Practicles are exremely difficult and quizes seem random. Great guy and great lecturer, be prepared to work.

Extremely tough grader but clear and elaborate with his diagrams and instruction. He loves the subject and loves to teach and interact with students. Tests and quizzes are crazy. However, after the midterm all quizzes are take-home.

Good guy. Great passion for the subject. Like everyone else said, you have to work to get a good grade in his class. you can't miss much to get an A, but that goes for all bio labs. Just work hard, want an easy A take someone else. GREAT GUY!

Tests are hard, but curves well, overall good teacher, I would recomend.

He's good with lectures. He means serious business when he tells you to study for those tests though. The tests are pretty straightforward, and if you review, you should do fine. Overall he's a pretty nice guy.

Very funny guy. Tests all from his lecture and hand-drawn diagrams. Gotta take really good notes for the quizzes. doesn't collect lab assignments. Helpful though. Difficult, but do-able B+/A.

Apparently half the class dropped out after the first practical, including me. Practical was ridiculous. Not a boring guy. Gives good lecture. Bad practical plus pop quizes.

Great at explaining material. He tries his best to give examples in order to make things easier to understand. However, his practicals are hard (esp. the last one). There are a few easy homework assignments, but you receive an A just for doing them.

I thought a three hour class would be agonizing, but Mr. Ulbrich makes it fly by. He draws great diagrams on the board and gives great notes, Plus he's got a great sense of humor! The only thing is that his tests can be killers. Study like crazy!

He is the best teacher by far in this school, he cares about his students and makes this class fun. If you do not take this professor you are definitly missing out. The tests are hard and so is the information but if you need help, he will help.

Ulbrich is very amusing;he tells quite a bit of jokes. Sometimes they aren't funny but even that in itself makes them more funny.BUT!!His 2 exams are tough! study very well because some of the material is so detailed. He likes to drink SPRITE in class ;)

I've really enjoyed Dr. Ulbrich. He's a wonderful teacher and cares for his students. I definitely recommend him!!

I love this guy. There is some kind of attraction even though he is older and stocky and bald. He has a certain charm and charisma that attracted me. I am a guy but not ****! I like chicks and all but maybe I mean he is like a mentor or something.

This man is amazing. Always willing to help you, he assures you get an A. Always available out of class, and willing to relate to student. I highly recommend.

dr. U is the BEST bio lab teacher at loyola by far!! he explains everything and draws pictures (in color and detail) on every thing you look at in the m.scopes, he is the bomb! take him if you want to really learn about what you're doing! he tests hard..

Dr U is great, i miss his colorfull illustrations. His tests were impossible to pass unless you had a phtographic memory. but it was fun in his class and he was always willing to work with you

ulbrich is a cool and funny teacher but his quizzes (which sumtimes end up take-home!) and exams are extremely hard. you really have to remember what kinds of slides u looked at otherwise your screwed

Ulbrich is an awesome guy!! he's not that strict, and he always gave me left over munchkins after the lab exams. try to memorize EVERYTHING for the exams. his quizes are ok, he lets you drop one out of the six. his lectures are interesting. he's a GREAT teacher and a cool guy. highly recommended.

Professor Ulbrich is a nice guy,but his classes are hard. You need to know every last detail for exams, and quizzes are difficult. But, I would recommend him because he makes lectures interesting, and he is nice.

i had him four years ago, he was the BEST!! so clear, draws everything out with color!! i swear he was the best...we didnt have quizes or anything like that, but i think he changed that so it sux to be you! lol...but he is a cool guy, take his class.

Professor Ulbrich, although not the easiest instructor for this class, was a good choice for my first Biology lab. He's a nice man whose expectations for his students are challenging, but not unattainable.

Explains everything in lab before you do it. Draws pictures of what u're gonna see. Very very helpful. Highly recommend. STUDY YOUR NOTES!!!!!

ulbrich was awesome, ten times better than my past bio lab teacher. explains everything and his notes are very thorough. as long as you pay attention and study what he gives you, you'll do fine in the class. GREAT TEACHER

I truly enjoyed his class, i wish he taught other bio classes. He's one of those teachers who explains everything really well, and you'd have to be really stupid to get a bad grade in his class.

Very nice teacher, laid back class. helpful in and outside of class, and goes over material more than other lab teachers. yes, sometimes it does seem like he's moving fast, but that's just because there's so much material. but..if he went slower, we'd have to stay in class the whole time, so weigh the advantages. lab tests are quite difficult

It seems like no one likes their bio teachers no matter who they have, and bio lab in general just sucks. But, Mr. Ulbrich is a really good guy and it is possible to get an A, seeing as how i have an A now, just before the final...He explains everything very well and helps out a lot in class...Exams are hard, but all bio labs are hard

bio labs in general are hard, so i guess you just have to base your choice on the professor's personality rather than easiness. with that in mind, professor ulbrich is a great guy that will help you with anything whether it involves his class or not. without a doubt the best bio lab teacher around.

Great professor! Tests are very difficult...but that should be expected with any bio lab. His lectures are interesting and you can definately tell he really wants his students to learn. If I could take him again...I definately would.

So tell me why I have had straight A's all throughout college and will probably have a C for my midterm grade? In my opinion, he makes this class way harder than it needs to be. The exams and the quizzes are so fn detailed. He seems like a nice man but seriously I have spent a ridiculous amount of time studying for this ONE CREDIT CLASS!!

the KINDEST man ever. he truly cares. visual learners take him. you have to momorize lots of stuff but he draws and shows you everything you need to know. very helpful when you have questions.

I think he is one of the best bio lab teacher out there. 3 exams. 6 quizzes in total, 1 was group, 2 was take home, 1 you can use your lab manual, and 2 was do it yourself. You don't know what it's going to be until the day of, so you still have to study. Exams are hard, but not if you study. He makes class interesting

It is the class and the material covered during the class which make seem any teacher difficult when it comes to Bio2 Lab.

Very kind and intelligent guy. You'll never leave class early bc he teaches ALOT of information. Annoying when some the info he tests on isn't in the manual but something he just "mentioned" during class. The quizzes are tough but he helps you out sometimes.If you study HARD, you'll do well.

VERY good professor. won't give u that extra point if u need it though, but overall he grades decently. the tests are hard and you HAVE to come to class or you'll be lost.

He is a really good teacher, and you can tell he is a great person. He has many important diagrams he draws in class. His tests aren't bad if you study hard for the quizes you will basically know the material for the test.

amazing professor, i wish he could teach everything. he explains the material sooo well, with diagrams. quizes are on lab the week before, but there are group, take home and open book quizes!he drops the lowest quiz grade. tests are hard, but then again what do you expect, its a bio test. gfreat sense of humor too!!

Take REALLY good notes in class and study those notes. Quizzes aren't too bad, tests are really tough, but he provides all the info. Good teacher compared to other bio labs, but you definitely have to study. An A is difficult, but not impossible.

really really hard class..studying isn't enough!u could study for 8 hours and still fail his tests. only way to do well in the class is to pay attention to EVERY SINGLE detail 3-4 hours straight with his diagrams and lectures..very good teacher but quizzes and tests are so hard!

He is a great teacher, extremely approachable,and funny, yet his tests and quizzes casn be difficult. He helps out by making the quizzes "group quizzes" and "take-home quizzes" which is very helpful. You WILL struggle in his class though

Really really nice guy. Very helpful. Tries his best to teach students and is definetly approachable. If you are confused about anything ask him for help because he will try his best to help. That being said ... the class is extremly difficutl. You have to memorize everything in the textbook and you have to pay attention during class.

Ulbrich is a great guy and it's clear he loves teaching. He's really approachable and always willing to help students. While lab is long, he usually kept it entertaining. His tests are really hard however. The quizzes are not bad at all though, so long as you read and pay attention in class. You'll learn a lot with Ulbrich.

he's a great teacher and keeps things very interesting; his class always lasts the full three hours, unlike most lab teachers, but it's obvious he loves teaching. it's sort of hard to get a good grade in his class though because everything he writes on the board and literally everything in the corresponding chapter is on the quiz or test.

He is a GREAT teacher. He has been at Loyola a long time! He clearly loves what he is doing. You defiantely need to study the book and the notes he puts on the board for each exam. I found the first test to be very difficult and the other 2 tests very straight forward.

this lab was the best lab you can ever take for 101, he teaches good and draws many diagrams so you understand. he is by far the easier bio lab teacher, but he actually teaches it all. his tests require that you study, but so does any other class. overall he is a really nice guy.

He is an AWESOME teacher!!!! So glad I took him as a first semester freshman. I had him for an 8:30 lab and he was always in a good mood and cracked jokes. Draws a ton of diagrams. Make sure to study the manual for quizzes and tests, especially the vocab. I highly recommend him!!!

Ulbrich is a great professor. He is very knowledgeable and clear about subject matter, and draws everything himself (and explains while he does it). He uses all the class time, but teaches everything (unlike some other professors). His tests are fairly difficult, and require that you study moderately. I would take him every year if I could.

Yea, this professor apparently loves his job. he is a great teacher. He literally prepares you for exams step-by-step. It is very possible to get an A in his class. I missed to labs and I still managed an A-.

He is a GREAT professor. I would take him if you can. He isn't the easiest, but compared to all the other bio lab profs he is great. Take good notes and listen and you should be fine. but a great teacher and very funny. TAKE HIM

I have heard from the others that Ulbrich is the easiest bio lab teacher you can get. From my personal experience, his class was not that easy but he is extremely fair, kind, and helpful. I was able to get a B+ without putting in too much effort.

He uses all of the time and he will trick you on the exams. However, he allows group quizzes, open book quizzes, and take home quizzes. He really knows his stuff and expects the same from his students. Unlike most of the lab professors he actually teaches which is very helpful. I feel like I actually learned from him Bring colored pencils to class!

Ulbrich is the best bio lab professor at Loyola. everything is easy and understandable except the practicals, which require extensive amounts of studying...but thats for any bio lab class. dont look at anyone else, Ulbrich is the best. plus his way of interactive teaching really embeds the concepts learned in this class.

Bio lab is hard on its own, but Ulbrich makes it easy to understand and fun. Throws in lots of anecdotes. Homework out of the lab book is due by next class usually. 3 practical exams (non-cumul final), multiple quizzes. He brings candy or donuts for the exams!

Dr. Ulbrich is the best lab teacher you could have! The class is tough but he is hilarious and makes it as fun as possible! He gives completion points on labs, group/take home quizzes, and curves at the end if you tried. Copy down the notes he writes and study them and you will do well! You do stay the full time every class, but its worth it.

Dr. Ulbrich IS AMAZING!!! BEST BIO LAB PROFESSOR OUT THERE! He lets you do group and take home quizes (which no one lets you do) and IS AN AMAZING ARTIST! Professor Ulbrich is a really good teacher. Bio lab in and of itself is a difficult course- lots of memorization and outside work, but Professor Ulbrich wants you to succeed. Make sure to take good notes in class, read the bold terms in the lab manual, and study the slides that are online. I'd recommend him for bio 111!

Amazing professor! Honestly, this man has kindled a passion for biology within my soul. His lectures are so seamless that lab time seems to fly right by. He's an extremely nice man, and his exams, though challenging, are extremely fair and reasonable. Without a doubt, when picking a professor choose him.

Very helpful and sweet man. Labs is hard and long as usual, so effort is very much required!Quizzes every week mainly on HIS notes, but read the lab before class. Take notes on what he says, also ask if you can take pictures of his diagrams.Tests are quite difficult just review his notes, quizzes, and make sure you know the info not just memorize.

MR. ULBRICH IS AMAZING! TIPS to pull an A: Read the labs thoroughly, take good notes in class,record lectures if possible, make study groups cuz they help a lot. There are 3 exams and 6 quizes. For the exams, pretty much memorize and understand his notes in and out. Do this and getting an A will be a challenge but totally possible!

I love Ulbrich. Takes quiz and test questions straight from the notes he gives you, so make sure you take his notes down word for word. Other than that he is super helpful with explaining everything, so don't be afraid to ask. A very approachable and jolly character, he likes to joke around a lot. Highly recommend him.

He's awesome. You definitely will have to study for quizzes and exams thoroughly, but you're going to learn so much, and an A is perfectly doable. He's a really nice guy, especially once you get to know him. Very understanding. He makes lame jokes, but they do get a laugh. :)

He is a major help. Not only does he give you the drawings (part of your homework), but he only checks for completion, so as long as you do it, you get full points. Quizzes are sometimes tough but he does a group quiz at least once. Practicals are kind of challenging so you definitely need to study hard for those.
