His notes are very helpful, and they can help almost anyone be successful.

He is an awesome professor. His lectures are very clear, and he knows what he's doing.

You notice that the only students that say he sucks are the ones that are really dumb and have remedial classes like mat1033. Idiots....he is a good teacher...yes his english could improve but he knows how to teach and he is good at it...that is all that matters to me

His a good prof, just never ask questions in his class. All you have to do is read his handouts and his test review handouts and your set for his tests.

Prof. Barua does have an accent. But he's not american nor english first language, so that's to be expected! That was tough AT FIRST, but I was proactive. I visited him during office hours and got extra help from other sources like the Math Lab. In time and with practice I was able to do the math and enjoy his accent. Thanks Prof. Barua :-)

Students taking 1033 are complaining because their ignorant...He knows how to teach very well. Compare him to other mac teachers like Sanders and you will be extremely appreciative of his lessons. He gives handouts so you take little notes, his tests are very easy because he reviews before each one.Recommend to people who could see past his accent!

personally, i think thet the professor is always right on the money. I've had him for math1033 and now mac1105 and i absolutely love and recommend him. EXCELLENT PROFESSOR!!! the only thing is that he assigned many homeworks. But, come on, this is math. How the hell are you suppose to learn something if you don't practice!!!

Barua is a little weird ad can make you feel like a total idiot if you answer a question wrong, but he knows what he''s doing. He gives worksheets to clarify on a certain section of a chapter. Yes he gives alot of h.w. but this is college and you don't have to turn anything in, the h.w helps alot for when you take the test.

Wow...this guy can be rough. I managed an A in this class only because I already knew what I was doing. His notes and handouts are pretty good. He does have a thick accent, but not the worst I heard on campus. He gets frustrated very easily. When he does...he hops on his soap box and preaches procedure. Learn procedure and you will do fine.

He has an accent, but he knows his stuff. This guy gives you handouts and reviews for just about anything and even gives you the ANSWERS after you take it in another handout. Follow his lectures, do your homework for practice and you should be fine. Do not ask smart questions or he will make you look stupid. Go along with the lesson, its easy LOL

He is a good professor and loves to teach, sure he has a funny accent and some not so funny jokes but he is good and if you do not understand anything he is available in his office hours. He gives little hand outs and reviews for all test. You must know your stuff or you won't pass. Don't ask stupid questions in class he will make you feel bad.

(Pros)He is a good teacher. You will learn a lot from him. He breaks down all the steps to a math problem. (cons)you can't understand what he says most of the time. Grade is based on about 6 test and there is no extra credit. He will kind of make fun of you if you dont get the right answer.

AWESOME TEACHER! his accent is funny but don't let that stop you from picking him. his lectures are crystal clear if you need help just admit and he'll be extremely helpful. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM

OKAY Awsome teacher if you like karate Movies. He reminds me of my old Karate Teacher. his accent comes out when he gets mad very funny. He is a good professor. When you ask him a question he starts to yell and it was so funny but it's not that he gets mad he just gets loud when you ask something. He wants you to learn. Just pay attention in his class and you should be able to pass. He does have an accent but trust me I have to put up with worse accents than his!

Awesome...! teacher he wants his students to learn the material,but one thing he's does not like students talking when he's trying to teach. also so it your not sure of a math problem make sure you ask questions he's willing to help,his office is open if you have any question or not to sure about a lesson or a chapter

He really takes the time to explain. Always uses good examples and analogies before each concept. Very friendly and always willing to help after class. Tests are not very hard, and gives very good supplemental sheets and notes, and test review sheets.

Mr. Barua knows what he's talking about and will take you step by step through every section. He gives excellent reviews for each of his exams and he tests you on what is covered in class. He has office hours after each class and is willing to explain the material to you if you did not understand. DO THE HOMEWORK AND YOU WILL PASS!

This teacher is amazing. Ok, maybe he has an accent and all. and maybe he yells, but you have to remember that college isn't suppose to be easy. If you don't understand what a prof is teaching then go to the math labs. That's what I did and I have a B so far in his class. Just make sure you put the extra effort and you will pass. Trust!

At first I was like.... Damn! I should have taken another class. But, then I was like OMG! I love this guy. I mean, sure you can't really understand him because of his heavy Indian accent, and ok! sometimes he yells when you ask for help (lol-- which is why I never asked for help. lol) but in the end he is really cool. this professor accent is very heavy but you learn to get used to it. this class is merely easy if you attend class and do the test reviews he give before each test but you have to be serious about this class in order to pass. its only six tests that average out your overall grade.

he's a graet professor, kind of easy;however the tests are not multiple choice, you gotta know s.t. to score points on the tests. weird acsent but extremelly useful and sometimes funny--when he screams--he's awesome. i recommend this professor. STUDY if you wanna pass with an Aor a B.

This professor is really good!! He is very engaging, but has a HEAVY accent. Pay attention, look over his packets, and you will do fine. I am most def. taking him for pre-calc. I recommend him!

easy class with him..he gave us 4 test and a final exam..he doesnt care if you attend class or not.Besides you can be late in all the classes...Also he explains all the material and doesnt give homework!!!!! ..take him for this class!!!

Barua is an AMAZING professor. He is extremely knowledgeable and his notes are extremely clear. I had him for Mac1105 and now I'm taking pre-cal and I'm sooo glad I took this guy because he prepared me very well. He gives a total of 7 exams and you can replace your lowest test score with your final exam grade. No homework is collected. :)

He is an interesting professor because in the beginning of the semester you will think that this guy is easy but then you will see that it is actually a pretty hard class. You have to study and if you are taking stats then you will have to go to his office because in the math lab nobody can help you. He is extremely helpful in his office.

This is a Little tricky.... because its not that he doesnt teach well,, he does... homework is only for practice... but the test that he gives are HARD, He adds 2-3 of each question which no one has time to finish... He yells when you ask a question.... or even breathe the wrong way.... RUN AWAY AS FFAST AS YOU CAN!

This class was a little tricky for me like most math classes you do have to study. I am horrible at math and I was failing in the middle of the semester but in the last tests I started going to his office and he does help you out because he wants everyone to do well. He drops your lowest test grade and you are good take him and study hard.

Barua knows what he is talking about...he does have an accent but so does 85% of professors at MDC. if u are concerned about ur grade and ask for help, he will help you. he will embarsse you buy not intentionally. the material is hard but at the end of the day this is college, its not meant to be easy. its meant to help you learn new material!

Just ignore all the things he says that you don't like and focus, listen to his recommendations and do the suggested homework and you can pass this class. I did it in 6 weeks so its def possible. Just study hard.

Dr Barua definately knows his stuff. he can go on some crazy rants some times but he is definately very helpful. I took him for summer A and explains things well you just have to pay attention or you will miss it. He gives piles of papers with directions on how to do everything(very helpful). his tests are very difficult but if you study its fine

I loved Professor Barua.I took him for STATS and MAC and I loved him.He does have an accent but trust me once you're in his class for a week you will get used to it.He is funny at times and he does teach very well.The homework is not mandatory but if you want to pass his test I recommend it and his notes are so useful. Textbook is "mandatory" he doesn't check if you have it though. He only uses it to give hw for your own practice. He doesn't collect any hw. Gives reviews before each exam. Offers additional help and you can always visit him in his office. Overall okay teacher. Has an accent but you get used to it... Eventually

He has a strong accent but he is an amazing teacher. His references to real world and math seem to not make sense when he starts but once he's finished you will most likely be left thinking "oooooohh I get it" he is always there for help before or after class and all you have to do is pay attention during class and make sure you understand after.

I love this professor.! At first you have to get used to his accent, but after you pass that you actually learn.! His lectures are very simple && easy as long as you PAY ATTENTION. He only grades tests, but they're not hard if you study. Plus, he specifically tells you what will be on it.! He could be a rude at times, but what teacher isn't.

Prof. Barua isn't for everyone. He initially comes off as abrasive. He expects you to know everything from MAT1033. If not, he'll go off on a whole tangent of how you're supposed to know that stuff. However, his lessons are pretty clear, and he's good to go to for OH. In his own words "I teach the course not the test", so do the study guide.

He gives out homework but it isnt for a grade, its just for your benefit. He uses weird analogies when explaining a new lesson but for the most part, it does help understand the material. The homework is from the book but if you're confident in your math, you wont need it. He gives out study guides for every lesson and problems similar to the tests

He is a great professor has a bit of an accent, but if your math skills are not above average this class is not for you. One of the best you can do is study at best of your ability because everything he lectures will be on the test. It will be good if you read his syllabus properly, and be prepare to show work in the exercises no work no credit.

Just come to class and pay attention, and if you don't understand the work, then ask. He may seem like hes a horrible person because he yells alot, but he's not all that bad. He gives homework, but don't check it, btw.

He can be very critical with his students,but he has good intentions. His class revolves around fairly graded tests(cumulative final replaces your lowest test score) Homework is given but never checked,book isn't really required as he gives handouts explaining everything in detail. I really enjoyed his class. Made me enjoy math again. Replaces your lowest test grade with your final exam grade. He does have an accent though. For some its bad, for me, its a source of entertainment. Took him a year ago. He likes to scream at his students sometimes but it's because he cares. It was a Calculus Class taught as it should be. So here's the thing... if you want a professor that will challenge you to be the best you can be, register for his course! I never thought I would ever master math , let alone college level math! He does have an accent, but trust me, i learned through it. Focus on the processes he uses to solve the problems and the accent wont bother you at all.

Firstly, some students rating him as an "awful" professor are probably students who are used to be pampered, not challenged. Secondly, he does teach. You just have to put in effort. Thirdly, he expects you to learn and know your stuff. It's college, isn't it? Lastly, his accent doesn't define him, his knowledge clearly does. He's outstanding!

Great professor!! Has his student best interest at heart. The course isnt easy but its STATISTICS so what do you expect. I DID NOT USE THE BOOK . Was givien handout for each chapter. He made a in-depth formal sheet for us that we can use on the test. Hes not hard but you have to give him something to work with. Makes you learn.

Good professor but if you miss a day chance are you will confused the next class. The test are very similar to the questions done in class. He only test you on what hes taught. Studying is must you may think you get it when he does but its about being able to do it on you own. I suggest you do the same questions done in class on your own.

His accent is very strong. He isn't a bad professor. He just get upsets sometimes because he expects you to know some basic math thing. His tests are just like his reviews. Really nice if you go to his office hours. Pretty decent.

This professor is hilarious & super sweet. He is an amazing professor who breaks down all the material until you can understand it. He has a very heavy accent and that's why people don't like him but he is really fantastic. He writes down everything you need to know or understand on the board. Truly cares about the subject and wants you to learn. Grades come from Tests that are given every other week or so. Textbook is not mandatory but can be used for homework and studying. Accent can be a little heavy the first week but you get quickly adjusted to it.

Hands down the best math teacher I've ever had at MDC! He was so caring and very helpful. He makes sure you walk out confident with the material and knowing what you need to do to succeed in this course. He was always very helpful and reviewed anything and everything that was ever a little unclear. Best teacher ever! Def recommend 10/10

I get it. Barua may have a reputation for his scolding but asides from that he is amazing at what he does. Review what he lectured often. Document notes he makes himself are great for test reviews. However, he only grades tests so there is no homework grade etc. I took him for more than one class and I was always satisfied with his teachings.

An amazing teacher, he helps you understand the material perfectly. There are only tests for this class no homework therefore you must study and know whats going on in class. Test are not proctored. Would recommend!

The only grades are 4 tests and the final exam. Test only have what was taught in class. If you study you'll be fine.

Mr Barua is a nice teacher. Although he has an accent, youll be able to understand what he says. His class is easy but only if you attend. I took him for MAT1033. For the whole semester you get 5 quizzes which are not proctored. He also loves yelling and I guess thats what makes him funny.

Professor Barua is very knowledgeable of the subject. It is true that his class is heavy in content, but he explains every step in detail, even when is knowledge you are supposed to have from classes before. If you care about learning and actually enjoy math, I do recommend him, otherwise you might want to opt for a more slow paced class.

I had him twice and he has been a wonderful professor. The only assignments are the quizzes & textbook is not mandatory. He does have a heavy accent, but he's wonderful at teaching math. It's impossible to not pass his class with an A. He also provides with tutors if you need any additional help.
