Dr. Mohseni is the best chemistry teacher at ETSU. i actually had him for Chemistry 1 & 2. he is kind of hard to understand at first, but he has very good english. if anyone has to take Chemistry 1 & 2, take Dr. Mohseni!!!

Very fair, takes into consideration attendance for extra points.
He uses over-writen, poor quality slides and many ineffective means....this guy has no concept of how to teach a large class. I learn chemistry by reading myself, not from him. Grading is not very objective. You really learn nothing from this class.
He is extrememly intelligent and caring. If you go to his door, it is open and he stops everything to help! Chemistry blew my mind before his class...He is one of the best professors I have ever had!
I really enjoyed having him in Intro to Integrated Lab. There were only 2 other students in the class with me. Everything was graded fairly. He even wrote me a letter of recommendation.
This class material wasn't hard at all.Dr. Mohseni was very hard to understand and he wasn't helpful for me one time.I went to his office for help and he told me that he didn't have anytime. After that I quit going to class. Maybe he has changed since then, but just pay close attention in class.
he is a great chem teacher. he is demanding with the ammount of material, but he will help whenever and whereever u need it. I would take all my chem clases with him if i could. and he is amazingly hot and his accent is awesome
Pretty good chemistry teacher. I've seen some truly bad ones, but this guy is great in comparison. Print off the notes to save your hand some writing, go to class for extra credit, and pray you get a decent lab teacher...
He is an ok teacher. I took Chem 1 four years ago and I am doing well in his class.
I love Mohseni. He's a laid back nice guy, and his accent isn't hard to understand at all. There were about 4 quizzes, easy if you pay attention, but tests werent that easy. I was a straight A student and I got solid B's on the tests, going to class everyday. I would recommend him for Chem, nice guy
Very cool guy. Go to class and print out the notes and you will do fine. If you need help, go to him and ask...he will remember you and your will to learn when he assigns final course grades.
Basically you learned by your own cuz he just read the handout and transparencies. He was not available in his office, not willing to help basic questions.
He is fabulous, whenever I have a question he is more than helpul! All you have to do is study his notes and do the homework assignments (which is very easy) and you are good to go!
He is awesome. Of course Chemistry is no fun and hard, but if you have to take it take him. His notes are easy to understand. He is so helpful and very nice. His test are from the notes. Studying is required with any Chemistry class but he explains in great way!
Dr. Mohseni is a very clear professor. He makes study guides for you and fills them out during class. The tests are from the study guides so know them well, if you miss one or two concepts it could drop you test grade down fast. He seems a bit rushed when you ask him questions, but he is generally nice.
He is a very nice and intelligent man, but he doesn't really teach the material very well. He speeds through the problems and skips steps in them and you feel completely lost.
He is a nice man and tries to be funny. He teaches pretty well but if you do not understand even 1 concept you will lose alot of points on the tests....each question is worth on average of 7pts so you can lose an A very quickly....good person but ok teacher.
Would Highly Recommend
I took Mohseni for Chem I. He posts notes on blackboard and leaves sections blank that he works through during lecture. I wouldn't say that his tests are easy, but if attend class, follow the notes, and attempt the assigned problems you should do fine. Mohseni taught in a manner that I could actually understand and was never demeaning when expln
I really like him as a person. He's a pretty good teacher, but he kind of hurries through the material, and leaves you with questions. I like the way he sets up his notes, where you fill in the blank. I also think his tests should have more questions, because if you miss 1 question you lose an A. All in all a good teacher.
does everything he can to help. very good teacher.
he is an awesome person. he has become one of my fav. profs. he is always available to help. he does not hurry through. many students from other prof's classes sit in on mohseni's class b/c he explains stuff so good. i give him an A for teaching.

He knows his stuff and teaches it well. His notes are very clear and he tests straight from them. Doing the exercises in the book will help even more. He rewards effort and always answers questions. Very helpful, very fair, a very good teacher. Take him if you can.
Dr. Mohseni is the best chemistry teacher I have had so far. He really understands the material and does a good job of conveying it to the students. He posts notes online and follows them almost exactly. His test aren't that hard either. Very friendly and willing to help.
Chem 1 and chem 2 uses blackboard notes. He is very helpful.
Awesome teacher. He posts notes with blanks to keep your attention in class. Gives you study guides that cover everything that will be on the test. Fairly liberal grader. Helpful with questions in class and in office. Great lab instructor too.
He is not one of those teachers trying to weed out the weak. He wants everyone to understand chemistry. He's pretty charming, too. Fair grader w/ partial credit. I remember one thing he told us before the final, "Please do not fail. I get real nervous when I have to write 'F' and I start shaking." so cute!
Chem and Well being (chem. 1000). He is an excellent teacher!! He knows his stuff and explains it in a way that makes sense! I had a huge fear of chemistry but now I love it!! He really cares about his students and wants them to learn! It?s a great class if you don?t have any chem. Background but need to take a lot of upper chem.
A great class with some fun experiments to do at home. Prof. Mohseni makes it easy to understand some difficult concepts, and the course provides some perspective on the relevance of chemistry in day-to-day life.
Great professor. Take him, especially if chemistry is not your area of expertise. Highly recommend.
Periodic Table Message: 29, 52. Replace with chemical symbol to decode the comment!!!!!
He is a great teacher! I took AP chemistry in HS so it made the class easy. If you are taking chem for the first time in college take HIM!!!! He gives you notes to fill out as he does it on the board. If you study your notes you can get an A on all of his tests! no need to read out of the textbook.
his class was pretty easy just pay attention, use his notes and copy everything he does on overhead. as far as his helpfulness...he wasnt very helpful, the lab teacher screwed up my grade on an experiment at the end of the semester and i emailed both him and her and he was VERY ugly to me about it telling me i wasnt an "a" student he did not fix it
As far as actually caring whether his students understand the material, Dr. Mohseni is the best in the ETSU Chemistry Dept in my opinion. He had a good understanding of the information he was covering, thus could answer questions clearly (rather than deflect them and move on like some do). I would definitely recommend him!
One of the best teachers on campus. I actually enjoyed attending his lecture. Wonderful teaching style, fair, and eager to help. He is very laid back and will help with absolutely anything. You do have to pay attention, but he makes that easy. Very very easy to get an A in his class. Who take him for absolutely any class!
He never got back to me through email. Whenever I had a question, I would email him. Not once did I get an email from him all semester about anything.
He has 4 exams , three of them will be in Test Center in the Library. I studied very hard for one of them and I got 50 of 100 . Then, I drooped the class .The forth exam will be in class . Believe me this class is very hard with this teacher because he thinks he is genus chemistry and students have to be like him even if your major not chemistry
very hard class, took all my time, Labs are long. I hate this class
Had him for lab. IT was taught by a TA but the book was written by him and it wasn't very clear. The assignments are tough and they don't match your lecture at all. Be prepared to learn from google.
Mohseni is a great professor-- as long as you go to class. He posts all of his notes online so it is tempting to skip, but if you skip it is almost impossible to pass. He gives 4 exams, but drops the lowest one if you attend 80% of the lectures. Doesn't regularly take attendance, so its hard to know if you've been there 80% of the time.
He posts notes and goes over them in class which is helpful. If you ask a question in class, he rushes through the explanation and can be very unclear. I used lots of YouTube tutorials, the book Chemistry for Dummies, and the textbook to learn the concepts. Told my class we had to teach ourselves certain things because he didn't have time.
Mohseni is one of the best teachers I ever had. His lecture notes that he gives us grab our attention in class and keep us focused. Makes class fun to be in. Chemistr is naturally a hard class for alot of people, but this teacher will do any thing to help you learn. You put in the effort and good grades are guaranteed. He is there for you Take him!
Be ready to study and practice a lot. It will pay off. He is very helpful. He will answer all the questions you have. Pay attention in class it is much easier. He has lecture notes which is eventually found it to be useful. Nice person. Occasionally cracks jokes in class. As long as you have done ur part the class is pretty good.
He is really there for you. I seriously struggled with gen chem 1 and 2, and he helped me every week whether it was office hours or not. He genuinely cares and is a sweet old man. I wish I could've taken him for organic!
His lectures and "guide" are so vague. He thinks you already know how to do it before you get there and the tests are harder than it should be. Get ready to do extra problems a week before the test to pass. Also lab makes you hate chemistry if you already didn't.
Dr. Mohseni is an amazing professor who loves to teach and spread his knowledge. He will work with you if needed and gives amazing lectures. However, the tests are hard and there is only a handful of grades taken in the course.
Worst Chemistry prof I have ever had. Most of my class was at a C average or failing. His tests were extremely difficult and he did not adequately prepare you for them or the ACS test.
Mohseni is a great teacher. His tests are consistent and he makes it clear what you are expected to know for them. He has an accent but it's understandable. I had him for gen chem 1 and 2 and wouldn't have wanted anyone else. He drops your lowest test grade if you're there 80% of the time. He's much better than some of the other chem professors.
Dr. Mohseni is a wonderful professor. You are only graded by the tests, lab, homework, and the ACS final, which is curved. He is great at conveying information well, and will go out of your way to help you after class or during his office hours. If you're taking general chemistry, take him!
Explains things well, but tests are impossible. The grading scale in the chem department is much more lenient than average, but it doesn't help. I am an honors student but could barely pull a 50 on any of his tests. Not worth it if you care about your grade.
Dr. Mohseni is a great professor, but chemistry is not an easy subject so you have to work for your grade. He explains very clearly and is very accessible outside of the class. His lecture guides are a life saver, and he gives "study" guide so no curve balls are thrown at you. He is very equation heavy so make sure you memorize them.
Dr. Mohseni is honestly a great guy. He does teach quickly, but there are SI sessions to help you if you need it. I love his class so far!
Lecture teaches you nothing, his "notes" vaguely relate to the test material, and his exams are nearly impossible to make above a 50 on.
He grades exams very quickly and is always asking if the class has question. If you have questions, ASK. He also has a great sense of humor which is very helpful in keeping students engaged in such a difficult course. Challenging class; you get back what you put in to it. Print out his notes and pay attention in class.
Dr. Mohseni is amazing. If you go to class and take good notes, it is an easy A. Whenever you have questions, he is always willing to help you in his office. Others complain that he is hard, but its because they never pay attention. He has a little accent but easy to understand. I would highly recommend him.
Dr. Mohseni is a great profesor. Lectures are helpful, especially the lecture guides. He clearly defines his expectations for each test and is willing to help students with homework or lab work. If you attend 80% of the lectures your lowest test grade is dropped. Chemistry is a hard class and studying is a must, but with Mohseni an A is possible.
Dr. Mohseni is an amazing professor. This class was an easy A. Print out the notes that he puts on D2L and the class will be a breeze. Hes hilarious and an overall great professor. People say his class is hard because Chemistry is a hard subject, but if you pay attention and really try to learn the material, youll be fine. Amazing class.
great teacher, hard class
Mohseni is a pretty good teacher, but Chemistry is a hard class. He works lots of problems on the board, and goes through all the steps fairly clearly. He's way better than the other teachers, so take from him if you take this class. I wouldn't have passed if it wasn't for outside resources though, so come prepared and ready to work for grades.
Tough class, great teacher. Dense material, must study outside of class. Makes chemistry digestible as a student. Only complaint would be the lab section. Lab midterm and final tests were difficult to study for because we were told to study all labs, which is an absurd amount of information to be tested on. Other than lab, great class.
Mohseni is a great teacher given that he has to teach a hard class. He is very personable and really tries to work with you to the best of his abilities. This class overall is very hard so be prepared to work hard and put in some effort. Beware of the lab instructors they are not very helpful. Overall Mohseni is a teacher I would recommend.
The class was fine but its definitely super easy to let your grade slide in there.
Seriously, this class was a breeze. Mohseni is a fantastic teacher and explains how to do all of the problems very well. Was easy to get ahold of and always responded with in a couple hours of sending an email. Gives you the answers to the quizzes and homework so you can study for the exams. Truly a gem at ETSU for chemistry.
Tests are fairly difficult. Go to class, he doesn't always take attendance, but it will make the class easier if you do. Review connect homework problems, they are always a few on the test. Would recommend Mohseni over the other chem 1 instructors!
This is a difficult class no matter who you take. This was my second go around, but Mohseni seemed more concerned than my past professor. The first test was the hardest (mostly memorization) so don't get too discouraged if you don't do well. Make sure to study the homework assignments before the test I felt like a lot of the questions were rehashed
Mohseni is a really good teacher and really wants you to get an A. It is a hard class regardless of who teaches it, just do the connect problems over and over again and you should be fine for the tests.
Tests are definitely challenging, but he explains the material well. Go to class, it makes studying and learning the material so much easier. Also, make sure you know how do all of the connect problems, they are a good representation of his test.
Hes a really good guy. If you put in the work needed to learn the material, it wont be bad. He really cares about teaching and should definitely be the chemistry professor of choice. He will answer every question you and ask him and makes sure you understand why its that way. Great teacher with hard material to learn.
Mohseni is by far 1 of the best chem profs at ETSU. A lot of people say he is one of the more difficult profs to study under, I disagree. He gives you ONLY what and EVERYTHING you need to know to do well on the exams. Go to class, print his notes you will have no problem leaving here with and A. Only downfall (department wide) no extra credit.
Dr. Mohseni is a careless professor. He did not teach ONCE this semester. While he may be a good professor in person, he does not teach on line. The only grades in the class were the exams, where he does not give any extra credit or curve the exams. There are five exams, and each of them are extremely hard. The average on the final was a 60.
Had to take the class online due to the pandemic. The class was asynchronous so he did not have lectures or teach whatsoever. It was extremely difficult to teach yourself the material and the exams, mainly the final, were terrible. He might be a good professor in person, but online is awful.
Im currently taking him. If you want to actually learn dont take him online. He teaches you nothing and he lectures and when you ask him questions he just ignores you and continues his lecture. I wasnt gonna write this until after the last test. He assumed I was cheating because I made a 72 on the test with the class average being an f.
Chemistry is hard. Mohseni is a nice, caring professor. However, I feel as if I did not learn a whole lot in his class. Tests cannot be curved except for the final (which isn't in his control), so getting your grade up can be difficult.
The way he has the lab class set up is completely unfair. The tests are made for us to fail because of how difficult they are. People who make good grades in the lecture class are failing this lab exam. This is how all the labs are. Best of luck since he runs all the Chem labs!
Gen Chem 2 is a difficult class, but Chem 2 with professor Mosheni is awful. The tests are insanely difficult, the lecture notes aren't useful at all, and the math behind many problems is never explained. If you can choose, I would recommend not taking him.
Overall CHEM II was very difficult but if you study and participate in outside studying and SI, then it's not so bad. Mohseni moves a little slow through the topics, but it isn't unbearable. Just make sure you have some coffee or something and the lectures are just fine. I enjoyed his style of teaching and providing examples. Would recommend.
Very hard class, but he really does want you to succeed. Be ready to study, contact him if you need help (he's very good about responding to emails), and do your best.
I honestly could not pay attention during class. Mostly my fault because I was distracted by a major death in my family, but it seems that other people have had the same experience.
Mohseni was a great professor overall. Especially for a chemistry professor, I don't have many complaints. He was clear about the course and its contents for the most part from the start and if you used the homeworks and study guides to study you should have been fine on the exams. He's pretty friendly outside of class too.
Dr. Mohseni is one of my favorite professors at ETSU. His fill in the blank lecture guides are easy to follow and contain any information needed for the course while keeping you engaged in lecture. You can tell that he appreciates participation in class.
Great professor for a hard class. Highly recommend.
He will make sure you understand the material even if your foundations in math are weak/lacking; you just need to meet with him when he's available. I took the accelerated summer class, and it demands your full attention (no other classes, consider not working). There is a small language barrier that can hurt interpreting problems.
Its easy to not see the forest for the trees in lab, i.e. not really understand why/what you are doing in lab despite reading & completeing the prelab. Dont be afraid to speak up and ask if you're confused about anything. Dont pretend to understand it if you dont! Language barriers & incorrect lab manual instructions complicate this!
Dr. Mohseni is a great professor to take for Chemistry! He's always very clear about what will be on the exams and does plenty of practice problems in lecture to help you prepare. If you study the homework and study guides, you'll make at least a B on the exams. Make sure to pay attention and take notes!
I took gen. chemistry 1 and 2 with Dr. Mohseni. He is a great professor, I genuinely looked forward to lecture and lab! His class inspired me to be more interested in chemistry. The tests were extremely fair, never any curveballs. He even drops your lowest test score if you have good attendance. Wish I could have him again for another class!
Dr. Mohseni was a wonderful professor! As someone who has a hard time doing summer classes, he made a very difficult class easy to understand. The class is homework-heavy and test-heavy; but, the homeworks are key to passing the tests! Dr. Mohseni explains the content thoroughly and supports however he can. He is a great option for Gen. Chem!
Make sure you have a good foundation of chem 1 and calc. The math that's done in the lectures is full of steps and is completed very fast. Dr. Mohseni is always willing to help you understand the concepts and is willing to help.
