He is excellent professor and he really has a way of relating subjects discussed in class to things in your everyday lives to help you comprehend them.I recommend that you take his class!!!

I was petrified of Micro but Dr. Menard has made learning a hard subject fun! He is extremely knowledgeable about the subject and genuinely wants to see his students succeed. He TELLS YOU what's going to be on the test. If you don't get a good grade, you didn't try. I absolutely recommend him for Micro.

Great intstructor. He grades strictly by the book, old school and get down with the boogie down. He knows how to have a good laugh while strictly getting the lessons across. Im averaging a reasonable grade, but thats on my part. Study and do your work, you'll survive more than other professors here. Lighten up!

Dr. Menard is a great teacher. I found the class pretty easy. He gives a review for each test. There are a lot of lab reports but they're easy and he grades very fair. If you don't do well in his class it would have to be pure laziness on your part.

Dr. Menard is one of the best teacher's I've had. The subject matter is extremely difficult, yet he makes it enjoyable. The class is demanding, but as he say, "It's not basket-weaving 101." Dr. Menard is a great professor! I was a little over whelmed when the class first started but as time went by I got the hang of it. I have no biology background and still got a B. There is alot of work but I am more prepared now for the nursing program! No more easy A's!!!

Great instructor! His class is hard, but if you study you can get an A. 3 tests and a final. 60% of the final is exact questions from the first 3 tests. Gives easy homework and quizes that help with your grade and an easy 50 points group project. Pay attention to him when he says "this will show up on the test". Definately recommended.

Dr. Menard is AWESOME!! I love him! I was scared of Micro, but he turned a hard material into smth simple and understandable! His class was a piece of cake, very easy, especially labs. I got A in all his exams and papers! Exams were little tough, but it's not that bad. You have to be really stupid not to pass his class! He is HOT!Take him!

Very knowledgeable, good teacher. He is kind to students who work hard but he does tend to belittle students who were struggling. We had an international student in our class who I felt bad for because Dr. Menard was rude to him. I did well in the class, but sometimes felt that he was talking down to us as if we were 5 year olds.

Dr. Menard is the BEST teacher I have had at SPC. He is VERY helpful, enjoys what he does & wants to see his students do well. Lab was EASY and alot of fun. If you don't like studying, do yourself a favor and drop out of college. This is college, not High School. Anyways, Dr. Menard is amazing, just study his notes to get an A, and use the reviews to..review! PAY ATTENTION in lab or else he will get annoyed. Great teacher. He really enjoys the subject and it shows. Micro is not easy but he helps you understand the subject and what you need to know for the test. He's sincerely a great teacher and I ended up interested in micro after the class... Very interesting!

Honestly speaking I was scare of Micro, but Dr. Menard made it very interesting and fun. I end up passing his class with an A. However his class isn't easy. You will have to put lots of effort into it. Lots of studying. I deffinately recommend him. Trust me you'll learn a lot about micro once you finish with it.

Lab class text book use is high. Lecture, don't bother unless you need the background info. VERY odd sense of humor, if he's being rude he's trying to be funny. Not an easy A, but people do score 100s on tests and in class. So get a GOOD study partner. And STUDY. Will help you if you need it, but try to figure it out first. Dont be stupid.

Very helpful and has a crazy sense of humor. Study the notes, possibly get a recorder and use the review sheets. For the lab, skim through the manual before and take a lot of notes. A word of advice..stay away from soccer moms for lab..they don't pay attention and are always rushing/clumsy and overall annoying. Hook up w/someone from another class.

Dr. Menard is the best teacher hands down and I think his sense of humor is great! He is very smart and really makes the information easy to understand. If you pay attention and do the work, you can get an A or B. My only complaint is that he does not teach every other class I need. TAKE HIM!

This is the best professor Ive ever had, and ive taken alot of classes. Prepares you for the tests perfectly. Before taking this class all i heard about was how hard it was going to be, but with menard, it was easy and I learned alot also. Take him and you wont regret it

Dr. Menard was great. He posts PowerPoints, so you don't have to purchase the lecture textbook. There are 4 tests, for which he prepares you well. Study hard & prepare well, you won't regret taking him. And by the way, I'm one of those clumsy, annoying soccer moms that previous posts mentioned to stay away from - but I worked hard & earned an A.

Dr. Menard wants you to succeed, he tells you exactly what is on the test and gives you a thorough review. I did not use the book, he goes by his PP and lecture notes. I studied about 10-15 hours per week to earn an A+. You can do it. Take his lab if you can. I mean he tells you exactly what is on the test...there is no way you can't get an A.

he gives 3 exams & a final exam. his tests are some multiple choice, fillins, & essays. For the essays part, he'll tell you exactly how he wanted on the test. 1 class presentation that is graded by your peers. Last exam was multiple choice for our class. You need to study hard in his class to get "A" but it is achievable with lots of efforts.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER HANDS DOWN! Dr. Menard is extremely intelligent and passionate about what he does. He also knows how to make people laugh and smile. His class is not easy by any means, it does require a lot of time and energy, but it is the most rewarding feeling to have worked so hard in the class to know what you are truly capable of.

Menard is tough but fair. There's a lot of study and writing. I learned and the content was interesting which is what college is for. I got my money's worth! I was pregnant with twins during his classes and found him accommodating and kind. He does get a little irritated with laziness and ignorance though so watch out!

Dr. Menard is a top-notch professor. SPC is lucky to have his expertise and life experience. I agree that his sense of humor can by dry but personally, I like it. Life is full of criticism. The real world won't coddle you. The only time I observed his frustration was with winers and cheaters. Listen, study, be mature and you'll do well in class.

He is an experienced scientist who knows what he is talking about. He keeps the class fun and interesting. It's an easy class, but he gives good insight to where I feel like I'm actually learning. I'll take him again for my other upper level biology classes!

Dr Menard was always very helpful, nice, and funny person to be around. You can always go to him if you don't understand anything and he is willing to help. I took this class over the summer, it is not easy there is a lot of material. He tells you exactly whats going to be on the test there are 3 exams, 1 final and a group project. I highly recommend DR. Menard he makes learning micro fun! Just remember to study and you will pass with an A!

I took micro lab over the summer, it was very hard! You actually have to know what you are doing, you can't expect to read something and pass. Make sure on the first day of class you sit next to someone you know is smart & comes to class, that will be your lab partner. 2 exams, 3 lab reports, and an unknown(a unknown microbe) lab report.

He is the best! Have to study. But pretty much what I have read on reviews here. Do not be late and wear closed toe shoes for lab. Do not buy a book, you will not use it even though he says to buy it. Make flashcards and study your butt off. Great knowledgeable teacher.

One of the best instructors I've ever had. Microbiology can be a difficult class but Dr. Menard breaks everything down to be easily understood. He gives you all the material needed to pass the class and makes every class interesting. I wouldn't take Microbiology with anyone else.

This is my first time taking ANY Bio class. Dr. Menard is clear on what he wants you to study for. Follow his study guides, or material he provides for you, and STUDY. For the most part, every lab exam was fill in the blank. Put aside time and learn definitions of words, organisms, etc. I'd take him again since he is clear on what he looks for.

Dr. Menard is a great professor. Though his grades aren't given to you, he pushes you to work for it. Those who speak negatively of him, they didn't put in enough time and effort. I spent countless hours/days studying for his exams, even had to take days off of work. All worth it, I managed to get A's in lab and lecture. It can be done. Just STUDY

Attend class, put in the study time. He's incredibly clear (beat-you-over-the-head-obvious) about what is on the exam. Material isn't easy but he breaks it down and gives plenty partial credit. Tons of ways to supplement your grade if exams aren't for you. Interesting, thorough, great teacher. No idea why he isn't at a major university.

GREAT professor. Goes over EVERYTHING you need to know for exams. This is not a gimme class. You will need to show up and do the work for your A but it was a pretty easy A because I showed up, listened to him and studied what he told me to study. Very funny and keeps class interesting.

Dr Menard was an awesome professor. In lecture, we had 3 tests, a group presentation (10-15min long), and a final exam. During his lectures, he tells you what is on the test. The professor cares about his students doing successful on the lab reports and test. Everything he writes on the board is going to be on the test so pay attention. Experiments were fun to perform. Unknown lab wasn't stressful but if you got it bacteria incorrect, he just marks 2 points off so you still get an A.

He tells in class what stuff that he wants you to study for the test. As long you look over the study guide, you can pass this class easily with a good grade. The group project wasn't hard as long you speak around 10-15 minutes. Final exam wasn't difficult, it was on the 3 exams you took for this semester and the group presentations.

Take Professor menard and you wont regret it. Dont buy the book he have PowerPoints you can print. If you want to pass the class dont study anything else but the study guides. Exam questions come directly from either what he writes on the board or the lab manual; very straightforward. Dont be late!

Super helpful & great Professor, as long as you attend and study hard on your own you will pass! Professor provides the student with the material they need to succeed, just study and attend class.

TAKE HIM! Dr. Menard teaches something he loves, and it shows. He had a dedicated career in a crime lab, moved to cancer research, then teaching. He also runs the undergraduate research laboratory on campus for students interested in research. He's genuinely hilarious, provides amazing study guides, and may or may not own a real bunker. Legend.

Dr. Menard is hands down the best SPC professor. He truly cares about his students and his subject matter. Even when we had to go online due to the pandemic he made the class engaging and he was always accessible. My only regret was not taking his lecture too! He is fair and understanding. I fully recommend taking his courses!

Youll regret not taking Professor Menard. Before I took micro I was nervous because of how tough this subject can be. I Took him for lecture and lab and I can honestly say I enjoyed microbiology. Study guides are just like the exams, assignments and quizzes were easy and also helpful when studying for exams. Overall great professor!

This prof is SOO sweet!! He really takes his time to grade and explain things even for a online class. All weekly quizes, not a lot of work, midterm and final are worth a lot but he provides you a review which is VERY useful. Lab was much harder. Overall, GREAT professor for a very hard class. TAKE HIM he cares and loves what he does!! :)

I took Dr. Menard for both lecture and lab. He's a great professor! The videos for his lectures are pretty straightforward, he tells you what you'll be tested on for the midterm and the final. He even creates a study guide for the midterm and final. He give you all the recourses you need to do well, it's just up to you to put in the work.

Don't buy book for lecture. All quizzes, mid term and final are based on his power points. Study the items and terms in RED A every time! truly tells you what to know . Provides study guide for mid and final. No extra credit but you dont need it. This class was NOTHING what I thought it would be, I got an A+ due to Dr Menard. Take him!

Amazing professor! Tells you all the material you need to know to succeed in the course. Has great power points and tells you what information to focus on (highlighted in red). Midterm and final are worth a lot of your grade but if you study the study guide he provides theirs no way you won't get an A on them ! TAKE HIM HES THE BEST!!!

This was actually my 2nd time taking Microbiology, I had a different professor last time and failed. This has been the easiest class I have taken - and I say easy because everything he teaches is very clear and straight to the point. You'll know exactly what to study for in this class! His study guides are so helpful. Just show up and do the work!

Dr. Menard makes the class fun. There are detailed videos each week, and the work load is pretty light. He is a fair grader who makes getting an A easy. My only suggestion is to memorize the study guides, because it is EXACTLY what is on the test! Super easy, fun professor!

Great professor and easy class! I only had him for lab, and he outlines everything you have to do so you won't be confused in class (and because of covid, I didn't have lab partners). Two exams and one unknown lab report at the end. Write down whatever he writes down on the board and you're set!

Dr. Menard is amazing. He is such a fun, passionate teacher. He wants to help you understand and he will give his best to help you succeed. Im not good at science but he made me want to show up and learn because he believed in me when I truly didnt. I see why everyone recommends him he is amazing. So happy I took this class. Prof. Menard was amazing! his labs are fun and educational, and he truly cares for his students. His class requires attendance for 4 lab reports that is almost impossible to do without attending labs, but are easy as long as you go. There are weekly quizzes and discussion posts that aren't difficult and the TB is not mandatory but helps. TAKE HIM!!

As an online class, it wasn't a live class. He uploads YT videos for you to watch and take notes on. There's weekly quizzes and discussion posts that aren't hard and two exams that he makes study guides for. USE THE STUDY GUIDES, whatever is on the guides is on the test. Other than that he was a great prof. TAKE his class and the LAB!!

Prof Menard - makes u understand the material. Pros- gives study guide in advance, available for help, funny, uses phrases to help you understand Cons- has fill in the blanks on some test I would not choose another professor if he is available!!!!

Lab with Dr. Menard was great. He wants you to understand the material so he is available outside of class. If you want help you have to ask. Funny professor, but do not pull out ur phone during lab class (big no-no) Best part was the last project, but it's a lot of writing. Worth it! Take him if he is available, you will regret if you do not!

Dr. Menard is a great professor. He gives you a study guide for all of his tests and the test is exactly like the study guide. He doesnt give homework in fact, there is hardly any assignments. He cares about your grade so hes available to answer questions after class. I would definitely recommend you take his class for Microbiology and Lab.

He is a great professor. The tests are exactly like the study guides, we did a fill in the blank test and some multiple choice tests. Make a quizlet and just practice spelling/memorization, don't try to passively memorize things. His lectures/labs often ended early. Dr. Menard is also just a cool person to talk to in general, so attend office hour.

Dr. Menards class was TOUGH. But it was totally worth the study time put into it to learn what I did. He is very open and honest about not missing class and studying for the exams. There are 2 lab exams and 3 lecture exams. And the discussion papers actually help you understand the material he goes over. I would take this class again.

Hi guys. I took him for both lecture and lab. I got As in both classes. He's the most caring professor I have ever taken by far. He cares about students even after they're done with the classes, and offers recommendations. I am sad the class was finished. write down his notes and study the exam study guide, you will pass with an excellent grade.

Dr. M is one of the best professors I've taken, he's clear on what is expected and is always available when you need help. His exams are tough, however, he provides detailed study guides. I took both of his lectures and lab during the summer, there were discussion posts, lab reports, and 4 exams including the final for lecture and 2 exams for lab.

Menard is a good prof cause he provides good exam review guides and you wont see anything on exam thats not on the review but his lecture exams are a combo of multiple choice & short answer & his labs are pretty much all short answers. Def have to study them for at least a week and never miss labs. Overall, he is clear on what he wants though.

Pay attention, stay off your phones (especially in lab) and do the work. He is a great teacher, available after class. Lectures are good. Clear grading criteria, not even close to a tough grader. He will dismiss you if you dont follow lab rules though, Ive seen it.

Professor Menard is extremely clear about what he expects and what will be on the exams. If you do poorly in this class, you need to take a deep look in the mirror because this man hands you everything essentially on a platter. You know what will be on exams because he provides study guides. Do discussion posts and you'll ace this class.

From the beginning he was very clear on what he expects of students. He creates study guides for exams. As long as you do your work & turn it on time, you're bound to get an A. Under no circumstances will he accept late work. He makes his class fun, by far one of the best professors I have ever had. If you need to take micro, take his class!

Lab consisted of discussion posts, 5 quizzes-open note, 2 lab exams, 3 lab reports & unknown lab report. Everything he writes on the board could pop up on a quiz. Take notes. Grades fast! If you get an undesired grade, it is most certainly YOUR fault. He invests a lot of time into helping his students succeed. However, he is still no nonsense.

Professor Menard is an excellent lecturer who provides detailed study guides. Attend class, complete discussion posts, and utilize resources like unstuck study to ace this manageable yet engaging course.

Let me just say something, I took him for nursing and listen he makes you interested in microbio. His class was so much fun and EASY. He gives you everything you need to know about the exams, if you fail, I promise it's on you. One of the professors that actually liked Teaching! Which is rare especially in nursing school. Just take him & have fun.

Professor Menard is excellent! He's tough but makes lectures and labs engaging and insightful. You'll learn a lot if you stay on top of the material. His teaching style challenges you to do your best, and if you're prepared and keep up with readings, an A is definitely achievable. Highly recommend

I was actually able to learn and understand Microbiology because of him. Study the material in red and the study guides, make an effort, and you will be fine!

Professor Menard is incredibly friendly, and his expectations for his class are evident. You can get good grades if you follow his advice. Please write down the information he writes on the board when he tells you to do it since this could be potential information going to the tests.

Heavy work load and hands on lab. This is the best teacher I've ever taken and the work load helps you understand the material. Therefore, if you show up and follow directions and study you can get an A. Taking this teacher was a great choice for me and I'm thankful to have experienced what a “great” teacher is.

The professor was awesome! He was super kind, funny, and knowledgeable. Professor was easily available outside of class if a student needed help. My only heads up would be that the class is lecture heavy, with few graded assignments. But all the assignments and exams were easy, professor was clear on what to study or how to do assignments.
