She is super hyper but her class is easy going. She loves to teach math and get students into the subject. If you hate Math I highly recommend her as a teacher! She will help you.
good prof, but very picky in grading.
I really liked this professor. Her style of teaching is very different. She gives detailed notes of what you should learn, and she then she'll test you on exactly what she says. She's got a unique way of teaching. I Highly recommend her.
Mrs. Kyler is a very good teacher. She actually gives out printed notes and explains them during her lectures, which are painless. She's very hyper like someone said. On test days, if you have a question about a problem, just walk up to her and she'll give you a hint. She's very clear and concise in her teaching so you won't get confused a lot.
Mrs. Kyler is AWESOME! I hated math, and after taking her class I am now in love with math. She makes math fun and not your usual mundane boring stereotypical subject. She is extremely helpful and she sets up study sessions for students who needs help. Very passionate about teaching. If you are willing to learn, you might end up walking away from
Excellent teacher!! She makes math fun and not your usual mundane boring stereotypical subject. She is extremely helpful and she sets up study sessions for students who need help. Well organized and has a well though out lesson plan. Cares that her students learn the material, complete the course and succeed!
This prof is great. Not a hard grader, positive and fun class atemasphere, too easey to take notes because half of them are done for you. All you gotta do is use your memory.
She's amazing. Best math teacher i've ever had! =]
The class can be intense if you're not a wizz at math, but her lectures are usually pretty clear and relate to the homework assigned. She makes herself available by having a lot of different office hours & she is pretty easy to approach if you have questions or need/want extra help. I would definitely recommend her.
Good teacher. Withdrew early because of too many classes but she seemed to know her stuff and was on track. Friendly! Recommended!
GREAT TEACHER! trig is really hard but she makes it possible to pass. if you have to take trig take it with her its the best way to go.
She was the best math teacher I've ever had! I've taken this class 3 years, failed everytime, and i really feel that the teacher makes the class. She was very very helpful, understanding and clear. I highly reccomend her for anyone who needs help with this subject!
Greatest math teacher of all time! Made trig fun and easy. Her lectures utilized all the learning styles so anyone could undertand it.
Awesome teacher! very clear on her lectures. Love the subject and teaches well. Do the work and you will do fine. She will help you the whole way and the tests are that bad either.
Veeeery good at explaining things and moderately entertaining. She really likes to teach and although there is alot of homework, she backs it up with very clear and well-thought-out lectures
I disagree with the last posting. I feel that although she lectures well, it does not always go with the homework in the book! Frequent quizzes take away from lecture time and time for explaining of problems.
Great math teacher, as math teachers go. Explains well, helps a lot relatively easy tests and quizzes.
Great teacher! she gives you handouts for notes which helps. She will make sure you know the material and is really nice. Just ask for help and she will give it to you. Recommended
Rebecca is a good teacher and very helpful...but the amount of homework is ridiculous! I got a D+ because I only did 40% of the homework. Tests aren't bad but be ready for a quiz every single day...so it really hurts if you miss a class. She drops some of the quizes and will replace your lowest test grade with your grade on the final.
She is the best teacher that I have had at SC. She makes everything so easy to learn. Just go to class and you'll be fine. Really really good teacher. Take her classes if you can!
Awesome teacher! Kept things interesting without making things impossibly difficult. Made you work and think for the answers. Explained things many different ways and made sure there was ample opportunity for people to ask any questions they needed to to understand the material. Never made you feel stupid asking anything. Great teacher.
She's the most clear, concise and strong professor of math that I've had. This is the Math 12 class you need.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had! Very good about making sure you understand the material, very fun, very nice teacher. I have always hated math but after her class I definitely don't (not that I love it) but respect it more. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. Great teacher!
Very clear on instructions, used MML (MyMathLab) online for ALL homework. Tests were difficult but she gives you points for the work that you do get right, even if you get the answer wrong. Nice teacher, usually in a cheerful mood, very helpful IF YOU ASK QUESTIONS.
Her voice drove me up the wall, but aside from that she was a good teacher. It's hard to find a good math teacher so i was thankful. All hw is done on My Math Lab. There's a quiz like every other thursday and if your final test score is higher than your lowest test score she replaces it. Not too bad
You should like fast past learning, and be prepared to do lots of homework. Good teacher if you are a math geek, but not if math is you least favorite subject.
Really cool! Take!
She knows her math. Don't hesitate to take her if you're going into higher level math. Her expectations are appropriate to the material, and she does a great job of preventing surprises. I dropped for health reasons, but I would study Professor Kyler again.
Rebecca Kyler is a fantastic professor. As a return student who'd always been a strong math student but hadn't taken a math course in some seven years, I was very nervous after placing poorly on our first day's assessment quiz. Nevertheless, I flourished in that particular learning environment and would encourage everyone to take her course.
Great! She is so helpful and nice. she prevents suprises by backing everything she says on a website. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
Homework is done with My Math Lab, so I hope you LOVE computers... Overall she teaches very well. Her tests are hard. You will need to study for them to get a good grade. She is always willing to help, very approachable.
I would highly recommend her! She is a great professor! She makes math very easy to understand. She is truly very passionate about her subject! Tests can get hard at times but as long as you understand the homework and classwork you should be fine. She is very helpful when you are struggling. TAKE HER!
Alright, well, she knows her math. She really knows her math. But if you're looking for a professor that inspires you or can connect with you, she isn't the one. It's a very one-sided class. She often puts down her students and doesn't accept any other way of doing math than what she taught. She's also one of the most impossibly hard graders.
Professor Kyler is an exceptional teacher. She is one of the best professors I have had in a very long time. When it comes to math, she makes it easy to understand and enjoyable. I definately recommend her.
I've dropped 3 calc teachers...sierra's department in calculus is terrible!! Finally found a good one. Take it from me and take her!! If u understand the hw you will do just fine, and it's not that bad.
Professor Kyler is a great instructor! She is very helpful and goes at a perfect pace and will stop if someone doesn't understand. She provides practice problems for points which are very helpful. She really motivates students and always has a positive attitude. She collects homework so stay on top of it and ask questions if you don't understand.
Great teacher, uses Math Lab which is a pain in the rear, It seems like it causes homework to take twice as long. Her tests are very hard and she grades tough too. If you already have a stong math base, take her. If you struggle I suggest you look elsewhere.
She is a great teacher and makes math kinda interesting, but homework is a pain, if u are slow at math it will take u HOURS to do homework. You only have to do 85%, but it is still out of 20-45 questions on my math lab which u have to keep doing the problem until its right.Fun teacher tho:)
As always an excellent professor. You can tell she goes above and beyond with helping her students and preparing for class. Very approachable and peppy.
Rebecca is an excellent professor. She explains things well, and if there is any confusion, she is kind enough to give you one on one help as much as you need. Extremely approachable and compassionate person. Made Math at Sierra, very tolerable!
In every class she has worksheets, she also leaves a normal amount of homework, but you definitely learn and she knows what she is doing. Very good teacher, very enthusiastic!
Rebecca kyler is one of the best instructors i have ever toke at Sierra College. She i great and clear with the work she shows. Attendance is mandatory. Do your Homework and you should be good. I highly recommend Professor Kyler for Math D!!
Rebecca is a great math teacher. Take her for math A if you already have a basic understanding. She does move through the material very quick, but she is very helpful if you have a question, or do not understand something. Her test and quiz questions are straight from the homework.
Rebecca was a very good instructor. The final was brutal, tho! MUCH longer than the normal tests but same time to take it (ran out of time and had to leave 3 questions blank)! I was disappointed she said everything we needed to know would be on the study guide...NOT TRUE! I got an A, but make sure you study more than the study guide for your final!
Rebecca is a great prof. Makes you work, but you benefit from it. Helpful.
Best math teacher i've ever had. She's very enthusiastic and passionate about her job. It makes a huge difference that she is able to make something normally very abstract and difficult to most people, like math, easier to learn and understand. Wish I could've had her for college algebra!
SHE HAS CANDY AT HER OFFICE IN HER FISH BOWL! Rebecca is the best math teacher I have ever had! She types out notes for every section, she's funny and energetic, and she's very good at understanding the students' questions. She was my inspiration to become a math teacher myself. I took her for math A, D, 8, and 29. She's the best! :-D
I loved Rebecca's class. She's so helpful and you can tell she loves her job. Tips for class: Show up and Do your homework. You miss out on so much if you're not there for the lesson, and doing the homework actually helps you understand more. I hope I am able to take another class with her in the future.
She is a great math teacher. Very knowledgeable. Be in class to learn the lesson and do your homework on time and you will do great!
She is a great teacher! You can tell she truly enjoys seeing the success of her students. Energy filled and joke filled classes, but you need to be there. Mathlab is unique, yet not hard if you give it a chance. Setup was easy for me but some struggled. I would definitely recommend choosing her as a professor. Do the work and you will do great!
Amazing teacher! i barley got through math in high school and thanks to her i'm getting an A! she's funny and really cares about her students.
Very, very hard class to pass. But if you can pass her class then you are pretty well set for any other higher level math classes. Study hard! Make this class a priority! You need A LOT of time to study to pass this class. She is a really tough grader. You must know your trig before taking her class.
Really hard professor. Grades insanely hard. She will take off points from anywhere that is possible. By marking down points so aggressively, she takes the fun out of math and lowers a person's confidence to perform well in the class.
Kyler is super sweet! She goes out of her way to help other students. I went into her office hours a couple of times and she gave me one-on-one help! This class is tough but it really helps you prepare for higher level math. As long as you study for all your quizzes and tests and do your homework, you should be good! I wish she taught Math 30 =(
Knows her algebra--great at teaching! Lectures were excellent, but she assigns a huge-often unnecessary-amount of homework. Doable; I got a solid B, but it was NOT easy and it took over my semester. ATTEND CLASS: 4 missed days and you're out. Several take-home review sheets, 1 quiz every week, 5 tests, final exam. You WILL need those points!
She is extremely knowledgeable but she is an extremely tough grader and gives very little partial credit for messing up steps in your equations. Her tests are NOTHING like the homework problems. She makes everything as hard as possible to "prepare you for calc" even though most of her class wasn't planning on taking calculus. Prepare to work hard.
Excellent professor, she is very funny and likes to have fun in the classroom. Class notes are typed out for you (by her) and you just do the problems together as a class, no need to take your own notes. Tests are exactly like the pre-tests, and she is very clear on what she needs from you. RECOMMEND for those (like me) w/out strong math skills.
Avoid this teacher for trigonometry. She does not care about her students at all..I missed one day of notes, came to her office hour the next class and told me she is not going to go over the notes because i missed class and i should ask a student for help. She loves math but teaching it is not for her, talks really fast, and makes you feel stupid.
Kyler is really good as far as math teachers go. However I learned more from my tutor than in her class. However, lots of opportunities for extra credit. DO the HW, it's all out of the book. NO MATH LAB. Which I liked. However she is not very personable, so I tried not to have too many one on one conversations with her. I suck at math and I got 98%
Horrible!!! AVOID, she taught her 16 week class as a 8 week class... talks so fast and is very hard to understand because trigonometry is a whole different animal. Just dont take her at all. PERIOD.
She was very clear and easy to follow. She really cares that her students are learning. She will methodically go over something again if someone is having trouble, and in a slightly different way, not just repeating the same exact thing over again. Easy to talk to.
Gives students whom are beginner level, mastery level problems. If you want a challenge take her class. if you actually want to learn the material and get through college choose a different teacher.
Rebecca is an excellent professor. I haven't taken a math in about 6 years and I'm currently holding an A in the class. She is very thorough and more than willing to help a student who doesn't understand. Don't expect to show up and not do homework and get a good grade though. She gives you all the notes printed out, all you have to do is try.
Wonderful lady, super helpful and always ready to explain if you're confused. She's very encouraging & her office hours can be a lifesaver. There will be a lot of homework though and the tests aren't easy. You really have to work for your grade. If you aren't particularly good at math, you'll be spending A LOT of time on this class.
Rebecca is a great teacher but she expects a lot of her students if you go to class and do all the homework you will do fine. there are quiz each week but they really reflect what will be on the test. so i suggest studying the quiz's and go over past homework.
Rebecca Kyler is awesome! She is a tough but fair teacher, totally doable if you are willing to do the homework, of which there is a lot. She makes math really fun and understandable. She actually gives you pre-printed notes at the beginning of each class! Great teacher who cares about what she does.
Rebecca is awesome! As long as you do your homework and see her during her office hours if you you need help you will do well. Her class wasn't a cake-walk but she is willing to put in the extra time to help you succeed. Upbeat during lecture, teaches you good shortcuts and memorization tricks. Its a Time investment grade returned type of class.
Uses handouts instead of asking students to write notes. High energy during lectures. Quiz almost every week, most commonly on second class day of the week. No quiz if during test week. Homework worth same as quizzes. Large amount of graphing by hand. Graphs requires graph paper. Homework posted in entirety at course beginning. Final 25% of grade.
Professor Kyler is extremely dedicated in what she does. As others have mentioned, her office hours are a lifesaver. She's always more than ready to help, all you have to do is ask. Trig is a whole different animal but if you put in the time and effort, you're sure to pass. Interesting but tough class so work hard, do the hw, study daily and pray!
Amazing professor; really cares about her students and obviously loves her subject. Always has a smile on her face. Provides notes for every chapter and thoroughly breaks things down for understanding. ALWAYS willing to help her students. Do the homework! Homework problems show up on tests and quizzes.
Really don't understand how Kyler gets such great reviews. She seems to work very hard in order to purposefully mark you down on tests, assigns a lot of homework, and also grades it very harshly. Not a good teacher at all, but if you remember enough from older algebra teachers you may squeeze by.
She is really nice and helpful, but difficult. Everyone is in her office for help everyday. She always has candy and a smile waiting in her office. She loves teaching and will help you. Just don't take any other hard classes or too many other classes if you take her class.
I took Rebecca last semester for College Algebra, and liked her so much I decided to take her again for Trigonometry. Her tests are definitely not tough, you just have to put in the time and effort into studying homework, and you will receive the grade you deserve! Her office hours are tremendously helpful!
Rebecca kyler is a worst thing ever. She give so much homework plus her exam is so hard that if you get 70% on the exam. Than mean you are generous. If you taking her that just forget about world. You will so busy in homework or study for exam that you don't have time for anyone. She fail me in class but when I took math assessment I did well.
I told her how much it mattered to me to get an A, and I tried so hard to get there. She said that if I went to workshops and lectures through the college, she would consider bumping me up. Still got a B. Partial credit is a joke. Grades really hard, and doesn't offer any extra credit. Emailed her about my final grade, no response. Not very happy.
Rebecca was an awesome professor. always has office hours and is there for you if you need help. She has a few extra credit options, take advantage of them the class is fairly difficult for most. Split the homework with a friend and share answers it helps a ton with stress as well as having someone there with you if you get stuck. Shes very fun!
she just focused in a few student. she wasn'nt good at trignometry. Don't take it!!
Amazing professor; really cares about her students and obviously loves her subject. Always has a smile on her face. Provides notes for every chapter and thoroughly breaks things down for understanding.
Guys trust me don't take this professor at all. I am from Vietnam and we really have a deep math education in our country but with Kyler is very hard to get even a B. Her lectures are easy and when it comes to HW and exams she picks up the most difficult examples. DO NOT TAKE HER unless you want a C as the best grade.
This teacher might be seem cool, but bad teacher for Trig class. I don't understand her lectures, talks to fast, don't show work by steps. Really taught grader, study guide she gives for tests are completely different what is actually on the test. She picks really hard problems for the test, her expectations from students are too high.
Kyler is a great professor. I took trig with her and went back to her for calc. her lectures are clear- she goes through every single step and goes back if you don't get it. She spends alot of time answering homework questions too. she gives you study guides and worksheets that as long as you do them you'll be fine. her expectations are reasonable
Kyler is an amazing PERSON. However, she is a TERRIBLE TEACHER. DON'T take her if you want to pass. By the 2nd test; half of the class had dropped. She gives you premade notes, and TONS of hw... Thinking this would help... IT DOES NOT. Her TESTS are 10X HARDER than anything she will have given you to practice. It's like she wants yall to fail.
The material(trigonometry) maybe hard, but her lecture is very clear and well organized. After test #2, about half of the class dropped, but I question, if they didn't miss any class (one lecture covers a lot of stuff) and did all the homework(recommended but not required). If you do these two, you will pass. To me, best math teacher ever.
Rebecca is a great instructor. Trig is a hard class, but she really works hard to help everyone to understand it. She provides you with lots and lots of notes to help learn and reinforce the material and her quizzes prepare you well for the tests. Trig is hard regardless of the teacher, so you might as well pick someone who teaches well and cares.
She's very friendly, explains the material pretty well, and more than willing to help you with homework/any other problem you might have related to the class. Really the only problem is she's also very demanding. Homework (which accounts for very little of your overall grade) is assigned nearly every class, and tests are hard even after study.
Honestly, she's a terrible choice for a teacher. If you want to pass this class, don't take her. It was her first time teaching Calc this sem and we all had to pay for it. She assigns pages of hw every class including her ANTS worksheets that need to be done. (hw doesn't.) and forget abt tests because its like nothing you'll have studied for.
Hard to please.
I took Kyler for Trig. I thought I was going to do well and pass. Boy was I wrong. This class is HARD! The material was not too confusing after doing the HW (which took 3-4 hours to complete) and practice tests. However, it's the Prof that made this class hard! If you know Algebra well and are hard-working, take this class... with a different Prof!
She begins the semester by making or getting people to leave; that's your clue. Trig is not difficult. It's the communication from the professor. She grades hard. Obviously wants people to leave. she's one of those that makes it look easy but leaves you doing the wrong things on the exams. I do not recommend this professor - Caveat Emptor
the homework is easy, the test are on a different level
I am good at math if I could be taught it. I didn't learn anything. my classmates and the peer teacher taught me more than she did. She assigned so much work and moved incredibly fast I could not keep up. Also, we weren't allowed to use a formula sheet on the test and there are SO many you have to memorize.
YES,Kyler is hard. YES, trig is a hard subject. You aren't gonna pass by slacking off. She's a college professor and not gonna baby you. You need to realize that this is a college course. She has office hours, there's the math tutoring center, there's the other tutor center in the LRC. You gotta work hard, but it's worth it if you're moving to calc
I don't understand her lectures, talks to fast, don't show work by steps. Really taught grader, study guide she gives for tests are completely different what is actually on the test. She picks really hard problems for the test, her expectations from students are too high.
Grades on attendance. Assigns homework on items not covered. Tests look like nothing you've seen. Makes LOTS of mistakes. No extra credit. Always talks about her animals. Is accessible outside of class. Friendly and easy going. Would never take her class again. EVER. Class started out overflowing, quickly dwindled to less than half.
She made math fun and personally I hated math prior. I felt prepared for all of her tests. If you take notes, do the homework and put some effort in to study you should be solid. She is also super accessible outside of class. Its a class that you get out what you put in! :) I really liked her as a prof.
Awful teacher and very unreliable. Took way to long to grade test and more often than not would never reply. Test often include topics not covered in class with no possible test corrections.
Worst professor ever. Takes very long to grade assignments, quizzes, and exams so you won't know how you're doing in class. Doesn't provide helpful feedback. Exams/quizzes are formatted differently from homework in WebAssign and covers topics didn't go over.
Does not grade assignments for months. She provides little support and doesn't care about circumstances. The lectures are not adequate to the standards that the tests demand.
She doesn't respond to emails and considering we are currently online I think that's pretty important. She also takes forever to grade stuff, which is just frustrating. One last thing, she makes stuff due at 10pm which usually wouldn't be an issue but a lot of people work full time and it's difficult to work around.
will give you a mountain of homework . 2 quizzes and a take home "ants" quiz a week. Literally take months to grade, and is super strict with her criteria. If you don't use the formulas that she taught in class, she will completely mark your work as incorrect, even if you got the correct answer. Only take her if you have NO other option.
Be prepared to do lots of hw. Get help from math center.
Will give you a lot of homework. 2 quizzes and a take-home "ants" quiz a week, by correctness. Takes months to grade, and is very strict with criteria. If you don't use the formulas that she taught in class, she will completely mark your work as incorrect, even if you got the correct answer. Should be one of your last options. +canvas is very messy
She took so long to grade everything that I didnt know what grade I even had until basically the end of the semester. I didnt like the website she used for online homework at all.
She gives so much homework! Prepare to lose your social life for the semester. Really hard on grades and very inconsistent. 2 tests a week and nearly no time to do them. The program she uses for homework doesn't help you understand how to do the problem correctly if you got it wrong, and some questions aren't in your notes. Don't take her!!!
An absurd amount of homework and two quizzes a week and the time limit for quizzes is way too short. Everything is due at 10pm instead of 11:59pm. Her quizzes contain material that weren't even in lectures. The website she uses for homework isn't the best either and takes days to respond to emails. Only choose her if its your only choice!!!
Inconsistent and has unrealistic expectations. Takes too long to grade work, leaving your final grade a mystery. Quizzes and tests rarely cover the same material shown in lectures/homework. Teaching style is horrible, jumping over concepts and rushing through topics. Makes lots of mistakes, but expects perfection from students learning the material
I am graduating with a BS in Computer Science from UCD. I aced the entire calc series at Sierra with ease and linear algebra at UCD. Out of my whole academic career involving both schools, she is my only W. My field of work is heavily trig based. During her class, I wondered if I should drop out of school. I'm glad I chose a different professor
