he is the worst professor and I stand by that. His tests are awful with half of the information on the test not even about what he taught us. Another thing is that he puts random questions on the test that you would have absolutely no idea how to answer. All of it is application-based. Lastly, he doesn't even tell you when the quizzes are due.

Please don't take this professor. His tests consist of random questions about his lectures (ex. Did I talk about burritos in the first lecture?), most of them are lengthy and wordy, not to mention he will take a concept he's never taught in lecture and make atleast 5-10 questions on the test about it. He sets you up for failure.

Not very organized. Does not add some concepts present in tests or lectures in the syllabus and course outline. When confronted, just replies with "Well, I'm telling you now". The syllabus and his lectures sometimes do not match, which makes it confusing for students.

Teaches off-syllabus topics, and when asked, dismisses students rudely. His explanations of stats are ambiguous—no formulas, not much clarity on symbols. When a student asked about standard deviation formula/calc he just said, “read the textbook” (author of his tb). Constantly brags about course difficulty. Purely sets you up to fail nothing else.

This professor is not considerate and seems to not have empathy. I tried speaking with him a few times and did not feel good about it, I'd say condescending is the best way to describe him.

Honestly, he wasn't that bad at times the tests were not easy but he does provide ways to get your grade up. He provides bonus questions on tests up to 5 marks such as a bonus mark for writing your name and student number on each page of the test. He also provide a 1-2 free marks on the multiple choice down side lot's of reading and don't skip.

I definitely recommend taking PSYC 2030 with Dr. Mar. He explains all concepts CLEARLY. He stays past lecture to answer questions, answers emails promptly, and even holds Zoom test prep sessions the day before the tests. He does all he can to help you get a good grade! The rest is up to you—attend lecture and read the text!

The first thing he said was, “This course is hard.” It had three cumulative tests, with the last two being similar. He explains with too many words, which can be confusing. Tests pull from the textbook, so reading it is essential. The course is tough but manageable, if you put in the work.

This is the first review I post here. Dr. Mar is a fantastic professor and human being—the best I've had in my 3.5 years of university. He is clear, concise, firm but respectful, and very knowledgeable. If you attend his class with an open mind and an intention to learn, you'll see exactly what I mean.

Prof. Mar can seem harsh, but he genuinely wants you to learn. He knows his stuff and explains the content in great detail. His tests are tricky, but fair as they push you to think critically. Overall, the course isn't too difficult. He just wants to challenge you, which can be frustrating, but by the end, you'll appreciate how much you've learned.

The professor is quite intimidating and takes themselves too seriously. Although, this professor is quite hardworking, and passionate about what they are teaching, they will constantly try to make students feel inferior unfortunately.

His exams were pretty difficult and he can come across as rude or mean in lecture with the phone policy but he is great at explaining concepts and made a boring subject like research methods much more interesting.

Weirdly formatted online class, very challenging to learn some coding concepts. Professor knows his stuff but is very condescending, and acts like he is superior to everyone. Easily the worst class and prof combo at this school.

DO NOT SKIP LECTURE is my biggest recommendation. Otherwise read the textbook, which he makes pretty easy because he posts the sections you can avoid in the syllabus, so you can narrow your focus. Otherwise very engaging in lecture, although annoying and arrogant sometimes, very intellectual and inspiring.

Something very strange about this professor. Confusing rubrics and there's something very sneaky about the way he communicates material to the class. At one point almost the entire class was in agreement about his behaviour, we were all seeing red from anger at his behaviour.

Negatively impacts the sense of community in his class by disallowing the use of electronics and by allowing his overinflated sense of self importance to dominate the entire classroom and resulting semester. Feels very oppressive.

The online version of this course with him is definitely challenging if you have a full course load. However, if you want a good grade you can totally make it work since your grade starts at 100 and then goes down from there. You can get perfect on most assignments except some of the coding maybe. No tests as well. But definitely not for everyone

Professor Mar was very smart and intellectual but halfway through a sentence sometimes he would stop and look off into the distance and clench his fists and then this look filled with rage would cross his face but then he'd come back to the lecture as quickly as he'd left and things would go on as if nothing had ever happened.
