Excellent Teacher. USes great examples you will remember when it comes to test time. He makes a 2 hour class go by so quickly. I don't consider this class so much of a class, it's more of a show! Great classes and he's lots of fun! Really puts in the effort to know his students.
extremely helpful and thorough. there is no reason why anyone should fail marketing with ray
He is an awesome teacher. Funny, confident, and smart.
Good guy but freaks out when you use your phone or laptop
Great Teacher Over All. For Sure Not A Class That Is Easy To Fail. Ray Can Come Off As A Little...Well Weird But He Knows What He Is Talking About And Is A Great Reference To Have.
Extremely entertaining. Engaging classes and great advice.
Examples stick in your head. Helps you immensely with the exams. He is an instructor who cares about his students and is willing to give advice and help with career aspirations. He really pushes his students to do well. Great teacher.
Great teacher as long as you treat him with respect. Good reference and really knows his stuff. Good at making class fun
very nice and helpful Professor
Great instructor that is easy to understand and fun to listen to. Know's his stuff and will make sure you know yours, but really just wants you to learn.
First off, Raymond is a great person; enjoyable, comical and devoted to his students. Also, he makes it easy for you to learn the content through periodic quizzes. HOWEVER, considering the material is fairly easy to comprehend (a lot of it, but easy), he marks quite hard. Considering my effort, my mark should have been higher. I hope he sees this.
As long as you're respectful of him, he's respectful of you. Knob off in class and he'll treat you the same way. Have had him a few times and he's been great each time. Good at taking student feedback as well and a great, valuable connection to make for marketing
Classes go by fast!
Very good at discussing lessons and provides real life examples.
Wow! Fantastic instructor who lives what he teaches. Very helpful and knows the material very well. Do your assignments as directed and he will grade you accordingly. This class changed the way I interact with social media all because or Mr. Raymond. Still remains one of the greatest instructors
Marketing was a good class, Ray made it clear that it was up to you how much time and effort you wanted to put in. His lectures were always interesting, relevant and he always incorporated current events. There isn't really any class work and he is very helpful with the group project if needed. Good teacher, good class.
MARK1130 EASY. Study off of the glossary or powerpoints. Why read the textbook? Because of participation. However, you do not need to read the textbook in order to get an A. Tough grader group project should have a lot of effort (good group members). You learn better when he goes through powerpoints than talking about questions in the chapters
Ray is a great teacher that goes above and beyond for his students!
Great prof! Answers any questions. If you read the textbook and understand the concepts by studying you will do fine!
easy grader, very clear, if you have a little bit of common sense and put a little bit of effort into memorizing some definitions you will get an A in his class
AMAZING
Ray was awesome, he expects you to read the chapters (DUH) but he has lots of examples and loves to answer questions. He's engaging, very funny and charismatic and isn't afraid to poke fun at himself. Loved his class - would take again! I'd say he's the best teacher I've had so far at NAIT. Easy A!
There's no possible way you can be bored in his class, if you find him useless, you should really get yourself checked. This guy is amazing as a professor.
Ray has great lecturers and keeps the class involved, he is very approachable and helpful. might show up late because of the starbucks line but makes up for it with a few jokes. easy class, mostly definitions, if you show up you'll do fine.
Best professor you will ever have. You can never fail his class. Cares about every student. hes funny and you'll never find his class boring.
Probably one of the best profs i have had. He is funny and hilarious in or outside class. You will not be disappointed as he is always ready to help you out even if its on his own time. Raymond you the MANN!!
Rays classes are super fun! He keeps everyone engaged in the class and makes funny comments to lighten the mood. He cancels Friday classes and gives enough time before class so you don't show up for nothing. You do have to read the chapters for the quizzes, but it's open book with three attempts.
Amazing prof. Ignore all the negative comments. As long as you attend his classes, listen, and read the text book. You will do good. Personally, I never thought I would be able to make it to his class (started at 7 A.M) but b/c his classes are fun and engaging I actually woke up excited to attend his class. KEEP IT UP RAY D
I loved having Ray as my first marketing prof. Really makes the material interesting and teaches what's not just on the curriculum. If you want to hear some real stories and learn tools for the real marketing world I would highly recommend Ray. Just like every class in post secondary, to learn what's on the test read the chapters.
Ray is an awesome teacher and person. Ask him for feedback, show up to class at least every once in a while and read the chapters, it's an easy A. Plus you'll learn actually relevant stuff. I had a morning lecture with him and I ended up going every class because he's hilarious and engaging. RECOMMEND TIMES TEN! DO IT!
Ray is honestly a real gem. If you get him for Marketing, get ready for a fun semester
So basically this dude is ight, just show up to class and do your work and you'll be ight. his classes are ight. group projects are ight. his marking is ight and finals are ight. all in all his an ight prof.
Super nice and funny. He's very knowledgable and gives good examples. He's the kind of instructor that never makes you feel stupid. He makes sure you understand the work before moving on. He likes for you to participate in discussions but doesn't call on you and embarrass you if you choose not to. It also helps that he's easy on the eyes.
Ray is kind of the best. He's funny and explains all the topics easily. He sometimes gets off topic but thats OK. The only suggestion I have for him is to get a new blazer.
Ray is a great prof, come to class and be engaged in his lectures and you will learn the concepts of the course without reading the book. Yes he gets off topic but overall if you come to class you will learn all you need to know. He is approachable and always gives great feedback. If you talk in class or come in late/skip a lot, you wont get along.
Ray is a good instructor but when it came to the group project he leaves you on your own. I would have preferred if he had the group members evaluate each other. He seemed to kind of slacked off after the mid term in regards to teaching. It was more so read the material and come to class with questions than actual teaching
Ray gets off topic sometimes but he knows it and is able to admit it. He is a fantastic prof. Explains concepts very well and makes sure any questions are answered. Very personable, funny guy, would strongly recommend taking his class.
Ray is a really good professor, he's made class easy and interesting. He knows his stuff and has a great personality,. He's not a tough grader, if you come to class you will pass. i definitely would take again.
One of my favourite instructor this semester. He gave good feedback on my blogs which helped me improved them week after week. Respond to email questions really quick and interact with his students online via Twitter which is kinda cool!
very good instructor
Its a NO from me
Best instructor for professional selling. Attendance is mandatory if you want to do good. This is a fast moving class so be prepared for the assignments in this class. Only negative thing I found about Ray was that he doesnt reply to your emails. So if you have any questions, see him after class.
You'll be doing lots of reading in this class and the assignments are super heavy. You're graded by a few things and even though he gives a lot of feedback that comes back late. Like a month after the assignment has been handed in so you cant improve on the next one.
Now that I took his class I would probably take it again but hesitantly. He is rough around the edges and your work is graded by a few factors so if you're used to getting 90s and above don't expect it here. There's little wiggle room to debate your marks or have extensions due to personal issues. Don't miss class, you'll regret it
So difficult! I would avoid. Get ready to do a lot of reading and keep in mind his grading criteria isnt clear. He will only tell you whats wrong when its too late
This class was such a nightmare. I would never take this prof again. He isn't accessible outside of class and there is much course work considering that this was an elective, you will spend hours working on one assignment. He ignores emails and spends his time on Twitter as shown by his feed. He gives good feedback but that's all. I would avoid him
This guy is not a great instructor. He comes to class like he hates his job.
He marks pretty hard, halfway through the semester I ended up dropping his course, it wasn't even worth it to continue. I couldn't get a hold of him outside of class and he spent so much time complaining about how busy he was. How is that my problem you overloaded yourself?
The course content is easy, he is not. Avoid
Don't buy the book for this class, you wont need it. Also hes a really tough grader, like my GPA has maintained about 3.5 for the first 3 years and it dropped dramatically in his class. He isn't accessible outside of class and I would avoid referring to him in any way possible.
NO NO NO NO. do not take this class. drop out and save yourself
this class was so difficult and he marks extremely hard. I wouldn't take his class again. Cant get a hold of this guy outside of class either. If you require an instructor who is helpful and replies to emails, this is not your guy.
I have had Ray for a couple classes. He is a tough but fair grader. You need to do the work in order to pass, there in no easy ride in any of his classes. He is not very helpful outside class but does reply to email fairly quickly. This course is very work intensive. Above average writing and english skills are a must.
I personally didn't need the text book for this class but I wouldn't go against getting it. Classes were cut short after exams and he came around only to answer questions. Assignment requirements were vague.
hes a hard marker and he complains mostly about how he has 6 other classes to mark. so don't expect any heart to hearts or compassion from him.
Really tough grader. I tried emailing this teacher to get in touch with him and he ignored my email. Yet he had the time to tweet and update his social media. Considering this is a social media class there is a lot of emphasis on spelling and grammar. If this isn't your strong suit avoid him as an instructor.
Difficult to work with this instructor. Not nice. Not easy to get a hold of. Not sure why you're an instructor at nait. Pension? Take another teacher if you can. You wont here back from him until two months later
Zero help from this guy. He sends out long emails weekly with his expectations from you which is about the only helpful thing. All in all though improvement emails for blogs come after 2 months so you don't have time to improve. Lazy, Rude and lots of rumors about his disrespect towards students which I found to be legit. Seen it in person.
I enjoyed having Ray as an instructor. I had him for MARK1130 & MARK4474. In MARK4474, it was heavy with work. It wasnt difficult material but required a lot of time to do assignments. Id suggest to have strong English & writing skills for that class, which is understandable considering youre communicating to consumers on social media.
I hated having Ray as an instructor. In MARK4474, it was heavy with work. It was difficult material & required a lot of time to do assignments. Id suggest to have strong English & writing skills for that class, English is not my first language. I failed miserably
Do you want to fail? Do you want your GPA to drop magnificently? If you've answered yes to either of these, please choose this instructor. He is one of the worst instructors you can take, and his class is 100% opinion based... HIS opinion that is. Don't try and voice yours because it'll be wrong. Switch out this class as soon as you see his name.
Expects good grammar and wording. (Very picky)Ex: Reads the first page of a paper and automatically marks it a F.
THE WORST.
This is the hardest things ive ever done. He gives you a lot of feedback but thats weeks after youve finished the first assignment so you cant even improve inbetween. Every assignment is like an english proficiency test, thats all he will mark you on. Not on content. He isnt caring and is difficult to get a hold of. NAIT really messed up with him
I don't know why he gets a very slow score, BUT from my perspective, he is a wonderful instructor. The class was fun and everything would be very easy. Also, our group gets a high score in the project.
Ray was great. This class is super easy. You need about 5 hours a week to dedicate to writing blogs and tweeting. Super simple. Ray is also not a hard grader.
This was the most difficult class I have ever taken at NAIT. Thank god this semester is over. This was a GPA killer, he isnt accessible outside of class either
His expectations are very clear during the course. Easy to do good if you show up and take down the discussion notes before the midterm, and follow instructions for group projects and presentations. Gave a really good study guide too, so the final was a breeze. Enjoyed the class!
Really pay attention to detail. Its all about reading in between the lines in regards to what he wants
Ehh not the best.
Not accessible outside of class which is a well known fact. He gives really good feedback in regards to assignments but that does not come until months later. He is rude and condescending. Often seen talking down to students. Is known for his lack of respect. If English is not your first language you will be butchered on your assignments.
This teacher has no compassion and will belittle you if you ask a question that he thinks is a "dumb question". He doesn't understand math since he decided to drop the lowest quizzes and that should make your grade go up but, somehow my grade dropped 4%. He couldn't give me an answer how this happened and wouldn't round my 79.5% to an 80%.
THE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. Day one we got a girl crying in the corner, second week 10 people have dropped his class
Even when I put my assignments through grammarly he would still dock me tons of marks. Rude and obnoxious
Raymond is a tough grade, its difficult to get a hold of him outside of class and his grading criteria is not clear. I thought taking this online course would be easier but it isn't. I send him emails asking for updates and he doesn't respond for weeks, but he has time to update his twitter feed. This class is a GPA killer.
Difficult to reach. Almost impossible to talk to. Avoid taking him as a prof. It is not worth it
I would strongly avoid
They changed this course so they mark it based on grammar skills. English is not my first language and I struggled. It doesnt matter how much you write about social media marketing he wont care. He only cares about punctuation, spelling mistakes and any English errors. I would say this class is similar to critical reading and writing, super hard.
Not an easy instructor to get a hold of. The class itself was easy but homework was flying out of every direction. I emailed him a couple of times without hearing anything back. Personal opinion but I wouldnt take again
Let me put it like this, aside from the very rare "Google app" he will show you the class is a straight-up waste of time. Most of the conversations with the class are about hockey, which I don't give a rats ass about. The assignments range from hard to piss easy, it really depends on who grades your paper in the class.
SUCKS that students grade each other. He did step in & removed a ridiculously low mark given to me by 1 student for 0 reason. Initial instructions did not match what was actually wanted by him, but otherwise, I found him to be accessible and nice. This class just isn't the best; he's fine. (I'd still take this class for an elective, though. Easy.)
Don't listen to half the people writing comments here. Ray is one of the best prof's at NAIT. It's simple, show up to class and participate! If you're not in class don't expect to know what you're supposed to be doing. If you get offended easily by any feedback Ray isn't for you.
If you miss class once, youre practically on his bad list. He doesnt respond to emails , his feedback is harsh too. Very condescending when he speaks to you
I had great experience taking MARK2271 with Ray. Unlike most of the instructors at Nait he does not rely on PPT slides at all, which rather makes an engaging environment in class. Attendance is required and Do Not be fool and use your phone in class because "He doesn't like that". He's absolutely caring and accommodating for students.
Ray was tremendous. Professional in every sense of the word. Courteous, continuously kept everyone updated, and responded to e-mails very quickly. Any negative comments about Ray are probably unfounded and by those unwilling to do any work. Wish I had the opportunity to learn his insights in person. Highly recommended.
Its the unanswered emails for a whole month for me
Unprofessional in every sense of the word. continuously kept everyone guessing , and lack a respect for students
Not helpful, would never be in the same room with him again if my life depended on it.
Worst marketing instructor ever at NAIT. Does not give timely feedback. Picks at you when you don't show up to his class. Also, his pointless peer grading system is pure BS. Even if you give your best, he won't recognize you for it. Avoid whenever possible.
All course materials are from Coursera or google. Mark your peers assignments which means the blind are leading the blind. Rarely answers an email inside of a week. Based on my websites stats, he spent less than 5 minutes checking over my website in the entire semester. First time I actually had to report a prof to the school for being so bad.
This is the second course I have taken with Ray and I think he is amazing! As long as you show up and actually put in the work he will be great. He is fun and definitely know his stuff. I'd take a class any time with him.
Don't take marketing if you are a research paper writer. This class is about creativity and marketing digital content, like blogs, and social media. Do take this class if you want to gain real skills for handling internet content creation.
I took his self-directed class and he was sort of terrible at responding to emails and explaining instructions. I have no doubt that he is great in actual lectures though. He puts a lot of trust in his students and we really excelled on our group project because he connected us with real clients. Learned a lot!
I would avoid Ray at all costs. I took MARK3372 as an elective and it was without a doubt the heaviest course of my semester. Ray does not reply to emails, doesn't give clear expectations, and is easily triggered by follow-up questions. His class is a worst-case scenario if you are trying to get something useful out of your education.
Ray is really bad, worse than Artem to put it into context. He does not respond to e-mails. I've sent him multiple e-mails and he has an auto response saying he is too busy to respond. The peer grading system is a joke, I currently have a 4.0 and it is single-handedly dropping my GPA. I am on the verge of having to drop this class.
Ray is the worst prof Ive had in my 4 years here at NAIT. Will not answer emails, rude to students and shames us for asking for clarification. There is even a Twitter account asking NAIT to specifically fire Ray. Clearly he does not care and makes easy money doing nothing!
Single-handedly the worst instructor I have had throughout my degree. Extremely unclear instructions on projects to be completed and by when. There are so many assignments to do and feedback from him is nonexistent. Majority of class was marked by other students and 3 months later, still don't have ANY feedback from Ray. AVOID this guy.
Ray has been the worst prof I have had during COVID. He doesn't answer emails, has you grade other students' papers so that he literally does no work. Nothing I saw in class gives me any indication that he's competent at marketing at all. His pathetic YouTube channel had like 100 subscribers (he begged us to subscribe). Just brutal.
Social Media Marketing: Lots of writing, but, it's not hard. Clear outlines for what is expected but is a creative class encouraging personal voice etc. so if you need profs to spell things out for you, you won't like this class. Peers marking your work is similar to real-world SMM. Ray DOES look over and change grades if necessary. Loved the class
Does not respond to emails and his instructions are so unclear. Was extremely frustrated while doing some of his projects because I did not understand what was expected of us and neither did my group members. But he is a funny and caring guy
How is he actually a teacher? He doesn't really seem to know marketing, his lessons are all from Google. I'd rather buy a textbook and read it myself than take his class. He seems out of touch, isn't a good teacher, and ignores emails for a week if he answers them at all.
I was just hoping to get so much more out of this class. He barely taught during lectures, as it was 70% breakout rooms and since there was no textbook, our learning was very limited. Our grade was made up of about 6-7 assignments total and 5 of those were peer-graded. In a 2h class, you were lucky to come away with one good piece of information.
Save your money, time and GPA and avoid taking social media marketing if Raymond is your instructor. Most unprofessional teacher I've ever had. Shows zero care for his students and puts little to no effort in his course content. Did not reply to any of my emails even though they were created within his "guidelines" of how to properly email him.
A man with a big ego. Choose any other teacher for this course. He seems great at first but his ego takes over the class
Has time to post on twitter but not to respond to student emails???? Gives harsh and useless feedback. Avoid.
He doesn't follow the rubrics posted on Moodle. He will give feedback that are unrelated from the criteria for grading. Has little understanding on the simulation game. Often discusses AI, with only 10% emphasis on class discussion. While cool and fun, relying on him for exams may lead to failure. Not recommended for those seeking quality learning.
Won't release final exam marks nor reply to emails sent but finds time to post on twitter and linkedin? It is so clear he doesn't care in the slightest about his job. New semester starts in a few days and I have yet to receive my final grade for his class. So sad that this is the amount of effort put into your job. Shame on you Raymond.
Ray will go above and beyond with helping students before, during and after class. Ray is knowledgeable and up to date with current Software and Tools that can be used to help any student with all projects. Ray's class at NAIT was very memorable, and I would recommend his class to all.
Amazing. Do your work and you do great. He was amazing
He does not teach at all all he did was go elsewhere and watch the lectures. He does not provide any textbooks that are beneficial for learning. Marks carelessly for assignments never pays attention to what things were correctly done, and marks them falsely. And he does not accept questions regarding how he marks. So, do not take his class EVER?
He doesn't reply to emails. Does not really teach and I'm wondering why students rate him as awesome when $$$ for tuition paid for a course taught by him should have been a freebie. He just relies on linkedin learning which you could get for less than enrolling. A total waste of time and money avoid his class! Worst class ever
Ray is a very knowledgeable instructor. But the exams are very textbook heavy and he doesn't cover a lot in class. Do the assignments based on the rubric and read the textbook, you'll do fine. Ray is interested in new technology and Marketing as a whole. Ask him about real world stuff that'll help you in your future career. That's the real pay off.
The professor heavily relies on online resources like LinkedIn Learning, which you could access for less. Avoid this class - it's a waste of time and money. However, unstuck study proved helpful for studying and prep.
I have a lot to say but I will just keep it simple avoid him. Except you just want teach yourself! I wonder what he is doing as an instructor!! Doesn't teach, doesn't provide feedback early until end of term. A complete waste of tuition
If you are thinking about taking Rays class, DONT. It almost seems like his main goal is to shut students down, rather than fostering an environment for growth. he often tells his students to F*** off and uses inappropriate language. he doesn't reply to emails - yet spent an entire class going over how to email him. Take this class with Teagen.
Locks the door to the classroom the moment he enters and wants you to be there before class begins. That would be okay if he himself wasn't always late. Hasn't replied to a single one of my emails ever, even after talking after class about the issue.
he told me to kms
Worst professor of all time without a doubt in my mind
Raymond likes to say his classes are rated "R" for Raymond. He frequently uses explicit language. On top of that, if he's in a bad mood, he takes it out on people and will stop class, disrespect others, and call them out in front of the entire class.
Doesn't reply to emails, this instructor does not care about you, he is getting his pay cheque by roasting students and using derogatory language in class, no wonder why he doesn't record lectures. I would fire him in an instant if I were the chair.
I am sorry Raymond, but you are not a good instructor at all, the way you teach and ignore student emails is complete and utter BS to me, open your eyes and look in the mirror, if you want your class to improve and especially your student to excel in what you teach, listen to yourself speak and self reflect on whether you are a good instructor.
He has "Education Innovator" in his LinkedIn bio, but uses ChatGPT to create assignments. Besides just copying and pasting assignments, he didn't share a single video, PowerPoint or any material for MARK3471, even with an asynchronous class, you still need to EDUCATE UR STUDENTS. Complete waste of my money. And stop leaving ur students on read.
Just show up to class he gives you a clear way to get a good grade just show up and be awesome and answer questions. Sometimes it fells like he is going to hard on students but most the time he is funny and its really easy to do well in his class.
Just attend his classes and pay attention. Actually engage with tricky questions you have about marketing with him- he's extremely insightful on advanced topics and the mechanics of marketing. And then just keep up with the outside of class work you're assigned. The low ratings here, I assure you, are because he's tough on the lazy.
worst teacher eva. Very negative cynical guy.
