Extremely caring and cool. She is also totally attractive and her husband is a VERY lucky man! She is a great instructor and a beautiful person, inside and out. Take any course from her. You WILL NOT be dissappointed!

I've taken upper & lower division writing classes from Hewett, and I agree with the others except on the easiness part--she will make you write better than you ever thought was possible, but she will push you until you get there. Not easy, but worth it.

She is absolutely awesome! She is very helpful and is always willing to take the extra time to make instructions as clear as possible.

Mrs. Hewitt is a nice, easy teacher. All we had to do all quarter long is show up and bust out a research paper at the end...if you wan't an easy english 110, take her...there was seriously like 1 homework assignment.

Mrs. Hewett was a GREAT TEACHER!!..when i needed help, she was always there!!!...she was very enthusiastic about teaching this course...i recommend her to teach AGAIN!!

Most useful english class I've ever been in. She was always willing to help, even if she was at home and you emailed her something.

She is a wonderful teacher! Very enthusiastic, positive and very supportive. I had a great time and found her very considerate and kind. She will work with you if you have any problems whether personal or class related.

Great teacher. Always willing to help; you can even call her at home or on her cell phone if you have a major problem. English 305 is an online class. Interestingly, I learned more in this class than any other English class that I have taken.

THE REASON SHE IS EASY IS BECAUSE SHE GIVES HELPFUL EXPLANATIONS, THEIR IS NO CONFUSION ON WHAT TO DO THERE IS WORK INVOLVE BUT YOU HAVE TIME TO DO IT AND ITS RELATED TO CLASS. SHE IS NOT INTIMIDATING AND INSULTING LIKE SOME OTHER PROFESORS. SHE IS A GREAT TEACHER.

Awesome Professor, Not hard at all. Do not miss any homework or your grade will be effected. Very helpful and knows a lot about English. The only paper that was difficult was the final paper. Only because the page length has to be eight pages. If you keep up with all the busy work, your guaranteed an A.

I must say, I wish she was teaching my major!!! Even if the class attendance was not mandatory, I actually went without hesitating!! She keeps everything very interasting and actually writes comments on why she might have docked a point or two on your paper, not just cross it out with a red pen without explanation, like most professors. GREAT JOB!

She's easy to get along with and can relate to the students because she's young. She's energetic, brilliant, and enthusiastic. I didn't really use the text except for the few rare hw assignments. The essays will be fine as long as you have decent writing skills. A word to the wise know how to make citations, she's picky about that.

well its been two years since i had her, and all i can say is that she is the best teacher ever. we should have more teachers like her. she has a great personality and makes class fun. Just seeing her pretty smile kept me going to every class lecture. After two years i still have a cursh on her. I wish i could have a Date with you :).

Great teacher! She is funny & friendly. She gets side tracked from lecture but she still achieves the goal for the day. She is very good about giving 1 on 1 help. She does not require excessive amount of work, we pretty much work up to our final essay.

Great teacher , very enthusiastic. I usually avoid teachers like her because i'm more of a low key type or person but i enjoyed her class very much. Definitely recommend her for English 110, shes fun, yet her homework is easy do.

I LOVED this class because this teacher is awesomely helpful, enthusiastic, and really tried to be creative with the assignements! She even takes texts! She will go the extra mile if you seem like you are trying, and really tries to make the online format and blackboard site easy to follow and predict, and that is worth gold for an online class!

I was new to the online blackboard and new to the state university system. At first it was challenging and a little scary to take a writing class, but Professor Hewett took the time to explain things via email or via telephone. I could tell that she loves to teach and makes sure her students understand what she expected from them. Great professor!!

She's a great professor who goes out of her way to learn each students names. She's easy to talk to and her lectures are great although she does get side tracked she gets the job done. One of the best professors I've had so far.

She's willing to help her students if asked. Gives lots of feedback on rough drafts so final essay comes out perfect. There was lots of outside work that had to be done to maintain a good grade. Really recommend her if english is a hard subject for you!

I LOOOOOVEEEEE her so much ! She is so nice ! Beware she talks a lot and might dog walk, but i have yet to meet a student that did not enjoy her class. She is so helpful !! Although this class requires a lot of work, she goes step by step and makes it easy for you to understand.

Best professor I have taken an online course with at CSUB. Essay topics are really interesting. She provides a tremendous amount of feedback. I would definitely take another course with her. She gives you her personal cellphone number for any questions or concerns and each class has a personalized email. I loved this course!

Definitely one of my favorite English professors. She's really funny and makes the class enjoyable and relates to you very well. The material isn't hard at all and it's really easy to pass this class if you do your work

Yes, there are many writing assignments for this class, but all are on very interesting topics. You will not feel bored writing 4-6 pages. There are weekly blogs which are also on fun topics. She is a tough grader, but she also gives long helpful feedback to improve and resubmit as a final draft. She replies back in just few hours, if not minutes!

There are 3 main essays but they are not bad at all. Overall you will get an A if you show up to class. Her lectures are entertaining and often times funny. Usually I hate English classes but I enjoyed going to this one because she was so energetic and passionate about the topic. She is a straight forward person that you can talk to about anything.

One of the best professors/teachers I have ever had. She clearly cares about her students by making lots of exceptions and being extremely accessible outside of class. Very "get in and get stuff done and leave" professor and I appreciated that. Broke down all instructions and made everything very easy and clear. Loved her spirit and attitude.

So far the best professor Ive had for my MSA program at CSUB online. Very tough grader but you will learn a lot as far as proper grammar, punctuation and proper use of professional level of communication goes. She is an excellent professor and readily available if you reach out to her for anything! I can say so far she is the best I've seen

BY far the best instructor I have had at CSUB MSA grad program to date out of 5 professors. She actually will respond to your email and returns your assignments with feedback in timely fashion. You will learn proper punctuation and grammar in her classess. I love her level of respect for her students, it's refreshing. Highly recommend!

AMAZING. Super energetic and nice. Her lectures were fun and to the point. Likes students engaging in groups. Easy to talk to and ask questions. Helps you with anything. Overall the course was easy.

Professor Penrose is the best! I took her over the summer in which it is a fast paste class and she was awesome! She was available immediately when I had a question she would email me back within minutes or 1-2hrs. She gives clear feedback on all of her homework and all of her classwork is doable. She definitely does not set you up to fail.

She is very passionate about her job and she gives great feedback on assignments. You will definitely have to work to get a good grade in her class. It will help build you to become a better writer. No book was needed in this class. Do all the work and ask for help when you need it. Make sure you know your APA format citations for her class.

Professor Penrose was a great English professor. Gives great feedback on all assignments, especially on our timed essays and final research paper. She grades a bit on the tough side, but you will definitely become a better writer at the end of the semester. Totally recommend to anyone taking English 1109!!

4 essays for the class and weekly reading with a discussion. One end of the year project. Her main goal for the class is to not make it difficult and learn MLA or APA. Will give in class assignments so show up for class for easy points. Let's you submit rough drafts and corrects a lot of it for you.

She's absolutely amazing and such a sweetheart. she really cares for her students and wants nothing but success for them. If you have questions outside of class shell go the extra mile to help you with anything.. shes really passionate about her teaching and is just amazing overall. 10/10 recommend.

Overall a great Professor, she's very understanding and understands you have other classes. However, attendance is very important, you have to show up or your grade will reflect that negatively.
