awesome professor, very entertaining and funny

Likes to give frequent pop quizzes. Has a nice sense of humor and keeps class interesting. He does talk about Freud and sex a lot tho...

Way too much reading involved!

Loads of content, very helpful if you ask. Hard to understand and follow the lectures. Need to read a bunch for a decent grade.

Very hard course, lots of content, clear lecture style...lots of information to try and remember in one semester.

Some students love him, some students hate him.

He was a consistent fair teacher. He was not the most interesting teacher.

Pretty fun class, good sense of humor. However, most students were dressed better. This guy thinks he could start in center field for the yankees.

Dr. Dolle is controversial. His casual demenour and dry humor make students either love or hate him. Just remember that he's trying to get a response from you- it makes class more interesting. He knows what he's talking about! Listen to him and learn.

I was scared of him at first, but then I realized he was only pretending to be mean. He was very nice to me during the meetings I had with him to discuss my papers and tests. I reccomend him only if you have a sense of humor and can take a lot of sarcasm.

I thought he was an amazing teacher. He's hilarious, nice, and will work with you if you need it. He really doesnt care when the deadlines for his papers are, as long as they are good. Listen and do your work, and you will get an A in this class. He's AWESOME!!

I thought Dolle was a great teacher!! I was tough...but this is college! Id take him again!

Great Teacher! He really makes the course intersting. I highly recomend taking him for ENG 239.

Dolle is hilarious, a good teacher, and loves beer.. so most college kids should be able to relate to him

The class wasn't difficult at all if you read the assignments. It was a lot of fun, and I'd take it again.

He has "pop" quizes that are easy, just pay attention and you will be fine. Very good in class, fun to listen to.

Quizes and tests are really REALLY easy. As long as you read you will do fine! Papers are easy as well and he does not grade very hard. I've really enjoyed having him in both classes, would take him again, and would suggest to anyone else to take him.

He's a nice guy and really laid back. He likes to tell a bunch of stories, but usually winds up wasting half of class time doing so. He wants things done HIS way or you're screwed. And a lot of times his way is the longest most tedious way there is. I know he usually teaches literature so maybe this just isn't his thing.

Verty intersting, makes class fun but still challenging

I've taken several classes with Dr. Dolle and have found him to be great. He makes the material interesting and, if you get involved with the discusions, the class is enjoyable. He puts on a hard ass front, but he's more than willing to help anyone who needs it and is a really nice guy if you give him a chance. Highly Recommended!

He is a wonderful teacher who, knows what he is talking about and he is very insightful to what he knows and what we need to know in the class. I think that i will take him in future classes if i can. Wonderful guy easy laid back and a just all around nice guy. make sure you read!!!!! And you will be fine.

Great Professor. I'd take one of his classes again in a heartbeat even though English isn't my major. He told me one of my papers was one of the best he's ever read. Seems "hard", but he's really a nice guy.

Even though this class is at 8am he never put the class to sleep. People were always alert and interested.

Dolle is one of the best literature and writing professors at ISU. For that reason, nursing, education,and business students probably won't like him. He will expect you to be concerned with things that should interest most human beings outside of a specialty or career path. The construction and tech students favor him for his practicality.

Pretty good class. You will learn a lot and your knowledge of literature will be increased. Class is at 8am though and that always sucks. But, all in all an okay class.

He scared me at first and I thought I would hate the class but 2 weeks in and it was my fav. Get involved with the class and you'll have a good time and learn a lot too.

Dolle is a realistic guy. Enjoy a cigarette with him after class. His teaching gets you involved and he pulls ideas from his students to build his lectures. As a student of his, I felt like we were on the same level. He's got a love for humor too. Always a plus.

This professor takes some getting use to, but when you get to know his style, he is a great teacher. He truly cares about his students.

He gives great feedback listen to it and you will do great. If you add more even better.

I have had Dr. Dolle for several classes and I love him! I still swing by his office when I'm in the building to just say hi. He really cares about his students! He is also hilarious, especially for English 230 at 8am! I would highly recommend him to anyone!

He's a pretty cool guy. Has alot of interesting stories, and def knows his early american english. Should have probably recieved lower than a B- but I think he liked me. Go to class! That is a big part of your grade He gives out quizes at least twice a week!

This guy quickly became my favorite teacher and definitely makes coming to class at 8am worth it. Very helpful and funny guy. It's always great when you find a teacher that you're comfortable just talking to in normal conversation. He also knows what he's talking about completely. Fantastic professor.

Great teacher, Looks like Chuck Norris, and is very funny, learned alot in his class.

Really good prof. Helpful if you ask. Keeps class entertaining. Attendance mandatory up to 3 absenses or grade suffers a bit. Pretty much daily quizzes but they're easy and always have extra credit added. Daily readings but nothing major. I recommend his class!

He is a good professor. When speaking to the class he is clear, concise, and often funny. He expects a lot out of his students. In my personal experience, he can be somewhat condescending.

Dr. Dolle is such a great guy. He's really personable and funny. I have enjoyed his class a lot. I will probably get an A. He's a fairly easy grader, too. As long as you put forth some effort, you will be just fine. Oh,expect quizzes almost every class period. This means you MUST read the assigned text. The quiz grades are a huge part of the class.

Dr. Dolle is awesome. He is also very funny. I enjoyed going to his class. He didn't have very hard tests or quizzes. All you needed to do for the class was read the required material.

Read every night because most likely there will be a small quiz EVERY class period. They are easy usually. Good class.

He is a jolly guy, passionate about the subject matter. Very easy class, heavy reading. Quizzes over every reading. 1-8 fill in the blank. If you read, you will pass. 2 test, 2 short papers, quizzes. I would recommend him for your ENG classes!

This man is very interested in the subject so he always has funny things to say, and lets you also speak on how you think. The 2 papers, 2 tests, and multiple quizzes are very easy to do if you read the material or at least skim it. Extra credit is even given which is also easy. He is respectful and has no prejudice toward anyone. I recommend him!

Dolle has a rough exterior but underneath it he is a nice guy. Not afraid to embarrass his students. If he intimidates you, go to his office hours and you'll find he is very willing to go out of his way to help you any way he can. Obviously cares about the subject but isn't receptive to opinions that differ from his own.

He's a good dude who has a real enthusiasm for the material in the course. I didn't like early American Lit going into this course, but he made it fun.

Probably one of the more awesome teachers in the English department. Pretty easy to get along with.

Dr. Dolle is a great professor all the way around. He's passionate about literature, teaches students what they need to know about it for the upper-level literature courses, and is all-around a great guy. He's hilarious. Be prepared to take several pop quizzes throughout the semester. He drops the lowest 2. I highly recommend his classes.

Dr. Dolle is a great professor and he keeps learning about literature entertaining. There are quizzes every week so make sure that you read all of the assigned texts. Not too much to read at once. I would take a class with him again.

The whole class is reading for homework, then taking a 5 question, 10 point quiz on what you read. There are 2-3 quizzes a week. Usually on random days.
