So many tests! She's vicious with a red pen. And her emails can seem harsh. But she's so smart and interesting and upbeat and fun. But don't even approach her with excuses.
She is scary smart not just in English. I had a full load last semester and all but one of my professors at CCCC were really good, but Dr. Rivera seems like she belongs at a different school. I mean that in a good way.
Good teacher. Usually ok but little patience for slower students. You have to do everything or no grade.
You'll get atleast a laugh or two out of her class.
She was great. She made the material easy to learn. She's fun to have as a professor.
She is very nice and I like her personality! ^__^
She is a great and fair teacher. She really enjoys what she does and her teaching style is very easy to understand. If you show up to class and try it wont be hard to get an A
Dr. Rivera is a helpful professor. She is very laid back and her class is one of my favorites
good teacher
She is intelligent at all times, and kind to every student! She is helpfull, but not a pushover, and we all know how annoying push over teachers are.
Great teacher and pretty fun your crazy if you don't like her class
Good Teacher, but the course and her style is fast-paced. Not so easy for someone who has a full plate.
Awesome class. Rock on.
Very interesting class, if i do say so myself. :)
If you're willing to try I think you'll be find. This class is not for those looking for a stroll in the park.
Fair and somewhat easy. Not much time has to be spent in this class.
An amazing english professor... VERY articulate!
Amazing teacher, very helpful when i had to rewrite my essays because of format errors
Has a good way of keeping students attention with eccentricity
Make sure you check your emails! she uses email alot. she is an awesome professor!
Dr. Rivera is a great teacher and will help with your writing and helps you to get ALL work done.
this teacher is the most awesome english teacher i've ever had
She is fair. Sends a lot of emails and likes things done on time
She is a great teacher and very helpful. The set up of the class is great. The environment is fun and there are lots of discussions and everyone can say his/her opinion. She is one of my favorite teachers!
Classes are more like class discussions, and are very interesting to observe.
I THINK PEOPLE ARE CONFUSING HER GOOD PERSONALITY WITH HOW MANY D*&N TESTS SHE GAVE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER. EACH ONE HAD ABOUT 100 QUESTIONS & THEY WERE BACK TO BACK.
I missed first week or so of school and had hard time to catch up. I do not like that she makes us do technology presentation at the end.
She does anything she possibly can to help you get through class. She is really strict on papers and deadlines but she helps out tremendously with lab hours.
Dr. Rivera's affinity for English and her warm personality make her class a pleasure to attend. She encourages class discussion and creates a learning environment that feels more like a friendly book club than a classroom. Her expectations are high but also motivational, and her homework load is reasonable. I know I will utilize her education in ev
Enthusiastic Teacher. Be prepared to read from the book everyday.
This teacher is freaking aswome, she is very much connected to her humorous side, that she wont be angry if you crack a joke.
She is very easy to get along with, and very enjoyable. I learned alot more this year.
She's a great teacher! She teaches really well but make sure you have your book at all times.. and make sure you read and DO the writing assignments. Other than that, she's great!
I enjoyed her class, very flexible and extremly helpful she is very nice and I love her attitude always positive.
Definitely smart, uses a lot of words I don't know. Can be tough. Expects you to send email if absent. Deletes emails with no subject lines. Have to find out what you missed from other students. But my writing improved.
She is a great teacher, well educated and articulate. I would recommend her to anyone that needs to take English, regardless of their ability. She is flexible with assignments. There were a lot of tests at the beginning, but if you take good notes and study they are pretty easy and can really help your grade out for the rest of the semester.
An interesting yet eccentric style of teaching.
very upbeat, enthusiastic, and passionate
Makes things interesting in class
She's hard on grammar and punctuation, but she covers everything you need at the start of the semester. She's smart and uses words I had to look up, but I am a better writer now.
She requires tons of reading. I will say that she ignores slackers. She's not rude. She just nods her head, smiles & acts like they are not there. It's actually pretty cool to watch. Phenomenal Woman...
Intelligent, organized, challenging, and definitely a helpful teacher all around.
Great teacher but sometimes goes off topic. has good ideas and has a fun time with teaching so its always an intersting class. and she is finnnee
How did I ever make it to 1302? Hands down, she showed all my other English teachers.
Easiest english teacher I've taken. Make sure you do the work and follow MLA format and you will pass this class. She's funny and easy going, no need to go to every class, but make sure you do the material. LOVED HER!!!!
Thought I had a B but ended up with a C. I didn't put enough time in on the final. It took me a while to get a hang of what she calls academic writing, but I'm going to try her again.
Dr. R. is one of the best teachers ever! She loves what she teaches. Watch out, Dr. R. expects you to talk everyday. She's fun and fair. So use commonsense. Go to class, pay attention, and do the work, the way she asks, on time. No problem.
She's really nice and fun to have as a teacher. Just be careful. She talks really fast so sometimes shes hared to understand. I highly recommend her.
I LOVE HER SHES THE BEST TEACHER I'VE HAD SINCE I BEEN HERE!!! SHES VERY FLEXALBE WITH WORK AND BREAKS THING DWN TO WHERE U UNDERSTAND. "TAKE HER"!!!!
Good teacher, Funny and helps u out untill u understand. starts out with a lot (like couple test, finish a book and a paper in the 1st 3 weeks) then it slows down and we read most the time for anaother paper. doesnt give hw the 1st couple of tests u get to use your notes and paper she gives u so yeah take this teacher!!!!
Fun but fair! She is willing to help you out a lot if you put forth the effort. Wants feedback and participation in her class.
Dr. Rivera is very energetic and helpful to her students; however, she does have a tendency to ramble and, in my experience, there was little student interaction. Her tests are, normally, quite easy because she allows us to look at the notes, and, despite the large amount of tests at the beginning of her class, she is not overly challenging.
She is overall a pretty good professor i enjoy her class and hope to recieve one of my better grades in her class
Very fast paced, clear, and engaging. Best english professor thus far.
great professor, explains everything very easy
She is a very nice person to be around. She makes the class fun and a little difficult, but it is a good class with an excellent teacher.
This is the first time all my classes made sense because of one class. You have to use the book as the source. But you get to pick the topic and use what your learning in other classes to prove your point.
She is a very competent, and knowledgeable teacher. She seems to care about what her students have to say and she is also very fun, and has an effervescent personality which is enjoyable to be around. I will say that unless you are willing to work hard and edit your papers, this class might not be for you, she is a hard grader, but a fair one.
very bubbly & friendly
She's a good teacher. She talks really fast but other than that shes easy to understand. and no homework.
Very helpful if you have a question about an assignment. Will note every fault in an essay, but will grade them fairly. Easy to pass her class if the student puts forward the effort.
The first two weeks are rough, but the class gets easier. She's very helpful and easy to understand. Overall, the class was helpful and fun.
Very fun to listen to, she expands on her meanings when talking about different stories. You will need the textbook because you use stories out of them for essays.
she is very clear on what she wants and expects.
I've never had a teacher grade as harshly as she does! I thought I was a pretty good writer because of the grades I received in the past. The test deal surprised me, but I see now that she holds you responsible for that information on essays.
More than anything she makes what we read tie to our lives. She's taught me how to question what I thought were "givens" in my life.
Dr. Rivera is such a great professor!!! I learned a lot from being in her class and I plan to take her for 1302 as well. She may seem strict at first, but it's just a cover. she is sweet, and is willing to work with you if you show that you're trying.
I'm going to take her again. She's smart and fun but serious too. Classic Dr. R., we all "must watch out for stupidity in our lives."
fast talking & fine. no nonsense about papers. gotta be willing to chk email. won't text/won't call.
She's a good teacher, and she lets you out early. Grades essays hard, but there's a lot of open note tests and group tests. good class!
the best teacher in the world! really helpful xD. Her class is fun and cool. She should totally get a rise. pluss she closes her eyes when she talks !! so unique
You can tell she loves enlish and reading. She tells you the way she wants her essays and for your grade listen to what she has to say. She is very energetic in class and likes it when you give your opinion. Her test are easy and she gives you great study material. There are about 5 test, 3 essays, and one group project.
Professor Rivera challenges her students to think outside of themselves. She is fair. If you try, you will be rewarded. She doesn't hand out As, but she will help you get the best grade possible.
I have a friend who is in the same class with a different professor, and we definitely did a TON more work in this class. She is a very nice and understanding lady. Just be prepared to work. There are plenty of grade opportunities though. She does grade fairly critically, but the grade assigned is always fair.
Racquel Rivera is one of the best Professor I have had so far this semester. She is nice and always clear to what she wanted you to do. She knows her subject very well and funny, too! Take her class.
Professor Rivera is a great teacher. She is very helpful, loves to talk, and engage students into conversations. But, be prepared to work. She gives a lot papers to write and sometimes tests are earlier than first scheduled plus she grades really harshly. If you work hard, you will get a good grade in her class. I would definitely recommend her!
She is a great teacher! She gives many breaks, but you still learn...you do have to work but she works with you and if you listen and pay attention, then this class is a guaranteed A...A majority of the tests are very very easy and many of them she allows you to use notes! I would definately recomended her,and I even feel I am a better writer becau
She is a nice teacher, very helpful. She is very strict with the essays but she will remind you of what to do to get a good grade until the moment you hit submit in turn it in. It was fun to be in her class, but you actually have to write really good essays to get a 100.
loved her class. although at times it seemed very fast pace, she made keeping up very easy. i would gladly take another class of hers.
Dr. Rivera always wants to hear your position, but you need to be able to back up your position with examples or the book. She's a pain about essays. You can choose your own topic, but she gives you specific guidelines. I liked that I met more people in her class.
great teacher very nice and funny(lol has amazing hearing she can hear u whispering conversation from across the room) She will help you out when you ask, makes the class fly by with the discussions, your essays must be very very well written she gives you everything you need to know for the test and doesnt leave anything out
Dr. Rivera was a great professor. Despite how strict she is in grading essays, she definitely gives everyone any help they need in order to turn out successful in the class.
Great teacher, talks a lot but makes english fun overall.
really cool. seems really strict at first, but you know shes there to help, makes the assignment really easy and clear, overall one of the better teachers ive had.
It's been an interesting experience.
She talks fast but other than that just do your work and you should be fine
very understanding
good, just a little ADD and difficult to follow sometimes, but if want Spunky then look no further.
Professor Rivera is a helpful instructor.
awesome!
She is super helpful, good teacher for sure.
Awesome proffessor! keeps you interested and is very helpful
She knows how to entertain an interesting conversation.
I took her for both the required English courses, and fully enjoyed it both times. Not only is she an awesome teacher, but she challenges you to write better. She makes the class interesting and fun. Plus, she brings up points during class discussion that really makes the mind think. I definitely recommend taking her class!
Great professor. Knows a great depth in her field.
She covers so much material and actually starts lecturing on the first day of class. She talks too fast. Also she uses words real people don't use in regular conversation. But she's fair and you'll be okay if you do ALL the work.
I feel like the course was all of high school and my first college course in one semester. If you have to miss class, she won't explain what you missed so you need to have someone to call. Good teacher and friendly but she didn't care when I tried to tell her about why I couldn't finish the last essay. I still liked her class.
She's a nice person, but a pretty tough teacher. She is entertaining though and I did enjoy going to her class. She does not pick favorites and she is fair. I would recommend her for someone is does want some challenge but you will do fine if you do all the work.
She was a fairly tough but really helpful teacher who didn't talk down to us or make us feel bad. She also kept the conversation pretty interesting and I loved her quirky speech patterns. Except "So theres that" and "Just say it!" a lot xD
Easy and fun class
She is awesome. She answers emails and holds good discussions in class. You may feel overwhelmed at first, but I promise it all works out. If you're late for a due date, she will help you no problem. Class isn't ALWAYS mandatory. AWESOME.
She is tough but helpful professor. Enthusiastic about teaching. I may not do well in this class, but I am quite enjoying it.
Dr. Rivera is an amazing teacher! She is very kind and will work with you through any situation you might have. I do have to admit that she grades her essays very hard. Her test are very easy, she will let you use notes on your test. I recommend her i took her for English 1301 and 1302
Except for the tests, her class is paperless. All essays are submitted to turnitin.com, and the portal shuts down after each deadline. All feedback and scoring is inside of turnitin also. She doesn't care about excuses and grades essays hard.
very fun class,
She is really fun and outgoing. She's pretty easy going and leniant but she grades papers very strictly.
Professor Rivera is strict when it comes to grading papers, and honest, but if you are looking to be a better writer she's what you need. The beginning of the class is fast passed but it benefits you in the end. She is understanding, and helpful. Also her tests are either open note, open book or you work with a partner. she wants you to do well!
She's tough but she's a good professor. Her class is fun, but she accepts no late work. It's all or none.
I have not attended each and every class session, but Dr. Rivera is a great proffesor. Everything she teaches, is pretty straight forward. I was hoping to learn more about writing during this course and I have improved my writing skills, thanks to her.
she is a great professor. she knows what she is talking about and is very good at creating interesting and fun topics to discuss in class. she is increadibly smart and witty. if you pay attention, you will learn a lot. she can be tough, especially with grading. she is easy to understand and very helpful. one of the best professors i have had.
I have taken this professor twice, she is very open to discussion and very nice.
she is funny.
Dr. Rivera is really scatterbrained. She teaches this class more like sociology than English, and never teaches anything that is actually related to composing an essay. This class is not going to help me with my essays. Don't take her if you're looking for an actual English course.
I really liked the class. there was a lot of writing but it is an english class so what do you expect? it was pretty easy for the most part though.
fun class but alot of writing
She provides many chances to do lab hours and other assisnments.
She is a hard grader but a nice woman. I enjoyed our class discussions. She doesn't have any participation points. If she talked about something in class, she won't answer an email about it.
Dr. Rivera covers a ridiculous amount of material at the beginning of the semester. If you miss a day sometimes the class schedule changes, but you need to be able to contact another student. You need to know a little abot computers in order to write your documents and upload them and check your cougar mail a lot. I'm trying hard, but I have a C.
I'm glad I took her class. I didn't like her at the beginning. But she's taught me so much about being a student at CC. I switched classes because the people in my class didn't talk. The 11:30 was better.
Take her she's brilliant. Dr. Rivera brings in so many different points of view. She covers everything from the beginning and wants to hear what you think. The number of assignments may seem like too much. But you learn so much.
Awesome. Took her for 1301 and 1302. Just write a lot of three page papers. Grades hard on format only. All open note/book tests and all knocked out in first half of semester. Final exam is very easy and she gives it out a month in advance. Lots of class discussion.
She is very understanding. My grandma is really sick and I have missed some classes and she was very willing to help me with assignments. I love using the online turnitin.com website, it was very easy and it made it easier to turn in papers. She is very enthusiatstic about english and made the classes feel very high in energy and interesting.
A very precise professor. If you were looking for a professor that informs you on what to do and how to do it then look no further. Incredibly technologically inclined, but who would'nt be with todays advancements. Not only is she adamant about the student knowing what they are to do but also extremely helpful on where one should look for research.
Teacher explains everything and answer every question. Loves to have discussions in class. she pretty layback in the class room and grade papers hard but is willing to work with you if you put in the effort. She is a fun teacher to have.
I really enjoyed this professor. She really seems to enjoy teaching and wants her students to do well. She sometimes makes things a little more complicated than need be, but she is not hard to understand. She will work with you as long as you make sure to work. She helps those who help themselves.
The professor really knows what she is talking about, may speak a little too fast at times but overall great teacher. must have good knowledge of 1301 to take her for 1302 if not she might move a little too fast for you. Also there is a good amount of work to be done, you can't take her class and expect to do the minimum you might just fail. good
Dr. Rivera is an interesting teacher because she obviously loves her subject, reading, and class discussions of the assignments. She uses blackboard and turnitin. She won't cut any slack on essays, but she teaches you how to write for college. I like that she will rip apart your papers but doesn't let that affect the way she talks to you in class.
Five tests, two 4 page papers, 1 research paper, 1 group paper, group tech. project and take-home final. I hate turnitin.com because of the set deadlines, and Dr. R. won't touch a paper copy (joked that she was allergic). This was the only class this fall where I spoke in class and met people. Smart, funny woman with a BS detector.
She will tells us when things are due and you have to do it. She will accept assignments late if you have a good enough excuse. She will help whenever you need help. Sometimes it's hard to get stuff done in her class, because she is looking for specific things that she taught us, and she expects the best for us and for us to write good papers we do
The professor is very cool although the amount of work done to pass the class is high. She uses turitin.com to submit the paer. All exams are open note so the exams are not too tough.
The work may seem overwhelming but do all the assignments and you will pass the class. Also, Dr.Rivera is always willing the help you on your papers. She's a great professor and I would take any of her other English courses.
Professor Rivera has a strong passion to teach. I was nervous prior to her class, I expected a rigid English teacher. She is anything but that. I anticipated the hard work, and it is definitely difficult. I want to succeed in this class. I knew that before starting, but now that I'm in it, I want to do a good job to make her proud.
If you have any interest/passion for literature/writing you will thoroughly appreciate Dr. Rivera's teaching. It is not easy work. DO NOT procrastinate. she is not merciless, but she does demand a semblance of professionalism. Tests=open note/book. An 'A' on a paper is rare. grading=strict. Lab hours are required & outside class time
Dr. Rivera isn't an easy professor. Thankfully she has a true passion for teaching which makes up for it. She is a grammer and mechanics Nazi so it's important that you utilize the writing center. She gives you a large amount of freedom when you are writing, but she wants fresh and witty ideas. Taking her class has made me a better writer.
Dr. Rivera is a very nice teacher. Her work is hard, but if you just do it you will at least get a b in the class.
She is very understanding and helpful. The test are all open-note. :) I do recomend going to the writing center for all of the papers though.
Professor Rivera is a great teacher. I have to admit that I have done horrible in my past English classes but with the open notes quizzes it make the grading ratio very helpful. Alrhoe she's a very nice person her grading towards your essays will be harsh, but it's college.. Deal with it. I wish I would have known how she teaches because I would have chose her for my 1301 class as well. If your not gonna show up to class then don't bother. But if your going to show up I highly recommend her.
Rivera is an understanding professor. She will keep explaining things until they make sense to whomever. She is very fast pace at the begining, but once you know how the class works its very simple. Going to every class period will help tremendous. The concious reader is a must have for this class.
Dr. Rivera is a good teacher, and I would recommend her. Her class is interesting, although she does tend to go off on tangents (not that that is a bad thing). She cares about the students, and grades fairly. The tests easy: multiple choice and open note. Her teaching style is effective, and not boring, lacking, or pointless.
Dr. Rivera is a very kind teacher who is always willing to help out the students. She comes across as very strict at the beginning of the year but she isnt except when she grades essays. If your taking this class and arent very good at writing essays (like myself) you wont be happy with essay grades but regular tests are all open note and easy.
She is a good teacher. she gives good directions when you ask for them. She is a fun professor espesaly when she gets mad at herself. She needs to let lose a little more, but she is not strict. Overall I would sugest trying to get her as your professer. She will help you get where you need to go.
She's a hard grader/has high standards, and she is smart. If you want to be a better writer & please other professors, take her. She starts out with the nitty gritty basics and gives lots of handouts on what to do/not do. They're not just for her tests, USE THEM. There are easier teachers if you just want an easy A. If you want to learn, take her.
I really enjoyed Dr. Rivera as a professor, but found her class a bit hard. She has high standards which are good for learning. I am glad that I took her for 1301, but will not be taking her for 1302. Her requirements are stict but she grades fairly and she is understanding and easy to speak with.
Dr. Rivera is apretty good teacher. She grades quite strictly. She likes discussion type class. She is available for consultation which i think is good thing. I found the class difficult at as you have to be good at close readin and annotating. Overall shes cool and im taking for 1302 also.
Gives very little in the way of instruction for each paper, spends the majority of class time reading stories from the textbook. Does not actually go over concepts the class isnt doing properly on papers. Very little actual teaching goes on. Constantly 10-15minutes late for class. Take the class with another teacher.
Dr.Rivera provides a clear, educational, and entertaining English class. The class includes 3-4 papers a semester that are throughly explained. In order, to be prepared for the class keep in mind that if the papers are not written in a proper student manor and aren't following paper guidelines you will be counted off.She is one of the best professors
She is a good teacher but I did find her class a bit hard for myself. If I would have known, I wouldn't have taken so many classes. Her class requires of certain amount of time. If you want an easy "A" I suggest taking somebody else, but if English is your thing go ahead and take her class you'll learn a lot.
If you are looking for an easy A do not take this class. This class requires alot of work. She does not accept late papers. Overall good professor knows what shes teaching.
She is a very helpfull professor. loved being in her class. she is a bit tough on grading and her class requires more time than any other classes I have taken so far , but overall she is very appraochable which makes it very easy to communicate.
Dr. Rivera effectively teaches English and to makes it interesting. She clarifies difficult points in her lessons and puts effort into her teaching style. Dr. Rivera grades our papers fairly and critically. She points out our mistakes and helps us to properly correct them. She cares about our education both inside and outside of the classroom.
Dr. Rivera, only one word to describe her as hyperactive when teaching English. She provides a clear educational English class but the class requires certain amount of time. She is a bit tough on grading the papers but she is willing to comment on your mistake and help you correct them. Overall, she is one of the best teachers at Quad C.
She is very good and knows the stuff but for those of us who are now learning English, it is really hard. If you study extra hard and be at the writing center day and night, you should be fine
She's a good teacher. She gives a lot of work but it's not hard.
she is an easy teacher i liked her.
Great professor! She is very personable and easy to understand or ask questions. A little tough when grading papers, but will help you correct your mistakes, negative? won't accept any late work :(
She is personable and extremely helpful. Talks very fast but she still makes sure that the point is clear. Tough on grading but the learning process will help in future classes. You can tell she is passionate about what she does.
Her grading style for the final drafts are pretty rigorous, however if you give a well aimed attempt your bound to get a B or higher on the paper. As for the tests they are easy, even if many are given. All you really have to do is take notes, she literally gives you the answers depending on which test it is. She is always willing to help.
She's an okay teacher. As many others on here have said her grading on the papers are rigorous. She talks fast when going over certain material but still gets the point across quiet nicely. The tests are easy as she allows you to use notes. Overall she seems very lenient but it's still a good idea not to underestimate her.
She is very fast paced and is easy to understand. She does a good job explaining things and is very understandable when it comes to tests. Let's you use notes on tests. 4 essays. Must read.
Overall very helpful. I'd recommend her to anybody
She definitely knows what she's talking about but doesn't give you much direction as far as writing. Lots of essays but she doesn't make any comments on the turnitin.com copy and the peermark is useless. Tests can be easy as she lets you use your notes. The grammatical and writing portions of the class seem to be unrelated. Not a bad professor.
She is really helpful when it comes to tests. She lets you use your notes and always has reviews before the test. You need the book because two of the papers are about stories in the book. She keeps class moving at a fast pace so there is not a lot of chance you will fall asleep. She is a great teacher.
Most tests are open book. She is fun and funny.
She is thorough and flexible; seems strict at first but shes not! she likes to interact, but doesn't put anyone on the spot. the class is "literary term" intense, but she just zooms through them with examples and then all tests are open note! :) yay! most of it is busy work. its so easy...she uses turnitin.com for her papers.
Dr. Rivera is very personable and her teaching style makes one want to show up... even though attendence is mandatory. This is a class that will cause you to enjoy learning.
Dr Rivera is a challenging professor. Be prepared to break out of your procrastination shell cause you need to be alert of what is happening almost all the time
Teacher is very interesting too listen too. From the begging of the semester you will be taking test that are open notes. There are three papers and a final. Teacher grades fairly if you have good content you'll get a C
It is a tough a class. All of her test are open note about literary terms. Some of the terms are not in the notes she gives you. Have to match terms with example sentences. Her class is more of a discussion over the reading. She uses turnitin.com and you have to go to the writing center. If your strength is english than she would be great.
Enjoyed the class for sure, however, I think the grading is a bit tough, especially on the revision essays. (You have to write a good amount of essays, btw, at least 3, and then revise them).. One thing I do dislike.. She requires all lab hours.. which is ridiculous. You need the textbook for in-class discussions. And turnitin.com is a necessity.
Very interesting professor. Lots of essays to write. Follow criteria for decent grade. Do not procrastinate!!!!
The class involves multiple essays. The topics aren't difficult though since most of them are self chosen. The class is not difficult if you get your work done. The lab hours is the most annoying part of the class. You have to get all of the lab hours, which seems very ridiculous. Overall, the class is challenging and slackers will not make it.
I highly reccomend Dr. Rivera. She is very pleasant, easy to work with and overall a great teacher.
She is a very smart woman but she wasn't very pleased with us, but she tried her best regardless. I have learned so much and those basics have helped me in history and psych.
She is a very fun teacher with lots of energy. She kept the in class discussions lively. Be ready to write at least three essays, plus tests. The tests weren't bad because we were allowed to use our notes. Lab hours are required and her grading can be harsh.
I really enjoyed her classes. I took her for both 1301 and 1302. She pushed me to do well. Her discussions are interesting for those who can be bothered to participate, something she encourages. If you're looking to cruise through an easy class, look somewhere else. You earn your grade and appreciate it for the effort you have to put in.
She is a very smart woman, she tries her best, however the student is. She was one of the finest English I ever had.
Bottem Line- Do the Lab hours and use the writing center! Not an easy A but its managable. Wonderful teacher and shes HOT! Keeps you interested and helps whenever she can!
very good professor. really encouraging, she makes students work and trys to get the best out of them. Not an easy class.
I am taking the TEAS entrance exam right now, and if you plan on going to TWU for nursing, take Prof. Rivera. She is a stickler for grammar and is not an easy A, but I learned more in her class than I did in K-12 or ENGL 1301. TEAS is surprisingly heavy in English/reading, so my advice to you is to opt into a good English prof not an easy one.
very awesome lady. probably the best professor i've had so far.
She knows what she is teaching. She is very smart, however I fell she lacks in organization. During her lectures she gives lots of life advices skipping the class content. She lost some peoples tests. Her class is easy, however if you are looking for improving your writing she doesnt give feedback about your essays until the end of the semester.
Okay. So Prof. Rivera is extremely nice and caring but she is so unorganized. The class literally never understood what the essays or assignments were about. She is really wise and loves group discussion. She puts up with so much but her class is a joke and I really didnt learn anything. Its an easy A if you just do the work.
Great professor thats laid back and gives great discussions (even though she can meander off topic at times), always attempting to promote critical thinking. Assignments are clear cut, simply do them (and if you're late, she gives an opportunity to make it up or turn it in) and you're going to pass.
