Hilarious prof, got to love how he addresses everyone as "Yes Chief"
"Chief" is the only world he said, that I understood
CHIEF "IT's the Martensite, not the Pearlite"
wow man he is good
Good prof. if you listen to him...he shares stories that helped me for the final
Honest guy trying to help, but too many jack****s in my class to mess him up.
Nicest Prof u'll ever come across & a fun guy with immense course knowledge
Very experienced. Very knowledgable. Best prof to teach materials.
HE IS THE SEXIEST MALE AT RYERSON
Everybody's is his friend. Give him a chance and he won't let you down.
when he leaves room for midtrms and u cheat dont think hell leave for final
nice guy, can't teach
Definitely knows what he's talking about. Excellent industry background.
Knows his stuff, can't teach, might be going crazy!
this man should be inplace of j.dimitriu as mech co-ordinator, he is the MAN,jump into his class whenever possible. u will get an A. unless you're an idiot!!!
Best teacher you will ever have
he is the best

MTL300 Final Exam is very difficult. He's a very helpful, knowledgable, and very experienced professor but the only problem is that he makes you copy way too many notes that your hand will start hurting after the 4 hr long lectures. Tests are easy though!
For sure one of the nicest profs at Ryerson. A genius in the field of Materials Engineering. Has earned lot of honour for his work. Has a positive attitude towards students and teaching and treats students with courtesy and respect. A really great person
Dr.Ravindran was amazing!!Greatest prof at Ryerson. Everyone should take his classes. He always gave us sample tests before our class tests and he gives you a pretty good idea on what to expect for exams. His notes are very clear and detailed.Smart man
Awesome prof. It was a pleasure having him teach us. All Profs should be like him. He knows his stuff and is very helpful. Practice all the questions at the end of each chapter. He often puts test questions from there or similar ones.
Very nice prof, but very hard to understand. The final is killer.
Very good and helpful prof. Always appreciates and gladly helps if you ask him questions. And Yes I agree that CMTL 300 Final exam is very hard. Definitely harder than MTL 200 exam, so better know your stuff really well
Good person, but I think he should make lectures more interesting, by actually DOING more numericals on the board, rather than making students copy tonnes of notes in each lecture, which makes it quiet boring sometimes.
Very interesting course presented in a boring manner which makes me loose interest in the subject
Awesome professor. Gave me my best grade ever at Ryerson
Great prof, great course. Such a nice guy. Always willing to help. His TA couple years ago was really good, he used to mark very linently on labs and midterms. Make sure you take Prof Ravi for MTL 200 okay?
can't teach to save his life. his notes are 20 years old and his test are unfair. He'd rather tell irrelevant stories about when he was working in the industry and how smart he is and how great he is than actually help you learn anything
I didn't really like his teaching style. He just makes you copy notes for 4 hours. And that same information can be found in the textbook. He was pretty good and fair for MTL 200 but much tougher for MTL 300. Very nice guy and really knows his stuff......
I wish he knew what he is teaching the only thing you would learn about his biography.
best prof I've ever had at Ryerson
bad bad prof. hard to understand, horrible notes unfair exams. doesnt want to help out on labs. i didnt learn anything from him, only from the text book.
Best prof at Ryerson. Not the best lecturer but He's Jokes. get to know him, do you work and you will get a good grade for sure.
Who cares that he jokes, he is the worst. If you like to not learn go to his class.
"I worked in industry for 25 years" and "my students are # 1 for me" ... all you learn going to his class, just read the book and ace this class easily.
he says his students are #1 but he doesnt mean it
This guy is the worst prof in the entire metropolitan toronto area. This guy is nuts, he is lazier then an injured donkey and his notes look like chicken scratch. The only reason Ryerson still has him is because he has been teaching at ryerson since the beginning of time.
Hard exam for CMTL 300
THE BEST PROFESSOR AT RYERSON UNIVERSITY
Great prof. Did a great job of seperating the interesting from the pedantic. If you are interested in learning the material I highly recommend finding a way to get into one of his classes.
Really nice guy. He was extremely good for the MTL 200 course. Detailed notes, clear at explaining. Great experience.

He's the most amazing professor I've ever had. If you work hard, you can get good marks from him.
He is Fun.. However his TA's Are the Worst Mother ****erz. LOVE U ALL

He is a great person and a great prof
He is a nice prof with good lectures. He makes jokes as you go along. He is very knowledgable, and a leader in his field of materials engineering. He likes students who work hard, and he tells you exactly what to expect on exams. Recommend this prof to anyone.
I found his first midterm very different from what everyone expected. His classes were funny, but, he didn't get aroud to teaching until there were about 15 minutes left. TA's are hard markers, but are excellent facilitators, and are exactly what they should be (Lukas is anyways).
Awufull professor, You better not take any course with him. He thinks that he is funny.
An overall amazing prof.
greatest prof at ryerson. He should be the Dean of Engineering
He is a amazing prof. If you would attend his classes and make yourself familiar with him then you will end up in A. very much helpful when you go personaly to see him. knows his stuffs well . good prof jokes around in class. treats all well.
He is really nice. Study hard and you're all set.
By Far the WORST teacher I have ever seen. For starters, you can't understand a word he says. Secondly, his notes are as bad as his speach. For on line notes you need a password which is not given unless you specifically ask for them. You'll need to study strickly out of the text book if you wnt to get near a pass. Avoid at all cost.
He was great. Best engineering professor I had at Ryerson. He is kind, caring, and has concern for the success of his students. I don't know why anybody would give him a bad rating. Alteast few years back he was easy and fair when I had him.
Has a very strong background and industry related experience, not only to teach, but to conduct research that helps the industry. His prioerties are more towards his research, and not so much teaching though. Always late for his lectures, his notes are not legiable and rarely does numerical questions on the board. Overall, garbage in, garbage out
The worst teacher I have ever seen! You can't understand a word he says, his notes are less than worthless and he constantly yells pout phrases like "You're the best", "You're number 1!", " You can teach me this stuff!". He always gets mad because we ask him to repeat stuff, but we ask because we don't know what he just said.
Best thesis prof ever. End.
Excellent prof, he reallly cares about your education and your success.
Greatest engineering prof at Ryerson. I got A grade in his class when I took him in summer 2002, everybody should take atleast 1 course with him. I had him for CMTL 200 and CMTL 300, beware, his exams are tougher in mtl300 so study hard!!! Memorize all lecture notes and do the homework and u'll be fine. He really cares for his students success.
Great person who cares deeply about his students. His accent while speaking will take some getting used to, but his stories related to industry are very interesting
HE IS THE BEST IN RYERSON
most knowledgeable, most genuine, most caring prof. he treats all students like his own children and has concern about your career and future so he writes fair exams although challenging but if you understood the course material well you will be OK 4sure. he is highly educated and professional with lots of degrees and tonnes of industry experience
Ravi is the best Prof ever. He cares so much and has many interesting stories. Treats students with respect and is very knowledgible
Best teacher ever .... I can't believe I left his class :( Definitely taking it again in summer school since im an idiot and even though I have a great prof i still fail :(
its true that students get good marks in his class due to increase mark but cannot teach properly :(
Ravi is really hard to understand.. and his notes are awful. Hes a really nice guy though and cares about his students (he even brought candy one day) his test and exams are HARD but he always bellcurves. Make sure you study really hard and don't underestimate how hard his tests are, and if you fail remain calm, everyone else probably did too
Great Prof. very helpful and down to earth, teaches extremely well, take pain for his students, very fare. a great human being.
Moderately useless.
AVOID! dropped the course because of him and would've changed my major if i had to!
Absolutely useless. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Tests are quite predictable but lectures are disorganized, unclear and basically useless.
Completely useless prof. Content is fairly easy though, so if you do all the assignments (and questions from the textbook similar to those), you can do well on the tests.
Exceptionallly good
Ravi is the best guy ever. He always thinks I am in civil engineering because he says I am a Civil man. I love that guy. Ravi is number 1!!!!
He is funny though sometimes the material can get really dry. I suggest going to class to be up to date on the assignments and he gives hints for the tests. If you get your hands on past tests then you are set. Also be sure you can do the assigned questions. If you do the homework expect atleast an A-.
He's really nice, pretty funny, and explains things well. However, he explains some things into the dirt and glosses over others, possibly screwing yourself over on exams. Read the textbook to go with his class. Otherwise, really nice guy. He's teaching all the other professors that teach MTL, so he knows his stuff
Good thing I'm not in mechanical. I would have to switch universities if I did.
Fam straight lit like bic , manz only talk to like half the class but he still cool. 10/10 would attend class
You cant hear him and he refuses to use a mic. If you don't get to class early enough to sit in the front you're gonna have a hard time learning anything and his accent is hard to understand. He starts teaching right at the beginning of the hour and goes the full 2 hours no breaks. I'm a straight 4.33 student but this prof is one of the worst
The worst professor in Ryerson
Prof. Ravindran is one of the better profs I have encountered. He teaches concepts in detail, and always asks for class participation. Encourages you to challenge his ideas so you can understand better. His notes are well written and simple, but exam are straight from both notes and textbook. Overall a very good prof.
seems like a great guy
Extremely overrated, one of the worst profs at Ryerson. He doesn't teach anything, he either reads off the slides or tells you to read te textbook. Useless. Avoid at all costs.
Avoid this professor at all costs! If you want to do self-studying the entire sem, he prolly is for you, but if you actually wanna learn from this class inside a lecture hall, nah this aint it.
Worst prof ever.
it is just impossible to learn something in the class. He explains some advanced stuff though that might be interesting for some. But if you're looking for a good mark, the book and lecture slides will get you an A.
Worst prof I ever had. Very hard to understand what he says. His notes are a total mess and his test are way harder than other profs for the same subject. You should definitely not choose him...
Really nice guy, but a bit old and out of touch. His notes are not great. Exams contain problems straight from previous exams or assignments. Friday 8AM lectures had 8 people showing up to his class. Lectures seem to go in circles. I still found them interesting, most people didn't. If you want to know your exam grade, you need to call him.
A genuine caring man. Once you get past the accent, he cares about the material he is teaching and conveys life lessons and course material in his lectures.
Sweetest prof, gives hints on what you could see on the exam. This is a university course so expect to have to do independent learning and textbook reading. The prof tries to give you the main points you must know for each chapter, you will have to do reading on your own to do well on the course. One of the best profs :)
Proff Ravi is a good proff, His lectures are super boring but and this is a big BUT, if you go to his lectures regularly and at least study for like half and hour every day you should be able to do really good in the course, bonus he gives you on point hint on what to expect in the tests.
He has a really bad accent and sometimes just reads off slides. However, he is pretty chill and caring. He also tells us what questions might be on the midterms and exams, so thats a plus
Terrible prof who doesn't explain stuff properly and doesn't even sound like he wants to be there anymore
Very good professor!! Always gives you ideas of what can come on a midterm or final exam. Make sure to study hard since this is the hardest first year course your gonna tale
