Really funny teacher. No homework but a test a week which is hard but notes are allowed and you work in groups. Final is optional. Makes the class a lot of fun.

Ray Rich is the best professor I have ever had. He is very motivating and encouraging to be sucessful in his class and in life. I only wish he taught every class.

I expected this class to be a cake walk when i took it and i wasn't wrong. The book he uses is an atrocious 'Chicken soup for the college student's soul' type tome that was painful to read. He did a good job relating his life experiences to the course material and a film a week is sort of fun.

By semester's end, those in the class had truly changed from "irresponsible kids" and "hardened critics" into motivated, hard-working team members. It was like in the movie, The Karate Kid where Daniel had no idea how Miagi's instruction of "wax on, wax off" would turn him into a champion. But it did.

Mr.Rich,is the most wonderful teacher I have ever met.I am sad after reading chapter 17,that all teachers don't have what it takes,to teach today's children.I wish we could clone him so all of the students in the world can experience his great teachings.He takes the time to explain what is going on.He shows that he cares,and he's not there for $$$

This professor changed my life and for that I am forever grateful... He teaches you more about life than he does psychology.. If you are a hard core psychology major this class might not make you happy, but if you want to learn about yourself and your life and choices than please take this class it is far worth it.

WOW! If you need to be inspired this is the teacher you want. Especailly your first year of college when things are a bit shaky taking this class will make you feel on the top of the world! EVERYONE should take a course with Ray Rich!

Ray Rich is the best professor at the CCSN Charleston campus.He is also helpful and caring.This class is extremely interesting and valuable when students read the chapters of the text and take notes.During tests the students that do not have notes and lean on their groups for answers are not very likely to succeed or learn anything from this class!

There are no class quizes to worry about, he never lectures or mentions anything about the chapter the class is on. Ray gives you meaningfull advice on life stuff not related to the class. For those of you who do not pass his class.. All I have to ask if what the hell is wrong with you? I mean really its not a hard class and he uses stories in his like to motivate and help you learn. I mean really.. I guess the world is full of those who get it and those who dont.. I am lucky that I am one of those whom actually gets it. His class has changed my life and for the better.. If you dont like him chances are cause you really dont have what it takes to make it in his class. ITS NOT HARD!

He's cool

I get excited to come to class every meeting. The professor is very helpful. It's not difficult at all. You get to take a quiz every week but with your group. You only debate your answers based on the book. He really makes sure you stay in school by showing you some educational documentary videos and study hard. i GUARANTEE .. YOU WOULDN'T REGRET!

I took him for psy and soc. He is one of the best teachers I had. You get out of this class what you put in. This is not a class full of lectures, you read the book talk about it and take a group test.

A funny guy.I always thought the chapters were boring but I read them anyway.It was long but if you take good notes, it'll help you in quizzes which is every week..it'll also help those lazy group member of yours that don't read.It was a fun/easy class and I enjoyed watching those documentary movies..esp the one on racism & abuse..TAKE HIM!!

Nutty Professor!!! He is so funny. Easy class. You take a quiz a week but you can use notes and most of the time you take it in a group of 6 people. Plenty of extra credit so you can't fail. He's crazy but the best professor I've had, he helps with everything and if you read the chapter and take notes you will get an A on the quizzes. Like others have said, he makes quirky comments to students, so if youre thin skinned, stop being a baby, this is college.

good teacher. has a lot of life experiences to share. funny and entertaining. weekly quiz with one note front and back, final exam and midterm is ONLY optional. offers extra credit therefore you should do it so you dont have to take final or midterm. highly recommended

Ray is a fantastic teacher! He gives EVERY opportunity for all students to earn an A through group tests, extra credit, etc. He makes the class very interesting with his own unique touch and experience with the subject. I would highly recommend Ray Rich as the only PSY teacher you should consider...he teaches Sociology too!

This class can change your life. No really, if you listen to what Ray says and think about it you will become a better person in just one semester. It's also an easy A if you just read the book, though if you can't do that then perhaps college isn't for you.

There is a twenty question quiz every week. The tests are in groups of about six. He doesn't take attendance, but he won't let you make-up tests. Sometimes he makes mistakes on his tests, so don't be afraid to approach him. There is no mid-term, the final is extra credit, & all essays are extra credit. He rarely lectures and puts on lots of movies.

Mr.Rich is THE BOMB! He is so hilarious. Not only he makes class interesting and fun but he teaches THE REAL LIFE helpful lessons! Weekly Quizzes each worth 20pts. Attendance is not mandatory but you'll going to like going to class even if you are lazy or something because his lecture is just phenomenal! I LOVE HIM :)

I took Ray in Spring 08. He was the most unique professor I've had. His teaching style is def. his own and it works, well! I don't know if he is still teaching. He has a great background for the subject. He demands opinions in his class,no judgment,only intentions of education. Many well deserved awards for his teaching career.If lucky, u'llget in.

When I first started the class, I thought Mr. Rich was a little obnoxious and liked to publicly belittle people. Then as time wore on I understood him a bit better and I'm upset to see class ending. He teaches things that will help you in life, instead of teaching so you can pass the test. I'll remember what I learned here, for a long, long time.

Ray Rich is one of the best. What sets him apart is that he applies what he's teaching and when you leave each class, you have psychology tools you can use to help you get further in life. I've taken classes at both UNLV and CSN and its tough to find a prof as gifted. I'm glad I found a prof who cares about both books and students as well.

One of the best prof. that CSN have. He truly have a passion for teaching and love every minute of it. I learned a lot from his class. Ray is the coolest teacher I have ever had as a college professor. The assignments were very clear and very little. He gives you multiple options to get a better grade via extra credit however he is not going to ride your ass for a grade. He treats you like an adult and as his peer/friend instead of a dictator.

Ray is a fun, active and extraordinary teacher. His methods are fun, eye-opening and encourage class participation. His approach uses videos, music, and his quirky sense of humor to get the classroom involved. Show up on time, do the reading and extra credit and you're guaranteed an A.

I took Soc. 101 from Ray Rich almost 10 years ago at CCSN and am still using the tools that he introduced to me, in my own life, daily! Thank you! A very motivating teacher, who is honest, straight forward and can change lives!

Ray made his class fun and interesting, you have to pay attention and actually be interested in his class to do well. Like most college classes, you get out of it what you put in. If you want to learn and be successful Ray gives you the tools, if you are expecting a good grade to just be given to you, you arent ready for college.

I am a teacher today because of Ray Rich. He was my teacher way back in the 80's. I love this man. I think he has no idea. I got serious about school after his class. I picked up more credits. I got my first degree, then my second all the while I was applying things he taught me in the Winner's Club. There is not a better professor on this planet.

I took Pycs. 101 and history of rock and roll from Mr. Rich in the late 80s to 90s. He let us know on day one that we would leave his class either loving him or hating him. It did not matter to him as long as we learned. I will say I hated him to the point of loving him. He was one of the best instructors I ever had. Thank You Mr. Rich, Ray/Sir.
