Very laid back, funny guy. He is always willing to help you understand the material. Says lots of funny explanations for things, and won't drag out a lab lecture if everyone understands it. Relates chemical reactions to "sex and violence". Funny and smart, you can't go wrong with him. I definitely recommend him!
a very helpful professor, likes to get along with students and he also makes that class very easy and understandable

freakn awesome. read my lips: THE BEST CHEM PROFESSOR EVER! awesome guy, awesome sense of humor, great teacher who challenges his students but does his best to make sure they know the material. this guy is everything a chem professor should be. TAKE HIM!
this guy is totally misleading, he tells you every problem that we go over in class will be on the test only a few variations and the test is nothing like he says.
This man is ****. But I would totally recommend him over the other instructors.
If you can get past his weird sense of humor and frequent cussing, he teaches very well.
he is a bad professor. he will misguide u. he teached decent but points u toward the wrong direction. his lab is terrible and his lecture is even worst. dont take him unless u have no other choice.
very good teacher, little strange but good sense of humor, he is very willing to help you if you need it.. you just have to get past his corky humor...i recomend him way more than the others
this dude suxs. he cant teach. even worst, his test are not even a product of what he teaches. DONT TAKE THIS GUY! he is by far the worst of all professors.
Don't listen to what others are saying. I took Dr. Sadeghi for his lab for basic chem, liked him so much I took Gen Chem w/ him. He breaks it down and makes chem "interesting" and has a good sense of humor. Willing to help during office hours. Tells exactly what 2 study for the exams. You DO have to study for chemistry people! I made an A. TAKE HIM
If you are at your wits end about Chemistry take him. This was my second time taking this course after failing it the first time. He is so funny and explains everything in plain terms. I went to his office and he spent hours explaining everything to me. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!! It will be worth your time, trust me!
Don't listen to those that tell u to take his class. He's a great teacher but his tests are f*****g hard. He tells u that if you study the notes and the examples you should make an A but it's not true I worked my a** off and made a B. Some made C's if they were lucky and the rest dropped or failed. Beware, take anyone else!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this class. I have him for basic chemistry since this is my first year. Professor Sadeghi is one of the nicest guys i have ever met. He can really relate to the students. He explains all the problems clearly and step by step and always stops to see if we have any questions. Hes also really funny, he likes to keep us entertained.
I got a "B", and I'm stupid when it comes to Chemistry! Just go to class, study, and do the work. MAKE SURE to go to class because he will have no mercy on you.
This guy is great! His tests are only 20-25 questions. Hes willing to help, and as weird as it is i think hes the easiest chem professor at UTSA.
You can't just memorize his hw problems and expect to do well. If you put in the time and attend the SI sessions, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to do well in this course. Professor Sadeghi is the arguably the greatest but most challenging chem professor there is. Take him if you want to actually learn!
He is a very relaxed teacher. He is funny, and talks to us not as if he was the teacher and we were the students, but more as a friend. His exams were difficult for me and I studied. Read the book, practice, go over the notes, and understand the homework quizzes and you should be fine. If you want a crazy chem class, take his class.
This is a great Calculus teacher. Take him if you can. The class isn't easy but if you do the homework and go to class you should do fine. Also he is very funny.
He is a very outgoing prof. he is a really good teacher. You are always involved in class. He is great!
Great Cal III teacher. His tests are no joke though. Check the grammar of the negative posts. You have to work for an A in his class, but you will actually learn.
Not an easy class by any means, but one of the best professors you're likely to have. You WILL learn in his class - he is fantastic at teaching. Only smart people will get A's, so beware. As an added bonus, going to class is fun as hell. He's always a cut-up, both from his jokes and from setting people and/or things in the lecture hall on fire.
If you are taking Basic Chem you have to take it with Ray. Professor Sadeghi is the best prof I have had in college so far. Chemistry is hard to learn for many people, but he made every concept clear and though he made many jokes, it kept you awake and interested in chemistry. I'm currently taking Gen Chem and having Ray helped me learn so much!
Only given the book to study from. Not tested on the material from the book given much harder questions on homework and test. Spent many hours trying to figure out how to solve homework problems. Only to end up getting most of the answers wrong. Spent more time on this class than my other three classes combined.
The best chemistry teacher I've ever had! Explains the material in a way that's very easy to understand without going too slowly. Really funny and laid-back!! Doesn't mind if you miss class, but you're likely to fall behind. Test questions come from online homework and notes. Textbook unnecessary if you take really good notes.
As a Basic Chem teacher he is amazing. I have heard extremely negative comments about his Chem II class, but as far as Basic Chem goes he obviously loves his job and is a great teacher. If you dont get at least a B in the class you are a slacker.
Great professor. In alot of ways he reminds me of Ray Romano from Everybody loves Raymond. They both share one thing in common, comedy. Hilarious guy and gets you really into the class. I highly recommend taking him for basic chemistry.
the awesomest prof i've had in utsa. a flippin genious when it comes to chem and math. most easy going teacher i've seen espacially for a subject like chem. SUPER DUPER FUNNY. makes the material quiet easy to understand. go to class take his notes do his online quizes n do the practices in the book your bound to get at least a high B if not better.
He can't teach. But he has jokes!
I hate Chemistry II. Whew, this class was HARD! He teaches *very* well, but his exams are killer. For the first test, 80% of the class made a 45 or below, very few made A's and a couple made C's. Tutors and the SI got confused with his homework questions! Take him if for some reason you want a challenge or if you want to bring down your GPA.
Good guy, you can tell he was taking this class himself not too long ago and would like to make it as painless as possible. You will get 20's 30's 40's or 50's on the exams, but you should get at least a C regardless.
Bad handwriting, bad notes, annoying humor. Dishonest, too. I scored well below a D and still passed the class with a D. Sure, I passed - but I did not earn it. Dr. Powell @ UTSA is much better.
Great teacher! Tells you exactly what to review before the test and works numerous examples! He also has a lot of energy and makes class interesting!!
He is a great professor, you NEVER use the textbook!!! He tells you verbatum what will be on the exam. Very sarcastic, which helps lift the mood in a chem class. I truly enjoyed his class.
i like this guy,hes a joker thats for sure! his tests are very tough, but there is a huge curve. an 80 and up is an a.
He is sometimes a person that goes overboard on sarcsm, but as a professor he is really good, I have myself to blame for my grade cause he defenitely tried to help.
Dr. Sadeghi was awesome. You get 2 attempts on WebCT homework, and replacest lowest test with one of your final scores. He lectures very thoroughly, so if you go to class everyday, you should understand the material. Definitely reccommend! Hes probably the easiest chem professor.
this guy is amazing!!!!
This guy is amazing. He is a professor that wants YOU to enjoy the class and get a great grade in it also. He mixes lecture with fun things like constant jokes and fun demonstrations. Considering I had this class at 8 am and still like the guy he is amaaaazzziiing!
I don't like chemistry at all but I DO like his class. All of his tests are on lecture notes so there is virtually no reading, he uses funny and understandable metaphors on the more difficult concepts, and replaces your lowest test grade. He goofs off a lot in class, but don't get fooled because his tests are pretty hard. A good class to take.
Currently have him for calculus III, but I heard he taught chemistry too. GREAT teacher, answers any and all your questions, makes class fun and math understandable. He's extremely intellegent, and unlike some shows interest in his students. Enjoying this class very much.
If you can avoid this professor please do so you will not regret it. He is a genius dont get me wrong but his exams are extremely HARD!!! with no curve or anything I have recieved A's in all my math including college algebra precal,calculus1,2 and im barely pulling a C in this class. He says his exams are like the homeowork but it isnt. STAY AWAY!!
To pass with an B you have to be a genius like if you wrote the book.
Awesome professor. His interest in chemistry shows in his lectures and makes the class sort of fun to attend. He covers everything on the tests beforehand and still curves. There is no homework and attendance is not mandatory BUT if you miss one class you will fall way behind, miss two or more classes and you might as well drop the class.
This professor is the hardest professor I have had. Please do not take calculus III with this professor unless you have too. I would speculate that about 5 people are passing the course right now His exams are extremely difficult I am saving your GPA if you truly listen to me TRUST ME. Having A's on all my other classes except this one.
Interesting professor. makes chemistry fun, but it is still hard. His tests are short. no curve. Show up to his class and office hours and you will pass. I made 40's and 50's on the exams and got a B in the class.
i liked this class very much. i never skipped a day and always took notes. the only problem are the tests. i got 50s and 60s and my highest test grade was a 75. he doesnt curve, but somehow i finished the class with a C. i say take him because he's a very funny guy and makes chemistry comprehensive, but just beware of the tests.
The class is a breeze early on; like 10th grade chem but it quickly ramps up the difficulty later on. GET AN "A" ON THE FIRST EXAM or you will get a low score, the last two exams are VERY difficult and have TONS of trick questions. The final is comprehensive and replaces lowest test score. I attended every class, took notes, etc. Calculator allowed
This professor is really great. A really cool and funny person. you should go to class because sometimes what he taught was not in the book. It is easy to understand what he say, and he is very helpful. Go to class then you will doing great. The test is a little bit tricky. But it's not hard at all. Highly recommend !
Great and fun! Going to his class doesn't waste you time, easy lecture and slightly tricky tests. Not much effort to put in to receive an A.
Quite possibly one of the best professors I've ever had and definitely the best chemistry teacher I've ever had. He makes class fun and if people don't understand a concept, he goes over it again until the students do understand. Very funny. Take him for every chemistry course if you can!!!
Took this professor last fall for calculus 3 his exams are extreamly hard does not curve. In every exam he gives a question that basically he does not go over. You must know the concept in order to answer the question. No memorization
Very helpful and organized. A Funny character who made the class inspired and gave motivation to learn more.He give out homeworks and i ll recomment to work with partners. I enjoyed his class and recommend this teacher to anyone who likes chemistry or dont like it but promise you that you ll be happy to have him your chemistry professor.
He is a really good professor. If you need help you just go to him and he will help you. This is an easy class if you pay attention and ask him for help.
Really funny teacher that knows how to break the ice. Works out all of his problems on the board and explains how he does it. Go to class every time and you will do fine on the exams and homework. Reviews the class before the test which is really useful.
Asking questions is not an option unless you want to be criticized or ignored. You will need to study for the midterm and final as much as possible because it gets crazy at the end and he becomes annoyed with students VERY FAST. I have taken a class with him before and this is a complete 360 attitude change, he just wants to finish, mistakes or not
The exams are so difficult. However, the lab work isn't too bad. I am so glad I managed a B because with the midterm and final grades, I figured I'd have to re-take. It's a long semester but it's manageable.
I took Gen Chem 2, his test, HW, and final are very tough! You have to really study and ask questions if you don't understand. The SI wasn't much help. The only easy part of this class is the labs but the midterm and final are very tough too.
Very hard tests, but the class is not bad. Very important to go to lab lectures.
Can come off as a sarcastic and mean sometimes, but explained things very clearly and was extremely blunt. Always offered to answer questions, but don't ask any stupid ones. Be sure to go to lecture and work out the problems given, ask questions when you need to, and you'll be fine. Also...good sense of humor. And cool accent.
He has a funny but weird sence of hummor. Go to class and take good notes and use them to study!! His midterm and final are extreemely difficult, study your lab reports and notes!! He jokes alot so he makes class fun. Also know how to draw all the lab equiptment that you used during the semester, may be on tests.
He's really rude for no reason. Makes fun of people a lot. He's a good teacher, but loves to embarass students in front of class. Be ready to be embarassed if you take his class!
Taking him now for Gen Chem 2. Good prof, not easy, but its pretty slim pickings for the UTSA science dept, and for Chem, he is prob one of the best. His exams come mostly from notes, although he does post practice problems from the book, I never do them. The grading scale is pretty easy. If you get a 70 thats a B. Attendance is. I recommend him
This professor is amazing. I never quite understood chemistry until i took his class. Very funny and always willing to go over anything you do not understand. Test are a little difficult but as long as you attend each class and study the notes, you will be fine. Not to mention, it's almost impossible to fail with his grading scale.
Class is O.K. But than again Chemistry isn't easy. I think there's easier ways to teach some of the stuff we went over but than again I'm not the professor. Going to class is a must, if not you'll be completely lost.
Fantastic professor. I only had him for lab-lec but I learned more than I did in class with another professor. He teaches the material fully and makes his tests difficult to match. With him you'll gain a great foundation in chemistry which can help in later chemistry classes. He's also making jokes in class alot :) . Take him at all costs.
cusses a lot and tests are not always covered in lecture
This teacher is amazing! He is hilarious and makes class fun. He is very good at using analogies to relate his material to your every day life in order to make it easier to understand. I wish I could take him for every class. Yes he cusses a lot, but it is part of his charm. I think he is an awesome teacher!
I had him for lab lecture and thought he was a fun teacher. He's a little rough around the edges but makes up for it with humor. The downside is that he's really hard, and his midterms for the lab are significantly harder than tests in the actual chem 2 class.
Great professor. May make you cry. He is challenging. But you will learn you chemistry well. Don't sneeze or raise your hand in class unless you want to be called on and made fun of. I didn't use the textbook at all in this class. Study, coming to class is mandatory, and do you hw and you should be ok. Very entertaining class. You will be laughing and learning at the same time.
Best professor ever, he is very smart , highly active and very funny, yes, sometimes he makes fun of people, and he gave this crazy and weird examples, but I always left with a smile+ jock from his class, be ready to work hard, don?t give up, and you will be ok.
He is a man of his word! If you do your part, he'll do what he can to help you.
Dr.Sadeghi is amazing!! He explains everything very well... Tests could be a little tricky but if you study there's no way you can fail his class!!!
Best chem teacher at UTSA. Not only are his classes very concise, they are also entertaining. He will make you actually enjoy coming to class. He reviews previous class material every day, gives semi-easy quizzes, and hold test review sessions on saturday or sunday for every test. Its a hard class, with difficult material though.
Dr Sadeghi is amazing, he makes class very enjoyable and you will actually laugh during class, he compares chemistry with things that you see everyday, if you dnt understand something YOU WILL. I loved that he offered to do our review sections on sat and sun. Little advice make sure to go to class since he knows who is who even for a big class
Best professor I've had at UTSA. You have to work hard, but you WILL LEARN. I am so glad I took this class with Dr. S.
This id the best teacher I've had! He keeps you entertained as wellas engaged in what you do. You must got to class because he covers everything in his notes which are extremely helpful. He has a tendency to pick on people but nothing to extreme. Love this teacher! most definitely recommend!
Labs very easy, midterm and final very difficult, midterm average was in the 20's... gives great notes and knows how to teach extremely well and I think he knows it because consequently, his tests are tough, good sense of humor, taking him is unavoidable if you are a science major needing chem II lab
Very easy class, as long as you attend and stay awake. He gives realistic examples, and relates concepts to things that students would easily understand. He class people out, especially bigger people. He's a good guy and is always willing to explain what you don't understand. Definitely a professor's class that I would sign up for again.
Oh, Sadeghi... For one, if you're taking this class, BE PREPARED to work HARD! Nothing is handed to you. If you stay on top of your stuff and know what is going on in class, it is manageable. You should probably always go to class as he is one of those prof. who knows who is who and who has been attending. It could just help you out at the end...
I took him for basic chem, and it was pretty easy, as long as you attend and pay attention to class. He likes to call people out though, so be careful. Our final was at 7:30, I thought it was at 10:30, so I showed up three hours late and he still let me take it. He's a great teacher, and very thorough on explanations. I'd take the class again.
He's funny and entertaining. Explains things over and over until students understand. Likes to call people out but it's what makes the class more enjoyable. Class was pretty easy if you attend and take good notes. Don't buy book, you wont use it. All tests comes from lecture notes. Take him!
This lab is not hard until u reach the midterm and final. They have extremely strange quest u couldnt find the ans anywhere!!anw good luck u have no other choice except this prof.A is hard to reach but im sure B is easy
The lab itself wasn't difficult, nor the work accompanied with it. It was just the midterm and the final that were brutal. He's pretty helpful if you ask the right question or don't make him repeat himself. Funny too. Just be prepared to study hard for the midterm and final.
He is SUPER funny, very clear and understandable. It is chemistry so its hard but an A isn't unattainable... work hard and you might do well, just worry about test performance.
Sadeghi was hands down my favorite professor this semester. He moves at a pace that is easy to keep up with. He's hilarious too, he has no problem calling someone out, but not rudely. He jokes around and manages to keep one of my least favorite subjects interesting. He's very clear about what will be on the tests. I managed an A+!
Awesome teacher, take him. his class is easy if you attend his class. tests come straight from the notes. he is funny and his class is not boring.
He is okay. I wish his lectures were more organized, especially his notes. Once in a while i couldn't help but feel lost.Easy class if you stay on top of your notes and practice the homework often. He can be pretty cool at times.
His notes are very clear and helpful. Exams are difficult so invest a lot of time and study. He is friendly and has a great sense of humor.
Cool guy. Come to class, take good notes(he doesnt post them), study your notes and the homework for the tests and you are guaranteed an A in the class. The thing about most science classes is that you have to review the material daily. Trying to cram the material a couple of days prior to the exam is the best way to set your self up for failure.
Awesome professor really makes chemistry interesting for me. Was always funny, and wasn't afraid to call on people. I don't like chemistry, but he made it possible for me to understand, and learn.
Ray is a really good teacher. He made chemistry understandable and easy to learn. He also is very funny so the class was interesting. Only thing is, attendance is mandatory because since he doesn't use a book you need to take notes and let him give you examples because it will help you on the test
one of the best teachers i have so far! He is very clear and easy to follow. Study his class notes, and you should be okay. Try not to miss a class because his lectures really do help a lot on the exams. He always reviews and does a lot of practice problems in class.
I took him for Basic Chemistry and it was way harder than anticipated. His homework was always easier than tests and caused me to miss a lot of questions. He went over the general rules but he missed some details that were very important for the tests. If I can, I will avoid taking him again.
Chemistry is and always has been tough for me, but with good effort I managed to pass this class and the lab with a decent grade. Fair online homework, helpful practice problems, good guy, 4 hard tests + final if you don't study. Stressful semester, but if I can pass you can too, put in effort from beginning!
His lectures were really clear and his homework was pretty easy. The bad thing is that he likes putting trick questions on the test. But if you actually study the notes and look over your hw, you'll do fine on the tests. Plus, his curve helps. Overall, loved his class!
Professor Sadeghi is very knowledgeable about the subject. He clearly explains everything, even the difficult topics. His tests are quite tricky. If you go to class and work the hw, you could easily make a 70 something. To get that 'A' you need to read the textbook carefully and do a bunch of extra problems. Studied a boatload but was worth it.
Professor Sadegui is a good guy; wouldn't mind drinking a beer or lighting up to Pink Floyd and discussing quantum physics. Those things aside, his class is extremely difficult. His tests always contain off the wall questions or are otherwise unlike what is covered in the class/hmwk. Does not curve! Though a 63 avg will get you a C in his scale.
This class is no joke but I promise he is the best professor you will ever take. When I think of Sadeghi I think of college. He is the first real professor I've had at UTSA. This does not mean in any shape/ way/ form to slack because you will get smoked. Fwiw you will remember him for the rest of your life. Sadeghi is big-time.
If you want to understand Chemistry, take Sadeghi. He brings humor to the table & it really helps when working out problems. His tests are pretty simple if you do the review. He is VERY helpful & is a generous grader. With that said, do not slack off. Chemistry is not easy to begin with, but he makes it bearable. Loved his class!
Very cool professor that enjoys making chemistry humorous. Test are hard and tricky. No curves, but his grading scale is altered. Final is ACS. He makes you understand chemistry very well but throws hard questions for his tests.
I highly recommend this guy. Made chemistry interesting! Makes class fun and understandable for students. Tests were tricky but he curves the overall average at the end, which should help you out. Take Sadeghi if you want to understand chem 2 and enjoy it too.
Stand up comedy with a side of chemistry
He is an awesome professor! Keeps the class interesting and doesn't mind explaining things again if you have questions. I have always struggled with Chemistry and math, but his class has helped me a lot. I will absolutely be taking him again.
This guy is a great teacher, by far the best I have this year. He makes lectures interesting and humorous, but he expects work. He doesn't beat around the bush and is a no nonsense kind of guy. Participation is a must because he avoids the textbook, but overall a good professor. I would definitely take him again.
Best professor I've had here at UTSA. I have never been very good at chem at all, but I passed his class with an A. He's tough, but if you listen to his lectures and pay attention to the notes, you'll do well. No need for the book.
Mr. Sadeghi is hilarious, and may even come off as harsh because he' s so out there with his humor, but when it comes down to it, he's always willing to help and answer questions. Going to class is imperative to get a good grade, but he makes it interesting. I had to miss a class once, and I was lost for a bit. He's also a little cutie, :).
You have to go to class to pass, but most people do because he's funny. The tests can be hard but he gives practice assignments so it's not to bad. The final was much easier than the rest of the tests.
3 tests and a final. The first 3 tests are purposely very tricky, but the final isn't too bad. He doesn't curve, but he does factor in attendance as 10% of your grade, so I ended up with a B+ Anyway, take his lectures and your sides will be aching by the end of class. A phenomenal chemistry explainer--much more than a teacher, and has my respect.
Don't take lab with this guy. A is near impossible. Out of 330+ students, roughly 7 people got an A or A-. His midterm and final exam is very unreasonable and he will not cover some of the questions on the test and it will not be mentioned in the lab manual either. Final avg was 29. Very unreasonable grader. Take the lab at the community college.
This lab is designed so that students cannot make an A. The midterm and final exams are written. They are deceiving-- even if you studied the material from lecture, you'd still have enough curveball questions that weren't covered (about 8 points each), preventing you from getting an A or B. He is no help in office hours, only stares and laughs.
I loved the way he lectured, but be prepared to take LOTS of notes. Those are honestly your best resource. He posts past tests prior to the test, but these don't usually help to prepare you for the actual test. Tough tests, but works with you.
Dr. Sadeghi is awesome! Make sure to take good notes. If you think the practice exams are a breeze & you think you got it, YOU'RE WRONG! go back and practice more! His tests are not tricky, they're designed to make you think. He's hilarious also!! You won't want to miss his class! :D
one of the coolest profs ive ever had, very funny. DONT UNDERESTIMATE HIS WORK!!! every time i took one of his tests & thought i was going to pass with flying colors i was WRONG!!! STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!! hes very good at giving notes & if you dont understand, just ask, hes more than willing to help you understand.
Great Prof, yes he is hard but this is college and at this level nothing is easy without study. If you are in class regularly doing your part then he is very fair with you. Study, do homework, make an effort and show up to class-its that simple. Don't take his class if you don't are just looking for credit and like to skip a lot, you will fail.
Dr. Sadeghi is a very knowledgable professor. He expects all his students to work hard and start reading the textbook before even coming to the lecture. Make sure you go to his office hours if you don't understand something because he will explain it to you. Do all the practice problems in the textbook and rewrite notes that you take in class.
You better get ready to work really hard! On the bright side, you will learn something.
Dr. Sadeghi gives very clear and good lectures that make you feel like you know it all like the back of your hand. When it comes to the tests, they are tough. The best way to study for his tests are directly off his lecture notes. However, the final is a standardized test not written by Sadeghi so it's best to still read along with the book.
Dr. Sadeghi's amalgamation of humor and intelligence made me grasp the important concepts related to general chemistry laboratory. His interesting but difficult exam questions allowed me to search the depths of my brain to arrive at a coherent, reasonable answer. Most of the times, my answers were wrong, but I'm thankful that I was challenged!
This professor was very practical and aware that he was teaching a science lab class to teachers, so he made it nice and basic. He did not give us too much work, and was very reasonable. Science has been really hard for me in the past and he made it possible for me to do well. He even let us take the final and finish the class a week early.
Sadeghi makes you work for your grade. I went to every lecture, did all the homework, and still ended up with a C. This class was HARD. I made A's in basic chem and gen chem 1, but Sadeghi's test questions are 10x harder than his lecture examples. The curve is astronomical since alot of people fail, a 40 on a test is a C. Good luck.
His lectures are very clear and I actually learned something in his class. His tests are pretty difficult though. Most people did poorly but he curves them greatly. If you take him you have to work hard. Don't miss class or you will get behind. Try to take the hour and a half class. You'll be short on time during tests if you take mwf class.
This is probably the hardest you will ever work for a B in a lab EVER. Dr. Sadeghi is a great professor. He really knows his stuff and does a good job at explaining it; however, the lab reports are very time consuming and the tests are probably the hardest tests you will ever take, and they are free response. Just be ready to put 100% effort.
Dr. Sadeghi is a solid lecturer. He explains the material clearly and gives plenty of examples that will help you grasp the concepts. Easy HWs, but tests are VERY difficult. Questions require an absolute mastery of the material to get an A on them. He's funny, but talking to him after class can be frustrating as he tends to be short w/ students.
This class was extremely difficult. The tests were nearly impossible. People would do so awful he would add insane curves. 30's on tests would be passing and I believe a 50 something in the class gets you a C. Don't let your bad grades in this class discourage you, he'll curve it. Study as much as you can and best of luck.
The dude is a good teacher but i found myself going back a lot and re-teaching myself stuff. He goes through stuff really fast, but does explain it concisely. Dont skip. Tests are near impossible (heavy curve tho) so you'll have to study a week in advance. He is one of the better chem teachers, sadeghi is definitely your best bet.
He doesn't take attendance but all of his notes are written on a piece of paper during lecture so skipping class will put you far behind because there is no powerpoint posted online. I made failing grades on all my test but they were considered C's. He puts old exams online to get a sense of his testing style.
Professor Sadeghi is a hard professor. All of his notes are handwritten, he does not use powerpoints. His tests are tricky and you have to know the concepts down to the bone to pass basically. However, he is a good professor and I would take him because he is the only teacher teaching CHE 1113, so I would have an idea of what he is like beforehand.
I did not like Sadhegi by the end of the semester. My test grades did not reflect what I learned. The first test I got around 50%, which he said was better than most. However, he said "I memorize too much." So I became complacent, attempting to learn concepts only, but I got a 20 on the next test. What is the secret then, Sadhegi? Having a masters?
Dr. Sadeghi is amazing! If you go to his lectures, you will understand everything about chemistry. He is very smart and his examples are very simple and straight to the point! I would definitely recommend him!
My entire college experience till now I have gotten straight A's till this class. He doesn't give you study guides for the tests & doesn't use blackboard at all to post your grades so that you can be aware of how you are doing in class. I asked about a study guide &he said "Oh just go over your labs." The tests had vocabulary words we didn't know.
Sadeghi is really cool and approachable but for his lab class, he is extremely difficult for no reason. Seriously, he'll be the first to tell everyone, "no one will pass the exams." I studied very hard for both, did all of my reports and failed both exams. He does not like giving A's but he does curve; just not that much. Avg exam grades 40
Professor Sadeghi is a good teacher however he makes his class way too hard for no reason. His exams are crazy hard and almost impossible to pass.
Explains a everything in the most simplest form.
Dr. So is a good lecturer. He makes the material easy to understand. However, this class is not easy. You will have to work hard for your grade. Do the homeworks before the exams and study the review questions within the textbook and you will do good on his tests. His grading scale is a bit odd, he considers 81-100 an A and 60-80 a B.
Hilarious and great teacher. Exams are tough, you really need to show up to class and take notes. However, it is curved so C's and B's are easy to get, A's are tough though. Read exam Q's carefully because they're worded to trick you - mostly conceptual Q's and some calculations, but you'll learn so much in this class it's worth it 100%.
Honestly this class is HORRIBLE. I recommend to NOT TAKE HIM. You study and study but the max highest grade you can get on exams are literally 40's. He screws with you and makes the class impossible for you to do well in.
He's a good professor for AIS, this class is very easy but if you say something that he doesn't believe in he will try his best to prove you wrong (annoying). He makes a lot of inappropriate jokes that aren't very funny. It's easy to make an A in this class if you show up. It's up to you whether or not you want to deal with him.(do it for the A)
It's widely known that Sadeghi is the nightmare of all pre-meds, but I am here to bust that myth. On the last final he gave us the first 40 points, that's an automatic B! Don't be daunted by the low number, he gives generous curves. The class is far from impossible, in fact if you thoroughly understand the labs you have a chance of making an A!
Most people werent sure if they were going to pass the entire semester because his exam averages are terrifying, but if you take him, youll actually learn a lot. His lectures are easy to understand, but you wont do well unless you practice the problems enough times that they look easy so when he switches it up youll catch it
He was a really good professor and very nice, I would definitely take him again. Although he grades our exams very hard he always tells use what the majority of the exam would look like, most times even word for word. You for sure will have to do several practice problems but it's manageable.
Professor Sadeghi was an amazing professor. His class is not impossible and his final is not impossible to pass. He gives you half the exam and tells you what to practice/study. He helps a lot when it comes to doing the labs. He helps you a lot and getting an A in this class is not impossible. I learned more from him then my professor right now.
What can I say, the only thing this class will efficiently teach you is how to take the "L" in life. His grading scale is totally flawed and totally unfair. Inaccessible outside class, and disencouraging. Will test you over concepts only taught in upper division that he himself doesn't cover. No amount of words can describe this horrible being.
Professor Sadeghi is a great professor when it comes to his lectures. He tries to explain the concept as best as he can and "dumbs it down" for students. His tests are EXTREMELY hard and he does that on purpose. His grading scale is curved so it is easy to make a C in this class but nearly impossible to make an A (he states that himself).
Bro, don't let this rating fool you. The test are hard, so study everything basically. If you're not in his class lecture, then you will miss out on things that are important for the lab. Have fun studying.
Dr. Sadeghis lecture is a rollercoaster of emotions. The whole semester youll question whether or not youll pass since test averages are below 50 (theyre very tricky). But at the end of the semester if you do all LS, youll get a pretty decent grade. Hes great at teaching and really simplifies concepts. Bt you need to practice lots of questions
His test are extremely difficult and it tests you over things that you dont know. Its more of a test where you have to imply the correct answers, thankfully it was multiple choice. I would not recommend him if youre trying to gain some knowledge from the class, I left there as clueless as when we started. One thing I can say is that he curved!
very very funny. curves tests but tests are very very very hard and you have to take diligent notes and pay attention at all times
Sadeghi is a super funny professor who likes to crack jokes that are almost offensive, but it's all in good humor. He is a very tough grader, class average was about 30-50 on the four tests we took. However, you learn a lot and if you can work for a good grade then you will get it.
I learned a lot from Dr. Sadeghis lectures, but his class was not the best. You have to write verbatim what he writes due to the amount of information he throws out. Tests were tricky...40-50 was the avg on each exam. Also, I felt that he did not prepare us for the ACS exam... I only did well because I used outside resources.
Dr. Sadeghi's class is really challenging, you have to work hard and teach yourself concepts. His lectures are really fast paced. You have to attend class to pass. Make sure you do the hw bc you get ec. I wouldn't take him again but he does make you a better student. Test grades average between 30-50s. Do well on the ACS and you can save your grade
Teacher is good, tests are hard and I have early onset arthritis thanks to the amount of notes I had to take each lecture. Overall brain is satisfied , but wrists are one lecture away from carpal tunnel syndrome
Sadeghis lecture notes are so overwhelming that you are focusing too much on what to write rather than actually learn what hes teaching. If you ask a question in class he will just embarrass you for not understanding the topic.
I had him for AIS, not chem. He was so hard to follow. All tests are free responses, not multiple choice. He interrupts you during your presentations and does not give a clear picture of what he wants.
So, one thing about Sadeghi is that he is a great lecturer, if he was talking to a BRICK. Also, he is never in his office, and if he is, he definitely is no help at all. He will call you dumb indirectly. I asked him about the ACS exam and he told me to mail a letter to get help. Not even email. Dont even think about asking a question in class.....
I took him for AIS and he's really hilarious but at the same time he might come off as slightly condescending. All you have to do is show up, take notes on everything he writes and says then you should be fine for the tests. All the group projects weren't for a grade until the final one. Good Luck!
Makes you take pages of notes in one class. And it's hard to study all of those notes for an exam. Exams are hard, but he curves them. I feel like he doesn't prepare you well for the final exam. Moreover, homework is only 10% of the grade, but you get full credit if you get at least a 70. He's the only good chem 2 prof, so good luck!
The information covered in class is thorough, well covered, and repeated several times. The issue arises when you assume that's the material that's on a test. No matter how hard you try for this class you Will BE DISAPPOINTED. That being said, it is still possible to get an A- if you ignore all other responsibilities and dedicate your life to CHE.
Taught at a basic level them gave exams at a much higher standard. Even with practice questions and exams his exams cant be studied for. Impossible to get an A.
You won't know your grade in the class until the end of the semester. His tests are extremely difficult and he has an odd grading scale. My test averages were 55-60 and I ended with a B due to the curving. His lectures weren't very engaging and only did hand-written notes. The difficulty prepares you for future chem classes but that's about it.
This lab was pretty difficult. 50% lab reports, 20% midterm, 30% final, all difficult free-response questions. You won't know your grade until the end as well (major curving). If you're not strong in chemistry, be warned that he does make fun of some student's wrong answers on exams. Also, not very helpful when asked for further explanations.
this class is hard. dr. sadeghi is a good teacher and he teaches in a way that is very clear to understand. but when it comes to the tests they are 2 times as hard as the way he teaches in class. this class will push you and then make you feel like all of your hard work was pointless because the tests seem like they are designed for you to fail.
this lab was very difficult. the mid term and final exam were HARD tests. if you have to take chem lab its kind of unavoidable so just push through the pain! i recommend taking the lab in the summer after you take gen chem II
all the things people say are true!! this class is not easy in any way. Do not take it in the summer, it goes way too fast. TESTS ARE HARD.
Lab lecture for Gen Chem 2 is really helpful and Sadeghi is a good teacher but he grades really really hard. The midterm and the final were very hard. He doesnt believe in A's so your lab grades are going to be in the 70-80 range . He writes out his whole lecture on the board and is really redundant but he gets the point across.
Took him for both chem 2 lab lecture and chem 2 lecture. For lab, even if you do all of them to completion and fairly well, you'll at most get a 70. For lecture, no power-point, he hand writes his notes on a projector so they're easy to follow along. But exams are hard! Class averages are 40s. You need to do a lot of outside studying, like A LOT.
He has the most miserable way of grading. Yes, he curves grades at the end, since he's overcritical to begin with, but no one knows how! You'll be in the dark the whole semester. There's no "rewarding feeling" in learning & working hard just to have bad grades shoved in your face, whether they'll be curved or not. Worst way to conduct a class.
Claims he wants us to learn BUT when you ask him a question, he thinks you should already know the answer. very condescending. Grading system is a joke. Take at community college if poss. No reason to get a B- when there are so many other opportunities to get an A elsewhere.
Worst. Ever. I swear-STEM has always been my forte and I have always excelled in it, no mistake. Then I got to Sadeghi's and realizedall my hardwork in the past and this whole semester ultimately meant nothing, especially from his stupid lab and how they grade. This person.. made me develop an intense hatred for chemistry when it used to be my fave
This man wants to take points off FOR NOTHING. Asked what the pH of WATER was and I got points off a whole page of lab work for putting "7" LIKE EXCUSE ME MY LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE. This lab made me realize one thing: hard work doesn't matter unless you're naturally smart or had an amazing prof. like Davidson who actually kept his class ahead of lab
This professor was rated well by students who are conditioned to be ok with investing 1393892+ hours a week to chemistry/lab and still making a C/B. Sadeghi genuinely doesn't deserve to be a professor like YA hes smart. We get it u know a lot but honestly what did I learn from u besides that u make me want to throw myself off a building
Didn't even lighten up on grading during a PANDEMIC. Like bro im over here worrying if my family is going to survive and ur out here GRADING EVEN HARDER than before the fricking pandemic. I hope this man loses his title as a professor bc he only serves to mess up peoples GPAs and make them depressed.
He is a good professor but what he teaches is difficult. Work hard and you'll get the grade you deserve. He is one of the few professors that actually cares so reach out and you'll be good.
A lot of people might say Dr. Sadeghi doesn't care or doesn't give the grades that students deserve. During the pandemic, he provided as many resources as he could, but like many professors, struggled to effectively teach and help EVERY student understand. He still provided lots of notes and zoom meetings. Tough grader, but he really does care.
This professor was rated well by students who are conditioned to be okay with investing the appropriate amount of time to chemistry. Chemistry is NOT an easy subject, but Dr. Sadeghi provides as much information as he can to help students learn instead of just memorizing and not actually understanding. Willing to put in work? You'll be fine.
Tbh I did horribly in this class, but I blame myself for not using the available resources to learn outside the classroom, I strongly believe they should mandatory in attendance. Hes a great professor for such a hard subject and online learning made it worst. I would take his class if offered again. Hw was cake compared to test. He curves grades.
I couldn't be more happy to be out of Sadeghi's class. Took him for Gen Chem 2 lecture and lab. You will be failing all semester long and then magically pass at the end (and probably know nothing about gen chem 2). He doesn't take attendance but there were times where I took 8 pages of notes.. aka attendance is required. Also always goes past time.
A man of unconventional philosophy compared to other professors. Intelligent but can embarrass you in class for trying to answer a question. Really tough tests and grades even harder.
Lectures are very material heavy, but usually pretty specific, so be prepared before class begins. He's funny and makes analogies that make it easier to remember different concepts in the materials. Exams are very difficult, but as long as you pay attention and study outside of class you'll be sure to do well in the course all together.
He is alright as a professor, and he is also the only choice that you have. His lectures are straightforward, but he is a TOUGH grader, so beware. Most students can fail all of the exams and still pass, since he curves everything at the end. His labs are tedious and sometimes confusing, but if you're lucky, you will get a helpful lab TA. Good luck!
LECTURE HEAVY! Makes the material seem not too bad and then BAM! MONSTROUS EXAMS! You will most likely average between a 40-60 on his exams. He gives out curves like NOBODY'S BUSINESS, you can fail all semester long and you will end up with a B. I got a 20 on the final (as did most of the class) and still got a B. You'll be fine if you just try.
He's a brilliant but arrogant professor. Teaches the material very fast, but well. Take notes, because they'll be helpful in the labs. Straight to the point, which is very convenient. He's very helpful in his office hours, so avoid him after class when he won't help as much. Exams are really tough, but he considers effort into your grade.
If you can find any where else to take gen chem 2 lab, do it somewhere else. Lacks coherent teaching skills and throws in questions not even he knows how to fully answer. Unless you suck up to him to the max degree, you'll get your A. Average student got a B-.
Professor Sadeghi is so nice! Im in his online summer classes for gen chem 2 & the lab and its pretty challenging & he gave an extension when he didnt have to! Hes very understanding and cares about his students!
Professor Sadeghi is amazing!! I took him during Summer 2020 for Gen Chem II Lecture and Lab. He makes sure you understand the material fully. Even though it was a summer course, he was really patient, explained well, gave extra time, pushed deadlines several times, had one-on-one meetings for those with issues understanding. HE IS A GEM. TAKE HIM!
He will ask for whoever made the highest grade in a lab class and "regrade" their paper, and then dock everyone in the lab by the same amount. I got a 94 on exp 4, later changed to a 70 for no apparent reason. He did this regularly at his own whims. He makes sure everyone passes with a C but doesn't give As on principle. Avoid at all costs.
I took Dr. Sadeghi's class as an online, summer course (hello, COVID). I don't go to UTSA, and was worried about the large class size, but he was incredible! Managed the whole situation with humor and was *so* incredibly accommodating. Reviews assignments w/ you, responds quickly to emails. If you need help help, just ask!
Professor Sadeghi grades labs so hard and takes off so many points for the smallest errors. When asked to explain his answers are very vague. Would not recommend him for lab if you want to make an A.
Gen chem 2 lab is a tough class but professor Sadeghi tries his best to explain the concept well. Attend the lab lectures and definitely read his notes he provide because they are very useful. He is also available after class and is always ready to lend you his time. Lastly, he was very flexible and understanding on the due dates.
Very understanding to students and is always available for help. His notes are detailed enough to help with the lab reports. Honestly, one of the best professors I've had during this pandemic. If you take him this upcoming fall (online), you'll do great.
Dr. Sadeghi is a solid teacher, and I'm not sure why people would leave negative reviews of him or badmouth him. The subjects he teaches are Chemistry, so it's not an exceptionally easy topic to grasp, however Dr. Sadeghi interjects some humor and every day life examples in his teachings. He is more than a fair grader, and even linnet.
If you're hesitating on whether you want to take this class because of all the comments about how rude and arrogant Prof. Sadeghi is I advise you to zone out those reviews. Prof. Sadeghi is a hard grader but he is a very caring instructor. He understands that problems occur in life and will not think twice to help you as much as he can.
Not a helpful professor in my experience. Dodges questions. No clear mathematical "curve" at the end, assigns grades based off of "how much effort you put in", his words not mine. All around horrible experience. Take a community college course.
Got a B- in the lab. He is a very hard grader. Did not teach everything that showed up on the labs, so you had to figure out a lot for yourself. He was always available to meet, but was not helpful when you asked him questions about a lab and was always rude.
It was a horrible class I ever took . I was so sad about anything that he gave me such a tough teacher ever in my life
He was a good professor in that he was walked the class through the material in a clear way, made it a point to prepare students for upcoming assignments so that there are no surprises. I think he graded on the level of effort that you put into the class. I did bad on the exams, but I would do the homework and stayed active in the class & got a B
So Professor Sadeghi is the only professor that runs the gen chem 2 labs at UTSA, therefore, you're stuck with him for lab. He is so awful, the labs are so hard, and I only got an A- because he took a liking to me and wanted to help me and literally did the labs with me. Just be wary of him.
Labs are terrible, He was assigning labs over things we had not covered in the class yet. Huge ego, treats you like you are stupid. I went to his office hours constantly and did all the homework and learn smarts (Which are extra credit), failed every test (got 50s and 44 in the final). Overall terrible experience but there's not much else to choose
Great lecturer, terrible person. He could be great if he knew how to talk to students without becoming irritated because we're not chemistry experts after one of his lectures. This class sets students up for failure and will ruin your GPA. Take another professor.
Everyone likes to hate on him but he really cares for his students if they give him the respect he gives them, and if they put in the effort. He's a tough grader though so you may not see a high grade initially but there's usually a nice curve so don't be scared if you think you made a bad grade. If you put in the effort you'll be more than fine!!!
His lectures are very good. He does a good job explaining difficult concepts. The only thing is he teaches at a slow pace. And you will have ALEKS hw due before he has even finished the chapter. This has happened a few times and it is a nightmare trying to teach yourself acids and bases from what Aleks gives to him going over that very thing later.
He teaches very simple lectures that don't translate to the lab reports where even if you try your hardest he will still give only 3 out of those 20 points back to you. If he didn't agree with a TA 's grade he purposely regraded it and gave a much lower grade. No matter how hard you try, he discourages you to even continue on.
Professor Sadeghi gets a lot of hate but if you actually put in the effort and visit him during office hours he will be SO helpful. He also keeps that in mind and has been known to award extra credit just based of effort alone. He's one of the funniest professors I've ever had, but he wont baby you so you need to be prepared to work hard.
Good, slow lecturer, and the lab lectures don't help with the post lab questions at all or any exam questions given. Takes off way too many points for questions and takes off points when asking for feedback. Takes a long time to go over one example or two examples on the same topic in the 45 minutes.
I enjoyed taking this professor, and I would definitely recommend anyone to take him too. The TA I had graded very hard on the lab assignments, but the lab assignments are not what will hurt your grade; it's the midterm/final. As long as you talk to the professor, he is willing to work with you and help you succeed.
If you have any other choices, I would suggest you take them instead of this professor. He makes the topic seem simple during the lab lecture but the actual lab hw is much harder and very long. The TA's are helpful but takes really long to grade the assignments and tend to take off a lot of points for very minute things.
Oversimplified lectures while lab reports ask for details that won't be covered until lecture 3 weeks later. Professor berates u for asking questions. Most people recommending him are those that barely passed so if ur premed or in a competitive field take their reviews with a grain of salt. Simply doesn't teach and seems to enjoy taking points off.
I mean he's funny, but not the greatest professor in my opinion. Felt like I didn't learn a lot through lectures when it came down to doing the homework from labs. He's really funny though, and fairly nice. There is a really nice curve, that helps out a lot. Without it, I would have failed.
I was worried about taking this professor because I had only heard bad reviews, but it was not too bad once the class started. If you are present and get involved with the lectures, you'll be just fine. If you ask, he will help. His teaching style is a little weird, but it is not too bad. You will have to somewhat teach yourself. Don't slack off.
Great lecture
If you do not do ALEKS you're screwed. GO TO CLASS. He takes so many notes, he does not do powerpoints. Some of the tests were very hard. You cannot cram for this class. Only positive thing I can really say is that he is funny. I would pick a different proffessor because I have heard others are better.
An average professor his course is set on his lectures and that's about it but during his office hours he is very disorganized and not much help and on test be aware he will pause for small mistakes he made on questions. He does accommodate to class preparedness on exam and you will need a iclicker for participation grade, Aleks, and textbook money
Do NOT take Professor Sadeghi. He doesn't believe in PowerPoints and handwrites his notes while lecturing, making it extremely hard to keep up and understand. He uses iClicker, and requires two other online things (Textbook and ALEKs) to be purchased which are both quite expensive. Worst professor I've had so far, and is just overall rude.
I was worried about taking Dr. Sadeghi. His teaching style isn't for everyone, but it helped a lot of the class so much. He really took the time to show us examples of what he was talking about. I would take him again in a heartbeat. He was easily accessible outside of class and always willing to help after class time and outside of office hours.
Really good teacher and I was never lost with anything covered in the lectures. His lectures are really engaging and fun, and I always felt like I was well-prepared for the exams. Only complaint is that there's a whole bunch of required stuff (aleks, iclicker) that costs a lot of money. Note: I only took the lecture portion, maybe lab is different.
I was scared for this professor but he ended up teaching chem super well. He broke everything down and repeated himself until we understood everything. He put in effort to see us succeed and I appreciate it. He's not the coordinator so he has limited control over tests/hw/ALEKS but he was caring and tried his best to help us understand the topics.
This man is my opp fr I hope he gets fired
he used to go in and change the grades that my TA had assigned to me, so my grade would drop from an 90 to an 80 for missing a comma on basic writing assignments. he says he "doesn't understand" how much work the coordinator gives, but he has been teaching this course for years now. he understands he just lies so you wont give him a bad review.
You get graded on attendance after the semester by answering questions on an iClicker which can be annoying. Homework makes up a lot of your total grade so you can do poor on exams but well on HW and you will pass. Exams usually 25-30 questions and pretty easy if you studied lecture notes, and go over your homework. He works out a lot of problems.
He was a good instructor. He was very willing to change due dates and push assignments back. His lectures were informative with plenty of in-person examples. The way he has his grading system set up makes it very easy to pass his class. As long as you keep up with Aleks and show up you will be fine.
Great professor !! I would retake his class, The only thing is if you truly want to understand chem, do your aleks without cheating.
Professor Sadeghi is my favorite professor at utsa,he makes lectures fun and does his best to help us in any way.Although the actual course is very overwhelming and makes you want to hate chemistry, he makes it enjoyable to learn and like.I hope he continues being an active member of the chem department for a long time.arman sucks do,-10/10 for him
Dr. Sadeghi is hilarious during lecture and makes understanding the more advanced topics in Gen Chem I straightforward through examples and accessible supplemental notes in Canvas. While Dr. Arman wrote the GCI tests, Sadeghi's lecture more than prepares you for them. Do ALEKS, and study a few hours a week.
Really great lecturer. He explained everything clearly and in an engaging way. He also spent a lot of time going over harder stuff just so no one's left out. The tests are really hard but it's the same for all GC1 classes, and he will prepare you well for what they are. The different HW is tedious, but I believe that's the same for all classes too.
Professor Sadeghi really cares about his students. He is hilarious and makes class fun. Use the notes he puts in modules, go to class, do ALEKS, and you should pass. I'd definitely recommend him.
Creep disrespectful inappropriate TA tried, it wasn't enough I feel bad for TA bc of him Unprofessional, insulted professors during lecture No respect that students were trying their best Would post, regrade, then hide the grades I was afraid to talk to him TA asked why he grades purposely gives low grades, he said "students have other classes"
Refers to himself as "Daddy" and doesn't understand boundaries with female students. Refuses to give students above a 90 on any assignment then proceeds to throw other professors under the bus. If you take him for lab, just be ready for your grade to plummet. I had to get the lab coordinator to regrade half my stuff who said "hes not good at ochem"
Dr. Sadeghi was nice at times, but he would often act unprofessional and make you feel like a burden for asking a question. Grades EXTREMELY hard with poor feedback and then blames the head of the lab department for making him grade so hard (which was not the case at all). I've never had a professor talk so much smack about other professors.
Professor Sadeghi brings humor and engagement to Gen Chem I. While the course can be challenging, his lectures and resources like ALEKS help students succeed. unstuck study's study tools were also useful for exam prep.
He is really good. He makes the lectures funny and chill.
He is a really good professor! ALEKS is mandatory. He tries his best for students to understand all topics and is the best professor to take for basic chem and chem I. I wish he would teach chem II and O chem. Take him! he makes your life easier compared to the other professors.
Overall, this class was poorly taught. Lectures were more so a set of quizzes where Sadeghi would scold the class for not properly learning material he taught, and class averages for tests were characteristic of this kind of failure, resting somewhere around 50-60%. He failed to respond to student inquiries via email despite multiple reminders.
Honestly one of the funniest prof ever! He made lectures engaging by telling jokes and in my opinion he made chem interesting. I am not good at it but he made me want to learn more. The tests aren't made by him so it's hard to tell what to study for.
Unprofessional and always made in appropriate comment. Should not be allowed 20 feet within a student
although gen chem is pretty hard in general, sadeghi made it pretty fun and helped us learn the material in a way we could understand. attending his lectures were useful to do good in the class. DO YOUR ALEKS DO YOUR ALEKS aleks basically carried my grade, i would have honestly failed if i didnt have a good aleks grade. bc the tests are pretty hard
He was a very fun and interactive teacher. To do well in the class, however, you should study outside of his lectures and do your ALECKS thoroughly and make sure you understand the material.
Good lecturer and explains the concepts clearly. CHE 1103 is a hard course and a lot of work will be required regardless of professor. Exams aren't too bad but he doesn't write them, Arman does. As long as you are consistent with ALEKS, you should be fine.
Funniest man alive, knows how to teach affectively and will always keep your attention. Hate comments mentioning his difficulty are just people who just are dumb ngl exams are manageable and btw he doesnt have power over who write the exams. Just show up, pay attention, study and you can get an A.
Grades his lab insanely hard. Does not even look at your work. Comments are completely irrelevant to your work and will reference data that you did not collect. Will take off a lot of points for tiny mistakes. Does not grade based on rubric at all and will nitpick despite that. Will change any good grades you get to be lower. Actually horrific.
Lectures were unorganized, doesn't respond to students' questions well, occasionally rude. Would occasionally call people to the board to complete questions towards the end of semester, and can get frustrated when quizzes don't perform well. ALEKS is required, but not required to do every day. Tended to push back due dates, which was nice.
I have mixed feelings about this guy. One day he seems great and he is communicating effectively in class, and the next he crashes out and tells us we're all going to fail and his lectures don't make sense. Overall he was good, there's not much homework but make sure to do ALEKS it's like your whole grade. And prepare well for the tests. Good luck.
I dont know what this professor's problem is. He gives iclicker questions 2 minutes before class ends; they're not multiple choice, and each digit of your answer matters, and they are worth 10% of your overall grade. He takes points off of your lab assignments if you breathe the wrong way.
It was hard to learn complex material from professor sadeigh, he would sometimes leave you with more questions after lectures and doesn't really know how to help people understand. Make sure to check the syllabus to see when to do Aleks every day for extra 5 points on exams 1-3. There were 10 hw's. Make sure to do Aleks it will save your grade!
Oh, you think your GPA won't be affected by this course? Think again. This is one of the most difficult courses to make good grades in. Sadeghi is a ruthless grader who WILL deduct points over every little thing in the assignments. Your grade will drop dramatically and there's a lot of work so be prepared. Also, there's no extra credit. Good luck!
Dr.Sadeghi was quite funny though his humor might disturb others so if you take things to heart, don't take him. Lectures consisted of practice questions, so if you don't like slide reading he's your guy. Very hard class, so you'll need to study a lot outside of class. His lectures will give you an idea of what questions will be on the exam.
Gen Chem is a difficult course regardless of the the professor but he did a decent job keeping the class engaged. He has an off sense of humor so if you don't like that don't take him. He also calls people up to the front to solve problems and he will let you sit up there feeling stupid if you aren't sure what to do.
Professor Sadeghi is an excellent instructor. He is clearly spoken and provides memorable demonstrations of concepts in class. He's very straight to the point with almost no rambling apart from his pauses for humor and micro skits. He can be a little crude at times to drive a point home, but it is in good taste. 10/10 would recommend
Not my favorite professor, as he can sometimes make out-of-pocket remarks. The course grade is based mostly on ALEKS, exams, and the final, so doing well in ALEKS is key. Lectures are okay — he doesn't use PowerPoints, instead asking questions and working through problems on the spot. Good luck!
He's an ok professor, lectures are mostly I-clicker questions but sometimes he explains the topic in detail very well. Just take notes prior to class and you should be fine. Definitely take him over Arman
Sadeghi was really funny and lectures were pretty much a few practice problems and him going over the basic concepts of problems. Just do aleks and the weekly homework and as long as you get over a 40-50 on the exams you'll pass
Professor Sadeghi is kind, but he often says one thing while the rubric says another, making writing assignments confusing. Expectations aren't clear, and grades are posted late, so you don't know what to fix before the next assignment.
Mr sadeghi is a wonderful professor and wants everyone to pass. On the other hand, the test coordinator, Arman, would rather you fail and take the course again 3 times. Class content was awesome, aleks was time consuming, but those tests were designed to make you fail. Mr sadeghi doesn't have control over them, only Arman unfortunately.
He's a funny guy but please do not take him for CHE-1131. He essentially co-instructs with Prof. Davidson and their instructions always contradicted each other. Beware of the written final; most of us failed it because of the exam consisting of trick questions. This class is hard in general, but if you turn everything in you'll at least pass.
General Chemistry 1 is a challenging course by nature. However, there is also very little support and guidance from this professor. You will end up having to learn most of the course material on your own through ALEKs and the textbook, so be prepared to put in hours of studying! The tests are curved, which is nice, but the material is difficult.
Pretty good at teaching the concepts, and an easy grade as long as you stay consistent with the homework and use the ALEKS well. Well-humored and cares greatly for your grade, and explains concepts repeatedly if even a small fraction of the class is still struggling. Great teacher to have for my first semester.
Class is tough but professor Sadeghi really cares and wants all his students to do good. Lectures are funny and mainly iClicker questions. Just pay attention, do ALEKS, and a decent bit of studying and you'll be good
