a lot of the reviews are genuinely from people who don't like to do work lol. i ended with a 105% in the class, it's not too hard. it's time consuming, but writing from his stand point and being open minded to what he's teaching isn't difficult. he's straight forward and talks a lot. if you don't like heavy-ish reading/writing then don't take him.

gives very vague prompts, and will give you a low grade with only "good try" as the feedback, dropped this class instantly because i felt like he would fail just cuz he felt like it, also is very opinionated so be ready for that

Don't even waste your time, even if you need the units. Doesn't teach history. He teaches his own beliefs and will fail and chew out anyone with differing beliefs/opinions. Was in a class where some students disagreed with something and he sent out a class wide message basically calling us all idiots. Don't see how this guy still has a job

Never knew when assignments were due. I think he assigned maybe three things and then an exam. Never really taught and just talked about his beliefs, there were no slides or really any lectures.

Professor Chavez attempts to provide an alternative view of history, but tends to often derail lectures into casual conversation, if you can handle at least trying to understand alternative viewpoints, then you will succeed. You do not have to believe in what he says to get an easy grade, you just need to have an open mind and try to understand.

This professor does not shy away with changing the narrative of the American History that has been taught for decades. He addresses underlying issues of contemporary society, and the history we have been conformed to know. Most might not agree with his projecting, but what is education if you are set only on your own limitations of what is reality.
