she is a bad teacher. she moves very fast. her notes do not help with the homework at all. last test the class average was 52. going to class is pointless, if you want to pass you have to read the book and teach yourself. i would not recommend her.
she is the WORST teacher. She is very hard to understand, treats you like you are stupid when you ask a question. Even reading the book and teaching yourself is useless bc you get to the pt where you cant do that anymore. Her tests are killer and the hw doesn't prepare you. She doesn't review either
Worst teacher around. Her notes are nothing like the test or homework. Talks way to fast and teaches way to fast. I basically taught myself this course and can probably teach it better than she can. Run far away from this class and if your unlucky and get her like I did, GOOD LUCK!!!
Not helpful at all. Hardest class ever taken.
She deffinitely went too fast; made us buy some stupid clickers to check attendance through questions. I don't recommend her. Good luck if you're in this class.
The hardest class ever taken. Physics is not an easy subject and she just made it 100 times harder with her tests. She doesnt curve alot (only about a 2-4 point curve) lol. Avoid her if you can and if not good luck.
She is willing to help and willing to answer questions, if you really pay attention and read before coming to class you will do fine, a good physics teacher is hard to find but she wasn't all that bad. She is very enthusiastic about the subject
Could not agree more with all of the above. She gets mad if you ask a question and you basically teach yourself, or you HIRE a darn good tutor. Our first review was horrible and after the first test there are no more reviews. She is very intelligent but will make u feel stupid. Do not recommend this professor.
Completely arrogant and sarcastic. Laughs at you if you ask a question, then proceeds to make a fool out of you while trying to prove you wrong. Skips steps in EVERY example problem. Gives homework that is fairly easy, then gives exams that are clear as mud. Does not review for exams, and schedules tests on Friday nights. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!

This teacher is horrible. Makes you look stupid when you ask a question and tests are nothing close to what has been done in class or the review. She is what is defined as a practical joke. This ought to be introductory physics and not higher level physics. She is no good. Take this teacher at your own risk.
She is helpfull with a lot of workload to make an A. She also does final curve at the and of the semester because I thought I just got an A- but I ended up with an A
I had her for astronomy and she is very boring to listen to. The tests have nothing to do with what you learn in class. She tries to be funny, but it is so annoying. Bad teacher, get another one if you want to pass.
The tests do not cover what is covered in class. Does not spend enough time on the equations. The wording of test questions is confusing. I love this subject but she makes you feel stupid. She know her material but needs to learn to teach better and to test over what is really important not minute details that will be forgoten later.
Had no interest in Physics until I took her class. Turns out it was my previous professor that "turned me off" of physics. Tests are not easy but not hard and there is partial credit. You do have to have a clicker for in class lectures. She does demos too and I found them helpful for remembering somethings but some are pointless.
She is horrible. She makes you feel remedial. Tests are not even close to what she reviews. DO NOT TAKE HER
Dr. Forrest is a really good teacher, she does sound rude at times, but thats only to students who ask dumb questions, she really is helpful if you show her that your trying. Study & work hard and you'll get an A
Stay away from her at all costs. She's a horrible professor and can't teach at all. If you know your algebra that can probably help because you'll have to do a lot of rearranging of problems. Half the class dropped on drop day. There's online assignments due every Friday. Her tests are very confusing.
This teacher is actually really easy. Tells you exactly what you need to know on her summary sheets so you do not have to read every single part of the chapters.Gives a formula sheet for the tests. Just make yourself do the more difficult problems, memorize the problems from her reviews, read the book, and the tests will seem almost too easy.
She was actually able teach and not just read the book to me and her tests were very reasonable. She covered everything and her reviews gave you a clear idea of what questions would be on the test. People should probably have reasonable math skills before taking any physics classes and before rating any physics professor
If you want to learn then take her. But if you want a A, avoid her at all costs. Tests are extremely hard and confusing. No drop test. Extra credit is super hard to earn.
She is very good at explaining the concepts and I actually understand physics better now, Test is written by several prof. If you work on the chapter problems you will get good grades. Physics requires resonable algebra skills, I wouldn't blame the prof can't teach because my math is not up to date.
Every lecture was clear and concise as well as interactive. There was never any surprises on any of the exams as long as you did the homework. She never turned away a student in need of help or ever lost her temper. She made the subject fun and interesting and i would definitely take her again. She gave lots of extra credit and curves generously
I used to love physics & I was looking forward to this class. But oh boy Forrest just ruined it. She is unclear in explaining & doesn't care if the student understands it or not. Homework is due "online" every Sunday, regardless she has covered the topics in class or not. Her tests are way hard & there are no extra credits or curve. Save yourself !
She really tries to make physics interesting. Tests are very hard. Class average for the first test was a 52. Make sure you understand everything on a conceptual basis. This class will require a lot of time and work to do well. She replaces the lowest test grade with the Final. To my knowledge, she curves at the end.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Awful teacher. She fails to understand what her job is apparently, and cares very little if the students understand the subject. This is a waste of your time if you need easy credit or actually want to understand physics. Homework is terrrrrrrriiiibbbllllleee!!!!
This class was a joke. I never bought a book, never went to the lecture, all i did was take the exams. The good news is that she post all the hw online so you can just do all the semester worth of hw in one day. Just make sure you know the days of the exams. This class is such a waste, i wish UH would just let ppl test out of physics. Easiest A
Exams do not align with coursework from my physics lab. She is straight-lined person that does not relate to the students well.
If you read the chapters and do the homework, you'll get the grade you deserve. I rated her as hot, not because I found her physically attractive, but because she's smart, philosophically correct (as a physicist should be), and knows how to be rude sometimes. There's not many women on earth like that. Great teacher though.
I liked Dr. Forrest. I didn't find the class overly difficult, her tests were very straightforward but you definitely needed to know the material. Overall she was very fair, she even allowed the grade on the final to replace the worst test grade. And the lectures even had interaction, not just someone talking at you the whole time.
UH and physics just don't mix well from what I've learned. But Forrest is your best bet if you have to take it though. Physics can be tough, but she makes it relatively less painful. Prepare to study. She has interactive lectures, which help. Attend them. Tests are pretty straightforward, but you better know your stuff going in.
She is a very passionate professor, and she loves her job. I can understand her lecture if I read the book prior the class. Students are urged to participate in class, encouraged to ask questions.
She's a really good teacher. All you have to do if pay attention in class, do your homework, and read the textbook. You'll make an easy A or B. TAKE HER!
Dr. Forrest is a great teacher. Really knows her stuff. She is receptive to questions. I personally found the lectures helpful, but I knew several people who did well without going. Exams covered lecture material and were pretty straightforward.
She's very straightforward, go in, get the derivation, class over. Homework is through Connect, fairly easy. Physics department at UH is not creative with exams, study the standard previous exams and this class becomes much less difficult. Required attendance for my section which is annoying considering class is not helpful to your grade.
Talks about physics, doesn't tech it, but better of the evils. Many pauses and mistakes in lecture, you lose train of thought-examples are only useful part, get theory from text. HW is directly related to tests, understand it well. HW solutions are cryptic, get a Chegg account early. Learning center is useless. Office hours are somewhat helpful.
Professor Forrest is honestly the best professor I've had at UH so far. She really cares about her students and is very clear and understandable in lecture. Definitely the best option if you have to take Physics 1321.
Basically the only physics worth taking at UH. She's clear and makes you look forward to attending her recitations. If you can't take her then don't bother taking anyone else because they're terrible.
Best Physics professor on campus. She takes her time to try to explain everything in a way that makes sense. The most helpful when attending her office hours. (If planning on petitioning for honors credit: do not. A LOT of extra work, better off doing honors section instead.)
The class wasn't easy, it required a lot of extra work and time. However, she made sure that everyone got it in the class. Don't be afraid to ask questions. She is the only Physics professor to have a teaching degree and that really makes a difference I'll tell you that.
Nice lady, very helpful during class and office hours. Encourages participation and questions. Physics is not easy, but she does her best and takes her time to make sure everyone understands. There's a reason why her classes are always full. She's the only physics professor worth taking at UH.
Dr. Forrest is the best professor at UH. Switched from McCauley's class just to get in hers. Very good at explaining the physical concepts. Derives the formulas while solving situations which makes it really intuitive. Highly recommend her.
Best physics professor at UH. Her lectures are extremely helpful as long as you pay attention and ask questions. Skipping class will make things very difficult. Always available for extra help in her office. Respects students and grades fairly. It is a difficult class, but if you put the effort in, she will reward you. Final grade was curved.
Great professor! Loved her in PHYS 1321 as well! Really detailed lectures are great if you missed a reading. At least skim the book before class and you will get full benefit from her lectures. Honors section has more homework, but relatively easy tests. Best physics professor at UH!
She talks about Physics but doesn't teach it. She expects you to know it before she even teaches it. You'll know what I mean if you ever take her. She does two or three questions per class and that's all without even clarifying the variables. The homework doesn't help at all because there aren't any hints like in every other class. Terrible
Forrest is such a nice teacher but her class is terrible. She didn't teach us one thing all year honestly. All she does is jump into questions and doesn't teach a thing. There are no notes to take in class because she does not lecture. She expects you to know everything about physics without her even teaching it. Ridiculous.
Do not believe the good ratings this teacher received like I did before I took this class because students posted them as jokes to set you up for failure. She does not lecture at all. She does at most two questions she thinks of on each entire chapter and moves on.
Caring. Knows who you are. Sincere. Takes roll. Class is one-third homework assignments (be ready to work), one-third a class presentation you alone will do, one-third final based on all class presentations. Participation translates into grades. Class is small, and one semester hour. Accompanying lab is three hours not rated here.
The teacher is good, but the exams are difficult. One problem with the teacher is that the examples she does in her lecture are way easier then the questions on the exams. Thus, it is difficult know what to expect on the exam. She also made only one of the four tests we had. The other three exams were made by different physics teachers(hard exams).
Overrated, all you really need is your textbook. What I mean is just read it and do practice problems from the book. No reason why you should not make an A. Despite that, I wish I could take her for Uni. 2.
The homework is tough, but the solution manual is out there on the internet meaning your hw category should be an A. Dr. Forrest is an expert at explaining complex concepts in layman's terms. I will be taking her again the following semester, because she is just that good. She does curve, by how much I do not know. DO NOT DIE BY THE CURVE.
Very good Professor, I took her for Modern Physics 1. The class is very difficult, by nature, but is to be expected from a class of this level, however she made it very interesting and presented the material in a very clear and concise manner. She cares about your success if you show up and put forth an effort. The tests are hard, but managable
Taking physics at UoH is probably a bad decision the teachers aren't that great. Forest is the best of the bunch but she is not good. Not once did she teach anything she went straight to the packet and started answering questions. Not a smart way of teaching because you only get one example of every question and she answers it for you. Terrible.
Expect homework every week. Tests are tough but she curves at the end and the lectures are really good; she goes in depth and will always answer any questions you may have. She is definitely the best physics professor at UH so I took her for both 1321 and 1322 honors, no regrets. Find the solutions manual because it will help you tons on the hw!!
She's a mediocre professor for physics. There's a lot of homework and the tests are tough. Also, it is crucial to read the book for physics, especially in her class. Her lectures were somewhat confusing.
She's horrible. Whatever she teaches in class won't be on the test. Plus, she says all semester long she'll curve blah blah but her curve is only 2-5 points. Please take another professor. This lady is unsympathetic, makes fun of her students and is rude. Good luck to your gpa if you take her.
Forrest is pretty good for Gen physics 1. Made an A by just studying her notes and past exams on Koofers. I would recommend taking her if you are planning on going to class everyday. She gives 3% points worth of extra cred if you do the warmups and get correct answers. Pretty easy class. 3 exams and final, lowest midterm dropped.
Forrest is one of the top physics professors in UH. She will cover theories and proves first. Then she covers multiple problems. DO NOT look up answers to HW because you will not learn the material properly. Exams are departmental so go online and search for previous semester exams and practice with those. The exams are easier than the homework.
Forrest is very rude when it comes to meeting in person at times. You got to put forth work in this class if you expect to get the grade you want, don't rely on curve since its low. She gives good extra credit. I barely pulled a B in the class after passing the final and 3rd exam. I don't recommend taking her though.
Forrest can come off as rude but that's just her sense of humor. I had a very difficult time in this class, despite her very detailed & helpful lectures. Failed all 3 exams but good grade on final (all-nighter), which replaces lowest test grade. Lots of extra credit w/warm-ups, but weekly homework sucked & wasn't helpful. In-class demos for 10%.
Tests are not as bad as you would think, she DOES throw some random curveballs. She is sometimes confused by her own lectures and fails to explain things that really matter. if you don't have to take her, don't. 4 tests, homework every week, and 6 in class participation assignments. I guess in a horrible physics department, she is not the worst.
I thought she was a great teacher until I took her tests. I read the book, went through chapter problems and back of the book problems, redid lecture problems, and attended class regularly. Recitation was not helpful due to lack of care shown and the graduates in room 116 (?) could not explain basic concepts well. No curve for A-B range grades.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I worked exceptionally hard for it, more so than the other classes in which I got As and I still managed to underperform. The homework is exceptionally tougher than the exams. If I hadn't used clutch prep for the class, I would have easily gotten a D . Get ready to complete 1 chapter a day in her class. GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN
You'll learn the material by showing up to lecture and doing the hw. Tests are hard but easier if you do the HW! She's always willing to help if you ask, whether it's in her office hours or in class. She's really nice and explains things thoroughly.
Only put textbook mandatory because you do have to get MasteringPhysics for the weekly homework (due Sunday nights). I really like Dr. Forrest and was surprised because of all the negative things about physics at UH, but really the lecturers (that I have heard anyway) are all great! She gives extra credit, and going to class really does help. GL!
She doesn't write the midterms, the other professor does, so be ready for a dramatic change of style in the final questions. She doesn't teach the material, we just immediately start doing problems and sometimes she confuses herself. Her style just didn't work for me. Also, be prepared to do the warm up extra credit because curve isn't by much.
I worked the hardest I've ever done for this class and still underperformed. Curve is non-existent. While she does explain things in class her tests don't reflect the material at all. With a perfect hw grade, attendance grade, and warmup grade, two above average midterms I still barely got the B. Wouldn't recommend her, even to my worst enemy.
It's pretty much impossible to get a good grade in this class. She gives EC but it doesn't help at all. I would choose another lecturer. The class does not correlate to what you will see on the exam so save yourself the trouble. Most people skipped class but even teaching yourself doesn't help on exams. Neither does her teaching. It's a lose-lose.
Grades were posted yesterday, so there is a lot of salt right now regarding Prof. Forrest. Her tests aren't the easiest in the department, and she does not give good curves at the end of the semester. However, she is pretty passionate and tries to give real world demonstrations that other professors don't. If you enjoy physics, you might enjoy her
By far the hardest class I've ever taken. If you plan on passing show up to lectures, do book problems, and find yourself a tutor. She gives a little extra credit but the majority of your grade is from the exams and final. Managed to get by with a C- but I suffered all semester to barely make that. Good luck to anyone who has to take this class.
DO NOT TAKE FORREST. Every chapter she covers 10 problems and thats how you are expected to learn the material. Does not cover basics at all. Learned from another teacher. No EC, terrible curve. Class averages for exams are always failing) Other professors teach better, give reviews, EC, curve. Forrest does nothing but watch you fail.
Dr. Forrest is merciless. Her lectures consist of doing a few example problems on the board. The tests are 14 questions multiple-choice with no chance for half-credit from showing work, which means if you miss more than one you already don't have an A. This is the worst class I've ever taken. I would recommend you RUN far far away from this class.
Good professor. Works out examples in the board and teaches good. Also she likes to do demos in class. If you want to do good in the class attend lectures, read the chapters and practice as many problems from each chapter before the test. Tests are hard but there is extra credit, a curve, and final test replaces lowest midterm.
I dreaded taking physics as I had never had a proper one prior to this but Forrest is not that bad. Yes the course requires you to study hard/practice/learn on your own in order to succeed but that has nothing to do with her. Forrest gave out extra credit and a huge curve. Failed one exam and did meh on the others and still got an A, #1 tip-study!
Horrible. Do not take if this wont be your only class. Lots of homework problems. Only very few done in class. Much of this class is self study and learning. Exams are heavy and somewhat complicated. I do not recommend her class!
If you are taking other classes, I wouldn't recommend taking this class unless you have a study group or a tutor to help you. The homework wasn't helpful. It doesn't give you feed back, you just have a certain amount of tries. She tries to explain as much as she can but it can be very overwhelming. And it's best not to be behind.
Dr. Forrest is fantastic. The perfect amount of sass and caring. She lectures well if you do have her for a lecture class, and she has a great teaching style in lab settings. Her grading may have been a little inconsistent, but no deductions were undeserved.
Run... Yes this professor has decent lectures with about 5-8 practice examples and yes there is 10 HW questions every week, but the HW nor the in class example problems will help you on the test. She does not give reviews, the only good thing is that she provides formula sheets during the test which is pointless if you dont understand the problem
She does a great job of going over the material and is always available to try and explain the concepts. Has students answer questions all the time (by semi-random selection) and does a good job of keeping people involved with the material.
Of course physics is difficult, nobody going into it thinks it will be easy. While Dr. Forrest is nice, and approachable her teaching style really did not mesh with me, or 75% of the class for that matter. Over half the class dropped and the rest of us were left grasping for straws.
The tests don't seem that hard but course material does not prepare you for them. The recitation is also a huge waste of time. Could easily be done online.
Physics is hard. Doesn't matter who teaches it. The only way to make an A or B is putting in the time and studying it yourself.
Physics is really hard. I absolutely hated physics. So I thought this teaching style would help me out. But she focuses more on the conceptual, so you don't do a lot of practice problems. Because of COVID, the tests switched over to Mastering Physics and I felt as though they were much harder than the ones at CASA.
Tests are extremely difficult for this course. Well, this course in general is extremely difficult. Homework required a lot fo outside help and tutoring (some from Forrest, who is accessible). There was an extra credit assignment. Her lectures are clear and she answers questions well; it's just the content of the course that's really hard.
For the average UH student, this message should be ignored. She is a great professor compared to nearly all the other physics professors at UH. However, in terms of deep critical learning, she isn't always capable of answering your questions. This is in contrast to the MIT professors, but she is the best of what there is at UH.
She only really taught the concepts and now how to solve the problems even though we were never tested on the concepts. She never did in person test reviews. The only test reviews were on Pearson and they were nothing like the test. You defiantly have to teach yourself a bit in this class.
Good professor that pushes her students. Can be both nice and stern when it comes to seminar and lab. Will often ask questions you don't expect and give proper explanation to answers.
DO NOT TAKE HER. only teaches concepts and is condescending to students, her lectures were boring and had little to no practice problems. She snaps when the class does not answer in 0.2 seconds. The homework problems are vastly unrelated to what the lectures are about. Your best bet is teaching yourself.
Professor was great, physics just wasn't for me. One thing to note is that the homeworks don't line up very well with the tests, it's all the same concepts but it feels like something completely new. Attendance isn't mandatory.
Physics is just a hard class. The professor is very knowledgeable of the content taught in class but her lectures tend to lean more towards conceptual stuff rather than the more mathematical content that you will see on HW and Exams. She picks students at random to answer questions, does some cool labs, and counts in class participation as a grade
Like always tests don't match up with homework assignments but the curve is helpful. I got 50s and 60s on all the tests including the final and finished with a C.
Dr Forrest is a good professor she has a lot of patience to answer and explain questions. Physics is not my forte, but Dr Forrest made it as painless as possible.
This class utilizies ExpertTA, which does not help on the exams at all. You waste all your time that could be used preparing for exams on the HW. She also grades attendance (poppers and group assignments) and that could help or hurt some students.
She has great lectures so be sure to show up to them otherwise you miss out on a lot. She does upload her notes but the lectures are not recorded. She is very helpful both in and out of class. The exam is difficult in part by the use of expertTA. It is not good for preparing you for exams. I had to rely on youtube. She is funny and friendly.
She's a great professor for physics. Participation in her class helps learning the material and the homework is pretty easy. She's easy to understand and she answers questions clearly :D
Loved her as a professor and was very caring during office hours. However it was difficult to study for tests and the homeworks proved difficult too. Ended up getting my grade because I struggled so hard with physics, but she was still supportive the whole way through.
She's the best professor you could take for physics. Physics will always be hard and so will the exams, but Professor Forrest does try to make it entertaining and engaging (she does live demos). Be prepared to study A LOT to do well on exams since her homework (on ExpertTA) is forgiving.
Not helpful lectures; practice problems and performing well on tests is necessary for the class. Genuinely needing a 90%+ on each and every exam to get an A
The tests were not very similar to the reviews she gave. Doing the extra assignments on expert TA after finishing the homework seemed to help the most to better my understanding in each subject along with reading the book. You'll have to study a lot to get a good grade.
Her lectures are decent and she's kind and passionate, but she barely curved the final grade!! (prob 0-3 points). I did at least average on every test, received 90+ on in-class assignments and 100s on every homework/warm-up, yet I end up with a C... The average on the final was a 47 NO CURVE. If you don't want to sink your gpa, don't take her!!
If you care about your gpa then don't take her! Her exams are very difficult, nothing like the review or assignments. The final had a 47% average yet she didn't even curve the final class grade.
her lectures are a little confusing but her exams are so easy, just learn to use the equations and this class will be a breeze. doing the homework and practice that she gives you is more than enough to study for the exams. 3 exams and 1 cumulative final, as well as hw and some small teamwork worksheets in class
the exams did not match any homework and review that was covered during the semester, you have to study other ways, go through the textbook and expertTA. very kind and caring proffessor
**PHYS 2325. Great professor, goes through a lot of good examples in class. Review the examples in her notes and homework problems for exams and youll be fine. Very helpful and encouraging in office hours.
Dr. Forrest was a great physics professor. Her lectures presented information clearly. There were weekly homeworks along with warm-ups. Tests are not too bad as long as you understand the material in the homework and study beforehand.
Very sweet, good at explaining. Honestly doesn't really curve but you'll get many opportunities for extra credit so don't bank on the curve.
Tons of legroom to do well on other portions of the class rather than the exams alone. Study her PowerPoint problems, she reuses questions on exams, or highlights information that will 100% be on exams. Class isn't curved an insane amount, so do study. She offers many practice problems on Expert TA, worksheets, and her lecture problems.
