easy tests
she is hard at first, but gets nicer. study hard cause she doesnt curve or care!
She is the best teacher to have because she makes the tests for all acct 222 sections. acct is just a hard subject but she tries to make it easy
Mrs. Kerr is a very understanding and compassionate professor. She is always there when you need clarification, help or encouragement. I would encourage anyone to take her class
good teacher
She doesnt care. When I went to her for help one time she told me not to bother and another time she told me she didnt think I was going to pass.
She is the best professor to take for this course because she makes up the tests for all of the classes. Be prepared to study a lot though. She doesn't really care about you unless you are going to be an accounting major.
take someone else
She is nice, although she flipped out a few times on us- I heard she takes out her marital problems on the class. The tests seem easy until you realize you made one mistake that hurts 4 problems. Do the hw, if not you will fail-but she has EC quizzes too.

Go to class and pay attention and you will do fine. She makes up the tests for all ACCT 222 students so it is best to take her. Make sure you do your homework because she will call on you in class sometimes.

she wants you do well but really wants you to be an accounting major. she goes kind of fast so if you're lost speak up or she'll keep on going. i had to get a tutor. she makes up the tests for all the acct 225 classes so that does help.
Unorganized but i don't think she had taught the course in a long time. Seemed to choose favorites and only had interest in those doing the best in the course.
Very moody. Gets mad when people ask questions
Very good teacher. Accounting is like a new language at first and she really knows how to simplify it. She makes up the tests also, which is a plus. Don't take Accounting if you don't plan on doing homework though
She makes the test so teaches what will be on them. The class is difficult but she explains everything clearly. She doesn't teach you to memorize but to learn. She has been doing this forever so she knows what she is doing. I think she is a great teacher.
probably the worst teaching style, uses the whole class time to go over homework and very quickly. if you don't do the homework you are in trouble.
Great teacher - really cared about us and wanted us to learn. Just keep up with the homework as she goes over it and you will do well. She explains everything.
Ms. Kerr is a great teacher. She wants you to learn and gives great examples to help you understand. You just have to study and do the homework.
Seems way more worried about who is an accounting major and who isn't. If you're not, don't bother. She makes up the tests which but that doesn't matter. If you want to learn something, take someone else. I had Mrs. Fergusson and sat in Mrs. Lynch class and learned a TON more than in Mrs. kerr.
Difficult class, I went in with low expectations of professor because of a friend who had had her before, but ended up thinking she was pretty cool. Review sessions and packets are pretty helpful, DO THE HOMEWORK it definitely helps preparing for the tests and she WILL call you out if she sees you haven't done it!
I minored in business but Ive never really been a number cruncher kind of guy, just took it cause its good to know; but she really tries to help if she sees youre making an effort. She's tough and her classes can be tedious+boring but she will sympathize at times and try and do stuff to make it more interesting (i.e. work in teams, give you a few mins to stretch etc).
She was a great teacher. Do the homework and be prepared for class and you will have no problem. There are a few homework probs every night but they are not difficult. There are only 3 tests. She is very helpful and very PERKY!! Great Teacher!!!
Contradicts herself when teaching.
very nice professor, very helpful and very knowledgeable her classes are fun she has some interesting stories to tell that go right along with the lecture enter in with the right mindset and you'll do fine but beware you must do the HOMEWORK there is noway around it if you don't you fail it is as simple as that GOOD LUCK!!!
I took ACCT 405 from Ms. Kerr last summer. She has taught this material many times and really understands it. The course is tough but she was willing to answer all of our questions.
Very helpful teacher; obviously has a very good grasp on the subject material.
She is a nice lady, but gets really confused when teaching. She had to reteach a topic THREE times before she taught it correctly. She will help you out if you need help, but I would still take someone else.
She really knows the stuff well, and it great at teaching for the tests, since she makes them. She really wants everyone to be accounting majors, but is still a very good professor. She goes over things many times to be sure that everyone understands clearly.
Her class was not easy, but none of them are. If you want an A you have to work for it, She is head of the dept of accounting and she makes the tests for all the acct 225 students so she knows whats on the test and will teach you what you need to know. She doesn't allways take roll but you better show up if you want to pass.
Kerr has taught this class many times and explains the material well. She kept pushing us to learn the concepts so that we could understand what we were doing. Great teacher!
ACCt 226 is not the most interesting course but Ms. Kerr tried to make it interesting. She went over the material again and again until we understood what we were doing. She also gave us great reviews for the tests.
This is not an easy class, but Mrs. Kerr tries to make everyone understand. Sometimes she talks to you like a 5 yr old, but it really helps when she breaks the material down like that. She makes the tests for all the acct classes, so you have an advantage there. She is very helpful and nice. TAke her if you can.
Good teacher. I made a B, but I know i could have made an A if I'd have worked harder. A lot of work, but if you keep up and put forth effort it will be easy. Gives extra credit and let's you out early. Take her.
She was a very good teacher but in order to really understand the material and make it easier on yourself, *go to class*. She always says that she hates the writer of the textbook, so sometimes she teaches different then what is in the book. Go to the reviews ONLY if you seriously do NOT understand the material- otherwise, major waste of time.
Definitely a great teacher. GO TO CLASS, because if you dont you may either miss a quiz (which count towards your exam grade) or you will miss material people in the class may not explain as well as she does. She does some things differently than the book. Study in advance for the tests... don't wait until the last minute!
Attend class, do hw, if have any doubts go to review. Not difficult if you do work, she is very helpful and have a great acct background. I suggest consulting her about a career in accounting she knows alot about the business world esp if ur like me and are clueless where to go in business.
Becky Kerr is a great teacher. She makes it exremly easy to understand. She teaches you like you are a little kid....basically she dumbs it down for you. She does not grade homework but she does go over it in class to make sure you understand how do it. I would take her for any accounting class!!!
this woman DOES NOT know the material, she used all the previous teacher's material, which is fine if she herself would have been able to understand it, but she doesn't know what seh's doing. Very rude in class, not willing to help you at all. She always told us she would have to get back to us on our questions, and guess what, she never did. Avoid
She's an ok teacher. makes it easy to understand cuz she talks to you like you're stupid, she kinda reminds me of Mrs. Foreman off of that 70's show...
CONCUR with post below in its entirety!!! I'm still waiting on some answers that were asked five months ago.
will let u sleep during an exam and ask "what happened?" like she cares & she gives u a crappy grade. says that u are being disruptive when u ask someone what is that chicken scratch she wrote on the board? doesnt no the answer to questions in class or when u go to her for "help" @ her office. in fact good luck on catching her in the office.
MS. KERR IS A WONDERFUL TEACHER WHO IS VEY CONCERNED ABOUT HER STUDENTS. SHE MAKES THE MATERIAL VERY SIMPLE.I HAD SOME PERSONAL PROBLEMS AND MISSED ALOT OF CLASS, MS. KERR WORKED HARD TO HELP ME CATCH UP. I LOVED GOING TO HER CLASS AND LEARNING. TOLD GREAT ACCOUNTING STORIES THAT RELATED TO THE TEXT. I WOULD RECCOMEND HER TO ANYONE.
SHE's THE BEST!! I learned so much from her class and she recommended me to so many different internships/schools that I am so thankful for her. She is very helpful and she will definitely help you out if you work hard! Make sure you do your hw!
She's nice and helpful and that she pushes everybody to study is because it's a hard class. Study notes for class and examples from the book and you'll be fine - she stresses it all the time too.
Why is she so angry? She will call you out during class for the stupidest things. Class participation is a must with her. She obviously doesn't get that students pay her to recieve a quality education not for her to berate people. I wouldn't take her again, you shouldn't either.
I aced this class!! it was easy peasy. The review sheet will do wonders for you. Get personal with it and you cant go wrong.
I'm convinced that she would not know how to solve the problems without the answer sheet. Pretty easy and is clear about what is on the test, but overall not a very good teacher.
Great teacher. You will actually learn alot in this class. There are 3 test(25% each) and a cumulative final(22%), and hw(3%). Everything is straight forward, and most of the test questions come from the homework. She is a really nice person to talk to in her office.
Kerr is a good introductory level accounting professor. She goes at a slow pace and makes sure everyone understand the material before she moves on. Available outside of class and always willing to help. Uses great real-world examples to get the point across. Homework is mandatory. Exams are moderate difficulty. Take her!
Kerr is a good Managerial Accting prof. She'll help you understand the class. Reading the book the night before the exam really helps. Gives extra credit quizes that count toward the final. Kind of annoying to listen to, but very nice and always willing to help.
She is a decent teacher. I actually like her style to a certain degree. But, she brings her personal problems to the class room. Not, by talking about them. But, she's very angry. She told us to be nice to her when we were just asking questions. And told us that we didn't want to get on her bad side b/c she gets mean. WTF? Not professional!
Fabulous professor. ACCT225 is difficult material that many second-year business students struggle with, but she moves at a VERY SLOW rate and is great at answering questions. HW is required, she will collect at RANDOM. Exam questions come from mainly from notes taken in class. Attendance not taken but every went, you need to to do well on exams
Really really good professor. I'm glad I had her for this class. Has good practice tests before each exam w/ answers. Really cares about her students & will do anything possible to help you understand the material. Exams are very difficult, practically impossible if you don't study. But, if you study class notes and the book you will get an A.
Professor Kerr is a really nice lady. She is kind of scatterbrained at times but seems to really care if you do well or not in her class. Accounting 225 is hard no matter what teacher you take but just do all of the homework, take good notes and study a ton and you will get an A.
will not round period. dont wait to f@ck up on the tests ask for help if u dont understand asap. u will be sorry if u dont.
will not round period. dont wait to f@ck up on the tests ask for help if u dont understand asap. u will be sorry if u dont.
Do not take her class. You will learn nothing and feel dumber for going. The class should be taken in crayon because it feels like elementary school.
Not helpful, not encouraging, scatterbrained, unorganized and the worst teacher I've ever had!!!
Awful. She is very nice but not a good teacher by any means. If you do not pick up on very complicated examples quickly you will not pass. She mentions the class has a 40% fail rate on the first day and that's after 20% of the class drops. Try to avoid at all costs.
Love her or hate her, shes the only teacher that teaches this class currently. I found the material interesting, so it wasn't hard for me to get an A. She gives chances for extra credit also. Read the chapters and do the problems and you will be fine! Its accounting, its not going to be easy, just put in some effort and its not that bad!
Good teacher if you pay attention and go to class, she explains by going over examples. If you can handle the worksheets, you can handle the tests. The quizzes are pretty tricky but she tells you exactly what will be on them, so as long as you study your notes you will be fine.
GO BACK TO MIDLANDS! This woman should not be teaching here, period. She treats the class like we're in 1st grade, and tells us all we're going to fail unless we do her beloved solid footing and come to glass. Honestly, I don't go to class often nor did the SF. Almost the entire class goes to SI because she doesn't teach. Dont take her!
She was terrible. She spent half of the class time GIVING EXAMS. Never available for office hours. She simply does not thoroughly know the information. She is NOT a PhD and spent most of her career at a technical college. She made all student put bookbags and phones in front of room during every quiz and test. Avoid taking her!
She is one of the worst professors that i had at this university. AWFUL. She just gave a bunch of EXAMS without teaching anything. She is not familiar with information and extremely unhelpful.
Ms. Kerr is a very nice person, but is somewhat overwelmed by the rigor of an advanced accounting course. I'm sure she's a very good teacher for lower level courses. One of her greatest weaknesses is poor organization, she has great difficulty keeping herself organized and on task and returning work in a timely manner (if at all) due to it.
If you can avoid taking her I would. Test questions will be more evolved then the homework and quizes, which she will not explain how to do beforehand. She makes many mistakes while teaching. Talks down to the class.
Very sweet, tries her best to help her students. The course work is very hard but it is an upper level acct course. She is very knowledgeable in the subject matter and you can learn alot from her.
Any person who has said something good about Becky on here clearly did not have the same teacher. This women is a horrible teacher. She makes more mistakes than any person I have ever met. She also words tests in a form we have never learned. The accounting department should not have used her to teach the lecture aspect of this class.
Avoid her unless you just enjoy teaching youself...what a shame.
Avoid her, unless you enjoy teaching yourself! Class was one day a week. Whoever came up with that idea for a class like this should be fired. It doesn't work, especially with someone who really can't teach in te first place.
So for some reason they decided to put this class on Blackboard with lecture videos. Mrs. Kerr makes a lot of mistakes in the videos, but she's interesting to watch. Make sure you have a good TA! This class isn't easy so be prepared to study a lot.
Financial Accounting is meant to be hard, but Kerr's teaching style just doesn't cut it. You need a good TA to make it through. She posts the solutions to problems at the last minute before test, and only posts solutions to the few problems she assigns. No room for extra practice on your own. I don't find her helpful at all, my TA for lab saved me.
AVOID her at all costs!
Becky made lots of mistakes in the video and had long anecdotes that lost interest, but this class proved easier than the honors section of 225 for me as it was more structured despite only attending class once a week
She's not as bad as everyone says. I took this class as a freshman and got a B+ Most people just don't want to do the lectures and homework or go to review sessions. She's good about telling you what will be on the test. The worst part are the lecture quizzes given each class. You can't really avoid her though she's the only 225 professor.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!! AVOID HER.
Regardless of who your official teacher is for 225, you'll have to listen to Kerr's lectures via video. She makes mistakes frequently and spends far too long on concepts without addressing them in depth. I had her as my main professor as well and she rarely helped us prepare for the tests. You'll have to take this in the B-school, but be warned.
Ms. Kerr will prepare you to be an accounting major if you are willing to work. I worked my butt off but did well in both 401 and 405. I can never thank her enough for what she did for me.
I just passed the CPA exam! When I took 501 with her, I thought she was making it too easy but when I started the CPA review, I already knew what i needed to know about consolidations!
I liked ACCT 225. It wasn't that hard when I watched the videos. They made it easy.
Sadly, there is no way to avoid her. All of the lectures are taught via video and there is one recitation session per week but you have to go because there is a quiz every time. Make sure to get a decent recitation leader, but either way the tests are difficult. Also, make sure to do your online homework!!
Had her for the honors section so actually in class. She yelled at students for asking too many questions and messed up a lot when doing examples. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.
