Shes a new professor this was her first semester teaching but she cannot teach!! if she was teaching in high school maybe she would be better but for College no way! Some of her lectures were a mess! She confuses students and she needs to realize she cannot teach with clarity if you want to learn you have to read the textbook.
Cannot teach! Avoid if you want to learn! This is a general ed class but her workload is like its your major! Stay away if you care about your GPA! you will end up dropping this class and will regret taking this professor
Harsh grader and hard exams,I failed this class Cannot teach so stay away there are so many other Anthro professors to take with experience, eventhough shes new and doesnt know what shes doing she expects you to really know Anthro if not youll fail
Makes you read a chapter before each session the reading was way to much. Her clarity was really bad but if you teach your self maybe youll pass but if you want an easy professor this is not the one or if you want to learn not her
never again will i take a professor that is teaching for the first time
This class was a requirement. Not too interested in anthro at the beginning but ended up learning quite a bit and got A+!! The visit to the museum turned out to be cool! no need to take notes! she gets a little picky with attendance so you better show up
What?? A- without even trying!! She gives review test with questions that are on the real exam!! Do not waste money buying the book! Read whatever she puts on bb a couple of times bf the exam and youll be fine.
stay away if you want to learn but if you like heavy work loads then take her you have to read long chapters weekly, i thought this was general ed not a major class
Professor Lopez was always there to help! She is great!
Shes a new professor! Stay away if you want to learn with a clear lecture. Maybe when she gains more experience she will be a good professor as for now shes not! Take someone els if you want to save your GPA and do well. This is coming from a student with a 3.7!
The exams were difficult. I really had to study on my own because her lectures were very confusing. Some lectures were really bad even she admitted it. Shes a new Professor, she has to learn to teach but dont be her experiment and play with your GPA! She will lower it!
She helped me a lot! She was always available after class. I missed a couple of lectures and she didnt mind going over the material with me. she has a great personality. I would recommend taking her!
difficult class you must show up everyday but exams arent easy and she cannot explain it very well so try to take someone els
Makes the class more difficult then it has to be! Lectures are all over the place no structure or clarity. overall she is very confusing. Queens college need to stop hiring grad school students to teach undergrad. Yes she is a grad school student!
Do not take this professor workload is a lot and requires a lot of studying! This is not an easy class with this professor she makes it very difficult. The exams are not easy at all. Avoid her before she ruines your gpa.
difficult professor and very hard exams! would not recommend for the common student, unless you are very smart in anthropology then you can take her if your taking this class for the general education requirement do not take. also you cant ever miss class after 3 days she will lower your grade substantially
get ready to study study study, the exams are very difficult, unless your major is anthro and your very smart at it then you can take if not stay away! also dont be absent she will lower your grade substantially. however shes not a bad person overall just her teaching is very bad and yet she gives hard exams
I had a great time with professor Lopez. She is very passionate about biological anthropology! Things were somehow boring during genetics which is a review from basic bio. She is in love with bones and primates and our ancestors! That was great stuff! She offers extra credit and you can meet with her to discuss things from class. Very helpful!
Very difficult and confusing
Raquel is awesome! A fun class
Great professor and great class. No need to buy the book. She provides all the material that you need for this class. Highly recommended!
Interesting class and very cool professor! There is a lot of cool stuff to learn from this class. Professor Raquel cares a lot about the topic and about all students. She gives extra credits that help a lot to understand the material. Beware, don't use the cellphone in her class!
Highly recommended! Easy A
What a great professor! She has a lot of energy! She always makes sure all students understand the material before moving on to the next topic. She is always willing to help no matter what. Yes, I will recommend professor Lamela to my friends!
Very interesting class. Highly recommended. Nice professor!
Easy class. Professor was very knowledgeable. No need to buy the book. Gives extra credit.
A must take. Amazing professor!
Raquel is great! I enjoyed every single lecture!! Totally worth it! Take her class!
Highly recommended professor. Extremely helpful and down to earth. She knows a lot!!!
I just want to say that prof Raquel is very nice! She wants everyone to understand the material and gives a lot of interesting examples. Also, she answers emails very fast! Yes, I would recommend her class to my friends!
easy A class, just need to have common sense about evolution.
Highly recommended. Cool professor and interesting stuff about evolution. I would definitely take another human evolution class with Raquel!
Three tests on various chapters. non cumulative. Very helpful, and there was extra credit on every test. Just listen in class and study a little before hand and its an A
you have to really try to fail this class, she gives multiple opportunities for extra credit and she even writes review sheets for every single test. Her pop quizzes aren't even pop quizzes she tells you when she will be giving out a quiz. Overall I would take her again, she is also very educated in her field and knows what she's doing.
Prof Lopez wants to make sure the class really understands the material! She gives out extra credit before exams and even adds bonus questions. She posts review sheets so that we know what to expect on the test. She makes you write down your own questions for participation but as long as you give one in every week you should be fine.
Incredible Good pro. My top one so far in QC, tons of tons extra credits to do for improving grades, clear and humorous lectures that I always enjoy, 3 fair exams . If you failed her class, lets be honest you did not go to classes or study at all.
She talks a lot but says little
I loved her so much! Raquel was so funny and her lectures really were amazing. She posts everything on Blackboard and occasionally gives extra credit for her exams, which are pretty easy to begin with as long as you pay attention in class and do the reading. She was definitely my favorite professor this semester.
Attend class. Take notes on the outlines she posts. I loved the outlines. Later for the species, you need to take notes on the PP. You must go to class and take notes. It was the people who didn't come to class that failed. She literally spoon fed us information during the second exam. Everything is very clear. She constantly repeats things.
Fantastic lecturer - keeps topic as interesting as possible and great sense of humor. Lots of chances for extra credit and provides review sheets for exams.
She's amazing. If you show up to class, read the textbook, and review the material YOU WILL PASS THE CLASS. Her exams are very direct and she gives bonus questions. She makes class as interesting as possible and repeats things about twenty times to drill it into us. She also gives review sheets and tells us what will be on the exam.
She is one of those people who woudnt let people who dont attend to pass. She's like a funny teenager teaching other teens. She spoon feeds us the exam and her bonus questions are funny. Take it from me, class is easy and simple.
Interesting course to take if you're just taking this course for credit. I enjoyed her teaching style. She reiterates everything that will be on the exams, almost gives you all the answers ahead of it. If you fail this class, it's because you just never showed up or didn't pay attention.
Raquel is a great professor, as she tries to make her lectures as interesting as possible. She goes over the material carefully, so one can fully understand. Although she makes things easy as possible be ready to read the textbook and don't suspect to pass if you don't study. She has a sense of humor and can always talk to her after class for help.
Great professor and super lenient on assignments. If taking for credit this is a good class for it. Bonus question on exam. If have prev bio knowledge will be a breeze. But attendance is taken.
A real gem! She is a caring professor and her lectures are fun.
Gives 3 exams and 5 simple homework assignments. There is a fair amount of material on each exam, but extra credit and curves make up for it. Attendance is taken and does not count much towards the grade, but she gives random extra credits you must be there for. All notes are posted on BB. Raquel is a fantastic, funny and very cool professor!
One of the best and easiest professors ive had this semester. 3 exams (inclucing final) and she tells you what will be on the exam in class so show up & pay attention. 5 short reading articles which she grades leniently. You don't need the textbook to get an A in the class. Review all the required slides before each exam and should be no problem
Not too hard of a class. Has a few assignments and 3 tests in total. She tells you many things that will be on the test so jot those down, and she posts test reviews on Blackboard so she gives you like 10 qs that will be on the test. It's just boring but she tries to keep it fun. My advice, print out the slides so you can listen rather than write
Raquel is so so so kind & funny. Only 5 Reading Response that everyone must complete, however, she gives a lot of room for you to write anything you want. Show up to class and take notes because she will tell you specific things that are going to be on the test. I would take her again.
My favorite professor this semester! Her lectures are funny and she really cares about students. She is always willing to give extra help during office hours so make use of the time. She tells us what will come up in the exam, but not in a way where we don't learn anything. Honestly, her passion for her subject is infectious. I recommend her class!
Extremely hard class to follow especially as the semester went on. Extra credit is given and the professor is available after class. After exam one I had to study for many hours for the next two exams, even after all the time I put in I did not feel prepared or receive the grade I felt I deserved for this class.
I'll be super honest if this is NOT your MAJOR please don't take this professor. Although she is nice she tends to forget this is not our major. Her review sheets have so much material that it will take hours and days to complete and understand the topics. Her slides were super confusing, helpless, and out of order for the final. Avoid if possible.
The greatest Anthro professor. She is clear on what she wants and gives very solid explanations if you have any questions. She is very down to earth and is always ready to help. If anyone is just trying to take a beginner's course, this class is for you! There is a lot of material but nonetheless, it was beyond my expectations.
Was 100% worth waking up early for. Professor Lopez basically makes it difficult to fail with detailed and clear lectures, multiple choice exams, and extra credit opportunities.
Whether you need credits or are just interested in anthro, you should definitely take this class! Raquel is funny and her lectures are super clear!.Literally just go to class, pay attention, and do the 5 simple assignments and you will do amazing.
personally think its a boring class where you learn dumb fact about monkeys. if you like learning about monkey teeth take the class...
Racquel is super funny ,easy to talk to , wants best for students , we had online class and at the end she became a little untimely with posting lectures , other than that she has quizes , short assignments and about 3 tests , once you study the sheets she gives you every class you'll do fine , the textbook isn't needed for the class to be honest
Although I only took this class for the credits, Professor Lopez made it an enjoyable experience. She inserts comedy throughout the lectures which made them more bearable as well as memorable. Super respectful of students, and expects the same respect. I would recommend her for this class. Three tests make up a large part the grade.
Prof Raquel is a great professor. Very interesting lectures. pay attention and you will do well.
She's a pretty good teacher, and very funny. Takes notes and you'll be prepared for exams. I took the class online and it required very little work outside class. Definitely worth taking.
Professor Lopez was by far the best professor I've had at QC. You'll leave the class with a new found passion for Human Evolution. Would definitely take her again!
She was a great lecturer. She always broke down information well and explain everything that would be on the quizzes and exams. If you show up and pay attention in her class you will do well. Everything you need to know are in her powerpoints. She's a great professor, I recommend!
The prof is pretty nice and everything is based on the lectures she goes over in class so you have to pay good attention. If you don't go and take really good notes then you probably won't pass. Weekly quizzes but she does tell you what questions are gonna be on it. The class can get boring sometimes so be aware of that.
She is a heavy lecturer. The class is too challenging like a major course you are taking. It feels like a 300 level class with the amount of work she makes us do .
Not a good choice. Its very time consuming and takes a lot of effort and time to study for something thats setting you up to fail.
I dont get how anyone can get less than A if they just attend and pay attention to her lectures. Seriously, I didn't read the textbook once and managed to get 90's on my tests and quizzes. Theres a knowledge check quiz every week, and she goes over the questions before we take it! the best part is that her test review qustns show up on the test!!
Makes the subject interesting. As long as you pay attention in class and take notes you can get A. She seems strict at first but she is actually pretty nice.
Professor Lopez is no nonsense. She teaches you the material in lectures, take good notes and you will pass.
Very heavy lecture, you have to remember a lot for the exams. I'm talking names, locations, terms! Attendance is mandatory if you miss a day you'll be lost. Take notes, actually study and you should be fine. Very interesting professor
She is a very serious professor but very enjoyable, even at 8am. She has a no nonsense policy and doesn't accept late work or make ups but she is so straight forward and clear that if you show up to class, study and pay attention this is an enjoyable class. She has great lectures that cover a lot of information.
Her lectures are very important for her exams but they are very good. You won't find yourself falling asleep. Make sure to take notes!! She can get a bit off topic at times (not always) and start to talk about things such as politics which gets a bit annoying. But when she does her job and teaches, she is definitely one of my favorite professors.
she's a heavy lecturer but she's chill and hilarious it can be a bit boring but that's ok she also posts the slides on bb her exams are pretty easy if u review the notes and take the mock assessments that should would post on bb its basically the same thing from the mock exam. do come to class if you wanna do even better
Professor Raquel is good and she is awesome! I like her a lot! She do everything and grade are fair to me! I recommend to yall taking her in Anth 260 class
The class is straightforward; honestly, if you take notes, you should be fine. She literally tells you what's going to be on the test and many of the questions she provides on the review sheet appear exactly on the test. You do need to put some effort into studying and there are in-class assignments, so attendance would affect your grade.
Easy class. Most of the grade was based on the three exams, all were multiple choice. I barely paid attention to lectures the whole semester and got a 100 on all the exams. The study guides and practice tests she posts are more than enough to study for the tests. Lectures are also all posted online too.
Breakdown: one knowledge check each week, three exams, ten in class assignments. Prof Lopez is very organized on BB. All chapter readings, powerpoints and images are on blackboard. Genuinely study a bit before the exams, the mock exams help! Put in more than the bare minimum and it will pay off! Anth is kind of interesting and Prof is cool.
lecture heavy class so you need to attend i missed one class but she she was open to go over it which was very nice of her she makes the lectures easily digestible the course was not hard at least for me easy exam (personal opinion) and she provides a mock exam which i advise you to take because it is helpful some questions there are in the exam
Honestly would take her class again even with her heavy lectures. She knows her material thoroughly and always has an answer to your questions. She's really easy to approach and accessible. Her slides mostly consist of definitions with many images, so most of the information verbally comes from her. But she isn't too flexible with deadlines.
Professor Raquel was a great and very knowledgeable professor with her subject. 3 exams, her slide notes are all on BB, knowledge check (HW) which is on BB and class work is all she grades in. Gives out a mock exam on BB which is similar to the real exam, so make use of that. Overall, i would recommend!!
She cares about her students and gives many opportunities for extra credit. Attendance isn't really mandatory but I suggest you go since she hints at what'll be on the exams. Make sure you at least attend the labs. She is also very flexible with turning in assignments and gives detailed review sheets.
Professor Raquel knows her field very well. Only gives 3 exams, few discussion papers and hw assigned. Her lectures are very boring sometimes and theres a lot to remember but she makes it very clear. She even posts a mock exam to practice with (make use of that most of the questions are in the real exam).
she is a great professor. can pass easily studing the classnotes only. no extra study needed
her lecture is amazing and exams are really easy if you attend every class. She is so sweet also. She helped me a lot in the office hours
She is a very good professor who wants you to learn and get a A in class. She posts the slides and mock exams for the tests and review sheets. Most questions on mock exam is on the real exam that only has 50 questions and multiple choice. A lot of information during her lectures but it's manageable and all questions on exam are based on slides
She's pretty nice and funny and clear about what she expects. The class itself is a lot of memorization (a lot for a 100-level class, do Anth101 instead for gen-ed credit). She sometimes drops answers or hints to what will be on the test during lectures so make sure to attend or get recordings. She gives practice qs (!!) and review sheets for tests
best professor ive had so far. she is one of the nicest and really wants you to succeed she posts review sheets and mock exams and they help a lot. there is also extra credit assignments for exams. so glad i took her class.
loved having her for anth260. while the material itself can be a bit much to memorize, she is always open to helping students and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. it also helps that she's very easy going and makes the class fun with her jokes and sarcasm.
Really easy going professor who genuinely wants you to pass. She seems very passionate about teaching and is extremely knowledgeable. Sometimes the material can be a bit much to memorize but if you show up to lectures and compete review/ mock exams you'll do well on tests.
Tests are super easy and an almost carbon copy of the test review she posts before the test. She also gives extra credit opportunities and gives an extremely easy open notebook quiz called a knowledge check, just once a week. She makes the class so easy you have to literally try to do bad. If you can make sure you take her.
Very clear, silly at times, but most importantly, she cares about student's grades. All you have to do is review the study guide for the exams, take the practice tests a few times over, and you'll pass.
Even if you're not really interested in anthropology, her lectures are interesting and not hard to follow. Mock exams are offered and extremely helpful, Homework is light, overall great class!
Amazing professor, genuinely knows her material so well and engages with the class very friendly. She gives so much extra credit and genuinely wants and gives opportunities for everyone to do well and get a good grade. She loves what she does and class is amazing, definitely recommend
She is very nice and organized when it comes to grading. Attendance is not mandatory. Exams are not difficult study the slides and try out the mock exams and you will be set.
