Very fun and interesting class! His personality is hilarious and is never boring. Two writing assignments are simple and exams are straight from the book! He will drop you if you don't consistently attend, but it doesn't hurt to attend class because it's THAT interesting and fun! He is very nice, I don't think Ive ever seen him be rude to a student

One of the best, most enthusiastic & passionate Psychology instructors I've ever had. Is so engaged in the subject matter, incredibly friendly and funny, and explains things very well. Not much hw, has extra credit opportunities, and easily passable exams. Really has the students' interest in mind. Highly, highly recommended.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. His tests are easy and he provides a study guide IN ORDER of the test questions. Only two one page writing assignments. Also, if the majority of the class misses a question on midterms he does not count it. Extremely passionate and truly cares for his students. Treats everyone as an individual. Fun class activities as well.

Ray was super comical and made every class fly by. He is very light hearted and is easy to understand. He keeps your attention and will joke with you. Not boring at all. 50 question test every 3 chapters, but gives you a study guide. If you study, its super easy. Gives study guide for final as well. :)

One of the best Psychology professors, probably just the best professor all around. Wish I had him teaching all of my classes! He gives out study guides which is basically like giving you the test answers. He does a lot of group activities, but don't let that scare you off because they end up being hilarious in the end.

This was my favorite teacher of all time out of the two years I spent at DVC before transferring. Take him. You will not regret anything.

Ray is one of the best teachers I have ever come across in my years of education. He is enthusiastic and inspirational. He brings in his own life stories in helping us understand the topic on a clearer basis and encourages discussion in mostly every topic, making the class more fun. 4 exams 1 drop, 1 reflection paper. This class was so much fun, super easy, and I learned so much. Dr. Ray is super laid back, it was literally the easiest class ever, but lectures were so interesting and in depth, and it gets you thinking outside of class. Really changes your perspective on life. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Dr. Ray is the BEST psychology teacher (and maybe even just the best in general) you can possibly have. He always makes class fun while teaching. Right before we take a test we would shoot a mini basketball and if you make it from a certain spot you get that many extra points to add to your test. Other than being fun, he's very inspirational.

My time in Psych 215 was my most enjoyable throughout my academic career at DVC. I took the course over the summer so it was not traditional 215 format. We used class time as a positive platform for discussion and building interpersonal relationship with our classmates. It was a transformational experience and we read two chapters a week, cake!

One of the nicest and most sincere professors Ive ever had. Relatively easy class. Dr. Faulkenberry makes his exams super easy. His study guides follow the exams exactly. The paper is very short. 4 exams plus final, he drops your lowest score. Its like he WANTS to give you an A.

Ray is a Fantastic professor. You have 1 assignment due at the end of the semester and the rest of the time you spend having conversation about the material and tests. The tests are simple if you do the study guide he gives you a week or two before the exam. It was the least stressful class and I would take any of his other classes in a heartbeat.

You need to purchase the software/textbook. There are graded activities that go with reading. For each exam he provides a question strand that are the exact questions that are on the exam. The answers to the questions can be found in the reading. If you get anything below an A it is because you are lazy. He has a great personality. Loved his class.

Take psych classes with Ray if you can. Not only is he goofy and energetic, he really cares about his jobs and his students. I haven't ever had a dull lecture with him and neither will you. plenty of extra credit + study guides with test questions! Summer class with him was a breeze. Professor Ray is very nice and genuinely cares about all his students. He also has a great sense of humor. His classes consist of him asking questions and then the class discussing them. This can be interesting at times and boring/annoying at others. The only problem is the tests that are based on the textbook which we never discuss in class.

I absolutely loved his class. Even though I won't need psych for my pre reqs, I am going to take another one of his amazing classes. It doesn't even feel like school. I have learned to most by him. But he never makes it boring ,at all. I will be sad to leave this class!

Truly one of my favorite teachers of all time. He cares about his students and his class is very easy if you show up. Lots of midterms but he gives you a detailed study guide that outlines all the questions. One of the only classes I really looked forward to going to.

By far, Dr. Ray is the most entertaining, charismatic, caring professor I have come across. If you are open to fun in-class group activities, paying attention to interesting lectures (because some of the examples he uses are on the test) and passing Psych 101 this is the class for you. This class was amazing, especially for a summer course. I took this class summer of 2018 and I was still able to have a social life outside of class. I definitely recommend this teacher I had classmates tell me they took another class of his and loved it. The energy is good and upbeat. You will not regret taking Psychology 101.

Ray spends most of lecture discussing modern psychology with humor and grace. I didnt even realize I was learning until I picked up my study guide and knew most of my answers without checking my textbook. His interpersonal research project is one of the best psychology projects you can do in college.

He is an amazing professor. He is easy going and doesn't put load on you. You basically get graded on 4 things in total exams, final and two activities that you do at the beginning of the class. The exams are easy he gives you the study guide and everything comes from the study guide so no need to stress. His is funny and makes lectures fun.

But the quiz's are very easy if you read the chapter, and they are so interesting. This class was not hard at all, just put in the effort and it is an easy A! He also gives really good feedback.

Just a great professor! He's a very helpful and understanding person and his class is easy while still informative. As long as you designate some time for his work it should be an easy class. He responds quickly and always provides good feedback on assignments. Just read the textbook and take light notes and you should be good to pass! I recommend!

Prof Ray is great. He is always willing to help and he does try his best to make boring material interesting. The one downside is that during his online course we had weekly discussions and quizzes, which was kind of a lot. He did give you clear study guides to use on his exams which were fairly straightforward. Overall good professor.

Kind professor that has a clear set of assignments to do per week, and simply expects you to complete them on time. When I messed up and missed work, he allowed everyone extra credit to be taken near the end of class. Thanks to that, I was able to bring my grade back up to an A. Pretty deeply "spiritual" guy, that has neat videos.

Ray's 101 class was very easy, my class was fully asynch, he offered the textbook for free online. Quizzes and discussion for every chapter but they were all simple and easy. He encourages notes for the quizzes, all multiple choice. Fast grader and provides feedback for discussions. My class was short-term so we didn't have any papers.

I took Rays Transpersonal Psych class back in fall 2020, and wow, it changed my life. He is a phenomenal teacher, and also just a phenomenal human! This class was amazing, and I wish I could take it again now. I will always remember him and this class.

Professor Faulkenberry is a great professor! I took his nonsynchronous class in the fall and I found it to be easy. Each week we had a discussion post to do w/ a corresponding test based on the chapter of the week. The tests were a breeze and the discussions were easy. He won't accept late work so really make sure to turn everything in on time.

Prof. Ray is the bomb! This class, Psych 240, is a look at spirituality and psychology. He loves students, wants them to succeed inside and outside of class, and had an awesome final of sharing your journey via a shoe you pick out and put in items that represent your journey. Way better than a test!

Free Textbook! Super sweet and loves his students! He responded at all hours and his grading was done almost immediately! I rate him the BEST professor I've ever had - BAR NONE. When I grow up, I want to be like Dr. Ray! Drop mic! Take him and you will not be disappointed.

Professor Faulkenberry is a great person, his class is fun and isn't hard. His book is a fun read but make sure to start it early (I read his 350-page book on the day it was due - don't do what I did). Make sure to do your assignments and readings, and you'll do good in this class.

This was one of the best classes I have taken so far. The professor is extremely caring for his students. Even through emails you can tell he is truly kind. There are weekly open note quizzes on the reading and a final paper on a book he wrote. The book is interesting and fun to write about. You have all semester to work on the reading and paper.

That comment was talking about the difficulty of adolescence and how he saw her that way in 9th grade. He's tying in real-life stories with content. The student is always complaining as I know exactly who she is. Gag! Dr. is da Bomb!

I have taken Prof. Ray for 3 classes and he sets his classes up to succeed. He has untimed tests, open notes, and engages everyone as he cares about your life, not just class. You can miss twice and then you start losing points as you have questions with other students that are fun that you need to be there to hear and record. He's awesome!

Professor Ray is amazing! The textbook was free and the book we read was around $13. Lectures once a week and they were super interesting. I recommend taking pictures of his slideshow notes and then taking notes using the online textbook!! QUIZZES & MIDTERM & FINAL ARE OPEN NOTE!!!! He's a great and easy to understand :)

Dr. Faulkenberry's fully online PSYC-101 class is straightforward. There is one discussion board and response, as well as a chapter quiz due each week. The textbook is online, and can take an hour or two to read each chapter and write good notes. If you're organized and diligent, you'll get an A easily.

Sad that mentally ill students give Dr. Ray a bad rating. He cares more than anyone and he has in-class activities that you need to be there to get the points. You can still miss several classes and still get an easy A. What I love is he uses cases/stories to illustrate points instead of straight boring lectures. My fav teacher of all time!

This class was UNREAL! No boring PowerPoint lectures! Class interaction was premium as we talked about chapter concepts and shared real life topics and a great chance to connect with classmates. Interpersonal Research done in class was the best thing I've EVER experienced in college and a blast. Ray is hilarious and wants you to succeed in all ways

Dr. Ray Faulkenberry was a fantastic professor to take over this past summer. The course was rigorous since it was a six-week course. If he offers extra credit, do it! I also took PSYCH-101 this past spring with him in person. He is super funny when he gives lectures and tells stories. I would happily take a third psychology class with him again!

Prof. Ray's PSYC101 is an engaging, if sometimes self-focused, class. The workload is light, but attendance is mandatory. Unstuck AI and the free textbook make studying a breeze.

Prof. Ray was by far the best professor I have ever had. He is extremely caring and professional. No matter the day, he had the most positive attitude and left whatever was going on personally at the door. He focused on relationship-building and fun lectures in his Psych 101. Let this be your final stop if you're debating on what prof. to choose.

Amazing and Hilarious!! He does connect what we're learning about to personal experiences. A quiz every week but if you do the reading and notes from class you'll be fine!!

I took this class online but you can still tell this professor is a stand up guy. He cares about his students and is very easygoing as long as you show care about the subject. Would of loved to have taken his class in person

Professor Faulkenberry is a great teacher! I only had him for the last month of the semester, but he is easygoing, caring, and very responsive to communications. I would definitely recommend taking him if you get the chance!

I always looked forward coming to class he would always crack me up! Overall class was easy!

10/10 easy class. Teacher is very kind. Initial discussion posts due monday night and 2 peer replies due wednesday night, every week. Weekly quiz, 2 midterms, ALL OPEN RESOURCE!!

It was always a good day whenever I had a class with Prof. Faulkenberry. He is verry intelligent, smart, and manages to have the entire class captivated. Very clear outline for homework and course direction. Highly recommend.

Prof. Ray is kind and organized. The workload is very doable, but you do have to buy the online textbook and a book in order to complete the assignments. The homework is the same most weeks (reading, discussion post, quizzes), and the canvas page is organized. The class, though, is very self-paced as there aren't any recorded lecture videos.
