Prof Dexter was my favorite teacher this semester. She obviously loves the material and gives multiple opportunities for extra credit. Quizzes are online and are due before class at the beginning of each chapter. Go to class and take notes because you definitely have to try in this class for an A, but it is not super time consuming.
This class definitely is not a blow off. There is a ton of little assignments, readings, and quizzes that pile up. She gives extra credit frequently. The class is interesting and she is such a cool professor, but expect to work for your grade!! If you do the work, you can easily achieve an A.
There's many online quizzes and homework assignments, every week. The exams are really based off the notes in class and quizzes so the book is not all that useful. Good professor, but not a blow off class. Need to go to class and do assignments or won't do well. Offers up to 3 points added on to final average if you do 3 extra credit assignments.
Professor Dexter was extremely enthusiastic when lecturing which did not make going to class that bad. There was no attendance sheet and she gives lots of extra credit assignments. She is a very tough grader when it comes to essays. I would recommend taking this class.
online quizzes every couple of days, online exams are pretty easy, fairly interesting lectures, she does group assignments in class, easy A, would recommend
There is a lot of homework and work outside of class. Class discussions were fun. She grades very tough, and is ambiguous about her reasoning. I wouldn't take this class again, just because of the amount of work and the fact that it is difficult to get an A. I haven't met anyone in my class that was especially pleased with her as a professor.
Her lectures were interesting but her quizzes online are not easy. She is looking for a specific answer for the online quizzes. She is a tough grader and she can probably tell which students are putting more effort into their work.
All you have to do to pass this class is go to lectures, and write down what she says. Online tests aren't very hard if you listen. Remember to always check ecampus because tests are going to show up! She is super caring and easy to talk to, always willing to help students out with technical difficulties, and any question they have.
As long as you come to class and pay attention, you'll get an A/B. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she does take attendance and she does do a 1 question quiz at some point during the lecture. She really loves theatre and you can tell in her lectures. the homework is just reading or watching a play and taking a short quiz about it. 4 exams. all MC.
This has been one of my favorite classes here. Tests and quizzes are online so all you have to do is show up to class, pay attention and take notes. Make sure to have friends in class who can send you the notes if you do have to miss class. Professor Dexter really cares about her students, she's great!
I got an A easily, but do not think the class is a "blow off." You must put in effort to earn the grade by reading all of the assigned chapters and complete the online quizzes. She gave us a total of three exams, which are pretty simple since she uses the same questions previously seen on the quizzes. The exams were online and are open-note.
Professor Dexter was a great professor! She cares about what she was teaching. The class was SUPER easy and almost everything was online. Showing up to class was ideal because she would randomly do inclass assignments to get people to come to class. One group project/presentation, online quizzes and test are very simple. Great GPA boost.
Professor Dexter gives extremely entertaining lectures. She is super passionate about theater and teaching. Attendance and class participation are part of overall grade, but mostly test and quiz heavy (all online). Would take again!
The class itself isn't very hard, but if you want an A, you're really going to have to work for it. Open-note online quizzes about every week. 3 Exams and a Group Research Project of one's choice. She is always happy to answer her students questions. Only con I would say is that some of her quiz questions can be very book specific.
Makes you have discussions in an assigned group during lecture. If I had known we had to socialize with other people for this course I wouldn't have even bothered with this course. 5 difficulty because talking to people is the hardest thing I've ever done or will have to do. And she makes you read a TON.
Honestly, she just makes you talk a ton in class. She is super rude about if you don't understand the material. I feel like she makes this class more difficult and intense than it needs to be. Take someone else because THAR is suppose to be an easy A.
Her class isn't a hard class, but the A isn't given to you either. There's at least one iClicker question every class period, so you have to show up. On some peer-reviewed assignments, I was praised by some people for parts of my assignment and criticized by others for the same component. Her criteria isn't clear, and it's affected multiple grades.
This class is such an easy A. Tests AND quizzes online, both open note. 3 times for quizzes and she takes the highest grade which is so nice, no reason not to make a 100. Tests are easy the only thing hard is the time limit (50 min, 50 questions). Write down every she says and you'll be fine. iClicker participation 10% is grade. TAKE her!
Professor Dexter makes you genuinely work for an A in this class. If you have the option to wait to take another professor for an easy A - DO IT. She makes you write a 5 page paper over theatre? also I have a 90.5 in the class so the fact that I even have to consider doing the extra credit for this class is actually ridiculous. 10/10 don't take
I really wish Quackenbush would come back. This class used to be such an easy A, from what I've heard. She takes attendance every class, so you have to go every time. There are group discussions in class. You have to watch 2+ hour long plays almost every week, with a quiz. And there is a 1500 word essay on THEATRE. Seriously? Are you kidding me?
She is one of those professors who makes an easy subject something that you have to work unnecessarily hard for. Mandatory attendance. I didn't show up for 1 class and my attendance grade dropped 5%. Pretty stupid. 1500 word paper. Have to watch or read plays almost every week. Most of them are around 2 hours. Wait for another easier prof.
She does iClicker questions every class, so you have to go to class or your grade will take a hit. All exams are online & you can use your notes, so it's not hard to make an A. Most annoying thing about the class were the weekly quizzes/assignments; they weren't hard or time consuming, but were just another thing to do & were easy to forget about
Show up to class and you will get a 100. Every test and quiz is online. Attendance matters and counts for a grade, you will not get an A if you don't go to class. Super easy.
Professor Dexter was an awesome professor! It was a really easy class, and all of the tests and quizzes were online, with open notes, powerpoint and the video or script the quiz was over. She made the subject really interesting and i enjoyed coming to class (even though attendance is required for participation points)
Dexter is a very passionate professor with clear objectives to make an A in this class. If you come to class, take good notes and complete the weekly online quizzes and 4 online tests and you should get an A with no problem.
Biggest waste of time I've ever taken. So many unnecessary things to do. Do yourself a favour by taking another professor or taking another ICD credit.
I took THAR281 expecting it to be an easy A, and with Dexter it definitely was not as easy as I was expecting. Making an A is still very possible, you just have to put in a little work. Her test questions come directly from lectures, so you have to pay attention. At the end of the semester she makes you write a 1000 word essay, which was not easy
Prof Dexter is very sweet and caring. 4 Tests, weekly online quizzes (3 attempts, take s the highest grade, easy 100) and a few assignments that are worth 10% of grade. Also 10% of grade is participation via iClicker (my lowest grade lol). 1000 word easy was a little annoying, peer reviewed. 3+ points of extra credit on final grade. Take her!
You can tell Dr. Dexter cares deeply for her students and wants everyone, not just the performance studies majors, to get something out of the class. It was a fairly easy class that does require effort. Take her if you can, you won't regret it!
She is a really nice lady and truly cares about her students. Her class is very annoying though. Lots of quizzes and you have to go to class to get the notes. Her tests are really hard, but all of them are online and open note.. But its still hard to find the answers without going to class. She offers extra credit for 1% of your grade.
Pretty good Prof. She's very detailed and cares a lot about what she teaches, but there is a lot of homework. Usually at least one video a week, that can be an hour long at minimum. Easy A if you go to class and do the work. Tests are open note. Beware of peer review assignments.
Very caring professor, enjoyable class overall. Cares about the material. Weekly quizzes and mandatory attendance via iclicker. Lots of extra credit opportunities and a fun class overall. Lots of notes, but the tests are online and open book. My secret, take notes on a laptop and then search them on your notes document come test time.
She is super energetic and caring. Class is easy but hard once you start missing. Attendance is mandatory and highly suggested if you can an A. Extra credit is offered a lot so take advantage. In my onion I had more work to turn in every week than I had compared to my majors courses.
Terrible class. Took this expecting it to be a class where I could put in a little bit of effort and come out with an A. I was dead wrong. Takes attendance at every class and even if you take notes at every single class and google the answers for the test, they are still very difficult. Awful class that Id never take again.
Rayna is a good prof. She is very sweet and cares about her students. Her tests are online and the final is noncumulative. There are 3 regular tests and a final. She gives a lot of chances for extra credit. There are many quizzes online but most are on quizlet. You need a iclicker and that's how she does attendance by asking questions. Recommend!
Not the best professor I've taken, but she was still good. Lectures were kind of boring at times and she used iclickers to take attendance so you have to go to class all the time. Tests and quizzes are open note and open book. An interesting and easy A class, but there are better professors who teach it
If you need a cultural/philosophy/language credit then take this class with prof Dexter. If you attend class and take notes over her lectures it will be an easy A. She gives lots of extra credit and exams are online. There is no final just a paper. Quick to answer emails and very clear when it comes to what is due and when.
If youre taking this for an easy class then dont. Lots of reading, around 30 pgs per week and have to write several essays throughout the course. She offers several different ways to get extra credit but you can only get up to 1 point.
Dexter was AMAZING and actually made theatre really fun, but you have to actually go to class. Lots of online assignments, but they require little effort. Tests are done online and she lets you use notes and other class materials to take it. She also doesnt make you come in for a lot of Friday classes which is really great. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Dexter was a great instructor. She really implemented real world concepts into her course. There were a lot of assignments. Weekly quizzes/4 exams done on online. 4 essays, that are graded by class the. Make sure to go to class and bring an iClicker for participation points--THAT DO MATTER.
A wonderful prof. Would take her again. Was always very clear in lecture and made them interesting. Was very clear on grading criteria for anything from a quiz to a test. Very fair grader and will help you out wherever needed. The workload is very manageable. Online, open note tests. Go to class, do the work, pay attention, and you've got an A.
Professor Dexter is pretty lenient and she gives extra credit when needed! She does clicker points, so go to class! It is pretty easy class, but it has a lot of work to do. You cannot just take test and quizzes. You need to do a lot of extra work for this class, but a great gpa booster!
The lectures are mandatory and really affect your grade. The book is required but I never cracked it open. She loves the material it can be a fun class but she is not willing to give anyone an easy A. You have to actually work for a B. Not a blow off class.
Dexter is a pretty good prof, though I suspect this class required more work than it would have with other profs. Don't buy the textbook, save the money by checking it out at the annex. To study use lecture notes and the summary section in the book. Class is pretty straightforward. She also gives Friday's off for students to watch video assignments
I took this class as a blow off class and ended up loving it. It has really interesting material and the assignments she gives are mostly fun. There are a few papers you have to write but you get to choose your own topic so it's pretty interesting. Dexter is really nice and passionate about the material. Attendance is taken every class for a grade.
I took this class for an elective credit. Overall Dexter is very nice, but she does give quite a bit of work in her class. It's a pretty easy A, mostly all assignments/quizzes/tests are online so they are easy to do well on. Don't skip class too much though, because the missed clicker points add up after a while.
Awesome prof! Attendance is mandatory - so avoid her 8 am. Lots of plays/movies to watch, but the quizzes are easy. Never touched the textbook and got B+'s and higher on every test. Funny lectures, interesting material; overall great course.
Rayna is a great prof. the only thing I would critique is she assigns way too much homework. It was manageable I just had to put a lot of effort in her class. Overall if you do the homework and all assignment will make an A. Its an easy if you just do the work. Also, I didn't touch the book once, so no need for it. She really cares for her students
Dexter is cool&the class is pretty easy. All the exams and quizzes are online. Most of them you can google and find a quizlet but some you have to watch the videos she assigns. She posts her ppt slides but in class she goes more into depth about them and usually thats whats on the exams. She also uses iclicker for extra credit participation points.
Do not take this class. There are assignments that should be left in a highschool class, and speaking of assignments you have 1-2 every week. I made an A on every test, and still am gonna get a 88.6. This class is not worth it, and its an 8am.
This class is supposed to be easy, but there are a lot of assignments to do which take up more time than they really have to. Tests and quizzes are all online... some of the test questions are material which was not covered in class... quizzes can be sometimes found online but many are not online. The professor is very sweet and cares for students
Prof Dexter is a great professor, but had a lot of work outside class and wants you to watch and read a bunch of plays that you must start on in advance. Attendance is also mandatory in her class. She takes clicker questions everyday, so you actually have to show up. Her tests are not bad though if you have put in the outside work.
Dexter is caring and compassionate. She really loves to teach and its obviously her passion. Show her the respect she deserves and actually try outside of class (on the examinations and projects) and you should get an A. iclicker makes attendance mandatory.
I took this class for an art credit expecting it to be an easy A, but there is so much work you have to put into this class. She assigns hours of videos and plays to watch for quizzes and assignments. There are multiple assignments in a week, and her tests are ridiculous. She makes questions that are never talked about in class. Don't take her!
Be careful if you think this class is an easy A. It is definitely not. She makes you work extra hard for an A. I went to class every day, took all the notes, never miss one class and barely made an A. Her exams are hard and if you did not read the textbook, you won't find the answer. Not all of the questions are online. Exams are hard.
Professor Dexter is a very sweet lady. Her class is one of the easier ones at A&M, however, she does have a good amount of assignments. 4 exams, all online. Only worth 40% of the final grade. One (easy) paper worth another 100, and the rest is attendance, homework, completion grade in-class writing assignments. She is a good prof.
Professor Dexter definitely has her students work for an A! Very clear syllabus, but don't get behind on the work because its a lot. Each week there is videos (maybe 1-2 hours worth), discussion posts, readings, and quizzes. It is doable, but it reminds me a lot of high school busy work.
You can definitely get an A in this class, but it's a ton of work. I wrote at least 4 essays for this class. 2 group projects. The tests and quizzes are open note, but she words them weird so they're tricky. You have to read the entirety of the chapters or you will fail. Wouldn't recommend this class if you have a lot on your plate.
I wish I would've taken an easier THAR class. The tests were somewhat difficult but overall pretty easy. She takes forever to grade things so don't expect a final grade for a long time. She cares about the topic but not many people in the class do and its very obvious. I wouldn't attend class if we didn't have iclicker questions for attendance.
Her flaw is how she enters grades. Our first project was due in February and didn't get other major grades until May. Honestly if you don't show up for IClickers and in class writing, your grades will drop. Started with an A until a month before finals when it dropped to a B, then with extra credit, a 90.7. A friend had a 89.5 and she rounded.
Her classes are enjoyable, and she's a good public speaker so class is never boring. You will be put into small groups and do in-class assignments with them, but you rarely have to work on anything outside of class. As long as you have a good group and show up most of the time, don't stress about taking a day off once in a while.
Smart professor who definitely makes you work for your grade. Class is inanely easy, except for some reason her test are way harder than they need to be. Overall an easy class, except for the test.
Super chill class, but definitely makes you work for the A. Had an 89.325 and she roundedEasy group assignments and basic projects that I did in 30 minutes and still got A's on them. Tests are online and are harder than they need to be, but you can find pretty much everything on quizlet. 10/10 would recommend her if you need an easy 3 hour credit.
Dexter was cool. She tried to make the class be more talkative, but in this day and age, it's kinda hard to do. Makes you read quite a bit and it isn't that interesting, but you can get through it. Only complaint: RARELY responded to emails (she was just very busy I guess).
She is probably the most understanding and caring professor I've had at A&M. I took the class as an easy A, and while there are a lot of assignments an A is definitely attainable. My only complaint is it takes her a while to reply to emails but that's about it.
The syllabus had some changes mid semester because classes went online due to COVID19. This is a good class to take, lots of readings, although getting up to go to this 8 am was sometimes a struggle, the class keeps you awake. Take notes because it will probably be on the exams, she is a good caring professor, team work required! not an easy A tho
Prof Dex is amazing. I've had her for several classes and I'd continue to take her again. So great, always willing to help you if you reach out to her. Picks assignments and readings and videos that students like. Take any class from her and it will be great!
I enjoyed Professor Dexter's class. I found it to be very easy as long as you took the time to go back and watch the recorded Zoom lectures and looked over the modules on Canvas. We had a group podcast project over a topic of our choice and overall, her tests were manageable. Try to read the textbook and just keep up with the material!
Professor Dexter was so nice and super interesting during lectures. Participation was a bit lackluster, but she was super energetic and tried really hard to make the current situation better. The tests were fairly easy. Just make sure to read the textbook and, hear me out, pay attention to the lectures.
She is the best! I love this prof and this class so much. Take this course if you have the chance!
She is so sweet, cares about your mental health. This class is about how activism is an art form. There is weekly homework and a quiz every month. There's a final and a group project that you work on all semester. She zooms the classes so you don't have to go. Everything is open note.
A genuinely nice person who cares about her students. All tests and quizzes are open note and she is a good grader. If you have the chance to take her do it!
Super easy class. Went on zoom to most of the lectures and ended with a 97. She is a good prof who cares about her students. Overall, would recommend this class.
She is so kind. the class material was literally so easy- i never had to do anything for the class. She is super accommodating when you have issues regarding grading, personal life, or conflicts within your group. Would totally take her again.
Loved her! Exams were open-note and easy to get an A. She cares more about you enjoying what you are learning than the quizzes and exams. I would absolutely take another class with her because she is passionate about what she teaches.
Prof is amazing and really enjoys what she teaches. Lectures are fun, engaging, and interesting. Tests and assignments are all on Canvas, and all open note, open powerpoints, open textbook. Very easy to get an A if you just show up to class and listen even a little.
Perf 200. Online class. 4 timed exams. Weeks quizzes were untimed. Put in the work and you will do fine.
One of the best professors Ive had since being at TAMU. Extremely nice and understanding. Really cares about her students and the subject matter at hand. I would take 5 more classes with her if I could.
Tries to make class as accommodating as possible. One major group project for the semester but you pick your topic and decide on an activist action together. I never rly tried for HW and everything was open note, + txtbks were free. Very easy class and she is very nice and welcoming, would love to have her again!
I liked her class a lot! I learned more then I would have expected and she did a really good job of putting together the modules. The assignments were weekly but not a crazy workload. She'll also work with you to make sure that you get the grades and help you deserve. I'd 100% take her class!
She is a very nice and understanding prof. The lecture is not mandatory and quizzes are open notes. The class itself is annoying because it is heavily based on an ongoing group project. not much homework or quizzes.
Very simple online class. Packbacks every week, 4 exams, weekly quizzes, one large project, and a performance review. If you just do the work, you get an A no problem. everything is either in the textbook or the info provided in the weekly modules.
She is a super nice lady. the class is not hard just VERY heavy on group work. the quizzes are weighted extremely heavily so beware of that. My only complaint about the prof is that she is IMPOSSIBLE to reach via email or canvas. I have reached out numerous times and never received a response.
Good prof and easy class. Do the assigned material, turn in your work, and get an easy A. It is three credit hours, so don't expect it to be a blow-off class. You still need to put in the work. The class felt a little disorganized, but it could've been worse. The professor responded to my emails and questions. Highly recommend Dr. Dexter.
Very caring and kind professor! She is extremely intuitive and attentive in the way she teaches. She assigns a lot of work. Do every single one because I only missed two assignments (both discussion reports) and barely made an A. You will need to read the textbooks to have a better understanding of the concepts, but they are online and free.
Good professor and easy class. I would definitely take this class again. Online class that mainly consisted of weekly discussion posts and easy quizzes.
Dexter is the most caring prof I've had at A&M. She listens to the class and adjusts to our needs (like if a due date needs to be pushed back). Accepts late work. Very passionate and super interesting lectures. Great class for Cultural Discourse credit. Livestreamed lectures (for those who were sick), but didn't post recorded lectures.
Could not recommend more. Very considerate and understanding. Easy A.
This was the 1st online class I've taken thru TAMU and I hope they're all like this! Exams were fairly straight-forward & often reused questions from quizzes. Packbacks were repetitive, but easy. The only frustrating thing was the group project- being online made it difficult to communicate w/ group members initially which was stressful.
Absolute heart of gold, very responsive and gave lots of positive feedback. Loved her class and learned a fair bit from it too. Nothing too hard, just a weekly quiz and Packback that are both easy to get full credit (Plus a group project and a few tests). If you read the info she provides, you will get a lot out of this class.
work is easy, but more than expected. 1000 word performance paper, 5 500 word journals (pretty much completion based), weekly packbacks and quizzes. tests were quiz questions plus new ones, and a short answer response about a play. 1 easy group project.
Class was insightful but attendance was low due to it not really being necessary. Tried to make things engaging but lots of outside prep work to have conversations in class (most people didn't do it). One major group project where you have to perform an activist activity in CSTAT (can be hard to coordinate). Good class if interested/need credit.
For this being a creative arts credit, there was A LOT of work. It's asynchronous, but you have a packback and a quiz every week. Additionally, there are 4 exams and 5 "ICD journals", which are 500-word essays through Packback's website. You also have to write an essay on a performance as well as do a group project. It is easy work, but it adds up.
WAY TOO MUCH WORK for a creative art credit...took a huge chunk of time out of my semester doing this class. 11 Quizzes,13 packbacks, 5x500-word essays on packback, 1x1000-word essay over a performance of your choice, 4 exams (MC and 1 essay question, last is cumulative & longer), 1 group project. The work is easy, but there's just way too much.
The first week of class you get overwhelmed with all the stuff you have to read and write, but you quickly realize that she is so nice that you can get away with not reading a single thing. Whatever you submit goes, so this class felt like a waste of time. A lot of the content is just common sense, and she tried her best to keep the class engaged.
Her online course was pretty easy. Had to do quite a bit of writing, and there was 4 tests and an essay over a performance you saw. If you need an easy credit, then take this course.
This class is interesting, but slightly heavy on reading and work for a creative arts class. Professor Dexter is caring but a bit slow on the grades. There are essays, creative activism assignments, and group projects as well as quizzes in this class which make it fun and engaging.
Dexter is so sweet! She cares so much about her students. That being said, if you're taking 223 for a blow-off class, try to get the other prof. Dexter wrote the class and cares about the reading A LOT more. Still an easy A and a fun course :)
A heavier creative arts course, many videos and readings paired with frequent Packpacks, quizzes, and ICD Journal assignments as well as the exams. Manageable, seemed like a lot of work even for an online core credit class. Rarely responded to emails. Grading was pretty easy, as long as you do the work you should get an A
I had her online for THEA 200, and it was an easy class. I had an A throughout. The syllabus is very clear, there are discussions and quizzes every week, and 4 tests. There is one group project. She is a easy grader, as long as you follow the rubric. Take her if you have the option to!
Professor Dexter's PERF200 class was an easy creative arts credit. Lots of writing assignments, but the work was manageable. Unstuck AI was a big help for test prep.
Professor Dexter assigns very heavy projects back to back with barely any instruction and expects you to complete them in a very timely and accurate to what-she-wants manner. It is very project heavy with heavy workload and little time between due dates. She also grades harshly for giving minimal instruction.
Overall I would say Dexter is a great prof! She's pretty reasonable in general and seems to really care about her students. I will say that the instructions for most projects were not very clear and there was disorganization and inefficiency with lecture time. Not the easiest A of all time, but if you pay attention and do the work you'll be fine.
The class is fun, and if you show up to lab and do what you're supposed to you'll make an A. Dexter is very understanding of people who are beginners so she takes time to explain, answer questions, and bring in experts. Most of her instructions were pretty clear and you're graded by a few projects that you complete with a partner usually in class.
