Good Professor, math was actually interesting! Tests were easy (Final was tougher). Lots of in class review, open to questions and class discussion. Missed classes OK as long as tests made up. Kept class interesting with everyday life applications and anecdotes. Occasionally disorganized, but lovable & forgiveable! I got a surprising 'A' in Math!

Cwalina is such a sweet man. Always willing to help, he even stays after if you need him to. Goes over everything that will be on a test to make sure you understand it. His final is a little harder, but not by much. Makes honest mistakes on the board, so watch what he writes!-overall he's a GREAT professor and it's a guaranteed "A" if you try.

Probably the best math teacher NOVA has to offer! He gives clear explanations, reviews right before tests, stays after class to answer questions, and gives great insight as to what to expect with future math classes. THE PERFECT TEACHER! Tells you only things important in math that youll need. Very straightfoward in his explanations. Lots of real life examples and fun facts(he works for the gov't). Dr. Raymond Cwalina is blessed from heaven. He is the greatest professors i ever had. A Student can understand the material (Calculus) easily. My advice, do what ever he tells you to do and you will get an easy "A".

He is the best.... I didnt even think he was gona pass me. But I did with a C :) I suggest you go to class b.c. notes are very important. He is really chill teacher and he gave us a review packet for the final. I did the packet and when I took the final 95% of the questions that were on the review packet were on the final.

Before this class, I didn't have any interest in math at all. well, I still don't but he makes it soo easy that you would want to go to class. All you have to do is do everything he says and you'll be good. I'd recommend him to anyone who has trouble in math.

VERY NICE professor!! His teaching method is excellent!! Textbook is a must and we use it every class. Tests are very similar to what we learned in class and quite similar to the homework problems assigned. You have to study and put effort into learning the material!

Mr. Cwalina is one of the BEST Math Teachers EVER!! I was unprepared for Math 166 and had to drop out early, but it was a great experience while I was there. He also has lots of knowledge in other areas and helps relate Math to real-life situations. Pay attention in class! You don't want to waste his time or your's! :-)

If u want to learn math, do take him. If u are looking for an easy A, i'm not sure he is the right one. He explains everything and gives you HW. HW is not required but i did it anyway. I wanted to learn and fully understand PreCal. IF u pay atttention, you will learn. Just do the HW and pay attention in class and you will be fine. 100% recommended

Believe the hype. Professor Cwalina is the real deal. Super-helpful, funny, concise, and a generous grader. The textbook reads like stereo instructions, but he teaches you what you need to know and makes it easy to understand. One of the best teachers I've ever had in ANY subject. This professor was AWSOME! I also thank Professor.com for the great review on this professor. Exellent teaching, explains and color codes each step to the problems. He reviews 30 minutes prior to the exams and does offer test correctionn. After taking the class, I was able to take the placement test and got into MTH 151. GOOD JOB professor C!

He is an awesome PROF!! I wish he taught CALC but he mostly teaches preCAlc.. attendence is not required but recommended. HW is not required but Recommended. He don't take attendance. Mr. C is an amazing professor. Probably one of the best in NOVA. He takes time to make sure you understand the curriculum. Homework (PLEASE DO IT!) He notices hard work and grades mostly by effort and one's comprehension. He's easy to get along with but despises side conversations. Attention is required! He's been everywhere and always has a story!

I took him for Precal MTH 166 and it was great. He doesn't take attendance but I recommend you don't miss any class. He doesn't collect HW but I recommend you do all the HW. If you attend class and do HW, you will pass. Explains everything step by step. Teaching style identical to Prof Pellerin. Cwalina and Pellerin are the 2 best MTH PROF in NOVA

Mr Cwalina is the best math teacher i've ever had!He has given me so much confidence in my math skills and given me the tools to succeed.He gives real world examples for everything too.I should note, you have to show up and be interested, he responds to questions in class and is always willing to meet you before or after class to answer questions.

Wow, I've taken Cwalina for both MTH 166 and MTH 173 this semester. This man is amazing, not only as a teacher, but as a human being. He has the ability to make calculus EASY, I've received >90% on 3 out of 4 of my tests. Don't get me wrong though, you do need to put in work to get A's, but he makes the concepts crystal clear!

Currently taking his class, but I can foresee the easiest A ever. I've never written a comment for any prof, but him. He's very decent and sweetie!! whenever I got the right answer in class assignment, he always blink his eye with me, which encourages me a lot. We have like 4-5 test included final, several hw assignments. Tests based on those hw.

Great professor. Took him over the summer, was pretty intense, lots of HW, but mainly because of short 6 weeks course. 3 tests and comprehensive final. On the day of final he surprised us and let us use textbook, so that was nice. His lectures were interesting, because he would always tell us real life examples about stat.

Awesome professor. By far the best professor I've ever had. Wish I could take him for Calc 1 but he only teaches in late afternoon/night classes because he works in the Capital. Very Helpful, doesn't teach un-needed material, he teaches Calculus as well so he knows what is necessary and what is busy work. Study guide for every test. Take him.

Professor Cwalina is a great professor in the end. He tells you what he wants ahead of time. Make SURE you do your summer assignment! Plus he gives you review problems and picks a few that will be on the exams. he also took time out of his sundays to hold review sessions at Burke Center Library. I wish he taught Calc2

1)Don't miss his class because he explains how to solve problems, and it is really helpful and useful for exams. 2) He will give you REVIEW for each exams, and you can see exactly same type of problems when taking exams. If you do just these two steps, you will easily get A.

I've now taken two classes with Professor Cwalina. 1) He clearly explains how to do the problems 2) He gives you a review for the test; the review problems are almost identical to the actual problems on the test. Yes, you will have to actually ... *Gasp!* study and practice, but if you do, you'll get an A. Take him; you won't regret it.

He is, by far the best math professor I have taken. He is willing to sit down and dicuss step by step what you did wrong, or how you solve a problem. He really cares for his students and is also very good at teaching his materials! However, you do have to work for your grade, and you must study!

Hard class and I'm smart in math. Makes you work for an A, but grades very fairly and he doesn't mind grading the same thing over again. Very clear with what is hw and what will be on tests. A lot of homework, paper and online. He cares about his students though and is highly intelligent and wise. Doesn't like laziness. Doesn't take late work.

Great teacher. He gives you extensive review outlines for every test if you do the WHOLE thing you will have no problem on the test. Don't just graze over it and expect to pass he'll pull problems from the harder parts but he basically tells you what they are going to be with the review. No Surprises. Great Lectures. First review on here. I came with a poor math background in high school, but after 2 semesters with Mr. Cwalina, I have found an understanding and confidence I never thought I could have. The best math teacher I have encountered, he is there if you need help. If you are willing to work hard, then you will do well in class. Highly recommend!

AMAZING PROFESSOR!I had him for precalctrig and for calc 1 wish he taught calc 2 during summer would have taken him again. hes so helpful so inspirational and always their for his students... he even gave me a recommendation letter for NIH... Definitely a teacher I will stay in contact with! if you have the chance TAKE HIM!!!

Took the online linear class with him & finished it in 8 days total. He made the the midterm & final (allows cheat sheet) available for me at the testing center the first week of the class so I could move at my own pace. Ran through the video lecture, did the HW, & (every other)took a quiz for each section. Answers emails quickly and SUPER nice.

Exam problems are exactly same as the homework problems, and the assigned homework problems are fairly basic and easy. Ask questions to the prof, and he'll respond quickly. I think this Linear Algebra ONLINE class is easier than the on-campus lecture class.

You have to put in lots of work. Very friendly

I took Precalc before so his class wasnt hard for me. However, if you havent taken Precalc before, I think it will be a little bit challenging. He grades homework base on completions and do it if you want good grades on tests. Tests were average. Make sure you practice the study guide he gave you and show your works the test then you will be fine

Very funny social guy , not very accessible out of class but he will try online and email you help. Study guides for every test no surprises, a lot of homework for little points but well worth it to practice for the test. Overall a real beauty an amazing professor, real strict on showing work on tests but not a hard class just do the study guides

EXCELLENT professor! One of the best, he really cares. Wished he taught my other math classes. Only reason I got a B was due to miscommunication from ALEKS, not a great choice by NOVA, lots of room for improvement from ALEKS, Prpfessor Rocks!

I took this class over the summer so it was 8wk and async. Bc of this, I did not experience his lectures. But overall, he provided detailed info about upcoming tests/quizzes. In every email he was understanding, helpful, and encouraging. Really nice guy :)

Professor Cwalina was an excellent teacher for MTH 161. He can come off as rude at times because of his no-nonsense personality but he is truly a genuine person and cares about each of his students. He is very accessible and offered to help students outside of class when they needed more instruction. I would definitely take classes with him again!

BEST PROFESSOR! Calc 2 is every difficult subject but prof manages to make it very entertaining by letting us engage and problem solve despite it being an online class. He is extremely friendly and understanding and genuinely cares for his students. He truly wants the best for you and will help you in many ways. He is truly the best :)

He is a cool dude. Never went to class because of scheduling errors but he records his lectures and posts them so that helps. Tests are worth 80% of your grade but they are almost identical to his review guides so that always helps. Down to earth and chill dude but don't expect him to break the rules or even give you lots of flexibility.great prof!

Professor C was very accessible after class and before he really cares about his students and wanted us to succeed.
