subjective grading...doesnt like to hand out A's, even if you earned it...he'll take it out in participation, or grade very hard
Course covers a lot of material. He adds a lot of examples from his own research and consulting. Grades hard, but fair. Made me work hard and I learned how to write a formal research paper in his class!
Excellent teacher, is willing to take the time to help you learn the topic, and is always willing to help, and give professional advice.
He taught the honors section of GIS on Technology. It was his first year but if you can take it, then do, he's great!
Very unprofessional. He doesn't seem to care about his students or their opinions. Does not present an open mind in class discussions. I also expected more from an Honors course. However,he is very knowledgeable of his field- his teaching ability may improve on upper level classes. I still do not recommend taking this class or this professor.

I have Papp for Global Issues and Gateways, hes pretty awesome. Class can be a bit boring, but he does his best.
Josh you're such a kiss ass. I doubt your gateways was any better. Papp sucks ass and if i heard one more time about his dad and the web-cam i would have shot myself. Dr. Papp doesn't know anything and when he's corrected he just says he doesn't know. The class is less exciting than sitting on a bench waiting for a late bus.
(continued) should be common knowledge, and he told the same story 7 times without realizing he already told it. basically, he teaches outdated material, doesn't teach it correctly, and tests on stuf that he NEVER covered in class and was NOT in the book. All of this can be summarized in 5 words. He stinks, don't take him.
wtf?!?! learning about computers for "global issues"...since when are hard drives a world wide crisis?? he can't even teach computers correctly....which is the worst part. he was corrected by a student in class about something that for a computer teacher. (sry it only let me type 350 charecters so i had to rate him twice....lol I BEAT THE SYSTEM!!)

No idea what this guy's deal is. Wandering, rambling stories. A poor attempt at being a nerd. Has to be corrected at times, and often rambles classes away. Tempermental if no one shows up to his class.
GIS was a great class. He covered a lot of fun stuff. So his stories were boring--so what! He cares about students and wants them to learn. Grow up this is college not high school!!!!!!!!
The most rude professor I've ever encountered. The class in general is boring but he makes it painful to sit through.. he knows his stuff about computers but hates teaching, students, and answering questins. projects are ridiculously hard and he won't help at all if you dont understand. anyone else is better then this guy!

Great class! He shares his research with class and real world experiences. LOTS of work but fair grading. Don't take the day class-too many with no clue-take the night section. Be prepared to work in his class!!!!
Has to be the worst teacher I have ever had. He tells you what to study, you study that, and then you fail. I studied 5 hours for one test and ended up getting a 41. I dropped out. The class is a waste of time. I didn't learn anything. He talks about a bunch of technology crap and totally neglects the topic that the class is on.

Doesn't know anything outside of ITM or Honors. GRADES UNFAIRLY. Took off points for things he never mentioned were requirements nor wrote in the instructions. I was the last student to present a project in my class, & apparently made the same mistake as every other student b/c HE NEVER CORRECTED ANYONE. I only found out when he gave me the grade.

Worst professor I've ever had. The homework takes 10 hours to do and still doesn't help. He doesn't teach to the test. His classes do not help at all. He doesn't even know how to use excel right. The test averages are always in the 50s. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER

Papp is undoubtedly the worst professor I've ever had through my junior year of college. He simply doesn't teach, during test reviews he only confused the class more due to errors in his calculations. HW takes forever and is online. Tests are online and you take 4 of them, 5 if u take the optional final. He messes up grades consistently. Irritable
The lectures of the class were hard to follow, I did well in the class by teaching myself through the examples on the online homework. He is very stuck in his ways and thinks that he knows everything, ended up doing the class some favors by removing quiz grades and allowing the homework's to be worth more of your grade.
Terrible in the beginning of the semester but got easier as time passed, probably because he realized he was being too hard on us. I basically taught myself everything. He didn't teach to the HWs or tests so class was pretty pointless. He would spend an hour doing one problem! He helped by removing the difficult online quizzes which I appreciated!
He does not teach the course, he simply reads off of the powerpoints and draws questions directly from Mystatlab. If you are good with uniformity like this, he may be an acceptable professor for you, but if you need a TEACHER, than he is not the professor for you. Taking this class in person is like taking an online course with no help.
When I found out I had Dr. Papp I was pretty upset, but I would recommend him. His exams are tough but not impossible. If you go to office hours you should be fine, but if you do not have time for that, then I say look for someone else. His exams aren't the hardest thing, but they aren't the easiest. 20 questions, go to class and you will pass.
Great teacher. I did all the HW and went to see him when I was stuck. He worked the problems with me and showed me what I was doing wrong. So far, I have high grades on 3 exams. HW is easy since you can do it as many times as you want and get a 100! If I can do well on the last exam, the final is optional. Go to class, do the HW and you're OK

I don't recommend him. I got an AB in his class, but it was because I had to teach myself from the mystatlab hw. He ignores emails, he's rude and does not actually care about his students. He has no patience and he has yelled at students in my class for asking simple questions. I love statistics, but his attitude ruined the class.
I took Papp for Advanced App Development, and I can confidently say I barely know a thing more about coding than when I started the class. His way of teaching you coding is by reading off a PowerPoint for 4 hours straight and apparently expecting you to just pick it up with no hands-on practice. Luckily I already know how to code.
If you want to learn how to code, do not take Papp. If you want to memorize facts off a PowerPoint for the test then teach yourself how to code for the projects, definitely take him. He literally does not teach you how to code, then expects you to be able to code elaborate projects. They must really have a lack of ITM professors.
Best QMB 210 teacher there is. Take with Raymond Papp and you won't regret it.

Was doing pretty well in stats class all year but his tests are hard. for third exam he said it would be 20 questions & easier than the hw (which is online)but instead he made it 25 questions & same difficulty as HW. DO NOT TAKE HIM his tests are hard the HW takes at least 6 hours, worst teacher ive had at UT
This class was basically do your homework, you will succeed on your tests. Do it online and the tests are on the same online resource, using the same questions as homework problems. Definitely a lot of homework but an easy way to cushion your grade. Definitely not the most interesting class or professor but gotta push thru
This class was one of the best classes I've taken at UT so far. Professor Papp is great and the way the class is set up makes it super easy to do well, if you put the effort in. Tests are based off of the exact questions from the homework, so if you study the homework, you'll do well. Definitely recommend taking him for Stats!
One of the worst professors I have ever had... ever. Make sure to do ALL the homework as this is the only way to cushion your grade. Expect to teach yourself everything because his lectures are just a click through of slides with almost no in class practice at all. The exams are based off the hw so honestly just memorize the hw as best you can.
One word that sums up this professor is horrible. He doesnt Teach. Please stay away at all costs. Excel assigments waste of time.
He's pretty awful. Before COVID when i had him in person, if i attended the lectures i was doing pretty decent, they were SO boring though. Now that it's online, we have no zoom classes and he only records lectures. Doing well on the homework is the only thing that has kept my grade afloat. Pretty unpleasant to talk to also.. makes you feel dumb.
Not sure why he doesnt have a high rating. I was told QMB was going to be a really tough class, but Papp made it so much easier. Ive never done so well in a class before. Just do your homework because theyre exactly like the exams!
If you're taking this class make sure it is IN PERSON and NOT ONLINE. Online lectures are impossible to pay attention to or keep up with. Responds to emails quickly but rarely actually answers your questions. HW is difficult, time consuming and often differs from lectures. Tests are same as HW but usually way more confusing. Consider other options.
Has to be the worst professor I've ever had and that includes my time at community college. I have an A in every other class and usually do well in math yet in his class I found this impossible to maintain. Teacher often tried to poke holes in the severity of covid-19 and frequently brought up G-d in a class that is solely based on numbers. 0/10.
Stats can be a scary class but dr. Papp makes it as easy as possible. One homework per chapter which are the SAME as the exams. He cares and will work with you. Study, know how to do the homework and you will get an A. You have to try but hes a great prof
Amazing professor! Im not good at maths at all, but his class made it very clear for me. You have to do a lot of calculations. All the exams are 15 problems, which you have to solve in 2 hours. All the questions are very similar to homework (just different numbers), which you can practice unlimited times. Lectures are engaging and helpful!!!
Respectful guy but his EXAMS ARE VERY TOUGH seriously. I did my best in all of them the highest grade i got was 70% also the exam is only 2 hours which is not enough time to answer all the questions. The last exam was 100 multiple choices in 2 hours only I barley finished it before time expire. Dont really recommend..
Dr. Papp is a very good professor. His material is very straightforward, homework is exactly the same as the test! If you know how to do the homework, you will be fine on the tests. Homework, tests, and 4 simple excel assignments. The final exam is optional and replaces the lowest test score. Do good on hw, and you'll do fine on tests.
easy class. All the exams are identical to the homework's & he even gives you what question on the homework's that will be on the test. Excel assignments so easy too you have unlimited attempts same with homework. so if you just show up and listen its easy and he follows his own textbook so you barely use the one we get, his was easier to follow
The guy just talks about masks and politics for the entire class. I wish I actually was learning something. He continues to say you must read before class which is fair, but he expects you to have it mastered before you go to class that day. Then he continues to rant. He should consider adding a 10 min break so people dont lose focus so easy.

He is a very difficult professor. The homework is tough but the tests are even tougher. The homework is very similar to the tests but he offers no extra benefits. Tough to learn the material. 60% of your grade is tests, if you don't like tests then I really don't recommend. He also goes off topic and talks about politics pretty much everyday.

Spent 6-10hrs a week on work for class put my maximum effort in and no results. When I meet for office hours its clear he doesnt want me there/tries to get me to leave. Last chapter he never taught rambled on about our econ. Don't expect feedback on your work just a grade. Worst class taken at UT listened to ALL his advice and my GPA will feel it

Do not take. Gets off task in lectures super easy, talks about irrelevant things all class. Basically have to teach yourself everything. Exams are not easy but not super hard, just hard when he doesn't teach. Most boring class I've taken. Doesn't take attendance. Exams are proctored in a class, with lockdown browser.
Tests were just like quizzes but he never taught the material since he gets distracted over the little things in class. Also doesn't shut up about politics, like we get it the economy is bad.

Worst professor I have ever taken at UT. Dont bother showing up to class because he just talks about his life and doesn't talk about anything to do with the course material. Crazy how UT has not caught on to this professor's antiques because I learned absoultey nothing from his class besides what I taught myself.
BY FAR THE WORST professor I have ever dealt with at University of Tampa. Does not care about his students what so ever and and does not teach the content of the class at all. Dont bother showing up to class unless you wanna here hum talk about stories about his life that nobody cares about and have almost nothing to do with the course content.
Worst professor. His lectures are all about his wife, cat, nephew and his own life as firefighter. Unfair grading. Least interested in the subject. Doesn't even read your assignments, exam papers and rate as per his mood.
I suggest not to take his class. Does not teach anything & only talks about his personal life. Unfair grading. He does not grade as per the content written in paper. He grades randomly. Leaves same comment to multiple students while grading which shows that he does not even go through what's written in the exam/assignment. Highly not recommended.
Professor Papp means well, he's a really nice guy. We do get off topic in class a lot which can be frustrating. But if you put the effort in it's not too difficult of a class. The homework and excel assignments you can do unlimited times so there's easy points there. Then the exams are just questions from the homework. So study and you'll do fine.
You can tell he's passionate about his work but he is very condescending. If you ask a question he will likely not even answer you and make you feel stupid. The projects are easy but most of class you have to teach yourself because he goes off topic 95% of the time
Lectures were BORING and long BUT it is easy to get an A if you read his slides and do the homework. All the homework is online and you get multiple attempts. He uses the SAME homework problems for the exam. Study the homework, go to office hours if you need help, and you will do great on the tests. 4 tests and 1 homework assignment per chapter.
Professor Papp is if not one of the worst professors at UT , he goes off topic during class, he talks a lot about politics even though it's statistics. Exams are proctored but it's exactly like the homework. I suggest study really well because you will have to fight for your grade and he doesn't offer extra credit.

I cannot fathom how difficult he made this class, the majority of students would fail his tests all because he was incapable of going through a full lesson without going completely off-topic. Oh, Raymond. This man scares me because he has his Ph.D. It showed all of his students that anything is possible. He lets his wife make the decisions on how to run the class. He's a nice guy but be prepared to learn it independently. Shoutout to our tutors at UT. He loves his cat, and I think I know more about his cat rather than statistics.
As everyone else stated, this man goes off-topic every class. The entirety of this class can be taught by yourself outside of class. You will find that class is not helpful at all, since he fails to help the students understand concepts; he will belittle you. He does not believe in using Excel, yet half of our homework involves Excel.
You can go to class if you want to hear all about his family and if you want to waste your time. Classes are long and boring, the only good thing is the exams are based on the homework. You will have to learn the material yourself if you want to do well, bc he talks about the most random stuff and is super sarcastic in a rude way

Good guy, Horrible professor. Does not teach anything in class, there is no point in even going. Assigns homework and assignments about things he never teaches in class. If you want to rip your hair out for a semester straight, amazing guy to take.
The professor is rude and egotistical. He thinks he knows everything when in reality he teaches basic stats! Spends a lot of time talking about irrelevant things like his family, or politics. He also assigned work due over spring break and a test right when we get back, while he brags about going out of the country for break. Needs to be humbled!
I get why the reviews are bad, but you don't need to show up to class. The HW is the test, and yes his responses to some students could be better, but at the same time the questions asked are also stupid. Also smells like BO and will affect your grade on test because it's distracting. It's not that bad of a class, these people are over exaggerating
I never went to class and taught myself the material. His lectures are slower than snail paced. You can learn everything in half the time and get an A on every exam if you just skip and teach yourself. If you know excel this class is cake.

He is a great prof to take for QMB. He yaps a lot during class about things that have nothing to do with what we are discussing but he gets back on track. Attendance isn't mandatory and the exams are straight from the Pearson HW. The one downside is he smells SO BAD, it can literally get distracting. You walk into the room and the whole thing REEKS

Genuinely I could have not shown up to a single class and still got the same grade I have. Professor Papp goes on and on for two hours about everything but statistics. The pearson homework tells you to use excel to solve the problem but were not allowed excel on exams so that in itself is stupid. This class is ridiculously hard for no reason.

Professor Papp is unlike most professors I have had before, and when reading his reviews, I was nervous about taking the class. He is honestly a very kind, old-school man who wants his students to succeed. Spend hours memorizing the homework and understanding the concepts in the problems, and you will succeed on exams. He curves them a lot.
Earned an AB in this fast-paced, 6-week course. The class was self-directed and required independent learning of all material, reinforcing time management and self-teaching skills. This class was very hard but in the end, worth it.

Believe what everyone else says about him. Talks about nonsense and brings his politics into classes sometimes and doesnt teach the subjects very well. Hw is confusing and will take you hours to do if you can figure it out. He gives the equations for tests but it doesnt help much. Problems you do in class are nothing like hw.
The material was pretty easy but you need to put in the work to receive a good grade. The lectures are very hard to stay focused during due to the professors tendency to go on random tangents about politics and his personal opinions. My biggest complaint is the smell coming from the professor. Its very distracting.
