good writing skills = good grade
If you haven't heard by now - HE WENT TO HARVARD!! His intimidation tactics are only surpassed by his complete lack of people skill. Pompous.........

he is very intelligent and has a hard time filtering all his thoughts into a cohesive lecture. you are kind of on your own in terms of learning about the texts on your own.HOWEVER, if you can write a good 3 paragraph essay for tests you'll get an A!!
He is a very nice guy. If you go to class and read the material he gives you, you should get a A.
if you go to class and write a half decent essay for the midterm and final will get an A...one paper due at end...he asks a question at the beginning of class and get in groups of 3 or 4 and discuss, then he discusses what he thinks the answer is
Just awful. Sorry to say that, but in the case of our class, it was disorganized and chaotic.
Class can be somewhat boring, but he tries to make it exciting. We usually break into groups to discuss what we have read. Mid-term test and final paper are easy as long as you read!
really, really easy class. we write 5 papers all semester and there isn't any other work. it's an easy A. if that's what you're looking for!
BORING... CRAZY... PSYCHOTIC.... ANNOYING.... AND HE CAN'T PUT HIS THOUGHTS TOGETHER.... but I have a high B, so go I guess go for it.
This GUY IS TOO SMART! The class is boring. He rambles on and on. You have 5 essays! You will get an A if you put a little effort into the class. He is a bit strange! Beware! You should take him if you want!
Had Dr. Tumbleson for a graduate class. Very knowledgeable. Depended too much on open discussion. Some students want to be taught by an expert (which Dr. Tumbleson is) rather than having him moderate a discussion. Overall, it was a good class.
had a grad course with him. of all the grad courses i took, his was by far the worst. terrible. boring. disorganized. he may be very intelligent but he can't translate it to anything helpful.

scattered.
he's the coolest guy...I would take him again...even though class is a bit boring, he means well
His class is so easy. The only things you have to do is take the midterm and final and write a paper. Plus he gives you the questions for them. Awesome prof.
Kinda weird. Often boring. Only gives a midterm, final, and a paper. But hes very easy.
Easy professor, very scatter brained, often boring. Only a few tests and a final paper which wasn't bad at all. I barely showed up for class and got a B. Do well on the paper and tests and you'll pass.
He is a good guy. Most people really dont like him but I thought he was a good teacher. He will help if you want. And he is a fair grader. Just do your work and your reading and it is a good time. Sometimes wont show up so thats a plus.
nice guy but is alittle strange. Class is very easy tho only have a midterm, final, and paper
Good for graduate level literature. Maybe not appropriate for undergrads -- Eccentric, and odd -- but VERY knowledgeable. I enjoyed the course and will certainly take him again -- but wouldn't have liked him as an undergrad. Nice man. VERY knowledgeable.
Boring, runs a lame class. Lots of sitting and doing nothing. Also, he grades attendance, which hurt cause I never showed up since it was pointless. On the plus side, he's a decent guy, he basically gives you the exams ahead of time, and you should be able to pull a B if you've got half a brain.
makes the class veryboring, always lets u out early though, just essays are the grades, no tests, very easy graders, easy b, go to class you get credit!
Not a party guy, but not totally evil either. He rambles a lot and he changes subjects frequently, but I was able to do well just by doing the reading. Don't expect to be enthralled and captivated.
This class was boring...but soooo easy...TAKE HIM!
Class is very boring and Tumbleson has a very corny sense of humor. Papers are easy, but he takes off points for random reasons. Final is the last paper that is due. No tests or quizzes or reading. Easy class
REALLY easy class. If you need English credits and don't mind writing easy papers, take this class. Professer is strange and thinks that he is funny, but there are no tests or readings.
Easy class, all you need to do is read. As for the prof...hes really strange. He rambles a lot and he changes the tone in his voice a lot. Sometimes hes really loud and then all of a sudden you can hear him at all. Hes kind of gross too. You dont really do much in this class..good GPA booster though

His class was a lil' boring and I was able to get a nap in here and there...He was a nice guy though and his class was the perfect amount of difficulty/easiness

BORING class, but so easy. no need to do ANY reading. there's only 2 tests and 1 paper. he gives you the questions to the test beforehand, which makes them so easy. easy A, but you do have to go to class because it's 25% of your grade!!
Same boring routine every class. Gave most of the girls A's and most of the guys B's. Girls who never came to class got better grades then guys who were always there. Wont give you a number grade on your midterm(paper), just B, B+, etc. Would NOT take him again. Also thinks hes a funny guy,he's not.
WHOA! Boring, and not funny. He overwhelms class with his Harvard education.
not good
What planet is this guy from? Even though he is extra extra extra terrestrial, don't fear him. He is a good alien. Wow!!! I thought this was comp. It's more like classic comedy. Sit down and zone in. This guy is intense.
one word: terrible

wierd guy...has this moviefone-like-guy voice, deff an alien of some sort. but he is willing to help anyone out and his grading is very forgiving- plus he usually lets class out early! thumbs up to that
rambles for an hour straight using words that are barely comprehendable.will literally spend an entire class asking each and every person "what did you make of the reading?"and doesn't actually explain the point of it.however, his tests are really easy, so overall, it's worth the torture of sitting through class.
the man is a bumbling idiot. he has no communication skills. his classes are pointless. he does not teach at all. like maybe lectured one class, and his assigned paper was total crap. i am sure he's an okay guy, but he is a TERRIBLE teacher. trust me
boring but easy...better if you take it with friends. two tests and one paper each one is worth 25% the rest of class participation. i missed my final paper and still got a C.
one of the most boring classes I have ever taken. but it's very east if you go to class. midterm and final are super easy cause you can use the book and sneak notes inside of it to help you. final paper is ok. def take this class with people you know cause you will have plenty of time to talk.
Not a bad guy, but the class is boring. Yeah, definietly take the class with friends because everyday is a group discussion. Only a midterm, final, and one paper. Easy, he's sort of dull, but not bad.
Probably the easiet class anyone can take. Just read a few short stories or poems that he assigns, then you discuss them in class. A midterm, a final, and one paper. Sort of a boring class, but hey, it's an easy A.
he needs to hire a translator so the rest of us know what he's trying to say. I never heard him complete a sentence. Any questions about the question??? yeah get use to that one if you take the class. If he knows your name it's because he's going down the role list. Bueller Bueller Bueller!
This Professor isn't all too bad. He is weird but he is also the sci Fi lit teacher. I took his College Comp Class my first semester in college and i found it easy. Make sure you go to class everyday because he has you do a lot of in class assignments but they are easy! All i had to do was 5 papers which were super easy. I would recommend him.
Awesome, yet quirky proff. I'm planning on taking his Sci Fi Lit course this spring. He grades a little tough, but he has also probably been bugged by his children when grading sometimes. (Still has young school aged kids, and will take off when they are sick, which is rare.) Just edit papers carefully.
Funny
This was his first semester teaching World Lit. I'd say he did a pretty good job but we did the same thing every class. Someone talked about the reading, we got a question to answer, discussed it in groups and then as a class. Monotonous, but nice.
Overall, he was an easy teacher. He has conversations with himself, but he is nice. No tests, just papers. And easy papers at that!
Overall, he was an easy teacher. He has conversations with himself, but he is nice. No tests, just papers. And easy papers at that!
He's a really, really nice man and extremely intelligent. The class is also very easy. However, sadly, he lets people walk all over him and the people that do NOT want to learn basically run the class. I wish there was a little more structure. All together, I would recommend however.
Spacey, just like the lit he teaches. His class is an easy B if you just show up, and an easy A if you try just a little. There will always be discussions in class, you cannot escape it. If you don't feel like talking that day, just pray someone else takes the reins and does because he does call on you. Overall, not bad but classes are monotonous.
Although he is very spacey and talks to himself a lot, he is a very nice man. Always willing to help out a student and the class is so easy. All you do is write papers. So if you don't mind a a teacher who weird but is easy and nice, take him!
He's a nice man, and he definitely knows what he's talking about, but he babbles on and on, and he's very hard to understand. His classes are very boring. He has no idea how to teach others what he knows. Overall a good guy, but not a good prof.
Jesus, where do i begin. The man is a rambler. Goes ON AND ON about absolutely nothing. Very nice, but is a extremely awkward to say the least. I received all A's on my papers.. which you will have to write about 5 for the entire semester. Show up and you'll get points. He takes attendance! Try not to fall asleep when you have writing workshops
BORING. He does not stop talking, ever. He's very awkward. Basically a high school class-- read the book, have him ramble about plot (not even anything significant like symbolism, ect.) watch a movie, repeat. Mandatory attendance. I just brought other work to do.
biggest waste of three hours a week for 15 weeks of my life...SUCKS!!!
It is great that this class is offered. I Love sci-fi..and u must if u take this class. If it bores you stay away. He knows his stuff but a little too well in this case as his personal view on works will get in the way of discussion. Attendance is 20% so show up. That being said vry easy english class and alot of fun. would take every year
I had Dr. Tumbleson for a seminar in British Literature, and I was extremely excited to study because, come on, what English major doesn't like British literature? He knows a lot about 18th century lit. However, the reading list was absolutely the most banal, uncritical, irrelevant material I have ever encountered in college.
Dr. Raymond "TUMBLEWEED" Tumbleson! This man does not stop talking! He goes on and on with nothing really important to say. He is very nice, but is incredibly awkward to talk to. He takes attendance, but besides that he doesn't bother to check if the ENTIRE CLASS is asleep. All you have to do is show up, do your work, and you'll probably get an A.
He's very nice and occasionally pops a joke that's hilarious, but he talks the whole class, most of the time not even on topic. Just show up and read and you'll be fine. Only grades are attendance, midterm, final, and a term paper. Simple as that.
Dr. Tumbleson is really the nicest guy. He is quirky and babbles a lot, but he knows and accepts that. He is fair and is very intelligent. I probably wouldn't take another class of his because he is very sleepy-making. But he is very very kind.
very akward and rambles a lot !! not one of my favorite classes because he's very boring, but his assignments are easy and he's an easier grader than some of my high school teachers, and as long as you show up you'll pass. Reminds me of a junior high class
Had him for Brit Lit, so boring!!! The man knows so much and is very brilliant, but lacks relationship with his students. I caught myself falling asleep during class. I managed to get a B- which is impressive considering I hardly read the assignments. Only has about 4 grades for the entire semester.
You will learn nothing in this class. Attendance is mandatory but I fell asleep in class most days. You do not need to read the assignments except for the final paper, as all he does is rambles about the author's background and the time period all class. Midterm and final are graded very easily.
Sci-Fi lit was SO easy. There is a lot that you have to read, but the discussions in class are so vague that you don't even have to read them to participate. Personal responses to each book as a grade, which he only checks as done or not done. The midterm and final are all your opinion. Easy class to fill up any gen-eds.
This class was admittedly really really REALLY easy. Sometimes you didn't even really have to read the books to get a positive grade on the discussions or even the Mid-Term or Final. The class is still really interesting, though! Professor doesn't even use D2L, though, and it's difficult to contact him outside class. He's very laid back.
The most difficult part of class is trying to stay awake during it. He makes attendance mandatory because he is too boring to get people to come. Skip class and he deducts huge chunks from your final grade. Don't buy the book, you will literally sparknote everything. He gives you essay prompts for the mid term. Class is irrelevant.
I love Austen lit, but being in this class made me start to hate it. During our Pride and Prejudice unit, he FELL ASLEEP as we watched different versions of it. Not to mention he sounds like his voice is putting his face to sleep. Maybe I have to see how he is in other classes, but this class was unbearable and I dropped it. Cool guy, bad class.
Dr. Tumbleson is the most boring human being I have ever met. The only reason attendance is mandatory is because if it wasnt no one would show up. He spends the entire class mumbling about things completely irrelevant to what were working on in class. Half the time the class has no idea what hes talking about. I do not recommend.
Dr. Tumbleson is the most monotone professor. Although I like both Tolkien and Lewis, I honestly stopped reading half way through the course and my attendance was sparse- sitting through his class felt like being in jail. He also argued another student that referring to mentally handicapped people as retarded is okay when she said it wasn't.
The hardest part of this class, is sitting through it. You have 4 essays and he usually gives everyone a B. If you have this class with a friend, buy the textbook together and share it because any book assignments are in class and with a partner. He talks with his eye closed and very monotone so it is hard to stay awake but attendance is key
He takes attendance every time, but cancels class a lot. You will use the textbook most classes, but if you know a friend who has it you can just look off of theirs and not spend the money. His classes are very boring and will put you to sleep let alone the fact that he randomly mumbles on about random stuff. Easy A though.
Attendance is mandatory for students, but it's not mandatory for the professor. He cancelled 10 of my classes in the semester that I had him. Share the book if you can. The class isn't hard, it's just boring and he likes to pick fights with his students. Just show up and turn your essays in on time and you'll be fine.
He is extremely monotone and boring. You have to read a lot of books but the response papers are super easy. If you are looking for a pretty easy A I suggest it. But you have to purchase a lot of books and sit through the most boring conversations.
You read 50-80 pages for class then he ignores class for 40 minutes while directing groups to discuss a single prompt question. There isn't a reason to do the reading because he doesn't test against the reading. Assignments are short and easy and he doesn't read them. Arbitrarily assigns grades at the end of the semester. Lazy and unprofessional.
He may be boring and bland while in class, but this is such an easy A. Midterm was a paper you could work on all semester, and the discussions he grades 50% if you didn't do it and 100% if you did. I sit on my phone all class and haven't really read all semester, and I still have a good grade.
He may be boring and the class is annoying but as long as you show up you should be fine. I haven't read one single thing yet and get 100% on all of my 1 page response papers, and got a 90% on the midterm paper. As long as you turn the response papers in on time and they're a full page you'll get an A on it. Very easy class.
Asking a simple question to clarify and unclarified statement will cause him to have an attitude and be rude for no reason. He likes to go on rants about pointless things and fight with students. The class is easy if you can sit through his monotone voice.
You can tell that Dr. Tumbleson really understands and appreciates the content he is teaching.
No D2L page, so I had no idea what my grades were the entire semester other than the occasional check mark on my papers. Did not provide explanations on why a paper was docked points, often went off on tangents during lecture, and honestly was quite rude in some comments he made towards other students.
doesnt use d2l AT ALL, is rude and inconsiderate. he assigned no homework or exams other than a one paragraph "paper" on a poem or story at the end of each week that u get completion for as long as u do it, he doesnt even read it, u could just keyboard smash it, and a midterm and final. he gave everyone a B.
Worst professor I've had yet and I'm only 2 weeks in, debating about dropping. He talks like he's trying to put us and himself to sleep, he's so boring. Feels like a HS class with all the group classwork he assigns us, just makes us discuss in groups the whole class. Not to mention, he's super rude and will stand over you waiting for an answer.
He is very bland and oftentimes lectures about the history of Jane Austen. The readings are easily over 100 pages, and if you struggle reading or concentrating on harder lexile-leveled novels; then this is not the class for you. We never got grades for this class and the guidelines aren't the clearest for papers. Also, he never answers his email.
I dont know how this man has been a professor for 30 years. He can barely string a sentence together, and he's an english professor. He uses "um" and "uh" more than any other word. He will get mad at the class for having no clue what is going on, as if we telepathically should know what's going on in the class, without being clear.
Professor Tumbleson is very unprofessional and is generally disagreeable to be around. He belittles students for asking questions or for not immediately understanding the material, despite providing almost zero meaningful lecturing on the material and no supplementary material outside of the texts. He somehow took all the joy out of Tolkien.
He doesn't use D2L or return papers, so you'll be in the dark about your grade during the semester. Attendance is mandatory, and he spends a lot of the class yapping instead of actually teaching anything. DO NOT LOSE THE SYLLABUS!! it's the only way you'll know what's going on, esp if you skip class. Befriend someone so u can email if u need to.
He has no D2L page, which is annoying because you never know your grade unless you go to office hours and have him calculate it for you. I took a class that was about something he enjoyed, so it was a lot of discussion, basically book club. He's a nice guy, but idk man.
The most monotone professor I've ever had. The lectures are super boring and you can easily get by this class if you use Sparknotes or the internet. The amount of times he has given attitude towards students for simply existing or using the bathroom is so unprofessional. Class is a joke.
