Worse teacher I have ever had. Can't teach and homework is a waste of time. Powerpoints aren't even hers, she can't even read it herself. Quiz, homework, and powerpoints can't even help you with the test.

Taking mrs Segal's class was a good waste of my hard earned $184.She mystifies the subject.Her lectures? you don't understand a thing.Total waste of time and money.

....Why? Why did you take the time to read this when you already saw the blue frowning face by here name?....Why?

This is not a teacher you want to have if you are planning to learn the subject. Very weird way of teaching where you don't really learn much. Definitely not this one. NOOOO

I know you did not think that this teacher would be a choice. So try again. Look for a professor other than this one. Go already!

Worst teacher I've ever had. Im a straight A student and I dropped her class. You cant follow her lecture, homework is a dissaster, and labs are even worse. If you have her, be prepared to spend lots and lots of time in the science learning center

DO NOT TAKE! I had to drop after a week because she was so unclear. I can't blame her for everything because I had not a great knowledge of the subject, but she gets very upset if you make a mistake.Can not understand her talking and her writting is not clear at all.Wait till you take her class before you buy a book because she might not make you.

This Prof tends to throw out racial slurs against american students. SHe may be knowledgable on the subject, but does not know how to connect with the students. She is mean and obtrusive...DO NOT TAKE...

DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER! RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN! She did make a comment about Americans today in class, I commented on it then she must have decided to cover up by giving us extra credit! I think that if I skipped her class and went to the science learning center and only being there for quizzes.... I would have a better chance at passing.

I always heard bad things about this professor but i ignored it and decided to take her as a challenge. Little did I know, SHE IS A REALLY HORRIBLE TEACHER! She's dishonest, careless, and ignores questions. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER COURSE!!

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS! she is horrible, doesnt know how to teach, she shows power point presentations all the time but she talks before showing it so by the time she clicks on the powerpoint she just goes through all the slides without letting you take notes. RUN WHILE YOU CAN!!

If you are planning on taking Chemistry at TCC Southeast, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!! She does not teach and thinks that when you come into class you know chemistry. we had a large class at the first and are now down to a small class. She uses web assign and it bites. Take ayers, dollar or Turner. I would avoid Segal like the plague. Belie

Just a heads up. Dr. segal sent an email to her students to get on this and rate her good 4/9/09. Anything previous to that is the truth. I have had 4 years of Chemistry and haven't learned a thing. Put it this way she is finishing Chapter 9 and the other professors are on 5 or 6. She does not go into detail or anything

Dr. Segal is the worst Chemistry professor I have ever had. I thought I was going to be taught, but that was not the case. We walked in the first day and we were told bring any chem textbook. She uses webassign, which bites if you don't put the info in right. AVOID LIKE AN STD. She needs to go back to UTA.

Dr. Segal sent an email to her students asking us to make her sound good (email sent on 4.9.) I hate to break her heart, but she is the worst. She doesn't teach and she doesn't explain. Yes this is college, but we need to know what we need to learn. No explanation, must teach yourself. Those higher up than her don't care and wont do anything.

Hey Prof, If you want to improve your rating here, maybe you shouldn't try to cheat. Maybe you should, I don't know, take in what people are saying and you should actually improve your teaching style so your students can actually learn. Because this is really really sad.

She's outright the worst teacher I've ever had. She always seem like she has a yelling problem and every time I went up to ask her a question, she would cut me off and answer something totally different. It was never helpful. I had her for both lab and lecture and it was just nightmare. Avoid taking her unless you are up for a giant challenge.

A very bad teacher. She doesn't explain the material, she gives questions about things she never even mentioned, she is lazy and careless for what goes on in the lab and then she tells you it is your problem you are not scoring well. I dropped today. the class started with 28 and today it has 14 students only. She is THE WORST. Don't take her!

Ranjana, stop giving yourself these good reviews. You maybe a good chemist but you are far away from being even a half way decent teacher. NOBODY would ever recommend Segal. Just ask any student who took her! She is lazy, mean, rude, and can careless about the students

I already have my masters and I am back to school for a different major. In my years as a scholar, Ranjana is by far the WORST teacher I have ever had. Don't tell me she teaches how to study for college. I am a graduate of USC so don't give me nonsense about she is good for students who want to study. Simply don't take her! She's the worst ever!

I am an A student and I spend HOURS daily at the science center just to make up for her not teaching us anything. She is mean, rude, and doesn't give much extra credit. Questions are way too hard most of the time and average grade is a C, so don't tell me all these student are lazy or stupid. SHE IS BAD, BAD BAD, run while you can

She is an incompetent teacher. The worst you can do to yourself to hurt your GPA, lose your time and money for nothing is to take her. TCC and Dept of science are to blame for keeping her around.

Segal is a very bad teacher. I am a parent of a student. And my daughter ended up getting a b in the class. My daughter did her best and she studied hard. During the classes the class fell completely on the students. Segal didn't teach them any and she gave them hard questions. My daughter is retaking the class. Don't take her

She took forever to respond to emails, had the wrong date for the final on her syllabus, and has no clue how to work Blackboard. She is unfair and does not care about the students, she makes it very clear by her lack of intrest in emails, when she finally responds.

Awful. She doesn't explain anything. I'm learning more from Google and YouTube than anything she has attempted to teach us.

Don't take her. I have a 98, but it's because I stopped reading her outdated powerpoints, and used the book's online powerpoints. She is very unorganized. The first quiz was over an older version of the website used for DL, and it still counted even when I argued with her. Just don't take her. Unless you want to teach yourself.

She sucks. She doesn't explain. She doesn't care to help you understand. If you don't get it she basically tells you it's your problem. Don't take her.

The Professor lacked the ability to properly teach the class for success. Wasn't very helpful on questions that were asked. When you emailed her for help she would said read the book or that the online work would help clarify. Overall, I would suggest to go to any other professor but this one.

She was very unclear all semester and took long to reply to any emails. Syllabus was incorrect when it came to grading policies. She does not give you any reviews for tests (when taking it online) and all tests are in the testing center. The final is a comprehensive test over all 16 chapters. Very disappointed with her lack of availability.

I made an A by reading the book. She is hard to understand and she words things weird, she yells at you to hurry constantly and assigns lots of things due during class while continuing to teach. In lab she never once walked around to supervise. She is RUDE. If you ask a question, prepare to be yelled at &ridiculed. Definitely do not recommend her.

I took her for lab and it was good and bad. On one hand she's very rude when you ask questions and it was hard to understand when she lectured. She tried to connect with students by making jokes and she was very lenient on our lab reports. Her exams are really hard though and I studied a lot but never felt prepared. I would have taken someone else.

I took Dr. Segal for the online class this past Spring. She is not at all helpful and her emails do not make any sense. If you study a lot by reading the textbook and working the problems, you can pull a good grade. I made an A but I put in a lot of study hours each week.

Online Homework 10% of Grade , weekly extra credit, drops 3 quizzes out of 10, drop 1 test grade. Whats on quiz is on the Test. Give (2) chapter test, if you take MWF class, this is a plus in a Chemistrty Class. She does not teach with clarity. You will have to seek other resources,but with a 25% lab , homework, extra credit and quizzes, you do ok

Very personable teacher. However, she outlines the chapters on the board with little explanation as to how answers are derived. I learned more from YouTube, Yahoo Answers and the Science Learning Center. Be prepared to memorize details from text for tests. If you want a good grade and to learn more, take another teacher. Highly NOT RECOMMENDED.

This class is the worst class to take. Took it this semester bad idea. If you take this class you better get a tutor right away to help you understand this class. She has an indian accent which is not the problem, the problem is her teaching that is not good. Doesn't explain anything and not clear. Her lab is easy midterm and final is hard.

This is my first review and it is to save your lives! WORST professor I have ever met and only had her for lab. Dr. Dollar and Ayers are WAY better. She's rude and will humiliate you. Reviews are NOTHING like the midterm or final in lab. I actually got my first "B" here but it cancelled out with my high A in chemistry with ANOTHER teacher. RUN AWAY

This is my first year in college. I've taken Summer 1 & 2 classes to get ahead with my associates degree. I'm straight out of high school and college so far is pretty good. However, Professor Segal is one of the most difficult teachers to understand. I'm currently enrolled in her class and nothing she says has a relative connection. Please beware.

This was the WORST TEACHER I have ever taken. She barely speaks english but she rushes through lectures. Her lab she treats you like a child and then spaces out. She does not give homework and tells you to learn on your own. She will say this won't be on the test and that topic will be the test. She does not explain well.. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!

Really disappointing, she makes all of TCC look awful. Her lectures are terrible and her tests and quizes have nothing to do with them. You have to really go to the SLC after every lecture and spend a few hours having someone else teach you the material. My first B, and I have to retake the class now. Thinking about leaving TCC since they hired her

If you are considering taking a Chem class, I'd suggest not taking it with this professor. Wonderful lady personally; but I can honestly say that I learned absolutely nothing. A lot of time used figuring out what was due. Course organizer never updated to assigned edition. Any update requested, advised to "match the topic to chapter". BIG NO NO for online class. I have her currently this semester. She is extremely hard. And Chemistry is not an easy subject. And apparently she is trying something new. We have an online chem 1 book. Although the book was free, she hardly ever actually opens it. She just skims through it and throws random things up onto the board. We are constantly told to read about it at home and learn it at home. How are we supposed to learn if we have no clue what's even going on?! She does try to enunciate, but it is still very hard to understand her. I will not be taking her again. I will also tell my friends to avoid her classes at all costs.

This is hands down the worst professor I've ever had. No reviews except for lab finals which are provided departmentally. In lecture, she simply scrolls through an online book and sometimes provides hard to follow examples. It feels like there is no structure. You are required to take pop quizzes. I will receive an A from self-taught, but barely.

This professor is hard to follow in class! All she does it puts the online textbook on the board. She puts on examples and puts the answers on there before we had a chance to work out the problem our selves. She puts the formulas on the board afterwards. All semester long she just proved to me that she didn't know how to do these problems herself.

Makes mistakes when grading, lectures do not convey their message clearly. No homework (although it is very needed) because of this there is no chance to practice what you are lectured unless you go through the process of going and getting your own homework where she has no clear instructions to find. Only lectures and tests.

Teacher talks the WHOLE class period. Her lectures are very hard to understand because of her accent and how fast she talks. She does not provide any practice or test reviews. She drops 2 lab grades and no test grades. Do not expect her to help you because she assumes you should know everything. DO NOT TAKE HER! You'll thank me later

In lecture professor will project online textbook to the class and skims through important information. She pulls questions out of the book but without showing how questions are worded She will write on the board the entire lecture without explaining anything so that when class is over you look down at the notes confused. Taught through YouTube.

Professor taught straight from book and did not clarify and would just through some stuff on board and expect for us to know without any clarification. Relied heavily on going to SLC for them to teach us which they did way better. Do not take her if you have a choice. If you dont, good luck charlie.

She gets frustrated when students ask too many questions so its really hard to learn. Be prepared to learn on your own and have a pop quiz every other day

This professor has quizzes almost every class. One time we had to finish a lecture and there was a quiz at the end of class. Amount of time to study? Five minutes. It is impossible to pass because she complains almost every day about how the students are failing and doesn't change how she teaches at all. Good luck in this class.

Worst teacher Ive had, in fact she is so bad she inspired me to write my first review. Lectures are horrendous and her ability to teach is non-existent. However, she can lecture us on being so young that we are worthless and that the school itself is to blame for our poor grades. Always defends her actions and doesnt answer any questions we ask

This is a VERY difficult professor. She is VERY test heavy. The tests are lengthy require a lot of time to do, and are difficult. Heavy, dedicated studying is absolutely required. Study your lecture material AND your labs. Tests will be given on both. The science learning center has study sessions specifically for this professor.

Professor does not explain topics correctly. Blames students for having low grades but whenever you go to her office to ask her a question she does not explain it. Always tells you to go to SLC. The tests sometimes have questions that she never covered in class. Might as well just watch chemistry videos on youtube and teach it to yourself :/

AWFUL CLASS, so unorganized, you have to email her every week to ask about deadlines because she never has a syllabus with actual dates. online class but she wanted us to take tests on campus, lab is LOTS OF WORK, treats you like high schoolers and grades lab reports harder than actually universities! Dr. Segal was by far the worst professor I've ever had. In one of my labs so students accidentally caught something on fire, because she never told us what to do; and instead of watching and helping us during lab she would be on Skype. She also would get mad at us if we asked any questions. I only passed the class because of the extra credit.

She is the horrible professor ever in TCC Southeast campus!!!! Horrible!!!! I am remembered that happened that she did not teach her students in lab safety. She won't care about this class. Everything is her fault for student got accident on fire in lab.

don't take if you care about your gpa. doesn't teach, gets mad when asking questions, complains about getting bad reviews but says she doesn't care and it's the students fault they failed. you'll have to teach yourself. leaves you alone during labs. expects you to understand everything when she doesn't explain. talks more about anything but chem.

I had to drop her class because of how bad it was pls pls pls don't take the risk of having her as a professor. I really tried to do my best but she would not teach, she gets side tracked a lot! and gets mad when you don't know the answer to a question. I wish her the best but is not worth it for the students to waist their time.

Dr. Segal was one of the worst professors I've ever had. A friend and I used to work together and she got an A while I got a C when we had the same homework answers. Her response when I brought it to her attention was: OH well, tell the dean. I am a minority and my friend is not so take it how you want.

She knows the material, but she is so bad at teaching the material. She just writes on the board and talks. She doesnt break down the calculations or anything. I learn the concepts better on YouTube and in the science learning center. When she teaches the material, she over complicates it. She does give extra credit opportunities for the exam.

Kind of feels like shes teaching herself chemistry all over again during lectures. If you ask any questions, she doesnt really answer them. She reads off her powerpoints and anything that might look important she skips or goes through really fast.

I wish I would've read reviews before taking her. All she does is do examples on the board and barely explains what she is doing. The majority of the class did so poorly on a exam she let us retake it but was rude and said "I don't understand how so many failed, it's easy". On the plus side she uses a free online book for lecture.

I hate thus professor. Not only is she hardly understandable with her thick accent, but she doesn't know how to teach. Schools need to stop hiring teachers with credentials and hire teachers that people can understand. In lectures, you'll be completely lost. She has an accent thats so hard to understand and her class smells like onions idk from what tbh. I dropped this class because of how rude she is and how unwilling she is to help students. make the extra drive to another campus because her class is not worth it. You will have to learn the material yourself because she can't teach.The Lab was a nightmare. During our first lab she turned off Bunsen burners for no reason. Most of us did not finish she took points off even though she was the reason we didn't finish in the first place
