This class ruined my GPA :( You have only 3 exams in this class, 2 of them optional. Even if you take all 3, these 30-tricky-question-tests are very likely to get you a much lower grade than you would if there were less emphasis on the exams. Great professor! He was never boring, always had jokes. His tests are right from his lectures. If you pay attention you'll do fine on the tests. Definitely recommend.

I had Dr. Bailey for HIS 121 in the auditorium. Most understanding, funny, caring and amazing professor you'll ever have. His lectures consist of him talking, as long as you take good notes and do the BB assignments then you'll pass w/ an easy A, no doubt. I'm not interested in HIS but he made it interesting. Don't wait, TAKE HIM!

By far the bet professor I've ever encountered. This man knows his stuff well and recites his lectures like stories. He uses Black Board heavily, and provides a comprehensive note-taking style that I use in my other classes as well. He is VERY responsive to his students and cares about them.

He gives good lectures but doesnt have power points to go with it. Also doesnt give review sheets. But if you just listen and take notes throughout class youll do fine on the exams! Theres no quizzes or papers either! But there are regular small blackboards reading assignments. There are 3 Exams multiple choic and thats it So do well on them!

Dr. Bailey was one of my favorite professors this semester! He is lecture heavy and only talks off an outline (no powerpoints/handouts). As long as you listen and take good notes, you will pass! The ONLY grades are 3 exams, but if you're close to the next letter grade, he'll make your final exam grade count for more towards the final to bump it up

Tests? Not many

Dr. Bailey is the best professor I've ever experienced. He lectures every class, but he makes them relevant and funny. You get graded by 3 exams only, so show up to take good notes and you'll pass. This guy knows his stuff. You're missing out if you don't take his class.

While he does mostly lecture they are good lectures. He keeps you involved and he will say he calls on people awkwardly because he does but it does keep you focused. He shows a clear understanding and passion for history which to me makes his classes enjoyable. Just take notes and you'll be good to go.

One of the best professors I've had! He mainly lectures, along with some short online readings, but he keeps class interesting and relevant. His passion for history makes what we're learning feel important and makes class enjoyable. His tests are not very hard if you listen and take notes in class.

Best history prof. in NOVA!!! Didn't take HIS121 and didn't know anything about the subject but he makes it so easy to understand. His exam questions are straight from his lectures so as long as you take good notes** and read blackboard assignments** you'll pass easy. He will tell you exactly what will be on his exams! Lectures are fun, not boring.

I took 121&122 with him over the fall. Simply a great lecturer! He gave 3 exams over the semester, all multiple-choice questions and I believe 2 of them had optional essays, but he'll count your essay as part of the grade and not as extra credit so I never done them. If you attend regularly and skim through the Blackboard assignments you'll be fine

He was amazing! He made history fun and entertaining, something not many people can do. He always has funny stories and jokes. Three tests in total, and those are the only grades. If you're looking for a homework cushion I do not recommend Dr. Bailey, but that is the only reason I would tell someone not to take his class.

Dr. Bailey is the best DR there is. He is a top of the line type of man and teaches with passion. He only grades you on 3 test and one assignment. He takes attendance up until the drop date then if you show up after and he takes attendance its for extra points. 45% of his tests are topics of blackboard assignments he gives throughout the semester.

Class was pretty easy: tests are pretty simple and most of the content should be review from high school history classes. With that said, if youre actually trying to learn U.S. history at a college level, youd be better off going to your local library. His lectures left me disappointed, as they were mostly watered down establishment propaganda
