Actually cares about students and wants them to excel. Lots of quizes and tests, but fair grader. Gives lots of chances for xtra credit. Has high standards and you actually learn something. Great strange and interesting personality.

I loved this class! I feel that Grizzle is a great teacher. He explains all aspects of the course well. He does give a vocab quiz on every chapter however he gives u the exact words to study so to me its a give-away. In order to pass all you need to do is study. He is kinda weird at. Good class 2 m

He's not the sweetest on the surface, but he's hrad working, dedicated, and if you plan on going to graduate school. he will prepare you. He won't allow you to sleep during class- if that's too demanding for you, don't take his class. I learned a lot.

His courses are harder than other teachers. Do not take him if you want an easy grade. If Psychology is your major, take him because he will really help you prepare. If Psychology is not your major, take somebody else. You will definitely learn alot. He has a different way of teaching.

He is great, a very creative style for the people who are there to learn. His class is engaging and so interesting that some of his students take him more than once. He expects you simply to apply yourself. If you are ready to work and lear techniques for your career. This is the class to take.

he gives you all the quizzes and exam essays and the rest is up to you. it really couldn't get any easier. his class also helped me excel in human biology, which was required for me as a social work major.

Professor Grizzel is by far the best professor I've had within my two years at Lehman. He is funny, professional, informed, and a great educator. He is kinda radical in a sixties kind of way, but that is a refreshing change from some of the staunch and stiff professors I've had since. He make coming to college and learning fun and interesting.

Some might say he's too tough, but he gives you a syllabus with everything he's gonna give you on it. He tells you what's on the tests and exactly what's expected...all you have to do is study, and there is no way to fail. Plus, he's pretty funny.

This professor has been the best professor I've had during my entire college experience. He is very knowledgeable, funny, and different (in a good kinda way). He gives reviews right before exams, the midterm, and the final; so as long as u study u will do fine. U will learn a lot of interesting things and it's easy to get an A.

The most challenging professor I have had. A lot of work, a lot of reading, and a lot of very useful information for other classes in school and in life. Be prepared to work and enjoy a different style of teaching. You will either work and do well or you will do little and fail. He expects a lot. He wants the students to be successful in life.

Ok ppl lets be serious he is not that hard he gives you a syllabus with all the work, if u dont have time or cant take the pressure 2 actually do work then dont take the class He doesnt force u 2 come 2 class or pay attention But he really is a great professor, and dispite the fact that he says he knows nothing, he does & hes a quite a character.

He is a great teacher! He gives wonderful lectures: interesting, humorous, and informative. He gives both challenges and encouragement. He wants his students to be successful. In my class, 5 students out of 12 were exempted from the final because they already got A in this course, including an ESL student. The best professor I ever met!

Funny, articulate, caring guy. Wants everyone to "get it". He can be a bit abbrasive and impatient at times. Also seems to be obsessed with obese people since he mentions obesity in every class and I think it hurts some of the obese students feelings. He is a good teacher though.

I find him to be a more than brilliant man. He captured my attention with his mumbled side comments and his very real view on life. I wish to see more professors like him. He cuts the BS and gets to the point, answers questions in every sense that it needs to be answered and gives you everything you need to pass the class on the first day!

I dropped general psych the first time around because the professor was dull. Took it with Grizzel a year later and he really woke me up (considering that it was an evening course). He is really good and really knows what he is talking about, he is charismatic and really helps his the students.

Fun, enjoyable and very interesting. I loved his class and woke up on saturdays to be there at 9:00. Did not regret it. He gives great reviews for the exams. I would take him for another class if it were possible.

He expects way too much from students. The Summer course he teaches are apparently worse than the regular semester since he covers all the work and doesn't drop any of the material like other professors do. He also does not allow for people taking more than one course. Out of our class of 25 students, 9 passed. The rest either dropped or failed.

Best Professor out there. Makes class interesting, enjoyable and funny. I have taken three classes with him and altho he may give quiz and writing papers plus exams, they end up really helping a lot. Helps every student who asks and gives good advices. A++ professor

best teacher ever! he gives alot of vocabulary quizzes and summary but they're notimpossible no more than 5 pages and he only expects a paragraph or two about them. gives you all the things to study day 1, so if your organized hes perfect. really keeps you up in class .do not expect him to care if ur slacking. he's there to help when you ask for it

Pushy and sometimes rude. Every other day there is an exam, quiz or sumQ (chapter summary) due. Very hard to keep up with but if you are organized then it is easy to follow. Chapter outlines, projects and etc ALL give/posted so NO EXCUSE. Only thing not provided is the textbook or your desired grade unless you work for it. You have been warned LOL

this professor is excellent and extremely helpful to his students, he works very hard and thanks to him i grew a stronger passion towards psychology. he is an excellent professor

when I first went to class, I was take aback by Rays eccentricity, but after I got in the groove, he turned out to be a cool guy. He makes you write a summary each week on an article that he provides, and he will make you work. Ray reminds me of a throwback to the sixties, and is quirky, but he is a cool dude.. do the work, and participate.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is what I call a real professor!!!!He is the best!!! and he keeps the class lively, I love his jokes and his work is easy just study and you'll be just fine. He is wonderful!! Unconsciously, you will change your work ethics and he will show you how to improve in ur studies. You wont regret having him!!

If you want to know psychology, take his course. I strongly suggest you, if you become students. He gives great example for each theories. His class is tough but strongly motivative.

He is an awesome teacher ! his class is a litttle hard in terms of the work load but he gives you a syllabus in the beginning of the semester everything you need to hand in. Once you study the syllabus, youre good to go. You learn something new everytime you come out of that class! its a great great course ! definitely recommended !

This course was very informative. He really kept me awake and i learn a lot about myself. He appeared not to like lazy student. There is a lot of work to be done in th class but he is so great at teaching that you barley notice. As long as you read the chapters and look over his handouts before the test you should get an A. Very smart man aware of what and how the world works and he is also willing to share all knowledge with you. Work was very informative and whats learned can be used in life experiences. The class is a hybrid course and he is extremely clear about what and how the assignments are to be completed which made the course completion very smooth.

Laid back. Clearly explains everything. Simple assignments. Makes everything easy. Always jokes around, but remains on topic. Wish I could take him for more classes. Definitely reccomend. No textbook needed. He puts few articles on Blackboard. You probably won't even need notebook. Info/curriculum is useful even if it's not your field

Be prepared to read and write ALOT! The more you write, the better your grade will be in the end. Take his class!

Superb professor with a great sense of humor.

I've taken this professor twice and I'm practically begging the dept to allow me to take him again (i'm waitlisted). He's super smart and inspirational. HE WILL GIVE YOU WORK but it's not "busy" work, it will pertain to the class/ subject and life. I got an A in both his classes and learned SO MUCH! VERY engaging, I HIGHLY recommend his classes!

Professor Grizzel is great. His straightforward style of teaching inspires you and leaves you thinking about how you can improve yourself through your thoughts and interactions in daily life. It feels as if your getting advice from a favorite uncle., good, practical advice and it's a college course. There is a lot of work but it's worth it.

Great Professor! No matter what course your taking, the things you'll learn will help you throughout your life. He's very straightforward. Lets you know whats expected. Up to you to put in the work. Can be a bit sarcastic but it's part of his charm. EVERYONE should take a course with him. You won't regret it.

This class was the MOST intensive writing class I've ever taken but, all in all, it was well worth it. It made me a better student when it came to writing papers and Prof. Grizzel is an extremely smart and funny professor who is so knowledgable in class and about life in general. He's worth it. A Professor who you have to let grow on you,meaning should I drop this class? He's sarcastic in a humorous way. To pass you have to participate on DB often. Professor Grizzle is a solid Professor who really seems to care about students. Lectures are interesting and grades are reasonable. Consistently told the class what we needed to know before we needed to know it to stay in good standings to get a good grade.

Great Class. Learned a lot not only on the topic of returning home, but about myself. Highly recommend this course. A lot of writing, but worth it because you get feedback. The lectures are great, as he involves the whole class and makes the time fly.

After taking Prof Grizzel in the Fall, I took him again in the Spring. The course was hybrid so attendance is mandatory as you only meet seven times on campus. Another great course. Learned a lot on the topic of bullying and a big eye opener. A lot of writing, but worth it because you get the feedback.

As an adult one is asked, "Who was your favorite teacher"? and now I can honestly answer this question! Ray is by far the most knowledgeable professor I've ever had. I'm not even midway through the semester and don't know what grade I'm going to get, but I've learned so much on so many levels. He actually cares, don't let his sarcasm fool you!

This class is for serious students. Prof Grizzle is not an easy A. If you put in the work you will be rewarded. There is much to be gleaned from this class for those who want it. Also, be prepared to turn your cell phone off for the ENTIRE class, He is like a hawk, he sees everything and it will cost you points if you mess around on your phone.

Professor Grizzel is a great professor. Although he may come off very sarcastic, he really cares about the students doing well. This class is more about the class participating in discussions. Discussions are open to anything and it gave us a chance to learn from others feedback. Just do your sum q's and post on discussion board often.

Professor Ray Grizzel is a good professor. I think his class was very educational and it gave me a better understanding of the challenges people face when they are re-entering back into society from the military or incarceration. I would recommend his class to other students. I look forward to taking other classes he facilitate.

He is stern and consistent, he sees right through people and is a very good judge of character. His classes are life changing and to take his class is to want to improve your life in one way or another. Hes Original! Him!

Be prepared to do a lot of writing in his class as well as keeping up with the discussion boards and surprise pop quizzes. If you miss his class you lose points. Point accrued during the semester with work/attendance. Avoid being late for his class because points will be deducted. Cellphones and other electronic devices arent allowed during class

Professor Grizzel is a great professor. Many don't understand his humor, and take things to heart. His way of teaching is a little different from all the other professors I have taken, he sure does make one work hard. But in the end he means well, and if you do your work and show him you care about the class you got yourself an A for the course.

I learned a lot of things this semester, (poor Bobo for one), about things that are VERY useful in every day life, and I'm happy to have learned so much in just 3 weeks. Do ALL HW and get ready to read a lot, but if you do ALL the work and go to ALL classes, you will be rewarded with good practical knowledge and more. A+

Professor Grizzel is truly amazing. He has a very interesting approach to teaching. He does come off a bit strange the first few days of class, but its just his strange sense of humor. He does give writing assignments every week and there is online discussion boards which you have to participate in. If you want an A in his class then do your work.

Took Professor Grizzel's IBA 150 course for death, and felt that the course was a really meaningful educational experience. This course was great because of his teaching style and the set expectations, through which I felt I was able to effectively learn the material (doing SUMQs), and grow through the learned materials by applying it to my life.

I did not know what to expect and I could not have anticipated it anyway. Simply excellent and far more than I could have hoped for. Don't know what else to say. Yes - lots of papers, lots of reading, and a different, kind of odd instructor. Somehow it worked and it was worth all the work. No, I am not dropping the class!

The semester is finally over, and I am extremely relieved it is. If you sign up for a class with Prof Grizzel be prepared to work! You are expected to read approximately 20-page chapters (sometimes more, sometimes less) and write a paper weekly. It's a lot of work but pays off. He is blunt and to the point so don't expect to be handed a grade

Great Professor. He expects a lot out of students, but doing the work exactly how he wants it is worth it. He is specific, and it could be frustrating but it will change how you write papers for the rest of your life. He has a lot of great information, I have taken two different classes with him and I wish there were more professors like him.

Proof Grizzel cares for his students. At first he is a little intimidating but after you get used to his style you will be fine. Lost of reading and writing but it is worth it at the ends. Interesting topics that are good to know in real life. I would recommend him 100%.

This is a life changing class whether you are inspired from what you learn or because of the skills that you learn to be able to apply to your self or someone else's life. Be ready to read every week and have an assignment due weekly. Active participation is necessary and you will use Blackboard everyday. Put the work in and you'll pass!

At first I wanted to drop his class and Im super happy I didnt. His way of teaching is very different. You leave his class learning a lot of different skills that can help you on a daily. Hes very sarcastic & a tough grader, yet it only helps you to become a better writer. If you dont have a sense of humor, this is not the class for you.

He is a truly sarcastic professor, on another note his class had been one of the best i ever taken in years. The material he uses really help you with your own life issues. I would say if your not ready to read every week and implement it for your own then don't take it. But again you won't regret it !

Probably the best college class I have had after three years of college. He's very smart and quick and, yes, he is sarcastic. A bit of work that was relevant and interesting. He expects good work and will help you make it happen. I learned more in this class than all the other classes this semester together. And I will remember it too.

Professor Grizzel has a very unconventional teaching style. He is very versed and has a lot of knowledge to offer both on and off topics. The more engaged the students are the better the class. Took two classes with Professor Grizzel last semester, and decided to take him again for the fall. He comes off as tough and hard to read, but he really is a good professor. He is a tough grader and does expect a lot from his students, but he is very smart and I learned a lot from his classes. Be prepared to do SumQ papers every week.

Fantastic, he took what is a complex subject then simplified the points through humor and frankness. He gives every class 100% and even after I've moved on I still practice the lessons I've learned. Despite being tough on the outside he is not there to trip you up, he wants you to succeed but you need to do exactly as he tells you from the start.

One of the best Professors ,I've ever had. First impressions are not everything, give him a chance. Super caring and smart. Def undertsands alot about life. He gives teaching a whole new meaning. Put in the work and you will def get your A. Wish I could take another class with him.

Hold yourself accountable and hand in your assignments by the due date and you will pass his class. He's going to be upfront with you and all you have to do is hold your end of the bargain. His teaching style is different in a good way and he's very genuine about what he's speaking about. Give him a try and you will end up liking him. Great class!

So the prof is a great guy himself. i enjoyed his classes/lectures. the readings were about 25 pages weekly & a paper would have to be about two pages long. no big deal right? except hes such a hard fn grader and the grading rubric is confusing. take another IBA class. in his syllabus it says NO ONE EVER GETS AN A NOR GRADES PAPERS HIGHLY EVER.

Professor Grizzel was amazing & I highly recommend him. He is very sarcastic but funny and approachable. It's pretty straight forward. SUMQ weekly & reading (approx 15-20pgs). DB is good for extra points. He explains to you what he is looking for on his papers so there are no surprises. Put in the work, attend class, and you will have no problems.

You MUST be present for class! You MUST do your all of your homework assignments, participate and be engaged in the class in order to pass. He does not care for excuses so save them or keep them to yourself. JUST DO THE WORK!

Although the reading is a lot, and you will literally have a SUMQ every single week, the work is very interesting and as long as you follow the directions and do exactly what he wants in the papers, you'll be in good shape. I will be taking another course he teaches in the fall.

He lays out in his syllabus what he wants and gives you a template for your papers. A sumq paper a week and a 20 page paper that he broke down into two pages per class. He reviews your work and gives feedback. There are discussion boards for extra credit.

Prof. Grizzel is amazing. His class are fun and engaging. Easy A if you do the work. He tells you what he wants. You will have a SUM Q every week but I assure you that it not that hard. The reading are lengthy but not difficult. Attend his class daily and you should be fine. Participation matters to him as well.

Amazing professor. The class interactions were great and the material was very interesting. Be ready to work and you will get so much more than you expect. Easily one of the best professors at Lehman College. If you read and follow the instructions and feedback he gives you will get the A. Take him for a one of the kind experience.

Grizzel is an Amazing professor! I'm NOT gonna sugar coat it. He makes you work for the grade. You get a 10-25 page reading every week, along with a SumQ expected to be 10+ pages long. The readings are great, very informational, and interesting. Participation matters! Just show up, Participate, and do the work. You'll be fine and get that A.

This man is VERY smart and funny, but you have to get used to his humor. You read a lot and write a lot and you learn a lot. Be ready for an interesting experience with a one of kind professor. Learned so much and had a good time learning. He is particular and clear in what he wants. So many want to take his multiple times.

This course is actually very straightforward, and everything is laid out on the syllabus. I recommend finishing the first assigned paper before the due date so that you won't have to play catch up on every paper, since there is one every week. Respectfully, if you put in the EFFORT you will PASS. Lot of people complain and have crappy work ethic.

I have taken Professor Grizzel three times in three different courses and I have gotten an A in all of them. Does he give lots of Homework? Yes, but it is doable if you put in the time and effort. I was told before I ever took him that he was not everyone's cup of tea but he is definitely mine because I know exactly what to do with him.

It's a lot of reading but stay on top of SumQ's and you'll be fine. The professor is insightful and I learned a lot in the class. He can be sarcastic so be ready for that, but he cares about his students and am glad I got to take a course from Grizzel.

My favorite by far, Insightful, knowledgeable. Just do the assignments and you will do great in the class. This is a great class to build personally not just for a grade. Highly recommend to take it, not just for the prerequisites. - JB

First, you should know that you pronounce his name "Grizz-el", so it rhymes with gazelle. Second, he's an amazing teacher and cares about his students. He is sarcastic sometimes but always well meaning. He believes in what he teaches and has a common sense approach about his teaching style and materials. You get the grade you deserve in this class!

I really appreciate what I learned from this course, and professor Grizzel was very insightful and inspiring. Just make sure you stay on top of SumQ's and you'll do fine in the class!

This professor knows far more than he shows. Yeah, he is sarcastic, but he is VERY smart about how people work and the work he assigns. He allows everyone to have a voice. A one-of-a-kind and great teacher. There is work and you will learn more than you realize. I have gotten much better at writing and thinking because of him.

So Professor Grizzel is very nice and he just wants to see the best in everybody. I personally really enjoyed his content and a lot of what I learned from him resonated with me and impacted me. He worked with me when I was going through so much and I will never forget that kindness he showed me. He can be sarcastic but you learn to love him for it!

Others have said it, easily one of the best professors at Lehman college. Different way of teaching, different sense of humor, at times sarcastic, but very very knowledgeable and has much insight into how people work and changing people. You work, you learn, you get skills, and you will be very happy you experienced him. A must take instructor.

Professor Ray is awesome. It takes a while to get used to his sarcastic sense of humor, but once you get to know him you can tell he means well. There is a lot of writing and reading involved in his class, which could be a bit overwhelming, but you learn so much from the readings. He gives you feedback to make sure your work is good.

He is very knowledgeable and has a different and effective way of teaching. Quick, sarcastic at times, insightful, encouraging, and really knows his stuff. A must take instructor. Easily one of the top 3 teachers I have ever had. There is work, but you learn much more than you think you were learning and you get skills for life. You must take him.

He is very knowledgeable and insightful. His sarcastic humor is all in good fun once you understand his perspective on the topics he talks about in class. He opens the class for open discussion with the students and gives honest feedback. I would definitely take his class again as I feel like it opened my mind to a lot.

He is different in a really good way. He is really knowledgeable and if you do the work, he will help you. Never had a teacher like him and it is an amazing experience.
