you feel like she isn't perfect teacher, it's because you aren't studying or doing the homework to learn the material. You get out of it what you put in. Study well!
I think she has been very helpful throughout this course. She goes the extra mile to breakdown each chapter into her own notes and she also gives tons of practice work for us to try and do at home. She cares about her students doing good in a course that is so hard. She's a wonderful teacher!
Homework is done through MyStatLab, and she was very gracious with the due dates. Her lectures started getting stronger by the end of the semester, and she would provide examples that matched her quizzes and tests to help us prepare. She created notes for each class and ensured every student understood. There is room to improve but it wasn't awful!
Rania, really cares about her students. She wants them to learn and understand the material. She goes out of her way to work with the specific needs of her students individually.
Starting out it was hard. But, as the semester went on and going to class, having an amazing professor who was willing to go over the concept more than once and having handouts to help practice and better undersand the key concepts, I was able to finally feel comfortable and confident in this course.
This lady doesn't speak English super fluently. Not that it's her fault or anything but it was kinda hard to understand a lot of the concepts she was trying to get across. Honestly the hardest class I've ever taken because of the language barrier and the CONSTANT stream of homework.
Even though it is a difficult subject at points, she gives amazing feedback and is able to explain the subject she is teaching in a very easy manner. I always hated and never fully understood math but with her lectures and notes, she made it quite simple to study and learn the subject! If I could I would take every math class from her!
Professor Shalabi is fantastic! She cares about her student success. During her lectures she really explains the material and concepts until the class understands. Statistics isn't easy in general but She does everything she can to help you. Her background is in statistics so she gets how to make it relevant. I would recommend her to my friends!
She does a good job explaining the material in class, and gives plenty of examples.
She has a thick egyptian accent, which I didn't have an issue with, but if you struggle understanding accents, I would recommend someone else. She is really nice & pretty flexible with assignments & due dates. Also if you feel lost in class, the videos on the homework are always a big help! She wants you to succeed, so just communicate with her!
Would not recommend anyone take this class if you actually want to pass. There's a huge language barrier and it is difficult to understand her. On top of that when you ask her to repeat something or that you need clarification she brushes you off like she can't believe you don't understand the lesson. Worst class I have ever taken.
Professor Shalabi is great! She responds quickly to your questions and is willing to help in anyways she can. She is more than willing to give you a little more time on HWK if you need it. There are 5 Exams including the final and a couple quizzes I would recommend her to anyone! Good luck in into to stats!
Professor Shalabi is a great teacher, she teaches very good & is willing to help out when someone needs extra help. I would ask questions and she kindly went through it with me. Unfortunately, due to work I couldnt show up to class for the last couple of weeks but she provided with summaries with what they discussed in class. E.G.
The class like all real classes requires much effort but Rania is very much there ready to help. She knows the material very well and will boil it down into laymens terms for the class to help grasp the topics. She actively cares about the students, if they are learning the material and desperately wants to know how she can help every student.
Bottom line she wants you to understand the material. She has an accent and this can make things harder for some students. But she will explain things again if you do not get it. Do not be afraid to email or ask questions in class. Bring a desire to learn the material to class with you and you will do well.
Dr. Shalabi is an incredible professor. She is intelligent, approachable, very thorough throughout her lectures and her lecture notes are super detailed and easy to follow. Dr Shalabi does a great job teaching the material on quizzes and tests and she genuinely cares about your success in her class. I highly recommend taking this course w/her.
Rania is a great teacher. Yes she has an accent, but you can still understand her perfectly! She asks multiple questions to make sure the class is following along. Stats is a hard class. There is lots of information and homework. However, Rania is willing to help wherever she can. My only complaint is that she does not give enough time for tests.
As another student noted, Rania gives a lecture before tests which means there is less time for tests and quizzes. Beyond that her class is awesome. She makes sure her students understand what's going on. Occasionally she tries to get through all the material really fast making it hard to understand, but she is available outside of class to help.
She is an excellent teacher. She offers lecture notes, in-class activities, and step by step knowledge of use of technology, which was very useful. She is passionate, caring, and willing to help her students. Statistics is never easy, but she makes it doable for you. Do your homework and study diligently, you will pass the class.
Statistics is a tough subject, so this class definitely hasn't been easy. However, Professor Shalabi has made getting a good grade in this course totally doable. She is passionate about the subject and genuinely cares about each of her students. She is great at explaining things clearly and is always available to answer questions.
This has been a very tough class, because you are learning a lot of concepts in a really short amount of time so it can make it quite overwhelming. Professor Shalabi provides plenty of extra practice packets besides from the homework for you to do together and on your own. She is always willing to help if you don't understand something.
I took the MATH 1040 help course (1048), she was a little difficult to understand, she rushed really quickly and it was hard to catch everything. But she knew the material really well and was super great with helping with calculator shortcuts.
Tells you exactly what you need to know! She is amazing teacher, makes sure everyone understands the material and is very caring. I definitely recommend her.
Rania uses the online textbook and videos from Open Math for her lectures. She follows the text book for examples during lectures. Occasionally she will provide additional handouts to supplement her lectures. She is flexible with deadlines and will work with your schedule if you communicate with her. She does not provide handouts for test prep.
Rania is super flexible with homework and projects! She always says that things are due, but yet she never closes the modules so you are able to go back through and finish homework. You will need to spend some time going over the material just like any other class but I definitely recommend taking this class with her.
Dr. Shalabi is energetic and enthusiastic about your leaning. She makes sure you understand before she moves on. This class was very helpful & I'm grateful for her as a teacher. She is very engaging & its clear that she knows Sataisics & is incredibly smart.
Dr. Shalabi (she has a Ph. D. in statistics) was a fantastic prof for the stats companion course. The course itself was limited in time, she used every minute and often would stay 10+ minutes after class to finish covering material. She emphazises from day one that she will not move on until everyone understands the topic. ATTENDANCE is your grade.
Professor Shalabi believe in her students and makes sure that all of them anderstand the material. She is focus on the main ideas/ bases to build up more ideas. She creates an environment of learning by asking questions to all of the students to make sure we are all in the same page. I love that she is focus on the students to pass test well.
Stats is gonna be hard but Pro. Shalabi makes sure you have to concepts down to get you through it. she shows you how to use the Calculator and would allow us extra time on HMW if you needed it. Best to speak up in class there are Extra Points. No book need. Uses lecture notes and Person online HMW. I would never take Stat on line BTW. Recommend.
Professor Shalabi was absolutely amazing ! She was understanding about HW and always gave the class extra time to make up the work. Her teaching method was great and affective. She really cared about her students success and helped any way she could. I would take her again and again !
Dr. Shalabi is the most qualified teacher for this course. She's energetic and passionate in her teaching . Statistics is a hard course to be honest but it is possible to do well just as long as you work hard and give your best. It's worth it. Dr. Shalabi seemed tough but actually nice inside. She is considerate. Communicate with her she's fine..

If you have a hard time with Math, I would not recommend this professor. She's great to show you how to use the calculator for the answer but not to actually do the problems by hand which is awful on exams when you have to show work. Hard to understand sometimes being from out of states.
Prof. Shalabi goes really fast in her lecutres and so if you need slower step by step for problems in math this proff won't work out for you. Also, the homework is different from the tests and she makes you interpret problems that she never explained how to do. She is a nice person, It didn't work for me though with her teaching style.
Dr. Shalabi cares about students & explains in different ways until we understand concepts well. She gives multiple chances to complete assignments. She's readily available through email and encourages questions. You could get by without a textbook because of her awesome online notes. She learned my name quickly and constantly encouraged me.
Dr. Shalabi is an excellent teacher that gives good examples of the content that help elaborate on the subject. She is friendly, helpful, and gives sincere effort on behalf of her students to help them succeed. She explains the material well and teaches with passion. I would recommend her to any student who has a sincere desire to learn.
SHE IS VERY LAID BACK AS TO WHEN YOU HAVE TO TURN IN ONLINE WORK. THE TESTS YOU TAKE IN CLASS THAT COUNT FOR MAJORITY OF YOUR GRADE ARE AWFUL. SHE GRADES VERY HARD, 0 POINTS FOR EFFORT AND EACH QUESTION IS WORTH 10 POINTS. VERY EASY TO FAIL HER TESTS, AND SHE DOESNT EXPLAIN ANYTHING. IF YOU ARE ALREADY GREAT AT MATH TAKE HER, IF YOU ARE NOT- DONT!
Great professor when it comes to caring about your success. Makes you get involved in class and make sure that your understand concepts. Also is very flexible when setting up exam days and homework. Exams are very heavily graded and easy to be successful at if prepared for them. would highly recommend taking this class from Professor Shalabi
Goes fast and seems to get irritated when you don't understand the problem but her lecture notes are very organized and easy to follow. Do not miss a class and participate because she gives extra points at the end of the semester for those who spoke up during her lectures. Pearson online homework which was $110.
This class was hard. Not the teacher, the class in general. Statistics is hard. I showed up every day and went to a review before each midterm and before the final. I got an A-. I am not a math person, so I know anyone can pass this class if they plan to study and do the work. She is a very fair teacher and super flexible with homework.
I had to take this class and was scared. Dr. Shalabi is nice, flexible and understanding. Do not miss class, unless if you are a math wizard. You must meet Dr. Shalabi half way and communicate. Once you do understand the material, it is not so bad. You have to pass the final or else you fail the whole class so be sure to STUDY. IT IS ON YOU.
Professor Shalabi is an incredibly capable teacher. I wish more that I had the chance to see her in her true element.
I took this class with a deep understanding of basic math, but she is severely lacking in the teaching aspect of her job. The only reason I have given her 2/5 is due to her extreme flexibility on assignments, besides that she teachers far too fast and isnt clear on anything. The students had to come up and teach at some point. Shes Condescending
She was the best math teacher that I have ever had! There was a lot of homework but as long as you stayed on top of your assignments the course was not too bad. She was very caring and set the class up for success. She is always willing to answer questions and will answer right back when you email her.
She is a great math teacher! Lectures arent mandatory and video tutorials are posted for each lesson but I recommend going to class because her teaching is very easy to understand. Shes a very caring teacher, will always extend the homework if you ask. She genuinely cares for her students. Exams are fair and she will give you any points possible.
Professor Rania Shalabi was great. She did a really good job explaining the concepts. She was super accommodating with homework, maybe a little too much, but that's good if you're a procrastinator like me. She was respectful, kind, warm, caring, and encouraging. I wouldn't hesitate to register with her for another class. Thanks Professor!
Amazing professor would recommend to all
Professor Shalabi lectures very well and makes sure that each and every one of her students understands before moving on. Any time I have needed to contact her via email, she responds that same day and helps me in every way she can. If I get the chance, I will definitely take one of her courses again.
She's an excellent and committed instructor. Always there to help you understand if you don't get it. Would take her course again.
Dr. Shalabi loves her subject, & yet is understanding to those of us without a strong math background. Her class is set up with many opportunities to acquire points that are not on the exam. This means there is a lot of work to do outside of class, but I found that doing this extra work has helped me to understand the material better.
Dr. Shalabi really cares for her students success. I have always hated stats but she made it fun and understandable.
Very good at explaining the things you might get confused on while taking this course.
She has been an amazing professor. I was really afraid of taking Math since I hadn't in many years and she has been very caring and considerate of everyone's feelings and understanding about math. She has been there for us since day 1. She is always making sure we understand and offering her help any time we need it. I feel grateful she is my prof
It's one of my first online classes and I was worried about being unable to keep up but Shalabi has made her class very accessible and easy to follow even in this confusing time. Her broadcasts are available at alt times making it easy to schedule around. She's very good at explaining with examples and makes sure everyone is following. Great class!
Professor Shalabi is one of those professors I wish I could take all my classes with. I had some rough patches during the semester and she was kind enough to grant me extra time for assignments, to at east ensure that I am understanding the material. She always welcomes questions and appreciates mistakes as teaching and learning moments.
Rania has been wonderful. She replies very quickly to messages and is very understanding and willing to help, which is very much appreciated during the pandemic and online learning. She provides a lot of materials for you to understand the work to the best of your ability and is happy to help along the way.
Ms. Shalabi is very understanding and very helpful. Her lessons are very well taught she makes sure all her students are following along and make sure they understand the material. I would recommend taking her online class.
Dr. Shalabi is very smart and probably would have been a great professor if I was able to get past the yelling and belittling when anyone had questions or didn't understand. It seems that her 1010 classes get better ratings, so I'm not sure if the nature 1030/1040 is just different.. She went way too fast and it was hard to read her writing/work.
Professor Shalabi is very kind and wants to give every student equal opportunities to learn and works with them until they understand. She is patient and explains things well. She is also funny and has a fun relationship with her students.
Professor Shalabi moves quickly through material, so you really have to be attentive during class. She's very matter-of-fact when giving corrections, and adept at quickly identifying where the mistakes are in your work. She is a great choice if you can't stand slow lectures. In my online class, we usually finished early.
I do not understand why she has such high reviews on rate my professor. She was literally the worst professor I have EVER had in my life. The whole class struggled so much and half the class ended up failing the class. The only reason I passed this class is because I worked my butt off and learned all the material on my own.
The materials used in the class were helpful in understanding the concepts. The instructor was accessible and willing to help and answer questions. There is a lot of homework in this class so it's easy to fall behind. If you stay caught up and put effort in, this class is "easy" to pass.
her teaching style isnt great, i find there to be a lot of difficulties understanding basic concepts when i try learning them through the lecture, for every test I've had to go find a tutor or friend to explain me what I'm doing, on top of this stat is just a really hard class especially for non math gifted people like myself, i worked really hard
I do not recommend this professor at all. I was not able to understand many of the concepts or what she was explaining. We would go over the lecture notes and not actually learn the math which when it came to the homework that was very hard. I usually do very well at math but because of the way she explained it I was not able to understand.
Dr. Shalabi is a very kind person, personally, I struggle with math quite a bit, and the deadlines are very strict in her class. You have to put in extra time and effort with her class. I spent a lot of time doing tutoring and always used up my 8hrs/month. If you have other priorities outside of school, I would suggest another more flexible prof.
She's a great professor. She responds super quickly to emails outside of class. She gives some extra credit at the end of the semester based on your participation throughout the course. She is super flexible with homework assignments. If you ask for help or need extra time, she pretty much always accommodates. Very thorough lectures.
She is in my opinion an excellent professional, and also a very human person wputs herself in the position of the student many times. She helps students carry out their own discipline, advises and encourages them in different ways. say about her I think She deserves all the credits of recognition for her work and dedication.
Dr. Shalabi stepped into our class and is very caring, she cares about teaching and helping you understand the subject. There was a lot of homework on canvas, but it was very helpful to take her lecture and then go into the homework and to actually understand the math. I would recommend to take her class!
She was an amazing professor, always willing to help her students. Also very understanding and will help you achieve the grade you desire. Her lectures were easy to understand and will explain further if needed.
Dr. Shalabi is a great professor. She is thorough in her lectures and has everyone participate to check for understanding. She responds quickly to emails outside of class, is flexible with homework assignment due dates, and gives extra credit at the end of the semester. You can tell that she genuinely cares about her students' success.
I loved Math 1050 with Dr. Shalabi. She took time to explain the concepts and made sure we understood before moving onto the next subject. She was very fair in her grading and kept us up to date with deadlines for homework, quizzes and tests. She also stayed late when we needed help. As long as you do the work, you will do well in her class.
This class was AWFUL! Prof. does not help you at all, email responses are 1 word answers, test questions are very hard. Prepare to be doing more homework for this class than your entire college career. I worked very hard in this class and barely got by with a C. Final, you must get 60% or higher on to pass with a D! No curve at all. NEVER RECOMMEND
Rania Shalabi is great! She truly cares about her students and will return emails quickly. She communicates what is happening in class very well. She is understanding if you need to ask for an extension on assignments as long as you have a valid reason. She prepares her students well for tests. I have enjoyed learning statistics with her.
It was the first class I took in America. 990 math was easier than I expected. The homework was too much, but it helped to understand the subject. The professor was friendly and interested. She knew very well who understood and did not understand the subject.
My 2nd go at Stats and during the shorter sem. months too! Great job of walking us through the material/giving time for us to respond/ask questions. Her examples are what helped me finally understand the material! Cares about her students/motivated us to stay if we needed help with the chapter/homework. recommend and take again! word counts r dumb.
I was not excited to take Math 1045, but Professor Shalabi was very helpful in helping me to understand the content. My grade steadily improved throughout the semester, and my confidence in Stats definitely grew as well. I felt comfortable being vocal and asking questions in class, and she encourages participation. She was supportive and caring!
Professor Rania is a very kind person, and she very deeply cares about her students and their success, She will work with you, However, with that being said she also kinda has one way of teaching and it isn't always clear. For me, she moved too fast in her teaching, and when I would ask questions she would make me feel kinda silly for asking them.
Mrs. Shalabi was an amazing teacher. Went into this semester kind of stressing about taking a math course because I hadn't taken one in awhile. The zoom meeting were very comprehensive and easy to learn from. There is also many videos provided that help with problems if you find yourself stuck.
It was interesting to have her as a teacher, English is not her first language so there were some things here or there that made understanding certain concepts difficult. I think the main thing that ruined me wanting to take a class from her again was her preparedness. As well she only shows one way to do certain problems which can be hard.
I loved Math 1045 with Rania! easy homeworks and it was very easy to understand her lectures, love her teaching style and always willing to help after class if you have any questions with the terms.
Seems to care and makes herself available for questions Gives helpful reviews before tests Values participation from everyone during class lectures Can come across as a bit strict
Mrs. Shalabi was an amazing teacher. I like her teaching style. she is always ready to help her student. Went into this semester kind of stressing about taking a math course because I have an early prenatal, and I was feeling tired sometime this semester. but I was great in her class to participate in class.
I have enjoyed taking statistics with Rania; I am understanding the concepts well and doing better than I had imagined. Exams are consistent with the material in class, and she gives you a very helpful study guide and a review beforehand. I have found that the homework and the amount of lecture time have prepared me very well for exams.
Rania is a nice person and maybe a good teacher for some. But she's definitely not a "one-size-fits-all". As someone with ADD, she was very quick paced during lectures. You can't hand anything in late. And the videos she provided were SUPER hard to follow. A bit out of touch with how other people's brains work. Take her class at your own risk.
I loved Professor Shalabi for 1050, and plan to take her for 1040 as well! She explains topics very well, and is always willing to answer questions and help you to further understand topics. She makes an effort for her students to understand and apply what they are learning rather than letting you figure it out for yourself. I highly recommend!
The way she teaches is often difficult to follow. Although she is very kind and willing to help, she does not do the best job of explaining math.
Great class. She will explain anything you don't understand, easy to reach through canvas, uses helpful packets for modules. She cares a lot about you succeeding and learning and will help you if you don't understand anything.
Rania Shalabi is a really good teacher. I tend to struggle with Math so I needed someone who will explain it well enough for me to understand and she did just that. All the assignments are very helpful and easy to understand, the lectures in class come with good feedback, and she will get back to you if you need help as soon as possible.
She makes sure you understand and takes the time to explain if you dont
Excellent teacher and always willing to help. If your struggling she and the teachers assistant will do whatever they can to help you. Highly recommend.
Math 1010 is not a hard class and somehow she made it impossible. She is extremely unorganized and very hard to follow in lectures as she has an accent and teachers very fast. She always asks for questions and then responds to people asking questions in a very demeaning way. She was late almost everyday and always went over the class period.
If it's been a while since your last math class, please do yourself a favor and take another professor's class. She makes easy concepts impossible. She teaches very quickly, you'll get behind if you take notes. She is however a very understanding grader.
She is not understanding and she goes to fast, she doesn't really care about their students please don't take this class shes is the worst.
She is an amazing professor. She does a great job teaching the material and she genuinely cares about her students. I highly recommend taking her for your math class.
I haven't done Math for many years, and she made me able to learn it all over again. her class was very fun, and she makes sure to keep the students engaged. There are plenty of times where the class can all laugh as the teacher is very fun. Biggest positive for me is how caring she is and makes sure the students come first!
Professor Shalabi has a very thick Egyptian accent that made it difficult at times to follow along in the lecture. As a result, getting confused on certain topics was common, but she was willing to work with you outside of class hours to go over the information. She is very kind and enjoys teaching.
She is a very smart and caring professor. Math is not easy but if you reach out to her with the problems you have she won't disappoint you. I was so happy to have her as my teacher.
Prof. Shalabi is hit or miss - good for some but not all. Her lectures can be fast-paced, and she's strict on late work. The class is challenging, but unstuck AI helped me prep for exams.
Thanks to her clear and detailed explanations, I was able to understand even complex topics. She is very supportive and always available to help. She regularly checks in to make sure everyone is on the same page, and adjusts her pace accordingly. I personally never had any problems understanding her pronunciation, even as an international student.
I initially chose this class because it worked best with my schedule, but I ended up being genuinely glad I did. Professor Shalabi is a great teacher! She's knowledgeable, engaging, and creates a really supportive learning environment. I've really enjoyed my time in her class.
I failed business calculus the first semester at the University of Utah when I had hunter simper, the worst and hardest professor I had ever had. The I took this class and was actually able to thrive. It is reasonably hard but what can you expect with calculus, not an easy way out but she is a great teach and not too much homework.
She is a great teacher who cares about the students and wants them to do well. She is willing to help and go over things you don't understand.
Make sure you participate or they get upset. If you don't do the math the exact way you get taught in class it will be marked wrong.
You must follow the way she teaches math; otherwise, it'll be counted as wrong. The test is 45% of your grade, so study as much as you can. She will help you understand the material, and she is also very engaging. I guarantee you, she is very passionate.
She explains the material very well. The course is chock full of many different concepts and Professor Shalabi was great at managing time and focusing on the concepts which most people struggled with.
