This professor seems nice at first but dont let her looks fool you. She will fail you without a thought if she had too. Does not consider the effort, all she cares about is that student pass all 4 of her hard exams, even if u pass 2 exams with low grade She will still fail you. She's boring and loves to give Fs. Dont take her ever. Not good
I don't know what that other person was talking about. They must not have done the work. As long as you do the HW's the tests are a BREEZE! The material can be boring at times, but she tries to relate topics to things students can understand. She even gives chances for extra credit. So do the work, and you will get easy A. Material not that hard!
One word 2 describe Huselid "BORING". If u reallu want 2 learn something take this classs with professor Nelson, he is the best. This teacher is not for people who have a full schedule or who work a full time job. Her tests r hard and the lectures are not MOTIVATING. If u want to learn u are on your own. Do your homework cause if not u will fail.
She's a great teacher but a bit tough when it comes to grading: even 1 point counts for the final grade so do all the homework and you'll do fine...tests are easy if you go to class
Prof. Huselid is absolutley fabulous. Her exams are straight forward and not long at all. Yes she assigns homework but it is only to help YOU out. She was right on point with the syllabus and she actually grades the HW and gives it back, so when exams come you're gauranteed excellent grades.
don't take this prof.
She is very nice. There is no problem to get a good grade if you understand what she want you to understand and do the HW.
She is a very nice and helpful teacher. One thing i think is key is spending time on the homeworks. some of the hws honestly took me more than 3 hours. but it's a study tool, so if you do the hwk, you ace the tests. fair trade. i think her lectures are not neccessary if you read the text but they are helpful if u didn't understand the text
She's a good, fair professor. You will have tons of homework, but in the end you'll learn a lot. She's a fair grader and allows you to drop one test grade (which means you can just skip the final if you've done good on all the other tests!)
Great professor. Always made time for students and encouraged us. Tried to do everything possible to make the subject easier.
HORRIBLE teacher.says to come to her for help if needed but it doesnt help.her tests are extremly hard and you will need to know 5 chapters at a time.long chapters.doesnt curve.does not teach well but gives no hw-i rather she would.textbook will be your life.not recomended.
She could be a better teacher probably if it weren't in a lecture hall. Lectures seem long but they are informative for her tests. However tests are mostly based on the book more so. Has a tendency not to follow her own study sheet.
She's a REALLY nice professor and because she's so nice people take advantage of her and she cant control the class. I wouldnt recommend her because she gives no homework and her tests are VERY hard. Study guides are horrible and nothing to study with for tests besides the textbook and sometimes she gives outlines.
Okay teachers. She tries to sound interesting but she's not. No homework which means your only way to get a good grade is to do good on her exams (which is pretty bad). You have to read your textbook and write your own notes (highly recommend it). Her teachings are from the book. (If you have no choice then go with her)
read your textbook!!! don't just remember definitions & facts. UNDERSTAND THEM! it's really easy to get at least a A- or B+ then if not an A.
She is very boring, puts everyone to sleep. Speeds through her lectures. Everyone gets like 60's on her test. The test are never what she puts on the review sheet. Drop it while you can.
Huselid's class, I would say, is very beneficial for those who want to go further on in Psychology. Although, it's very hard as for begginers-one has to read endless chapters and to attend the class. She speeds up the study process, but it's fine as long as you're coming to the class to learn (really learn) not just to get credit. Fair enough.
Moderately difficult. VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND. Okay, idk why everyone is complaining about her exams. I'm definitely getting an A, possibly an A+ in her class and it's not b/c i'm glued to my textbook. Since there is more material than there is classtime you can't survive solely based off of notes. shes a good teacher.Goodclass to raise average.
She's really great. Dont expect to be entertained and all in her class. Go to class, do your work, try on the online assignments. Note that you will be expected to do all 15 chapters in the book. While this is so, she puts up the lectures online, she explains, she is even willing you see you after class. Take the class and learn.

She isn't very interesting in lectures but she knows what she is talking about. As long as you attend class as well as read the book you'll do fine. Use the online resources, they will help you tremendously.
you have to work for your grade and its not easy. Shes a great prof. she cares about her students and really wants you to understand the info. Know the concepts like the back of your hand. her lectures can get a bit dull but you cant blame her. she really knows her stuff and will try very hard to get you to understand it. theres extra credit offere
Very helpful but you have to work hard for your grade. Knows what she's talking about.
Nice lady, but wow was this a boring lecture. It's way too easy (and extremely tempting) to skip, considering her exams are practically lifted entirely from the textbook, but I wouldn't recommend it. I did and found the material tougher than I anticipated. Apparently her lectures are more helpful than they seem.
Very friendly, tries to be helpful but you really need to put a lot of work into reading before she lectures to let it. She also gives a lot of HW, but it really pays off to do them since the tests are more or less the same thing. Most people won't like Psych248 either way but I highly recommend Huselid if you have to take it
Professor Huselid is very knowlegable and comfortable in this subject. She is fair and understanding. I highly reccomend her for this class.
The teacher goes quite slow. She takes her time with students and there are many opportunities to pass with a high grade. Use the textbook's summaries to get the A on the exams
Such an amazing Professor!!! really cares for her students learning. Constantly, offers help to students who need it... believe me... I was one. Overall, she nice, sweet... I even think I have an academic crush on her...
Professor Huselid is great. She knows her subject very well. She offers a lot of help. My recommendation is to really pay attention to the book since it is very easy to understand and come to lecture having read the chapter. Try to do all the HMs on time because the points are very valuable at end. Take her, she is great.
She is awful. Her power-points are word for word from the textbook. Your better off teaching the topic to yourself. She doesn't seem to know the topic very well herself. She is fairly nice, and very cheesy. She doesn't slow down if someone doesn't understand something. Always in a rush to finish the material.
Huselid is really helpful if you have trouble, but for this class you really need to read, study and understand the material in the textbook since all the txt hw, online hw, and labs are required to get an A. There is a lot of work involved. The chapter of the hw is normally taught on the day you hand it in, so you have to read it beforehand.
I don't think she was a bad professor. Her lectures are from her powerpoint and its posted on BB. Her HW is fairly easily but Aplia is hard. The labs can be difficult. She does give plenty of extra credit. Her tests are fair. The practice exams were pretty useful. Attendance is not mandatory.
Took her for psy 248. she is pretty easy but you will need to study the test book because she flys through the lectures and is not really clear. She is good on a one on one lecture. Overall i recommend her. STUDY HER PRACTICE TEST!
Great professor, if you study you will do fine in her class. She gives quite a bit of extra credit, and a lot of homework!
She has a very upbeat and positive personality, and she does come up with creative ways to make it fun. There is ALOT of work involved (HW and lab assignments). She's a very generous grader and good teacher. Sometimes she strays from the syllabus though.
Yes, there is a lot of HW but it's worth it. The textbook readings really helped me understand the material. I recommend reading the chapters before class bc I found her lectures confusing when I didn't. If you do all the assignments, it will really boost your grade if you didn't do well on the exams (she drops the lowest!) :) She's awesome!
I'm taking this course because it is part of my Psych major and I have certain reservations about this class and this professor. This class does require you to actually think and put a lot of effort into understanding the concepts. She is very good at laying out the concepts, but only under the assumption that you read the textbook.
You can definitely expect a higher work load for this course, but Prof Huselid finds a lot of ways to make it easier. Personally, it frustrates me when she makes comments like, "I found this one easy," or, "I'm not sure why you got that wrong." But other than that, I'd say she's a good professor. This is not the kind of class that you can BS.
Not helpful at all, whatever is in the book is in the class. Not clear at all, makes it more confusing then what it is. Dont take her
She is one of the best professors I could take for psych 248. I was slacking behind a little bit but she was always there to help and solve any confusions. Gives you tons of extra credit so you can boost up your grade. However homework is mandatory so don't forget. I will love to take her again for all my classes!! Well knowledge professor.
She is one of the best professors in hunter college I took her twice, I didn't do well the first time I took her class but she is phenomenal. Assigns homework but doing it and keeping up is definitely key. She's always willing to answer any questions and provide help.
If you ever take 248 with her make sure you're on top of everything, that means lab work, homework, and online hws. These are critical to passing her class. And don't get lazy you'll fall behind in class. But overall she's a great prof!
She is a sweet professor, always willing to help. Her exams are tricky but she is willing to offer extra credit and curve exams. Provides review sheets for her exams and helpful when answering questions.
I absolutely love her! She's the best for psych 248. She is always willing to help and she gives extra credit to students for even showing up to class. She has an amazing and bubbly personality. Her tests are straightforward, never tricky. Expect homework! However, the homework is very useful for practicing the concepts. I highly recommend her!
Professor Huselid is a caring person who will answer your questions no matter how ridiculous. She is a bit weird, I think. She tries to joke around and brighten up power point presentations with little sayings and cartoons, but they make her laugh much more than the students. Her innocent humour might even come across as offensive to some people.
Very good professor if you're interested in taking a psychology class. Professor Huselid gives 3 writing assignments, 4 exams (1 is cumulative), a couple of chapter quizzes, and a bunch of extra credit opportunities. The best part about her is that she's very friendly and cares about her students. Take her class, you won't regret it.
There were 4 test multiple choice but not the easiest. Assignments on Blackboard, and online weekly chapter quizzes. She took attendance a few times. the class test scores ranged in the 70's. Small clips of videos in class which are on the test. Her review sheets were just section from the textbook. You also need the access code for the textbook.
She was awesome! her workload is not too much and also not too little. her reviews before exams are very helpful and she gives out many opportunities for extra credit which some are very fun like talking about your life. would definitely take her again
Her lectures are very enjoyable! She shows lots of videos! There are 4 exams, 3rd cumulative, lowest dropped. You have to buy the textbook and do online quizzes every week! She also does about 5 BB Assignments! For tests, you really have to study! Read the textbook and attend lecture WHILE studying the the textbook and lecture notes! You'll ace it!
Heres what you need to know: if you don't read the txtbook before class, you'll sit in class unable to participate, cause you don't know anything. She wants participation but doesnt force it. She gives a lot of xtra credit. Two group proj, one individual paper, one final paper, one presentation. I did well in the class cause i studied like no tmrw
There is a good amount of homework assigned but it helps to prepare you for the tests, 3 tests and a final but the lowest test grade gets dropped. there is online homework so you have to buy the online textbook at least to get an access code, she posts her lectures on blackboard and really help for the tests, overall pretty good professor :)
A pleasure to learn with such Professor! Always appreciates participation and attendance by giving opportunities for extra credit.
Great choice for Psych248. If you read the textbook and do the hw on time before coming to class, it makes your life easier. You have to commit a lot of time in studying but the effort will pay off at the end. Her lectures and handouts summarize the content well but it will be confusing if you are seeing the material for the first time. EC given.
Easy A makes a boring class somewhat interesting
Dr. Huselid is one of the coolest professors Ive ever met. She genuinely cares about her students, and is a true gem. Dont hesitate to take her class!
She is very friendly and cheerful. Class content was hard. Her presentations were funny but sometimes she sped through them. She was really great with her office hours and very helpful when I had problems with the homework.
While she is very nice, the way she teaches this class is not good. Most of the time, you have to read the chapter and complete the homework to be graded BEFORE she actually teaches it to you. Why are we paying tuition to teach ourselves? Math is something that is learned better by seeing examples and explanations, not by reading it in a textbook.
1) Disorganized: almost EVERY calculation she showed in the class had some type of mistake; was late to her exams which resulted in low exam scores - people simply didn't have time to complete her HARD exams 2) Her exams are purposely made for you to fail: she gives lots of written work + multiple choice questions in a matter of 1 hour and 15mins.
Reading the textbook is a must (online version, but also get paper version so you can use for Psych 250. 4 exams, 1 optional; online hw; paper homework and lab. A lot, but GOOD practice for the exams. Gave lots of extra credit (have to be in class to get). Provided practice exams before each exam. Hw provide the best points so do them!
Her TAs taught me more than she did. Rushes through PP, doesnt double-check own work before bringing into lectures, resulting in confusion and unprofessionalism, very inconsistent with what she says she will give you in terms of extra credit, only gave 1 study review ONE day b4 final & had very limited office hours. Do NOT take. Spare urself!
If you're debating on whether to take her for your psych248 class, I would say NO! Her test are very hard, and she doesn't know how to properly communicate steps for the work given. I suggest you take Professor Robinson!!!!
Forgiving grader and makes sure you understand the concepts
I like the way you are graded for this class, everything is really broken up. DO THE HOMEWORK AND DO IT RIGHT!!! It's a great way to get your grade up. She really does care and is amazing when she teaches one on one during office hours, but she was pretty confusing when teaching in class. Maybe because of the class size more than anything else.
I did not like this professor's teaching method. You have to do the homework, which you are harshly graded on, before she lectures and basically teach yourself the topic so going to lecture is useless (except to hand in the hw). HW barely gets any feedback even with a low grade. Pro is she gave good practice tests and you can drop lowest exam.
Teach yourself. Makes you feel stupid when asking questions? Go for help says you don't get it and study more. Uncaring. Teaches "old style" Lab is all computer. Other professors use computer only - take that one. This is a hard class and you need a good professor. DO NOT TAKE HER.
She gives you all the material you need to get an A. If you don't get an A it's not the professor's fault. She provides a detailed syllabus when things are due, lecture slides are posted, extra credit assignments, practice exams, formula sheets for every exam. She is available to her students: office hours and email. Expect written/online hw.
PSYCH 248 is a difficult class, no matter what professor you take it with. Dr. Huselid is a kind individual that does her best to accommodate questions and concerns. However, she does not do a great job at breaking down difficult concepts and you need to attend tutoring/recitation to fully grasp the material. This class is a full time job.
Dr. Huselid is super nice. I only attended her class for that reason. Honestly, if you're a good independent studier (and especially if you've taken Stats before) you'll be fine to never go to class. The book is super helpful. I will say, it felt like there was SO MUCH homework... but if you do it all, you'll learn everything you need to get an A.
Make sure you do your homework! This is a two part class with a lab, and she is the lecture professor. She is very kind and caring and wants you to succeed in class. It was not the easiest class I took but I got an A because I worked really hard. I think she is a fair grader. I would recommend taking her.
Very kind and caring professor. Her assignments are thoughtful and actually helpful in real life. Tests are fair and homework is light. This is an easy course I would recommend.
Dr. Huselid is really caring. She has several assignments that focus on applying concepts learned in class to improving aspects of your life. She gives really nice feedback and encouragements. Four exams, lowest grade dropped. WileyPlus online textbook service. All chapter quizzes are on WileyPlus.
There is a lot of work that has to be done in the class, at the very minimum you're doing 2 homeworks, 2 quizzes, and a lab every week. The class starts easy but it ramps up very quickly, you need to attempt to learn the material and focus. Huselid is an amazing professor that tries to explain concepts as simply as possible. She's honestly amazing.
Rebecca seems very nice when she extends hw, and allows for prolonged quiz due dates. However, that facade is completely shattered when exams are taken, and quizzes are graded. Quoted,"Scores I give don't matter in the grand scheme of things." She will not fix her scoring errors for students, hates and blames them for poor grades. DO NOT TAKE HER
DO NOT BELIEVE THE GOOD REVIEWS (its probably the professor talking about herself) THIS CLASS IS THE WORST CLASS EVER DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR SHE DOES NOT CARE AT ALL ABOUT YOU. 2 LONG CHAPTERS EVERY WEEK, SHE EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW EVERYTHING SHE IS teaching EXAMS? VERY LIMITED TIME TO DO A BUNCH OF MC AND EVEN EXPECTS CALCULATIONS??
Avoid at all costs. She is judgemental of questions. Might even say she doesn't have time for them. Invalidates us 24/7. The test avg is always like a 60. If you got something wrong on a quiz or test, but it was actually correct, she refuses to give the point back. Doesn't teach well. If you have no choice and it's remote, just look at the slides.
One thing is that her good reviews are not from students but from herself or TA's so be careful. She is not caring at all, she gaslights students and gets annoyed when we ask her questions. She acts condescending when we ask for help and blames us for such mediocre teaching. Acts like 4 students getting above the 90s is a good thing too.
I thought I'd jump on here and warn my fellow peers. If I could rate her a zero, I would. I do not know where to begin my list of grievances. Be prepared to teach yourself throughout the course because she is of no help. Her lectures are useless and a huge waste a time. The exams are unreasonably difficult. This class shortened my life span.
Every single week you will be doing 2 long homework that is not graded fairly where a question could affect your whole homework grade, I once got a 1.8/3 because I didn't specify one thing in the conclusion meaning that it, not a small number of points that she takes off its a chunk and she doesn't care. You will be also doing 2 quizzes and a lab.
Has high expectations for her students which can be a good or bad thing depending on the type of student you are. A lot of people are giving her a bad rep because statistics is a complex course and in many ways, demanding. If you know how to manage study time and deadlines then you will do good! . Respectfully, I think she was wonderful.
I personally liked the way she set up the class, I had to teach myself some chapters but she provided a lot of resources to help understand the topics. There is lot of homework due in a short time period but she was so lenient with deadlines &gave a lot of extra credit. If it wasn't for the intense homework, I would've struggled on the exams.
Psych248 is a difficult class to pass in general but Huselid makes it more difficult because shes not the best at teaching it. If youre good at self teaching itd work out because she provides a lot of resources. Theres a lot of homework and quizzes but the main exams are the most difficult overall. This class takes up A LOT of time.
Im not the worst at statistics given I got an A in it but this class was different. Theres a lot of homework due its like as soon as you finish one theres another due and it can be tricky to manage with other classes. I attended the lectures but only with a little volume on, I taught myself lol. If you try hard youll pass maybe even get an A.
I am honestly surprised by the number of students who have posted demeaning rates about her, after she has been so considerate about the homework extensions. She provides excessive number of sources to help us understand a challenging subject like Statistics., especially her PPT examples with calculations. Her assessments were correspondent w/them.
her lectures are heavy, take this course only if u are able to provide lots of time on hw. Dr Huselid is great, the amount of times she understood me, helped me I cant thank her enough. It was all tough but she does care for you guys, I don't understand the mean comments. Working remotely she is trying to do her best. Thank you professor Huselid...
There are a LOT of resources and practice problems given to properly prepare for the exams. The work is manageable enough, and the professor is open to extending due dates if the class needs more time.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She is an extremely harsh grader with little to no empathy for her students. Attended office hours and felt belittled by her. She has no understanding for how dense of a course load this is, and the strain it could take on her students.
worst professor I've ever had, including one that threw pencils at us. She wasted no time ridiculing me when I posed an issue accessing materials. She also implied that we were too dumb to answer her questions despite several of us saying we couldn't access the chat. The class was a loss so I left, in tears. never had a teacher so condescending
In my own experience, Professor Hueslid's class really ruined my mental health. This is a really heavy course. She doesn't teach and glazes over the topics as if it's a refresher and expects you to know the info. LOTS OF HW! Just make sure to teach yourself if you end up taking her. There are a lot of resources to help you pass but very draining.
IF YOU PUT THE WORK IN YOU'LL GET A GOOD GRADE!!!! I suck at all math but I did well. If you read the textbook, do the work and ask questions when you need help- you'll do great. She has lots of tests, quizzes, and homework, so your grade is spread out. Allowed to have a calculator and formula sheet during exams.
you HAVE to put the work in.. other 200 psych classes don't compare to this one. its difficult but manageable if you STAY ON TOP of HW! PS, calculations are important for her exams, but concepts even more!! know them well. also GO TO CLASS- she gives handouts + practice tests + ext credit.
Okay if you have some grasp for statistics. Classes are boring and hard to stay awake in. Demanding and rude.
Don't know what the person below is talking about. This professor is very sweet and straightforward. If you don't put in the work, of course, you will fail. Lots of HW, to be expected. Show up for class! Test reviews given before the test are accurate to the actual test. Show up to class- she gives lots of handouts that are helpful.
It's a hard class but she does what she can to help us understand the material. There is a lot of extra credit and recitations with tutors, so that's helpful. I was scared at the beginning bc of reviews but she ended up being okay. Tests are difficult but managable if you do homework, handouts, and go to review sessions.
248 is demanding. My advice: stay on top of HW, go to tutoring, go to lab, do all the extra credit possible, and study early for exams. She can be straighforward and at times rude and disrespectful. There's always a nicer way for her to say things. This class is doable, you just need to dedicate yourself. Do what you need to do and you'll be fine.
She was a horrible professor, LEARNED NOTHING. i would ask for help and no help was given. she would read slides and not teach a single thing. My classmates taught me better than she did
For Your Metal Peace don't take this professor she is not understandable, her class is very difficult in my case I passed the lab with A- but I failed her class Just because I failed 2 exams. Her Hw some of the are difficult but with her you always will be extremely stressed. Don't take this professor never.
Do all the handouts and practice problems. Do HW before lecture, attend lecture to see how to solve the items where you're stuck. If tutoring didn't help, see her at her office hours to explain bigger picture concepts. I wish she posted covid lecture videos like she used to bc she skips around a lot in class - it's helpful to pause to do the math.
PSYCH248 is a challenging course, but manageable with dedication. Utilize resources like tutoring, study groups, and unstuck AI for test prep. The professor can be direct, but is helpful if you engage.
