Most enjoyable class!
I learnt so much in this class! If you care about global issues this is a great class.
Not an interresting class, she doesn't make it interresting other than some occasional class discussion
Nice lady. Decently interesting class - kind of a pointless required class. Easy A though.
Easy tests, good videos and class discussions.
gives a lot of interesting material to add to her lectures. tests are kind of tough because the wording of questions is often confusing, but she tries to help her students do well
Soft spoken & hard to pay attention to. Follows slides & slides follow book (available on Bb). READ the case studies in the book & ALL outside articles. They ARE on the tests. Tests don't quite mirror the class-they focus on things slightly covered. However, plenty of opportunities for extra points (Discussion board, free questions, etc).

I was semi interested in this class but this prof has ruined it. I am a good student and always like my prof but she is just horribly unclear uninteresting. class was a waste of my life.
Watched a lot of videos. In fact, probably had more days where we watched videos than had an actual lecture. Her tests are worded weird but other than the class is pretty easy.
Great teacher. She brings a lot of information to class including videos. Gives alot of extra credit toward end of quarter. Great teacher!
Worst teacher in the World. She doesn't teach! All she does is read the slides. Mean to people who help her, and gives extra credit to people who don't attend class. Thinks she is the smartest person in the World, but is the most useless person I have met.
Amazing prof. Helps her students immensely. She brought in two top CEO's to speak to the class. Her international experiences add to the value of the class. For those of us who attend we learned a tremendous amount. She is empathetic with students, helps us with internships.
Would have been a great class if there was a better teacher. It was pretty worthless going to class.
I don't understand how she is a teacher? Her tests don't come from anything we discuss in class and I attended all of them. She just needs to have a seminar class so that she can talk about her "international experiences" to someone. That is all she does. I would be worried if she didn't have international knowledge because she is from India.
She doesn't have control of the class. We were in a large lecture hall (200 students) students would constantly talk and you couldn't hear her. She is unorganized. I helped her get caught up and she was rude to me. Try to find a different professor.
Not only did I not enjoy this class, but she was never prepared for class. She would constantly scramble through her power point slides and make mistakes. She would also tell us things would be on the exam when they weren't. I would not recommend her for this class, although I didn't have a choice.
You've gotta read the textbook. Her classes are boring and she's unorganized. Tests are tough and almost impossible if you don't read the text and the articles she posts online. Not the best teacher in the world, but its required, so bite the bullet on this one.
She is not organized and her lectures are mostly class discussions. She gave extra credit for attending class towards the end of the quarter because of the lack of attendance. Her tests are based on the book and the articles she posts online.
SHe was always really helpful and nice when i went in for help. She gets really cool speakers for class always, and definitely is able to make the material relatable with her stories.
One word...DROP...It isn't even worth staying the the class. This is the first time I truly believe I should get my money back.
If you have an interest in how the business world works outside of the U.S., then take this course. It discusses global economies, politics, free trade, WTO, etc. Good thought-provoking debates. Does require effort in reading, but well worth it. Tests are fair (if you studied)
Best class I have had, I learnt so much. Because the class is so large many folks skip class and end up making useless comments. Attend her class an you will learn so much.
This teacher is very organized, tests are predictablle, she draws upon her extensive international experiences and makes the class fun, she expects discussions. Keeps to the syllabus. Anyone who says she is stupid better have agood look at themselves. she's the best at UC. Moreover, I heard she has helped students with recommendations and jobs
Prof Apana has clarity, integrity and compassion. I could not have asked for a better teacher in Ethics.
This is an excellent class. Students who do not attend classes do badly. Some surprise quizzes are worth 5% of the grade. Great information from videos and her personal experiences in the business world. Loved it. Very knowledgeable instructor knows her literature, politics, economics and business. Well read and it came through in her lectures.
People should not be so quick to judge. I went to every class and studied. That does not mean I liked the class. I thought it was horrible. If you can't meet with her during her office hours...good luck. Always check your grades with her because she does mess up.
I can't understand why anyne would give a poor rating for this professor. The lectures often give a broad perspective on international business and the tests are easy. Read the chapters, look over the study questions, maps, and if you go to class fairly regularly you will get an A. The professor is always available and responds quickly to emails.
I was really interested going into the class. I attended every class, but would have been better off just studying on my own. The test is straight from the book, not what she goes over. If you need to meet with her because you have a few questions, you better not have a job because she is never around during office hours or when she tells you!
Prof is not bad. I just studied the articles she told us to read and the study questions and got an A did not really read the book. She has a lot of experience in the intb world and her stories and perspectives are great. Intb is growing and she asks questions that make you think and make sure to participate she loves that.
I thought in this class I would learn how to do business internationally NOW, not years ago. Unorganized and pointless.
great teacher. tries to be funny but is mildly humorous. grades easy and is very interesting
sometimes i wonder if she likes her job. read the ppt, sutdy maps, and those dumb videos and youll be alrite
So im sitting in this class right now and bored out of my mind!! Im gonna go leave now have a beer.
I enjoyed this class. She teaches from experience and she is funny. She's not a tough grader and she's pretty cool. She knows a lot about doing business internationally.
She is a very helpful teacher if you take time to show a slight interest--this teacher has some of the best business connections and always helps students get jobs internships and brings in alot of professional to network with. Her tests info is alot from the book...she seems very well traveled and makes the class more relatable
I really liked Prof Apana's class. She was organized, we had rubrics for all assessments, she introduced current issues from articles like in yesterday's financial or economic times, so the class was always up to speed on what we need to know. Downside, the class has 200 students, half do not turn up and wake up to the syallabus at the very end!
I learnt a lot in this class. Prof Apana brought in # CEO's into th eclassroom which was awesome. She is helpful, hardworking, and made the clas fun. She made an effort to gett oknow every student in the class. All our assignments were graded on time and she is not afraid to give you the grade you deserve. Yes it was hard work and challenging howeve
Loved this class. The teacher brought in many of her consulting experiences into the classroom, which made it a fun learning experience. Weekly quizzez and some participation work. She give individual attention even though she has 220 students. very helpful. Listened to CEO of Cincy Bell one class.
Don't take her class, if you do so, you will waste you life time.
Very helpful and a great teacher to talk to after class to help with job contacts. Often brings in CEOs or other business contacts from her consulting expereince. Loves class discussions--her participation grades are definitely boosted if partake in the discussions.
This was a nightclass during the winter quarter and was totally miserable. I never went though, and still got an A. You can share the book with friends, if you want, because all of the quizzes are online. The quizzes are easy and you can definitely use your book to look up answers. Basically impossible not to get an A in this class.
Dr Apana is methodical, organized, meticulous, she emails us when we do well in classwork she pays individual attention inspite of bigclasses.3tests,5 assignmen & 10 class presence make up the grade. She is passionate&experienced. Some extras: we hear world music, she has a cool twitter feed for the class.Connects her students to internships/jobs.
Straight forward, hard to do bad.
Never went to class. Read a chapter a day before the tests an you will get an A. tests are reasonable. Apana really cares about her students and sends you personal emails if you are doing well.
She does not gauge your interest, the video assignments she uses are so dated, and she does not adjust to her audience's reactions to her lecture. Overall, even though she is the only one that teaches the course, if you can avoid taking her course, AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS!!!
She is the only professor for this class, she gave five assignments and PRS in each class. she gave extra credit if you are doing well in PRS section. Exams are all PRS in each class. So GO TO CLASS TO GET A EASY A!!!!
She is not a good proof. She all over the place. She is not straight forward. She has a expectation for her student but never comply w/ student's expectation for class. She suck as a teacher. She is one to send and email about however due the next day of class at last minute.
I loved Dr Apana's class, her material helped me get the job the I wanted, I could answer all the questions in the interview because of her classes. She puts amazing effort into her classes, she is very generous with PRS participation and has so much consulting experience. Best Teacher ever!;)
The class was not super hard but it becomes difficult when you do not read the book or watch the 1-to-2 hour videos for assignments. It's a bit of a pain but Professor Apana explains that you will need to put in the effort at the beginning of the first class to get a good grade.
I took this course during a flex summer session so everything was really fast paced and condensed. If you read the chapters and used quizlet, the exams weren't bad. Assignments were obnoxious and usually required watching really long videos of poor quality.
She is extremely unhelpful and does not care about her students. If you have any issues make sure you harass her about fixing them because if you don't she will do absolutely nothing about it and your grade will suffer.
Professor Apana was terrible and had long boring lectures. She talks all class and is very dull and boring. Not a teacher i would recommend. she has you watch videos that were made before we were born. Very boring and hard to follow
Not an awful teacherclass but she expects a lot from her students. Lectures are long and usually pretty boring but she expects participation from the students. Tests are pretty hard and questions can come right out of the book without ever talking about it. She uses PRS and has said she plans on using the clickers instead of online in the future.
Long boring lectures with Indian accent, treats student like children with "group work" and basic vocabulary. Homeowrk is watching lengthy old 90s documentaries about Walmart and foreign policy. Class is pretty easy but at a brutal non engaging elementary level.
Great class! but 250 students! Read , answer questions, she will help connect you to people in industry. Instructor is very helpful, always pleasant in class, sometimes hilarious. Brings in so much of her international experience. I wish students would get off their open laptops and listen in class they would know what they are missing.
Her presentations are not clear. They follow the book, but you are much better off reading from the book and teaching yourself than expecting to be taught be her lectures. The clicker questions are the most useful. A lot of them appear on the tests, and you can get an idea of what she focuses on. Bottom line: STUDY the book & read ALL case studies.
Just Loved this class. Her experience is awesome and what I liked was that she showed us the relevance of the material we were reading to current news, real live happenings in the world. She always let us frame our own opinions.
Not going to lie, the lectures are very long and can be boring. She does try to get the class to participate, but it doesn't work out very well. Attendance is somewhat mandatory because of the random PRS questions. She curves the exams generously. If you study, you will get an A. Not a hard course. Not much homework, no quizzes, no group projects.
I am not going to lie. I just loved the class and the teacher. I learned so much. I took her class again on non profits and Human trafficking . She has amazing experience and is well Informed. One can talk to her about history , literature or biology and she is equally proficient in all these subjects
I loved Dr Apana's class too , her material helped me get my dream job, the the interview was a breeze because of her classes. She puts amazing effort into her classes, organizes experiential activities in spite of the large class , she is generous with PRS participation and has much consulting experience. Best Teacher ever! I agree! :) :)
Talk about a babbler. She's nice and means well, but her classes could be condensed to 1/3 of the length of time they are. She has large classes and asks questions trying to engage students, but they are frankly annoying and slow down the pace. I think most of the class zones out. Attendance is not mandatory, but points are given for activities/PRS
I simply love this class. I learned so much. be prepared to learn!
Easy A if you read what she posts on BlackBoard and follow the PRS questions. She's friendly and very knowledgable. It all seems a bit disorganized but it's not difficult. Not much HW, no group work, tests easy and generously curved.
I took her course in a small class of 30ish students. she was really confusing to me.. never really had clear guidelines for the big project we did. And her lectures were long and I honestly dont think I learned one thing in this class. Few homework assignments but she did offer extra credit just for showing up sometimes. no attendance, no book.
I loved the class! She actually gave us projects that were real time!. I now know how to start an export import business. Was it hard and did we work hard? yes we did! But it was so well worth it. She never graded us negatively on our projects and that helped too as we were able to build up our grade. 2 thumbs up! She was clear in her expectations
Do not take this teacher if you value your own personal time or are bored by pointless boring needlessly long lectures. Our last day of class instead of taking our exam, we had to watch a 15 min video and look at pics not even related to the class material. After that we "studied" for the exam until 1hr and 45mins into class we took the final.
Literally the best professor at UC. Helped me secure a job before I graduated. If you put in the work, she will take care of you. Lectures are always interesting thanks to her personality and work experience. Have taken 2 classes from her and received an A in all of them. Read the chapter before class. The class experience is valuable
I loved this class period! Instructor was great. Information was current and made me think. I got a lot out of this class. Dr Apana cares about students learning and being informed.
She is the definition of a rock. Her classes are comparable to the 6-6 tie between the Seahawks and the Cardinals. She almost gave us an exam a week early because she didn't know how to read her syllabus. As Billy Madison once said, "I am now dumber for taking this course. May God have mercy on her soul."
Dr. Apana is very knowledgeable but is a little disorganized. She's a sweetheart but I feel like the syllabus isn't even followed. Not as organized as some other professors I've had, but she is very helpful if you ask for it. Other than disorganization, she's a sweetie and good professor. Just be prepared to do a lot on your own.
Shows lots of videos and usually has a quiz once a week.
You have a quiz once a week but all of the answers are on quizlet. Her exams are pretty much the quizzes. You have to not try at all to get a bad grade. I never went to class, hardly studied and did good
Dr Apana, loves to teach and it shows. She exposed us to current information each class through video, graphs, news clips, so we looked forward to each session & learned so much about the world. If it is all about doing well on tests then use the study guides and study the text and you will do fairly well. I loved the interactive classes and games.
Professor Apana is a sweet heart, but a very bad teacher. I failed my first exam (25% of your grade) and still got a 98 in the class due to all the extra credit (9%). If you want an easy A, take her. If you actually want to learn, avoid her. She spends the entire class talking about nonsense. She'd be a better public speaker than a professor.
Not a good teacher in my eyes. Class was awkward because she wanted the students to read through the chapters before showing up to class so we could discuss it. We'd show up to class with no one reading the chapters, and when shed ask us a question about the reading, no one responded. However it was an easy A with the extra credit available.
She was incredible. This is everything I expected the COB to offer me. I felt I was actually getting something back that I will use in real life from this course. She loves to teach and she loves to watch us learn. She enjoys what she is doing and has a good time doing it. She is always willing to meet with students and talk with them
I agree, She helped me with an internship too. Great control of the material and caring professor. I learned a lot
I would not suggest taking this professor, teaches course ideas and theory then test over one sentence located in the 50pgs she wants you to read. Its more of a history class then the concept of international business, Not organized and has random attendance point that are a lot of your grades and waits till the last part of class to give them too
Attendance isn't mandatory, but she does a lot of in class activities that really impact your grade, so I'd still show up most days. Exams have nothing to do with what we learn in class, so go to review sessions and you'll normally get at least a C. Really nice lady, but just not the best professor.
Incredible teacher. She had a great way to start the class with Music. I was suprised by her depth of knowledge. I certainly learned a lot from this class. Her questions on the test were from my notes. She had some great activities too. She has a lot of business experience and is an entrepreneur herself. Was always available for questions.
Dr Apana is one of the finest professors that I have had. It was an honor to be taught by her. Compassionate, warm, genuine and so knowledgeable, she brings real world experience to the classroom. I have never met anyone like her. She cares about students, giving you her cell number to call if you ever have q's or need anything. Take her!
While Dr. Apana is a caring person, she is honestly is THE MOST disorganized professor I've ever met. The lectures are not related to the test. The syllabus is not accurate.
Loved the class. Clear guidelines. Very organized, on schedule . You need to make the effort to keep up with the schedule. Brings in great stories from her experience. Cares for her students. Loves her job and it shows. Study your text.
She was an amazing teacher. No matter your reason for taking her class, you'll love it! She really cares about her students and her job. She brings great enthusiasm and her extensive international experience to her lectures. Participation does matter !
Show up to get your attendance points and pay attention so you can pass tests and just about anyone can get an A
Ratee is a nice person. Her lectures seem to be all over the place sometimes but she mixes it up with activities to make things a little more fun. She cares about her students and it's clear that she enjoys teaching. Attendance is optional and you probably wouldn't miss a lot if you skipped. Exams are fairly easy and are all multiple choice.
Great class, but the lectures seemed to drag one. She'll tell everyone to buy the book, but there is no need to, it's a big waste of money. As long as you show up to class, do the assignments, and look over the previous quiz questions before the exam, you're sure to pass.
she is a very good professor, she made do manythings in class it wasn't just a lecture. she is funny and awesome
This was the worth class to sit through, but super easy. We asked her for our test to be online and she took a survey and everyone wanted it to be online
The class genuinely makes no sense. She has no organization skills or people skills. All the hw and quizzes are on Quizlet but the exams are awful.
This Prof is the most well read & well rounded profs at Lindner college of business. Her class is dynamic, she brings current global topics into the classroom, displays its relevancy & relates it to what we are studying in the book chapter in a very disciplined way. You can talk to her on any topic from finance to biology. I am in her grad class too
Dr Ratee Apana, is a real gem, genuine, caring. What I loved about her teaching was the way she wove real world events into her material. It made us understand the purpose the practical implications of the course so much better. She is one of the best read profs at school. Talk to her about any topic and she has a breadth of knowledge.
Dr Apana's classes were so much fun. She brought real world learning into the classroom. She is clearly one of the most intelligent and knowledgeable professors I have met. Talk to her about any subject and she has in-depth knowledge. She is very well read and encourages us to do so. Lot of respect for this fine lady.
