not organized, loses papers, not very helpful with out of class time
I never thought the topic of human sexuality could suck so much, or even at all. She sure is talented.
I thought this would be a fun elective, but I was so wrong. Human sexuality should be fun and interesting, instead it is full of horrible factoids that I never want to think of again.
An earnest woman, its obvious that portions of the subject matter are interesting to her. Sadly, her lecture is rarely more than paraphrasing the text and bogged with statistics. Her focus is on heterosexual dysfunction. Lots of pop quizes, and a strange daily journal are required. I think she might be teaching this because no one else would.
Women Psychology. Boring, dry way of presenting material. Fery feminist-like approach to everything. TONS of papers, by the end of the semester you'll be close to going crazy. Not helpful at all, can't cooperate with students. Awful experience... Don't repeat my mistakes!!!
Dr. Bosek is helpful and concerned about students. Lectures are interesting.
She is an awesome professor with a great sense of humor. I learned a lot in this class.
Great Class! Instructor is helpful and interesting.
Interesting class. Good lectures.
Creates interesting and stimulating class atmosphere by encouraging discussion (w/out making it awkward!) Very knowledgable and interested in subject b/c of work background. Is very helpful and sympathetic to student's needs. Highly recommended!!
Interesting class.
Interesting class.
Fun introductory class
Great overview on community psychology. Would highly recommend this prof.
Fun class. Knows the topic. Interesting speakers and videos.
Very fun and interesting class. A lot of lecture and movies. Encourages class discussion. Attendance is important. She teaches a lot of things not in the book.
Great class! Would highly recommend.
Fun class. Interesting.
Don't do it. I was miserable all semester.
A pretty good class, though some of the assignments were more high school than college. I didn't touch the text and got an A. Some of her views are very narrow, though she thinks she is open-minded. She can also be moody in class. Based on personal experience, I don't recommend voicing your disagreements, no matter how polite you are.
always starts class early with assignments due at beginning of class. even if you are on time, if she started already then you are too late to turn in anything. cant keep her personal values out of classroom. moody and slightly arrogant. info from class is great/interesting but not difficult. doesnt utilize blackboard. stubborn and unforgiving.
The information provided in class is interesting and in-class materials are helpful. However, keep your personal life out of class. Personal opinions that oppose hers are not discussed/debated and are barely tolerated. However, many assignments involve a small section for personal responce/reaction to material involved in homework.
Also, nearly 95% of her examples in Human Sexuality are exclusively heterosexual. In a class that discusses all sexuality, I was disappointed in her inability to consider homosexuals as an appropriate example group to discuss.
Wonderful class. Prof. Bosek has a lot of professional experience which adds to the class. Would highly recommend.
Had this instructor for several classes. Fun and interesting. Tests are easy if you take notes in class and read the book.
Interesting. Exams are on the book and lectures.
Shows interesting videos. Need to keep up on assignments and reading to get a good grade.
Treats students like adults. Very fair and consistent in grading. Highly recommend.
Really knows developmental psychology. Positive slant on aging.
Exams rely heavily on the textbook, lot of writing but not difficult to handle media shown is interesting & relevant. Dr. Bosek has a lot of knowledge but she can be moody. DO NOT show up late to class, assignments due @ the start of class, once she starts lecture DO NOT drop off papers or pick up lecture notes.
Her teaching style doesn't really engage the interest. She seems somewhat opinionated and staunch, but I suppose that's probably a natural result of her work with sex offenders. All in all I would skip this class, but I suppose if you missed high school sex-ed this would probably be a good idea to avoid getting you teen pregnant.
I don't know how she is qualified to work as a teacher/in human services.Everything I learned was entirely self-taught.Additional materials were marginally helpful (ex: a 20 year old movie that was not relevant to subject matter).Class could be a web course. In class meetings were not beneficial. She was unapproachable & grouchy a lot of the time. :(
Dr. Bosek is awesome. She knows the topic and lectures are interesting. Very helpful if you have a problem.
Excellent class. Many ways to earn points. Important to attend class and read the book. Good guest speakers.
Bosek is rude and disrespectful. If you're the quiet type, maybe you'll get along with her. Communication with her is one way - her way. She doesn't listen and is unwilling to consider anyone else's point of view. Material presented in lecture contradicts book. Disorganized and grouchy all the time. Avoid this teacher, if you can!!!
Easy class to get an A in if you attend class and read the book. She expects students to act like adults which is refreshing. Recommend!
Great class. Gives useful examples. Highly recommend!
The class is relatively easy if you attend and read. However, Bosek is two-faced, she'll be irrate, rude and disrespectful one day and polite the next, which I think affects her grading as well. She often responds to questions with irritation, is frequently condescending, and likes to yell at students for petty offenses. Avoid this teacher.
Class information is interesting, readings are relevant. However, attendance is mandatory to get a good grade even though in-class time is essentially a waste. Got more information outside of class. Very rude and grouchy but some days will attempt to be polite, though it clearly pains her to be nice. Best to shut up & show up early to pass w/ A.
This class was required for my major. Attendance is not mandatory. I found Prof. Bosek to be extremely interesting and helpful.
Recommend. Great class.
Interesting class. There is a research paper involved. If you follow the instructions, it is easy to get a good grade. Will take other classes from her.
Very entertaining and funny.
She expects a ton of work and is not very clear on what she wants for assignments. Her classes are interesting, but its the material, not her.
Avoid this teacher. But if you must take her for human sexuality or some such, here are some tips: Gays have made a sinful choice. Pornography is disgusting and leads to violence. Sex should not happen outside of marriage. Just let these three tenets show through in your work and you and she will get along fine.
Strict teacher. Decent class. 5 activity journals due every 2-3 weeks, 3 papers, 1 vitae, 2 quizzes. Attend class for lecture notes and participation pts. You also need to submit 2 performance evaluations that you get graded on. To get a good grade submit all your work, complete the hr requirement and attend classes.
One of my favorite classes. Very entertaining. Lectures and assignments are not always from the book so must attend class to get an A.
professor thinks very highly of herself. if there is a misunderstanding between the student and the professor, she will blame the student. an easy course if you attend and stay on her good side. just not fond of her as a person.
Follow the syllabus for the class and you should not have a problem. It is easy to get an A if you attend class and are prepared. Fun lectures.
Dr. Bosek is a straightforward person. SHe has obviously had many past bad experiences with students and has had to make all these rules to compensate i.e. don't walk in front of her if she has already started lecturing! Study the syllabus, do the extra credit and be there every class and you'll get an A.
Must attend every class, she is extremely strick during any activity in class. Study and understand the material and make sure you and her have basically the same views and I'm sure you'll be fine.
Great class. Attend class and read the book, and you will get a good grade. Fun.
Take this class! You won't regret it.
This woman is absolutely the most difficult unhelpful and plain old rude professor I have ever had. I am an A student and worked very hard in her class, regardless she refuses to help even her hardworking students. She takes herself and her 100 level class way too seriously and honestly be fired or become a drill sargeant. Dont take her!!!
Dr. Bosek is an excellent professor. Will take her for other classes in the future!
She is strict and clearly states states what she wants from her students and how she wants it. Work is doable if you stay on track with reading and class attendance. makes material very fun and interesting and encourages students to share life experiences. Overall stay on her good side and this class is worth showing up for.
Dr Bosek was an excellent professor, she was very clear with what she wanted from students and when she wanted it. She stuck to her course schedule very well and was always very helpful and made the class very interesting.
Awesome class, perfect curriculum combined with the perfect professor. Thoroughly enjoyed this class. It was one of the very first college courses I took 10yrs after HS and received an A+. Not saying it is easy though. Lots of in-class group discussions. highly recommended.
Class started today and I came straight home and dropped it. She treats it more like a high school, all hw is very time consuming. Not to mention, if you are absent, your absence MUST be excused.. if you're sick, a doctor must sign something saying you were sick. The workload is outrageous for this class considering its an elective. Don't do this!!
She seems very nice when she's teaching, but if you make one false move in the class, SHE WILL CALL YOU OUT ON IT, which I think is very unprofessional. It's almost like high school in a way. If she must correct someone, I think she could be nicer about it. Other than that, just do your work and study. The material is interesting.
She's an alright professor. If you're even one minute late, don't even bother coming, she'll get really huffy-puffy. SHE WILL CALL YOU OUT IF YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG. She has her kind moments, but be careful; it's easy to get on her bad side. Readings aren't required but a lot of test questions come from the readings, so at least skim the chapters
She is rude and often goes off on tangents about her personal life. And if you walk into class even 1 minute late you will get called out in front of everyone. Her lectures are very difficult for my learning style and she's incredibly rude.
Excellent class and instructor. Professor has high expectations. She treats students like adults and expects them to act like it. Would definitely take this professor again.
I was not sure what to expect from this class. Professor knows the topic and made class interesting.
I absolutely hated this class. I liked the material but Dr. Bosek is not someone I would want to ever take again. When asked why we had to do a specific thing on a paper her response was, "because I said so." I would not recommend taking a class from her.
Class was alright. Tests were pretty easy but the quizzes she gave to ensure you attend class since its from readings were annoying. Notebook (portfolio) was annoying too and unrealistic since students had other classes, family, life etc so having to attend an event for notebook entries was a hindrance. Tardiness is frowned upon
Bosek is a good lady. She is fussy, but not mean. Her online course was awesome! Being in-class for her lectures, however, is very rule-oriented and kind of exhausting. Don't disrupt the class and do NOT text... she will snap at you, and it will be embarrassing! As far as the coursework, her class is very do-able. Just know that she's strict.
Prof Bosek is Awesome! I wish she wasn't leaving. I will miss her. She creates memories for the students and gives great life lessons.
Bosek loves the sound of her own voice. She goes on many tangents, is unreasonably rude to anybody who is late, texts, raises their hand, or walks in front of her. Her handouts for papers are grammatically unclear and difficult to understand. Lectures and textbooks are polar opposites and rarely line up. basically a terrible high school class.
All around awful professor, but at leasts it was an easy A
Excellent professor. She really knows abnormal psychology!
Professor is excellent!
Loved the class! A presentation on a clinical topic is required.
lots of busy work or silly assignments that didn't teach anything, only interested in her own opinion, on the bright side she assigns crazy extra credit
Her online class structure is clear. Exams are easy when you read the book & there's always silly questions. Fair grader on papers. I've taken 3 classes with her & love taking her classes!
The online class was structured very well and if you do all the work you will get an A. You have to make sure to go online every week or you will miss an assignment. You have to read the assigned book for the paper and the textbook to pass the test. But the textbook is easy to read, you cannot quizlet the answer on the test! Very interesting!
Dr. Bosek's class is structured well and she grades on time. Her class isn't difficult, however she can be a little sassy in her Blackboard comments. Will take again though.
Dr. Bosek is an excellent professor. Her class was well organized and structured. I was grateful that Community Psychology is now on-line. I would definitely take future classes from her.
Professor Bosek is a really great instructor. I have taken a few classes from her online and will keep taking them. She is strict on the amount of pages required for each essay, if you are even 1/2 a page short you will get marked down a good amount of points. She gives good feedback and is very helpful though!!
I've taken a lot of online classes and this was not the hardest one I've ever taken but for it being a summer class, it was more work than I was ready for. Expect a paper at least every other week plus three other big papers. Discussion boards necessary. Timed tests with hard questions that you can't just google. Loved the class, but lots of work.
I enjoyed her class immensely. Dr. Bosek has innovative assignments, which I really appreciate. Not the usual mundane ones. Her positive feedback inspired me to do even better. Usually I am disappointed with assigned books but she chose such a great selection. The material was stimulating and having a great professor just helps. Recommend her!
Fantastic class. Do the weekly work and you will get an A.
Professor Bosek always makes her classes informative and fun!
Definitely a great class.
Great professor! Really cares for her students. I would highly recommend! She is a fair grader, and offers extra credit.
I took Prof Bosek's class because of the great reviews here. I had a bad experience, however. She is oddly particular about things that don't matter and only makes the class harder for no reason. There is a lot of work you have to do for this class. Her grading is pretty fair. Remember she is a stickler for details. She will ding you for everythin
Do not take this class online with this teacher. It takes about a month before you see your grades and a lot of points are taken off for format rather than actual work. I would not recommend this class to anyone.
Dr. Bosek is an excellent professor. She is clear in her expectations. If you follow assignment instructions and do the work it is easy to get a good grade. APA formatting is required on assignments. I have taken this professor for several classes and plan on taking her again.
I have taken several classes from Dr. Bosek. She wants students to learn the material and is a fair grader. Some extra credit is offered.
Really recommend students who are taking this class online to buy the e-book instead. Exams are straight out of the textbook. You will have to write long essays. Points will be deducted if small errors are in your essays. Overall, she is lenient with late work assignments. Great textbook to read.
shes not very understanding if issues do arise. She takes hours to reply emails which is very difficult when the class is online. Most everything is self taught by reading text book and doing discussion boards. I honestly would not recommend her to anyone or take a class with her again.
I would not recommend her online classes to anyone. She doesnt do any lectures, and her tests allow 75 minutes for 50 questions. I did the reading and took notes and still had a hard time. If she would do some lectures and allow more time for the test to read thoroughly it would greatly improve the course. I am a 4.0 student and had a hard time!
I have taken Bosek twice, both were online classes. Bosek have NEVER given any lectures nor any lessons in her online classes. She gives 10-15 page papers, book overview papers and tests but have never ever conducted any lectures. Her class basically is equivalent to just reading the whole book. Many other students agree that she is one of the W
I have taken Dr. Bosek for several classes. Her assignments have always been interesting. She is clear in her expectations and is a fair grader. Extra credit is offered. Overall, I highly recommend this professor.
The class consists of reading the textbook, discussion boards, midterm paper, final paper, and 3 exams. She is very straight forward with what she expects, including the sentences in your paragraphs. Only thing I noticed she was strict about is that every paragraph is 5-7 sentences. Do the minimum she asks and you'll pass.
She is neat picky about what she wants in the class nd will take points off for just about anything. Very strict professor and takes points off for just about anything to push you to improve which It would be fine if your grade didn't count on every little detail she takes points off for. Lots of homework but interesting material. Test can be tough
If you want a good grade - avoid this professor like the plague.
I have taken multiple online classes from Professor Bosek and can safely say I have learned very little. I am extremely passionate about the subject of psychology and am disappointed she does not put more effort into actually conferring valuable knowledge to her students. On the brightside the book "The Other Wes Moore" is a good read.
Dr. Bosek is such a strict grader. I have always thought I was a good writer, but I have never received such low scores on my papers. Also, her first exam is tough and worded very oddly. Another student mentioned this and I shrugged it off but I got a D on that test. You have to read the textbook and the assigned book in depth. Take a lot of notes!
Professor Bosek sets high standards and is clear in her expectations. She was helpful and gave good feedback on assignments. I learned a lot in the class. If you do the required work, you will earn a good grade. I would definitely take her for another class!
Dr. Bosek has taught this class many times and is highly organized. She gives excellent feedback. Do the work and you will get a good grade.
There is barely any coursework required, but because of this when it's time for tests they are very difficult. I barley touched the textbook until we had a test. I failed the first one and have yet to take the second one, it's due tmrw. There's a book report and an annotated bibliography. It's an easy class but be prepared to study for the tests.
Never take a class from Bosek. I wanted to learn from this class and have good discussions on the topics, however all you do is read a book and choose a topic for a huge paper that she will fail you if you don't do. Don't have any emergencies happen, she won't care. She is very set in her ways, times are changing, she should too...
This class is definitely not easy. Assignments take a lot of time and effort to complete, so make sure you do not procrastinate. Exams are difficult, so also make sure to study well for those! Make sure to ask questions if you dont understand the instructions of an assignment. Dr. Bosek is a very organized and kind professor.
Don't take her class. She doesn't care about your emergencies, and won't delay anything. Won't accept late work.
Professor Bosek is interesting and organized. She really wants people to learn community psychology. If you follow directions for assignments and complete the work, you will get an A. Her exams require reading the text and studying.
I have taken several classes from Dr. Bosek. I can tell she read my work based on the feedback she gave. She is very organized and professional.
Solid teacher. Strict, pay attention to details. Know your APA. I have a feeling she has a wicked sense of humor. I respect this instructor. This is a very good class. You will read all of it. The assigned book and the text book. She is accessible and gives feedback. Pay attention to your discussions!
Needed this class and I am a hard worker. Taking a class as personal as this one with no recorded lectures is disappointing. I love psych but this class was dry and boring. Ended the semester feeling like I learned nothing and paid a lot to do so. The focus on grading felt like it was related more to formatting and grammar, not actual psych.
This was a hard/demanding class, mostly cause of the major paper and book overview. DB posts are averagely hard, exams were average (based on textbook). The prof is understanding, straightforward, and clear. No BS is taken. If you have a good work ethic, this class is good. If you don't, consider taking another. 8/10 class, would recommend.
I'm sorry, but a class with this professor online is a waste of time. She expects you to pay almost 600$ just for her class and then $120 for a book, because she isn't gonna actually teach. She wants you to read the whole textbook and teach yourself. She isn't a professor, she is a higher paid librarian lol. If you read this, please teach something
Dr. Bosek is very organized and straightforward in her expectations. She answer questions and emails within 24 hours and is available by text and telephone. She is very friendly and concerned that students learn the material. Read and follow the syllabus requirements, and you will get a good grade. Extra credit is offered.
Dr. Bosek is really good. Her class was not super difficult but you def need to keep up with the assignments. She's very strict about APA rules. Exams could be a little difficult but you can still pass. She is also really good at giving feedback.
There were zero lectures, poorly worded instructions, and awful papers. Abnormal Psychology is such an interesting topic but you wouldn't know it based on this awful class. Maybe she's better in person but I hated every second of Boseks class. Truly awful.
Dr. Bosek was not so great. It was disappointing that there were no lectures, especially since she has a clinical practice. Taught out of the textbook. Little room for critical thinking or practical application. Supercritical grading or an easy multiple-choice exam, no balance in between. Wouldn't take a class with her again.
Bosek is great. Her grading of papers and discussion boards were tough, but her feedback was valid. I appreciated that all exams were open book and liked the assigned reading. I found it easy to get an A. Just know that if you don't understand something, ask. She is available by email and while a strict grader, is super helpful.
