Exams consist of up to 25 questions. I had question on a midterm: "give the answer to the problem done in class", not cool. Attendance was mandatory, until he changed his mind two weeks before final. Again, not cool. But sure, take the course, its not that challenging anyways ;-)
In the begining i did not like this man. But he actually cares if you understand and he wants you to pass his class. He grades the tests himself and is an overall nice guy.
Really nice guy. Wants you to do well even though he tries to come off hard-core in the beginning. If you took Calc before, a waste of time, but he tries.
The guys is nice and everything...but he's not a good teacher. he doesnt explain things well at all. discussions are way more useful than lecture. hes flexible about due dates and gives you extra credit work, but that doesnt make up for his lack of teaching skills. he uses the most absurd examples.
He is an ass. Don't take this class with him. Stats is an easy subject with any other teacher, but some how this guy makes it impossible. He is one of the worst teachers i have ever had. Take this class with any one else and youll be fine.
Panth is great but half the people in this class should be in high school. They want answers and can't even think. This is not an easy class but you get a lot out of it if you are the type that wants to realy learn. Want an easy class? Take someone else.
Really nice man who tries to help you as much as possible if you show that you care. However, EXTREMELY hard to follow and understand. The book is even hard to follow. Not an easy class.
I wouldnt recommend taking this class unless you already have some undersanding of the material. He rarely finishes problems on the board and has a extraordinary ability to get the whole class to zone out, when you come to you realize that he has been rambling about the same thing the entire hour.
he is possibly the worst professor i have ever had. Nothing he says makes sense at all. he's pretty much an idiot. don't take this class!
I think he's great. He is the nicest person and he cares and he gives you a second chance. Not many people do that. Not at BU anyways because they just fail you or give you a C-. It is important to go to every lecture and pay attention. The textbook is useless.
I really like this guy. He's funny, and realllly wants you to understand the material, so he will give bonus points if a lot of people are having problems. On tests, he lets you use a page of notes which is very helpful. I would def. recommend taking calculus from him.
Good teacher, fair midterms, more than fair grading policy. Really nice guy, tries extremely hard to get us to understand. Not his fault the class sucks. The TF stunk though. Once again, not his fault. Do not take MA127 if you haven't taken at least BC Calc before.
Yes he's a nice guy, but he is useless as a teacher. While I got an A in the class it is based solely on the fact that I taught myself statistics. There was no median grade. The people who are good at math got A's, the people who struggle with math failed exams. This indicates poor teaching only.
At first I thought that Professor Panth was kind of scary. He shouted a lot and always seemed mad. But as the term progressed, it became very clear that he really cared about us. He was convinced that the class was horrible, and did all kinds of things to improve grades. I think he did great.
Good for students who wanna work hard. Hard work is rewarded, fair professor. Many of the students in his class are crap though. Don't listen to them spouting nonsense. Even if you are a weak student, he would explained the details for you. Panth is someone who truly cares about the student.
He is a good professor, very genuine and willing to help. Grading is Fair, but I suggest you not take this class if you dont have to. The structure of the class is horrible, and you don't end up really reviewing. Take MA 124 or just move on to MA 225
He's a nice guy and all, but he's a horrible teacher. He doesn't even know what he's teaching. Someone else wrote the book so he doesn't use it and it's impossible to teach yourself. Lecture is a waste...he is a waste
He knows the book like the back of his hand, he can recite pages from it like it's his job. He let's you use a "cheat sheet" on tests, if you fail this class, you're less intelligent than a bottle of Aquafina. Just read the book to preview and try to follow in class. He's a real June Bug.
Professor is really cool. Highly recommended over other Calculus teachers. Allows use of calculator and cheat notes in tests (noone else does). You can certainly do well if you had taken calculus before. Otherwise, you must pay attention and review before quizes AND tests. Overall Rating: A
The material is exremely difficult, but he is a good teacher. He tries to give students as much of a boost as he can and he lets you use a cheat sheet. You really do need to come to class and pay attention though if you've never taken calculus before.
I cannot believe he canceled the second to the last class before the final...other than that, he knows his stuff and how to explain. Just don't go ask him after class, in class answer is much better
Panth knows the book like he was born with it. Knows his stuff and tries to simplify it for the students. Fair grading too. The best thing about him is that he really cares about the students and doesn't have an attitude.
teaches by doing examples on the board. not the most effective way of teaching, but the class is still easy to get a good grade in. the structure of the class (or lack thereof) gets really aggravating sometimes, but if you do the homework and pay attention in class you should be fine.
He will explain and re-explain concepts until he is blue in the face so that the entire class knows how to do the problem ... which sucks if you understand it the first time around. However, he lets you use cheat sheets and will give extra points on exams if he finds that everyone got the problem wrong. Go to class, do the homework, you'll be fine.
Hes a nice guy & cares that we learn. Sometimes class isn't structured but if you go to lecture, kinda sorta read and do the homework you can still do well. I am not a math person AT ALL and i got an A. He's fair and he has a good sense of humor. Just dont expect to be ok without going to class cause the book sucks.

Calc II is not that bad. Compared with other calc II profs, Panth is very good. Use of calculator and Equation sheet one exams are good. Exams are based off of problems done in class. Lienent and understands problems of students. Will curve the class if everyone does bad. Cares about the students and wants you to learn. That's why he's a good prof.
So the class is easy, but Panth is a freaking idiot. He discourages people from asking questions because he's too lazy to actually explain a concept thoroughly and corrrectly. Honestly, I could've taught this class better than him. And he claims that he doesn't take off a lot of points for minor mistakes on exams, but he does. No good.
If you're a life sciences major, or someone who doesn't need upper level math take MA122 DO NOT take MA124. Panth is a very good teacher for either class, but he helps out the 122 class more. He can be very clear at time and always tries his best to help the class. The tests are not that hard and you get a CHEAT SHEET, how nice is that.
Great professor, but maybe too easy at times. He'll repeat a subject over and over if you need him too. He is always concerned about whether his students know what is going on. I enjoyed this class even though it was early in the morning. I recommend it, especially if you just need to satisfy a requirement.
The class is pretty easy and you can use a cheat sheet for the exams and attendance at lecture is not required. Panth is a terrible teacher who does encourage questions and appears to hate teaching.
the worst professor i have encountered at bu. if you aren't very good with math, he is absolutely no help. his lectures were rushed and he always seemed unsure. discussion did not help to clarify any questions about lecture, just homework problems.
If you have taken a calculus course before, then take this class, but if you have no prior experience with calculus or if you are not a great math student, do not take his class. He is unclear and is not able to explain well; you will not learn. It's only good if you have taken this before and just need credit for it. Two midterms, one final, wee
Easily the worst professor I've ever had at BU. Not clear at all in lectures, and tests were ridiculous. If not for homework grades and a good TA I wouldn't have gotten a decent grade.
Awesome teacher, good class lectures. If you think you dont do well on tests he gives a lot of points for hw. tests are not that hard but no curve. if you dont like going to lectures dont take this class r ull be screwed. overall good teacher and he is nice...
He is a very good professor .....he has tons and tons of patience...
He is by far the worst professor I have ever had. He cannot explain anythign clearly at all. He jumps from example to example without ever finishing everything and the examples themselves are terrible. The discussion is also worthless.
Great teacher. Tons of patience and very helpful if you go to office hours. Go to lectures because exam questions are similar to questions from class.
Good teacher! Go to all LECs(He gives tips for the exam).Easy exams(Cheat-sheet allowed) Good grade curving.A lot of HW, though you can check it during discussion. One of the HW problems will be on the weekly quiz(during discussion). Sometimes he takes too much time explaining concepts/problems, be patient and you will get a good grade! =D.
Really a very nice guy. If you have not taken calc before the course could be troublesome. The final exam was extremely difficult after I had gotten 95's on the first 2 exams. Homework is a killer. He often has a difficult time explaining concepts. He teaches the easy problems in class and then on hw & the exam it is the most difficult problem
He's great... lots of patience. Explains things well. Doesn't try to trick you on exams. If you go to lecture/do hw, you will prob get an easy A
Great teacher. Always go to lecture even if you feel like it's pointless, it helps on the exams. Exams are fairly easy, and he'll let you talk to him about it. Fair teacher, no trick questions.
panth is awesome. his class is soooo easy if you are willing to go to class. all test questions are straight from class and he explains everything very well.
This professor's teaching style was too loose, which made the class somewhat useless. I didnt learn very much
Panth is amazing. Literally all you have to do for an A+ is go to class and pay attention. He teaches everything you have to know and is crystal clear. I barely reviewed for the first two midterms and got 100% on both. Class is boring, but what can you do. I strongly recommend this class for math credit.
He is very repetitive in class. a lot of the time it feels like it would be better to just teach yourself out of the book. When he teaches you something its not the way that it is taught in the book so take good notes b/c referring to the book examples will confuse the crap out of you.
He teaches materials clearly in his own way. so take good notes! all quizes and tests are based on his lecture. This class is very easy!
Worst professor I've had at BU, they should really let this guy go. He doesn't care about the subject material. Fools you into thinking it's an easy class by giving you a joke for the first midterm, and then jerks you over for the final. Worst class ever, if you get him switch out immediately.
He will make you think the class is a joke at first, then screw you over for the final. Panth is also very boring and does not know how to teach calculus.
If you plan to attending class and learn, then take Panth. If you want to take the class because its easy, then Panth is your wrong choice. Test is class material so watch out if you no attend class.
A really horrible professor. He will start explaining a math problem, and then interrupt it by showing another problem, and then go back to the original problem multiple times. At his office hours, he dismisses your questions. I had an A in pre-calc in high school and did terribly in his class. It's really really really hard to stay awake!
Panth is really great. He's goes over so many examples, you almost have to understand the material. He doesn't get mad if you don't go to class (attendance isn't mandatory) and is willing to help you and honestly explains the concepts well. he's even kind of funny sometimes. great teacher!
He has no accent! Which is both a plus and a minus. Anyways, I found that his teaching is very very clear. I have taken Calculus before in highschool but not in English so I found this class very useful. His problems are very easy compared to other teachers. He is a caring prof who loves teaching. THe only downside is that he smokes. Take hisclass
Panth is the most fair professor you will ever have. He fools you into thinking his class will be easier than it actually is. As long as you attend every lecture and prepare yourself for midterms and quizzes you will definitely get an A if you have any brain at all. I got a 100 on his final so he obviously made it much easier.
Prof. Panth really knows how to teach. He spends a lot of time solving problems on the board, which is very helpful come midterms/final. He also takes every question and answers them. He is obviously smart in math and will help you . He took his own time on the biggest snow day ever to give his students extra help. AWESOME GUY!
really nice and a pretty good teacher. easy class dont need to go to lectures. hard to know your grade though.
Panth is so unclear in his teaching. He is hard to follow because he does not know how to explain himself. I dreaded going to his class.
This guy is cool! Take this class. He explains everything very clearly, tells you exactly what will be on the exam (in lecture, so make sure you go, and not just right before the exams)
Panth is an ok teacher. I really like him, but sometimes he has trouble getting his ideas across to the class. I had him at 8 AM, and i was able to stay awake. If you need an easy math requirement, take this class. The subject itself, is easy.
By far the easiest math class I have taken at BU. The weekly tests kind of suck but you don't have to stay for the rest of discussion. He goes through things VERY slowly and the material is already easy. Not an interesting class by any means, but take him if its a required class or for an easy A.
THE PANTHER!
though he sometimes make really bad jokes, he is an easy going teacher. he explains things well. if you just go to his classes, you will get an A. he tells you what kind of questions to expect in the test.
You dont have to attend lectures because attendance is not taken. He has no problems boosting your grade if you make a reasonable argue. He has made comments before such along the lines of "I didn't do such and such because I was too lazy". Ranjan is a ****.
love him!
Prof. Panth is very haphazard and difficult to understand. Although having class at 8am was certainly not helpful, he was still very unclear even at the best of times. I would not recommend this class to someone who had not EXTENSIVELY dealth with the material that it covers.
Panth is incredibly clear when he teaches. He is also very very fair and tries to get that point across over the semester. I took Calc in high school and although the material itself is easy, he made the class enjoyable.
Panth is a pretty decent prof. you really don't have to go to all the lectures, but i'd suggest it for those who don't have a firm grasp on calc. the weekly quizzes are really easy if you go over your notes. he practically TELLS you to cheat on hw. overall, a pretty easy class.
Panth is a very nice professor who really goes out of his way to help his students. He wants you to do well and slows down when he knows the class does not understand. His test problems typically come directly from homework and notes, although they can be challenging. Can be boring, but you understand the information.
Panth is a great professor! he really wants the students to do well. he slows down when he knows you don't understand it and will go out of his way to make sure you do. tests are simple if you understand the material.
Panth is a great professor! If you need to fulfill a math requirement, this is definitely one of the easiest math classes to take. If you go to class and take good notes, do the homework and prepare for tests, there is no reason you shouldn't make an A or A-. Tests are fair--most of tough questions are examples done in class or from hw.
Really good teacher!
Told me a nice story of how a student passed with a D a few years back...too bad passing at BU is a C...
he is such a great teacher tells you exactly what you need to know for the test, don't need to read the textbook just go to his lectures
He's a really good professor. He is always willing to answer questions, as long as you go to lecture. If you don't go to lecture, you probably won't do well. Overall, the topic is pretty easy, mostly high school stuff. Weekly quizzes in discussion are really simple, and the tests are multiple choice for the most part. Easy math credit.
Prof Panth is a sweetheart. He is really nice and the class is very easy if you do the homework and show up to lecture (even though it's not mandatory). He lets you bring a cheat sheet for exams and curves everything. Sometimes he gets confused and you have to get him on track, but he really loves teaching. It's a good math class to take.
Panth definitely fails as a teacher. the wrost math teacher. Reading my notes is a pain because everything is in a such a disarray, cluttered with excessive examples and repetition throughout because of the way Panth taught the material. I really wish he can better explain the material. It's unfortunate he makes thing unneccessarily complicated.
I definitely think he has the best intentions for his students, and he rewards those that go to class! Sometimes he rushes through things that can be difficult, but as long as you write it all down and go back to try and understand it later I think you'll be alright. Extremely nice guy, I would definitely recommend him!
sweet guy and really easy class
Panth is a really really nice guy. In class he's all over the place, which can be confusing at times, but he'll clarify everything in office hours. He's also really funny and overall really cares about students and wants you to learn. Take class with him!
Great teacher, he goes through things and makes it seem confusing at first but does a good job explaining it (if you need him to) afterwards. It's a good idea to go to class and take notes because they DO help.
He was a nice guy, but a sub par professor
Great Calculus teacher. Occasionally gets off subject, but in the end explains the concepts very well. He keeps the lectures interesting and has a good sense of humor. Taking notes in lecture is extremely helpful and recommended. Discussion is mandatory, in order to turn in homework and take a single-question quiz each week.
Professor Panth is a wonderful teacher! He is a nice man and very fair grader. He managed to make 8am lectures interesting. Discussion sections are mandatory as you take a quiz/turn in homework. If you need to take MA121 I strongly recommend taking it with Panth!
Professor has wasted valuable class time complaining about not wanting to correct homework. And has argued that its not fair for his TAs to have to correct HW...uh, isn't that your job? So now there's no homework. Prof gets frustrated with too many questions then wastes time complaining about the questions instead of answering them. worst ever.
Attendance isn't strictly mandatory, but he'll randomly give out midterm questions, so make sure you get all the notes. Great calc teacher. He makes everything easy to understand. Tests very straightforward as long as you go to class and do homework.
Panth is a great prof who makes class interesting. He is pretty funny and tests are straight forward. There are 3 non cumulative tests one of which is considered the final. He does a good job explaining concepts and gives several examples for students to understand. His grading is very fair& scales if necessary. HW is easy& so are the weekly quizes
By far one of the best professors I ever had here at BU; he's extremely understanding and VERY entertaining. He tends to digress at times, but that's what makes the class much more interesting. His homework is challenging, but his quizes are very easy; his midterms are somewhere in between the two. YOU MUST TAKE A COURSE WITH HIM!! He's AWESOME!!
Panth is a very good professor. He really knows his stuff when it comes to calc, although his lectures can be a little scattered at times. He really wants people to do well, and spends a lot of time checking to see if people are understanding the material/have any questions. Overall not a hard class, highly recommended professor.
Prof. Panth is extremely funny, but keeps his jokes to a minimum. He is very good at teaching complex concepts in a way that the whole class can understand. He follows the rules, and is fair to all students.
If you've never taken calc before do NOT take this class if you care about getting an A. It is impossible especially when the grades are curved with a room of students most of whom have already taken calc in highschool. He's helpful when you ask questions, but he is all over the place in lecture and gets sidetracked. Has no accent despite the name
Excellent professor. Entertaining, but sticks to the subject. Well versed in Calculus. Class is a bit scattered but he always makes sure that everyone understands the concepts.
Awesome Awesome Professor! He made everything very clear. He is very good with what he is doing and very professional unlike some other professors at BU. He cares about his students a lot and helps his students at his best. TAKE HIM FOR CAL!!
Super easy, fair grader and tries to make class interesting.. He doesn't do a good good in simplifying the material, however.
Anything I learned in this course was through the textbook. He is very scattered in class. His grading is very rigid. He's also kind of condescending (the topic is SO easy according to him) which made him intimidating to ask questions. Treated a two credit class like four credits.
Really nice guy, not a good professor. He wastes a lot of time in class and seems to be more interested in teaching quick tricks for solving problems rather then then explaining exactly what to do. Walking away from this class having learned nothing new.
If you want an easy A, take professor Panth. You are ALLOWED cheat sheets. I wouldn't know how helpful he is because I have never needed help from him. He teaches so that a 3rd grader could comprehend.
Really helpful. Always drop a few jokes here and there to keep the class interesting.
The other comments saying he doesn't teach anything new. Thats probably because they took calc in highschool, then took his MA121 course for easy A. I knew nothing of calculus before his class, and he treated me the greatest respect, and I learned WHY I was doing things, not just how. I'd take his class again, if I was taking any other math courses
He was very considerate of the students but his tests are unbelievably ridiculous. Each test is not cumulative and his weekly one question quizzes counts a lot towards our final grade. He can be good at explaining concepts but can go overboard to a point of confusion.
Good teacher, interested in students. His midterms were easy but the final was incredibly hard and lots of people failed
Good teacher, outlines everything clearly, and is very laid back about homework.
Great professor, fair exams, but TAKE THE QUIZZES AND HOMEWORK SERIOUSLY. I did alright on the exams but not well on quizzes or homework and they impacted my grade more than I thought they would.
Very fair teacher who knows what he is talking about.Generous to those who needit. Speaks clear English which is RARE at BU. Main issue is that he doesn't curve his exams during summer session!
Panth is my favorite professor i've had. He treats each student as a person and not just a number. He tells stories that relate the material to real life and help you remember the concepts. Definitely do the HW well. You have to go to class if you want to pass the exams because a lot of the exam questions stem exactly from notes.
Best Math Professor in BU! He explains Calculus clearly, and he is super helpful during the office hours. His tests are not hard if u attend the lectures; he also curves the grades up if the class average is low. A nice guy, take his class!
He is a great calc professor, he teaches for students who don't like math so he explains it clearly. Following his lectures is easy because he is very engaging, exams are somewhat challenging but he is a fair grader. Homeworks suck because the graders are the worse and do not know how to do calculus. Weekly quizzes are a pain but easy.
Best math teacher I've ever had! His lecture is way clearer than the textbook!
Prof Panth is an amazing teacher. Calculus becomes simple if you go to his lectures. Great voice, great clarity, he is always thinking about how to improve his teaching and be fairer.
He is a great professor! He is super nice and always wants to help his students understand. Do all the homework and don't fail the quizzes. The tests are tricky but study a lot! He is very easy to talk to. I once spoke to him for an hour and a half. Super nice guy! The class is difficult but he knows how to teach! Take his class! :)
Panth somehow made math an interesting class to attend. He is very engaging and a very clear teacher. I don't like math but I enjoyed attending his class. However, his exams were very difficult. Figure out before hand where he gets his questions for his exams.
Professor Panth is extremely nice person and great professor! Take as many classes with him as you can!!!!!
Classes are easy. So if you think you can understand everything by reading the textbook by yourself you don't need to go to the class. The HW and exams are much more diffcult than what he taught in class. Take every HW seriously and do not miss the quizs you will do fine. Hard exam with fair curve.
Professor Panth is so awesome! One of the best I've had. I looked forward to going to class. He has such a great sense of humor. I definitely recommend taking his class. He's very clear and thorough. Exams require you to think but they are completely fair. Put in the time and effort and you'll do great. AMAZING GUY.
Professor Panth is extremely energetic, which is super helpful for evening class. He's also pretty clear and easy to follow. His tests can be a bit tough, but the curve takes care of that. Do the homework and everything goes smoothly.
This class was a joke if you took any calc in high school. Panth is hilarious and very kind and fair. Class was always fun and interested. I recommend him for sure and if you do the work you will undoubtedly get a good grade. PANTH IS THE MAN!
I dont normally give ratings on this site, but I broke that for this guy. Panth is friken AMAZING!! Hands down the best professor I've had since being here. Super funny, explains concepts clearly and frequently and has super easy midterms and final. Highly recommend.
All math teachers, at every level of education, should be like Prof Panth. Makes the subject matter interesting, accessible and relevant. The first class I was worried because it seemed too simple compared to the book, but then when I did the hw I realized he had perfectly prepared us. A huge relief for a tough subject.
He is one of the best professors I have had. I received a B- but my grade would have been much higher but I failed the first midterm (my fault not his.) He actually cares about you learning the material and he is very approachable. He encourages questions in class and he is fair about grading exams. Highly recommended!
I have Panth now and he is one of the best math teachers I've ever had, not to mention one of the best Professors I've had a BU. If you attend lecture, take notes, and do the homework you will do fine. Panth is extremely clear and does a ton of examples to help you through the material. Somehow, he also manages to stay very engaging!
Go to lecture.
He is a really great professor, especially if you aren't a math person. He's really good at predicting what concepts are hard for students to understand and he seems to really care that everyone does well. If you go to lecture and do the homework, it's an easy class.
Professor Panth is super funny and nice. He makes math fun to learn and most importantly, reasonable in terms of grading. If you put in enough effort you'd definitely get what you deserve.
I absolutely loved Panth. He is the best math teacher I have ever had. He is really funny as well. Do your work and be sincere. He taught me that calc can be a lot of fun. He is so considerate and gives us "mental health breaks" in class to relax for 5 min. Thank you professor for being amazing.
Best math prof I've ever had. He's very clear, fair and helpful. If you go to every class, pay attention, and do the homework right, the class is a guaranteed A. Learned so much from him. He's funny too and makes college life so much more relieving. Every professor at BU should be like Professor Panth.
I've never rated any professor on this site before, but for this guy, I'll make an exception. This guy is the absolute worst professor I've ever had. Period. Took his class because of all the good reviews here, but he was so unclear in class, and his lecture was all over the place. If you're taking linear algebra find someone else. What a failure.
I absolutely hate calculus before I was in prof.panth's class. Prof Panth just makes the class so interesting and he explains the concepts very very clearly. one of the best professor ive had at bu and i wish he was my high school calculus teacher, if that was the case, probably i wouldn't hate math so much. highly recommend taking his class!!
Professor Panth is the best math professor ever. Seriously, take him and you won't regret it. I hate math, but he makes calculus seem interesting (which no other math teacher has EVER done for me before). YEAHHH PANTH!
Linear is a difficult subject, and can get confusing, but Panth does an excellent job explaining the concepts. Sometimes he goes off on tangents, but hes informative. Tests are fair but have several "tricks" you have to watch out for. Class isnt mandatory but youll fall behind if you skip.
Amazing professor. He makes every class interesting. Never gets the least bit annoyed and always answers every single question. Very helpful. Would definitely take his classes again.
Professor Panth himself is an amazing, caring person. However, he can be a bit confusing if you have never taken calculus before as he doesn't outline step by step what you have to do, he just does practice problems for you. You sit through the class thinking you get it and then the test comes and your lost. still pretty good though
Professor Panth is a great lecturer. The key to getting a good grade is taking good notes and really working hard on the homework. He's great at explaining stuff, but his tests are tough. There's little chance you'll excel if you frequently skip class or sleep through them.
Really fair to students, does not treat anyone special. Takes the syllabus as a contract between students and him, once it's published nothing is changeable. Approach him after class, or office hours for personal cases and issues. Does not remember names. Exams are based on things done in class, so COME TO CLASS and FOCUS all the time.
He puts different material on the tests than what is taught in class. Rude and condescending to struggling students in office hours. Tries to make everything seem like it is the students' fault, not his own.
He makes Maths interesting, does not water down anything, and expects students to keep up. I recommend using outside tutoring for help because he tends to not understand students' questions. He is concerned about his students and will try to help as much as he can. He will go over questions for quizzes in class so don't skip.
I would not have been able to pass this class if it weren't for Prof. Panth. I'm not a math person and had never taken calculus before, so classes were hard and confusing for me. I went to office hours twice a week and Panth looked all the material over with me as many times as I needed. If you put in the work, Panth will not let you down. Amazing.
In my list of nice professors at BU. Teaches only the necessary - saves you a lot of time. Very kind. Cares extremely about being fair, and a good professor. Succeeds at it. Go to discussion (quizzes are 1 easy question worth 2 points). No crazy deadlines - just tests and helpful HW Exam problems from HW and class notes. Nice soul. Take him!
Panth is great. He is articulate and is willing to help. The exams are based on material taught in lecture as well as the problems on the homework, so they should be familiar and quite straightforward. There are no tricks. Just practice and you will pass just fine. I would choose Panth again if I could.
You don't have to attend lecture to get an A, but if you do a few classes before the exams, you'll know what will be on the exams. Homework and discussion quizzes are worth 25% total so definitely do them.
Panth is absolutely the man! Funny guy and genuine toward his students. His expectations are very clear and tests are not bad if you go to lecture and do the homework. Sometimes likes to take mental breaks halfway through class and tells a funny story. Also, he's always willing to repeat something if you ask him to. All around great professor.
Best calculus professor I've had! His exams were based on the exercises he did in class and homework, so you have to go to lecture. Really funny and nice :)
He is just a very very nice person and I love the way he tells jokes in lectures. Tests are not particularly hard if you put some efforts in doing and understanding the homework.
Very informative and great at explaining things in a succinct and concise way. Discussion once a week is mandatory to attend because there is a quiz every week. Would recommend. Doing homework can help your grade.
Panth is one of the best math professors I've had at BU. He is very organized and does a great job explaining concepts. He is very helpful, even when moving on from the class he is willing to help you where if can. Would take him for any class he taught.
Panth is the absolute best. I will warn you that if you've never taken calc or Its been a while you'll have to work a little harder; almost everyone is a freshman who took it senior year. His lectures go by so fast and he explains things in the easiest way. Calc is so clear with him, TAKE THIS CLASS. He's worth scheduling your classes around
Homework assignments, weekly quizzez / practice problems, and lectures that really prep you for the mid-terms. This class is as straightforward as classes get at BU. There are no tricks, and the course has itself together. The fact that Panth is awesome is an added plus.
Hilarious but can be tough especially because his lectures mainly consist of examples. Doesn't really introduce topics just does problems and expects you to figure it out. If that's your learning style, definitely go with Panth because he's sarcastic and makes class interesting. If you're like me though and need more explination, it'll be hard.
I LOVED Panth. He's so funny and so chill and I love the way he teaches. He's very direct and to the point but still covers all the bases you need to know to be able to do homework and perform well on quizzes and tests. Definitely don't skip lecture!
Panth is an amazing lecturer. I am pretty averse to pure Maths, but he manages to stimulate interest in the subject. If you need extra help, go to office hours; he's beyond open to sitting with you while you ask the same question over and over, and answering it over and over again, and then explaining it once more to make sure you understand.
Coming from someone who took calculus class in high school, I found the lectures & weekly homework & quizzes to be easy and got 100s on them. I would redo the homework 3x to study for the tests, yet they were still completely out of left field. They are the majority of your grade, yet theres no way to prepare bc they are not like anything learned.
Panth is a really phenomenal teacher. He knows the material inside and out and he's adept at explaining math using intuitive examples - without a lot of formality or clutter. His office hours are great and he's a tireless worker for his students. I'd recommend him to anyone willing to engage in the material.
Really cares about teaching and students he works with. Amazing guy and amazing lecturer
Tells you exactly what he wants to expect from his students for HW, exams and quizzes. Mandatory attendance because he doesn't post notes online. As long as you show up, pay attention, copy notes and do homework, this course is not that difficult. Not an easy A, but VERY hard to fail. Dr. Panth himself is wonderful and caring about his students!
Easily best professor at BU. Words can't describe this man's kindness and compassion. Weekly discussion quizzes that are pass fail, almost impossible to not get credit. Weekly homework is kinda awful but work hard on it because it will really boost your grade. HE TELLS YOU WHAT EVERY PROBLEM ON THE TESTS WILL BE. Get ready for some dad jokes.
Panth's lectures are engaging and cover the material well. Attendance is not required and there are no grades in lecture but you should definitely go because the lectures are not recorded and it is really the only way to learn the material. I don't recall using a textbook for the class.
Panth's class is pretty easy if you do all the book exercises and homework assigned. Exams are short, so make one mistake can deduct like 5 points out of 100. Panth is very nice outside of the classroom and very willing to help you with questions step by step.
He goes over the material in lecture very fast and skips steps while solving the problems, leaving your notes incomplete. I haven't even taken a test in his CALC 2 class yet, but I've been spending 10 HOURS A WEEK OR MORE on the MYMATHLAB homework he assigns. It's about 100 problems a week, which completely consumes my weekends. stay away.
DON'T MISS HIM! Aside from being a really nice person, he teaches in details, doesn't usually skip steps (unless you've gone far in the course), and makes sense out of everything. I perfectly understand everything he says. Sometimes I'm stuck on the hw because problems aren't the same as examples he covered; but he definitely explains the logic.
DON'T SKIP CLASS! He does cover materials that are not in textbook so GO to his class and pay attention. He keeps a really good pace for me and will slow down explain if someone asks. You do need to read the book if you're first-time learning though. He starts with examples so better know what he's doing. A lot of HW typical of math. Funny person.
Excellent professor, one of the best Ive had at BU so far. Really cares about you and wants you to succeed
One of the best professors I've had. He talks really quickly, but will slow down and explain anything if you ask him. Really enthusiastic about math and pretty funny too. Attendance isn't mandatory but it'll be hard to pass the exams with out showing up to every lecture.
Prof Panth is the best professor for calculus 2, I say this because I have attended other sections. He is full of energy and tries so so hard to make a hard class interesting. The course in general is really hard but he surely made it easier by his lectures. Go to his office hours and he will try his best to help you.
Panth is so nice. He really does try to make the class engaging by making jokes and telling anecdotes. I do feel like he digresses just a little bit sometimes. The quizzes he makes for discussion were easy/reasonable. I did think the course was challenging, though. Practice was the best way to succeed in the class, regardless what prof you have.
Amazing professor for a difficult class. If you want to do well and understand Calc 2, take this professor. Almost always gives proofs for concepts (that you don't need to remember), and is very good about fair testing. If you pay attention, work (semi-) hard, and do the homework, you will do well. Best math teacher/professor I've ever had.
Panth is probably the best math professor I've ever had. He makes sure to crack jokes to keep your interest and he's always willing to help students outside of class. Generally just a great human being to be around.
If you have a Calc requirement, he is your best bet. Go to his lectures and do the H.W., nothing more should be required of you. The class will be an easy A regardless of your background in Math. Really knows what he is talking about. Highly recommend.
Prof. Panth is very good. If you have to take any calculus course at BU and he is teaching, take him. He makes things really easy to understand. His lectures are pretty good; in the summer he'll go off topic to break the monotony of the class.
Had never taken calc before. Definitely, go to office hours. Really fair with grading and very straightforward with expectations. Take his class for calc.
Panth taught calculus in a way that was easy to follow/understand. Lecture was entertaining and he was very helpful in office hours/if you had any questions. 10/10 would recommend
I love professor Panth. He is da best. He gives pretty funny jokes. He is approachable, explains concepts well. If you take calc 2, take it with him! You won't regret it!
Exams are carbon copies of lecture examples and homework problems. Panth is really funny and accommodating when it comes to grading. He explains calculus perfectly for social science majors (people who never want to see calc after MA121) and tries to make sure that everybody is on the same page with what to expect for exams. Go to class to succeed.
He is very caring and makes calculus understandable. 10/10 recommend.
You MUST attend this class. No slides, he just goes through problems on the chalkboard and takes notes from his legal pad. But, he is a fantastic professor and really helps students understand concepts. Go to his test review sessions and ask questions. This class is hard but Panth is the best choice if you have to take it.
Great guy, very clear about what is expected, very fair in grading and assignments. His class is easy to follow and well taught.
He is really funny and good at engaging the class. Knows what hes talking about and is able to teach it in an easy way to understand. He is also laid back and from the beginning tells you what you need to do to receive an A in the class.
Panth is awesome. He is an amazing lecturer and makes sure that everyone understands the material. He does many examples so that you are prepared for any question that comes your way. 100% would recommend.
Panth's a great guy and very knowledge. Go to his office hours. Some of his test is on vocab so go to class and make sure you know the definitions. His class is probably harder than all the other MA121 sections so if you want an easy A don't take him. If you want to learn, take him.
Amazing lecturer, he really makes sense of mathematical concepts and connects everything we learn to each other
His lecture is good, but he is a real tough grader. Through the syllabus, you can get A if you only make two mistakes during three exams. Besides, you must have full credits on your hwk and quizs. Too hard for me.
Panth is such a nice, funny guy. Lectures are not mandatory, but trust me when I say you will regret missing them; you have to take a lot of notes and there is homework due every week. He is a really nice guy and his lectures never bored me, he always takes a break during lectures which personally helped me retain attention.
He is an extremely funny guy and I actually enjoyed going to classes. His exams are a little more difficult than I'd like, but he's easily accessible if anyone has questions. He teaches really well and actually cares if people understand or not. The grading is steep, 75% coming from exams so if you do poorly on one it messes up your whole grade.
Exams are very similar to homework and class material. To study, I just redid homework problems. It's important to go to class, as he specifies how he will ask exam questions. I recommend putting in the effort to make sure your homework and quizzes averages are high because they can make a drastic difference in your grade.
He goes through many examples in class and does his best to answer any questions. At the end of the semester he drops your lowest two homework grades and your lowest two quizzes so it is okay to make mistakes. The quiz questions were usually the easy problems from the worksheets and the exam questions came from solved examples in the textbook.
I had previously taking AP calc so it was an easy A for me, but for those who havn't taken calc before it's really fast paced. He's a good at explaining topics, though, and even though I knew I was good at math, he made it even easier. Definitely recommend, and would take again. plus he takes regular breaks to tell stories to keep your attention
Very cool guy and a very good math teacher
Panth is a sweet guy, and an understanding professor. If you're OK at math, you should take him as it's not a hard class and Panth is good enough to make the class pleasant. However, his tests make you take practice/hw a step further and sometimes it's not clear unless you understand the concept 100%. Good exam review sessions tho
He is a great professor who tries really have to make sure all the different calculus concepts are taught. Although there is a lot of homework, if you get this done, you will be able to do well on the exams. If you ever have questions, he is willing to go over them at the beginning of class.
Nice professor.
Great professor in general! Very easy to talk to, great at giving lectures. He's really funny and makes multivariate calc easy to understand. Paying attention in lectures and discussions is basically 90% of all the studying I had to do. Tests are okay and there won't any surprise questions.
He is a great teacher! He makes every calc concept super clear and gives a bunch of examples in class. 2 midterms and 1 final that you should study for because they can be tricky, but he lets you use a flash card on each with notes. They also arent cumulative. HW and 1 question quiz each week in discussion, but he drops your lowest hw and quiz.
He says if you go to lecture, do the homework, attend the discussions, and get 100% on the quizzes, you will do well on the tests. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I have attended all lectures, done all homework, gotten 100% on all quizzes, frequently went to office hours and am still struggling to get a B. The quizzes do not reflect the tests like he claims!
If you go to class, Panth makes your life easy. He has amazing lectures and even gives brain breaks during lecture. He tells you what will be on the exam, and homework and quizzes align with the exams as well. He's understanding and hilarious, TAKE HIS CLASS! He adds students with add/drop forms, so don't be discoraged if the class is "full" on SL.
Panth is the most caring a heartwarming prof I've had so far at BU. Lectures are usually pretty clear, although he goes off on funny side tangents every now and then. His exams are pretty straight forward so long as you pay attention in lecture. Really fun guy, there's never a dull moment. I can't recommend him enough!
Prof panth is amazing! Highly recommend him for multivar. Teaches the concepts really well and makes class super entertaining at the same time. GO TO CLASS. We did have to rush at the end of the semester, but other than it was pretty good.
Prof. Panth is a funny lecturer who cares about his students. We were not allowed to use calculators so he gave us an index card that we could write anything on which was super helpful. His tests were very difficult but him and his TFs are very willing to help. Overall, the class was really good but also really difficult.
This man is amazing. Best prof I've had at BU. His lectures are interesting and exams reflect only the basic questions you cover in lecture and discussion. The weekly quizzes are very fair and the TA Aash is very good and comprehensive. This course is run exponentially better than MA124.
great guy, fair grader, 100% recommend
Professor Panth is hands down the best professor I have ever had in any subject. He honestly wants all his students to not only pass but to also really understand the concepts. He doesn't just explain how to do things but also why it matters and how it ties to other concepts in math. He will never make you feel stupid for not knowing something.
I personally struggled with Panth's class at first since I didn't have prior knowledge with MA225. But, Prof. Panth is really caring and is willing to explain concepts to you during office hours. When I went to get help from him, I never felt out of place or felt dumb when I didn't know something/ understand something. :)
Prof. Panth is one of the best professors I've had. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to learn! He explains concepts clearly and thoroughly, while also keeping the class entertaining. The quizzes and exams are fairly straightforward and based off of lectures and homework. Definitely take his class!
Was my professor during rona and knew that cheating would be inevitable for online classes. In response, he graded us not on exams but instead completing weekly homework that weas directly from the textbook. He told us "All I care about is that you come to class and absorb the material." He truly cares about his students, good man.
BLESS THIS MAN. I'm almost personally offended he's at 3.8/5 at the time of this review. He truly cares about his students - demonstrated by his choice to completely cancel exams after going online due to COVID-19. He gives a lot of examples in class and is always available for office hours. Reasonable grading and he's a great guy!
Easily one of the best if not the best math professor you'll ever get. Take any of his courses, you'll love it
he's the goat saved my gpa
Disagree with the consensus here. If learning the material is at all important to you, avoid Panth. He's too willing to slow down and lower expectations if anyone in the class complains, to the point where we basically didn't get to 1/3 of the material and test averages were 90%. Likeable but also fumbles and makes many mistakes in class and tests.
honestly, was really bummed that i had to take calc for my major but professor panth is a really good teacher and I honestly really enjoy his classes. one time, I emailed him because he forgot to post the recordings and he replied immediately and was super apologetic about it. he's always super helpful but just make sure you do go ask for help.
Panth really cares about his students and their learning of the material. His explanations are clear and his tests are easy if you go to lecture. He knows that if you're taking this class, it's because you need it for something else and wants to give out good grades, so it's on you to learn the material.
Prof Panth is an amazing lecturer. He explains concepts very well and is always ready to help students. Tries to make tests easier and curves when grades are low. there are weekly homework and worksheets so it is a lot of work but they have a considerable weightage. if you pay attention and reach out with questions, you will definitely do well
Really cares about his students doing well. Go to lectures, do all the homework and worksheets sincerely and you'll do well on the tests and get an A. One of the best Math Profs I've ever had. Only problem was that his office hours weren't at suitable times for international students because of the time difference.
great professor! explains concepts very well.
Really caring professor. Tests and quizzes are very fair and lectures are quite informative. If you have a chance to take panth, take him
Best professor for Calc, hands down! If you've never taken class, Panth is the best option for you since he goes over everything in great details. He's open to questions and will definitely make sure you understand the material before moving on. I recommend attending his office hours for homework and worksheet help, he'll gladly guide you through.
I loved this prof. He is very caring, funny and his lectures are recorded. He doesn't make you use the textbook, but it is recommended. I didn't get the best grade but that was due to my own doing, his grading is clear, but the class is still quite difficult.
Ranjan is great as long as you pay attention and make an effort to get extra help if you need it. Just pay attention in class and try really hard on the HW and you'll be fine. Lectures are directly applicable to the HW which is 40% of grade. Exams were much harder due to the ability to cheat online which was my only problem with this class.
i usually hate math but professor panth is an amazing professor who is very clear on subject matter and grading. all of his test problems are pulled from homework and worksheets or lectures so as long as you do your mandatory work you'll be fine. he always has office hours before exams and his lectures are super easy to follow.
Professor Panth is a great professor and the quizzes are extremely similar to the homework. If you're confused on any homework, he is very accessible and helpful during office hours to explain how to do any problems. The quizzes may seem challenging but as long as you understand the homework and take notes during lecture, you can do well on them.
Amazing professor. Took him for multivariate calc (MA225) and he is very nice so long as you do your work on time. You want to watch his lectures because he makes it easy to learn. I wish he could teach my other math classes because he teaches so well.
Best Prof I'd ever had. Possibly the best I will ever have. I wish I'm a math major so that I can take more of his classes. Not sure why he isn't 5, but he should be.
Very friendly calc professor! His lectures are engaging and he makes calc seem not as hard as it is. Although there are homework and worksheets to complete each week, he's very flexible with due dates and only assigns this much work to compensate for potentially bad test grades. He's also always holding office hours for help and he genuinely cares!
He spends the entire class talking about off-topic things, then quickly skims over the material before assigning very difficult worksheets. Homework is not that challenging but is not at all similar to the tests. Beware! You will end up teaching yourself material, especially if you did not take calculus already like me!
probably worst professor i have learned calculus from, gets really off topic in class and overloads on worksheets and homeworks (compensates for low test grades), 4 exams worth 15% each, exams questions are ridiculously difficult and do not match the homework or worksheets so prepare to teach yourself
Professor Panth really wants his students to succeed. He has many opportunities for office hours (usually 3 days a week). HWs (my lab math and worksheets) and 3 exams were 20% each, and his exams are fair (as long as you do the hw and listen to lectures you will do fine). He's truly a wholehearted guy with a good sense of humor.
He gets very off topic and slow during lectures. Exams were 10 points per question and can easily mess you up so be careful
Panth explains things clearly when not rushing past topics (happens very few times). If confused just ask him after class/in OH. Curves a bit. Take ma225 with him, you'll learn a lot. The textbook helps but not mandatory for his course.
A solid choice for an intro calculus class. He makes even the tough concepts easy to grasp. The tests are super easy and most of the questions are directly from lectures and worksheets/homworks. However, his lectures are a bit all over the place but this is something not to worry about because his lectures are super easy to understand.
Some contents of MA225 are a little abstract and difficult, but Professor Panth explains them very clearly. His class is so interesting that I'd never been distracted from his class. He is also helpful outside of the class. To get a higher grade, you should treat the worksheet each week seriously. To sum up, it's so lucky to take MA225 with him!
His lectures are pretty easy to follow. I sometimes complain that he goes over a concept for too long, but that can be good for some people. Pretty available for whenever you need extra help. Very homework and worksheet heavy, PLEASE don't save them for the last day. Overall solid professor and I wouldn't mind having him again.
Professor Panth is a super nice and knowledgeable professor. To succeed in his MA121 class you definitely need to attend every lecture, take notes, and do all the homework and worksheet problems. If you put in the work and attend office hours as well you will succeed and do good in this class.
Professor Panth's class was extremely straightforward and problem sets and homework were worth 40% of the overall grade which alleviated pressure from tests. However, they were extremely time-consuming which made the class more difficult but overall if you work hard on the worksheets and homework you will do well in the class.
he is a good professor, but he definitely caters to the bottom half of the class more. I wish I took it from a different professor.
GO TO LECTURE. IF YOU DONT YOU WILL STUGGLE. Panth is a bit difficult as a teacher. His intentions are there but the execution is flawed. Is he the best of the bunch for 121? Most likely.
He is the great professor ever!!!!!! Honestly, I hate math before I took this class (I only took this for hub credit), but he makes this class very interesting and easy to follow. I had studied calculus in high school and it was a nightmare, but I've started to think math is not that hard after taking his class.
Grading is unfair and expectations were not made clear at the beginning of the semester. Weekly quizzes were not graded until 1 week before the final. Lectures are difficult to follow if you don't have an iPad and apple pen. The syllabus has literally no information about the class. Nice guy but does not prepare students for what is o n the exams
I really struggled with Calculus before taking this class but he was very clear in his teaching and wants his students to do well which goes a long way. Definitely suited to people with lower ability. Overall, great guy and solid class. (Had to take it for Questrom)
Hes probably the best professor for MA121. He does a great job going over concepts with tons of examples. His lectures are great and helpful. Attend his office hours, he literally gives out quiz answers. Allowed us to drop two quizzes, 1 homework, curved both midterms, and curved final grade. Best math teacher Ive ever had.
Go to lectures and office hours! His homework can be difficult at times but if you ask for help he will help you! if you took ap cal in high school, this is definitely an easy A
His homework and quizzes made up 40% of the grading scale, which eased the burden of midterms and finals. He also dropped the two lowest quiz grades and curved his midterm scores. His midterm and final exams were both from lectures and worksheets with similar questions. If you go to all his lectures and did all the worksheets, then youre good:)
Great professor, although a little disorganized. Didn't receive most quiz grades until a week before finals, which made it hard to know where you stood or what you needed to improve upon. Great speaker and makes everything clear.
If you already took calc the class will feel like a drag but he makes jokes during class and goes on tangents, which at times is annoying but overall makes the class enjoyable. You need to buy the textbook to do the homework since it's an online software. Weekly homework and quizzes. Drops lowest test and 2 quizzes. Sometimes posts lecture notes.
Panth is a great teacher. Some professors intuitively understand how students process and retain information and some don't. Panth absolutely does. His lectures take you logically through the material with examples and metaphors that intuitively make sense. He also clearly values teaching and does extra lectures on material students don't know well
As someone who is horrible at math and dreaded having to take calculus, I couldn't be happier I took it with Panth. He is amazing at explaining things, he really simplifies the material and tries to make the course as easy as possible. Weekly 2 question quizzes in discussion, weekly online hw, and 3 non-cumulative exams.
Choose this professor if you want to understand calculus
Panth is the best lecturer Ive had at BU. He explains difficult concepts very clearly and stops class for breaks when he sees that people are losing focus. Throughout the lectures he actively asks for feedback and when time forbids, tells stories and gives advice about his college days and his life. He also holds optional zoom meetings near exams.
He is the reason why I change my major to math! the lecture is very engaging and the class has quizzes every week but they are pretty easy. The exams are not hard as long as you understand all problem sets, you can handle them! He is very responsible and has zoom meetings to help students prepare for tests.
Clearly the most experienced educator I had so far. Unique aspects: 1, 2 min break every 25 min 2, Go straight into the material -> unimportant announcement for later 3, will stop lecturing periodically and get students hands on solving a problem with partner 4, 1 point quiz every lec, quizzing an exact problem from last lecture's slides
Prof. Panth has reached peak professorship. The guy knows what the students lack and knows how to help them get it. His lectures are engaging, he gives 2 minute breaks every 25 minutes or so (which are very useful), he explains things clearly and efficiently. I wish I could have every math course with him as professor.
Words cant explain how much I adore this professor. Taking this already difficult class in the summer meant that we had to condense 16 weeks of material into 6 weeks, but he's so good at explaining the material that even people who aren't good at math, like me could understand clearly. Genuinely considering changing my major to math thanks to him.
good professor
He explains every abstract definition vividly! It seems that he does not always follow the sequence in the textbook, however, his path is more logical and easier to understand.
Maybe Ranjan Panth is one of the best math professors at Boston University. His homework, quiz, and exams are directly related to his lectures. When the class test score is very low, he will save you with a big curve.
Not a terrible instructor: fairly clear in lectures, accessible outside class, and tests aren't too difficult.. but if you really want to learn the content, not the guy for you, as he teaches the bare minimum.
Funny, and acts like he actually cares about calculus and the topics involved. Often told stories about non-school related topics but always ended up finishing the material in class time.
Professor Panth was great at explaining concepts and linking them to applications in the real world. Also, he was mad chill and funny. Tests are very fair and homework is light. Make sure to attend his weekly office hours as he explains exactly how to solve all questions for weekly quizzes.
He is one of the best professors in BU! The lectures are efficient, clear and excellent! He will never give you hard grade if you work hard!!!
If you have the choice, take him for calc. If you just do the bare minimum - show up to lectures and discussion, and do the weekly homework, it should be an easy B or A, even if you struggle with calc. He genuinely cares that his students understand the information being taught, and he will stop class if needed to walk through confusing topics.
Very good at explaining complex topic in an understandable way. Tests were not difficult and told us the quiz questions before we had to take the quiz.
He is my top 2 professor i had at bu he is amazing so caring
The exams were quite difficult, however Panth is one of the best professors at BU. He is really good at teaching and cares about all his students. He is very approachable, and yeah all-round a really nice dude.
This was one of my favorite professors at BU. He is so nice and kind, and one of the people who genuinely wants people to succeed. He teaches for knowledge, not just to the test. He is funny and inspirational, and is always aware of his students' responsibilities outside of his own class. He makes his courses manageable. I loved having him!
Best math professor at BU. If you want to succeed in this class, you MUST go to each lecture although attendance is not mandatory. Tests are easy and fair, and he will make sure to reach the class average to 80.
He really cares about helping students learn the material and offers so many office hours outside of class. However, if you miss one lecture, you might be really behind because he didn't do recordings for the majority of the class.
He is the nicest math professor I've met so hard. If you go to lecture and do homework you should get like a A-. He likes participation, and his classes are really interesting,
He is an expert on the topic and a great communicator. Take his class. A++
Panth is an excellent professor. Though he doesn't normally record the lectures,(students are supposed to go to lectures), he demonstrates concepts clearly and give breaks for students to learn more efficiently. Grading criteria are quite reasonable, as long as you do all the homework and quiz questions, you would be able to handle the exams well!
Professor Panth is quite interesting both during lectures and outside class. He explains the concepts clearly with steps and would stop if any student have questions. The exams are highly related to the homework and quiz questions, so as long as you put in effort, it's not difficult to score well on the exams.
He is ideally amazing. I could say that Prof. Panth works hard to dedicate himself for y'all to understand. Homework is not heavy but it's important as it will be in the discussion quiz. His grading is completely fair if you ask him and obviously, he is available outside the class.
In the middle with him right now. Nice guy and decent lecturer but sometimes seems disorganized, jumping from contents to other distant contents. Fast-paced as well (makes sense). His notes are the worst part: sometimes you cannot recognize what he is writing because he uses the same color to highlight his tiny notes. Homework is so time consuming.
Absolute goat of BU math department. Don't hesitate if you have the chance to take his class. Just want you to learn. Super nice and caring, if you have any questions just go to his office hours, he'll help you there.
did a really good job at explaining the concepts and letting students know what to study for exams. attendance does matter, so as long as you attend lectures, you'll be good
If you can take his course, just take it, you'll never regret.
Exceptional at explaining concepts in class and encouraged questions. However, reaching him outside of class was nearly impossibly and he didn't teach certain topics that were on the final since it "wasn't his job to make the test". Also, didn't know my grade until the end of the semester which was super frustrating.
Great professor! Teaches the concepts well and the exams are not hard.
Professor Panth is awesome - he breaks down complex concepts clearly and makes the workload manageable. Using unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook really helped me ace this class.
Panth does a great job of making complex concepts easy to understand. Go to lecture listen and take notes!! He only posts empty slides and doesnt record lectures so you have to go if you want to succeed! Exams are reasonable and problems are similar to ones in class and on quizzes. Doing the practice exams is very helpful and a good way to study.
Great professor for MA124
Funny guy who makes it fun to learn. He makes concepts easier to understand but still requires lot of effort to do well on tests and quizzes. Cool guy who made the environment funny while still teaching us the material.
Super nice guy but extremely disorganized as a professor. Definitely take him but the disconnect between lectures and exams is pretty significant.
This guy is just funny lol
BEST CALC PROF! Taking him right now, and he really makes sure students understand what we are doing. He holds zoom office hours every Sunday where he does the discussion worksheet which is SO helpful for weekly quizzes. Overall, he REALLY cares about his students and wants them to succeed, but is also super funny and loves to crack jokes. TAKE HIM
BEST PROF. I am taking 124 right now and LOVE Panth. He really, really cares about his students' success. He holds zoom hours where he does the upcoming discussion worksheet which REALLY helps for the weekly quizzes. He is also super hilarious and loves to crack jokes. One of the best teachers I have EVER had and couldn't recommend him enough!!!!!!
Lectures are clear and logical. The material is not that confusing, and if you do the work, you can definitely get an A. You should go to lectures and at least listening to the information is important. He gives students every tool to succeed, so your grade depends on how much effort you put in.
Was hard to understand at first but I adapted to his teaching style over time. Most of lecture is context for the topic being learned, then practice with the concept. The background info (graphs, review of basic algebra/geometry) is super helpful as well as the extra help zoom meetings he has throughout the semester.
tests and hw are standardized so prof panth is not responsible if it's hard. very awesome and kind prof. rlly reccomend ppl to go to his OH
Professor Panth is amazing. He's so funny and explains things so clearly. The exams are really easy if you go to class and actually pay attention in lecture. The quizzes are hard,. but he has sessions on Sunday nights to explain every question that could be on the quiz. Overall, one of the best profs in the math dept
Would give him ten stars if I could. Genuinely cares about our success and holds office hours Zoom Sunday night to help us with quizzes and review sessions. Best prof I've taken so far. You need to put in the effort though homeworks are difficult but that's not his fault it is standardized.
L Hi this is I w
Is able to explain hard concepts in a simple way, uses a lot of comparisons with real world examples to explain concepts. Exams are fair and similar to problems done in class.
This guy is the KING. He cares about the students and keeps lectures lively. So horrified by the fact that he's taking a leave next semester and cant take him for Multivariable Calculus. Could not suggest more for Calc 2.
Great professor, holds weekly zoom sessions for discussion quizzes. Lectures are fun and informative. If you attend lectures, do the homework, and do the weekly discussion sheet, exams shouldn't be too bad.
I usually do not like math classes but Prof. Panth was so great. He would go over discussion worksheets in office hours and it really helped on the quizzes. Very chill guy, I ended up in the ER when I had to take my final and he was super understanding and helped me figure out another time to take it. Really great professor overall.
Best teacher I have ever had, definitely join his Sunday office hours, the class is super easy if you attend those and go to lecture. I also thought homework was challenging but extremely helpful.
he gave us hershey kisses during the final
Amazing lectures, very understanding professor. Fair exams
Panth is a sweetheart. He is very caring and takes questions seriously. Show up to the lectures and his Sunday Zoom sessions where he reviews the next week's worksheet that quizzes are based on. He also holds multiple review sessions for midterms. Definitely practice a lot if math is not your strong suit. Highly recommend!
Professor Panth is humorous, entertaining, and is good at explaining complex math topics using simple language. The course is difficult, and there is a lot of work to do outside of lecture, but if you do it all, you'll be fine. Panth is available for questions after lecture and is readily available during his twice-weekly office hours.
Great lecturer!
Dr. Panth is the best. He does everything in his power to make sure you succeed, and I promise you that if you put in the time and effort you will get an 'A'. I'm sad he's taking a leave of absence, we will miss you Dr. Panth! Thanks for being an awesome professor. Genuinely such a nice/caring guy.
Dr. Panth is a kind, funny, and practical person, and a very well prepared and engaging lecturer, so much so that I attended class despite having taken calculus II in high school. He gives great insight into the material and will not allow to fail assuming you put in the effort to reach out to him (from what I've heard).
Panth is clearly an awesome professor, and liked to use a lot of real-world examples to help us in our learning. He's a really personable guy and one of the funniest teachers I've had in a while. His teaching allowed me to be successful in the class and I 1000% recommend taking him as a professor for MA124 if possible.
Amazing and Hilarious professor! He explains the material very well and loves answering questions. There are weekly discussion quizzes that give you a good idea of what exam questions could be on. He holds review sessions before exams and is overall an awesome guy. I would highly recommend you take him!
