Dr. Wells is the BEST! Go on his Bahia de Los Angeles trip over the summer. You'll have the best time and get 3 units for it. I think about the trip every day and wish I were still there. Dr. Wells is an amazing person and teacher.

This professor is one of the best. His course is rigorous and fascinating. You'll work hard and learn alot. Like getting a graduate course in Marine Bio here at Pierce. He also cares a lot about his students.

i took dr. wells weekend course for high schoolers, so i'm not exactly sure how applicable my rating will be for his usual courses. while dr. wells had a lot of knowledge and passion for his subject, he seems easily irritable. Do not talk or even make excessive jokes or he will become cranky-ass ****!! but he is funny :)

Keep on top of your fieldnotes and u will do fine. Took his Bio 11A class-1 unit for 1 day! Will take bio 11B class & am looking forward to it. Another unit for 1 weekend!

This man is awesome. He's interesting, passionate about what he teaches and genuinely cares about how well you do. His tests aren't easy though and you have to study your ass off. But he's rather a rewarding teacher. Very worthwhile and informative.

This class is awesome! It's only two days! The first Sunday, you get lectured for maybe two hours. The next Sunday, you get to go snorkling! This is the coolest class I have ever taken. He Rocks!!!

I took both lect/lab and can say he is awesome! Sure he has some crazy anecdotes, but don't shy away from taking his class! Take his lab... You get to go on interesting field trips and the people in there are pretty cool. Enter the fascinating world of Marine Biology. Don't forget about your grade cuz you'll be having a blast in the lab!!

I took his class in order to meet the requirements and I almost changed my mayor!! Dr. Wells is a SUPERB professor who is well educated in what he teaches, loves his students and his work. Plus the stories he tells are great!! I would deff. take him over and over again! Homework and attendance is a PLUS!! And be preapre to take notes!

His field study courses are awesome! Never taken him for regular Marine Bio but he is an excellent professor.

He is remarkable when it comes to passion for the subjects he teaches as well as for his students. He is a genuine individual who truly cares about his students. He doesn't make stupid jokes but always makes everything so interesting and is intelligent enough to answer more analytical questions that students have. Take him as often as possible!

Professor Well's lab class is great for people interested in marine biology. However, for students trying simply to fulfill a GE requirement I would suggest you look elsewhere. There are numerous off campus trips that can grow costly. Overall, great teacher, great class but demands a lot of time and effort.

I love this guy to death mate. He's passionate, knowledgable, and cares deeply about his students. He supports them like a best friend/dad would. The flipside is you HAVE to take notes or else you will be lost. Tests are easy if you keep up your notes. He tends to speak fast so keep both ears open and your hands off the cell phones.

At the beginning, he made it seem like it would be the most intense class ever, but it wasn?t that bad. The trips were really interesting and fun, though time consuming. Tests nearly every week so no final at the end. Really good complement to the lecture class and I highly recommend that you take them together [121 and 122].

Very nice man, he grades on a curve. You have to spend at least 2 hours in the lab each week + there are quizzes on the lab each week worth 5 points. There are 2 midterms, 85 questions each and the final is 100 questions. We didn't use the book at all (so don't buy it), just the lab book and pre-made notes.

Oh definitely take him! I love this guy! I've taken many classes over the years, and I'm in grad school now and I always think about how great he was, and if only there were more like him. He'll leave a great impression on you and you'll never forget him!

Wells is the man. You learn a lot of useful information and apply it to 3 tests (20%), current events (one/week), and a Cabrillo Aq FT. I am an ocean freak so I thoroughly enjoyed this class. He is directly in the field and subtly intimidating. He's got the Marine Bio world and Professor look on lock. Great guy, poss 'A' if you put in good effort.

Excellent biology teacher. Dr.Wells really knows his stuff and helps all of his students. Just do the work and you'll be more than fine. at least 2 hours of lab is required each week( They're actually fun and interesting). I just wish I didn't jam my schedule so I could have focused more and gotten a higher grade than a C. Overall, GREAT Teacher!

Teacher gives you an outline to use for the semester. YOU NEED TO thoroughly fill in the notes in order to understand the entire concepts. The lab helps you understand. I never opened my book once. If you don?t understand topics you can go to his office hours. His tests are by the lectures, and quizzes are based on the labs. Just study u?ll be fine

Class is pretty easy. 2 tests, some homework, and a non-cumulative final. Tests are kind of hard, but if you do the small amount of HW, you'll get 15 points added to your test grade (usually 105/120 is an A depending on curve) so getting an A in the class is pretty easy. Good professor but class can get boring. $14 outline required but not textbook

Professor Wells is one of the rare community college professors who's caliber of teaching is inspiring. He takes his subject extremely seriously, but that's not to say he does not have a great sense of humor. I learned a lot in his class, and an A is doable if you put enough effort in as he is an extremely fair grader.

The amount of information is a bit overwhelming, but overall the class is amazing! Listen to him when he tells you not worry about grades. Best class I've ever taken. Takes pride in his craft. One of the best teachers I've had. Knows the subject and how to teach it. Lectures are often funny, interesting, and insightful. Offers lots of extra points and a curve to help with your grade. A rare honors class in which you don't have to worry about a paper or your grade and can just show up, listen, and learn.

Doc is an all around Renaissance man. You go in there expecting to learn marine biology and learn much more than the inside of a fish. He is very thorough in his lectures and his study guides directly correlate to the tests. The class is information dense, but if you take a little time to study, (and do extra credit) you will be just fine! :)

He gives a ton of information, but when he tells you not to worry about the grade and just learn, he really does mean it. The lectures are the part of the class worth going to, which is abnormal at community college -- the book covers maybe a third of what he does, and his information is by far more interesting and useful in life.

Whether or not you're interested in marine biology, take this course. Doc is a man of so many talents and you'll frequently find yourself laughing as much as learning in his class. I can safely say that this has been my favorite class so far.

Although I'm not a science major, this was one of my favorite classes. There's a lot of information to familiarize yourself with, but it's all relevant and interesting. The lectures are fun and engaging, definitely a class to look forward to. I finished this class not only knowing more about marine biology, but more about the world.

I love Professor Wells! I recommend anyone who needs a lab to take one of his...only if you are interested or at least willing to get interested and do the work. He's hilarious and a renowned marine biologist with loads of connections. We have trips to Royal Palms beach, newport beach, and other places. He is awesome but you must do your work.

Took the summer class which was a 2week trip 2Bahia de Los Angeles, BC,Mex. This was the best expierence & the BEST decision I have made. I didn't know a thing about Marine Bio b4 this trip & I walked away with so much. This is a class & lab. Dr. Wells is an amazing professor. Professor Wells is the best! Very informative! His Marine Biology class is amazing! You get to go to Baja Mexico and stay in a great hotel, have alot of fun, see a wide variety of marine life and its affordable! Snorkeling at Catalina Island is also a once in a lifetime experience! I would do it all again just for the experience!

Professor Wells is by far my all time favorite professor! He genuinely cares about his students. If you do bad on a test, he gives you opportunities to make it up. But you have to pay attention. His lectures are pretty complex and pretty complicated. DON'T BE LATE! He hates late students. Lab was really fun! You really get to know him! TAKE HIM!

He loves his job and he gives you a lot of chances to get a good grade including extra credit and very good study guides. You will learn a lot if you take his field class and not just about biology.

Dr. Wells' passions for marine biology, the environment and his students are truly inspiring. He has a flair for teaching and I feel that I have gotten a lot out of this course, which highlights the dazzling creativity and beauty present in marine organisms. He really loves what he's teaching ,he has lecture notes BUY THEM they are so helpful . As for test the study guides they are god sent. Take the lab its amazing its hands on learning and makes the lecture super easy. He also has these weekend classes that are life changing whether you're a bio major or not.

Best professor I've ever had. Loves what he does and he does it well. I highly recommend taking both 121 & 122 (lab) for the full marine biology experience. Three "midterms" throughout the semester, very easy if you follow his study guides and pay attention/take notes in lecture. Mostly multiple choice but you are given 4 essay prompts & do 3.

This is one of three field-work classes that you should definitely take with him if you are even remotely interested in ocean ecology. In this class you snorkel and study the kelp forests off of Catalina island. It is amazing and breathtaking to have a living classroom to study in. Read and study the materials carefully for a better experience!!!

With over 200 units of college credit, Dr. Wells is and has always been the best, most inspriational teacher. Anyone who has an interest in marine biology and even anyone who doesn't. You will not be disappointed in taking any of his classes. A true class act.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a professor as much as Dr. Wells. The man is an expert in marine biology and has an amazing body of knowledge he's always willing to share. Lecture's tough, lot of note-taking and studying, but worth it. Be sure to take the lab! The field sites are AMAZING. Tough course, great professor, cool studies, would retake.

If there's one professor who has esteem knowledge and passion in his work it's Dr. Raymond Wells. Bio 121 and 122 are the most in depth lectures in the fields of Marine Biology and his field work classes relate to his lectures. Every class is memorable and intellect is acquired. Can't thank him enough. Remember it's a science class, take him!

I would also highly suggest taking Bio122 which reinforces topics from Bio121, plus Bio122 involves a lot of field trips and 2 research cruises throughout the semester. This professor is an absolute gem. He applies his lectures to life events going on right now to help students get a better understanding. He does lecture a lot but is really engaging. Nevertheless he's so knowledgeable and passionate in what he does so he actually cares.

Loved Bio 11A , he is doing one last trip and i would recommend everyone to go to it, even if they arent interested in marine life. It really opened my eyes to the marine life in Catalina Island and I came out of that trip learning so much new stuff.

With COVID-19 he was extremely helpful and could still learn a lot from an online prospective.
