She asks what you think, but DON'T BE TRICKED, she really doesn't care, in fact, after she finishes NOT listening to you, she will tell you what you're SUPPOSED to think. Enjoy!

Was very rude to many students when voicing opinions. Your opinions don't matter to her so don't give them. Cuts down the class immensely in a social class type of way. Tests pretty easy.
She makes class very interesting. Lets you use a notecard on the tests and gives lots of good study advice. She is only rude to students who say completely dumb stuff in class.
She is very unwilling to work with students. If you have an emergency come up, is not willing to let you make up anything except 1 test or quiz. Very uncaring about her students.
She says that her tests cover the material she talks about in class, NOT! Thinks Marx was brillant, NOT! She nods, and hmms..while you discuss but she really doesn't hear a word! Just agree with her and study like &*^%
Can't remember a class that i have taken that I enjoyed the least. As an older student who has experienced life she is very degrading to her younger students.She wants you to know she has a phd though. retire and spare us all!!!!!!!!!!
Ford is unclear as to what will be on her tests and dosn't discuss the actual material in class. She'd rather talk about serial killers and her dog.
She is a great teacher. She has a lot of in class discussions and really makes sure you understand the subject. She's very nice and wants you to ask questions. She also lets you use notes durring the tests.
Much better than what people think. Take notes and pretend to care about what she is saying, that's all. Tests are pretty easy and mostly from in class notes and a lil from the book.
She tells you nothing in class that is going to help you on the test. Best advice is to get the study guide. But, still very difficult. She thinks she is always right and that the kids in her classes are too young to know anything.

She doesn't know how to keep on topic. Everything discussed in class is completely biased to her own personal views. Her lectures are consumed with pushing her own political agendas across. In this class, you're NOT allowed to disagree. Don't take her.
She's a really nice professor, very intellectual, has awesome class discussions, she let's you use ONE note card front and back w/ whatever notes you can cram in there for her tests! You can't slack off though, READ the chapters I worked hard for my B!

I have to disagree with those who say that Ford isn't a good teacher. I got an A in her class without any struggle at all. She lets you use an index card during exams...how much more babying do you guys need in order to make a decent grade?
shes ok, justs talks about 5 things at one time. but just come to class every day and you will be ok if anything you will make a C in the class
EXCELLENT. Stimulating/Challenging. She sets her students up for success. She is very fair. In class she is provocative and extremely well versed in her subject. She knows how to teach! Everyone learns !!!
It's a hard class but she is willing to help you out if you need it. Index cards for tests definitly help. Look at the book and your notes before you take a quiz.

The class is easy, but she makes it so damn difficult. She gets uses her personal experiences as examples, and they are not helpfull at all. She doesn't stay on topic at all. One minute we're talking about Sigmund Freud, next we're talking about polution.

Dr. Ford is a great professor that really expects alot from her students. Read the chapters before each test and make sure you really understand the material before each exam, there really hard.

Aside from being a bad teacher, this woman is very arrogant and impossible to talk to. Her sociology class destroyed all interest I had in the social sciences.
Prof. Ford has great class lectors, HOWEVER she does not prepare you for the tests. She we tell U what "WILL BE ON IT" & it NEVER plays out that way. U start the test thinkin I know this- then BAM! you don't. She gives extra credit that is on a much higher level of social sc. thn most can handle.
Before taking her class, many students advised against it. So glad I didn't listen. I thought she was great and she was more than willing to help if you took and interest in learning. If you want an "easy" class--sign up for someone else BUT if you want to learn something--she is the one to take!
She's one of the best teachers I've ever had. Her lectures are interesting, and yes, the tests are hard, but as long as you LISTEN and PAY ATTENTION you'll do fine. She even allows notecards on the tests. Don't listen to what other ppl say. I've taken her twice and would happily do it again.

Made the ENTIRE Honors class rewrite a paper because she didn't want to fail an entire honors class! Ok lady, if the ENTIRE class got it wrong, who is really at fault? I had a 4.0 GPA and got a D in this class. She had a 30% withdrawal rate. Six 7 page APA papers for ONE CREDIT?
I you take this class your asking for a bad grade. Her class is all talk on the wrong material. I would find another teacher.
She is a very good teacher, however, if u dont have time to reall study the book, dont take her class. She is a book tester... but she is gives good techniques on how to study her class!
If you take this teacher your asking for a lowered GPA. Her material that she lectures on on the entire class time is worthless. Its a book driven class. Her answer to questions are worthless also.

Your opinion is worthless. She thinks she is the smartest person on the face of the Earth. Her lecture and tests don't coinside. Good luck on her tests! DON'T TAKE HER!
This woman is very bitter and arrogant; she berates students for asking questions about her extremely unclear lectures, and she really only uses the class as a forum to push her political views. If she likes you, you'll get a B(as long as you are female).
Social science can be easy. Ford sets it up so if you study you will do well. If youdon't she gives SO MUCH extra CREDIT you are overwhelmed. So if you fail or don't get the grade you want- you can't blame her. Very smart women and knows her stuff. Is a DEBATER NOT AN ARGUER. So it's a interesting class IF you are get involved.
This teacher is Libral Liberal Libral! The students in her class are useually all fresh out of high school and have never had a polictical stance in their life and she takes full advantage of their being nieve. I had Ford for Sociology and I dont think anyone left that class with more than a hand full of knowlege. The stuff we did learn was completely unclear and she drags her lectures into pointless conversations about anything but Sociology. We were constantly chapters behind and the only thing you could say after her class was..."huh???" Skip her...

Dr. Ford's tests are hard. If u don't read and understand the concept of the book, u will not pass. Yes, she talks too much and not talk about what's in the book. She should explain more what's in the book, coz there's a lot of stuff in it that's very interesting. I read a lot of the chapters and still get a C.
It's not so much that the class is hard, it just seems like she lectures aout unecessay things, and then the tests are based on all concepts. If you don't understand she truly doesn't care, and looks at you like " Are you stupid?" I would recommend taking this class at another campus!

Dr. Ford is a great teacher. She actually asks that her students learn something in the class, which is why many students don't seem to like her. I would recommend her to anyone who truly wants to have a great foundation in Sociology or even those who want to work in the field. If you want to learn and actually work at a collegiate level, take her class.

This class was hard! All you have to do is come to all the classes, take good notes and study and you'll do fine. I know a lot of people failed this class but I got an A just by studying and paying attention. And, I actually learned a lot. If you're looking for a class to goof off in, this is not for you!
I got an A in the class, but I was extremely hesitant to look at my test scores after I saw other people's reactions to theirs. It isn't an easy class, but you definitely learn alot!
I took this course online, I would not recommend it. The dicussion topics are simple and fun, but the test are hard. I swear I read these chapters from front to back and studied and never did hot on a test. I passed this couse. The subject is interesting, just dont take this course online. She is not the friendliest professor either.
I took this class via CD, and I had to retake 2 tests because she said she never received them from the testing center. She acted as if I had inconvenienced her, and she gave me no leeway, despite having As on each of the other tests I had taken. I am just thankful I didn't have to sit in a class with her every day!
This professor is HORRIBLE! I could understand rocket science better before understanding her. She is so unclear about what she wants. Her lectures are for the birds. It doesn't relate to any of her tests and she just talks too much even for a woman all the people I konw dropped. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

i was very dissapointed about the class. there is no room for extra extra credit. my partner and i busted our nuts to come up with the best report that we could have come up with on a hard topic and we didnt get the grade we believe we deserved. :C id take sociology on another campus if you want a decent grade. :C im frustrated

Mrs.Ford is the absolute worst! I learned nothing in this class all she do is talk about nonsense and expect for you to pass a test she never attempted to teach you the material! Run from her class and go to Professor J.Melvin you will learn the material and have fun. I alwaya make A's and B's but got a D from Mrs.Ford and A from Mrs.Melvin.

If you did not agree with her then your comment doesn't count. Her assignments weren't clear. I received a B in her class only because of the cheat sheet and I did not talk much .
She teaches like a prof should. But towards the end it becomes a teach yourself subject. You have to read the chapters and study on your own I got a B but worked for it.

Excellent professor! Took her for Intro, Marriage & Family, Social Problems. She is challenging and thought provoking. Teaches at a higher level than most FCCJ professors. You have to earn your grade. If you don't want to work, then don't take the class.
She is tough. She expects you to study like college students should. She wants to expand your knowledge and stretch you. If you like to be challenged, take her. She is very opinionated, so try not to get offended.
What else can I say that everyone else hasn't already said? Professor Ford is a great person but a terrible professor. Most of the time in class is spent on discussion that is irrelevant to anything on the tests. Basically, the only way to pass this class is to keep your head buried in the book and not listen to anything she says.
Horrible teacher. She blathers on and on, getting through about 2 power point slides per class. She never even mentioned the things that were on the test. We didn't even have a test until 2 months into the class. She nevers posts on blackboard or lets you know what your grade is. She tells horrible depressing anectdotes.
Horible experience!!! I do not drop classes and dropped this one. I had her for a hybrid class. She expects you to read the book and understand application use questions. We listened to her ramble on about everything but sociology. Not a large course load but does not give due dates unless asked, never posted grades, and no discussion of readings.
Professor Ford puts her heart into teaching. She will help you if you ask. If you are straight out of high school, you should brush up on your study skills before taking this class because she teaches at the college level (like she should).

Professor Ford is a great person who seems to care alot. She teaches the way all Professors should. She expects her students to be responsible and want to learn. I had the worst experience in Ford's Intro to Sociology course. Nothing that she talked about in class was relevant to the book or what we were learning. I felt completely lost all semester. The tests were hard because we covered no material, and the three papers were impossible. I don't reccomend her.
I learned more from my book than I did from my professor. It took her almost two months to grade our essays.
PROS:Exams are worth 120 points & you can are aloud to have a notecard while taking the exams. Interesting videos/books. CONS:Horrible professor! I attended class everyday and still managed not to get anything out of this class. I studied and made a low grade which has caused my GPA to drop! I do not reccommend this professor to anyone! BEWARE!!!!!

To be honest, Prof. Ford's class was pretty good. I mean, if you can stick with it, you will learn alot. She has a lot to teach, thats for sure. Not the easiest class in the world, but I deffinitally learned alot. I would be willing to take another class with Prof. Ford.
I took Dr. Fords class online, it was hard and LOTS of assignments that really just seemed like busy work. She grades the discussion boards like you are a grad student, so be prepared. I got an A but I put in hours of work on the DBs. Not a mean person at all, and very willing to explain the issues. I did learn a lot on this subject.

I don't like how she teaches. During lecture she goes off topic and doesnt explain the material she expects you to read. One main paper, couldnt understand the assignment. She does brag about herself and her accomplishments, and mostly just debates in class instead of going over the chapter information. Therefore, you pretty much have to teach yourself the course material. The first exam is for chapters 1-4, but she didn't even get to chapter 4 by the time the exam came around. There's a lot of online work.
she didn't go over the exact material in class that's in the textbook and what's on the exams or quizes, it's mostly debate which is fun but not useful in making a good grade. the first exam was supposed to be chapters 1-4, but it's 1-3 since we didn't go over 4 yet - so that's good that she doesn't expect you to know that material.

I didn't think the class was as bad as everyone else thinks. This is your typical college class. Ford discuss's more of real life sociology things that are happening now rather than the exact things in your text. Pretty much you have to read the chapters and prepare for the tests and quizes yourself. we didnt get to most of the chapters anyway.
This was probably one of the worst classes I have taken. Dr. Ford does not teach ANY of the material that the exams and quizzes cover. She talks about herself and her accomplishments more then Sociology. There is a lot of online work. She can be rude and offensive during lectures. Basically take ANY other professor for SYG 2000.
If you take SYG2000 with Dr. Ford, you will have to read the text book. That's where all the tests and quizzes are based. Her lectures serve to clarify the material, but you won't find any test questions based on her lectures. She isn't that hard, but she does expect you to perform well. I think she does a great job and deserves better reviews.
She is one smart woman, yet she needs to know how to be more organized. Everything that was turned in and done, she didn't even post it up till last week. Yo! I think that ain't cool. In the middle of the semester, I asked for my grades and she said she forgot them when we set the meeting time.

Looking at all these comments on Mrs.Ford and she is still teaching. Many of us have failed because of her. Not taking anything away from her personality because she is fairly nice but her teaching methods are lacking. I have met many people in FCCJ that has had her and did poorly. We need to get this woman out of teaching Sociolgy fast.

This class was not supposed to be a hybrid, yet most of the work was done online. The actual class meetings were drawn out discussions about stuff not in the test and stuff we didnt need to know. To pass the tests, just read the chapters and use the brown study guide that came with the book. Everything else is busy work except for the final paper.

Yes, she's a tough teacher. She actually treats her students as if they are in COLLEGE, instead of high school. You will have to do some studying but, good grief, she gives out 10-15 bonus points per test! You can't ask for anything better! She is brilliant, and if you listen to her you can learn alot about the world.
This was a class I actually had to study for. She does make you work for your grade. At the end of the term there is a group project. Be papered to have at least one lazy person, but if the remain two or three can pull together then you will be ok.
If you want to learn socialogy take Dr. Ford. If you want to succeed at the next level take her class. If you want an easy grade and someone to whipe your bottom for you take another class

Had I read the reviews here I would not have taken her class, but since now I have barely passed her class, I can tell you many of these reviews are exaggerated. In all honesty, Dr. Ford is very intelligent, makes good use of class time, and will help those falling behind. Some may need to use a dictionary to fully understand her lectures. :P
I have good grades in her class because I can teach myself. But she is the worst teacher ever. have not got one interesting thing from her all year. she does not talk about anything of relevance...Very dissapointed
Goes off on tangents instead of actually teaching. She moves through the book slowly, then she assigns projects on things she hasn't taught yet. Her projects are complicated and ridiculous, she expects way too much. She also assigned three projects in the last week and a half of class, after taking the entire semester to do two.
Overall, an easy class, you just have to study the main people and ideas. Be prepared to teach yourself, because she tends to go off subject a lot with her lectures. You still must pay attention because when she actually does lecture about something useful, it will be on the test. Group project at the end of the semester, but super easy.
This class is not recommended if it's your first semester in college. But Dr. Ford is nice and very helpful when you approach her. The main thing is to read the chapters and go to class. And don't be afraid to ask questions for assignments because she will help you as much as possible.
Filled w/ knowledge but is no help. Discourages students by telling them straight up they are wrong. Uses Asians constantly for her ex. Doesnt want to spoon feed her students, but doesnt give enough info of how she wants things turned in. Basically you'll fail if you take her, unless the bk is memorized and rich to buy all programs you need 4 class
WARNING: The worst teaching method of any professor I have ever had. We read the chapter on our own, take the test online, THEN she covers that section a week later in class. If I would have known I would be teaching myself I would have signed up for an online class. Instruction on EVERYTHING was unclear, and responses to Qs were just as unclear.

I got an A, dont know why there are such bad reviews. Very knowledgeable teacher. Yes, the lectures can get long, but she knows what she is talking about. She gives you everything you need to pass for her assignments, midterm and final. and she was actually very helpful. Just be prepared to work for your grade.

i really enjoyed this class she made the material easy to understand pulse the books free companion website is great you can hear the chapter read aloud and there are flash cards. looks like a magazine and isn't much bigger than one user friendly for sure. the teacher herself very knowledgeable and knows how to relate it to students in a fun way!!
Awesome class, I look forward to take other classes by her. As long as you stay focused and at the front of the class you will be able to understand. After taking her class I am extremely interested in Sociology.
I didn't have a problem with working hard in Dr. Ford's class; in fact, I appreciate when a professor teaches their class like they're college students rather than 9th graders. The only thing that annoyed me was that her classes were completely pointless, I couldn't use one thing she used in lecture on tests!
Dr. Ford let us know on the first day of class what to expect - a college sophomore level class. If you read the text AND pay attention in class, you will do great. I ended up with a 104 in the class due to extra credit available. You can do it too...if you're not lazy!
She likes to talk a lot. Like a LOT. We did a few group activities. Only ONE 2 page paper for the class "awesome." As long as you study for the test you should be fine. All power points are online so only take lecture notes if needed.
Sooo boring. but shes really easy. gives lots of extra credit. just show up and you'll do fine. (it was a hybrid class)online quizzes are easy. just don't miss deadlines. i appreciated having an easy class while taking chemistry and anatomy. so kudos i recommend if u just need to pass a class.
Dr. Ford is a great teacher who tries to have her students look at society in a new and different way than they normally they have before. You spend a lot of time on the first 2 chaps. but it is essential to understand for the remainder of the class. PP's are summarized info from book. Take notes, and be respectful (like an adult!) You'll be fine.
Easy class just do what is asked and you will do fine. Long winded on lectures. Get the first 2 chapters down it matters.
Her lectures can sometimes be off topic or stay on one very small section the entire class. overall she is nice and very helpful. The material isn't too tough.

Seems almost too busy to be teaching classes...not very good with quick responses to emails. Long winded lectures. Uses a 'beyond the book' method so not all information that is on the test comes directly from the book. Must use PPT print-outs to be successful. Notes during test is OK. Be aware, she remembers names and faces extremely well.
Dr. Ford is a great teacher. She is very knowlegable and her lectures are my favorite part of the class. If you are a dedicated student, you will do fine. Participate in class discussions, and study like your supposed to! She is a great teacher! LOVE HER
She knows sociology extremely well, and she makes the class very interesting. Her tests are really confusing and a little hard. The subject itself is not easy. But she is really good at what she does.

Difficult topic, but she explains it well. Would strongly suggest you have decent math skills prior to taking this class.
Dr.Ford is a wonderful woman. She's smart and quirky. It's hard to not like her because she's a really nice person overall. Although, her tests are awful. They probably contain a 1/4 or 1/3 of what you were taught. She lets you use a notecard on each test. But it doesn't even help. She's a Sociologist. So don't even try lying to her. She WILL know.

Fun and easy teacher, gives so much extra credit you can't fail. Her lectures do run a few minutes long and she gets off topic, but when she does it's about real life scenarios, very interesting. I took a Hybrid class so I had 16 online quizzes (very easy), just read the book and the study notes she gives. Tests are different from lecture.
Very great teacher, extremely helpful and her class was very interesting. The notecards were easy to write, just keep up with the reading of the textbook and pay attention during the lectures and it's easy to grasp the material. Loved the class!
She is very smart, and is a good talker but that's all she does is talk. We got so far behind on discussions that it didn't even make sense. The whole class is online even though you have mandatory attendance.
Dr. Ford's lectures are good. She's really nice and friendly but grades horribly. She falls way behind on schedule with lecture, at least with the hybrid class I was in she did. Be prepared to write essays, she critics you like a english professor as well. She is also very strict on attendance.
I really enjoyed taking Dr. Ford's class. I found the lectures to be informal and the online classwork to be easy. Dr. Ford reponded quickly to all of my emails, and answered all of my questions. I really enjoyed her class. Would recommend to friends!

Professor is very nice as a person, but she has too much outside of teaching to take care of, she can not focus on her students. Class was very confusing and it was hard for me to catch up.

She gets easily distracted and will spend the entire class discussing a topic that is completely irrelevant. The homework is online on a very cluttered website that's a pain to use. Take class, not teacher.
I took Dr.Ford's hybrid class in Fall 2013. I actually really enjoyed her class. There is NO final, so that's a plus. All of the tests are online, so you're able to use your book! There is a individual project near the end & she offers TONS of extra credit. There's no way you can fail this class unless you are the laziest person EVER! I got an A.
Teacher isn't that great. Very confusing to take instructions from and gives vague directions on what she wants. Tests are completely different material from what she teaches, so even though she allows you to use notes on the test, it's pointless. Talks about irrelevant subjects all class period and doesn't actually go over the material fully.

lectures aren't helpful. four tests which you are allowed to use notes on. Notes don't help though, because the tests include things she's never gone over or mentioned once. Very vague in her directions, and usually doesn't tell you how to do an assignment(like a paper or powerpoint) or when it is due until the class period before. DO NOT RECOMMEND
Great instructor. Got soooo tired of my whiny little classmates. Please, grow up. No one spoon feeds you anything out there in corporate America, so get used to it! Syllabus is detailed.
Ford is nice and all but not a great teacher. Lectures are irrelevant, she might get through one PowerPoint slide each class, and takes forever to grade your assignments...no matter how short and easy they were. She also uses this site called aplia because blackboard messes up too much. A code for aplia is around $80 and the site is horrible.
Dr. Ford is a really knowledgeable on the subject and EXPECTS you to be the same. Her expectations are a bit much for students who has no clue about this subject. She requires an ridiculous amount of writing on ALL assignments. I am down to do work but she is requiring Master level or above in a bachelors program. You have 40 minutes to answer 30 questions on a quiz which gives no time to actually read and put thought into the response! Can't wait till this class ends
This professor is horrible! She doesn't respond to emails or ?'s for the professor section in a timely manner. Her instructions are confusing and the amount of work is overload! Read 100+ pages of nonsensical material (She really needs to choose a better book) to take a quiz on which your suppose to remember 1 line from. I wish I did not have to be in here class ever again however I am stuck with her for the next 1.5yrs!
Lectures are very interesting but not always related to test material. Loves what she does and pushes her students. Tests can be tough, even with note card she allows.
Has a tendency to ramble when giving her lectures, but if you find deep thought and sociology an intriguing subject then you'll do fine. I absolutely loved how professional she was and how forthright she remained. She treats everyone equally, but doesn't care for students who come to class and do not put forth effort. She can come off as snobish.
By no means was this an easy class. You will have to put forth an effort. Dr. Ford is very knowledgeable. Safe to say you probably wont coast through that class. If you do, then congrats. She can be a little hard to understand during lectures. Almost as if she is teaching a graduate level class or higher. For the most part you will learn alot.
Whatever you do avoid Dr. Ford at all costs!! By far one of the worst classes I have ever taken. There were several discussion boards that are worth 90 points each, I never received higher than 55 on these. I emailed and called Dr. Ford but never got a response. I ended up Withdrawing, as this teacher clearly doesn't care if you do well!
Dr. Ford is a very knowledgeable professor and she teaches at a gradate level, which is excellent, however if you are not skilled at writing on a professional level then I advise you seek a writing class first before taking her class. She will give good feedback if asked and she will try to help in any way she can.
all I have to really say is that she is a very fair teacher. she is very informative, she is willing to help you with whatever you need help with, and makes your life easier than expected. recommendation is, take her wed hybrid class you will think me later. you would have to be lazy to not pass this class.
Professor Ford is a pretty easy Socio teacher. A bit strict. Grades attendance, even though some days were spent watching irrelevant movies. Lectures are engaging, but quickly veer off topic; she likes to hear herself speak. Very easy online asgnmts, 1 hellish 5pg essay, & 1 short writing asgnmt. All-in-all, an easy A if you're comfortable writing.
You have to teach yourself. As a person professor Ford is a great person but no so satisfactory teacher. You have to teach yourself everything and read your life away the whole semester. She only lectures so good notes and reading every day of the semester is the only way you will pass.
Class was not too difficult with Professor Ford. Two discussions, the rest of the grades were exams, and a final powerpoint. Professor Ford is a tough grader on grammer and citations, so make sure you validate information. Other than than do the work and you should pass just fine.
Ford is an incredibly intelligent woman. Her lectures often veer off class topics to irrelevant but interesting things, which makes time pass faster. Tests are VERY book based. Make sure to read the chapters. Easy class. Short online homework every week, two discussion boards, and two mini projects. Easy easy easy.
Professor Ford is awesome! Not too many discussions and assignments. Exams are a major portion of the grades, not too tough though. If you do the work and study, you should pass with no issues.

Professor Ford teaches a number of classes in the Human Services so it is kind of hard to avoid her. But if you can, PLEASE DO! Her tests are extremely tough, I hated the textbook for this course. I would not take her class again. Avoid, Avoid, AVOID!
The kind of class where you show up, listen to your prof relentlessly banter + zone out, and do some work. Heavy book use. Be prepared to WRITE. Must purchase access code. She lets you use a "cheat-cheat" on her tests, but make sure to study the basics beforehand. Lectures are painfully boring as she often veers off subject.
She is a great professor but she wants you to be on her level and she has a PHD. She give good feed back but her instructions is confusing and difficult to understand sometimes. she say one thing then has to say it multiple ways because she doesn't know how to connect on your level.
Had this professor when the hurricane hit Jacksonville. She went out of her way to help us make up the work and reorganize the schedule. Expectations were clear and feedback was quick.
Very understanding during Hurricane Irma she chopped our work in half so we could focus on getting our life together. Phenomenal feedback whether you like it or not. Tough on references and asks for direct page numbers from textbook. Long discussions but not difficult. You will use the book...a lot!!
Professor Ford is great! I have had a few classes with her and she wants to make sure her students are prepared to excel at the Master's level. The class is pretty manageable. Weekly test, two or three discussions, one writing assignment, and some certified modules. Overall, I would definitely recommend Professor Ford if you are looking to succeed.
7 week course. There is a lot to read some questions are right from the book, others are tricky. Great feedback! Know your APA, papers should be Bachelor level. Over-participate in discussions for the best score. She understands life happens but communication is a requirement!
4 quizzes, 3-4 chapters to read every 2 weeks. Amazing feedback and helps with ANYTHING! Appreciative of creativity and effort. My favorite professor hands down! Must participate in discussions!!!!
There are very few projects and they all carry heavy grading. Feedback is given too late to correct and do better. Grading is extremely slow. She is not accessible. Syllabus and rubrics are the rules and guides. Very detailed.
Great professor for those that actually want to learn. You won't breeze through her class but you will definitely leave with a greater knowledge of domestic violence and its effects.

One of the worst Professors Ive taken at the college. Condescending, Rude, does not allow for late work even for Emergencies. Extremely strict grading, so you better make sure you follow the directions TO THE LETTER or she will take off points.
If you take this Professor be ready to work hard. She expects you to actively learn and write on the graduate level. This was by far the most difficult class I have taken. She teaches to prepare you for the real research world. Do not take this as an easy A class. You will learn but you will work. She is hard, but you will learn.
Professor Ford expects a lot out of her students. She is quick to respond to your emails but is not friendly. If you SUBMIT an assignment but it is not "correct" you will get a ZERO and nothing higher until it is how she wants it. She is not understanding and accommodating to students home lives and situations. I will not be taking Pro Ford again.
Rude arrogant and assignments were unclear. Worse Professor I've taken at this school. Professor Ford compares what is expected of her duties to those of students. She is not inspirational at all, and uncaring of her student's academic performance. The professor should teach with an inspirational caring attitude.
Avoid this professor at all costs. Ridiculously tough grader. Must be a PhD and demands nothing less in your work. I submitted all my papers to tutors who stated my work was a 10/10 and I received a 5/10 from her. Strict APA style. Takes FOREVER (30 days) to grade and give feedback so you have no way to make up a grade. Messed up my gpa (elective)
Unreasanable. Never had A teacher give out an F in the first two weeks of class and after completing assignments. She focuses too much on citation tutorials that do not even work half the time and then uses that as the majority of the grade even know the class is not about citations. I'm an A/B student and this teacher gives out an F.
Discussions should not be graded or considered as harshly as they are. Some professors, with higher credentials, have not graded as harshly as this one. Overall, discussion boards are a means to an end and in my opinion are useless. Also, this course is not a PhD level course.

Dr. Ford is one of the most challenging professors I've had in my collegiate experience. She does expect her students to learn and engage on a graduate level. I don't agree with all of her teaching styles and methods, but respect how knowledgeable she is. Be prepared to work for this grade as it is not an easy A. I would take her again.
I have kept A's throughout my entire college experience so far, and her course, in my final semester of my degree, changed that. The technicalities that she chooses to get hung up on are annoying and she marks down heavily for little things. The nature of her work and grading forces you to dedicate disproportional amount of time to her class.
She is the most disrespectful person ever! If you even try to give your opinion she'll tell you that you have no right to do so.
I have never received anything lower than an A on a discussion board until I took Dr. Fords class. She grades heavily on APA and punctuation so every period, question mark, etc. must be in place. She takes a long time to grade assignments and only gives one attempt for exams. She is a tough grader, but she cares. Be prepared to work hard.
Dr. Ford is an asset to FSCJ. I took her for one of my final classes BS. She is definitely one of those professors, who will check every single period, comma,; however, is one of the few, who cares and truly wants you to learn and leave the program by being better than you were when you joined. A tip: Use tutors to review the papers.
If I could give this professor a negative score I would. Avoid taking her at all costs. I took my chances and decided to take her because I did not want to be overloaded in the summer with classes and I am now regretting my decision. She is asking for work that is above the level the class is at. I have spoken to many other students and they agree.
Worst teacher ever. I had straight A's until her. Her response time is garbage, she grades as if she's teaching a Ph.D. level course, I'll have papers reviewed and approved by her imbedded tutors and still get subpar scores. TONS of monotonous busy-work. Honestly, avoid her like the plague. Absolutely horrible. I cannot stress that enough.
RUN AWAY!!!!! A terrible reflection on the head of the department and a liability to the institution! Docs points if discussion assignments are written from a subjective perspective, then subjectively scores the assignment. Hides and/or is inconsistent with what is required to obtain a high score. Lacks test writing ability.
Just no, looked promising at first but gave me a D on a discussion because I did not use articles andcite them for my discussion replies. Dropped immediately.
Tough slow & inconsistent grading. 1 paper was confusing, she provided clarity & gave an extension right before it was due, I had already submitted mine. She graded that paper last, a month after I submitted it, and graded it just low enough to keep me from getting an A in the class. She doesn't grade off of the rubric go above and beyond for an A.
Her class was not overly difficult, but she is a tough grader, and she doesn't grade fast enough for any feedback she might give to do you any good on future assignments.
Professor Forde is a very touch grader and in my opinion grades unfair. Her requirements are at master's or above level, and she is not necessarily clear on her requirements. I understand this is the bachelor's program and standard are required. But I've never had a professor to be so aggressive in their grading. Be on your A-game if you take her!
Professor waited over a month, in a seven week course to grade any work. She then cut grades in half & falsely accused students publicly for using artificial intelligence. Some people are great writers! Claims that all of the students in her classes gave in papers that websites wrote; I know is not true because I didn't, yet she claims we all did!
Do NOT take her. She refuses to give out A's on graded work. She always finds things wrong with your work, regardless of what you do. I used her tutor that she has for my final paper. Her directions on what is expected on assignments are misleading. She expects you to be at a PhD level, even though it is bachelor's level work.
she does not respond to emails at a reasonable time. class is over in a day, and she just now started grading the last few assignments in the class. I could not get the help that I needed to be effective. So of course I failed. work is not hard but for someone who is a professor and does not extended help makes it difficult. very discouraging.
Professor Ford's class was challenging, but with the help of Unstuckstudy AI and the textbook, I was able to stay on top of the workload. Though grading was tough and slow, engaging in the material helped me improve my writing skills.
