She is a great prof. It's not essential to come to class however, the short answers are mainly based on what she says during lectures. Read the textbook twice to get an A.I really enjoyed her stories during class. Definitely take her class!
Honestly the most interesting prof I have had, Her stories and way of teaching help you actually relate to the material. She cares about students understanding the material. However you still must read the book thoroughly, since must of the multiple choice is from there. Lectures arent mandatory. short answers come from her lectures.
She is awesome in the way presenting matterials never get bored of her lectures
Junks was probably the best prof I've had at York during my first year. You can tell she really cares about her students and wants the to succeed. Her tests aren't to difficult if you study thoroughly from both lecture notes and the text. Loved this class!
AMMMAAAZING!!! best prof in my first year of uni. As long as you study and put in the work, you will se results. Jubis is not out to trick you! If you study hard, you will find her class very very easy and fun. Highly recommended.
Excellent Prof!!! All multiple choice tests... I got a C+ but that's just because Psych is not my fav subject. I found her tests quite tricky. You Need to come to class and read the text and you will do well. Overall I go a bad mark but course materials are interesting.
Provided absolutely nothing on moddle! No videos, no notes. Nothing!!! You basically taught yourself. I can't comment on her lecture but definitely do not take the online class.
Easy A+ for those seeking GPA boost. Attend lectures (about 10-15 questions from lecture), and then make sure to be focused on the text book. Easy A+ if you attend lectures, and easy A if you just read the book.
Great Prof. with a good sense of humour. Her lectures basically goes through the main points of the textbook chapter while clarifying them with examples. You can do well just attending the lectures, but an A+ requires reading the textbook. Test material is from both text and lectures, but short answers are only from what she covers in lectures.
She is an awesome teacher
One of the best profs at York. She makes lectures interesting and explains all concepts clearly. Multiple choice questions are a bit tricky, but an A is achievable. Highly Recommend!
Prof. Jubis is wonderful. Great energy (especially considering it was a 8:30am class. Very clear, uses a lot of real world examples to help students understand.
amazing prof.. got me into psych.. mad me love it and become interested.. full of energy, writes on board so it helps you retain rather than just boring ppts.
she is the best prof at york. psych 1010 was one of the most fun and interesting courses I've ever taken. she made me fall in love with psych and switch majors! but be warned, its probably only because she is so amazing and made everything interesting. I had to switch back to my original major (bio) in the end.
Absolute sweetheart but her tests are very difficult and most of the questions are not related to course content. Offers lots of opportunities to get help and her lectures are informative and engaging.
She's a good Prof, Easy to listen to , Tests are fair doesn't try to trick you either you know it or you don't ....
Shes amazing. the tests are super easy if you read the modules assigned. i never went to class, i just read the posted TA notes and did all the module readings. be prepared to read the whole textbook because thats what the tests are based off.
Thoroughly enjoyed being in Prof Jubis' class. She is a great teacher, keeps the class interesting and is very helpful. The tests are mostly based on the textbook, which she does a pretty good job of covering in lectures. Nonetheless, there are some questions on tests from lectures. Thus, I recommend attending lectures.(:
She is a great professor who is willing to help you as long as you show that you make an effort in her class. Her tests are really fair and her assignments also. This course does involve a lot of reading but if the readings are completed and lectures attended getting an A shouldn't be a problem
She is very clear in her lectures, and all them material she teaches will be on the test, so make sure to come to every class because there are no recordings. She makes class very enjoyable with her sense of humor and the examples she uses to relate back to the material. There is a lot of reading in the textbook, but reading is a must to pass !!
Loved professor . Weekly (online) quizzes that are easy to pass if you read the chapters. The group project is a bit of work but if you put in the effort and pick an interesting topic its not too bad. She was super helpful during the project. One of the few teachers I went to during office hours. Overall I really enjoyed her class.
Good prof for 1010. Lectures are amazing and she does a really good job at keeping the students engaged and interested throughout the lecture. All the tests are multiple choice and can have word play sometimes which makes it difficult.
To be fair, was very nice and seemed very approachable throughout most of the semester. However, when the strike came along it seemed as if she became much more stern with students exercising their rights. Did not post announcements giving students a better idea of what the best course of action was, showed her true colors to some regard.
It was a waste of time. She is not interested to teach and she does not know what to teach. I would keep away from her.
She is one of my favourite profs! She keeps the class interesting and she explains concepts very well. Reading the textbook is a must if you want a good mark but you can still get an average mark by only attending lecture. Her tests are fair--if you study, you'll get a good mark. Overall, she's an incredible teacher & I absolutely loved this class.
Her lectures are really interesting and fun to go to, but TAS post clear lecture notes online. However, all reading are essential to get a good mark on the tests. Her Tests were really fair if you put the time to study To do well you must read all the assigned chapters and posted TA notes . I would recommend take PSYCH 1010 with her awesome prof!
Prof Jubis is one of the best professors I've ever had in my 4 years. She has a great sense of humor ,she keeps the class engaged in the material and she is always willing to answer any questions in class. I couldn't have asked for a better prof to finish my time here at York. I highly recommend!
shes great, very helpful. but u do have to study to get a good grade. go to lecture and read the text
I took her online PSYC 1010 course and she was not helpful at all, would email her and would be rude in responding and is not willing to help students who take the extra step into doing well. She about her self unless you can handle teaching yourself do not take her.
She is awesome! I will take ANY class taught by her
Great Professor, Fair Tests
amazing and very straight forward. Testing is based on her lectures and shes very clear and precise in her lectures. Awesome teacher.
One of the best professors at York, Dr. Jubis is an excellent lecturer, writes fair exams, and is one of the most caring professors you will experience at any university. Try not to miss any lectures, not just because you need them to succeed in the course, but because you will miss out on a genuinely enjoyable experience. Incredible professor!
She was an AMAZING prof! Lectures were just an extension of the readings, but she had a great way of making the content more clear and more understandable. 8 tests, all multiple choice, straight forward if you've studied.
Lectures are very clear and exams are fair. Study the text and you will do fine.
No need to attend class at all, everything from textbook, her lectures are long and she has NO notes (writes on board). Tests are straight from Qbank, very very easy but you need to score high because the assignment is graded harshly. On tests, try to understand concepts very well (there aren't many), no memorization needed for the most part.
Her psyc 1010 course had very clear lectures and straight forward tests (all multiple choice, no trick questions). Reading the textbook is a must because she doesn't cover all of the content in it but will test on anything in the assigned readings and mentioned in lectures. She was funny, and charismatic in lectures.
Very enthusiastic and engaging in lectures
Awesome prof! Loved her. She was able to make a class like research methods interesting and not a pain to go to. Read the textbookattend lectures and it's an easy A. I definitely recommend her class :)
Loved her! Her lectures were always interesting and easy to follow. Most of her lecture material comes directly from the textbook, so if you miss a few classes, it will not affect you. Her tests were fair and easy. She is a great professor!
You can skip her class and still get an A. Her lectures are concise and she's friendly. Read the material and you'll get an easy A. Recommended.
Prof. Jubis is an amazing prof, so much so that I am taking another class with her this year. Her lectures are great and many say you don't have to show up but with this prof, you want to show up because her lectures are not boring at all and are a pleasure to go to. She really knows what she's talking about and I was lucky to have her for PSYC1010
Had her in 2013 and she was great. Very funny, enthusiastic lecturer who made the content clear. Course required 4 multiple choice tests and participation in academic psych studies (worth like 4%). She made what would be on the tests very clear and they were not hard. I admit I barely attended class by the end but did the readings and got an A.
You know a professor is good if they manage to make you fall in love with the subject they're teaching. I hated Psychology from high school, but Prof. Jubis made the material fun to learn. Lectures were great: it's completely live-chalkboard based, with a nice, no-stress pace. If you get the choice to take Jubis for Psyc, do it! You won't regret it
The best prof I've had at York. She's helpful, funny and knows her material well. If I could I would take all my psychology courses with her. She writes on the board instead of using slides which actually makes it a more engaging class, but also means you MUST attend lectures to do well. Clear about what will be on the test and gives hits in class.
Shes amazing!
Class was very clear-cut. Not a fan of her lectures, found them to be repetitive and she does not post slides ,so attendance is necessary. Also found her to be extremely unhelpful over email. However, she simplifies the material and the tests are not hard. Would recommend if you don't care about enjoying the class and just want to get through it,
Great Professor and her lectures are interesting! Posts lecture notes via TAs on moodle after every lecture. Tests are easy if you keep up with notes/readings. Very clear on what she expects from everyone.
Jubis is an EXCELLENT professor. Not many are interested in what they teach but she definitely is. Make sure you get to class and study the material by going over lecture notes and you should be fine. Not many assignments, just tests. If you work hard, your mark will definitely reflect. Easy B+
To the point lectures, material presented in a very easy to digest manner and she was interesting enough to listen to. Text was decent, read it for a high mark but you can pass without it. Assignments were a bit unclear at times. Easy exams.
Most inspirational professor!
She's great!
She is an amazing professor, attend the class and you will understand the materials however the exams are from the text book not her lectures, Attend Exam Aid SOS - Exams are really long and mainly about the main names in psychology! Be ready to read !
LOVE HER!! I already loved psychology before I entered university, but she's so passionate about it. Love the examples she gives in class and she is very polite to students. I am looking forward to my career in Psychology!
her tests are very hard
I found her class to be very repetitive, although her delivery was clear. The course content itself is pretty dry - so the class itself is a bit boring. Tests are okay but studying the textbook well is a MUST in order to get an A. I found the assignment, however, to be a grade booster. Attendance is necessary because she does not post any slides!
Dr Jubis is a wonderful instructor. She is quite high strung so if you have an issue with anxiety she might make it worse but I love her. I have ADD so I a really hard for me to focus and concentrate during class.... Her method of teaching is very deliberate and emphatic and prevents me from drifting off into a daydream. tests are fair if you study
Shes absolutely awesome! Had her for Intro Psych and I made sure I took Research Methods with her too! I would without a doubt take ANY course taught by her. 95% of test is based on lectures and she tells you what short answers will be on! Very clear lectures. Shes super likeable! my fav. prof ever by far!!
Great psych 1010 prof. make sure to pay attention in class as it helps cut down the reading you have to do to study for a test In which contain around 120 multiple choice questions so you gotta know your stuff.
if you ever need an easy elective to take, take psych 1010 all you need to do is read the note, textbook, come to class, answer test bank and you will get an A+. warning- there is a short answer class don't take it cause some of the ta's can be wicked, take only the multiple choice class. Also no lecture recording for the class
Lectures are interesting, always makes sure the class understands material; gives great examples, too. Textbook is definitely essential to passing; exams are based on lecture + textbook content. Very funny and helpful prof!!
Best Prof I've ever had, would definitely take again. Material of course was very boring, but she found a way to make it interesting.
Be sure to take her 11:30-1:00 class on Tuesdays/Thursdays. Take advantage of her 8 tests, her assignment, as well as the bonus assignment. Need to study well in advantage, and follow each lecture accordingly, can get congested closer to each of the tests, as they are back to back. Amazing prof!
Dr. Jubis was very clear from the beginning in terms of what she expects from you. Readings are long, however, if you do them before lectures, she regurgitates information with some clarification on topics. I was in the T/R 11:30am, and we only had multiple choice tests which was an advantage. Test-banks really helped! Take good notes+study A.
Her lectures are amazing but she makes tricky tests, if you have not read the textbook well, you will have a hard time in this class. Overall, Dr. Jubis is an amazing prof.
She was very rude to me a few times. not very friendly. too serious.
Her lectures are very interesting. Tests are tricky, but very straight forward. If you listen carefully in the lecture, she will for sure get some questions right on the test.
Lectures are super important and have hints for short answers which is sort of helpful (TAs mark pretty hard for these). Testbanks are your best friend and read the textbook to succeed. Take PSYC 1010 with her if you can! I did poorly in the beginning because I procrastinated but managed to improve later. DON'T PROCRASTINATE if you want to do well!
great prof
This was a straightforward course. There are four tests and no final exam. You should read your textbook and make notes. Get a hold of test banks! Great practice! Do you work and you should be able to get A/A+ I got an A+ btw.
Jubis is such an easy prof- if you don't need help. She won't help you in any way, shape or form, even if you have documented mental health or learning disability issues. She is fair by her word, but if you're at a disadvantage in any way, you won't be receiving any sort of compensation or extra help.
AMAZING I had her for research methods as well 3 shes very kind. study and u will do well
Took online course with her. 4 tests, URPP assignment, optional bonus assignment, no final. She gives hints for the tests and its format is MC and short answer questions. I liked the textbook because they explained the concepts in a dummy-proof way lol. Keep up with readings and study them for tests and you'll be fine in this course.
Loved her, such a great prof. She gives lots of examples and knows what shes talking about. Textbook is really needed in this class as I found myself studying off my notes yet doing bad in her tests. All tests are multiple choice. Make sure to do the URPP extra credit. Most people need it.
AWESOME!
She teaches so you are very intrigued! She gives times for asking questions, does not call anyone out in class and she stays positive and energetic the entire lecture. Definitely recommend.
Her lectures are extremely engaging and interesting. She explains concepts well with very good examples so they stick to your memory for years. Her tests are designed cleverly, but they aren't tricky (you need to understand the concepts). She's also a good-nature person too: non-judgmental&humble (well-balanced).
She gives great lectures, but these don't help you succeed in the class. It is all textbook based, there is no reason to go to lectures at all, THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU! She also does not care about her students at all, you are just a number to her. Overall her tests are not hard if you study the textbook and memorize all the obscure details from it
great lectures, easy tests if you study and attend lectures
Only 4 tests for the entire year and no exam. Read the textbook, go to class, listen to her and you'll get a good grade.
I had her for a 3 hour night class on mondays, amazing prof who will you keep you engaged and interested throughout the whole 3 hours. Definitely recommended
Crazy amount to read. Her course was essentially 4 non-cumulative tests. the lecture's consists of random parts of the textbook, and you have no idea which part of the textbook she drew the info from. The tests are easy IF you read the textbook; lectures are essentially pointless. Also, the tests are fully based on the textbook and not the lectures
She delivers the lectures in a fun way. Overall, she's great.
Tests based on tutorial and readings. Sometimes the tests will specifically ask a question on a small note on the side of one of the readings so you must know THE ENTIRE PAGE! She does give extra credit assignments if you need it. 4 tests- 2- 28% 2- 20% all multiple choice with 4 short answer
veery interesting lectures! If you read the textbook, you will do well on tests.
If your timetable is already full with heavy reading-based courses, don't take this. Reading materials for this course are INTENSE.
for her class make sure you know everything from the textbook and every single thing she says in lectures. her class is okay - kinda boring but she tries to get class involved and is obviously passionate about her psych. tests are mostly multiple choice with a couple of short answers. had no exam for the course
I took Jubis for Research Methods and she is a very well-spoken and respected professor. She is very helpful and loves participation. Her marking is fair and I would take her again.
you do have to study and read the text book because alot of what is on the tests is not taught in lecture but it's not difficult to get an A/A+ in the course. Make sure to do the URPP and extra credit assignment because it could make a difference in a letter grade.
Lecture are long (3 hours), sometimes 2.5hrs but they're important as she gives hints for exams! For short answers she practically tells you what the questions will be based on. Easy A but there is def a lot of reading. Make sure to do the URPP and extra credit, helps bump your mark! Her exams had 120 questions mc but she started to make it shorter
Great lectures, she made them interactive and interesting, despite having a 3 hour long class on a Friday evening!
People say she gives a lot of reading but it really isn't that bad compared to other courses. lectures are really interesting and you can tell shes passionate about what she teaches. She gives extra credit too which is awesome. She also had lecture notes posted. Study those and do your readings for your tests and itll be a breeze. 10/10 prof
Terrible Terrible Terrible! I am shocked she has many reviews, I'd say its because she is passionate about the subject and clearly cares. However, her tests are rigged and very difficult, and I average B+ grades. I have a friend who also took her class and had the same difficulty and frustration. Just Awful.
she is very nice and teaches great but you will have to study hard, and there is a lot of reading involved
Shoutout to science/biology majors who chose PSYC 1010 over PHYS 1410/1420: welcome to the full year course that's going to bring your mark up (or keep it up, I guess). Intro Psyc is common-sense psychology with a few terms you gotta remember, but that's p. much it. If you're doing it with Jubis, you're set. Forget the book, just show up to class.
there's soooooo much reading to do and her tests are actually hard. I'm an A student, who writes notes for everything, and studies everything and it was still hard for me. I'm at a B+ right now, and I need an A by the end or else imma be mad cuz this was my bird course. theres 4% u can get 100 in from doing urpp research studies, and 2% bonus.
It's not a bird course (hard to get an A). It starts off easy in the first sem, but now I am reading 40 pages (3 hours) every week. It's interesting content though but id rather not. LECTURESUSELESS Fun lectures since she only teaches the interesting parts and leaves the hard parts for you read on your own which is what you're tested on .
A great professor, she explains well and always answers your questions and never makes you feel silly! She's kind and caring and wears very unique and cute clothes to class lol. Tests can get detailed though, and not all the material is covered in lecture, so make sure you read the textbook!! Would take her as a prof again, 10/10 :)
By far my favorite professor! Amazing lectures. She explains the material very well and is very approachable. Her tests are content heavy, but if you do the readings, you will be fine.
She is a great professor. Although my course was online, she responds to her emails quick and she is very approachable. The tests were all based on the textbook, so reading is mandatory even for an online course. Anyways, she always puts her students first.
Honestly taking this course online was a mistake. You only get four tests for the whole course which consists of around 100 multiple choice and 3 short answers. The multiple choice is focused on your understanding concepts and being able to apply them to anything. I would have rather taken this course in class, not online.
One of the best profs i have ever had. Her lectures are so clear, she explains everything very well and spends time making sure that you understand the material. You definitely need to come to her class because she does not post any material online. She writes notes on the chalkboard so make sure you sit up close. Her tests are very fair.
Unprofessionally moody and rude! Wants minimal questions from students.
I had her for the online 1010 not too bad. However, there is a lot of chapters to read and tests are difficult too many concepts. Over 70 students dropped the course. Half the glass what B and over on tests and the other was under B. There was probably only 10 A+ and 14 A out of like 180 so you do the math. I wouldnt take it if not mandatory.
Great prof! Tests are super straight forward, she makes everything sound like common sense. As long as you do the readings and take notes on the readings, you will be 100% fine. The lecture content is basically supplementing the course text for this class. She will only cover harder concepts in lecture, so be ready to read!
She is a great and entertaining prof, but the lectures are not that important. The tests were 95% textbook and 5% lecture. Her tests are super easy if you do the readings and she gives hints on what the short answer questions will be.
Good prof. Very clear and thorough. She becomes very agitated and excited throughout the lecture but it is what keeps her going from teaching and having the class engaged within the 3 hour time. She gives multiple, short answers in her 3 exams. 1 assignment which was really easy.
We didn't have any online lectures so it was basically read at home and give the exam. That said, the prof was very helpful, TAs were also helpful.I would take more classes with this prof, but not online ones.
I had Prof Jubis for Psych1010 and Psych2030. She is an amazing prof and I would definitely take another class with her again. She is engaging and makes the material extremely easy to understand. If you show up to class, do the readings and take good notes there's no way you cannot do well in her class. Tests are easy and straightforward.
She is overhyped. This course is not a bird course! Lots of readings and even after reading and understanding everything, the m/c questions were difficult.
Jubis is a solid choice for research methods. She thoroughly teaches what is in the textbook so reading the book is super quick. Fair tests and assignment!!
Jubis is very entertaining. She keeps you laughing the whole lecture and makes psych easy and enjoyable. The tests are straight forward and as long as you attend class and study the modules in the book, you'll be fine. There is an opportunity for extra credit as well. She's willing to answer questions. Do not take psychology with any other prof!!
So passionate about her teachings aia love her lectures.
Difficult. Must go to class because she doesnt post anything. she writes on the chalk board. Short answers on exam is difficult
She is so passionate about her teaching. I find I laugh a lot and she has a lot of anecdotes incorporated into her teaching.
Amazing speaker and professor. Very entertaining, uses many examples and makes 3 hours enjoyable and informative. However, do your readings in detail to do well on tests. Know small details.
Prof Jubis really knows how to give a solid, clear lecture. She breaks the material down very well, gives excellent study guidelines for exams and overall wants her students to succeed by setting them up suffeciently. I found it hard to get over 80% on her exams however, I was always on the cusp. The wording on them could be a little confusing.
Great pof
Not a good professor. Class average for all tests were below 55 percent. Does not post material online or have powerpoints. Must go to class to pass.
I don't understand why the tests were so hard in this course. I studied my butt off and I could only get a bad grade. Her tests and assignments are brutal and it is impossible to get marks on the short answer section of her tests. That is how hard it is. Also, the way her assignment was graded and marked was beyond ridiculous and crazy.
She evidently loves what she does. Sincerely cares for her students success. Couldnt ask for a better prof to introductory psych. Hope to get again in the future.
Shes excellent!
I enjoyed this professor - she is positive, enthusiastic, and clear. She makes it easy to get a good grade in the class - show up, take notes, and do the readings. She essentially tells you what will be on the exam and she doesn't ask trick questions.
I have never done well in research methods, until I took Dr. Jubis 2030 class. She makes the material easy to understand, and puts it into real life situations so it sticks. Her tests are fair. She doesnt post lecture notes or do PowerPoint because this is a course where you need to come to class and learn. Go to class and do readings!
I found this course to be really easy. Lots of people failed/did bad and I'm not sure why. As long as you attend the lectures and take good notes and study you will do well. Lecture aren't recorded so that's the only annoying part. Prof explains concepts really well and supports question asking. She also recommends we read the textbook to do better
Honestly, this woman is amazing. I did psych1010 with her and thats a really tough course but she made everything understandable through relatable examples and upbeat lectures. She really cares about her students and is a fair marker. I would literally take ANY class Prof. Jubis teaches. Only reason I had an excellent first year. Take her class.
I studied my butt off but the course load for each test were 13-14 chapters and a lot of the information was overlapping. The professor was strict and didn't consider increasing a grade for desperate students by even 0.5% because of "policies". The TA was not helpful at all when I went to her office hours. DO NOT TAKE if you have other options!!
She is an amazing professor, I recommend that you attend lectures, read the notes and the textbook to do really well on her tests. The test questions are application based, so make sure you fully understand the concepts. She also explains it in detail in her lectures. There are 3 tests and 1 assignment. The assignment is a good grade booster.
The course is easy and fun, but the professor is not. It is really hard to get an A with her even if you work for it, so if you are looking for an A do not take it with her and look for other professors .
Lectures are not mandatory unless you need a clarification, all tests are heavily based on the textbook. Make sure you give yourself enough time to study as she assigns multiple chapters to study for each test ( about 5-12 chapters each test). If you read the textbook, you will do well on tests. Very nice prof.
Her tests were incredibly hard. our class average was so low for every test. she does give you hints beforehand for the short answers but honestly, her marking criteria is extremely hard. she does'nt post her lecture notes or anything online, she writes everything on the blackboard which is only visible to the front two rows. don't recommend her.
Hard tests, you need to read the textbook, basically impossible to pass her class unless you study every single detail in the textbook chapters.
Dr. Rebecca is one of the best professors I've ever had. She explains the concepts really well and gives a lot of examples. Make sure you attend and write notes. Also read the chapters from the textbook and watch the video assigned to get a good grade. The tests are mainly multiple choice questions ,and she gives hints for short answer questions.
If you are in general an okay student, you will do fine in her class. This profs teaching style is amazing. She writes notes on the board, gives examples, is always upbeat and uses expression. 3 hrs goes by very fast. Tests r application based. Makes difficult concepts so easy to understand.
This Prof was horrible
her tests are horrible. No Pre-test or Practice test . you have to read every single sentences to pass. not recommending at all !!
this course is not the most interesting but she really breaks down the concepts to make it simpler and more interesting. go to lectures and you will be set, then you will barely have to do the readings. her teaching style may be somewhat old school but it is effective. be aware that her TAs are not very generous markers.
Lectures were fun. She gives personal examples and details everything on a chalkboard, which is a nice change from professors reading from slides. The textbook she assigns is brilliant; there's even a portion at the beginning on how to manage your time effectively as a student. I recommend this course to everyone.
No slides or anything, it isn't necessary to go to every class. She'll drop hints about certain things that may be on the test. Learn the vocabulary and make notes on the book to study and you'll do well.
Awesome lecturer, one thing tho is always read your textbook. because the test only covers 2% on what she said in class and the remaining 98% is the textbook. great course
I took this course online. I recommend that you don't because this is a lot of theory-based and there are so many words that are so similar to each other that I got confused. I think it would better if you took this in class, at least you can ask questions. Otherwise, Professor Rubis is super easy and to the point.
Listen... if you don't attend her lectures YOU WILL NOT DO WELL. However, she's an amazing and understanding professor who explains things clearly and genuinely wants students to do well. A good grade is attainable if you put in the work but her tests are quite tricky, so it's definitely not an easy A.
Its not an easy course and her way of grading doesnt make it easier. Make sure in her short answer questions, provide more details than she asked for. She is very tough on her grading.
Make sure you give her more than she asks in her exam or assignment. She doesn't ask for it in the question but she wants those comprehensive answers. She is not open to feedback. Not a good class to get an A.
I expected to do better in this class because I did well with her in Intro. I found not only the material to be more difficult but also her exam questions more challenging. A lot of material to cover and a lot of reading. The most weight falls on the toughest exams which doesn't help.
Must attend every second class and pay attention, but best prof at York, hands down! I love her class even though its extremely content heavy! LOVE HER!
Her lectures and book are not connected. She is not providing slides, and her exams are very difficult and ambiguous.
She is an excellent professor. She gives plenty of examples when explaining. She is also quite entertaining.
One of the best professors I've had in my time at York. Rebecca has a lot of integrity, and truly does her best for her students. She approaches the material from a nice middle ground between stern and sympathetic. She is very considerate of the chaos of student life, she does not test on hard facts and historical events, only the main concepts.
First exam class average was 58.2 I have never seen so many failing grades in my life... Thats all I am going to say...
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER. It's so bad that I made a rate my professors account. I'm sure she was great in Psych 1010 ( didn't have her) but terrible in this class. She just talks and uses paper notes (doesn't post anything) No slides/PowerPoint to refer back to. She is very very disorganized. The class average was 58. Exams are confusing.
Professor is very disorganized. Would not recommend. Attendance is a must because she doesn't post anything on Moodle.
do NOT take her for 2030... her tests are often unrelated to her lecturing material - the class average is under 60%. she is unmotivating, boring and is extremely rude when a student answers a question wrong. also, with the current covid-19 crisis she had done absoletely nothing to help her students out. it appears that she teaches to fail students
She doesn't post anything. She gives hints to questions on the midterms but expects way more than she asks for in the question. You HAVE to attend lectures, take thorough notes, and also be ready to skim through the textbook to do decent.
She writes on the board with her bad handwriting. She cannot answer your questions properly. She makes the questions hard and her lectures are boring.
Dr. Jubis knows her material well and explains very thoroughly. The tests are mostly based on her lectures and there are no slides or notes for moodle. However, I found the textbook to be an excellent support for studying. Didn't love the distribution of grading criteria. But if you attend all lectures and read, you'll do well anyway!
Great professor, amazing lecture. class is not easy per say but she makes sure you know what and where to study. overall could not ask for better
She is HORRIBLE and she told the class that half of students will fail her class on the first day. STAY AWAY.
She's an excellent explainer of tough material. Would certainly take a course with her again.
If you do your readings you will quickly realize that most of the lecture material is in your textbook. Makes me wonder why I even attended her lectures sometimes. She is also a VERY hard marker, and does not explain written assignments well. Very test heavy, most of multiple choice questions also come from the textbook not lectures. Hated it.
Professor Judis gives amazing lectures, gives time for questions, includes the students, and also makes jokes. Tests contain information that is in the textbook that she never mentions which really affected me since I never expected the workload but she is always ready to answer any question or help you understand better the readings.
Amazing prof, honestly respected her throughout the course, was caring gave feedback where necessary, very thoughtful and had passion for teaching this course. This course had a lot of memorization but the things you learn it's new and relatable meaning she does her best to make it relate to you for u to understand properly. I would take her again
Lectures were nice to listen to but most of the test questions were from the textbook, lot of reading ,exams had about 100 mc questions.
I enjoyed her class and would take a class with her again! She was very articulate and simplified material very well. We had 4 exams almost entirely based on the textbook, and an opt bonus exercise. Make sure to attend the last lecture before each exam because she gives out the short answer questions. Don't take it as a bird if you're first year
Beware, her emails are very ragey. Also grading criteria is whack, since it's only 4 multiple choice exams. It's definitely not a bird course I'm in my fourth year and the class mean was 69% so only take it if you're willing to work for it. Otherwise, the material was very interesting and I enjoyed her lectures!
If you take Psyc 1010 with her you are on your own, you need to learn everything by yourself, there is not even much lectures given (with 3 whole modules you need to learn on your own with no lecture materials). I don't understand why I would pay for a course just to learn everything on my own with the textbook.
Great prof Understanding and polite Well organized Her teaching makes the course interesting Uses different mediums-ppt videos reading. Does a review before each test. With that being said, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU DO NOT TEST WELL. Its exam based, 4-5tests There is a lot of material to memorize. All mult-choice ichangedmajors
I did this course online. I found it challenging but if you follow the course syllabus, do the reading and use Launch Pad you should be fine. I found Ms. Jubis role to be more supervisory and administrative rather than educational. You need to be a self-starter and disciplined with reading because theres not a lot of interaction with the prof.
I'll take any class by Professor Jubis in a heartbeat! Really clear lectures with obvious hints regarding the exam's content. Interesting and an easy A if you read the book.
I took psyc 1010 in summer 2020 with her. Her lectures were not helpful. You should learn everything self-taught. The only good thing she did was introducing Launch Pad which was really amazing. I literally enjoyed Launch Pad. The reading assignment is heavy but really enjoyable. There were 4 exams and 4 scores for participating in URPP studies.
I loved her class. She made difficult material easy to understand. She would always bring up stories from the past to make the lecture more interesting and some of them were hilarious. She is a real gem.
During online classes, Jubis is absent. You will not see her, you will only hear her voice on recorded lectures, she speaks really slow so you're better off reading the slides anyway. I have never felt as disconnected from a professor as Jubis. I question why I took this class, it feels like I'm not even enrolled.
Very knowledgeable and explains the material very well. She is a fair marker and she cares about her students.
I wouldn't recommend taking this course while it's online because the tests are incredibly hard to do on eClass, she gives about 50-60 seconds per question (multiple choice). It may sound like it would be easy but you're not allowed to go back and check your answers and when you're on that kind of time limit, there's a good chance you'll mess up.
Jubis is overall pretty good prof, she clearly cares about the material and wants you to understand and like it as well, ALTHOUGH!!! online is very tough with her because she doesn't give much time on the tests, and you really do have to know the material and you can't go back to earlier questions... test are mostly based on textbook.
Rebecca is a great Professor. Very kind and wants the class to do well. But this class isnt easy, you must work for your grade. 4 tests all CLOSED BOOK and you have 60 mins for 60 multiple choice and 30 mins for 15 short answer. Its doable, prepare for the test and youll do well. Buy Textbook! 90% of tests are from here and the rest from lecture
One of the worst profs at York in the psychology program. Do not take her class if doing online. She does not care about her students passing and only cares about submitting a certain class average to the department. She is very rude when students reach out to her and does not explain a MAJOR assignment. She is also a very tough grader for tests.
not clear explanations, very tough grader and wont explain how to improve yourself for future tests and assignments, does not care about her students at all. just stay away from her
Terrible. She doesn't care about her students and she won't give any help when students really need her. If student email her for help, her advice is to drop the course.
This is my first and only review I'm doing. Jubis is a hard marker and her tests are brutal. All 4 of the tests were multiple choice with 50+ questions, but with less than 60 minutes to do all of it. You are given a 10-minute break before you need to finish theIf you're bad at time managing, good luck. Emailing her is like talking to a brick wall.
The classes were okay but her emails are really rude. Falsely accused a lot of my friends of cheating and academic dishonesty with her "so called evidence" that does not even prove anything. the tests were moderate, she narrows down the short answers to some topics.
I loved her lectures! She's clear, organized, concise, effective, and funny. If you show up for lectures and do the readings, you will do well in this class. There were NO surprises on the tests/assignments. She was polite and very quick responding to my emails. If you can handle what are honestly basic academic expectations you'll do fine.
This course was definitely not a bird course. If you dont read the textbook, you wont survive. For the first part of the year I didnt even know what she looked like. The only time I received emails from her were threats about cheating/email etiquette or when she posted test grades. You dont need to watch the lectures, just read the textbook.
Lectures were unengaging just read the textbook and you'll be good. You are only graded on 4 tests (2-20%, 2-28%) all non-cumulative and URPP participation (4%). Tests consisted of multiple choice and short answers only problem is there is not enough time for everything. Concepts were interesting but I basically had to teach myself everything.
Reading the textbook and using launchpad helped me out the most. The more practice questions you do on launchpad, the higher your grade will be. Overall, this course was very interesting! if you are not interested in learning theory and applying those in real life situation, this course maybe a little difficult for your understanding.
her lectures are well prepared, she articulates her thoughts well and helped me a lot, but not very helpful prof if emailing her with questions,, normally she just direct you to TA whenever you write her emails,, not the most helpful prof, she is average at her best
Communicated at the beginning of the course that tests would contain 90% lecture material and 10% textbook. The tests were mostly application based and completely out of left field and she provided no information on how to do better. She was also extremely paranoid about cheating so she gave 55 minutes for a 75 question multiple choice test.
Not a bird course but if you put in the work a good grade is easily achievable. Make sure to read the textbook. Absolutely loved her lectures, she explained concepts so well. Not a psych major but if given the chance I would definitely take her again. Kind of sad that classes were online this year because she seems like such a sweet and fun lady.
One of the hardest courses Ive ever done at York. Applying concepts in real life, just threw me off!!!
this is a do-it-yourself course and its really amazing because you can work at your own pace. the chapters are very interesting and easy to understand. the midterms are based on the textbook material and they are fairly simple if you study the textbook. the assignments include taking surveys and you can do them at your own time.
took her class in winter 2021. this course is basically self-study. read the textbook to have a better understanding of topics in order to do well on the exam as well. I learnt a lot from the textbook, to be honest. Jubis is harsh with timings during exams. 4 exams her taken, watch her lecture videos to know what's to come in second parts of exam
She is honestly so paranoid about cheating. She sends you threats about cheating and about your behaviour and evidence she has on you about the test test. Her tests are very short with a lot of questions. Please do not take her for psych 1010
The professor likes to slander her students for cheating. She will say that she has evidence that you cheated. Use these statements to intimidate you and make you have to admit your cheating.
I really like professor Jubis, she was really helpful and gave students extra class hours outside of her lecture days. She would ask if we needed another session or another live session, which was so nice. There are no surprises, Professor Jubis tells you exactly what you need to know and what isn't relevant!
you have 50 minutes for a 55 MC test....... that pretty much sums it up. good luck :)
More than a couple of times throughout the term she would in advance inform everyone there is no lecture and to just study from the textbook. Extremely hard marker and don't expect to see what you got wrong on the test unless you set up a meeting. Also accuses someone of cheating for jokingly saying "Google is my best friend"
She accuses students of cheating despite any proper evidence and once students decide to fight the claim, she decides to "randomly" drop the charge (proving there was no evidence in the first place). We are not allowed to review our tests to see where we lost our grades as the class average is significantly low. Extremely toxic environment. Avoid!!
I think she is a solid lecturer, the videos she had were good in terms of her examples and how she explained the material. But there are quite a few chapters where you are on your own and have to only depend on the textbook to learn the material. The MC part is solely based on the textbook, but watch her videos because the SA comes from there.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! theres so many other profs at york for psych. Do yourself a favour and dont go with jubis. Falsely accuses students of cheating, gives you less than a minute PER QUESTION ON MC TEST. A LITTLE TOO OBSESSED WITH TRYING TO CATCH STUDENTS FOR CHEATING for a prof that completely relies on the textbook.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! theres so many other profs at york for psych. Do yourself a favour and dont go with jubis. Falsely accuses students of cheating, gives you less than a minute PER QUESTION ON MC TEST. For a prof that completely relies on the textbook she needs to relax when it comes to her students.
Very kind and intelligent professor! Course material was difficult and confusing so be prepared for that. Tests were tricky, mostly based on lectures, not textbook. She posted prerecorded lectures & had some in person. 3 tests; 30%, 30%, 20% & an easy assignment 20%, application ques based on lectures. I recommend taking this course with this prof!
she gives no feed back to tests, does not really explain the content. ALWAYS accuses innocent people of cheating. would not recommend taking a class with Jubis.
This is a difficult course because a lot of content is covered, but Prof. Jubis' lectures were great to understand the readings. I looked forward to her classes because they were always interesting! Attendance isn't mandatory, but they helped me understand the material a lot better than if I didn't go to class and only relied on the readings.
Dr. Jubis was a really organized professor. While her classes were remote, she always recorded the live ones and once we returned to in-person lectures, kept the prerecorded ones online. The syllabus was quite clear from the start, the modules were broken up for our tests. Be prepared for LOTS of reading! She is also super concerned with cheating
Jubis bases all her tests on readings and will teach only a very small section for each module. She's also super paranoid about cheating and because of this, will make life a living hell for whole class. she can also be very rude and non-understanding. I would suggest choosing anyone else for psyc1010!!
Solid experienced professor. She is very aware of the material she's teaching, and is even more aware of how her students are feeling. During lecture she is considerate, and straight-forward with students. She will tell you how it is, whether you like it or not; which is amazing. No complaints whatsoever.
Professor Jubis is amazing! her tests might be difficult and have 100 questions on them, but she is great and teaches in a way that is easy to understand. As a bonus she uses real life examples to explain everything and she is hilarious.
So long as you do the readings and follow lectures you'll do fine. She provides a comprehensive rubric for tests, and gives hints for short answer questions and makes time for students. 10/10
This course had 4 tests broken up to equal 96% of your final grade. 4% for URPP project and a small bonus. The tests are very heavy, this was 1 semester so it went by quickly. She is very nice, explains things very well, good prof, but will accuse people of cheating! She is very onto ppl about cheating during tests... even if you don't do anything.
Amazing professor!!!
She is a very good lecturer, I found her lectures to be engaging and enjoyed going to classes. However, her tests were unreasonably hard. I would study the instructed material and would go into the tests knowing concepts, but concepts that were not instructed to be known would pop up. The course consisted of 4 tests and URPP surveys.
I really loved Dr. Jubis she give class notes for each lecture and makes class really easy to follow. She uses the chalkboard, her notes, and puts things on the overhead to teach and it is super smooth. Her assignments are easy and she even provided a video on how to answer one. She really cares for her students I would love to take another class.
Wouldn't recommend taking this course with this professor. The evaluations that determined your mark was just 4 tests worth about 25% each. I had peers in the same course but different professor and they had assignments that would boost their marks. Her tests are very difficult and the class average was a 60.
Dr. Jubis is the best lecturer I've had at York so far. She is very engaging, always allows time for questions & discussions during class. She also responds to emails quickly, so you can always email if you have questions. However, she gives very heavy tests: 90-100 mc + short answer (which she tells you what they'll be) so keep that in mind.
Her pronunciation is really good! She has a wonderful printable notes so that we can take notes in lecture. She can give us a lot of examples in the lectures which is enable us to understand the term easily
She has truly made the course really interesting and engaging. In order to do well on exams, you need to take good lecture notes and review them and follow her advice when she says to use Launchpad tools and study way ahead of time, and practice a lot.
I didn't do that well because I suck at exams, which was the only thing we were graded on. There were 4 exams usually around 90-100 questions mainly MC. No assignments besides an extra credit non-mandatory one. If you study at least a week before exams you'll pass for sure. She's really funny and gives practice questions for tests. I recommend her.
Rebecca Jubis is a excellent professor, she was thorough during lectures and highly detail oriented regarding the topics, she always made sure that students were actively participating and clearly understood the lectures. one of the best professors I had in my life
More concerned about catching people cheating then updating her lectures. If she has this paranoia about people cheating, she should consider not teaching online classes. I can't imagine how detrimental and discouraging this would be to someone who has just started studying psych.
Its ok if you taking online. but she is tough grader.
She's a decent prof but stay on top of work and you will be fine
Very tough marker in tests/exams. She has gathered test 2, a class assignment that cost 18%, and also the final exam(test 3) everything within a month (November), which is unbelievable.
As a person she is very hilarious and can teach topics in an engaging way. But as a professor I'd recommend choosing a diff prof as tests are unnecessarily large for no reason (103 question 4 tests, with no other opportunities). She isn't too specific with her lectures and does not use slideshows while teaching, she writes it on board.
There's only 4 tests 2 worth 28% and 2 worth 20%. Over 100 multiple choice questions and a few short answer questions. Easy to get at least over 50 questions right. 4% extra credit at the end of the year by doing urpp surveys which is a life saver. Make sure to do readings and practise questions. Attend lectures to get a better understanding.
this whole course, your grade is based on 4 tests and URPP participation. though she says over and over that grades shouldn't be based on tests alone and she doesn't believe in exams. she says the tests are straightforward and easy but they arent. she talks so much that she never gets to more than 1 topic during lectures
Too much content at too fast of a pace and tests were overly complicated
terrible prof. grade only consists of 4 tests each 100 multiple choice and very hard. extremely content heavy and hard to prepare for. do not take this course with this prof!!!!!!!!!!!
Terrible prof. Her lectures are super heavy, she covers way too much in such a short period and barely gives breaks. Her tests are awful and the questions are extremely confusing. She teaches like it's the 1990s - basically just the chalkboard.
She is a good person but her tests and assignments are terrible, so confusing and so difficult to understand. They are difficult even if you have studied a lot, I studied a lot for all of her tests and did not get the grade I wanted. She reads off of her notes in her lectures, she doesn't explain well. A lot of people are failing in her class.
Reads directly off of her lecture notes in her lectures. All of the exams that she gives have multiple correct answers. Also if you go review the multiple choice answers you'll see that some of the multiple choice answers are actually wrong. Do anything you can to get a different research methods prof.
Professor Jubis was good, not outstanding but not bad. She is kind and wants to make sure you understand the lessons.Things to note. There aren't lecture slides, she writes on the board. The good thing is that the stuff she teaches she uploads as a "cheat sheet." For best success I would recommend relying mostly on the textbook for knowledge.
I attended class everyday and sat in the front. I was happy with all the stuff I learned. So happy with the amount of notes I took just from her lecture.I studied and studied and I was confident. But, I found her exam to be EXTREMELY difficult. I actually did well on the short answers better than MC, choices from MC are very confusing. FAILED it :(
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH HER! JUST SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS NOTHING IN THIS CLASS IS TO HELP STUDENTS SUCCEED WHO GIVES AN INCLASS ASSIGNMENT THAT IS BASICALLY A TEST AND YOU CANNOT USE THE INTERNET. I WISH I DROPPED THIS CLASS EARLY ON!
She made a very dry course fun, and she was super kind and caring towards students. Honestly, I noticed a lot of people found this course difficult, but she made it super easy to get your grades back up! The end of the term felt a little rushed but that's the only complaint I have.
Academic difficulties is normal in university, the difficulty of her assessments are high and was creating a environment with low marks .The questions appeared to require answers that only she would know as a woman with experience. Extremely disappointed in this prof and highly don't recommend any new second years to pick her class .
Prof. Jubis has a good grasp of the content so attending lecture is very important to succeed. Her lectures go full length but I personally like her teaching style. However her tests are very application based and tricky so know your content and read read read!! Didn't do the best but still respect her
To be fair she explains the material very well and her lectures are fun. However, her tests and assignments are very difficult. Her test questions are so tricky, for example, if you get the answer right but you write a different explanation than the one she would like you to write you get 0 marks. Her class tests average is always around 58%.
Her lectures are good and she's good at explaining the material BUT it seems impossible to get a good grade in her class, the tests are very long and very difficult. She wants you to write exactly what she would write, even if your answer is correct but not as she would like it you don't get any marks. Also her questions are often vague and tricky
I usually don't write on here when I fail a class bc sometimes I know it's on me. Dr. Jubis is an amazing lecturer but her tests are so heavy and confusing. Our class tests average were under 50%. Hope that says everything.
Professor Jubis has very interesting lectures. She gives numerous examples for each concept so that we can gain a clear understanding. She's also funny. One thing I would advise is to attend lectures. Her lectures cover everything on the tests and she also gives hints as to what might be on the exams so its super important to pay attention.
I've never had to write a review IN MY LIFE. but Rebecca is an awful professor and would never recommend her. Ive heard other classes get 40-50 multiple choice, and clear answers. But our test are 100+ multiple choice and 3 long answers. Forgot to mention she is so unclear when she talks about what going to be on the multiple choice. forget abt it!
The tests in this course are above average in terms of difficulty. But if you read the test book carefully and participate in lectures you got this. My main problem was the second assignment. Some of the questions were too tricky and vague. Rebbeca Jubis gives good lectures and she is fair also. She added an extra 6% to students' final grades.
I have never received below an 80 on any exam in uni for reference. I attended every lecture and studied a week in advance and still found her test challenging. Questions try to trick you. Nice lady however this is the first test I have ever felt very discouraged by. Beware
Great prof! Her tests are around 90 multiple choice and require a lot of reading. She explains concepts with examples and relates to real-life. You need to attend lectures if you want a good grade, as she gives many hints and tells you what to study. She gives you the short answer test questions in advance so you can practice and study them!!
Professor Jubis is super fun to have! Her lectures are really well organized and she gives lots of good examples to explain difficult concepts. She's super kind and fun but also doesn't tolerate students talking during her classes because it's disrespectful to her and others and she's willing to call you out
My experience is different from the other reviews. Jubis is so funny and engaging. Her tests are super long and is mainly based on textbook content so her lectures are kinda useless. The tests are like 90-100 multiple choice but honestly it's pretty easy if you study properly. I've never heard of her falsely accuse anyone of cheating in my term.
I took an Intro to psych with her this winter semester (which most of it ended up being in the strike) however she continued on having classes which i actually appreciated because we finished the classes and tests early on. overall shes a delightful professor and i enjoyed her lectures very much.the examples she uses in the class are really helpful
Very kind and considerate professor. Always came to class eager to teach, and always cracked great jokes to keep us entertained. She made a huge class feel small. Get ready to read, she uses the textbook often and if you don't get the textbook, you'll make the course harder than it actually is.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE! IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD GPA.
doesn't fully explain concepts during lectures just writes on chalkboard everything she's already posted online makes test questions tricky on purpose Most of class failed. People I know that had her in the past, says majority of their class failed too. She knows and says this yet blames it on students' lack of work ethic. Do not choose as a prof.
Rely heavily on the textbook for this prof. Most (if not all) of the test questions are based off the textbook rather than the lecture notes. The questions can be tricky as well
She makes test questions tricky on purpose and acts like she cares about students during lecture time but is so harsh when it comes to emailing her.
Don't choose this prof, if you want your GPA to be well. That's all I have to say.
Awful teacher. She barely posts course material online, so showing up to the lectures are basically mandatory. During the lectures there's hardly any visuals or slides to look at for misheard information, and her handwriting on the chalkboard is barely legible. Her entire grading scheme is off 4 tests, 100 MC for each, and they're pretty difficult.
Lectures are entertaining, however, the whole course is made up of 4 BIG Exams. You only get 4 chances to get a decent mark. So get the textbook and DONT rely only on her lectures and/or slides.
This prof is awful, she used a blackboard for her notes and didn't make much sense. I was so confused and dropped out right before the second test, got a 70 on the first one. I will be retaking this course with a different prof next year now. Waste of time.
I found Dr. Jubis to be pretty straightforward; attend lecture and read the textbook and ur good. If you aren't good at big tests (4 tests each abt 100 MC) I wouldn't take her class and go for some of the other profs. She can come across as rude in her emails due to her tone. Overall a good prof but I suggest studying a week prior to tests.
This prof has MC tests but you need to read the textbook and go over her lecture notes to do well. Do not skip class
Very fair professor. In order to get a good grade you need to take detailed textbook notes and attend every lecture as she explains stuff well (slides posted are useless). It also helps a lot to use the quizzes included with the online textbook - the Adaptive Learning Curve has questions similar to those on the test.
oh god. where do i even start. the thing is im not just saying this because i got a bad grade, but genuinely it is hard to do well when you're only graded on 100-question tests. jubis is a good lecturer ill give her that, but the tests are just insane. good luck all
Her lectures were so entertaining! And her tests were really fair. Everything that she mentioned would be on the test, would actually show up. You do have to read a lot, but the textbook is also really interesting! (She uses a different textbook than other psych profs)
As a person she is kind but I didn't like her much as a prof. She doesn't use lecture slides, instead she writes on the chalk board which can be hard to keep track of and can get confusing. Most of the assignments and exams take after the textbook readings directly. Overall do the readings and you'll do good
Her test questions were so confusing and genuinely seemed so random at times. Her assignments had Such specific grading criteria but good luck finding out what it was because she didn't make it clear in the rubric. I got 65 on an easy assignment and when I asked my TA why, she said my answers were right but not EXACTLY what the prof wanted.
overall really confusing class, did nothing to accommodate for the strike going on, tests made no sense and had zero relation to lectures and notes, she herself is sweet but as a prof, the layout, teaching style, care for students, it all lacks and it shows.
Rebecca's lectures are really interesting, however her tests totally based on the textbook. She has a huge disdain for modern technology, assignments and students in general. She uses written notes with an old school bulb projector and writes on the blackboard. Her only way of testing are in-person exams. Save your time and avoid.
DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT AN A
Jubis was an okay professor. I since I have willingly decided to take a 6 credit course in a 1 month span I am deserve of the grade I have, however I felt that the grading was a bit harsh and that their were too many topics covered in a short amount of time. She didn't create any lectures which made most of us ill prepared to take on the course.
Do Not take 1010 with her you only are given 4 test and each test has 100MC.she give pretty tough questions in the exams. and even if you mess up one exam your whole mark will be messed up. doesn't record lecture and she read over her slides on the lecture and rewrite them on the board with chalk. does not have slide in the lectures.
Meanest person ever
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! The teacher is unhelpful, especially during exams. She refuses to clarify questions, makes answers confusing on purpose, designs overly difficult tests. She puts the same anwser twice in different words to confuse Many, students are failing & she doesn't offer extra credit or makeup work. Overall, she's not a good teacher!!!
sweet personality but all of that is to cover up the fact that she cant teach or take good exams.had to take her course 2t. lectures are ok ,fun but she does not cover everything. self study class with heavy materials. she says i do not want to trick you but the test are the opposite. when i came to york everybody told me not to take it with her.
The professor has a sweet personality, but the class is quite challenging. The tests are extremely difficult, with 100 multiple-choice questions, and the grading can be harsh. Engaging with the material through the textbook and unstuckstudy AI for study prep is recommended to do well.
do not take this course I repeat do not take it she is the worst Professor you can ever have hard marker rude I literally cried so hard I switched my major please do not take this course
she is very enthusiastic and passionate (and a little chaotic) about what she is teaching. she tries very hard to explain things and answer questions. u better read the textbook bc the exams are HEAVY on the modules - if u don't read it ur probably gonna fail. grade is based off 4 exams so make sure u pass all of them!!!!
When doing lectures, she would go so fast you wouldn't understand what she was talking about, and she would not even explain half of the material. She failed more than half of the class, and we only had 2 exams. both of which were multiple choice heavy, and even then the questions were not even about things she talked about in the lecture.
Professor Jubis was awesome. I had her for the summer. Course was made up of 4 test. I recommend using achieve for practice test. Her lectures were engaging.
I can pretty much say I self studied this course for summer but I should give the credit to the prof. Jubis that if you study the textbook the midterms are fair and you would get a good grade. Textbook is alot and I recommend using audiobook for it
She doesn't use power points in her class but she does use the blackboard and an overhead projector. A lot of this course is self study because she doesn't cover everything in the textbook. If you don't like tests then don't take her class. We were only graded with 4 tests that are filled with up to 100 multiple choice questions.
WORST prof ever. needs a microphone cuz no one can hear her plus she moves around too much which is distracting. does not teach everything on test. Should record lectures instead. more than half the class failed the test.
She is superstrict, doesn't record lectures, and has poor lecture notes uploaded to study from. She doesn't teach well, and her teaching has no structure. She uses a camera and pen and projects what she does on a paper on the class projector, which is super low quality. She says she worked with the CIA, but I doubt they have such low standards.
Refuses to answer any questions during class or re-explain concepts and instead tells us to go "read the textbook or her notes". Every single test we've had a class average between 60-63% which says a lot about her teaching style. The TA's mark extremely hard and give no feedback. Seems nice, but isn't. I never get below 70's till this class.
I studied 24 hours a day not even taking a single break . I honestly loved her and her classes and enjoyed every lecture, but this course made me depressed for the rest of my life. There is A lot of content for a student who has just started university. I remember I was crying and reading at the same time for every test.
Her lectures are comprehensive, but the way she presents information is a bit disorganized. She posts notes that are supplementary to her lectures but they don't cover every topic that will be in lecture or tests. I wish she posted more course information on eClass, like what pages aren't necessary to know or test expectations.
The course is very textbook-heavy, which can definitely take a toll on your mental health. The tests were straightforward MCQs. Most of the material required self-study, but it was an enjoyable course overall. You just have to commit a lot of time to reading the textbook, as the modules were large and there was much to understand!!!
do yourself a favour, DO NOT TAKE HER, if you want to keep your GPA. I took her first year for psych 1010 and was FIGHTING for my life, I am never the one to blame a prof. ever. (nor have I had the urge to rate them) BUT this is an exception. you'll NEED textbook understanding, (maybe) slides, ATTEND lecture, make notes and thoughts & prayers. GL!
She was one of the funniest professors I've had. She always uses amazing examples and personal examples to help make the material easier to understand. There is a lot of reading that goes into this course so do not fall behind. However, I felt that the tests were more than fair.
As a psych major who needed this class for required credits, I would not recommend taking this class with Jubis. She is disorganized and provides the class with little resources to understand course material, the only one being her dull lecture notes that she reads off of during lecture. I studied for hours for each test and could barely get a 70.
She is by far one of the best lecturers in this department. I find that the women in this department are far better than the men and most of the men should be let go or be sent to the sociology department or to jail
gosh...i think you need to read the textbook for this course, i stopped attending lectures after the first midterm and my grades started improving, make it make sense. i studied the notes she posted on eclass, and briefly skimmed over the textbook. keep in mind the inperson assignment has specific grading criteria. she bumped our grades by 4%
I couldn't stand her class. 3 hour class and only gave a 10 minute break. READ YOUR TEXTBOOK PLEASE PLEASE and you'll be fine
She was honestly a terrible lecturer. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR 2030. She used pen and paper notes, not slides, and her tests were awful. Over half the class scored below 50%, and even she complained about how many failed. IT WAS AN OPEN-BOOK EXAM. At this point, maybe she's the problem? Just take this course online if you can. Trust.
i suggest not taking her. i don't understand how she's still a prof. she uses an old ass projector, chalk and the board. fair to use if we were in elementary or high school. couldn't be clearer that she needs to go since more than half the class barely passed…just saying. students can only do so much if profs don't teach properly
Very funny prof but 96% of grade is tests. She is funny though so lectures aren't too boring.
DO NOT TAKE HER. I took psyc 1010 and 2030 with her and I can say her tests very extremely tricky and difficult. For psyc 2030 we had an open book assignment and it was unreasonably hard. Class averages were always around 55-60% for both classes.
Her first tests were generally okay, however, she gave an open-book test that lowered everyone's grades. I went to office hours to check why I got marks off and found out she didn't allow TAs to hand out ANY partial marks, which is why the class did so badly. It brought my grade down so badly, glad she's retiring so I never have to see her again.
It was really hard to get an A on the test, you have to put a lot of work into, read the whole chapters, do all of the practice mcqs until you memorize the answers and it become intuitive. At least there was no short answers qs on tests which I am grateful for, and I don't mind her rule of no using the phones, it makes the class more engaging.
Rebecca was great but I think psychology is the dumbest science. It's like the Joe Rogan of sciences. But if you like it I don't want to dissuade you from being a psych major but I say go into stem or humanities but this class is interesting nonetheless
Professor Jubis has so many mixed reviews. Psyc is a hard course that can be content heavy but in my opinion, she is extremely passionate about psychology so it makes her classes interesting. The only con is that the class is 3hrs long. There r only 4 tests, and URPP. Her tests are 95% based off of textbook and some random Q's r from the lectures.
thank god she retired
So unethical, rude, and disorganized. Honestly, I have no idea how she still has this job. Sucks at teaching, the university better give her job to someone else, cause her way of teaching is not only outdated but it is also not what we should be paying for.
