Her classes are really fun and the assignments are interesting. She is a hard grader and makes you think a lot about the material. I learned alot, and she was really helpful answering questions and working with me to improve my writing.
this teacher sucks; she's unreasonable and assigns the most difficult assignments. take someone else if possible.
One person has said her assignments are difficult, but the class is really fun and the material is intresting. I learned more in this class than I did in 1A.
great teacher, definitely not easy work! but if you are here to LEARN rather than just plain and simply 'getting through with classes', then she's the one for you!!
I havent even started the quarter but just by having and online chat with this professor trying to add this course, she has been very helpful and nice about it. Very easy to talk to and approachable. I am sure I will enjoy the quarter if I decide that this class works out for me this winter 2006 quarter.
the best first day ever, no books to buy, fun class activity identifying logos and advertising. I very excited about this friendly teacher!
I've been in the online class 4 wks now and this is the nicest most helpful teacher I have ever had. She sends you personal emails to encourage and remind you about upcoming assignments and IMs with you when your confused. Who does that?!! She focuses evrything on advertising, but the assignments and discussion are cool. thumbs way up!
really helpful and honest. She really seems to want to help her students

She's sweet and can be helpful, however I don't think the online hybrid environment helped me improve my writing. Take the time to get an english class with a classroom environment, you won't regret it. But if you're looking to just pass with a lousy A, go for this class. I got an A in the class, but wished I learned more.

I never post comments about a teacher but I had to with Mrs. Stolpe. She's such a caring teacher about you and your work. I was a bit skeptical to take the online hybrid class but as long as you follow her syllabus you should WILL be fine. Post your work on the online site so she throw suggestions. I plan to take E1A with her. Funny and Cool.
Rebecca is awesome! She's compassionate and understanding. Extremely helpful and easily reachable via email or message board. I highly recommend her online class! And she doesn't use textbooks, so you have nothing to buy.
Her online course is great. There's no text books and if you need help, she's right there. Just turn in the essays and participate in the chat rooms and you will get a great grade.
her english 1 class was real easy so i took her for ewrt2 was a bit tough...more assignments, a textbook to follow, and lots of posts...so be prepared to work hard. but she is awesome and very sweet. veyr helpful too.
Very well organised class. However you really need to make sure that you follow everything on line. Turn in your papers on time, do the discussions in the class cafe and make sure you do your journals. Overall an easy class but at the same time you learn a lot. I like her, may be the most enjoyable on line experience I've ever had.
during this quarter, I promise I dont wanna take any online class again (learn nothing in "this" class).
Took her for british literature. Great teacher, has good interesting, engaging discussion questions for reading. Very eager to give extra help. You can tell she puts lots of thought into her lesson plans. Her class is organized and easy to understand.
shes very nice and helpful. it takes her a while to get back to you if need help but her class was a fun experience all the way. I got an A- in her class and it's not that hard. All you have to do is put a little time into it thats all. 3 essays and a group project. (The essays arent the hardest in the world)
She was great! Easy and nice and class had an interesting subject focus!
I learned a lot in this class and found the professor helpful and funny. Some novels were boring, but she is good at comparing them to things we can relate to today.
Took the online class, great professor, fun class!
Take Rebecca if u can. I took her hybrid class. Everything is really straightforward and the online work is simple and saves u having to go to class two extra days. She's also fair on essay grading. TAKE HER!!!
She is a really great teacher, and very VERY helpful! She will answer any questions you have and even puts time aside to help you. You can tell she loves what she is doing which makes the learning experience very good.
Took her online class, pretty easy. 3-4 essays, a quiz almost every week, and reading discussions. Great professor, very friendly and approachable. I'd recommend her to anyone who needs to take EWRT 1A.
Took her online class. Pretty simple, but towards the end got to be a lot of reading and writing. Stay on top of the class or it can get overwhelming. She's good about emailing you back. Added bonus, you don't have to buy a book; all her reading is online!! Good class to take if you don't have time to attend one on campus.
A few students in class felt she was passive aggressive. Mrs Rebecca was friendly, and has such a pretty, wide smile, but stopped using it halfway through the qtr. It was clear she did not wish to come off as a pushover, so held back on niceness. It was a shame; I had been saying she was a fav. prof. There should have been more activities in-class.
Let see.. class is what you make of it. easy ride for some, but at same time very challenging for others seeking more than a grade. Instructor provides genuine and thoughtful feedbacks and encourages office hours. More than willing to help, not to get yourself a better grade but to make you a better writer. A+ teacher with great smile.
I took the summer online course. We had to do 33+ discussion posts, 6 current event responses, 2 essays, and 2 quizzes for the summer quarter. The course was organized and the teacher was very helpful and understanding. She grades a bit hard on essays. Quiz questions can be confusing. Write well and work hard and the A will not be far from reach.
Great class. If your looking for a challenging class this is it. Great poem reading and the teacher really knows her stuff. Read and you will do fine..
I'm a 3.6 GPA student. I felt that she graded my final presentation too hard. I would have liked to see the presentations that other students made so that I could compare the grade I received to their's. I honestly got the vibe that she didn't like the things that I was writing about because I was trying to be creative and political. Oh well
She's such a lovely and nice professor. She gets back to email very quick. Cares about her students. Fair grader. I definitely gonna take her class again.
I took Professor Liljenstolpe's online EWRT2 class. Her class was very interesting. She makes you take about 6 quizzes which is based on the reading. It is also mandatory to keep an online journal which accounts for a portion of your grade. She is very helpful in responding to questions also. Take her!
A arrogant teacher, not replay email when you need help. even you can not argue with her because she will ignore you.
Easy grader and very pleasant. I learned a lot about poetry from her.
She is overall a good teacher, nice, patient and willing to help. The only problem is that she was informed of this online class the last moment so she is always behind schedule. She went to Yosemite for 2 weeks during the class and her best friends encountered some miserable lost later. If possible, I will take her face-to-face class in EWRT2.
I like this teacher a lot. She is very patient and makes class very fun. She is always willing to help. It is important to check Catalyst daily. 3 essays and 1 group project at the end.
Took her hybrid class. She is very understanding and straightforward. Not to mention shes a very easy grader on essays. You have to be self disciplined to succeed though because their are a lot of things to do weekly. Overall great class.
Took her EWRT2 online class. Materials are pretty straightforward! There are weekly quizes based on reading, even you have wrong answer, you can keep trying and get credit! No Midterm. 3 Essays + 1 Final Project (Presentation). She is nice lady and has helped me a lot in office hours. Easy grader. Got an A at the end easily.
I'm not a great english student but she made it so easy for me to get a solid A. All you have to do is work with her on papers if you're unsure and even then the papers were short and relatively easy even for me! my friend took the same class dif teacher said it was horrible. WOULD RECOMMEND!!! *Not self paced* all texts provided
I really enjoy Her as a teacher. I have taken an online EWRT class and on campus and both have been very thoughtful and current. you will have many novels to read and essays to write, but they are all very doable even if you don't happen to be able to read it all. Also I missed a few classes and just emailed her ahead of time and she was understand
I was never fond of english but she made it bearable, dare I say, interesting. She gives pretty good feedback and pretty quickly. 1pg paper per section then a final paper. It was online and she was extremely easy to contact. She definitely made me a better writer. recommend. she gives you the supplies free! :D
So hard to contact. Always fall behind schedule. Tough grader.
grade so hard. Quizzes are so tricky. Avoid her at all cost.
I took prof. Lijenstolpe for 1A and it was by far the best English class I have taken. I loved how her readings were about philosophers, it made writing the papers so fun. She is a fair grader and sweet teacher. I highly recommend taking her class.
Very inspiring professor. She wants her students to think and contribute their best. I left her class not only able to write good essays, but motivated to help others and be a better person.
I took Ms. Board for Linguistics and was unprepared for how hard it was. She was very nice and checked in with me to help me understand the chapters. She also put us into study support groups. Overall, it was a hard class but she was quick to respond when I needed help and I got through the class with an A. She's awesome!
f you want to take an online class because you have a busy schedule, good luck. She posts the new homework on Monday NIGHT, not morning so you have to wait until 10pm to see the new assignments. There are discussions due Wednesday, rough draft Thursday, Quiz due by Saturday and Final Reflection due on Sunday. You will not be able to work ahead.
She is amazing teacher. I will take her class again next quarter.
Professor Rebecca Liljenstolpe is a wonderful teacher for EWRT 200 class. She gives you many tools to prepared for the next level. She is also help you to proofread your papers if you have question about it. I have learned many thing s in her class for this quarter. She have also let us a week no class , so that we can go EWRT center.
I've taken other online courses and her class is by far the most inordinately complicated I've ever taken. She posts the coursework late each week. If you have a busy schedule, don't take this class. She's one of the teachers who don't realize people also take other classes, have assignments, and have lives other than just taking her class.
Fairly easy but lags heavily on grading. Took the online class: weekly forum posts, 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, group project for final. Not great at responding to emails.
Hands down the worst professor I have ever had at De Anza!! she NEVER replied to emails in the fast-paced summer online session!! She rarely involved in the instructor's office forum where you might find many confused students (like me) asking questions but only got replied a lot later than submission due. Take her if you want to hurt your grade :)
Make sure you participate on the discussions 5 times a week for full participation points! Enjoyed the videos on random philosophical topics, however she was kind of slow in grading and didn't leave meaningful feedback. I'm not a good writer, but I ended up with A- simply by making sure I answered all sections of the prompt.
I learned more in this class than in all classes I have taken at DA. She is so inspiring. So different. Some have complained about slow grading and missed emails but seriously, she has 60 students, 6 weeks, & grades our essays every week! I got thoughtful feedback when I asked for it. If you complained, you totally missed the point of the class.
Professor Liljenstolpe is great as she taught me a lot of philosophical theories that can help me improve my life. We had a small lecture, video, forum, essay, readings, and quiz every 2 weeks. She takes quite some time to grade papers and reply to emails as she has many students. Her essay grading is fair and gives good feedback to help.
Professor Liljenstolpe is clear with what she wants her students to do and what it takes to excel in her class. Other than a few missed emails and some trouble using canvas, her class opened my eyes to the world of philosophy. It may be hard to have an A in her class, but by making sure to answer the prompt completely, you can get an A- or better.
I only wrote tough grader since each point deducted hurts the grade a lot. There were 5 short essays and one long essay. I learned so much in this class, the topics for each essay is relatable to everyone, and it makes you really think about life and happiness. You get a lot from this class and it is definitely worth taking.
I have never encountered such an exceptional instructor like Ms. Liljenstolpe. Her lectures are very inspirational; your opinion always matters. Applying Socrates philosophy of happiness has molded me into being a better individual towards others bc of this class.
Very few points make the class much harder than it should be. IMO, writing format is odd. Personally, my friends and I gained from her inflating all the grades by giving a ton of perfect scores because she ran out of time to grade everything. DO THE DISCUSSION - THEY ARE A FREE 90 POINTS.
Rebecca is a wonderful teacher, and you can tell she actually cares. She has a more unconventional approach to teaching which makes for interesting subject matter. She still covers the essentials for understanding writing but also makes you think with the papers you have to write. I will be taking her class for English 2A!
I loved her philosophy centered lessons and prompts bc they make you reflect on your own life rather than analyze old books you don't relate to (writing about yourself is always easier). But, she was pretty disorganized when posting online and is a VERY slow grader. She's harsh on points and I wouldn't recommend her if you're not a native speaker.
EASY A. Took this class as a GE, The homework is a lot but it's graded on completion! Just turn it in and you get an A! Do discussions everyweek and respond. Quizzes once in a while but just search online and use common sense. Theres a final project with a group but as long as it looks like you put in work she'll give you A. Sucks at responding tho
I took Professor Rebecca's online EWRT 2 course. It is really unique! She puts a lot of emphasis on being a CREATIVE (not just critical) thinker, and there are many Pro-Con topics she won't let u write about because she says they are not creative. Yes she's a slow grader, but the feedback is helpful. Just email her if u want your paper back sooner.
She cares about who you are as a person and wants you to think about what you will do with your education. Readings were interesting and our class discussions were cool. She tells a lot of funny stories but connects them somehow. Papers are short but there are a lot of them. She is fair. Quizzes are easy if you do the reading.
Her class was super boring, and content wise it wasnt very clear what she wanted from you. Although she gave feedback on drafts, even if you fixed them it wouldnt improve your grade. Super slow at grading and always behind on work she needed to do. Never posted assignments that were needed and it was hard to contact her. Overall a terrible class
Worst professor ever. Was always behind with the assignments and due dates. Slow grader as well. She would give you feedback like hours before the assignment is due, etc. Never take her!
hard grader, not recommended. decent work load but overall wants a specific format and details. not an easy A. boring taking her class online. I would recommend going in person with someone else. discussions are too much. unnecessary readings. readings are boring, nothing was fun about this class, teacher gave feedback, not positive or helpful
She doesn't give anyone A. Its much of a philosophy class. She is kinda good and caring. Be ready you gotta print a lot of stuff. Two weeks once we have to write an essay.
I'd say she is a hard grader like most others say so because it was hard to get full credit. But if you work for it, you'll likely to end up with an A. She's nice, caring, and down to earth. I also loved her topic. It was about happiness and the purpose of education (philosophical), which I genuinely enjoyed!
This teacher was great up until the quarter ended. She grades extremely slow, so you don't have a chance to make something up or try to get a better grade on it. Her instructions are not very clear. Even missing one assignment will drop your grade more than 10%.
The assignments are on a credit or no credit scale and the quizzes are fairly easy if you read the book. I never got an email response back from her for help, but the class was overall interesting and easy.
If you're interested in linguistics and language studies, this class will be right up your alley. If you're just taking the class just cause you might be overwhelmed from all the reading since it can be somewhat complicated if you're unable to grasp the concepts. The class is weekly homework that are from the book that isn't hard but tedious.
Fantastic professor! She was very clear what the expectations for the class would be early on. Your essays have to be exceptional to get a perfect score, but paying attention to her lectures, keeping up with the canvas module, and carefully following instructions will get you a high A. She really cares about her students' creative development.
I loved this class! Based on a video series about what it means to live a good life and some super short readings she pairs with each module. She wants creative, individual thinking and encourages you to ponder big questions. I would say she's kinda the typical nutty professor. She has gobs of wisdom and inspires you but is a little overwhelmed.
Took her poetry class during pandemic. Read/post and it's easy. Not a hard grader at all. She just wanted us to love art and find hope and beauty and not stress. You have to do a poetry reading on zoom but she makes it easy and encourages you. She's an amazing person and I learned so much from her lectures and class. Would recommend!
Not your usual english class. We wrote short reflection papers every other week. Some grammar quizzes but super easy if you just read and study. You will write and think a lot but it's not the usual boring stuff. She responds quickly if you email her just not on the wekends.
I took Rebecca's class during the pandemic. There was a book she asked us to buy but all of the poems in it I was able to find online. Great course design in Canvas. Clear instructions. Relevant and updated materials/videos. One midterm, a super easy presentation. Lots of discussion posts. Honestly tho this class was a life savor. She was awesome.
Very kind, you can tell that she wants to help. Only take if you are open to learning philosophy along the way since that's what she assigns videos/readings on instead of novels/textbooks. Non-required Zoom meetings every Monday, but I would go at least once for tips/activities in preparation for papers. 1 self-reflection paper every 2 weeks.
She gives up to 20 points extra credit, which you can get in a variety of ways. I found it helpful because she does not give out very many As on papers. She does add extra office hours and even did appointments on a holidy. Zoom conference with her to go over your paper and she explain and help. I liked talking to her. She is very sweet.
4 essays and 1 timed writing. Follow the prompts, quote from the readings and you will do well on them. The class is very organized, you know when post/quiz/paper is due. She gives good feedback on the essays. I learned a lot from her lecture videos and PowerPoints. There are weekly discussions on the readings and a zoom hang out.
I took her for 1A and am taking EWRT 2 with her now. We have a weekly gathering on zoom thats chill. They are not required but very helpful because she offers tips that have really improved my writing a lot. Quizzes are easy and open book. Papers are interesting and not like boring essays you've written before. She is one of the best!
I learned more about what it means to write well In her class than in all four years of high school. She taught me how to break bad habits and showed all of us how to become more imaginative, interesting storytellers. Finally I look forward to writing because she made me feel so good about what I was doing. Go to the zooms! Shes awesome.
Professor Board's "Monsters & Misfits: Gothic Storytelling in an Age of Turmoil, Dis-ease and Contagion" class is very interesting. She provides all the readings in PDF and the two novels are online. Mostly weekly posts and a group project then research. Frankenstein, Dracula, 3 movies by Guillermo del Toro. Skim the readings and you'll be fine.
As an english teacher, she did her job. We didn't follow a novel and wrote essays about the pandemic. She's really sweet via zoom. The only thing i wish was better was her instructions. She needs to be more specific about what she wants her papers to look like so it won't be easy to miss points. She also sometimes misses your questions in class
Please just save your time and take someone else. It's week 6 and she hasn't even graded anything past the syllabus quiz. I think every person in the class has emailed her asking a question about our papers and she hasn't responded to anyone. Just take someone else don't mess around and take her its just so bad.
This professor is not the best, but she is very kind. She gives good feedback when you email her and her in class assignments are much more simpler than you would think. Her essays are a bit unclear, but her grading is flexible. However, she is probably one of the best EWRT2 classes you can take. Good luck!
She challenges you to think and values creativity and she will tell you if your boring, but in a nice way. Instructions were clear to me. She provides a list of what you need to get credit on an assignment and honestly if you don't get credit, you must not have read it. Not rocket science. It is an English class but a good one!
I've never had an English class like this before. Professor Liljenstolpe will teach you how to be a better writer. She isn't going to make marks all over your essay but she will inspire you to be imaginative and to take creative risks and tell your story. Focus on current events and what you really care about and you will do well.
Her grading system is different from others. She is too picky and does not give clear instructions. Her modules are difficult to understand and lots of workload. Three discussion posts per week and an essay due every 3 weeks. Her deadlines are very chaotic. This week, her essay is due on Monday midnight and next week on Wednesday at 10 PM.
If you take her make a schedule of the due dates, they are a little weird. Her guidelines can be hard to understand, so take time to read them and ask questions. she is super accessible and caring. There are 3-4 essays, which are all on relevant topics fairly easy, make sure you take time to actually do them and don't wait last minute.
She's unlike any professor I have had. She will literally show you what makes English teachers cringe when they read your essay and then show you how to be more creative and unique. Prof Liljenstolpe can be a little kooky when she gets excited, but the way she explains writing is truly amazing. She inspired me to like writing again.
Class sounded interesting & was excited for it, but ended up dropping it to save me stress. Professor is kind & caring. She provides a pdf of the text. However, material and content heavy, lots of reading. She assigns 2-3 in depth discussion posts a week, they lock after a week, she won't reopen discussions or accept late work. Easy to fall behind.
This class on gothic literature was well thought out, but definitely challenging. Make sure to complete all work by deadline. Essays require a lot of evidence, and prompts are very long and somewhat confusing. Heavy reading at first (can skim) + a lot of movies. last essay cr/no cr, 95% is an A. completely async class but theres a group project
This professor is kind, and understanding. If you're sincere and put in a good amount of effort, you will do well in the class. There is a lot of discussions and readings assigned. Easy to fall behind, but as long as you stay on top of your work you will get full credit for the discussions, granted it was written by you and you didn't use ChatGPT.
Took her for ELIT46A. She's a sweet and passionate human being but not the best professor. Goes off track often and rarely talks about the text. That's fine, except this was a medieval literature class, so I would've liked to have gotten into the text. Long convos about herself & personal stories. No essays; just standard survey exams.
She's an amazing storyteller and got me interested in medieval history. She does a lot of lecture and gets so excited talking about the reading but it made the class really fun. I wanted to come even if I didn't finish, and if you are confused she provides lecture notes to explain everything. Just come to class and you will learn alot!
Lots of reading and discussion posts and one research paper. Prof is sweet and gives clear instructions. Attend or watch the recorded optional zoom workshop on Mondays where she goes over helpful examples. The novels were all interesting but the reading can be intense. Do it tho!! She cracks down on AI but hang with her and you will learn a lot.
Interesting!! Mostly reading (banned books) and emphasis on MLA research techniques. Quizzes can be hard so don't flake. If you just do all the assignments you will ace.
Her class is engaging and she genuinely cares about student success. The workload can be challenging, but with effort and using resources like Unstuckstudy, you'll excel. Highly recommend taking her course.
I think I suck at writing but she helped get me on the right track. I don't like the subject, but I will miss her class and her cute little dog.
So far fascinating and she knows her stuff. It's a survey course so we don't get to spend much time on the reading, but she provides detailed study guides. Midterm and final. No paper. Several pages of reading, but to be expected for a lit class so you'll need to manage your time and study her notes and all the cool links she provides. Have fun!
She's super nice in class but hard to reach otherwise. The class structure is a MESS and her lectures don't help since she rambles. I had fun and her whimsy made it enjoyable, but studying for exams was difficult (even just finding what I needed to read was). She gives lots of EC which is nice, though she's not really a harsh grader to begin with.
I appreciated her awareness of how strange the readings were gonna be considering they were from the middle ages and I ended up surprisingly enjoying everything we read and got an A! Try to take the two day a week lit classes tho because we needed way more time to talk. Very sweet professor and fair grader.
Harsh grader. Heavy on individuality especially when it comes to essays. Gave me half credit on a writing assignment because I wrote something similar to half of the class when it was the only answer to the prompt given to us. Feedback was discouraging.
Easy if you just bring your journal and do the writing. Minimal homework but lots of in class activities so you do need to attend class to get those points. In the end you have a solid personal statement and all of your UC essays are done. Appreciate that her essays are not boring but something we need for transfer. She helped me out a lot.
