Go to class, there is participation marks, and all her notes are pretty much what the test will be on. Just focus on lecture notes and read the textbook based on those. 2 midterms, take home exam, a group assignment. She provides lecture notes, which are pretty much what she explains in class. Just know which slides she focuses on more.
Not an easy class for a 100 level course. A lot of reading involved and group work in class. The professor was helpful during class but assignments were marked hard and so were the test.
Nice lady, but difficult marker. Makes you do group work then helps guide you during class. Even marked the pointers she gave wrong for a few assignments. A lot of work is needed for this course.
A lot of reading and assignments involved in this course. She gives good advice for assignments but she marked her own advice wrong on a couple of assignments. Not an easy elective at all.
lol the person that gave her a perfect score is such a troll. Shows that she cares but assignments are difficult, exam wasn't too bad but i thought I did better. Mandatory in class assignments.
There is absolutely no clarity when it comes to testsonline quizzes. Being unable to go back and figure out which questions you got wrong on the weekly quizzes screwed over the majority of the class for the midterm. Awkwardly worded questions leave you guessing for the answer, and if you try to point that out she stubbornly denies it.
Not a bad prof, course is pretty good. Thick Indian accent and knows her stuff. Don't talk in class or she will rip on you. Nice lady however. Marks fair, tests are kinda tricky. Class is mainly group projects so pick good partners! Also she uses name tags which is kinda unorthodox. attendance is MANDATORY. she uses name tags too which is weird
i hated the class only because of her! you will regret taking a course with her
RANJITA IS THE BEST!! She is absolutely hilarious and made this class so much more fun than it would have been otherwise. The work load wasn't too bad and she always made sure that we understood things. One of my favourite profs, she's hysterical! I was a bit scared of her at first but now I realized she's amazing ! Highly recommend
Ranjita is a hilarious lady, but she doesn't realise how funny she really is! I loved her as a prof because she was clear, helpful and really cared about you as an individual. I am taking BSM200 with and making sure I get her as a prof since I liked her so much!
She's a great lecturer and she explains concepts really well. Some people get really intimidated by her but she's funny and as long as you pay attention in classes and somewhat do the readings, you should do well. I really like her overall. She's also a cute little prof lol.
Ranjita is honestly the best prof I've had so far. Not only is she always ensuring that students understand the material, she's hilarious and really kind as well. She has reasonable expectations of in-class behaviour and marks fairly.
Ranjita is quick with her slides. Her course is boring. The material isn't very engaging. I do not recommend this course for people who can't sit still for a long time because being stuck in a room with her for 3 hours talking about business is the worst.
Final exam was not representative of our knowledge learned in class.
She marks really hard on exams but a great teacher!
Ranjita is a boss.. if you are able to pay attention all class, you barely need to read the textbook because she goes over everything in detail. Her sass is out of this world
Guidelines and marking scheme is not clear. The tests were pretty confusing and did not reflect the material learned well.
Ranjita is one of my favourites! Although she is unclear at times, she is willing to clarify. The best part about Ranjita is that she is funny without realizing it! The in-class videos and work is helpful for understanding material. I found the midterm/exam to be fair. Group project was a pain, esp. because the outline was not specific enough.
She works to make the lectures engaging by encouraging students to participate and break the class down into lecture, group discussion and activities. If you don't study you will not be successful, and studying is beyond memorizing the information. This is fair for a university course. I actually enjoyed the material.
A representation of class: Spend entire semester learning about: Chemistry. Ranjita hands you an exam titled: Physics *spend a moment freaking out* Realize test is 50 questions about my favourite colour Hand in test Receive 95% Spend a semester contemplating the purpose of Uni - oh LoL Ranjita cant find the volume button again. Silly Ranjita
Best advice I can give to you for BSM100 is to buy the textbook! She works directly off of it. She's a great prof, she'll take time to explain in class if you don't understand and is accommodating outside of class. She will put effort into you understand the material if you put effort into it as well. Strict, but develops soft spot.
Ranjita is a super tough marker. This class is really rough, I barely even passed!!! I studied REALLY hard, too. Study hard, friends, it'll be a rough ride.
This class is business basics, so it can be a bit repetitive if you took business in high school. Ranjita always has good energy and if you tell her you don't get it, she will help you try and understand a concept better. She asks questions to students randomly a lot. She is always surprisingly funny and has a good sense of student life.
The people that give her feedback must not go to class. She is so knowledgeable and so passionate about business. If you put in the work she will help you out, and really make the class worth while. She is super nice, and really funny. Would highly recommend
questions and example in class are easy, but makes them much more complex on the exam. Good luck if you need it to boost your gpa.
Ranjita knows her stuff & is amazing at making sure you understand. She connects material to Apple and we watch a lot of Dragon's Den! I loved her, she understands student life and is low-key shady which is so funny!! only need the BUSN textbook for the course, take good lecture notes and you'll do fine. not a hard course just put in basic effort.
I like Ranjita! She is hilarious without realizing it and her lectures are very informative. However, her midterm and exam was super difficult; I found a lot of things worded very tricky. She is a great prof who knows her stuff and is willing to help you via email, office hours, or in class. I have her next semester and hope her exam isn't so hard.
She is not always clear in her lectures and tests but overall she is a good teacher. She's funny, worked hard to make her 3 hour lecture interesting, and will REALLY help you during office hours if you need additional help. She's just generally a friendly lady too. I liked her class
Great lecturer, really interested in applied learning and running with it. Likes to randomly call on students for answers. Fair warning, be sure to sit up front - otherwise you won't be able to hear her OR read the chalkboard. Singh is an excellent prof to go to if worried about your work in the class - she'll remember you and check in when needed!
Ranjita is sometimes hard to understand but she is a great professor. BUY THE BOOK. and READ IT. It will help a lot before class and prepare you when she puts you on the spot to participate. She tries to constantly make sure that you understand the material so although she can be intimidating, ask questions in class or outside. She's super funny 2!
I had Ranjita for BSM100 &200, she was great for both. Although when I took BSM200 it was a flipped format, she wanted to teach us the content however had to hold back on lectures as its not part of a "flipped" format but you can tell she cared when we didn't understand, and would work with you and your group to make sure you understood. She ROCKS
She is unclear in her explaining and what she writes on the board in intangible. I certainly won't be having her again. Somewhat funny at times, but the overall course is just so boring.
Go to class and pay attention! It can be hard sometimes to keep up with what she's writing on the board, but it's usually on the exams so ask questions and keep up. Do your readings and ask her questions if you don't understand. She cares about students understanding the material and will take the time to re-explain things. Overall a great prof!
Good sense of humor! but super hard marker!! I can never understand what she's saying because she talks way too fast and her writing is very unclear! You NEED to come to every class because most work id done and explained on the board, so make sure you listen and write exactly what shes talking about! Overall not a bad prof, just a hard marker.
Get ready to fail!! she talks too fast, notes are messy and her midterm exam was the heaviest midterm i've taken. You can't skip class if you want to pass and theres a major group project.
great class! she makes the class interesting. but, you need to take good notes, attend all classes and work hard. her exam mulptiple choice questions are paragraphs so be prepared!
Very challenging course for a first-year student, very tough exams, be prepared to do on the spot presentations, lots of group work. Not easy at all.
She is my favourite prof at Ryerson so far!!! It is a challenging course, but she definitely is an amazing prof. She explains everything so clearly, such an easy prof to talk to, she's hilarious, makes the class soo interesting you wouldn't want to miss any lectures, and she really tries hard to tell you what steps to take to succeed in the course.
Love her. Amazing prof!! Makes it known what steps to take to succeed and is always available to help. Will definitely take another class with her again!
She talks very fast, and her lectures are really hard to follow. Can't keep up with note-taking.
She is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the course material however, lectures are very hard to keep up with. She talks way too fast, which makes taking notes nearly impossible. Lots of group work. Midterm for this course was brutal. Overall, I did learn a lot from this course, but it was challenging.
very knowledgable prof, who seems to care about her students, but her exams are so hard!! topics she said would be very important for the exam appeared as a multiple choice question and others that she brushed over were long answer questions! Great prof in class but when exam time comes make sure you know everything inside and out.
Ranjita Singh's lectures are by far some of the most interesting lectures I have attended. She has weekly group assignments which are really easy, so DO NOT MISS! However, be aware of her midterm b/c it was HARD. She makes it seem like its going to be very easy but you have to know EVERYTHING VERY WELL. Study hard from tb and slides and easy B tho
Ranjita is passionate and she really wants to help anyone that is struggling. Her marking is really fair for the group projects. She tends to talk fast but she always asks if anyone has any questions or need anything to be repeated or clarified. Her midterm is a bit difficult but if you study everything she says, you will be good:) She's great!
Ranjita's lectures are amazing, pay attention and take note of everything. She really emphasizes what she'll test you on and if you take note of that you will be fine for the midterm and final. She's really funny and knowledgable and an all around great prof. Biggest tip is just take note of literally everything she says. Made studying so easy
Great lady with a great sense of humour. Online readings/quizzes are easy marks. I really enjoyed this class and found the content super easy to understand and also useful. Exams aren't as bad as these reviews make them seen, just review lecture slides and maybe redo a few online quizzes.
Absolutely horrible. Her online classes are rubbish. She talks extremely fast and doesn't record her lectures. She is very condescending with her students and most keep their cameras off because she calls on the people with their cameras on. Doesn't cover all required materials for the tests and doesn't give out reviews like the other profs. 0/10!
She talks for 2.5 hours straight with a 10-minute break. Doesn't record lectures. Can be condescending and rude at times. You have to buy a textbook that is completely useless. You could do the exams without referencing the textbook once. That being said, what's being taught is pretty straight forward so if you attend lectures, you can do well.
Don't know about in-person lectures with her but online was not it. Refused to record lectures, rude to students, got irrationally mad when people wouldn't turn on their cameras, wrote on a white board on zoom (so hard to see), and not helpful. Material is pretty easy though. I was supposed to have her again this semester so I switched.
She will challenge you if you answer a question and you'll always be wrong according to her. She's more of a coach then a teacher she will attack you if you are caught not paying attention and question everything. Judges people a-lot and will talk over you if she doesn't like what you're saying. I do not know how she qualifies to teach this course.
She is extremely rude in class and over email, very argumentative, gives conflicting / confusing feedback, and is just unpleasant to deal with. I really would avoid this professor if you can.
honestly i thought she was terrible while taking the course but realized after that she puts in alot of effort to teach us during lectures which many other profs arent doing right now. She might be mean at times but just make sure to be on her good side and youll be blessed. A little unclear on some things like finance but other than that it is ok.
She Is not an awful professor, you can tell she wants you to do well, but that being said sometimes the lectures are hard to follow. The financial equations part of the course was not taught well, but you can still do well in the class if you put the time in and study. The textbook is literally not required at all tho, don't buy it
You can definitely tell she is knowledgeable about the content in this course. However, the teaching style often was confusing. I felt like I had to teach myself and the midterm exam was hard even given extensive revision because it was based on stuff never covered. Marks rely heavily on group work and exams.
Initially I was scared of her because she would call on students and sound very condescending. Honestly though if you do your readings and show up prepared and ready to listen (to her talk for 2-2.5 hours) then you'll be fine. If you ask a question, she really tries to help you understand the concept. Her class gets better as it goes on.
Initially, I heard this course was extremely hard from previous students. Although I didn't look at rate my prof before taking Ranjita. She was a very good professor, as long as you attended all classes and she encourages participation. I would definitely take her again!! It's an easy A as long as you attend classes.
I heard this was the hardest course at Ryerson but I ended up getting an A. Barely studied for the exams, they were open-book and material was so easy. The key is to READ THE CASE GUIDELINES thoroughly and start the papers early!! She gives case feedback each class and it helps to apply that for your own papers. She did more than other profs. 10/10
- Hard grader - good lectures and feedback - would take again
Very knowledgable in her field, seems like a sweet and caring lady but she can be very rude to students if they aren't understanding the material. In terms of marking, it must be exactly what she wants or you won't get a good mark. Side note: her hand writing is absolutely terrible, good luck trying to read it.
IDC what anyone says, she is the best teacher I've ever had. She teaches in a clear, engaging, and knowledgeable way; that being said if you fall asleep or don't attend don't expect to pass. She can be a little harsh at times, but she will not hesitate to explain things several times even if only one student doesn't understand. I respect her a lot.
would avoid her if I could, her midterm and final was only out of few questions which was terrible, never prepares her students for them, also she is irritating. RUN AWAY.
Content and readings themselves are lengthy and time-consuming but not terribly difficult. Nothing from this class made me wanna be there, it's your average business course. She is a fairly decent prof, gives great detailed feedback but sometimes harsh. Overall not an awful prof. Would not take again unless necessary. Pay attention to the lectures!
Does not care about students in the slightest. If there is a mishap with handing in anything, it is automatically your fault. Doesn't offer help in any situation and doesn't enjoy getting and answering questions. Zero understanding that things happen and get in the way and little to no empathy for struggling students.
Will make you stressed all the time. Midterm and Final were hard. If you don't study well, attend her lecture, and do the readings then you will fail this course. However, she teaches well as you will understand any concept/lesson cause she explains it well. She is a VERY tough grader. There are group projects that are long and not worth much.
She was the worst prof I've ever had. She has no respect for the students and was always condescending. Her bad attitude made me never want to go to her lectures. If you want to have a terrible learning experience, then take her. But if you want a decent prof, then stay far away.
Prof Singh was horrible. Each time we had exam, we tested on things she never teached us. Totally unfair. She also very rude to many of us because we didnt understand or our first language not english. I dont know how this school keep her when she is such bad teacher.
I did not like her teaching style. She would spend too much time asking students to explain what they think concepts mean during lectures rather than actually explaining them. The exams had many IT and grammatical errors and were way too long to complete within the time given. Her response to which was very unhelpful and unapologetic.
Sorry to say but I hated this course and the teacher. It could have been a better course if the teacher was any good. She barely taught us anything. Lectures were useless and boring. All my learning was from just reading the textbook. There were times when she made me feel embarrased for asking a question she thought was "stupid". Dont take her.
for BSM100 I rated her 5, for BSM200 I have to say it went down; her lessons this time were still clear but I noticed her marking was extremely vague and unclear, also she hardly explained break-even which was very hard, and there were a lot of huge group assignments. I still like her but BSM200 was not it.
I wish this site had a rating lower than awful(a 1) because that is what I would give her. She was never clear on the grading expectations and her powerpoints were useless in helping to understand. I would say atrocious rather than awful. If you want an enjoyable semester, avoid her at all costs.
Prof Singh was the worst prof I've ever had. She was so condescending and rude. If you asked a question she made you feel stupid. The exact opposite of how a teacher should be. I dropped her class as soon as I saw how bad she was. Why the school keeps someone like this is beyond me. Run!
Worst prof I've ever had. Doesnt clarify concepts and makes you feel bad when you ask a question. She made my semester a horrible experience. She has no clue how to resonate with us students in a positive way.
She doesnt explain anything clearly and made me feel uncomfortable for asking. Aweful does not describe her teaching skills well enough. I cant believe my high tuition goes to paying lousy profs like this to be at this University. They should get rid of her and bring in someone good. Anyone would be better.
She was so disorganized that it made this a difficult course to follow. I usually have much higher grades in my other classes, but because of her terrible organizational skills and terrible Powerpoint slides, she made following along so much more difficult than it need be. She does not care about the students and can be mean spirited. Aweful!
Lectures are extremely difficult to follow, and discussions are not engaging at all. Felt as though she was teaching the no prerequisite business course to students with a background in business. She often skipped over info on slides and going over the slides after lectures was next to useless because the seemed to lack coherent information.
The course itself wasn't hard to do well in but there are mandatory weekly readings and questions. There was also a group task in almost every class and these questions would either be easy or hard. The midterm and final exam were a mix of both easy and hard. Overall, do the readings and take notes because open book exams!!
I loved prof Singh & set up my schedule so I could have her again in s2. A little intimidating w nametags but shes really good at focusing on what her students find difficult & going over it until its understood. Group work was basic & easy extra marks, the exam was super easy & open book. Teaching style is enjoyable but heavy participation based.
absolutely horrible very rude, disrespectful, and childish, this psycho has no human decency. that's all I got to say she acts as if she does not get paid if we don't come or listen
she is annoying and mean and not understanding towards her students.
Strict and confusing at times. Her assignment outlines and feedback is unclear. She calls students out to answer along with picking groups to present weekly group tasks. Usually takes up the full 3 hours with a 10 min break. She wasn't good at teaching financial equations, but decent at other topics. Avoid her if you can.
The most disorganized prof I've had at GBC. She speaks unclearly and makes you feel bad when you ask for clarification. It boggles the mind that a College has a prof of this poor quality.
Her demeanour was very unwelcoming. I tried to approach her for guidance and clarification but she was unhelpful. professor really made me feel discouraged and unsupported. Lectures were super boring too.
Really difficult to actually learn and understand the material because there is so much thrown at you every lecture and it is presented in a very confusing manner. Difficult to do well + a stressful environment. Hard marker as well.
Ranjita is a great professor who changed my life for the better. She is very funny and does not deserve the bad grade she has.
She was the worst prof i've ever had so far at TMU. Hard to understand her English. She is not nice to the students. Very disorganized. Grading makes no sense and not made clear before the work is submitted. Cant understand how the Uni could hire someone so poorly qualified to teach.
Not respectful towards students and their needs. Scheduled midterm in the middle of a Saturday. The three-hour lectures hold all the course content, and she moves so fast that it's difficult to complete notes. She shows up to get paid - not a good professor.
What a lousy professor. She speaks in a way that is hard to understand. Not nice to students. Grading criteria was never made clear. Surely the university can hire someone much more competent who can explain things much more clearly. What a horrible experience. If she cared about students, she would resign.
She speaks a bit fast but makes an effort to make sure everyone is on the same page. She cares about participation and has a lot of questions throughout the lectures. She drops hints in the lectures about what's on the exam so if you pay attention you should be ok. Group work at the end of each lecture which is kind of annoying
What a miserable experience. She epitomizes everything wrong with a teacher. Lectures were unclear. Assignments were unclear. Care for students was non existant. How can the university keep such a poor teacher? She ruined the uni experience for so many of us because we dreaded going to this class. I'm not alone as you can see from other reviews.
Horrible. I wish I could add something new to what all the other students have already said. All I can do is confirm all the bad things that everyone else already said. No point in me repeating. I hope I never have her again. For the sake of all future students, the university should get rid of her and bring in a good teacher.
nah had to drop her class, shes low key rude.
Everything on here is true! I would give her a zero if I could she doesn't care about her students only here to get paid. Told us to basically "figure it out" when asked about the content for the midterms. RUDE ASF just don't take her. she needs to be fired.
She was the worst prof I ever had. Not helpful at all. Doesnt care about the students. Explains concepts very poorly. I have no idea how someone like that is able to teach at the University. Please TMU...if you are listening.....fire her and bring in a decent prof that knows what they are doing
Everything you read here is correct, worst business professor I have ever had in my academic experience as a student.
anything negative said was true
She's atrocious. Doesnt care one bit about the students. She is disorganized and doesnt want to answer questions. When she does answer them, she does it with disdain or confuses us even more. Poor attitude. I hope to never get her again. What all the other "awful" comments said below are so true. Any positive comments written are probably fake.
English is not my first language so I had a huge problems understanding her. She talks way too fast and unclear. I was intimidated to ask question. She not very helpful. She always too disorganized and PP slides insufficient to understand. She is not nice to students.
I only had Ranjita for half of a semester due to her going on leave but within that short time i could tell i wouldn't want her again. She was hard to understand and didn't really provide any help or support at all to the students in her class. Frequently she would yell or single out students if they didn't answer properly.
Ranjita class is hard to follow and her slides are boring. The courses she teaches aren't engaging. She pushes people to answer questions and gets angry at students for not saying the correct answer. She made this class more stressful then it needed to be and ended up leaving half way through the semester.
i only received this grade bc i honestly had to bribe my way with her + used notes from yarlagaddas class. this prof SUCKS. Batantly rude and hates her life so she projects that onto students. cant imagine it being a mother. so unorganized, strict, and refuses to give grades above 85 for assignments. needs to be kicked out asap.
She's nice and cares, but speaks way too fast and lectures are hard to follow and is all over the place.
if you see her... RUN
Now let me say im the biggest hater, i hate the way that she walk, the way that she talk, i hate the way that she dress
Extremely hard to understand what she's saying, goes too fast, and rude at times.
I cant think of a worse professor that I've ever had. How can the University allow something like this to teach. And I use the term "teach" loosely. It was a horrible experience. She doesnt treat anyone with respect. Hard to understand her words in addition to her bad attitude. I'd love a refund.
I loved having her this semester! She goes through content pretty quickly, but if you're struggling, she'll explain it again and again until you understand. She's a fairly easy marker and always provides feedback. She's also really funny, which made class entertaining.
Even though I got a good grade, there is no way I would ever want to take her again. She was often rude and uncaring. She speaks way to quickly and her accent makes it hard to understand. Grading criteria was also confusing and she made you feel bad trying to figure it out.
This course was frustrating enough that I feel compelled to warn future students. This professor made what could have been an interesting subject unnecessarily stressful and disorganized. Expectations and instructions were unclear. Asking for clarification usually didn't help, as questions were brushed off or met with condescending responses.
I understand why she doesn't have the most positive rating she will scold you for being on your phone and can be serious. But she cracks jokes at people, near the end of the semester i started to like her and am taking her class again next sem. During exams if you have any questions the only answer she gives is however you understand it..
