Professor P is teaching a summer course at Rutgers...she is by far the best accounting teacher I have ever had. Not only does she know her stuff, she knows how to teach it, which seems rare in this major. She is helpful, thorough, and gives you real world examples and advice. Be prepared to work in this class. She gives a loooooooot of assigments. She is a nice instructor, but she asks a lot out of you. The exams are a little complicated (unless you are an accounting lover - which I'm not). I'm trying my best. Overall she is nice! Good luck!

THE BEST. I had Pernia, Savage & Abavana and PERNIA IS THE BEST. She gives 3 small projects, fair tests and some hw(for practice). She explains very well, gives excellent notes and summaries, very interactive and classes are interesting. She shows concercern with the students academic progressa and she is always willing to help. Professor Pernia is one best professors that i have had. She explains and will try in everyway to help you understand whats going on. She helps your grade by providing extra credit work. She is absolutely awesome!!! Five stars!!!

This is my favorite professor so far. She explains everything in class, her exams are not easy of course, because this is a difficult subject, but if you take notes and come to class, you will get a good grade. She is so nice and always happy.

Prof Pernia, I would have to say is my heart just because she cares so much. Though there are many assignments, they are assigned to help you pass all exams and have a great understanding. Where should I even start with Professor Pernia? Anyway, I had her for Acc 101 and 102 and although I know for a fact I could have done better, I have to say she is one of those Professors that are willing to help as long as you try. She will not give up on you and she expects for you to not give up on yourself. I would recommend her to anyone.

Professor Pernia is one of the few that really cares for those she teaches. Yes, I have to say there are a lot of homework to complete but they are given to help. As long as you are trying, she will help you as much as possible. She rarely assigns extra credits, but when she does, take advantage because she really counts them towards your grades.

But if you don't know what you're doing, she won't pass you. Her tests aren't the best in the world. They last longer the class period & are not clear. Nice lady & all but she's not too fair.

I took this prof for Acc 101&102 I must say that she is hard but forgiving she give plenty of extra credit but u must know the material to pass! Do not overload yourself and expect to pass. I am retaking the course in the summer, I missed a few days and fell WAY behind!

Prof. Pernia is the best accounting teacher @ ECC. Her lectures are very thorough and parallels the text. She uses cengage for homework, which is a plus. Her tests are hard, but her finals are surprisingly easy. She wants her students to penetrate the material buy any means necessary(The learning center, study groups,etc.)She Rocks!

GREAT PROFESSOR...extremely helpful... and thoughtful.. knows her work...you have to read the chapters atleast twice and practice the concepts...gives alot of homework..but exams are based on homework...good luck!!!

Great professor. She uses the textbook well and do some of the problems so you can understand the lesson well. She gives tough tests but this will really help you a lot. She is really great and challenging. I hope I can have her in ACC 201, but she's not teaching it. A highly recommended professor.:)

Pernia is a FABULOUS porfessor. Alot of people who had her for ACC 101 is now taking her for 102 and I have to say she was always on time and ready to start the class. It was always fun to be in her class. i really enjoyed it. If you ever get a chance to take pernia she's amazing

pernia is a great prof. i personally like the way she teaches and she tries to go over something if students do not understand. acc classes always have a lot of hw so this was really nothing new if you have taken an acc course before. i found her extremely helpful and she really tried to make sure we learned the material.

Work hard and it will pay off. I don't believe in easy grades. Besides that I really enjoyed this class. She's funny and helpful! She definitely makes this boring subject less dull than it is. But again be ready to work hard since there is a lot of stuff she hands out.

Prof Pernia is one of the best Acc. Prof I have ever met she is up to date with current events and knows the subject extremely well, she give a lot of work and her test are challenging. But she is flexible and give you time to complete the work. Her class is fun and is not boring. I GIVE HER AN A+ she is great.

Very helpful. Accounting is a hard course, in general. She will encourage you to see tutors and she'll give you a lot of extra credit work to improve your grade. The things she writes on the board are from the textbook, but she tries to simplify things.

At first you'll hate her, then you'll fall in love. Honestly! She gives a hell of assignments that will make you hate her, but then once everything is done and the semester is over, you'll look back and realize how much you've grown as a student and furthermore as a future entrepreneur. I highly recommend her.

Lucky to have Pernia for 101 and 102. Come prepared to work-- textbook assignments, projects, AND Connect. She is somewhat lenient on due dates. Go to every class. Presentations are very clear. If you are present everyday, there is no way you can get less than a B. Pernia is very sweet, very approachable. Highly recommend.

Professor Pernia is a sweet lady, she is understanding, compassionate and just a great professor overall. There are a lot of assignments to do, and when i mean a lot, i mean lots of them. There are 3 exams, they are pretty hard, so don't think you can go in there and b.s the whole test because you will fail it. TAKING HER FOR 102 NEXT SEMESTER!!!

Professor Pernia is the sweetest and most thoughtful professor I have ever had throughout my college career. I wish all professors were like her, but unfortunately they aren't. The best accounting professor they have. Its a lot of homework but some are on the test. if you do the homework then you'll be fine. you definitely need the book or you won't understand anything. classes fill up quick.

If you're not good at math then you're not good at math, dont blame the professor because you will suck either way, with that said, Pernia is a great teacher and she is very good at explaining things! Shes not pushy with HW due dates and she gives a lot of practice. This is a comprehension class, you need to pick things up fairly quickly.

best professor she goes a little fast on things but if you ask to slow down she will. helps you whenever she can lets you hand in the homework a little late. you have to know what you are doing for the tests. she super nice and caring. give pop quizes but most are easy. you have to work hard here and with her you will not memorize you will learn

The BEST Accounting professor. sHE makes the most difficult subject easy to understand. When you do the homework, u get the points just bc u did them and not based in wrong or right. jUST show up in class so that you dont miss the lecture and you will be fine. Professor Pernia is the G.O.A.T. I wish she taught all accounting courses. She doesn't do PowerPoints nor read off the book, everything is knowledge she has and teaches us the theory with great examples to guide us when doing homework, which is important to do if you want to learn. Don't try to get smart with her as she is a savvy business women.

Professor Pernia although she makes you work for your grade, which is good for you career special if you Major is Business or Accounting. She is not like other Accounting Professor who don't care and treat you like garbage. She actually cares for you for your grades to do your best and be ready for when you transfer to the University.

One of the best if not the best all-round professor in Essex County College.. I highly doubt anyone would ever regret taking her for any classes. She is as good as it gets.

By far one of the most caring professors on campus. She gives a lot of pop quizzes but quizzes are only like 1% of your course grade. The only people that have problems with her are the ones that make problems for themselves. Literally just read your textbook, show up to class, and enjoy your A.

Professor Pernia is a great professor! She is very understanding with her students. She uses moodles to keep her students updated at all times so the student is very aware of what they have to hand in and are also aware that the grade you receive is all up to you! she gives a lot of pop quizzes but they are only there to help you, so use them!

She is one of the best professors. She really cares about her students. People who give her bad feedback are those who didn't do anything in class. Promise me, students, who have difficulties with ACC, but was trying to do work pass. If you want to learn - take her. If you want to pass without work, don't take her.

I Graduated from Essex County in 2014 and from Rutgers in 2018. Everything Prof. Pernia thought in class was very useful. She is a good teacher and if you want to learn, she will be there for you 100%. She won't allow you to cheat. Therefore, you must study. Thank you, Pr. Pernia! Best professor I have ever had!

Professor Pernia is an outstanding teacher in the area of Accounting. I was nervous at first when I read the negative comments, but it was the complete opposite when I started attending her lectures. She will record exercises for you to practice and to complete homework. I'm taking her again in ACC 102 since I prefer the way she teaches.

Professor Pernia is a great professor. She definitely knows her material. I am more of a visual learner, so I like that she does exercises in class. She also records all her lectures so if you do miss a class, you can watch her lecture and be able to catch up with no struggle. I definitely recommend her.

If you want to master Accounting and really understand the material, she is the professor to take. She does a lot of practice problems and you have a lot of homework but it's all worth it. She does't accept late homework!! stay on top of the work and you'll be fine.

If you want to actually learn accounting, I recommend her. All the classwork is on paper handouts which helps reinforce (rather difficult) concepts. She accepted all handouts throughout the semester no matter how late, but she's strict with the textbook homework. I recommend taking her earlier classes because she gets cranky later in the day.
