He is willing to help you and very nice. Generous grade, the coolest prof. ever!
I took him for both 211 and 112. Attend class and take good notes because you will see almost the same exercises on the tests. I used the book, but other student didn't. You can get an A with Cook if you study.
Very patient and helpful professor. Cares about the student learning the material. Goes over the practical applications of the material. Injects as much humor as one could imagine in an accounting class. Cut's no slack. Sets a high standard.
a really nice approachable teacher.
He is an incredible professor. He makes everything so easy to understand.
he is very helpful.
This professor is the best. very helpfull, tells you what to expect. makes the subject easy.. very generous when it comes to grading..I highly recomend him
He's a great teacher and a very nice guy. Make sure you study your notes and do the homework, even though it's not required and you'll do well on the tests. He's very approachable if you need help. Attendance is not required, but there are quizzes and extra credit opportunities sometimes, so try not to miss too many classes.
great teacher...he's funny, too. not an easy bs class, but not hard either
one of the best professor, very nice and helpful.easy class.
Excellent at explaining a tough subject. Test's are all based on the notes and specific areas he tells you about in advance. No surprises come test day. The subject is tough so you need to do the homework (although not graded) and attend class. Excellent professor, I highly recommend him.
What a great Teacher I'll take his class again
One of the best teachers at NOVA, explains everything crystal clear, and has no problem answering question until you understand. i took him for 211 and 212 and have had not one problem! He is great! Take him!
awsome professor..very helpful
EXCELLENT teacher to say the least. Makes everything seem so easy. I'm amazed that he can explain everything to the point that the information sticks right away the first time around. I can say with absolute confidence that I have mastered the subject, through and through, thanks to Professor Cook. Without question one of the top professors at NOVA
I took him for ACC 211 and 212. I highly recommend Professor Cook. He's very helpful and clear, and makes class interesting.
I took him for 211,212 and advanced, I highly recommend him.
He is the best Prof.in NOVA. Very patient and extremely professor who cares about his students!I toll 211 and 212 with him and got A for bothe classes.Highly recommended professor !
I am one who rated earlier and found some mistakes. So here I am again to rate this professor. He is the best prof. in NOVA.Very patient & extremely helpful professor who cares about his students! I took 211 and 212 and I got "A" for both classes. Highly recommended professor!!
Pretty good teacher. Just sometimes gets in the way when he has you copy stuff from the overhead! lol. Other than that, he is cool. Very helpful and always replies to emails.
He's a nice guy & pretty helpful. His way of explaining the materials are clear! You get no homework at all; BUT if you wanna pass his 2 of his 3 exams, you need to do some practices yourself! And the final exam is difficult. Good luck!
He is the best professor ever! He explains material clearly and make sure if every student understands him. There are 3 tests and one final. You can drop the lowest score out of 3 tests but you cant drop the final. I'm taking his class for this semester again. So excited!
The best teacher!!! he explains very clear. everything that he explains during class are going to be on the exam. the exams are easy. I would totally recommend.
He's my most favorite teacher :) I love accounting because of him. It's made to seem easy because of him and I look forward to the class all the time. Strange and creepy I know. But he's awesome. He may seem serious, but when he smiles, it's so gorgeous. lol. He's always fair and square, and really patient. Take him. Your time will be spent well.
He is very helpful and the test are easy if you came prepared. He seems to try and get you to study way more then what's on the test itself. In general his class is good because I did learn the material and he taught it pretty clear and easy to understand.
He gives 3 tests, drops the lowest one and the Final is comprehensive. I bought a textbook but didn't use it much. Just come to class and pay attention. The tests are much like the study guide and CW. If you need help he has great office hours. He is very clear goes step by step but it does go fast towards the end so make sure you don't fall behind
Accounting 211 was great for me and also my twin brother..lol I say that because of Professor Cook. He taught the material so that every student would understand. He moves at a pace where each and every student will not feel lost or confused. His has three tests and a final exam. The lowest test will be drop. Overall, he is a great professor!!!
Accouting 211 was a great experience. I say that because of Professor Cook. He taught the material at a pace so that each and every student will feel comfortable and not confused. My brother and I both took the class and enjoyed it alot. He gives three tests and a final exam. The lowest grade on the tests is drop. Overall, he's the best!!!!
He's an excellent professor. His tests are straight from the work we do in class. 3 tests, drops 1. Final is comprehensive but it's easy. Some students failed the test but they CLEARLY didn't put any effort. Very clear & helpful. Explains everything step by step in the beginning. Took him for ACC 211 & 212. Passed both with an A. Highly recommended
This hybrid 212 class is a lot harder because he assigns a few homework problems and the course consists only 1 final exam that is cumulative. Trust me, the final is NOT hard. He seems to over-prepare you but the actual final consists of easier, similar review questions. Plus 1 project- piece of cake. His teaching method is easy to understand!
Very clear and helpful professor!
Very good teacher tries to explain things as best he can. It was an easy subject for me if you have interest in accounting should also be easy. He uses textbook for group activities.
Raymond is a very fair and nice professor. His lectures are quite boring and he rarely smiles. His ALWAYS SO SERIOUS!!! Doesn't really get jokes told by students. NEVER tells you if the group assignments problems are correct when he stand behind you. Sometimes he ignores your questions. fun fact; wears expansive pants!! " banana republic"! lol
Great teacher. Point blank period.
Best accounting teacher at any NOVA campus. He's very direct and to the point. Teaches everything class old school way and is very well organized with lectures. Does an amazing job preparing and teaching. I didn't even study for the final and got a 89 on it. Project is also easy and he helps if you're stuck.
The teacher is awesome. I did not like accounting at all. My first accounting was very bad.Due to this professor I start liking accounting. He goes through handouts and group assignments in class. Homework is not mandatory. If you do handouts you will be good at the exams. You have to do a project which is online and you have to buy it, not diffic
best accounting teacher ever.very nice. the class is very organized and easy.you will never regret it.
its so quick class......... he goes too fast hard to understand
This professor is just my speed. The responsiblity is on you to have the chapter read/studied before class. If you come prepared, the lectures are very straight forward and all problems he assigns online (not mandatory) will prepare you for the test. To get the most out of his class, come prepared to ask/answer questions.
He is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice guy, a bit awkward at times but is clear with his explanations. Is very focused and organized. Doesn't go too fast or too slow with the lecture. Is available for extra assistance as needed. There is no reason why one cannot get at least a B in this class. I have a high A. Great teaching style. Direct. Never goes off topic. Great class.
Had him this fall, his lecture was supppper clear that I felt I understood everything, but when the tests came I knew I didnt do well as I think I am. he gave out 5 free extra points at the end if we did the evaluation, and 5 ep from a question we did in class. No homework grading so dont need to do. Anyways take him!!!!!!
Professor Cook is the right man for the job. Cristal clear English pronunciation (very rare in the math department here at nova) and excellent teaching style. He will answer every question and if the class is not asking on hard topics, he will go the extra mile and make up more examples. I appreciated that a lot. . Always there, always on time.
Professor Cook knows his material and knows how to teach it, I recommend taking him.
Raymond Cook also happened to be my academic advisor! His ACC class is great! He starts from very basics, but goes into depth quickly, so make sure to understand and ask questions before things get more complicated. He is ready to repeat things as many times as needed. No homework besides preparing for tests. I also encourage you to use free tutor.
Amazing teacher. He really knows the material and he makes it easy to understand. His lectures are thoughtful, well organized and just what any student needs and wants to be successful in a class.
dont take this professor. whole grade is 3 test. doesnt cover everything on test in class. no study guides for the test.
It's OK... but not everything makes sense. Takes time after class.
I truly enjoyed this teacher... he wasn't too special but taught you everything you needed to know! the grade is only off 3 tests and class participation.... works in your favor though, since tests are not too hard.
His class is so confusing ,he goes very fast ,no reviews for the test .3 test only and no extra credit .
This professor mainly grades you upon 3 test grades. Suppose you do well on two tests, but poorly on another one. Then it would be impossible to get an A. And you'll be lucky to receive a B after that.
Your grade would depend mainly on 3 tests.
His three tests are basically your grade. He's also a tough grader.
This professor can care less about your grade. He will have 3 tests that are pretty hard, he is also a tough grader.
This professor is a tough grader. He basically grades you on how well you do in his 3 tests. No extra credit as well.
Take someone else. Save your gpa.
Honestly this was a tough course but Professor Cook was awesome! I am honestly in awe some people did not like him! I am so upset I can not take 212 with him but take him you will truly learn a lot. He is not too outgoing or "fun" but he is not boring, he truly helps you really understand all the content! Take him!
Love this guy. STIFF grader, but he's very clear about everything that's going to be on the test and excellent at dialing his knowledge down to the students' levels. He takes time to answer all questions. The course is simple, but PAY ATTENTION. There's a LOT to cover, it builds off of itself, and you WILL miss something important if you drift off.
if you are looking for a class to test your knowledge of reading a book and teaching yourself, take the online class. if you're looking for anyone to teach you or provide instruction, don't bother. no clear criteria for what's on the exam. no input from professor at all. not worth the time spent on this. sounds like online is v. dif than in person.
Professor Cook is great. Why don't people like that "your grade is basically based on 3 exams?" What is something better than that? No mandatory homework, just pay attention in class, after class study and understand them, you will be ready. It's not his fault if you don't go to class and not knowing the content. The exams are not hard. Take him.
The exam will test your understanding. You have no need to remember everything, just study handouts and read textbook that he told you to highlight. You will get "A " easily. However, there is no extra credit for this class. I recommend this professor.
Professor Cook is very good at covering the core material of intermediate accounting. This is a fairly challenging course for many and Professor Cook answers any/all questions asked in detail. I enjoyed this class and learned a lot.
You have to read the chapter on your own and answer complex homework questions prior to coming to class. He gives you the homework answers and the homework isn't graded. Your grade is based on 4 exams and one assignment that covers chapters he does not cover in class. You basically teach yourself and he gives you the answers. Don't ruin your GPA!
I'm taking him for Finance Management. We have an open book quiz after every class-by taking notes of what he is teaching you should be fine. He's caring and really tries to break things down for you. There are only 2 exams, one small project, and the quizzes. I am not crazy about finance but (need it for my degree) I like the way he teaches it.
Professor Cook is a great professor. ACC 211 online is HARD. I do not recommend taking this class online if you are not dedicated or interested in the subject. There is a lot of reading and you actually need to understand each chapter THOROUGHLY or else you will struggle A LOT. He gives excellent feedback on tests and tells you what to look over.
Professor Cook is amazing! I took Acc 211 & currently taking Acc212 with him. If you come to class, take notes and read what he indicates in the textbook you will for sure get an A in his class. He gives 4 opened book quizzes, 2 exams, and the final. His grading method is very generous. Seriously he is great and caring.
great teacher!!!! He takes his time to explain the material. Study the handouts and we will pass with an A easily.
His class is clear when it comes to grades. 4 assignments (quizzes) all open note and book. 2 exams and the final. he takes his time to explain any uncertainties and answer any questions. very accessible outside of class. i very much enjoyed his class
Weekly quizzes that are helpful for final exam, handouts that outline what that class will be about. From the first class to the last, they all build upon each other and it makes learning new topics easier. Possibly one of the best professors Ive taken so far. The class is relatively interesting, but it makes you think and remember old topics.
Why be a professor when you want your students to fail? Barely made it through his class.
Minimal homework assignments. A lot less than ACC 211. The exams are hard but you just have to try. Took this in 8 weeks and would take him again if needed. No book is needed but the McGraw Hill access code is mandatory. No extra credit.
Prof. Cook knows his stuff about accounting that's for sure. The class is not hard if you actually attend and pay attention. He's great at explaining concepts and gives good feedback. Lots of open book assignments which are more difficult than the actual tests and final, which is good news! Go through the motions and you'll get an A!
Absolute worst! Super tough! Very hard! You have to do the most! So much reading required, my friend's ACC212 class has literally quarter of the amount required and they are breezing through it. This was not a good class at all.
SAVE YOUR GPA! Avoid like the plague!
Very tough professor to take. Made the class unenjoyable.
VERY TOUGH TEACHER! I managed to switch out to a different professor, and passed with flying colors.
Impossible. I took his class, he only offers online not virtual. Which means there is no actual class online, just study and take test. How would he tell you to highlight? This is from himself. Half the class failed, this final, and I reached out to other people who took his class years before and it is the same situation.
I can't believe he didn't give any extra credit on top of making things more harder than it was supposed to be.
Too much to handle, he literally made it hell.
2 Tests basically dictate your grade, good luck because it is harder than calculus.
Prof Cook is great. He explains any questions you may have! His teaching methods are through hw and handouts(that we go over in class)! If you do the handouts and focus in class you are guaranteed to pass the tests! I am taking him again for ACC 212.
Prof Cook will help you succeed ONLY IF YOU try as well. Its easy to sleep thru class and then you will not pass. ACC is hard and you have to study the concepts since it goes fast and if you dont know whats going on it will be a nightmare. He does not try to make the class participate that's on you to ask q's. Also read the material before class
The Professor is very knowledgeable. Good lectures. Read the book before class, otherwise you might be lost in class. Homework is not graded, but it's good idea to do them. Study the handouts and homework before tests. Class is graded by very few assignments, so each grade counts.
Professor Cook did a good job covering the class material in a thorough and methodical way. He puts particular emphasis on the class exercises, which are key to mastering the course material and doing well on final and midterm. I would take additional accounting classes with Professor Cook and would encourage others to do as well.
Prof Cook is easy-going. He tries to make you understand all the exercises. This class has just some assignments. Not heavy. Of course, you also have to study by yourself.
Professor Cook clearly knows what he's talking about. I thought he did a good job explaining the content, I am just not a big fan of Accounting. Homework was pretty easy and I thought his exams would be more difficult, but it was actually very manageable. Accounting looks scarier than it actually is. I am taking him again for 212.
This professor is great. The homework was easy but you have learn the material. This professor response to emails and helps you out with understanding the assignments.
Great professor! He does a good job of explaining concepts and goes through examples in class of whatever will be on the exam. Accounting itself is a difficult subject but he takes the time to make sure his students understand the material. There is 1 hw for each module but it relates to the content and helps with understanding of material.
Very good proffesor, very patient got a c but because i didnt do too well on exams which was on my part but he took the time to go over material especially when you didnt understand
A great professor, his lectures were mostly based on the textbook and slides. The only reason I passed with a C was because I didn't do too well on exams and had a few missing assignments. I would definitely take him again. Attendance wasn't graded but it wasn't too difficult to catch up on lectures since the slides and work were posted on canvas.
