A bit tough, and gave a very heavy workload, but I learned a lot and would recommend him.

This is a hard class. But he is a good teacher and very helpful. Make sure you attend his classes, read book, do all of HW problem, and do them again .

Fall 2007. Very passionate teacher. Enunciates for clarity to compensate for his accent. Grade - 4 best of 5 quizzes (50%) and final (50%). Very easy quizzes and a tricky & challenging finals. You need to practice end of chapter problems to get good grades. Very reasonable grading. Curved finals by adding 5 points. AND curved final letter grades.

He is a very nice teacher. Perfectly prepared for the class. Happy to answer any question raised in the class. His notes are self explanatory and very good guidance for the exam. But the most important thing about his is he can make you an expert in finance basic knowledge. I am extremely pleased with his class and would love to sit in his lecture

Quite disturbed by comments I see by others. If you want to learn and work hard for your grade, he is the professor for you. If there is unwillingness to put the necessary amount of work for a MASTER'S degree, rethink the major. I have never met a professor who will not continue his lecture unless questions are asked.

YOU NEED TO STUDY AND DO YOUR HW. STUDY THE INCLASS NOTE AND REDO SAMPLE PROBLEMS. BEST 4OF5 QUIZES COUNT. ITS A MBA COURSE SO DO THE WORK. EXAM WAS HARD BUT HE CURVES.

The class isn't difficult if you come to lectures. the professor is great,very passionate and makes everything very very very clear. "A" is very possible. If you study and come to lectures it is an easy A. Loved this class.

Dr. D'Mello is a very good instructor. Do the homework and you will be fine. This course moves very fast so you have to keep up. This guy goes out of his way to make sure students understand. he has a sense of humor and is passionate about what he does!!

He is a great professor. All of the people who complained in class were the ones who did not show up on a regular basis. He takes a great interest in his students, and he is always available to help when you ask. He always gives the opportunity to student to ask questions and his teaching style is very easy to understand.

This 7-week class is intense so you absolutely must do the assigned problems after the lectures. If you can get through the intermediate problems you should be fine. He does add points to tests if necessary. He literally begs for questions so don't hesitate to ask. He could be more responsive to e-mails however. Is this clear guys? Guys? Awesome.

Fairly easy class. Pay attention, do all the homework, take good notes, and you'll do fine. He makes sure students understand the work before moving on. Took BA7020 in the next semester, and got A in that class too.

Straightforward class. Prof. does a good job to keep you interested for 2 hours. Online assignments though not always helpful for midterm/final are 30% of your grade and pretty easy to get 100% on them. Buy the BAII Plus Professional, the non-professional gets you through part of the class but makes a few things more challenging.

Honestly finance is just a difficult subject. He does his best to explain everything and his slides are the best. Slides are very detailed and if you follow over them and practice the problems in his slides you will do well. He truly loves what he does and is very helpful.

Very organized professor, his power pointe slides are very helpful. He posts his lectures on Blackboard so attendance is not mandatory. He curved our grades at the end of the semester. The only problem is the final exam, it is so tough. I recommend him

Great teacher! Knows his material and tests on the powerpoint lectures he gives. Must attend class to ease the test. I never opened the chapters other than the homework problems at the end. PRACTICE these as they are vey helpful and he uses similar problems on the tests. 1 midterm 1 final which was pretty difficult. Wiley Plus assignments.

Dr. D'Mello is a very good professor. It is important to pay attention to the examples he gives in class and watch the lecture over again before the final. The Wiley plus assignments are much easier than the exam. Use the problems in the book, especially the tougher ones toward end of the chapter. The exams are tricky so take your time.

I'm engineer and this was my first finance course. I payed attention in class, reviewed the slides, solved few problems and sometimes went over the book. To really do well in the course, try to understand the concepts, since it's closed book. The prof. was great. he goes over everything in details, answers all questions and add 3 points in final.

D'mello was great, he is passionate about the subject and tries to get everyone involved, finance is not easy so it takes a bit of effort, but i don't think it would be better with a different professor. Recommend.

Everyone rating harsh probably did not put in the work for this teacher. I did not crack thebook and have no finance experience and aced both tests. Why? Because I studied to the MAX. He literally reads the slides and has long lectures and tests so it is boring. You need to thoroughly understand the material, it is not an easy A. There to help you.

The condensed summer course is very challenging as this class covers a lot of material.I was intimidated by the lengthy presentations for the chapters but used them to my advantage while studying for the exams. This is a MBA class, stop complaining,suck it up, and put in the work needed. Don't blame D'Mello for your laziness.

Summer session is tough due to the amount of material covered in the short time allowed. Dr.D'Mello is thorough in his presentation of the material and encourages questions. Don't miss class!! Yes 3h lectures as written before, yes to the 300+ slides, but you learn a lot and in detail. The exams are very doable when you study. Did online and would prefer that as I can rewind and watch again as some concepts are difficult. Mid-term, final and 5 group cases. I put a lot of work in it but it paid of and so will it for you

This class has a lot of content covered in a short period of time so make sure you go to class/watch lectures. The exams are tough, but D'mello is a fair grader if you demonstrate you understand the concepts taught in class.

I am surprised to see other reviews so low. Professor D'Mello is extremely fair. The class consists of online homework, midterm and final exam. He is very transparent about the exams. Show up, pay attention and do the end of chapter problem sets as practice/studying if you want an easy A. Lecture is long but not his fault its a 3.5 hour class.

Dr. DMello is a great instructor, he gives you all that you will need to understand the the work. Lots of slides but the slides are better than the book and easier to understand.

Ranjan has at least one hundred slides per lecture but he tries to make class fun and encourages questions. He prides himself on making all the slides himself and they are actually quite helpful. If you study what he tells you, you will be fine. No homework, only weekly quizzes and midterm and final so study hard!

Very good professor. Lectures are long, but it was a 3 hour class, so it was expected. Follow the powerpoints, do as many practice problems as you can, and you'll be fine. I would take any class taught by Professor D'Mello again without hesitation.

The course material is VERY difficult, but he tries his best to make it easier to understand. Each chapter lecture has well over 200 slides which seems overwhelming at first, but it's because he shows each problem step-by-step. He builds extra credit into exams and grades very generously. Great professor!

The first 1/2 of the class was repetitive of undergraduate classes I've already taken but it was a good refresher. He goes into detail but he can go pretty quickly so ASK QUESTIONS. He usually great at explaining in more detail although it can come across as being defensive sometimes. Overall a caring prof. He gives lots of hints 4 exams too.

This class was very difficult. I would recommend to read the chapters in the book and do as many problems as possible. Please make sure you also do a couple of the challenge problems because he will put them on the test. Dr. D'Mello really wants students to succeed and if you try your best , he will also help. BA 7020 is a hard class. Professor D'Mello does his absolute best to make sure his students understand everything. He is also empathetic to his students. His slides are very long but they usually have multiple examples of each type of problem. Quizzes are open note. Exams you only get one formula sheet. Exams are very hard but he curved ours.

Lots of slides, but well written and very thorough. You can tell he enjoys teaching. Plenty of examples. I got the book, but it was nowhere near as helpful as his lectures. Don't skip class. He moves fast, but lectures were recorded so you can go back over lecture. You'll work hard but he really wants you to succeed. I'd take any class he teaches.

Im an MBA student with a marketing and management concentration, finance is not my forte but professor DMello made class engaging even during the pandemic. Exams are tough but hes a fair grader and really wants his students to comprehend the course work.

Ranjan is an excellent professor, I would absolutely take him again and highly recommend him to others. He truly cares about his students and his lectures are some of the best in the department. Ranjan genuinely knows the topics taught in his course and has no problem articulating them to his students with clear, real world examples. Take Ranjan!

You can really tell he wants his students to do well. Finance isn't really my thing, so I appreciate him going over multiple examples and using short answer questions on the exams rather than multiple choice. That way you have a chance at some points rather than all or nothing.

Here is a tip for this course, attend lecture. He gives hints as to the types of questions or content that is going to be on quizes and exams. Lots of example questions in the lectures as well. Exams have a built in curve and I think he generally wants his students to do well. His exams are HARD but study for them and you will do well.

Enthusiastic and passionate Professor of Finance. The class has three weights to grading: Quizzes (fairly easy, two attempts). Midterm, and Final (cumulative). He gives hints on what will be on the exams. Fair, but long exam questions. Has 150-200 slides per lecture, but to the student's favor because lots of step-by-step example problems).

Overall, he is a great professor. I assume there are a lot of less favorable reviews because the class is challenging. However, I think learning this material would be way more difficult if not for the professor's lectures. The class is challenging, but the professor is fair. He is passionate about teaching the course and he wants you to excel.

He does seem to care about the success of his students. Won't give you an easy A, but will provide you with what you need to earn one. He'll drop quite a few clues about what to expect on the exams during lectures. Responsive to questions outside of class. Gives a lot of opportunities to get credit by being forgiving with partial credit.

the ppl saying bad things ab him are the students that put in 0 effort and have only 2 brain cells, yes the class is hard but if you put in effort, meet with him outside of class he will help. im not saying he is the best prof but ppl make him out to be the devil, hes a good prof and knowledgeable just study, attend classes and youll be good

When you here, "Hey GUYS," or "Are you with me GUYS," and you might have zoned out or you don't hear anyone else in the class say anything, STOP THIS MAN and ask a question -- even if it's a dumb one. You'll be so much more happy that you did. Not a bad prof. good power point slides, but class is tough you must practice /ask questions. good luck

I think he is one of the best professors I've ever had. It was challenging to just read the textbook and understand, but when you attend his lectures EVERYTHING comes together. I didn't take notes and just listened. Almost everyone who said they didn't understand or didn't like his slides, sat in class and played on their phone the entire 2+ hours.
